She was a great teacher. She spent class time lecturing but was very entertaining but it's important to take notes. The reviews are helpful and the tests are short answer. Don't let that scare you though because if you paid attention and took notes the test is easy. There are 2 papers over 2 books it's the usual amount of work.

She is one of the best teachers I have had. She makes the subject interesting and fun! The tests are not unreasonably hard, if you study and takes notes you will be perfectly fine.

She is hands down the best teacher I have ever had. If you struggle with history like I did, don't worry she makes it fun. The bulk of her class is lectures so its important to show up on time. If you take the proper notes and study well the tests will be easy.

She is a really good professor, her lectures makes it easy to understand and pass the test if you forget to study for it. As long as you pay attention you should be good

Dr. Newhouse really enjoys teaching and has a passion for the material. Most of the class is lectures, but she does her best to make it interesting. The tests are not multiple choice, but she puts out test reviews out in advance enough to prepare and do well. I planned my schedule around taking her class next semester.

I never really caught onto history, it was too many things for me to remember. Dr. Newhouse did change that for me. Every class is a lot of material, but she had me on the edge of my seat and would leave me feeling inspired. I am definitely taking her again for 1302.

Good teacher, gives entertaining lectures. She writes on the board so you know exactly what to write down for notes. Gives lots of extra credit. She does get a little behind sometimes and is inconsistent in when she gives quizzes. Overall, I'd take her again.

Dr. Amy Newhouse really wants her students to succeed and helps you out in any way. She makes class kind of fun and her lectures arent too boring. Ive always had a hard time in history classes, but she explains everything thoroughly and will answer any questions you may have. Taking her again next semester!

She tells you at first about quizzes over the reading so it isn't a pop quiz. overall amazing class amazing professor her lectures really helped me understand it's not like the other professors where she reads off slides. you do have to read for the 2 essays towards the end of the semester. there are 2 essays 2 test the final and quizzes in between

Mrs. Newhouse is an amazing professor. Shes really helpful and gives great feedback on gardes. 3 test in total in the semeter. She really devotes her time to a student if thier not getting the content of the work. she is well organized and fun to listen to in lectures. TAKE HER!!! I PROMISE YOU WONT REGRET IT.

Dr. Newhouse makes every lecture so fun and brings it to life. Dr Newhouse is probably one the best Lonestar college has to offer. If you love History definitely take her class ASAP you wont regret.

Amy is am amazing Professor, she cares a lot and makes the class interesting and entertaining. I personally don't like history but hearing her teach and explain a lot of things is amazing. Exams are not too heard if you pay attention and study well.

A wonderful teacher who really cares about her students. Shes incredibly approachable and understanding (perfect for you back to school while working people!). I would absolutely recommend her to anyone. No free handouts, but is very forgiving and you actually learn when you attend her lectures.

This is honestly my favorite class I have had so far in college. I actually did not want the lecture to end because it was that interesting. It is not a blow off class but if you do the work and listen you'll be totally fine. 10/10 recommend!!!!!!!

I absolutely love her classes the way she lectures it really helps me a lot shes she goes through and explains and doesnt do it on a PowerPoint but Im sad Ive already taken all her classes but you wont regret taking her best professor hands down!!!

Dr. Newhouse gives great lectures! History is usually boring, but she makes it interesting and easy to understand. Exams are free response, but if you show up and listen to her lectures and complete the readings, youll do fine. The textbook is not required. There are daily quizzes over readings & projects over the course assigned books.

Dr. Newhouse is such a good professor! The textbooks are HIGHLY recommended and she'll have pop quizzes on the readings but she grades them for participation for an extra boost. She organizes her notes very well. She doesn't believe in multiple choice tests but as long as you understand her lectures, it should be an easy B

She helps her students as best as she can and even helps when doing some of her essays. Hardly ever gives us homework but I liked how she taught and the way she explains things. One of my best professors in my first semester of freshman year.

Professor Newhouse was a nice lady. However, she made fun of different religions and political views. I don't think she liked me, and she made fun of people like me. I never spoke in class. She graded me extremely hard and it seemed like she was making stuff up that was "wrong" with my homework. That said, she made history very fun to learn about.

She is the BEST! I took her History l and History ll! Sad that Covid-19 made us miss in-person lectures of her which are interesting and fun! Her class is composed of one Essay outline, one Essay, 2 lecture exams, quizzes (that she tells you about before time), mini projects and a Final! DEFINITELY GO FOR HER!!

Her video lectures help a lot. She gives you notes so you don't have to take them yourself. The lectures explain the notes which makes it easy to follow along with what she says. Study the notes to pass the two tests including the final. She gives you all the work that your gonna do in the whole class beforehand so you can get ahead if you want.

Dr. Newhouse is one of the best I have had. She explains topics really well, and lets you know if you do something wrong. Allows make up assignments and helps when needed.

I could write an essay about Dr. Newhouse. She is one of the most caring professors I've ever met. Her lectures were interesting and you will learn something. The class was very manageable. I took two summer courses and I was also preparing for my HESI exam. I had no issue. She replies to your emails fast and gives good feedback. love love love her

I took Dr. Newhouse for the six-week summer class online since of COVID-19. Since we are going through this pandemic she was very understanding and flexible about this. Her lectures on video were AMAZING! I have always loved American history but she pointed out different views of it that I have never thought of. She is a must take for history!

I was supposed to take her class in person, but because of the pandemic, I had to take it online. Despite being an online, it was very easy to learn and understand the material. Professor Newhouse provided video lectures which made everything else 100% better.

Best professor you'll get. Cares about her students and actually works with you to succeed. The tests aren't difficult and she expects you to do your readings before class so don't forget. I actually enjoyed going to class everyday and was entertained with her great personality! No better History teacher to take, get her while there's still spots.

She truly cares about her students succeeding in the class and reaches out to find ways on how to help out. Her lectures are really entertaining yet very informative, and she is very open about her beliefs on the subjects she is discussing which I respect. You can tell she was not used to online but has done a great job with it.

This is not your typical History class and if you expect and easy A I do not recommend taking her. However, Dr. Newhouse is organized, caring, and forgiving. She responds in a timely matter and will assist you with your thesis on the essay assignments. About 30 quizzes, 2 important papers, and 3 tests (notes are pretty similar to the test.

Must say that if you want to take an easy A class this won't be your choice as you will actually have to work. This professor provides students with many useful information sources with many formats not only from textbooks but also imparted through movies, videos, pictures vividly. She gave us care, thoughtfulness, and empathy with her students.

Dr. Newhouse is honestly great. She has video lectures for every chapter as well as typed notes. Weekly (simple) quizzes on the lectures. Her exams are NOT found on quizlet, but they are easy as long as you keep up with her lectures/notes. She also gives great feedback on assignments. If you do your part in this class, you'll definitely do great.

Professor Newhouse is a great professor. You can tell she tries her hardest to make the lessons easier since it's online and some students can lose focus. There are two or maybe more quizzes throughout the week, but they are fairly easy and are only five questions. Just purchase the textbooks needed and read her notes and the class is an easy A.

Shes a very nice professor. Her lessons are super easy since I took it online she has power points that go with the video lectures she posts. She also has word documents of basically all she talked about in the videos. She gives out extra credit and also her quizzes and tests are straight forward.

Overall pretty easy. 1-2 quizzes a week only around 5 questions. Short answer questions on tests and quizzes that come from notes, lectures, and other sources she provides for assignments. Term paper that you do have to read a book for. Make sure to stay on top of quizzes and notes/other sources which will be used for test questions.

Dr. Newhouse is very caring and is willing to work with you. You will take a mini quiz of 5 questions every lecture, but she gives you notes that are related to the video making test and quizzes easy. If you are looking for a class to slack off in, this is not the one. If you stay on top of the 2 videos and quizzes a week you'll be fine.

Great professor! The online lectures were informative and easy to follow. The quizzes and tests were also an easy A as long as you watch lectures and read the notes. The way her online class was structure really helps you learn about history. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Mrs. Newhouse is an amazing professor who gives the best lectures and she even provides notes for the lectures as well for the test. Also she gives only one discussion question for the whole semester, so just do the work and itll be an easy A.

Professor Amy Newhouse makes it easy to pass, she makes videos on the notes. If you watch her videos and read the notes the quizzes will be very easy.

Professor Newhouse was amazing to have with the online semester. Took her for history 1301 and 1302 and got an A both times. Very understanding and pretty easy to pass as long as you take her notes for the test.

Pretty good online class, a couple of fairly easy papers and more regular quizzes over the various topics in class, nothing too hard just enough to keep you thinking.

Took this course online, a bit lecture heavy, but notes are very helpful. 2+ weekly quizzes, 2 major tests throughout the course, tough grader when it comes to essays. Only one book that is necessary for a major essay. Do not miss out or fail the weekly quizzes, turn in assignments on time and you should do fine!

Very organized with her lessons. I took her class online and thought it would be difficult but her organization is really good so it's hard to get lost on what you need to do next. She made history interesting for me and makes what you learn in her class stick with you. Great professor!

Dr. Newhouse is the best History teacher ever.

She stops answering emails so if you have a question good luck. Quizzes are mostly short and simple but exams are long and free response and mutile choice. Her lecture are super super long and she rambles a lot but you do learn a lot. She makes notes for students of everything she lectures so it's fine. I've learned a lot of History with her.

She has quizzes every week and the videos she provides as a lecture are sooo long and boring. She will ramble literally about anything. Her quizzes are like 5-10 questions. 3 tests 2 papers. Im not sure why her ratings are so high but I will not be taking her for 1302.

I totally recommend taking Dr. Newhouse's History 1301 and 1302 if possible. I'm bummed I wasn't able to get her for 1302. She's AMAZING! She is very knowledgeable and makes history interesting. I can say I've learned so much and she keeps it real, doesn't sugar coat the true details of US history. Only required 2 books not expensive at all. LOVE!

I wouldn't take the class again Mini session Assignments have to be done by 7:59pm. She's a tough grader. gives good feedback though Don't recommend taking if you a full-time job. Class is very time consuming video Lectures are long and boring. once your grades are in you have no way of trying to at least get a better grade.

First off, she grades very tuff. Gives a lot of discussions. You cant cheat in this class, so dont pick her. Also, she checks for plagiarism, so dont pick her. You also have 2 essays in this class.

Her videos are about an hour long each, about 20 quizzes, 12 tables to fill out over rebellions, 2 of the tables are over books you read and quotes are pulled from the book, 2 tests, and 2 essays. Overall, the class is a lot of work but as long as you do it then you'll get an A.

She is horrible acts nice but before drop date but doesn't care !! Don't take her! She thinks that her class is the only class that you are taking and makes you do a lot of work! That is reading two history based chapter books and hour long lectures twice a week with a lot of Hw. She is also a heavy grader and does not care about the students.

I’m currently taking her right now, tons of homework and assignments. I have managed to stay on top of everything and study 1-2 hours a day. So far, I have an A and have passed all my tests. If you study and make an effort you will be ok. Just be aware she is pretty heavy on assignment. Overall fair class. I don’t regret taking her.

Solid HIST 1302 professor. You will pass as long as you show up.

LOVED her! I have never learned so much about history in my entire education. She cares so much about her students, their success and she gives great feedback to help you improve. Goes through assignments step by step and is detailed about everything. Her tests are open-note and a breeze if you study! Only had to write 1 paper + 1 other project.

Makes you want to come to class every time and learn new material! Lectures are interactive and are made to help students retain information for exams. Notes are amazing and help with understanding the overall timeline of the course.

Professor Newhouse is a very caring professor. She is always reminding people to do their homework. She also offers extra credit for those who didn't do that well on the test. Her quizzes are very easy. She does her own notes. For her test, if you watch her lectures and read her notes you'll probably be able to pass.

This professor cares about her students! She puts videos up of all her lectures and has notes of all her lectures. Test are essay form with some multiple choice. LISTEN to lecture and take good notes, she gives answers in her lectures. I personally think it is a pretty easy class but that will depend on how much effort you put into her class.

I took Dr. Newhouse for 1302 she is honestly the best, she cares for her students and wants the best for them, you have quizzes each week but if you attend class its optional, exams are open note and there is 4 of them and 2 essays they are pretty easy and dr Newhouse tends to help a lot, I got an A in her class, she is fair and amazing take her!!

History has always been my least favorite subject but she has definitely changed my mind. Her lectures are super interesting and when I couldn't make it to class some days, she has her lectures posted online for either that case or review. She is super caring and if you have an issue she is always there to help.

Gives daily quizzes but if you attend class and participate she normally just gives you a 100%. Great lectures and explains history really well. I am still in highschool and her lectures were really easy to follow. She also helps her students out all you have to do is ask.

Even though summer classes are fast paced she made it to easy and clear on how to navigate through the course even on a time crunch. Her lectures and notes go into depth and are a excellent guide. She is the Best!!!

TAKE DR. NEWHOUSE FOR HISTORY 1302!!! I cannot emphasize this enough. Her lectures are so unique and wonderfully made to where she writes on the board exactly what you need to have written in your notebook. Furthermore, if you miss a day, no problem! Her entire transcript of notes are accessible via D2L. She is truly one of the best professors!

Additionally, she provides her own copies of the notes and powerpoints on D2L to access, in case you are absent! This class is by no means a breeze, but she will provide you with tools necessary to be successful!
