Great professor. Lectures are straight to the point and short. Gives a decent amount of homework, but how else can you learn about computer programs besides working with them? Take in the spring or summer though, the material is not complex enough that it needs to be stretched out over an entire semester.
Good teacher, kind of soft spoken though
she's very nice. the class is not that difficult if you show up. keep up with the homework becuase it's hard to catch up. GO TO CLASS...this class will be a breeze as long as you go to it. for the test and final she allows you to use your books...so don't leave them at home. tests are not particularly hard, but bring your books.
Professor Rutledge was very straight forward in defining what was expected of you in the class. The lectures were easy to follow. Home work level was adequate. She was very helpful if you had a problem, and provided extra credit. Two weeks of class left, I expect an A overall.
Great teacher. She is very helpful as long as you ask her questions. She will help you in any way possible in her class. Pay attention to what she says because how else would you learn if you don't pay attention to her?
In the beginning she seems like a nice teacher, but she piles on a lot of homework and often time doesn't show up to open labs on time. She can be helpful if she likes you, but you really have to suck up to her. Quizzes and tests are rather difficult. The material in the quizzes are not covered properly in class, making them difficult to take.
Her class is very hard, lots of work, the HW are so long. the test are very very hard. dosent curve the grade at the end, but she provides with lots of EC. make sure to go to class every day.
I loved this class. Every day you went to class and submitted the In-Class assignments, you get extra credit. Fridays were open labs and not mandatory. She's very very helpful and can be used as a source if you need one for an application or if you need to find a job. :D
You basically just learn how to use Microsoft 2007 and access. The class consisted of alot of work but it wasn't hard, just time consuming. If you ever had a problem w/ anything she was always willing to help. Offers alot of extra cred which is a plus. Going to open lab on fridays is very helful b/c she helps you out on your hw if needed.
Nice. Answers questions, helpful, and even accepted a few late assignments.
This teacher is insane. She give you LOTS of homework that is not graded till almost the end of the course so u dont really know how u're doing in this class. Myitlab is still being testing so we were the rats she tested it on. So you dont get the right grade cause the system is FULL of bugs! This is 100 level course and she makes it 400
Rutledge is very nice and helpful. But don't be fooled this course is not a blow off. four homework assignments throughout the semester, which each take about 2-4 hours. however you learn a lot about all the microsoft office programs. a lot of work, but she is very helpful, so go to open labs on fridays, read the book, and u'll do fine.
Kinda a blow off class for anyone who has used a computer before, but professor was nice and posts assignments ahead of time so you can get them over with and onto classes that matter
Super nice teacher. Lots of work, but she is one of the better teachers at OU.
If you go to class and do the work, and go to the open labs, you should have no trouble getting a 3.0. Her hottness would make any guy go to class!
I liked her. She's really laid back. Take her once a week class if you can. She didn't make us do some of the projects and she NEVER held us the whole time. 2 hours max. Pretty easy. Homework assignments were time consuming but do-able. I got a 3.9 with a decent amount of effort.
The class content is easy but it can be very time consuming. You will need the Technology in Action book to pass because there's quizzes on the chapters. She does offer a lot of extra credit opporunities. Overall, she's helpful, nice and laid back but the course work is annoying. I took it MWF.
The MS Office is somewhat easy itself, but she doesn't explain the materials quite well. The due dates for projects and tests are way too close to each other, making the class often hectic.
Class was fairly easy but I knew computers pretty well prior. Go to class everyday because grades are based off in-class activities. At the end of the semester she gives tons of Xtra Credit. Don't buy the book, just get a myitlab subscription thru the internet. She was really cool and helpful, plus she's easy on the eyes ;)
her classes are almost a waste of time. but she does do in class group assignments daily that are graded. Exams are extremely hard, which shock you when you know how easy her reg class time is. Study hard for exams and you can 4 point this class easily
This teacher is awsome. Had her for MIS 100 and MIS 300 is easier. She made the class fun and it was my most enjoyable. 4 homework assignments and two exams. EASY compared to any other MIS 300 professors. Take it with her and you won't regret it!
BEST instructor at OU. VERY helpful and makes herself available ALWAYS, even after the course is done. This is a sign of a TRUE teacher.
Absolutely awesome! She wants you to do well. VERY approachable and VERY attractive... made attendance easy!
Very, very helpful prof, that wants to see all her students succeed. There is a lot of online homework that is EXTREMELY important to do. There are a handful of quizzes, two tests, and a group project due at the end of the semester. Not a blow off class but attend class and do homework and you will be fine.
easiest class so far. got a 3.9 with ease. gives a lot of assignments but there easy. its college stop being lazy. do the easy work and get an easy 3-4 point.
She is a pretty good teacher, though she can be moody sometimes. There is a lot of homework, but its b/c of the class not the teacher. If you go to class and do the homework then you will do good. She does in class activities that are graded, so go to class.
Great prof! I took her online course and will definitely take her 300 class. She is extremely nice, clear with what she wants, and was always available to help. It's a lot of work, but nothing too hard as long as you read and follow her guidelines. Still got a good grade while at the same time taking care of my 18 month old!
Great teacher, fun class but a lot of homework assignments. I would take her agin for MIS 300!!
Amy was a great professor! All exams were straight from textbook chapters. She helped out with the HW an was willing to answer any and all questions about it. Make sure you start HW early or else you will not have enough time to finish it. Great class, I'd recommend her to anyone!
Mrs. Rutledge is one of the best teachers at OU. She is very considerate and understanding. If you dont understand something or need more time on an assignment she is very understanidng about it. If you show her you care she'll help you out
Professor Rutledge is awesome. She is helpful, fun, and kind. She will help you with homework and make sure you understand the material. She makes jokes but always teaches what you need to know. Assignments are per the course but nothing overwhelming. Do the work, get an A. You have to buy the books for the course no way around it.
She is a great teacher. Keeps the class interesting. She is nice and energetic. She helps you if you need help. The attendance in not mandatory but if you don't show up you will miss out on the lesson and it will be harder to do the homework. Overall she is a great teacher and the class is easy if you show up.
Best Teacher I have had in College in the 3 Years I have been here. My major was Acc but I would have changed to Mis for her great teaching and awesome classroom experience
Mrs. Rutledge is a great person and professor! Do the practice exams a couple times and you will ace every exam. Show up to class and do your homework you will get an A. if you ever have an issue with your grade she will help you and make sure it's fixed. Lots of extra credit activities so go to them!! I would recommend her and take her again.
Quizzes are tough but not worth much, she knows what she's doing and is willing to help. There are many online assignments (about 3 per week).
Professor Rutledge tells you from day one what to expect. Quizzes every week but if you do the questions online and know the vocabulary from the chapter you will pass. Assignments are online and due at the end of the week. The class overall is pretty easy, and it's not a hard class to pass. Professor Rutledge is extremely helpful.
Most work was online (MyITLab) and is graded by right/wrong steps, but there is a group assignment and a report using what you learned in Word/Excel. While she isn't always timely with her email responses, does help you with problems you might have on the site and will work with you if need be. She has a bundle the book comes in.
She's a good teacher, but a very hard class if you are taking 3 other difficult classes. She is very good at what she does, but the homework load and the difficulty of material is unreal when you have a full schedule. Trust me, don't think this class is a blowoff because it's not. Pushing a solid 80% right now with 3 other difficult classes.
Mrs. Rutledge is one of the best professors I have had at OU! She really cares about her students and wants the best for everybody. I got a new job during the semester that had week long training right during our usual class period so I had mentioned this to her and she with out a question let me swap into an earlier course of hers. Take her!!
Doesn't teach you at all, you practically have to teavh yourself the entire course. The quizzes are really hard. When she lectures she has a presentation but skips through a majority of the slides, and that is what on the quiz.
Nice lady, helpful when needing adjustments for grade. Aside from that there's nothing to teach! It's an online program that harshly grades everything you do. Tough class don't listen to the other reviews.
Class meets three times a week MWF. Monday - go over quiz material for wednesday and then have an in class activity about word/excel/access Wednesday - take a quiz and then have another in class activity Friday - no class but you have two homework assignments due and you can go to class to work on them and ask questions Generally an easy class
Good professor. MIS 100 is a simple class - just lots of step by step problems, takes time. Exams were super simple, exactly the problems you do in the homework and practice exams... She takes a long time to reply to emails, some she didn't even reply to for me but no big deal. Overall she's a fine professor, simple class.
I loved Professor Rutledge! She is nice and has a blast in class. As long as you follow along in class and follow the steps on the homework, easy A. For this class, I highly recommend not buying a Mac for a laptop. A lot of the homework couldn't be done with my Mac so I had to use my friends. Recommend Rutledge!
This class involves an in-class activity almost every class. If you skip, you won't pass based off of those alone. There's three tests and hw every weekend. The material is in depth but not hard. There's a group project to work on all semester. She's very fair and grades each group member individually. Also no class most Fridays & didn't open book
Moslty online. She is a great professor. Very understanding. If you skip class, you will not pass. A heavy amount of online homework so be prepared
Prof. Rutledge is well-organized and an overall solid choice when taking an MIS course. However, there is little for her to actually "teach" in the online version of this class. I felt as if I had to teach myself everything. The homework is graded harshly! Be prepared for this!
The homework and tests aren't all that hard, but there is a lot of work. As long as you pay attention and do all the work you should be fine, but it wasn't as much of a blowoff as I anticipated. She's a good professor.
Since this class focuses on working and learning Microsoft Office skills it is very important to go to class. Rutledge has an in class assignment everyday and those points add up quickly. The content its self is easy and she explains it well and the projects are even fun. She is a very fair grader and is willing to help those who ask
Very helpful teacher, cares about your grade if you do!
Extremely lazy teacher. Assigns about 4 projects at once, along with online assingments both on Moodle AND the MYITLAB. Very confusing on many things and it gets annoying. I would recommend taking online as you do not have to do even half as much work
Professor Rutledge is a great professor, there is a lot of material covered but she makes sure to go over anything that anyone may not understand. Her class was really useful and I learned something new every day, and she really tried to help you if your grade wasn't great. As long as you listen and do the homework, you'll do fine.
GREATEST TEACHER YOU WILL EVER HAVE!
First of all she doesn't even grade any of the homework, a computer does and half the time it marks you wrong for things that you did right She only gives the points back if you point it out to her and she doesn't give the points back to the whole class you have to go see her during office hours which is very inconvenient. She's so out of touch.
The grading is very straighforward and you will get an A as long as you do the homework and practice assignments prior to the tests. There was a group project at the end of the semester but it was very easy. Myitlab is straightforward and there isn't a lot of homework. Would take again.
Great professor. If you have previous knowledge or a degree in word and excel you will do very well in this class. Homework is frequent though, tests are about once a month.
AMAZING professor. She is great. She is always there to help. She responds to emails on time and always lends a hand. She teaches very well and gives hints in class. She's great
Awesome professor, She had both a theoretical and practical style of teaching and her exams were very easy. Take her and you will get an A.
Amy is a great professor. She makes the expectations clear and easy to understand. As long as you attend class and do the online homework (Maybe 2 hours worth week if you take your time) its an easy A. Cheat sheet is allowed for the exams and they are open book. You would have to physically try to do badly in this class.
Easy course, easy material, easy exams(you get a cheat sheet for all exams). Shes very nice and I did learn neat things that I've used in projects for other classes. She does in-class assignments every day, so show up(its not graded, if you were there you get 100). You have all week to complete homeworks, due on sundays(about 2 hours each).Take her
I loved taking this class this semester. Amy is a super nice professor who wants you to do well. She always answered my emails and let me submit the final Moodle post late via email. The tests are identical to the homework. There are 3 tests and only the 2nd test screwed me over. But thats on me because I didn't study for that one.
I had her for MIS1000 online it was an easier course. This one appears easy with straightforward online homework through MyMISLab, but exams are wildcards. Study extra for those, review her study guide and you should be fine! She is super friendly and willing to answer questions. She's on campus too so meeting in person is easy.
She assigns way too many quizzes on moodle, which can be rough when you're already doing hw/stimulations on MyITLAB. The software used for this class can grade you harshly on hw assignments. There's two exams and you can use a cheat sheet for them. She's not really accessible outside of class.
Took her for 100- so easy. But 3000 has been more difficult. Lots of assignments that aren't super hard, but just too many. Had to go in for exams, which can be tricky because it is all based on concepts from the readings. However, it was nice having the rest of the assignments online, like quizzes. She is nice but just not what I was expecting
Bad Professor
Professor Rutledge is a great professor. There are a lot of assignments in mymislab but they are easy and can really boost your grade. The tests are more difficult but if you do the study plans you should be fine. She provides a question bank for the written questions on the test so just study those and you'll be fine. She takes a while to grade.
LOTS of homework across MyMISLab AND Moodle. Weekly quizzes on both. Gives an extensive, multi-week group project in an online class. Tests are 5x as hard as any of the quizzes. Do not recommend.
I hope your MIS1000 professor taught you Microsoft Access well because mine didn't and Amy Rutledge requires at least 3 extensive assignments through Access, one that didn't get turned in by over half the class and only THEN did she realize how hard it was. Homework and quizzes on both mymislab every week, very time consuming. 2 in person exams.
She is very clear in lectures and it's not boring because you work along with her on the lab computers. She does not take attendance but it still matters to show up because you get an in-class participation grade. When you do the work along with her in class, you turn it in for a grade. Other than that, hw and tests are easy. Easy A.
Loved Amy! She was always prepared and did an amazing job!
Avoid at all costs
Homework take home and online. Multiple in class exams. Group projects in an online class. Avoid.
Decent prof for MIS 1000 but do not take for MIS 3000
I loved being in Amys class! She clearly cares a lot about the subject and she is always willing to help students when they need it. Most of the in-class lectures just instruct you on how to do the same things youll do in online training, but its helpful to be in class anyways. There was one major group project, but it was broken into sections.
Professor Rutledge is clearly passionate about the subject but not about the students. The amount of work for this class is way greater than it needs to be. Avoid her.
She is a good professor but she lacks a lot. Her communication is horrendous, my group was going to present and took us off the agenda due to lack of communication. Unnecessary assignments and group forums. Assigned the class with another project two weeks before the class ended. Avoid her at all cost!!
Online quizzes, no tests. She was fair in grading. The group project was pretty easy. I liked that it was a real project that helped a non profit organization that gives blankets to kids in the hospital. The last individual project was to make a website. No programming needed. It took me a couple of hours.
take her!
Easy online class. No exams just weekly quizzes that were pretty easy after completing the other class exercises. We had a group project but it was very easy.
Homework is plentiful and challenging. Tests and Homework is graded online by program but multiple attempts are usually provided. Simulation trainings are what you should really focus in on and study.
Easy class. There was a good amount of homework but it was never difficult and you were allowed multiple attempts on it. She gave a few extra credit opportunities which was nice. Overall, if you understood what was going in the homework, the tests were a breeze.
This was my first class at Oakland, I emailed her frequently to make sure I was understanding everything and she was very responsive and helpful. She gave quite a few opportunities for extra credit. All the homework was online and you could do them until you get 100%. Exams were not hard as long as you did the homework.
Professor Rutledge is very nice. Not to many lectures, but you basically teach yourself how to use Excel and Access, but you get really used to it quickly because of all the training exercises you have. Very easy class and I would take it again.
It was strange taking this class online, but the material was fairly easy and the professor offers office hours to ask questions. She also had review sessions before exams.
Guys, one of the easiest classes to take. All homework assignments you basically have UNLIMITED chances to get the grade you want. I had a 100 percent all semester long. Lots of extra credit assignments, if you do bad in this class its because you don't turn in you assignments. Literally the easiest A I got, there is good amount of hmw but its easy
Very nice professor. Take this class in person forsure though . Class work is very easy but time consuming. set aside 4-5 hours a week for her class. very easy to get an A in this class. she is very nice and easy to understand.
She was decent. She had lots of homework and quizzes. You do most of the work through person then the final exam is through proctored u which sucked because someone goes into your computer however she has a clear grading style. She is nice but the workload is extensive and hard.
The homework is very straightforward and you are told clearly where and how you lost points and you can make multiple attempts. The tests are exactly like the lecture/HW so if you're paying attention there are no surprises and it's an easy A if you put in the effort. She is also very nice and answers all questions thoroughly.
Professor Rutledge is by far the best professor I have ever taken at OU. I took her for MIS 1000 and 3000 and ended up with A's in both. If you do the work and follow instructions you will get a 100. There is a lot of work that needs to be done but its very easy, time manage yourself well. I took it as an online class both semester. Take her!!!
Professor Rutledge is great! Definitely recommend. Responds to emails quickly and is very organized and caring.
Professor Rutledge makes class fun! Attendance was pretty much optional but there are some in-class assignments you could miss. Lowest two are dropped. Projects are easy and she is there to help if you run into problems. Online homework and quizzes are super easy if you read the online text. You need the book, there is no way around it. Take her.
Overall a very good professor. Lots of homework but the homework is useful for exams. 3 exams, all of them related to material taught in class and 1 page of notes were allowed. She responds to emails quickly and there are a few extra credit assignments provided. Cant skip class often because there is always an in class assignment. No final exam.
Easy class, but there is a lot of work every week. Anyone can get an A. Unlimited attempts on assignments and quizzes. 3 proctored exams. Lots and Lots of extra credit. Nice woman, but she does not respond to emails "quickly". Overall, I'd say take this class.
Amy is a very chill teacher . She's very accommodating and the class is super easy . Just make sure to come on time , do your assignments , and this class should be an easy A . I would def take her again
I would recommend Professor Rutledge over and over. She did a great job explaining material. Make sure you are on time for class, complete all assignments, pay attention, and this class should be easy. As long as you understand concepts, the tests look very similar to in and out of class work. Homework does not take as long as stated.
Professor Rutledge's class is a great option - the homework is useful for exams, and there are plenty of extra credit opportunities. I found Unstuck ai really helpful for studying alongside the course materials.
The group project in this class was probably the worst project I have ever done (NOT bc of my groupmates). It would probably make sense for MIS majors, but my group is made of diff business majors & we really struggled. I almost dropped the class, but my overall grade was high enough for me to afford the hit. Prof was not very helpful
Amy was not a bad professor. She's straight to the point and makes her rules clear in the beginning. doesn't go easy on late work. If it is late, the grade will automatically be marked down in pearson or the assignment will be closed. There is abt 5 assignments weekly to complete and 1 group project . Stay ahead of your work and you'll be fine
Professor Amy Rutledge is a great instructor who really cares about her students. She's kind, supportive, and wants everyone to succeed. I took her class online, which made it harder for me, but she was always helpful. Definitely recommend her.
Her MIS1000 class is very easy. There is a lot of homework, but she does identical problems in class, so you learn how to do everything during class with her. She is extremely helpful and responds very fast to emails. The exams are very similar to the grader projects, and she gives you a notecard for each exam.
