She is a very upbeat professor. She likes to “getting into groups” as a part of the daily lecture. She also assigns a larger group project. Aside from that, her tests are directly based on her study guides allowing for an A if you study a bit. Her class is clear and fallows the schedule. I would take a class from this Professor again.
Pointless required course. She was a very EASY teacher, gives you outlines for the information you need to know for tests. Attendance is not necessary to do good, but helpful (why are you in school if you do not go?). End of semester group research paper & group presentation was easy and fun. Not an exciting class but VERY EASY!
Easy teacher. Very upbeat. Strong emphasis on group work. Study the fill-in handouts and the tests will be easy. GET A GOOD GROUP! Group project is a large portion of grade.
Professor Mickel made the best out of a pointless class. Lots of group activites, multiple choice tests, one easy group presentation. Highly recommended.
Professor Mickel is a great teacher. She's all about group work though so be sure to get a good one. No tests, but there are two student led classes and 2 other major papers for your grade. It's still plenty of work but well worth it!
Mickel is wonderful. She's really upbeat and knows her material. She tries to make this class fun although the material could be dry and boring at times. Daily activities = group discussions. Three tests -each test has a fill in study guide, one group project, and one group teaching/debate session. Get a good group and you'll do well in the class.
Great teacher! Exams are multiple choice and she gives a good study guide for each one. Very helpful, and explains everything simple and clear. 1 big group project, but its not bad at all. Overall, good teacher and class.
Wonderful professor. Wonderful person. She is extremely helpful, and clear. Gives very detailed study outlines for each test. Group project wasn't bad at all.
EASY class hot prof :D
She's a great professor. SUPER nice. She makes the best of a dry subject, but does lots of group discussions/videos. Attendance not mandatory, BUT does put class activities on exams. Exams aren't that bad if u fill out her study sheets. Get good group, and you can pass easily b/c one HUGE group project, but easy. HIGHL RECOMMEND!
Great professor. Really helpful, sweet and knowledgeable. The tests can be hard if you don't attend class regularly and or don't fill out and use the highlight sheets she provides. Take this class.
This professor is one of my least favorite. I got a B+ the group project and my fellow group members messed up my A. I hated her slides, her handouts, she gave great examples, but her lecture was all over the place.
The class in general was similar to a semester long sensitivity training with painful group trust exercises. I?m not sure weather that is the professor or the topic. As it goes it was not a hard class but it did seem inane. The book was painfully pc but Mickel was on point and gave you everything you could possibly need to pass.
Be prepared to pick a group that you get along with. The group project is what you will be working on most of the semester and will be a huge chunk of your grade. Tests are NOT easy but if you keep up with the readings and highlight sheets it is manageable. She is an understanding professor and truly cares about your status in the class
Professor is awesome! She does a great job at explaining all of the material. She gives a handout that follows her lectures and exams. Read and study, and do well in the group project and you will get the grade you earned!
Overall I recommend this class. Everything is straight forward, no quizzes, 3 tests, a teaching assignment, a group project, and a final. Even though it sounds like a lot, it's not hard to complete any of it and she gives handouts about what's gonna be on the test. Make sure you pick a good group for the last project though!!
No quizzes or exams. One group project. One paper either group or individual. & one individual paper. Both papers about 15 pages. Attendance not mandatory but recommended. Receive participation points. Very enthusiastic about teachings. Great professor.
Class is easy...she gives you outlines for the test which you can fill out and study from for each test. No need for attendance...but you "NEED TO FIND VERY GOOD GROUP MEMBERS." With that said...class is easy
She is a great professor!! Gives you a clear outline of whats expected of you. If you follow it you will get an A. No surprises at all. Great professor at CSUS!! Take her if you can.
Even the average turkey off the street can see that Sacramento State is going through some hard times, but there is a beacon of light, and it is radiating off of Dr. Mickel. I would highly recommend taking one of Dr. Mickel's classes, as she has a gift for exporting her organization behavior knowledge. Thank you, and good luck.
AWESOME!! Easy and great professor. You rarely use the book. She gives you all the material you need. Gives you outlines for everything you need. Follow it and its and easy A. Very understanding and is always willing to help. Always in a good mood and makes you want/like to come to class. Take her, you'll enjoy it!
AWESOME!! No exams or quizzes. Mostly group projects and an individual paper. No book. She'll give you all the material you need. There are no surprises, just do your work and i'll be an easy A.
this is a boring and useless class. however she is a good teacher. she tries very hard to make this boring class somewhat interesting. there's no hw, but she gives a study guide to study for the 2 midterms. the final is not comprehensive. there's one huge group project due at the end of semester.
You'll love her. exams are all from the her lectures in class. You learn alot. she has outlines for you to follow which can be filled in and all you do is use those notes to study for her test. 1 group project, which is easy if you have good partners. Wish she taught other HROB classes, cause she has a good teaching style and she is super nice.
I learned so much from this course even though it's a somewhat boring subject. Be sure to have good team members for the big project and study lectures for exams. That's all.
She is an amazing teacher; best one I've had at Sac state so far.She is passionate about what she teaches.Very interesting and cleared. She makes sure you learn well by engaging in group discussions.Learned so much from the class projects. She laid out the course pretty well. She went above and beyond to help students.Loved her style of teaching.
Class is so boring because it's common sense but of course CSUS makes you take it. I think she tries to make it fun as best she can. She let us review the class mid semester to tell her what we like/don't like and some helpful tips for her. Better like your group members you'll be stuck with them forever. The project really sucks.
I recommend taking her. She is enthusiastic, approachable, and kind. Participation is counted toward your grade. You do need to read the book to do well. For the exams, you must know her definitions, the book's definitions, and examples. Exams are multiple choice with a couple fill in the blanks.
SHe a great professor, wished she taught more. She is very clear on what she wants. She is very helpful. 2 presentations, which are easy, and 2 papers 20 pages each. It is not hard, really easy. They aren't due until the end of the semester. She is super easy as along as you do you work and come prepared. more activities than lectures. TAKE HER!
Group project is not all that bad. Make sure to create good teams and do your part or else it will bite you in the butt. DO the highlights and pay close attention to the stuff that she says to know for the tests. You will need the book. She kind of has an attitude so be aware.
The group project is the worst part of the class (must write a 20+ page paper and present). Her tests are ok because she gives you everything you need to know. Just good luck with project and finding a compony that is willing to work with you. Easy, but honestly she can be rude 1-on-1, and says "you know" "right" every 3 seconds. Ugh.
Very nice prof., easy to talk to. This class focuses mainly on group work. Mainly consisted of 2 huge group projects(over 50% of your grade) and 1 individual 17-21pg paper. No textbook.
It's not hard but not an easy A either. The group project is a ton of work and takes up a lot of time. Her final exam was pretty tough and lowered my grade quite a bit sadly. She doesn't lecture at all, she puts you in groups almost everyday and we just talk. A lot of self teaching. She can be rude sometimes when you ask one-on-one questions though
Super easy class! Just show up! 2 group projects/papers and one individual paper. Get started on the papers early because they take up a lot of time even though they are easy.
It's all self teaching. You're in groups everyday. Just remember every key word and outlines for exams, and you can pull of a B. The project SUCKS (20+ page paper in a group of people that don't care). She is kind of a rude tbh.
Dr.Mickel is a good teacher and she gives you a highlight sheet that tells you what to study for on the exam. Exams can be hard but study alot and youll do fine. Also, the group project is alot of work so make sure youre in a good group.
Her class is very well-organized. Her highlight sheets are very helpful for exams. The only problem is the group project - your teammates. Good luck!
At first she scared me off, but in the end she was pretty cool. Exams are almost 60% of your grade, if you comprehend all the material in the 'highlight sheets' she provides; you can get a A-, read the book for the A. The group project is about 30% of your grade, you're d00med if you don't have a good team. Participation = 10% of grade, so speak up!
3 exams and 1 huge group project. Everyone gets the same grade on group project, so make sure you have good team members otherwise you are just pulling the weight for them! Start on project early it's a huge portion of grade! Tests are straight from the study guides. Professor is nice, but kind of has an attitude.
Overall not a hard class, but a lot of group discussions, 1 small debate or teach class session, one big project 17-20 pages final draft for the whole group, not too bad for 4-5 ppl per group if distributed equally, present it end of semester. 3 exams, they are not hard if study the highlight sheets that she provides. Easy B if you do of them.
Great professor. A lot of work in this class. 3 exams but study guides are provided. Complete the study guides and spend some time studying them for the test and you should do well. Exams are multiple choice and a few fill in blanks. Big 20 page project that can be divided amongst group members. She is clear on assignments. Choose group carefully.
Prof. Mickel is a very good teacher, she bases her exams on her highlight sheets and is very clear as to what she wants.
I learned a lot in her class, stuff you can use when you move forward in your career path.
Great Professor. Lectures are very clear. She provides highlight sheets for students to take notes during lecture, and it is very useful for exams. There will be two group presentations for the semester. Class participation, she will get to know you sooner or later.
She is an awesome professor. Her lectures are very easy to follow and she is very approachable. You will learn so much taking this course. You won't regret taking her.
She is great professor I enjoyed her class. She is super friendly approachable and respectful. Break down: Group project one teaching session or debate. 1 paper on consulting for a business. 4 exams. No final the 4 exam is the final not cumulative. 2 presentations. and lots of participation. do highlight sheets. Take her
Group projects!!! Your group matters!!! don't get stuck with slackers. Also exams are not hard. She prepares you for the exams with the highlights.
Great Professor. Class solely based on groupwork. Pick the right team and get started on your paper months ahead and youll be fine!
(Fall 2014) Dr. Mickel is AWESOME. She wants her students to pass! There are 3 exams and 2 group projects. She gives out a study guide for each exam! The exams are pretty straight forward. Her lectures are easy to follow and fun to participate in. Take this class! You will not regret it!
Easy class, just do the study guide ahead of time. lots of group work. And god how I would tear that up lol She is hot for a professor
Pretty much one of the best professors here at sac state. Makes you print out a lecture outline to follow along but she lectures super fast so you should read the book beforehand. MAINLY group work so pick a good team. Speak up in class when she wants discussions. Returns your exams back super fast. She's an awesome person and tells whacky stories.
Great professor. She gives clear expectations on every assignment. Willing to work with you. Three exams (highlight sheets aka study guide provided), two group projects which include presentations and one group paper. Pick a good team. Lectures make the class easy to follow.
Great Professor! Very organized & is very happy to help you with the group project. There are three exams & she gives you highlight sheets to fill out to help you study for the them. There is one big group project but you choose between a real organization and a fictional organization. She kept the class interesting & I really enjoyed her class!
Super fun and awesome professor. Very accommodating. You have outlines that you fill out using the book or by attending lecture and the test is based on the outline. Tests are never cumulative. 1 group project which is to write a 20 page paper w/ 4 other people but it's not hard at all. Turned in OK work, got a great grade.
Amazing professor! Dedicated to helping students be successful. 3 Exams based on the highlight sheets that she provides, they're difficult but as long as you fill them out in depth, you'll be fine. One huge group paper, that can really affect your grade, positively or negatively. Gives great feedback on group paper, make sure you pick a good team.
She is a great teacher! Very organized and clear on what is expected of students. Open to feedback and is very approachable. She really cares about her students. Pick a good group for the project and make flash cards of highlight sheets.
I didn't mind her class, but I didn't find her very helpful. She would pretend to smile and she was not very approachable. I could not ask anything from her. Overall, the class is amazing! I wish she was more open and understanding. I learned a lot about the topic. I liked the class! Group projects are a pain!
She's a real piece of work; 1 pro about her she has a crystal clear rubric about the expectations in her class: Cons, she knows every one in class so if she doesn't like you it will show in your grade especially on exam-free response quest. (if you are minority i.e latino/black stay away from her), & expect high school level learning environment.
Amazing professor. I am an HR concentration and would love to take her for all my HROB classes. She has 3 tests and a group project-20 page paper that was a piece of cake because of my group. We nailed it and got 98/100 on it. No midterms, finals, or a lot of HW. Basically do your highlight sheets before class and study them for your exams.
Amazing teach, she can come off as a little unapproachable at first but, she really will to do what ever it takes to make it possible for her students to succeed. Just make sure you ask her questions on the paper it's worth quite a bit of your grade.
Great professor, solid choice for learning HR in business. Exams are fair, must re-read chapters a few times, take notes during class, and fill out highlight sheets in depth to pass with a higher grade on exams. Group project is not too bad, one 20 page report on a fiction/nonfiction organization. She wants you to come out of the class educated.
Prof Mickel really cares about her specialization and it really shows. The lectures are always interesting because she incorporates discussion. The group project that comprises 30% of your grade felt really unnecessary.
Amazing professor. Grade is based on 3 test, 17-20 pages group project, and presentation. The professor really want the students to passed her class, she give couple classes time for the group to work together on their project.
Amy is a great professor that understands that a 101 class is just an introduction. She expects you to participate and get something out of the class, but isn't expecting you to master the subject. Her study guides are very helpful for exams and she will help you fill them out/review them. Project is big, get a good team! :)
Great professor. Knows her stuff and knows how to teach. Do NOT buy the textbook, you will never use it. Group project is easy (presentation or debate, AND a 20 page research paper (you gather your own data on an organization)) if you have a good group. Tests are easy, 3 and no cumulative final. Tests based on chapter highlight sheets done in class
You will not need your textbook if you regularly attend class, which you definitely should! Not open book testing because all exams are nearly exact word for word on highlight sheets (class notes). One group project that consist of a 17-20 page essay (don't worry about the length, its easy if you follow highlight sheets as a guide).
She is amazing. She knows the names of every student. She gives a studyguide make sure you attend lectures and fill in the questions. to study for the test i suggest making a quizlet. The group project is not bad as long as you start early and make sure you have a good group.
Dr. Mickel is the BEST professor that I have had in the College of Business Administration!!
this was her 1st time doing online and the only problem was with the tests. the tests are a bit hard so I recommend reading the book along with doing the highlights sheet she gives out (it's a study guide) overall I really enjoyed this class. She is very nice and makes the lectures fun/interesting and you will have to work in a group occasionally
Great Prof! FUN class, lectures are once every 2 weeks roughly, but pretty fun and involved breakout rooms (group work, easy). Only semi-tough thing is the exams, short-time limit, about 1 minute and 30 secs each question (mult. choice), do highlight sheets and understand the applications, and you'll be fine.
I don't even know what to say-we've not met in class in a long time, and there's been no assignments really. Not sure what that's about. The few assignments we have had are reasonable, and she gives good feedback. Wish I saw more of her!
She's a good person who actually cares about her job, nothing difficult some HW here and there which is really easy, 3 exams , just know what to study all MC and u should be ok
Really sweet, caring, and understanding teacher who truly cares about students. My class was asynchronous so we either watched prerecorded lectures or were in a live zoom meeting. The professor tried to make class fun and interesting, telling personal stories to relate. Highly recommended this teacher for an easy A if any effort is put forth.
She is a really nice person and cares about our opinions. She's also a great instructor and ties class concepts to real life situations. The lectures were half asynchronous and synchronous (attendance mandatory). She makes you type what you learned during lecture and grades it. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and looked forward to zoom sessions.
Online she does biweekly meetings where attendance is mandatory, the other weeks you do a self guided assignment. I wish that this class was in person for me because she does really care about if the students are learning. Exams are easy if you do the work and the work is not hard at all.
She is a very responsible and caring professor. Though I'd say her test a kind of hard but she gives you the materials you need like highlight sheets to review. If you are familiar with your lecture videos and did the highlight sheet and do all the assignments, you can at least get a B+ in the course even if your exam score were maybe 78-85%
An assignment every week, 3 exams, it was an awesome class I would definitely recommend.
She was nice. The highlight sheets did not help at all. She was very hard on grade and was in panic of teaching an online class sue to Covid. I expected so much better, but when you mess up one exam say goodbye to your A because she won't understand you are going through the same thing. I lost my 4.00 GPA WITH needing only 2 points from A.
Look, the exams are the most important thing to this class and solely going off her highlight sheets will give you a mediocre grade. You need to actually study the material within the textbook and really pay attention during class, EVEN THE VIDEOS SHE SHOWS IN CLASS. She's a sweetheart and an extra tip is to try hard on the HW because she gives EC.
Asynchronous. 3 exams+biweekly assignments. Don't buy textbook, find PDF file online. Exams are timed, about less than 2 min per question so u rly have to know the material before u start. I suggest adding the class Discord and befriending other students to compare the study guide before each test. Zoom breakout groups in each session. Take her!
Prof. Mikel was overall a great professor! Class was Asynchronous with biweekly zoom meetings. Attending them are mandatory as you are asked what you learned in the meeting. Tests aren't terribly hard but time length to take was rather short. Homework was very easy, and she does offer extra credit. Would take for HROB again!
Prof. Mickel provide work sheets that are not too useful. its simply taking topics to be covered. There are 3 exams and no study guide is provided. The lectures are interesting and assignments are due bi-weekly. Timed exams put too much pressure and there is no clue of what questions be look like.
This was a hybrid class, met in class only 6times. Her recorded lectures are all you need(I did not read the book, just took very detailed notes of her lectures). Gives Highlight sheets(study guides) which are VERY helpful. Test questions are mostly applicational scenarios. 1hw per week -RESPONDUS (no vid or mic though) -STUDY THE HIGHLIGHT SHEETS!
She is an amazing kind teacher. Course load & material was fun & easy. 1 assignment/per week (1hr max). Never used the textbook b/c what she provided was plenty. Exams are semi hard (only 3) but do the highlights sheet & have it with you during exam you will be fine. Offers EC frequently just if you write more on assignments. EASY A, good teacher.
Lectures & videos in class are always fun to watch. Meets 6x in the semester, very convinent. Test are on respondus but doesn't hear sound or video tape, only secures the browser. Assignments are so easy to do. Each class you attend, you write a sentence of what you learned for points. This class is my fav class this semester & would take again.
She gives EASY EC based on if you give effort into your hw. HW IS SO EASY (30 min or less). Lectures are so interesting & she is fun and engaging. BEST HROB 101 teacher. TAKE IT WITH HER. Hard thing is exams but do highlight sheet & you will pass. She offers EC & most people have a B or A. Caring women, easy to reach out to & easy office hours.
She's very nice and knowledgeable. Her class is organized and she explains well. Attendance is Mandatory but it's one time a month. The weekly assignments are easy but they don't lift your over all grade that much. There are no quizzes. There are 3 exams, but you have to take them through a lockdown browser. If you need help, reach out to her.
Take her if you can!!! She is such a great teacher who tries to make her lectures engaging. This class was hybrid, she only made us go about 8 times the whole semester. With that, there will be many self-studying, and there is a "high-light sheet" for every exam so do those ahead of time. GO TO CLASS IT COUNTS FOR POINTS.
We only had to meet in class like 7 times and those classes were mandatory. Most of her lectures are done at home and you are given highlight sheets which are EXTREMELY helpful for the tests. You want to put your 100% in your highlight sheets because it will make it very easy when you do your tests. Tests are open note and easy. She's very caring.
All she does is talk about her past experiences, and her lectures are BORING!!! she provides 3 exams with lockdown. the HW was easy. she's nice, but her lectures were boring and sleepy all the time
She is an amazing professor. Her classes were only twice a month and they were very engaging/fun to attend. The assignments are completely based on your own thoughts, making them very easy to complete. 3 exams are based on highlight sheets that she creates and helps you fill out throughout the semester.
Overall horrible experience. Do not take her, all she does is rant about her past. Impossible to pass her class and does not care about her student's success at all whatsoever. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER! She tanked my GPA and anyone who says, 'Just make a highlight sheet and you'll be fine for the exam' is misleading you. She paraphrases all exam materials to a level where understanding is nearly impossible, regardless of how much preparation you've done. She's basically a Karen-type professor. Please take it with prof Shao.
Avoid taking her. She does not care about students success at all. Her exams are ridiculously hard and don't align with her lectures at all.
If I could give zero stars I would. Embarrasses students in front of the entire class. Does not have any manners to teaching. Should be working at a zoo instead.
idk how this woman still has a degree. sorry excuse of a "professor"
Do not take this class with her. She is racist and does not care about students success at all. She is so caught up in her ego. Don't understand how she became a professor.
I'll be honest I don't really remember much if the Professor was bad or not. But I do know I didn't find it difficult except for the exams which can be questionable. Knowing the material should be able to help you pass the class. We had 3 online exams, 7 assignments, and mandatory polls for Spring 2023.
Lectures boring, but only had to show up for class for half the sem. Ig ppl struggle with the exams, but I thought they were easy as I got As on each exam w/o studying. Def complete the highlight sheets, but your grade will prob be more dependent on how well you actually know the concepts and your ability to apply them to scenarios.
Professor Mickel was very passionate about the subject and wanted everyone to succeed. First 2 Exams were online but Final was in person due to academic dishonestly between sections.
In class, she shows videos related to the chapter and nothing more. In exams, she asks questions from the textbook. The highlight sheet that she gives you to complete will never help you in an exam, even if she says so. Studied everything by myself. If you take her class get ready to watch videos in her class.
Assignments & reading the textbook is doable but tedious. Highlight sheets don't really help during the exam or studying. Relies on textbook too much, so the pre-recorded and in class lectures feel kind of useless and repetitive. I know people don't like the videos, but I prefer videos over more reading and assignments, so I'm not complaining.
This is an easy class with one assignment every other week. Three exams in person (open note) and not cumulative. The exams are easy if you study the "Highlight" sheets, read, and go to class. Attendance is graded. Professor Mickel is passionate about what she teaches and cares for her students success. Her hybrid class meets once every other week.
She's a very caring professor, but the three exams are quite challenging. She allows you to use notes during the exams. Make sure to attend her classes, listen to lectures, and read the textbook. There are a few extra credit assignments available to help boost your exam scores. However, her exams can be frustrating, even if you study for them.
She is nice and very accommodating to students. She is only making things harder bc of previous classes, but she still tried her best to help students pass. She makes study guides for exams for u to fill out. If u want to pass the class with an A, then do ur best on the study guide! Minimal effort on study guide will get you a C at least :)
The class is tough, but using Unstuck study alongside the textbook and study sessions can really help manage the workload. Avoid getting on the professor's bad side - stay engaged and you'll get through it.
She is kind of a karen towards students but can be helpful and nice. Class should just be online it is pointless to go but it does count towards your grade. Material is straightforward, or you think so until you take the test and barely pass. She lets you use highlight sheets on the test but they don't really help. The tests are the hardest part.
She provides highlight sheets for exams, useful for referencing terminology. Attending class is mandatory due to participation via Slido, and biweekly regular assignments. Exams are brutal, but the workload is manageable. Despite some negative reviews, I found her to be fair.
The professor was always kind and willing to help with things. Textbook is available for free online PDF. Attendance is mandatory. Curriculum isn't very technical. All in all pleased with my experience.
Super friendly! Hybrid class, only met once a week, super easy subject and exams were open note. About 4 exams a semester including final, only 6 "larger" assignments that were still simple. Exams were a little tricky, lectures notes only did so much, you have to understand concepts and be able to explain them in your own words. Would take again!
The professor was clear and concise. She provides highlight sheets to use for midterm and exams because they are pretty tough. Her lectures are available on canvas if you miss any days. Participation is mainly on Slido which is anonymous and how she keeps attendance.
very nice professor, clearly cares for her students. fair grader and there aren't too many hw assignments throughout the semester. class is mandatory and technology is allowed. her exams are heavy but just complete the highlight sheets and study beforehand and you should be fine.
