She is tough, but fair... Her class was well taught and I enjoyed being in it each day... Work is hard, she expects greatness from each student... But if you pay attention and put in the effort, then you'll do well...

The Class isn't easy. Newhouse doesn't like when your late and wants you to participate in class discussions. She responds to emails at a timely manor, and tries to point you in the right direction instead of giving the answer. If you're willing to try, she'll pass you. She cares and wants you to actually learn, and I think I really have. :)

Dr. Amy is my hero, and I am proud that I was a student of hers. She is precise, does lecture and gives exact expectations of work required and will work hard to make sure you understand the context.

Doesn't give out many test. For every class you have to read and study so that is expected yet her test aren't hard. What you study and took notes on is 100% of the time in the test . If you pay attention, take notes, and study before the test you should be good to go.

Amy Newhouse is a great professor. If you put in the work, you will more than likely get great results. She offers an extra credit opportunity to summarize everyday lectures to help study for upcoming tests. She looks for thought process and believes in partial credit. DO NOT MISS A CLASS! She assigned three essays (research areas were given to you) and graded hard on it but easy to maintain. Instructor was very informative and provides all material you need to be successful in her class. Would definitely take her class again. She is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

Daily assignments came straight from audio or sometimes video lecture. Give yourself enough time to listen to the whole lecture, go over the readings, and look at the slideshow(even though it has no words, you figure out what everything is at some point). Dont skip anything and try to use google!

Summer course: 4 tests, 20 lectures, 20 quizzes. I learned a lot this summer about the medieval time period, however she was hard to contact due to her being on vacation in Germany, and she didn't give the promised feedback on tests or quizzes. Goodluck!

I took this during the summer online. There were assignments due everyday at midnight. You had some readings and then a lecture video to watch; after those you took a short quiz. As long as you do it you will make a good grade. There was extra credit, which helps if you missed an assignment. Overall, she very nice and has a great personality!

Summer course has 4 tests, 20 lectures, 20 quizzes. I learned a lot this summer about the medieval time . There are 4 tests that are worth 60% of your grade, so it is very important to do well on these. Some of the readings can be very long and also if listening to the lectures can take up a lot of time if you're busy during the summertime. I recommend taking this course during either the fall or spring semester that way the workload would be lighter.

I appreciate her perspective of higher learning, but she holds her students to a high standard. She is NOT an easy teacher, she makes you work for your grade and often lashes out at those who don't toe the line. Her content is interesting but she requires a lot of participation and the content is heavy.

Took class during the summer, make sure you have enough time because there is a lecture and quiz everyday. All the reading is provided, I did not use the textbook once, which she told us after I had bought one.

It's a very relaxed class, but participation is a must! Assignments due just about every night. Have a good pair of headphones too that don't hurt your ears. There are a decent amount of videos and audio to listen to. Overall it's a good class;I would definitely select this professor again.

Make sure an pay attention to the lectures and reading the smallest detail from the reading or 45 minute lecture could be on the 5-20 min quiz. overall your participation determines your grade . pretty straight forward and the daily quizzes actually helped me keep track of my other classes because I knew I had to log on everyday to complete my quiz

I took Dr. Newhouse for an online general humanities class, and though it is only a six week class, it's a lot of work. I wouldn't recommend taking this class with an otherwise heavy course or workload because it is very time consuming. My one complaint is she can be a bit derogatory about other religions, specifically Catholicism.

Overall not that bad. Understanding of time constraints. time limit on quizzes and tests (to prevent cheating which is understandable) but time limit was still not enough for me on a few assignments.

Professor Newhouse is honestly a kind-hearted person. She doesn't rush but when she does it's only because she's so engrossed in her lectures. Yes, every once in awhile one would have to read those textbooks and have those pop quizzes- but one should be fine as long as they do the readings beforehand. Great class. You take lots of notes, she gives a test review before the tests. The tests are an accumulation of your review and notes. The homework is usually readings from your book, that you may or may not have a quiz on. So make sure to do the readings. Do all this and you'll pass the class.

She uses power point pictures for visuals but it doesn't really flow with her lecture. Overall a nice teacher, just not my preference of lecture.

Honestly it wont be an easy class. You will find yourself taking a ton of notes and if you aren't big on reading books, well goodluck. There are maybe 2 quizzes a month over the books and 3 tests throughout the semester. She adds a lot of humor to her lectures which makes the class fun. I would definitely retake her.

Right from day one she encourages students to look for the best price for the required books and warns about how the campus store not only overcharges for the books, but also how one of the required books comes bundled with a textbook that won't even be used in her class. She would inform the class of the best possible deal, typically on Amazon.

I took Newhouse for 1301 & 1302 history. Shes caring and always puts students first. Her lectures include outlined note taking and she has pip quizzes to insure you are up to date in the textbook. I highly recommend her as she makes history enjoyable.

Ms. Newhouse, soon to be marry though, is great, i have never enjoyed a Hist like i enjoyed her's. Taught in a fun way unlike other boring history professor

Amazing professor. She lectures and writes notes on the white board along with you, so that she doesn't move too fast. Her reviews are a clear glance of the test. Her tests are not multiple choice, but they're also not difficult at all. Sometimes she gives quizzes over readings from the book, but if you're in class, you're guaranteed a 70.

Professor Newhouse is incredible in that she's very respectable but also funny and relatable. She will really do everything within her power to help you succeed, but she won't hold your hand through it. There are very easy and short readings before every class and two essays over books. The tests are easy. If you try, you'll get a good grade.

Be prepared to read the books, and there are a lot of quizzes but are very easy. There are two essays about the books and two tests the test are not multiple choice. She is a nice teacher and explain the topics very well, the only thing that I didnt like was that in some of the questions in the test you need to answer with one word or sentece.

I've taken this professor twice an she's still awesome. She writes everything in an outline format on the board and the tests questions come from exactly what she writes. Reading quizzes are common, but she gives you a 70 for just your name so you really cant fail this class.

Professor Newhouse's lectures are really helpful and if you come to class everyday and read over the notes for the test you should be good. Make sure you do the homework readings because she has pop quizzes.

She is a great teacher. There is a lot of reading, but most of it is very interesting and not just textbook material. As long as you follow along during lectures and make sure you keep up with the readings you'll have a good time in her class.

The work is mandatory and theres no way around it, you have to read and put the work in to pass. She definitely does her part so its really all on the student. Shes super nice and charming and I will for sure take her class again.

I took Dr. Newhouse for Hist. 1301 and I can confidently say that I made the right decision. Her lectures are pretty straight forward and are a big portion of the tests so you must go to class. However the workload she gives out is not a ridiculous amount. Just simple reading quizzes, 2 book essays, and 3 tests. She is very enjoyable, recommended!

Professor Newhouse gives the most amazing lectures and she even writes exactly what you should be writing in your notes on the board so you never miss a thing. I will say though, if you struggle with remembering information or short answer tests are not your thing, then do not take her class. All of her quizzes and tests are short answer.

But coming from someone who had a low B in 1301 with a powerpoint professor and literally knew nothing on multiple choice she is definitely worth taking.

She is just like any required classes you have to take, you are going to have to read 2 books and do book reports. She was lenient on grading a few times and sometimes does extra credit if you are desperate. Tests and exams are all hand written and be prepared to take notes every time you walk in class.

My favorite teacher in college and made the transition from high school easier. She's so funny and she tells you right off the bat that the tests are over everything in the lectures, NOT the textbook. Very engaging with her students, and looked forward to every class. In this class you have to read a lot but overall she is great. She is kinda easy grader and give extra credit. If you need help on the tests or essays, just email her and then she will tutor you after class. There are a lot quizzes but it's all in the calendar that she gave you in the first day of class. Be sure to be in class to take notes. The notes are simplified and in outline format, so it is easier to understand. She gives a review for each test, and they are 85% accurate of what is on the test. The other 15% comes from very short weekly readings.

The test are pretty difficult, with no multiple choice and all free response. However, this class is worth the take. Dr. Newhouse gives a very intriguing perspective on history, and is very inspiring. Her lectures are incredible with a side of humor!

I took her online 6 weeks class for 1301. There are video lectures almost daily, but her side of humor and passion in teaching history made it bearable and enjoyable to watch and learn. I took a six week course I am not use to online classes ,but Dr. Newman made it interesting ,caring, hilarious and would use real characters to explain the lessons and it was very well played. Definitely if it wouldn't been the way she teaches her lessons, no way I would passed with an A!

Her lecture notes are very helpful especially if you cant focus during her lectures. Quizzes arent that hard but most are timed so if you get anxiety I do not recommend it. I only had trouble with about 25% of her quizzes. If you are the type of student to ask a lot of questions do not take her! She seems to get annoyed by that.

Online format is great everything you need is provided from lecture notes, videos, power points etc. The books are an easy read and are super short only read about 10 pages a section.

Depending on what time you email Dr. Newhouse; she sometimes took a while to respond back, other than that; as long as you participate and turn in all assignments, and you read the notes carefully, you will be successful on the quizzes and the whole class in general.

(Not true at all).If you watched her video weekly you will do well.(Do not expect to google and find answers for the test). Tests are logical and no need to memorize the book.

I took professor Newhouse's online Hist1301 class. She is very knowledgeable and bubbly. Her coursework is open all semester and every topic has a video lecture. She really made the lectures memorable which made it easy to do the work. I personally preferred her online class over my others, it really helped me keep up with my work and not procrastinate. Love her!

Dr. Newhouse is a great professor. She cares for her students and responds to e-mails in a reasonable time. She offers a lot of material to get a good understanding of the topic. Make sure to stay on top of the quizzes and review the notes for every chapter. This class is not hard as long as you stay on top of your work, it's not a blow off class.

DO NOT TAKE HER...I'm kidding but Professor Newhouse is very lenient and expects you to do your best since you are a college student and not a high school. And all you need to do in her class is read and follow her instructions and you'll pass

Prof. Newhouse made HIST1301 so much easier, and plus she is so relatable and funny during her lecture videos! People are often boring when lecturing, but she makes it to where it is fun and relatable! I really wish she taught HIST1302 online, but she does not. Take her for HIST1301 and you will not regret it. Be organized and you will get an A/B!

Horrible professor, way too much homework and other reviews are fake! I took Accounting and this and this class was more work and she drops you a grade letter for something petty. Also she acts nice before drop date and doesn't care about the students

Dr. Newhouse made history an interesting subject to learn. Her lectures are clear, informational, and she teaches in a way that helps you remember the information the moment it comes out of her mouth. Her quizzes/tests are very similar to reviews. Assignments are not heavy either. She's also a nice person in general. I def recommend taking her.

This professor provides video lectures that are both funny and interesting! I really enjoyed her class which is something because I'm not a fan of history. She always responds promptly and provides extra credit. Watch her lecture videos and you'll be fine!

Dr. Newhouse is an amazing professor, she truly cares about each one of her students, lectures are GREAT, she is well-spoken and she goes out of her way to help on assignments. Focus during lectures it will help so much for exams. Attendance = weekly quiz grade, 2 test w/essays, 1 research paper, book project, in-class quiz, final essay and test.

I enjoyed watching her lectures as she was entertaining and explained everything well. There was one essay over a book and one or two quizzes each week that were usually easy and only a few questions. The deadline for assignments was at 7:59 pm which is a little random but doable.

You show up, you get credit. If you don't show up, you take a quiz to get credit. Easy 100's. Yes, you do read two books, but probably equal to 100 pages all together. Do not be afraid of the low reviews. If you want to cheat or have an easy teacher, don't go to college. But as far as college professors go, Dr. Newhouse is awesome.

The best history teacher ever. You will not regret taking her class; she is super helpful funny, and understanding. She knows exactly what she is doing and even though her assignments can take a while, she gives you plenty of time, help, and resources. I encourage you to take her classes; I am taking her for 1302 and I am excited 10/10.

there is a lot of essays and reading and she is not helpful. she yaps a lot. be prepared to be overworked and bored to death. also, docks a lot of points for random things.

If you complain about the amount of reading or essays in this class, you may not be ready for college. Dr. D is very kind and tries her best to keep her class engaged. I am a working mom and I'm taking this class in the summer (mini) this class is a piece of cake if you do the SHORT readings, listed to the music and keep your notes organized.

The best professor at Lone Star. Dr. Newhouse is a skilled and entertaining lecturer. Her classes are so fun to be a part of. The tests are easy and the essays are honestly fun to write because she puts interesting readings together for you. I wish I could've taken more classes with her. Dr. Househouse genuinely cares about each student.

Dr. Newhouse is easily my favorite professor. She is passionate and easy to work with. I love how organized the made the class. It made everything feel simple instead of overwhelming and messy!

She is very whole hearted and honest. Participation matters a lot, and she gives a bunch of opportunities for extra credit and its almost impossible to fail her class unless if you don't show up or do any of the homework she assigns.

Her lectures were always super clear and easy to follow, which made staying on track really simple. She explains things in a way that just makes sense, and she keeps the class interesting without making it overwhelming. I always felt like I was actually learning, not just cramming. Easily one of the best professors I've had!

Dr. Newhouse it's very inspirational since she knows her content and tries to conected it with problems in the the world and America today which is very helpful. She lets you submit late work until the very lat day of class . She was overall an amazing professor.

The professor was great with the organization of material. The textbook is free as long as you print it at home. Towards the end of the semester, plenty of extra credit was offered and allowed to submit late work. Great Professor!

Dr. Newhouse is an excellent teacher. You are not going to like her if you want to do the bare minimum or use chat GPT. She does a lot of helping and handholding for students but will also expect you to do your part. The classes are almost entirely lecture but it is not boring and she relates history to stuff today.

I would definitely take this class again if I had time.

Professor Newhouse is amazing her energy and her way of teaching really helped, during her lectures. she gives good feedback if you need any help.

she's very involved in making sure the classroom feels comfortable and interesting, there will be some pop quizzes but she's very informative about it beforehand. as long as you give it your best and request for feedback if necessary, she's always up for it.
