Amy is hands down the best History teacher I have ever had, her enthusiasm for the subject only asdds to her wealth of knowledge, plus she's pretty cute.
Knows how to keep history interesting. Great teacher!
she was an awesome teacher, very easy, and interesting. she was all around really easy going and understanding of the class too.

Sooo Helpful! Class goes by sooo fast! Shes a total hottie!!!
She is definetly a cutie. I'd love to meet her in a bar one day. Her classes are generally easy. You do have to study quite a bit for her mid-term and finals. There is a 4 and 10 page paper assignment that take some time. Her class isnt really difficult.

Just saying, as a girl, I think she's pretty. Her exams are easy, just need to study well for them. Just a midterm and a final. She has an assginment do every Friday, easy 10pts each. Fun class, great teacher. Papers were easy, to ME.

online class.great teacher! only OL class where the teacher graded everything on-time. great feedback.work-load wasn't light -(3)3-8 page essays due at sime time as mid-term. more concerned w/quality than quantity-which was good. light "homework". weekly ?'s were interesting.disappointed w/text book selection, but definitely recommend her!
She's pretty cute.
awesome teacher.super nice.she actually made history fun and exciting. gives study guides for all her tests that make them super easy.had to write one big paper, but you got to choose your topic. had to turn in one short paper per week on articles out of the book. had to read one book (candide) and write a paper about it.highly recommended.
I took her class last semester, and she was pretty cool! The tests just need to study, because she gives a study guide, it makes easier!and she really understands if you have a problem.Recommended.
Teaches the class like she is teaching a bunch of 3rd graders. Gives tests on material we haven't covered, and then we take notes on it. Notes are pointless because nothing in the class is cumulative
I agree with the other person who said she teaches like a third grade teacher. Honestly, she acts as though we are in junior high school! She gives a quiz over two chapters every week, and then teaches about the material. TAKING NOTES IS POINTLESS BECAUSE THERE IS NO MID-TERM OR FINAL! Very very easy class as long as you do not bomb the quizzes.
Fun class, but lots of reading and writing. Recommended.
What a history buff! I was so inspired by her passion for those old fogies. She made me realize the importance of history and I ain't never thought that could happen!
What a very understanding professor. I had a lot of personal issues the semester I was taking her course, and she was like an angel professor sent from heaven, who let me get some extra time to finish the course, and I really appreciated her leniency on the end-of-term. Very impressed by her professionalism. Would definitely recommend.
the teacher is never there, she must of missed 4 or more days of class, we watched a movie for a week. but the one bad part of the class is there are 5,5 page papers assignments and one 8 page paper.
Amy is a horrible teacher. When discussing notes, she makes slide shows that consist ONLY of pictures so you have to write down what she says otherwise you won't know what to put for notes. Also we have way too many papers for this being a History class, I had more papers for this class than I did for my english class.
She had us do too much in class group work for my taste. I am paying to learn from her, not other twenty year old students; so that made me very frustrated. I am a history major, so I got an A in this class and found it pretty easy. Would I suggest her? I don't know... it depends on what you like. I myself would probably not take her again.
I took her online Western Civilization class. She was wonderful. I learned quite a bit from her and I appreciated her feedback. There were about 6 4 page papers due throught the semester. I wrote them each in one day and got a's on them all! She's very understanding and lenient. I would love to take another one of her online classes.
amy is the best history teacher ive ever had. Her knowledge and passion to teach make the class fly by.I would like to teach, and she sets a wonderful example of a teacher, and not just someone there for a paycheck!
amy is amazing, awesome teacher, and she is pretty hot, which is my main reason for going to class. she has passion for history, which also makes class fun.
Amy is very articulate, passionate, understanding, and her classes are a nice balance of lecture and dissucsion.
GREAT teacher. Knowe her stuff seriously. Will explain things until you understand. SERIOUSLY nice to look at. I'm not kidding, distractingly hot at times.
Amy Godfrey is an excellent professor. She is very understanding, grades fairly, her lectures are enjoyable, and yes, she is HOT. there is a fair amount of group discussion, which is not a bad thing. it is hard to pay attention sometimes, because of her intoxicating beauty, but there is nothing sexier than a beautiful and smart woman.
Amy is really nice. she really knows her history, and is able to teach otherwise boring stuff and make it interesting and fun.
impressive, very intelligent, knows her history. i would definately recommend her as a history professor.
great class. great teacher. if you need to take any history classes, take godfrey!
awesome lady! i've always loved history, and amy makes history even better. not very much homework, grades based off essays, midterm, final. overall, great class!
best prof i've ever had! she is awesome, funny, fair grader, and has a really nice positve engery. her teaching style is great, easy to understand and follow.
godfrey is worth taking, not a lot of busy work, essays midterm and final are all that you need to do. classes are based mostly of lecture and group work, watch a movie or two, very nice lady, nice to look at, very helpfull.
great. lectures aren't boring, classes are fun, essays expectations were clearly stated, good study guides for midterm and final, overall an excellent professor, recommend that you take godfrey for all your history needs.
great, awesome, helpful, insightful. i'd definatley take her again.
great teacher, had her for an online class and it was fairly easy, homework was easy, papers were pretty easy, test were ok (you need to study though), w/d recommend her if you need a history class
HOT. nice to look at and very intelligent and nice. recommend taking her for any history class.
great professor, she is very smart. she's young and adorable. class is pretty interesting. lectures are not boring, and works with students. helpful, and sets up the class to where it's easy to pass.
Exremely knowledgable, competent, helpful, has clear expectations. workload is not heavy, 2 essays, midterm and a final. In my opinion, best professor at waubonsee.
totally nice and sweet, she giggles a lot, has a great smile, and is pretty cute too. she is a great teacher, has a great deal of knowledge, a little too much group discussion for my taste, gives outlines for chapters which is very helpful, exams are easy, essay assignments are resonable. super cute.

Amy Godfrey is a great teacher. She encourages critical thinking and thorough analyzation of all the sources we look at. I feel like I really understand american history now. She is always ready to answer questions and help you out in any way.

AMAZING! History with Amy Godfrey is an incredible experience!
Best prof ever, funny, lighthearted, intelligent, makes history relevant, she ensures students are well prepared for essays and exams. she is pretty cute too.

after 2 years at waubonsee, amy godfrey is by my favorite professor. she truly cares about her students, and wants her students to be succsessful. she is super friendly, intelligent, and presents history in a clear and conicise manner. she is very pretty as well.
Amy Godfrey is amazing. Best history teacher i have ever had. she has a phd and shes gorgeous.
Quite a brilliant professor, she certainly knows her history, her classes are fun, grade is based on essays, participation, midterm, and final. she is very approachable and very helpful. and yes, she is quite attractive.
Excellent teacher
Really Really fun class, History of the Middle East is not easy material, but Dr Godfrey makes difficult subjects accessible and helps students understand complex historical issues/concepts.
Great teacher! I have had her for several history classes and enjoyed all of them. It is important to take notes in class because it helps on her tests. 8 years worth of Waubonsee teachers and she is excellent!
Great teacher! Easy to understand, easy to get along with! A must when looking for a history teacher!
super nice. made history interesting and gave great outlines.
Dr. Fluttershy rocks the house. But seriously, really great teacher; her personality and energy makes the class really enjoyable.
I love Amy! She is very knowledgeable, makes everything easy to understand, and she's so adorable. I have taken 2 classes with her and I would take more if I could.
Amy really seems like she enjoys history. She always gives outlines for the notes, and lets everyone know what to study for the midterm and final. I would gladly take another class with her.
Knowledgeable and smiley. She gives good study guides for her exams, and if you work for it you'll get an A. Be careful though, she gives out very few assignments so if you screw a few up you could ruin your grade.
Shes a nice lady, but not very organized. I felt like lectures were half-hazard with nothing going in the order of the outlines or powerpoints (nothing vauabe on powerpoints anyway). It is very easy to procrastinate with her so do it all early! Not really a chanse to redeme yourself after a bad grade either. and yes, shes hot, but shes married! lol
She knows what she is talking about. You should read the material before enter class because she will go through the pictures and text that is assigned. Her test are manageable. if you pay attention you will do fine.
She is a fantastic teacher. I hate history but I wanted to be there everyday she is very nice and always willing to help. She doesn't force you into assignments she tells you choices and lets you choose so its a lot easier for you. Best class I've ever taken. She doesn't teach HIS122 which I wanted to take if she taught it. I definitely recommend.
Took the telecourse with her. She set up the class so great. At first I was nervous to take a class that you have to teach yourself but I loved it. 5 short essays, 3 assignments, and 5 tests. I actually learned a lot and enjoyed the class very much.
Her syllabus looks worse than it is. Do the reading and participate in discussions and you will do fine in her class.
She is a great teacher! Material and expectations are clear. Easy grader. Extremely nice. I enjoyed this class.
Super easy class. Only tests are a midterm and a final which are all essay and short answer, but she gives you a study guide with the questions on it. There's two 5 page papers on two books you have to read. If you read the books, you'll get an A on them. There's also an easy map quiz. Do the work, and this class will be an easy A.
Awesome teacher, very clear with what she expects. I recommend going to class because the lectures give you what will be on the exams. Made the topic interesting to learn. I would like to take a class from this instructor again.
Just a around great teacher.
Took very little interest in the discussion board. Very organized online course, her expectations were clear from day one. Papers were very hard to write, but you got to choose the topic from 6 choices, so that made it a little better.
I have taken a few classes with her and I have loved her each time. She is a fun teacher and is really there for you. She makes you actually want to learn about history. If you pay attention you'll do great, since there aren't many tests. She is a history teacher to stick with to get the credits out of the way! Definitely recommend :).
There are two 5 page papers that are kind of hard. I don't like or understand history so the content was difficult for me. She grades them fair. Each week you answer 4-5 reading questions (takes about 30-45 mins) and usually 2 questions in discussion board(10-20 mins) There's an online midterm and final(you can find some answers online). Need books
The only grades are two papers, participation, a midterm and a final. She gives a study guide for the exams, which are all essay questions. Just use the study guide and look up the terms online and you'll be good.
I did not open my textbooks at all, only during group work in class. Do the study guide and you'll be fine. Also, you have 2 5-page papers due. Don't do them last minute because the last 2 essays looked so boring. Overall, great professor!
Fantastic teacher!! Grades based on two essays, two exams, and participation. Study guides are available for both exams. You get five essay options with due dates and you choose which two essays you want to write. She is very helpful and wants students to succeed. Would definitely take another class with her.
This was one of the worst classes I have every taken. I came to every single class at 8:30 sharp and sure everyone was tired! But every class she would sit and teach behind her computer and not show any enthusiasm. It was an early class, and did not keep me focused. She did not care about personal issues, and expected you to go to peers for help.
Professor Powers is one of those few and far between profs who actually cares about the student's situation. She's extremely accommodating. For the online class, there's two 5-page essays, a midterm, a final, and a final project. Participation each week via the discussion board is also a significant part of the grade.
I had Dr. Powers for HIS 205 in the spring of 2016. She was an engaging professor, and the coursework was light outside of class. I had a blast, and so should you. It's important to engage in dialogue in class, and there are current events assignments every thursday. However, I only turned in one or two of the fourteen required. I still passed :)
I really enjoyed taking her class. She lectures for every class so you might occasionally be dazing off. She only grades a few things so it is important to do good on the 2 tests and essay. Basically if you put the work in, you'll pass.
I enjoyed taking her class in the fall of 2016. She can sometimes be quiet and boring but she is very kind and understanding. We did break up lectures with group work and discussions although they weren't the most interesting. She explains what she wants well. Research paper was boring because she gave us the topic and research for it.
Amazing teacher, took history online, but she really cares how you do in the class, gives good feedback on how you did, only have to do discussion board posts and 8 unit questions a week, with a paper, midterm and final, but are all easy!
Professor Powers made class enjoyable and I learned alot!
As long as you show effort you will do great; This online course is easy just do the reading!
This online class was the best I've taken so far! Amy is fantastic, responds to emails promptly, and is always clear about her expectations. Expect to contribute to a discussion board once a week, answer 3-4 reading questions weekly (EASY though), 2 tests (always pretty easy), and one paper. I'm already signed up to take another class with her!
I loved Amy! She is an amazing speaker and really draws you into the material! She's very intelligent and interesting. If you miss one class here or there its not going to hurt you, just go over the notes on your own! Only thing is we used the main textbook one time, still, shes an amazing teacher!
I enjoy this professor a-lot! very sweet , easier grader , understanding and helpful and makes sure you understand what you are learning. lots of small work group that is easy to do.I would for sure take her as a professor again! highly recommend her.
I took her online history 121 class as my "easy" class for the semester. All was well until the minimum 7 page paper due in the 12th week of class comparing and contrasting 3 different Declarations of Independence's while using the Chicago style method. Also every week you have to write a couple paragraphs answering reading questions, super easy.
I loved Amy Powers in an educational way! I loved history before but, she has made me realize that history is WAY MORE Important than I believed. She has also set my standards for professors HIGHER & inspired me to think more about the enjoyment of learn/understand history & how we got here today. I am takin her class again for Western Civilization
Easy class with an easy structure. Just a homework assignment and a discussion each week followed by a midterm test. final test, and final paper. It's just rehashing the same thing over and over so it was easy.
I loved this class!! I took history of the Middle East, which I would honestly recommend to everyone. Amy is clearly passionate about what she does and will do anything to help you succeed. If you need a history class, definitely take one with her.
Easy, show up, then just prepare for the 3 tests and 2 papers. That's it. Do the work, all good here. Just don't assume you can blow off the class cause being late and not attending will affect your grade. Try to at least show up. Shes really really nice so theres no reason not to attend, very gleeful and pippy. Makes history fun fun fun to learn.
She only has a problem if you treat it like a blow off and decide not to show up for an easy A. Please show up, its at least the best amount of respect you can give. Shes so sweet. Great explanations. She has a PhD so she knows her stuff. Really good at making history fun and engaging. I promise you will pass her class if you do the work and attend
If you enjoy history take Powers. For a gen ed its an easy A. Really great in class discussions. Just 1 or 2 papers then like 3 tests, other than that ENJOY!
I loved her! Great Professor and she knows her material. I did learn new things, and the Gold Rush project turned out to be a lot of fun. She is very versatile and willing to try new things.
She is really good professor. Her lecture is good but you have to read a book. The exams is take home and it's easy. You will have to do every week assignment and you have to participate in class. She is so amazing!!@
I had her during quarantine, the in-person class became online. She was great, waved all late penalties, and made everything due the last day of class- extra credit, homework, exams, and projects. She is very knowledgeable and fair to everyone. There are also plenty of extra credit opportunities if you'd like it.
took her 3 week summer class and would take it again in a heartbeat. It's mostly reading and answering questions and looks like a lot of work, but it's easy and only a little time-consuming. She is an easy grader & comments on every assignment. She is very passionate about her job & made the class very enjoyable for someone that doent like history
Professor Powers is a very understanding person. It is clear that she loves her job and she definitely wants all her students to pass her class. She honestly does not expect a lot from her students and she frequently makes things easier for you. She is a very nice lady that consistently showed how much she cared about her students.
I took Western Civilizations since 1648 with Dr. Amy Powers and thoroughly enjoyed this class. Since it was online, there were many reading and Q&A assignments, but they were easy. The hardest assignment was the research paper that she assigned in week 5 but wasn't due until the end of the semester. I highly recommend taking classes with her!
Consistent homework throughout, only one big project. You need the textbook for pretty much everything.
She taught well and gave a good amount of work that was easy to do and not complicated at all. Definitely one of the easiest classes to work on this semester. Great professor all around.
I absolutely loved Professor Powers! Every week there was a discussion, activity w/ questions, and reading questions (normally 5 questions for each). There are 3 exams in the form of a paper. Her lectures were were engaging and informative. The homework is meaningful, with good feedback on everything. Super nice person! I would highly recommend!
I definitely recommend her, she was really kind and understanding. Lectures were great and she explained everything well.
Dr. Powers was awesome! Class could get kind of boring sometimes, but otherwise, it was a great experience. The course was super easy, with only a few small papers. She is also a super easy grader and gives excellent feedback. She is very knowledgeable about history, and I definitely recommend taking her class!
Professor Powers is the BEST teacher at WCC. Her course isn't difficult, she has clear grading criteria and offers amazing feedback. Overall she's a super caring and respectable teacher and you can tell she loves her job and all her students.
She was the nicest and most helpful teacher ever. Take her if you get the chance, as long as you do the work you will succeed. She is also lenient on due dates, but get it in by the end of the semester and you're good.
I usually do not do good in history but this class is easy as long as you do the work. The teacher is very helpful and work-wise, as long as it is turned in she will grade it.
Probably an easy A class but you still learn the content which is a perk. As long as you turn stuff in and make sure it's decent work, you'll be fine. Professor Powers provides lots of resources and I loved the way she taught us history but the skills to learn about it instead of just giving us assignments. Would take again.
She was awesome! Her online course was very organized and simple to understand. I always knew when something was due and she had the whole course planned out including the textbook readings. She was very flexible (I only needed to complete 2/3 of her assignments to receive full credit) and made it very clear what she was looking for.
Mrs. Powers is one of the best college teachers I've had so far. Super nice and respectful, and attempts to engage the class and make history worth learning. very lenient and chill on mostly all assignment's. (Just give her a heads up). I would certainly take this class again.
It was a lot of work, but having a warm, respectful, and intelligent professor like Amy made it all worthwhile. Her lectures were reasonably sized, easy to understand, and her organization and resources are wonderfully helpful! She's definitely passionate about what she teaches, and that enthusiasm is contagious. Great professor!
Professor Powers is by far the kindest and sweetest history teacher I've ever had. She's super flexible with all of the work she assigns (which really isn't that much) and is clearly very passionate about what she's teaching. Her lectures can be a bit long-winded, but I would take this class again even if each lecture was twice as long.
Dr. Powers was wonderful! She actually is very passionate about what she teaches and wants students to succeed. She doesn't assign a lot of homework, just reading questions, which are very simple to do (only 5 questions per week!). She does assign one project, which can take up time but it is very simple. If you take her, expect to get an A!
Sweetest and easiest professor I've had! Took her for a summer course to transfer to my 4 year university and she was a breeze. There were reading questions, and a few papers. You only had to complete 2 of 3 papers in order to receive full credit. The paper writes itself if you complete the reading questions. Definitely would recommend Amy!
Such an amazing, understanding teacher and so very gracious. I would absolutely take another class with her!
I've had Amy for two classes, and she is the best! She never assigns too much work. Reading questions due every Sunday (you only have to do 9 out of 12), Exams (only have to do 2 of the 3), and in-class activities, which are simple! Her lectures are also very informative. Take a class with her, you won't regret it!
Dr. Amy Powers is hands down one of the best professors at WCC. Her class focuses more on learning than on doing assessments and just getting a grade. It is obvious that she knows her stuff when it comes to history. Her class consisted of three exam essays (you only need to take two), 12 reading assignments (you only need to do 9), and one project.
ive taken 3 classes with her. one my first semester, and then two my last semester, i regretted it.
Professor Powers is an engaging and passionate teacher. The workload is reasonable, with a few short papers and reading questions. Using Unstuck AI and the free textbook can really help in this class. She's super flexible and generous with grading - an easy A if you put in the effort.
Dr. Amy Powers is undoubtedly the best teacher I've ever had. She is kind, cares about her students, and is obviously extremely well educated on history. I am never bored during her lectures. She's very organized and easy on grading. I'm taking her FLEX class and she makes sure everyone is engaged, even those on Zoom or online. This is so worth it!
She is such a sweet professor! No assignment was too hard, but there was a lot of just busy work. There's a final project that was easy. She really does care and is passionate about what she's teaching. She took time to actually read each assignment and leave genuine feedback on everything. You can just tell she's a genuine person!
Amy was a great professor, kind person and gave good feedback. Only class I've ever gotten 99% in
HIS102 - World History Since 1500 (Online) Dr. Powers did a good job organizing this course. Material is easily accessible through Canvas. Warning: I took this class over the summer and I thought it was a lot of writing. Not necessarily hard, just busy! There are 2/3 essays to complete and a simple project. Take this class if you need the credit.
