Since mostly freshman take this class I'll tell you now DON'T COPY WHAT IS ON THE BOARD WORD FOR WORD. her powerpoint presentations go fast so just take notes, don't copy. She's a very good speaker and has reasonable expectations as far as what we should know. Downside: there is a LOT of extra reading she posts on beachboard so be diligent on that
Prof. Rasmussen is awesome. She sometimes gets nervous and laughs at the things we ask her. No reading for this class, just be prepared for lecture. SHE IS WAY INTO POLI SCI. Plus, she's kinda cute too.
The class is very boring, looking around and most people are sleeping. She uses power point (very small font, a lot of info to write down.) She expects you to read, not only the text book but other text that she puts online through beach board. She is nice, but not fun. I've lost all interest in political science.
She tries really hard but is not very good at getting her concepts across. Most of the class notes are pretty useless, though the readings can be pretty interesting. Her paper topics are pretty convoluted so ask her for help in writing your papers and you should be fine; though she is a really hard grader. Use Omi and Winant in everything!
She makes it WAY too hard for a 100-level course. She's not very nice and tries to regulate every little thing about her class, which is impossible. I DO NOT recommend her...
Easy Class!! I don't know what everyone else is talking about. She CURVES!! Sheesh. typical freshman class, take it!! She's hot too!!
2 papers 25% of grade, Midterm25%,final 25%, 1 test 25%...can be hard..if u attend lecture, and i mean everyday, should receive at least a B. I got an A studied her test study guide got a's on all tests. Dr. rasmussen is really great prof. and really sweet
Her class is really challenging. She covers so much information and not in a way that is of interest to her students!! Most students in my class just dont attend anymore because they became too bored. But, even though attendance ins't mandatory, you still need to go to class because the tests cover ALL the information.
one of the worst teachers i have every hard. she is not approachable or friendly to students. she will not stand talking and will either kick students out or give out of class assignments. tests are hard, papers topics are given last minute, and grading is hard. avoid her if possible. even people who are interested in politics can't stand her class
The lectures for this class are boring, but bareable. No one really attends class. Her tests are extremely hard. Most of the time the class average on the test is a low "C".I wasn't even interested in the class and it's my major!Try and find a different teacher if you can!
Ok...well if you like to sit and listen to dull, monotone lectures this class is for you. I was looking forward to taking this class but Professor Rasmussen kinda' ruined it for me. She has a hint of arrogance about her that is amplified by her condescending tone. Of course this is just my opinion, but almost every other student that I talked to
POLI SCI 100: She does give assign lot of workload, but if you keep up with the readings you should be fine. After the 1st exam and paper you can figure out how the grading and the exams are formatted. Go see in person if your struggling. I manage to pull a B after getting several C's. She also offers Fieldtrip extra credits.
HORRIBLE! Made me change my major!
this professor has no business teaching 100 level classes. her knowledge comes off as condescending, and she thinks she's the cats pj's cause she went to yale! she over teaches, and grades too stringently. if you are looking to broaden your interest in politics, dont take her class, she made me hate it!
horrible! loves to hear herself talk. EXTREMELY LAZY. overteaches and thinks shes the best. tells us if we arent happy with our grade on a paper n we want it to be re-reviewed that "most of the time i will lower the grade" ARE YOU KIDDING. she does this so kids wont make her do extra work. acts like she wants us to do great but in reality doesnt
needs to make it more interesting. i like her powerpoints, lectures are just too boring without them. i like the documentary she chooses they are interesting to watch
I can't believe people are seriously complaining about this prof so much. I admit that if you don't keep up with the reading, show up to class, and use your brain once in a while this can be a rather difficult class. This is college folks, not Burger King! You want it your way, save some money and stay home. You want to learn you have to work!
She says "Uhm" Every other word and every once and a while her voice will go from monotone to rasping out. Its extremely hard to listen to her pointless lectures because you have to count how many times she say "uhm." I wouldn't reccommend this professor.
Before taking this class, I was scare because of all the negative comments about this professor. But after taking her class, I have to admit, she wasn't that bad. She was approachable, her TAs were great. She tries to make class interesting and did an ok job with that. She is not very hard, you can always email or go to see her if u need help.
Very smart but not a great lecturer. She's probably better suited to teaching upper division. Almost scared me away from the major, but the class isn't terribly difficult. Do the reading and pop a caffeine pill before each class and you'll do fine.
I have Rasmussen for Summer session, and the class is not the easiest nor the most interesting class I've had, but if you read the required readings and take notes exams will be a breeze. She is quite nice. Participation is a must, but just an average Political Science class. I don't understand the harsh critiques because she is a sweetheart.
I am not really sure what others are complaining about - i am taking her now, and i'm happy i wasn't scared away by others' comments. i'm getting quite a bit out of her class. it's not easy, but i'm learning a lot.
Too much reading. Not a great communicator in my opinion.
she is so awesome. i loved her class and really makes you rethink socially constructed paradigms.
I would say it is a pretty easy class, but...her lectures are the most boring ever. She always says umm and takes deep breaths every few minutes as if shes tired of talking, very annoying. She thinks shes the best thing in the world.I would recommend to go to class and take good notes because her tests are based more on her power points than nething
Easy if you can stay awake. It's common sense exams with some questions that you have to go to class to know. The journal topics are easy. She says Um and Right? constantly which was incredibly annoying during lectures. My biggest complaint is she doesn't allow students to discuss topics at will, she rather focus the topics on her lectures.
All in all for me i found the class to be extremely easy. If you can even bear the lectures. She gives horribly boring lectures that incite all most no participation or interest. Plus as others have mentioned she takes weird quick breathes like she's growing tired of bestowing her knowledge on us. she says umm and right all the time. so annoying!
This prof isn't as hard as some of these comments make her out to be. Only three tests, no studying you can pull out an 80. Journals are the only other assignment and they are due in bulk twice during the semester. Lectures aren't terribly interesting, but very easy workload.
I'm not sure why there's so much hate for this professor? There are only three tests, multiple choice and an essay for each, and the answers are all in the lectures and reading so take notes. Even then, it was fairly interesting and the journals were easy, as long as you kept up with them.
so awesome
Such an interesting and thought provoking class. Semi-easy if you understand the material well. If you do not want to participate in class, do NOT take this class because 20% of your grade is on class attendance and participation. But an overall interesting class that will definitely expand your knowledge and get you thinking.
teahces well. powerpoints were very clear. assigned reading before every class but you only need to know the material for the tests. a lot of class discussions. a few videos which kep things interesting. journals are worth 25% of your grade and theyre very easy. only bad part is that 3 test make up the other 75%
Easiest class I've ever taken. Seriously.
Awesome class, great prof. I loved her.
super awesome. the class is actually interesting and i learned alot
I love this class and this prof.
great class and awesome prof!
Interesting prof. knows what she's talking about. has a nervous voice and says "umm" a lot. powerpoints are very helpful so its good to attend class. LOTS of extra credit ops so take advantage. 3 exams, journals turned in twice/semester. easy grade. just come to class, study, skim book. makes POSC easy to understand. recommend it!
Nice professor. Knows what shes talking about. Lectures are long and sometimes boring. I learned a lot in her class, exams are easy if you go to class and take notes. She uses powerpoints. 3 exams and weekly journals that can put up ur grade. Overall easy class. would recommend.
this class is an utter BORE. all of the concepts you should already know from high school. however, i still recommend her because she is an easy teacher, you just have to learn to stay awake. there are 3 tests and about 10 journal entries. no paper. so i really recommend her. but seriously, try to stay awake in this class.
she is a horrible professor! i dont know who decided to allow her to teach! her class is super boring!!! and you have to do a million readings. if you go to EVERY class and do EVERY reading it wont be TOO hard but you will want to self destruct sitting in her class. p.s. she sounds like she is about to cry when she talks and it is super annoying!
This class was lecture hall and SUPER BORING if u bring ur laptop its not so bad but make sure you follow writing down her powerpoints, you dont have to go to class but advised to write down her powerpoints, she doesnt put them up, the tests are sort of hard unless you really study hard, there is 10 easy 1 page journal entries very easy.
Wow, what can I say about this professor. She is horrible! She does not put headings on her power points and some of her notes do not connect to her book. She also stutters while she is lecturing and says "UM" about 500 times a class. I could not focus with her doing that so I just gave up on that class.
Really? This class was not that hard. It was basically high school level. The readings were maybe one per class period, which is not that much and we had weekly journals plus 3 tests. She gives a chance for discussion in class and that was enjoyable. Those who gave a bad rating probably didn't do so well.
Really nice teacher. Not biased to one political side which is great in a Poly-sci class. Don't bother with the book at all! Just come to class and copy down the powerpoint notes and you'll be fine. 3 short papers, 3 easy scantron tests. Yes, it's boring, but it's POSC 100, what do you expect?
cool teacher. make sur eyou take notes. can definitely past just taking notes. tests are kind of hard just study the chapters alittle
basically a high school class. book is completely unnecessary. good, smart professor but the content is jsut REALLY BORING
Taking Poli Sci with Rasmussen is what made me decide to major in Poli Sci. She covered the material really well. Clear power points. Offered both sides on issues - presented both sides adequately & equally - let us decide which side of the issue we were on. She doesn't just lecture on the mechanical simplicity of US gov, she goes deeper & explains
For my class, she really made an effort to try and expand into more interesting stuff: multimedia and such. We spent an entire class just talking about our likes and dislikes of the class. Dislikes: can't make up videos seen in class (they're on her tests), doesn't put up powerpoints on web.
Impatient when it comes to class behavior, she'll wait for everyone to settle down, even if students aren't really being that noisy. She wants you to do well; she's very passionate about her subject and likes to ask for class opinions. Pay attention, take notes, and review them to do well on the exams/final. I didn't even open my textbook.
Cool teacher, I would definitely recommend taking Rasmussen for POSC 100. Class consists of 3 exams, and two journal packet turn-ins. As long as you take notes, and study prior to the exams, you'll be more than fine
This is the easiest class ever. my downfall? she is so boring. i slept thru most of her classes. its an easy A becuase her lectures r straight out of the book and her tests r ridiculously easy. take a laptop w/ u to class and ull be fine. oh but turn everything in tho. i got all As but misses a journal assignment and got a C in the end.
Professor Rasmussen has a perky optimistic approach when it comes to teaching political science. Her tests are fairly straight forward. 25 multiple choice with an essay. Got A's on both without too much studying. Read the chapters she assigns and take basic notes in class. Would recommend.
She's a really nice teacher. Class consists of 3 exams and 2 packets of journals (5 each).Attendance is not mandatory, but the notes do help when studying for tests!Class is boring but if you go to the review sessions you'll do great on the test. The aides really help!
Her class was not dificult, I read the chapters on my own and passed the exams easily. The only thing was that it was difficult to pay attention because all we did was take notes word for word from a power point. It was boring, but she's nice. The kids in the class texting/online and talking annoyed me too.
Her ability to keep the attention of the class is poor. It is VERY hard to take notes when she lectures because the slides on her powerpoint have little to no description on them, only headings. She involves the class, but the questions she asks are too obvious to answer. I know of people who do well in the class, but I am not compatible with her:(
Drowsy lecture hall class! The tests... ugh if you can find a way to study for them theyre ok but 25 questions... 3 points per question wrong! if you miss 3 its like you get a b + an essay portion! and if you don't know your polisci .. ugh. she has study sessions and like one e.c. opp. SIT IN FRONT if you dont want to get drowsy eyes!!
Not the easiest class in the world, but she's pretty good. she knows her stuff. lecture slides told you the goods. attend lecture with a buddy, it's hard to stay awake some times. tries to apply subjects to real life (pretty successful). 3 tests-25 mc's, 1 essay. study your notes, i hardly read until before the tests, doing fairly well.
She is so easy! her lectures may be a bit boring but she goes over everything and there is no need for the text. Also, she is pretty hot so that helps to pay attention. and as for her T.A, she is hot as well. I would recommend this class.
Professor Rasmussen does an EXCELLENT job at presenting the information clearly. Yes, her class can get a bit boring at times, but you will gain so much info if you pay attention. The class isn't difficult. Anyone can get an A if they just study. 10 one pg journals (EASY) are the only hw besides some reading. ANYONE WHO SAYS ITS HARD DOESNT STUDY!
this is my worst subject but if you just pay attention and study youll be fine. i got a B. very nice. when you raise your hand to answer a question, even if you are wrong she will try to twist your words to make them right so you dont look like an idiot. i really liked that.
She is an ok professor. can be mean. Study Sessions with ta's are halpful. her lectures are boring and not so helpful. Journals are really easy. Exams are pretty easy if u study.
Lectures: boring. Take notes and copy charts from slides. She's kind of mean and will call people out and force them to talk. I didn't read the book and was terrible at studying but I pulled off the class with a C. Book not important to buy. Take notes. Go to test reviews. Tests were MC and 1essay. You go over the essay question in study sessions.
She is one of my favorite teachers, and I have only taken her class once. She is a GREAT teacher and legitimately knows her material so she can modify her lectures and intelligently answer questions. She does assign quite a bit of text, but she outlines it in class...buy the book and use it for test review (know your authors)
Awesome professor! Very knowledgeful and class material Is super interesting. She is beautiful too!
SO boring. Horrible class.
Really helpful n easy
Professor Rasmussen taught her information very clearly, even though it was often boring. If you go to all of her classes and take good notes, you should easily get an 'A'. Her goal was always to make the information understandable and she was really helpful.
She's a nice lady. As an int'l student, she's helpful. her notes r clear. Need to go to every class becoz she won't give u her note or post online. Also, she'll give hw journal in class. So, if u miss the class, rmb to ask ur fd for notes & promp! The topic is kind of boring, but she tries her best to make it interesting. Overall, she's gd prof!
She's boring. And you can't even whisper in class. She's anal about everything.
She is a very intelligent lady! She knows her stuff but tends to show off about the fact that she graduated from Yale. She can be so boring at times because she is very repetitive on things that are only common sense. overall, great teacher though. Her powerpoints are fun to look at!
I literally hated the fact that I had to take POSC100 but in the end thanks to her, i LOVE political science! she knows her stuff & tends to show off shes a grad from Yale. powerpoint=VERY useful. if you take good notes, dont buy the book. 2midterms+final. 2 journal packets-easy. exams are easy if you study.
I wasn't really interested in PolySci from the beginning but she definitely knows what she is talking about. There's no study guides, study what you think is important. 3 exams and 2 sets of journals. Do all the work and try your best on the exams.
i loved this teacher. going into the class i thought i wouldn't enjoy it one bit and that it was going to be boring. but she made the class easy to understand and fun. her tests consist of MC & a short essay, which are both easy as long as you read the book and study her notes. i totally recommend her, i have no complaints
Dr. Rasmussen is the best POSC professor! If you want to learn about the subject, but need it to be taught in an interesting way she is your match! Super helpful if visit office hours. There are opportunities for extra credit (too many). If you take good notes, don't buy the book. UPDATE: She does not mention Yale anymore, at all.
Powerpoint notes. Must attend, doesn't post them up. Offers EC. Test are hard, you must study! Don't really need book, I never read it. Really nice and helpful. You have 1page journals that are easy if you don't leave till last min. I hate gov but she made it fun. Take her if you want to learn!
Easy to get an A or B on tests if u attend class and go over class notes before exams. GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS FOR EXAMS, extremely helpful 4 the essay question. 3 exams (MC & one essay question), final not cumulative, 2 sets of easy journals, read book for help with writing journals, a lot of extra credit essays you can write. Got an A in the class!
Easy.
Easy class, though sometimes it makes you feel like you want to sleep in lecture. You really have to study for exams. Give it your all on the journal sets; there's no reason why you shouldn't get an A or a B on them since you have the book and the notes as a reference.
This class was boring however she does make it a little interesting. 2 exams 1 final, and 2 journal sets. Test are mostly based off her lecture.
GO to class, take the notes of the powerpoint (especially anything she says off the book since she also tests on that). Read the pages required and you'll pass. I ended up getting an A just by skimming through the textbook. Pretty laid back class.
Face it: government is confusing and complicated. However, she breaks down concepts really well and teaches them in a way that makes it easier to understand. Just take good notes on her lectures and ask questions - she's very clear in answers/discussions. Class is three exams (no cumulative final) and two journal assignments. I enjoyed her!!
She does a fantastic job explaining the material, grades fairly and offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. She manages to stand politically objective. Take her if you need this class
i liked her. she was really clear and helpful in her lectures. she explained things in a way that helped us understand. 3 exams and two sets of 5 politics journals so it was a pretty easy class. the tests had 25 questions each and then an essay at the end and she posts the essay topic the day before the test. study sessions with the TA were helpful
Loved her! very nice and she actually made me understand our government and how it works! buy the text book it helps! 3 test.. multiple choice with an essay and the essays are graded really easy if you just have the information she wants
Great teacher. She explains the material really well and there's only 3 exams and two sets of journals..the journals are double spaced one page each so it's really easy. Go through the book and take notes during lecture because it comes out in the test too. She's really nice and open to any questions, very knowledgeable and smart!
Rasmussen was able to teach the material really well. She also tried to make the class relatable to her students which I really appreciate. She is a solid professor and I'm glad that I took this class with her. The tests were fair and the journals were easy. Easy A
I would have to agree that she is very clear and concise when discussing the course material, however, the class was incredibly boring and not many payed attention. She allows students to use their laptops to take notes, but almost everybody was sidetracked at any given moment with their computer. Not a hard class overall.
This class was fairly easy, but quite boring. There are 2 exams and 1 final (not cumulative), also 10 journals (my class only got 7). The journals are really easy and the tests consist of 25 m/c and an essay. Take good notes, pay attention, and you should be fine.
take her, really great. can get a bit boring at times but she is really easy. Her tests are based right of her lectures and I never used the textbook. Her essay questions on the exams are easy since she tells you what is would be about beforehand and grades is easy. She also does journals, but they are easy one page response. definitely recommend
Three to six one-page essay + three exams. The exams are not cumulative. Just take her class, work hard, and you will get straight A. Great professor
I didn't find her lectures boring but I do enjoy talking politics more than others. She's very clear with her expectations and her class is VERY easy. She's also exceptionally helpful during her office hours. I did feel bad for her since she wants to get the class involved in discussion but people just post on FB. She's also really cute. Lots of EC
I am not a fan of politics and find it incredibly boring, so her lectures dragged on for me. However, the material she covered was extremely helpful and similar to the tests. Her assigned papers are straightforward and she is very good at answering any questions. She's very nice and cares about the subject, she made it as interesting as possible.
She was acting like we are in high school. She doesn't share her notes, so you have to go to class. She also asks in tests every sentence she says in class. She gives many assignments, policy projects, midterms, beachboard quizzes, and a final. Pretty boring lectures. Do not take her class if you're not interested in POSC like me.
Literally all the tests were taken directly from her lectures so always go to class or have a friend take notes for you. Her lectures seem really long but her ppts are organized and get to the point. Don't bother getting the book...I barely skimmed the sections of each and only help to clarify
Lectures were pretty boring overall. Doesn't provide study guide, so you have to pay attention, take notes and read. Assignments not that hard if you do them ahead of time.
Amy has her P.H.D. in PolySci and she sure shows it. She treats a level 100 class like a 300 level class. Her lectures are long, boring, and all over the place. You'll never know if she is just talking to talk or if she is giving lecture material on the test. Avoid her if you don't want a know-it-all, tough grader. She's a lecturer, not a teacher.
She is a great and easy professor! Many complain so much! I don't see how it's so difficult! Her tests are right out of her lectures! I never read any of the readings (I only read for quizzes) and got 85% on each test! For the essays, I advice you to get feedback from the teacher assistants before turning them in! They helped me a lot !Great class!
I was afraid to take this class but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. It turned out to be easy. I highly recommended to take this class with this professor. Attend lecture and pay attention all her tests are based on lecture.
I'm not interested in POSC, but she's not hard. She has 3 tests and, in one unit, have multiple quizzes. She tells you what part of the book you need to read from. It's possible to just share a book with someone instead of buying it. For policy assignments (we had 3), let the student aides look at it first. Overall, Easy B.
She's the sweetest lady ever! I was really worried about this class but it turned out to be an easy A. Show up to class, as her test questions come primarily from lecture. It's pretty homework heavy with the readings and 3 short essays, but overall I was very happy with her class.
Best professor at CSULB! She makes the lectures so that they are easy to understand. Her test questions are all from lecture. Really all you need to do well on the tests are show up to class and take good notes. She is really sweet, responds well to questions (she emails back super fast!), and really wants to help. TAKE HER. She gives extra credit!
First time teaching the seminar course but did a great job. Research paper portion is a bit overwhelming so plan accordingly
Very easy class! Just show up and you don't even have to do the reading. She clearly cares about the subject so it makes the class interesting. She gives 3 policy papers (only 2-3 pages long), 5 reading quizzes, and three exams (straight from the lecture). I would highly recommend taking her!
3 exams, 5 beachboard quizzes, 3 short (2-3 pages) paper, gives extra credit and has review sessions if you need help. You need 450/500 to get an A in the class which is pretty easy. Her tests and quizzes are straightforward; just read your notes honestly. If you don't like powerpoint lectures, then this is not for you.
Her lectures aren't really clear, using a lot of her metaphors and acronyms. Basically treats it like we'll understand what she's saying but we don't.
If you ever take this class, you know it's going to be boring because it POSC. This class will make you wanna leave after she says the first word. She does not post her slides online and expects you to keep up on the reading. The environment in the classroom makes you feel like its high school all over again. A lot of people also leave early too.
Very organized and straightforward on tests. As long as you memorize the power points, you'll get an A. She also gives A LOT of extra credit. If you're having trouble on the papers, just email her! She wants feedback from her students and willing to be helpful. My favorite professor yet!
Easy. 3 essays, graded easily. 3 exams, all very reasonable. Book only needed to study for online quizzes and to reference in essays. Majority of material is through lecture. Lot of extra credit. If you remember high school government and US history then this is easy as can be. If not, it is still easy if you take good notes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class, there are only 3 tests (40 questions each) and 3 papers (2-3 pages each) the entire semester, but a lot of reading assigned through the textbook. I learned more about history in this class than I did in high school.
She's a really good professor she makes you want to participate and get involved. 3 exams , 3 papers ,5 quizzes, offers a lot of extra credit so take the opportunity and do it !!!! i regret not doing all of the extra credit, read and you'll pass study her notes their exactly what on the exam.
Probably my favorite class I go to. I have to study quite a bit for tests but I really like the teacher and she loves answering questions. Students can tell she cares. All you have to do is study for the tests and do a few extra credit assignments and you have an A.
She is a solid professor. Good sense of humor. She is easy to listen too and wont get bored during lectures. Read the book often (i just skimmed it). A few quizzes and a couple tests with a few papers. As long as you show up for her lectures and listen carefully you will do fine.
I took political science 100 with her. She takes the course very seriously and assigns a lot of work. The class has three papers three tests and around five quizzes. That being said she is a good teacher and lecturer and does try her hardest to make sure the students do well. However its way too much work for a GE. Take an easy teacher honestly.
The class wasn't too bad. Her lectures are not online so going to lecture is important. I found the essay prompts to be confusing but they are do-able. Exams are straightforward and are at the end of every unit( 3) . She really takes time to answer questions which was really helpful! Not a hard class.
Super easy professor. You can either show up and take notes on the lectures to pass the tests, or don't show up and just thoroughly read the textbook. There's 3 papers you have to write, but they're short and easy. She's also an easy grader. Gave our semester so much extra credit (like a free 60+ pts). Oh, and she brought her dog in once!
Amy is a really good professor that cares and wants all her students to succeed! She is always so happy to answer questions. She doesn't post her powerpoint so I'd recommend going to class. 5 online quizzes, 2 papers, and 3 exams. Overall a very easy class, you just need to put in the effort. She also offers lots of extra credit so take advantage!
She's very good at explaining what she means and goes really in depth with the content. I personally thought there were a lot of assignments for a 100 class
She is a nice professor and seems very approachable. I didn't buy the book but you don't really need it. On the exam however she does ask questions from the book, but only a few. Try and do all the extra credit you can do! I messed up by not doing that many and could of received a better grade. Tough grader on essays, but you can get an A in class
She doesnt post the notes so you kinda have to go to class to do good on the tests. But thats not enough, you also have to read the book. Essays are sometimes graded by the TAs but if you put in the thought and effort they are graded easy. Lecture was pretty boring but not a bad option if you need to take this class. Lots of extra credit offered.
super easy! although she doesn't joke around a lot in lecture, she is a compassionate professor and will work with you to get an A. A LOT of extra credit available. you do have to skim the chapters, though because there are sometimes questions on the tests that she didn't cover in lecture.
Like my GPA Meh.
She is very organized and clear on what she expects of you. LECTURES, LECTURES, LECTURES. She brings her dog in like once!!! Skim the book for like 5 online quizzes. I recommend going to the study groups before every exam just as a refresher. Notes are fairly easy to comprehend but she is big on interaction etc. She runs a tight ship! Good luck !
For a GE requirement course I though Professor Rasmussen was great. She tried to promote discussion in class, and she made a lot of connections to current events that related to the material, and the lectures were succint, and easy to understand. If you study for this course properly you will pass, and if you push yourself you will do well.
You need to attend class since lectures aren't posted. Just study off the notes that have numbers and steps to them, bc those are the ones that are on the test. Tests are really reasonable if you study. Don't miss the quizzes that she posts online, bc those are easy points. Book is needed more for the 2 essays than the test. Take this class!
Theres literally 5 online quizzes you take at home, only 3 tests, and 2 papers. The tests are very easy if you go to lectures and take good notes. The tests are both from the textbook and lectures but I kinda just skimmed the book and still did really well. For the papers I was always a little confused on what she wanted but still wasnt too hard!
She is a boring person and everyone in the class complained. You don't need to go to class but if you do, you'll get information on test questions that won't be from the book. You have to read the textbook to pass. She doesn't have enough time to go over everything in class. Tests and quizzes are easy but her papers were really confusing. Study!!!!
Super nice! Great professor if you're into the subject/pay attention. Textbook isn't necessary for tests if you take good notes and listen because they're mostly lecture based but you need the text for her quizzes. Doesn't post slides online so going to class is important to passing. Tests and hw assignments really straightforward and simple!
As much as I liked Dr. Rasmussen, her class wasn't an easy A. Her lectures were very intricate and well-made, and she definitely had a passion for teaching, but her tests were based on the lectures and book. She also has her TA's grade the papers and they were kind of tough, but they offered exam study sessions which were nice.
Lectures were boring only because its Poly Sci. She tried to make it easier. Exams exactly like lecture/book so you have to work for that A. 2 papers. 3 exams (including final). Overall an okay class
Professor Rasmussen is a great professor. Not into politics that much but she's really straightforward on grading and lectures. 2 papers, 3 exams, 5 online quizzes. She does offer extra credit as well so just do them because their worth it for your grade. As long as you study, you'll be fine.
she's a good teacher and is willing to help. her tests are a little difficult, you need to really understand the material to get a good grade. Papers are heavily graded as well. overall, she's a great person but a tough grader.
I believe that Dr. Rasmussen was okay at lectures, you have to be in class overtime you meet because you can miss a lot in a day. You have two paper, 2 exams on each unit, quizzes are taken online and a final as well.
i loved this class! attendance isnt mandatory but i still recommend always coming because the tests consist of both information from lectures and the book. just attention and do the readings and the class will be easy. her lectures are always interesting and shes super nice!
no cumulative final. 3 exams. 2 papers critically graded to go to office hours. pay attention to presentations and read the book. 30 points of extra credit available.
I have to say I did learn a thing or two in her class about POSC!! She is really sweet and passionate, but her tests are not easy and essays are iffy. Put effort in she will see it, also go to office hours! Was not an easy class, but she does offer extra credit, DO IT! It will help! Overall, you will learn if you go to class, super sweet professor!
Rasmussen was formerly an academic adviser for her major department so she cares about students. She is seriously smart and informed about government and politics and she is really helpful with all her students and kind during office hours. Her class isn't difficult if you put in a reasonable amount of time; it's concepts and not memorization.
The class is an easy A if you show up and listen or read the book. She gives numerous opportunities for extra credit and all of her assignments are clearly outlined. The class is just boring and she doesnt post the lecture slides.
Professor Rasmussen is the most adorable teacher! It is so clear that she is very passionate and knowledgable on the subject and really cares about her students. She answers pretty quickly to her emails and is willing to help her students if asked. Her test were not too bad but you do need the book because its a mix of lecture and readings.
Took her for Senior Seminar. No tests, 10 one-page reading responses, and one big final research paper that has smaller assignments as part of it. Has a focus on environmental policy, but your research paper can be any political issue. My best advice is do the assignments early, and try to have a theoretical framework for the final paper.
She'a very nice and understanding if you go to her and she is very accessible. The class is fairly simple it consists of 2 papers and 3 exams that can easily be passed if you look at the lecture notes and skim through the text book. In her lectures she likes for people to participate so we can hear from others rather than just hearing from her.
Does not post lectures so go to class! 3 Exams that are very straight forward and come straight from the readings and lectures. 2 papers that were quite easy. Very straightforward course, as long as you read and pay attention you should do quite well! She is very nice and caring as well!
Amy is an amazing professor. She cares a lot about her students, helps out whenever she can, uses class time well, and is very knowledgeable about political science. She's very sweet and really wants her students to learn. She helped me get more interested in political science. Lots of textbook reading and small assignments but you'll learn a lot.
POSC 100 made me so much more interested in politics. I was fortunate to take this class during the 2020 presidential election, and Dr. Cabrera Rasmussen's lectures really helped me understand the election process! There was a lot of reading assigned, and some discussion posts as well.
She is a very caring professor and understood the circumstance of each individual. We had 3-4 test throughout the semester and you can take them two times for a better score! The work load is manageable and the grading criteria is not harsh at all. I thought I did poorly or did not understand and assign. and still got full points. Pro. is amazing!
She's a good professor. Very organized with her class and assignments. The class has various quizzes that are easy to pass if you read your textbook and pay attention to lectures, which is also the same for the exams. The class requires heavy textbook reading, but you will learn a lot about yourself and the subject. Take her class!
Each week: a discussion and maybe 1-2 side assignments (not too hard). Assigns a lot of reading to help you write discussion posts and complete assignments. 3 Exams w/50 mc questions. Towards the end you write a short paper. Assignments due later can pile up on the last week so be careful. The assignments take long to be graded. Honestly an easy A.
This class in general was easy, this professor made it so much more tedious than it needed to be. She would assign "study guides" that wouldn't even help you study and just took time out of ACTUAL study time. She assigns homework until the very last week of finals so it piled up easily. She also didn't grade anything since Nov 15, its Dec 10...
Be ready for a ton of homework and readings. You definitely do not want to fall behind for this class as it could be pretty difficult to catch up. The exams can be difficult so I highly recommend to study way in advance. There are 3 exams and 1 project, no mid-term.
