I disagree with what everyone is saying about this teacher. She is a horrible teacher and plays favortism to some students. I have not once felt like she truly wanted to help me when I asked her a question. I highly advise you not to take this teacher. I wish I took another class but it was too late

If you need 1 unit to graduate & take this class for that, then pick something else. The questions we were suppose to answer by 1st field trip were late. She is not clear as to what she wants from you.

She is horrible, she does not include everything in the notes on her lecture, she makes you read every chapter, assigns tons of homework and you get docked points if you do not put the right questions, the tests are long and annoying, she forgets to lecture topics and then says she does and accuses you of not paying attention DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS

It's hard to approach her when your unsure about something. She's not very nice. I agree with the previous comment, the learning material is not well organized. I would avoid this instructor if possible because she is not helpful.

Horrible teacher, study guides she makes are useless and very unclear. She puts her power point online but without any slides with pictures, which are very important slides, which makes studying and understanding a lot harder. very confusing teacher. I learned more by watching NatGeo

avoid at all cost. long intense useless study guides that does not help you study for exams at all. study guide waste of time. class is too intense for a GE/Beg. class. if you ask her for help she replies over and over again with every email "did you read your notes? book? powerpoint?" every email. no help at all.

Terrible, terrible, terrible... powerpoints are useless, all you do in the class is a butt load of labs.. her class is a drag... your not even allowed to use your phone in the class... all it is, is her dropping alot of work on you and not really teaching anything... seriously don't.. take.. this ... class...

Stinson is not clear on what she wanted in the notebook and the activities. Also she is a tough grader. The class seemed simple but it wasn't. Probably the only class I regret taking at IVC. At worst I should have taken it for passfail.

Worst professor ever. She is so unreasonable and expects way too much in her students. I was sort of interested in the subject but she made me lose my interest completely. If you need a lab science do yourself a favor and don't take her class, you will regret it!

Not only are her lectures no help, but Stinson makes you feel stupid when you ask her a question. She acts like we should already know the answer. This is why she is an atrocious professor who should not be teaching.

I've been a straight A student my entire life and have had some awful teachers, but Stinson tops them all. She is not nice and is unwilling to address your needs. Please don't make the same mistake that I did by taking her.

I just finished this class last semester and just thinking about it gives me shivers. Stinson is one horrific professor. She is no help and not nice. She is everything you don't want in a professor. I seriously feel bad for anybody that takes her.

One of the worst Professors I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Her class was boring, demanding, confusing, and overall just a bad experience. She is not a nice person, and is known to ridicule and belittle her students. Do not take this class, you will absolutely regret it

Got the flu the weekend before the first exam. She said I could only take it the next day at 8am or the day after that at 2:00pm. No feel better! Or sympathy at all. When I told her I was still extremely ill, and sent her my doctors notes, she got back to me 2 days later and said its too late anf that i should drop the class. Horrible and mean.

Do not be like me and take this class because it was a "last option." Either wait for another semester or take a different class. Expect this if you take her class. 1 hour lecture, 2 minute explanation of main topics. 1&1/2 lab you won't understand. Condescending attitude. Do not ask questions. Textbook and lab are greater teachers.

Stinson is literally the worst college professor I've ever had. You can't ask questions or she makes you feel bad about it, if you even peep a word in class she moves you across the class or yells at you. She should be teaching a high school class if anything. She doesn't realize how to teach people as they are adults. I would not recommend.

At the beginning of the semester there were more than 30 students, by the end there were only 15. Her lectures are unclear, she merely skims over topics quickly without giving full explanation- leaving her students lost and confused. The labs are difficult. Answers questions in a very passive aggressive manner... just don't.

Hard to follow along in lectures. Would gloss over some topics then ramble on about small things. Tests have topics that are hard to find in the book. She says the best way to pass her class is to read the book. The textbook is all over the place and doesn't make sense. She makes things sound simple but is very difficult. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!

Asking questions is almost offensive to her. The class average on her tests are literally an F (55%), and when pressed by students wondering why the scores are so low, she simply says that they should have watched her pre recorded lectures more throughly. Would not recommend, but if you do end up taking her make sure it is p/np.

Very difficult class, tests with super specific questions that are not in the book. Amy is very passive aggressive and not accommodating to students.

Amy was a very bad professor and i relied on myself to learn and i barely made it through her grading system that was very unclear and impossible to work around. Either she is too lazy to make a passable class or simply thinks that every single student isnt trying hard enough. Not a very good professor at least online.

Professor Stinson starts off the semester strong with interesting lectures and topics, however this quickly withers away. She is an extremely tough grader, the average score for our past 2 exams was a 66%. Be prepared to note down literally EVERYTHING she gives you, because she will pull answers from assignments you didn't even know existed.

Professor Stinson puts up a façade of being very kind and caring when she really isn't. You would expect her to be more accommodating during COVID and with the new transition to online classes. Her tests are also very long and difficult. Lab homeworks are full of errors and she is not clear with them which results in points lost.

She is very strict with homework, no extra credit, no late work, harsh grading. I dont recommend this professor to anyone.

DO NOT take this class. She is super picky about the grading. Homework is excessive plus your lab is due the same night after doing a 3 hour class. The exams are very long. No extra credit. No late work. This is intro to Earth Science and it feels like Geology honors. This online class is stupid hard and I do not recommend this class to anyone.

do not take trust. if u ask her for help, she tells u to refer back to the reading or is extremely vague. no ec, no makeup, no late work. has no consideration for any conflicts. most of class didn't do a lab bc it was difficult, her response "what's wrong with you guys" stinson's like a stingy hs teacher that ensures your life revolves round class

If I could go back in time and listen to the reviews b4 me I wouldve never taken this course thought to myself most people dont like profs that make you work but no I have never not enjoyed my time in a class. This will be my first This class stressed me out so much that I literally could not sleep some nights. rude, not helpful, so disconnected.

if I could give her 0 stars I would. This class was brutal and thats being nice. Labs are so intense and so critically graded, she takes a long time to give back your grades because she goes through ALL of your answers for accuracy. If I could advise anyone and to save them for this torture please rethink taking her.

Dear lord, I should've paid attention to the reviews on here. No matter what your issue is, this professor will NOT give any extensions, even if you give her a heads up. She will give a lab out at 11:30am and close it the same day at 11:59pm. Her classes are highly inaccessible for those who have outside responsibilities. Stay away from her please.

This might be the worst professor I've ever had. My negative opinion of this professor started the first few weeks of the semester. Every week we have a lab assigned on Monday and due on Wednesday. But at around week 3 or 4 she just all of sudden made every lab for the rest of the semester due at the end of the day. I'd write more but no more room.

She wants all the labs due on paper. She also refuses to allow to do it on your computer. If you miss a lab that's it she won't let you redo or even know what was the right answers so your screwed for the exam. She grades your labs and hw extensivly but does not provide answers. An old fashion teacher that won't even let you use a pen. Avoid her.

If you want to enjoy your school year, please don't take any of these classes. You'll be left confused and frustrated. Every day consist of an hour of lecture + 2 hour lab that you wont understand due to the lack of proper communication on the professors end.

I knew I should have listened to these reviews. I figured the units would be worth the stress but no. If you are reading this, you won't pass her class, like most don't. She is unwilling to make the slighest accomodations or explain your mistakes to you. The tests are impossible to pass and require memorizing entire maps and charts. DO NOT TAKE IT

If you want to do well in a class do not sign up with Stinson. She is easily the worst professor I've had and I wish I had listened to the reviews. Her tests are impossible (70+ multiple choice questions and 20+ lab questions) and she does not curve. She is very old school and is not open to any sort of grade negotiation. She grades really hard.

Hands down worst professor I've had, made me hate the subject I was excited for, & I like learning. Condescending, hates questions, passive aggressive, unsympathetic, & bullies students needing extra help. Her niceness is all a facade, like a mean elementary school teacher. Hard, old school grading, endless papers. Yelled at students and class 3x.

L professor. Crazy strict on students but not on her diet. Extremely annoying. Dropped if you miss 6 hrs of class. Useless feedback, consists of "no" and "?". Brushes off students questions, gets upset at questions sometimes. Posted notes are very vague so if you take the class, pay attention during lectures I guess. Avoid her if you can.

tbh only thing i looked forward to was the end of the semester. Just annoying overall but the class was easy. She's a tough grader.

This class was easily one of the worst I've taken. Offers absolutely no extensions whatsoever for even emergencies (I'm not even referring to tests, rather assignments and quizzes). Studied so much for this class just for it to drastically drop my GPA. DO NOT take!

Lectures doesn't cover everything necessary to do the assignments, so you need to do a lot of studying outside of class. She is a very tough grader, no curves on tests, and the tests are HUGE. She does give a study guide but it's basically useless. DO NOT TAKE!!!

Most unpleasant educational experience ive EVER had, do not take this professor ever if you can avoid her classes. She was very verbally disrespectful to many of us in class and refused to even reason with anything other than what she had already known. Terrible experience.

Avoid this class at absolutely all costs. She is a strict grader and has entirely too high of expectations for students in this course. Virtually impossible, everyone talked about how hard they were working and it was hardly making a difference. She doesnt care if your learning or not. Just take something else.

Out of all the GE classes for lab, DO NOT TAKE THIS ONE. Out of all teachers since Pre-school, this is by far the worst class I have ever experienced. the structure of grading and homework does not make any sense. I understand you have to try, but this is not calculus, this is EARTH SCIENCE. Her tests and what is expected are comical. wake up.

This was one of the worst classes I have ever taken at IVC. If you have to take this class, run and don't come back. There is a quiz every single class period, and lectures are heavy and boring. Exams are complicated, and she's a tough grader. I have never written a review, but I wanted to warn others. Please don't take this class, most will fail.

Honestly unsure why the school isn't looking into this prof, in my class there were many GREAT students struggling significantly. Clearly something needs to change in the way she teaches. Absolutely DO NOT recommend taking her class, no matter how good of a student you think you are.

Just so many better options. You could find a different teacher for the same course, and it would be WAY easier. The teacher is kind, but has an old style of grading. And these tests are just pure memorization of rocks and all the properties that come with it.
