Expect to do a lot of group work
This course has a lot of work. What suprised me is the way the instructor was able to combine the lessons, learning into fun games. I never had so much fun learning ever.
Amy is one of the most engaging instructors I have ever had at TRU. She makes a learning fun and interesting. I actually wanted to come to class because of her positive energy. She really goes out of her way to support students outside of the classroom. This has been an incredible learning experience!
Good experience and stories. Excellent examples.
Great class, very boring subject made fun by Amy's enthusiasm, teaching style and all the group work. Very easy pass as long as you attend the classes :)
Interesting topics.
Makes you really think...very practical and useful even if you are not an HR major. Best part of this course is that the prof makes it hand's on and real. KEEP IT REAL
HR is one of those mandatory courses at TRU. I took it with this prof mainly because of her rep. Everything they say about her is true! By far one of the most engaging and experienced instructors. I learned more from this class then I did from my own major (marketing). I am even thinking of switching majors because of this class. Lots of experience
This is TRU's best kept secret! OB was so much fun that I recommend it to everyone as an elective. You also learn alot about yourself, teams and the business world! Very good teacher. Exam was long but I was well prepared.
She is the best instructor in the world.
Ms Tucker is very good at explaining things and making sure you understand everything. She always tests us every class to see what we remember. Very good fun. She gives us lots of cookies, candies and chocolates. Very funny or tries to be funny and that is what is so funny. Hehehehehheheeheh
This course is all about student engagement and participation. I never had so much fun EVER taking a course. You will never know you are learning. Lots of fun -- play lots of games, act in scripts, role plan, drama, learn real life stuff, and get really involved in the course. Always tests us in such fun ways. But love the cheesy eraser prizes.
She is very out going and passionate about what she teaches
Awsome teacher. Very fair.
Loved her. The class was so much fun. It's not too hard and Amy gives you all the information you need to do well.
Excellent professor very hands on
Excellent course. You learn alot about yourself and other people. I really like the style of this class. Fun and hands on.
Fun course. I loved the different teaching approaches and methods. Easy pass as long as you attend all the classes!
Heavy course load, but makes learning fun.
Excellent instructor. Has a very practical approach and provides students an opportunity to learn theory and apply it a real life situation. Loves her job and loves students. I highly recommend.
i love amy as a teacher, shes supper funny, helpfull and understanding. assignments are supper fun i would def. recommend her as a teacher!
Exams are challenging...but gives a really good review. I found the course to be a lot of work. Gives feedback on how you can get a good mark. Team projects=team headaches. Good teacher.
Very practical approach and teaches like why you need to know this, how to work with the hr, laws etc thought it has a lot of useful info even if I am not a hr major
So tird in her lecture cause of the billions activites but still good teacher and veru helpful.
Easy as hell!!! Lots of team work. Show up. Do closed book exams. Open book is friggen hard. Shes dope.
Lots of work for a good grade. Expect to do lots of reading and discussions.
Amy is an amazing professor who truly cares about her students. Lots of group activities, but so worth it in the end. Exams were open book.
Easy class, easy homework, lots of interaction, most of the time felt like I was in elementary school. Course seems entirely pointless in pursuing a business career.
Course was interesting and very useful information for managing my own life. Lots of reading and exams were challenging. I did not find the course easy at all.
She's making changes in the world that she is good at making.
One of the most empowering instructors I have ever had in the Master of Education program. I really felt motivated during this entire class and has left me wanting more. I hope to see her teaching more Master's level courses. Excellent Professor!
Lots of reading and extra work to get a decent mark in this class. Teacher really helps you prepare for the exams. She will also give you lots of feedback on how to improve.
Classes are always interesting and you never know what to expect. She is organized and easy to follow. The Fantasy Project is the best project ever...
Amy is an amazing and compassionate person! She is very passionate about her students and her teachings that you cannot help but respect her. Easily the nicest and most approachable instructor at TRU. Empowers students, and tries to make class interesting!
Very strict in terms of exams and papers. No tolerance for cheaters and people who copy their papers. Really made an issue of it when a team tried to buy an exam online. Very fair in terms of marking. Solid teacher.
Easy pass if you attend all the classes and do the study guides. I highly recommend.
best teacher at TRU
shes a nice teacher but she expects a lot from her students, learning journal for every chapter= 14 full pages. 24+ posts on moodle, and its very helpful if you attend class as she takes a lot of test questions from things you learn there. lets you take study guide into exam but finding answers takes a lot of time.
Amy's class was a blast! It was quite a different approach to learning than I've ever had. The whole course is group projects, but none that are too difficult by any means.(she cherishes creativity) If you pay attention, and do what is asked, you will do phenomenal.
Amy is a wonderful teacher! She loves what she does and is so easy to learn from. It's a totally different learning experience as there is a lot of teamwork. The projects are very easy and the journal entries really aren't so bad as long as you stay on top of them. Her midterm and finals are very fair and I highly recommend her.
I don't even like HR, but Amy taught this course with such passion, that I might consider it as a minor. Very interesting field of study. Buy the book, exam is based on textbook and class lectures.
fasted marker I have ever seen. Really fair marker. Gives feedback on how to improve. Need to study for exams as they are really hard. She challenges students to do better all the time. Really believes in students and empowers people to do their best. One of the best classes I ever had at Tru.
The nicest teacher you will ever meet. You can always talk to her about anything. She really cares. If only there were more people like her in the world. Best teacher ever...
Excellent class. Really enjoyed the interactive environment.
Mid-term exam was quite challenging. Very interesting projects. Class has some interesting discussions.
One of the most inspiring people I have ever met in my whole life. She is an excellent teacher, mentor and coach. If you are able to take a class with Amy, do so. You will enjoy this life changing experience. The class was engaging, productive and thoughtful. Format was organized and projects were guided by grading rubrics. A must!
Excellent course!
Great
she is just awesome. she makes studies so interesting and easy that anyone can achieve good marks. I would say she is an excellent professor.
Class was really intensive and a lot of work.
Awesome lady but i'm not huge on all the group stuff
She was such an easy teacher, I went to class because it was entertaining and easy. I got an A- and i really didn't put any work in. The test all you have to do is study the terms she gives you and maybe read the chapter. extremely easy marker.
A very interesting style of teaching. She is able to connect with students on an individual level. She has lots of experience in career management and can help you achieve your goals. Really helpful and caring. The course content is ok, but she explains it in a way that applies to you and organizations. Would take more courses with her again.
Amy is Awesome!!! One of the best profs at TRU!
Great class. DO NOT miss class or leave early, she hates it and your mark will suffer. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of time on homework for this class. Very nice lady, laid back and lovely to look at.
I love Amy Tucker as a professor she is so focused on making sure everyone is interested and learning things in her class. Her exams and assignments are all pretty straight forward, I mean you have to put the effort in but it's all paid off. I would take all my business courses with her!!
Great prof, very helpful. If you can take a class with her I recommend it.
She is best.
My favourite business prof! Knows her stuff and knows how to teach it in an interesting and interactive way. She welcomes class participation and doesn't shoot down opinions that don't match hers the way some profs do. Tests are challenging but fair. Buy the textbook.
She is very nice teacher, helpful, knowledgeable!!!
She is super duper and an awesome lecturer.
She's very funny and nice, requires a lot of group work. Lots of reading if you take it over the summer but fun assignments and room to be creative. Not as easy of a marker as she looks but fair. Don't be late.
Awesome prof really enjoyed her class! She is a very hands on teacher and takes time in making a fun learning environment
Amy is an awesome teacher and her class isn''t very difficult. Tests allow a cheat sheet.
Hope you like to act! As for the introvert in me, hated the class!!
Excellent lecturer. Creates an interactive learning environment. I got a lot out of the course. Textbook is needed for exams and preparation. Overall, I learned a lot. Three hour classes a bit long, but she will let you out early if you are finished everything.
she is an amazing person, best teacher at tru.,open book exams, liberal making, interesting projects, made us play soccer, real fun,she is a really inspiring teacher.
Amy is a terrific teacher, and you would be stupid to take anyone else for this class. Her lectures are always really interesting and she is the only teacher I have had so far that made 8:30 courses fun to attend. Be prepared to do a lot of acting in this class, but overall its fun and you get good at teamwork. I highly recommend her!
Ms. Tucker shows an interest in her students and supports them in their learning. She provides excellent feedback and allows you to focus on improving yourself. She is receptive to new ideas and others' viewpoint and won't shoot you down. Extremely down to earth, inspiring and funny. I would take this class again. Good elective.
One of the most amazing professors at TRU. I have to say reading through the feedback of this site & actually taking the course, I have to say you have to take the course & decide on your own. By far, the most real, personable and brilliant professors at TRU. Amy is a genius & is very intelligent - how she transfers the information to students.
Best prof ever. Made my return to school something very special. Values timeliness, very respectful and creates a safe, and inspirational environment for her students.
Amy is an amazing teacher: inspirational, engaging, motivating, and to the point.
Amy is a very intelligent and skilled professor. she teaches with passion and makes her classes really interactive and interesting.
Amy is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Her experiential learning methods always keep the students engaged. I genuinely used to look forward to her ORGB 2810 classes. She always strives to gain knowledge and share it with others. I highly recommend Amy as an inspirational teacher and an amazing human being.
I am so glad that I took this class with Amy. Her class was never boring and I ended up with a pretty good group, which made life easier. You really shouldn't miss class because sometimes she gives assignments and exam questions/tips. I'm a pretty shy person, but I was very comfortable in this class. One of the best professors at TRU.
Teamwork feels like it takes over your whole life for the entire semester. Your grade is really dependent on your team. Lots of work in this course, more than any of my other courses this term. Grades deducted for being absent and late. Peer reviewed can also make a difference on your grade. Very difficult to get an A. You work for it.
nice professor. She give wonderful time for team work. Her class was never boring. She explains very clear and helpful. I will take her again in the future.
Ok instructor. Don't get all the hype - she's rather a normal instructor. Classes are kind of boring and you feel like you're in middle/high school. Assignments are boring, and some of them really long. Expect to work in groups 24/7.
This course is very interesting and touches a lot of interesting subjects. The Fantasy Project is a lot of fun. Lots of reading and team assignments. The mid-term and final exam are difficult.
Excellent course. Very well facilitated and organized. Projects are relevant and provide real life experience. Textbook a must.
Amy is an awesome teacher! She really cares for students, and genuinely wants to see them succeed. There was a lot of team activities, but they were fun. She implements the material into common scenarios that we might face. She's really creative, and can make a boring class interesting.
BEST TEACHER EVER
Amy is pretty straight forward and down to earth. She tries to keep the course interesting with current events, pop culture and video clips. She is kind, caring and compassionate. Treats students with respect and is very humble towards others. Don't be fooled into thinking it's an easy course, you will work for it.
Amy Tucker is a very positive teacher, she likes to make engaging discussions and interesting assignments. She has found away to format the class around her ideals. I wasn't a huge fan of the final reflective essay. Its kind of a lazy way to get an understanding of the students views of the class.
Amy has a big personality which helped make the class fun. She did a good job of incorporating the textbook theory with real life examples, videos, and activities. Just expect to take part in lots of class discussions and team activities. You can tell that she really cares about her students. I will definitely take her classes again!
AWESOME !!
Very easy course and flexible
If you have not had Amy Tucker as an instructor, you are missing out. By far one of the most engaging professors at TRU. She is able to connect theory to application and provide you with a real life experience. Her ideas are big picture, but she is able to connect you to the details in a matter of fact way. I learned so much in my teamwork class.
Amy is very dedicated to her students. She kind of like a mom to all the younger students. Her lectures are interesting and she tries to bring in outside of examples. She has lots of experience and knowledge, you will learn a lot. She treats everyone with respect and really understanding. Mid-term was brutal but is an overall fair marker.
Fair course. Lots of group activities.
Amy as a teacher is amazing. She is funny, energetic, and easy to relate to. Her classes do not feel like your ordinary classes. Only negative feedback I have is that the text book is terrible. Tests are open book but, as usual, open book tests does not mean that you do not have to read it before hand. Book + Highlighter + Participation Easy A
Amy is a great prof like everyone says, but I find she can be confusing and unclear about things at times. This course is easy and enjoyable, although you have to put in a lot of effort to succeed. You are placed with one group all semester for multiple projects and activities. Don't forget about your other courses.
Such an awesome professor. Really takes the time to help students.
Outstanding professor. Really takes the time to get to know students. If you have to take a course in summer session, take it with Amy. She is a think outside the box kind of instructor. Be prepared to be engaged. You won't sleep in this class.
Honestly, I've taken 5-years of studies at TRU. I can say, without a doubt, every student must experience the motivation and charisma Amy brings to the school and her courses. She is the definition of what a university professor should be like. I've studied at UBC/SFU and TRU is SOOO lucky to have her. Thanks for teaching me in ORGB 2810 and 3770.
Amy is a great prof! I did not find this class lecture heavy whatsoever. She wants her students to succeed and gives everyone a fair chance to do so! She has a great personality which makes the lecture portions enjoyable. She doesn't have time for in class Drama which is also appreciated.
I took Amy's ORGB2810 class in the summer of 2017 and her teaching style was very engaging. She covers alot of information through her slides and her group projects are actually really fun and you make new friends. She had open book exams (cheat sheet)! She's also a pretty easy marker. I reccommend this class if you need to take it, take her!
Amy is an outstanding teacher. I had her for organizational behaviour, human resource management, and teamwork. Every course got better and better. She is one of the most engaging instructors I have had at TRU. It is obvious she loves her job, her students, and life. She wants you to be successful and supports you. Amy gives good feedback.
Lots of reading.
Amy is overly easy. If you want easy credits and a chill class it works. It fails however to provide a challenge and give any true real world insight or knowledge. She needs to give more traditional lectures so that students can obtain more information from the class.
Read the textbooks, complete the case studies, participate and you will pass the course. The exams are tricky and are based on the readings of the textbook and Powerpoint. Put in a permanent team early on. Lots of group work.
Amy teaches the class in an engaging way that includes discussions, conversations, and real-life examples. The class is not boring because everyone is participating. The textbook is free and online. There is a lot to read. She puts everything on Moodle. No complaints. Show up, study, and pass.
An engaging course and super fun. You learn about teamwork from a practical and theoretical perspective. I highly recommend. Plus, you get to go rock climbing.
You learn a lot about yourself and how to work with others in the work place
Without a doubt, Amy is an extremely gifted lecturer. She is able to connect people to ideas and bigger global thoughts. She is a kind, considerate, and thoughtful individual. She provides excellent feedback - you will grow in this course. You will learn a lot about yourself.
Amazing professor, easy grader. Loved her class..
Overall, I really enjoyed the course. The textbook is available online and for free. The course covers a lot of information so be prepared to read. The exams are tricky so be sure to listen for the exam hints. Amy is supportive and provides excellent feedback if you ask. She is genuine and truly appreciates students. I highly recommend.
Mid-term exam is a textbook exam. You are allowed a cheat sheet, but best you study the textbook for the exams. Overall, fair course and textbook is free.
EDUC 5400 is an excellent course. There is just enough balance between research and presentations. Amy is available to provide feedback and give you some direction in your assignments. The class was quite pleasant.
Amy may be the best teacher I've ever had. She's the perfect mix of a caring teacher with a good sense of humour, one who will inspire you and encourage to work and learn. Simply an amazing teacher and person, I was honestly a bit sad the course when the course was done.
Amy is a supportive professor with clear expectations and beneficial feedback. She encourages group participation through the online discussion forum. I would be happy to learn from her in another class. FYI - This particular class has a lot of reading.
Amy Tucker is a very caring, kind individual that chooses to give back and has made a huge difference in many peoples lives. Her lectures are inspirational and very interesting. SHe definitely knows what she's talking about. Before I was unsure what I wanted to pursue in University and now because of her I have decided to major in leadership.
Amy is one of the most passionate, sincere people I've had the pleasure of encountering in academia. She is always willing to help her students, but her lectures are so engaging and accessible that you might not need it. Amy is always available to talk to students on any topic. This class was amazing!
Awesome teacher. Uses a very different teaching style with lots of class discussion and presentations (the papers with the presentations and not the presentations themselves were graded, this made the presentations rather enjoyable). Amy is very friendly and open, but attendance is a must. She's super strict on that and not much else.
Being an intro class targeted at a diverse group of students, I found this course extremely easy. That being said, it was also extremely interesting. I learn from participating in class, so Amy's style suited me ideally. She really encourages everyone to talk about issues and come to their own conclusions. A couple of group projects, exams & paper
Amy inspires learning. She cares about her programs and her students. She pushes you to be a better writer and a better analyst. I appreciate her enthusiasm.
One of the most inspiring professors TRU has. Any student would be blessed if they got in to one of her classes because they always fill up so quickly - and that's because she's THAT GOOD! I got into this course and honestly felt like every university course should be taught this way - in TEAMS! Real life lessons and real life experiences. Go Amy!
Amy is charismatic, provocative, and enthusiastic about her courses. Her lectures take you outside the world of academia and gives you the real perspective how to apply what you are learning. She is a professor who is down to earth and truly loves teaching - a rarity in post-secondary education. Amy is kind, caring and compassionate. I recommend.
She is a great professor. I want to take her again. She is very helpful.
Amy is one of the best profs I've had, she is charismatic and genuinely loves teaching. The class is group project-based. If you don't enjoy working groups it may not be the best class. We had some take-home midterms that took a solid couple hours to do, but it allows you to do your best work and actually learn the material rather than cram.
I really enjoyed taking this course with Amy. She was energetic and passionate about the class and the subject. She made learning fun!
I took this course during the summer of COVID-19 which means the course was delivered online. Although Amy was always available and accessible, I really missed the classroom environment. Amy really tried to make connections with the students and supporting them as best she could. She gives good feedback and really supportive in terms of students.
Amy is a fresh breath of air. She loves teaching and is available to answer student emails. She is very helpful, supportive, and always there to provide support to those in need. Amy truly believes in the spirit of humanity and will do whatever it takes to help you achieve your goals. Got issues, email her and be honest, she has your back.
Amy is funny and tries to engage learners through the weekly lesson plans. She provides personal feedback, support and is responsive. I really felt that she cared about me and others. Although the topic can be dry, she did her best to use a variety of sources. Best of all no textbook to buy, everything is free and online.
Very flexible and understands the difficulties facing students in this pandemic situation. Even though it was online, the instructor maintains perfect contact with the students through emails and private chat. Reply to doubts regarding the subjects was very quick. I will strongly recommend for those who want to learn the subject tension-free.
She is actually a great professor and cares for her students. Her grading is very fair. She understands the students' needs due to the pandemic and gives enough time to complete assignments. Take her class, you won't regret.
If you need to take a course in the HRM field take it with Amy. She is extremely organized, efficient, and responsive to emails. The mid-term and final exams were a lengthy but open book. I found the LinkedIn and career planning assignment to be the most beneficial in all my courses at TRU. She provides detailed feedback in a timely manner. Do it.
Amy is very nice and the coursework is clearly laid out. She appreciates the effort put into assignments and is an easy marker. Follow the assignment outlines and you will do great. You do need to read the textbook to learn the course topics but they are easy to understand and the textbook is not too wordy so its an easy read (and free online).
Amy is an incredible professor! She is truly passionate about her job and cares so much for her students. She made online school feel normal and took how hard online school can be into consideration. She really lets you express yourself.
I really enjoyed this class. Interesting content and applicable. Grading was fair, and her suggestions of where to improve in each assignment were clear.
Amy is one in a million. She is kind, caring and compassionate as well as an excellent professor. While other profs chose blended or virtual, Amy made an effort to give a face-to-face learning experience. I highly recommend! She gets if....
I absolutely love Amy, I've taken a few of her courses. 10/10 recommend her, there's a reason her sections are full all the time! Easy marker with clear expectations... every uni student's dream.
Amy is one of the most caring, kind and supportive professors at TRU. She supports students and cares about their success.
I love her..
Great professor
Overall, Amy is an engaging professor who uses Free online textbooks supplemented with Canadian material. She also uses current events, case studies, and happening events to lead discussions. Lots of papers and a team project. Excellent feedback given to improve over term. Will take again.
Best Professor ever!!
Amy is a great teacher! Super helpful and gives clear feedback, she wants you to be able to succeed. 10/10 I would love to take another class with her! :)
Without a doubt Amy is an excellent teacher, mentor, and coach. Unfortunately, she got Covid midway and was off class for nearly three weeks and it really impacted the dynamics of the class. Amy tried hard to keep up the energy, but it was obvious she lacked the enthusiastic teaching we saw at the beginning. Attendance went from full class to 5.
great professor, do yourself a favor and take a course with her
Amy is a very fun, and down to earth professor. The assignments are course work were genuinely interesting and fun to learn.
Definitely one of the best professors out there. Would take any one of her classes again in a heartbeat. Make the information interesting and the projects fun.
Professor Tucker is an expert in the field and has a passion for teaching and a great sense of humour. She's known for using real-world examples and case studies to bring the material to life, and she's always willing to help students who need extra support. She has an interesting way of making even the most boring HR topics seem interesting.
Amy is an excellent teacher who is truly passionate about teamwork. She is always well-prepared and engages the class in meaningful discussions. She is also very patient and is always willing to help students who are struggling. I highly recommend taking a class with her if you have the opportunity.
Amy is an excellent instructor for Organizational Behaviour. Her teaching style is engaging. She is passionate about the subject and is always available to answer questions and provide additional support outside of class. Amy wants everyone to be successful in school and in their career.
Amy tries to create an interactive learning environment by providing lots of activities and discussions. The textbook is available online and free. The mid-term exam was quite challenging but she does provide a good exam review and allows you to bring in a cheat sheet. The team presentations are interesting and you will learn a lot.
Great instructor. Clear assignments and feedback.
This online class was excellent. Amy created a safe environment for the students to make us feel comfortable with having a big presentation and dare to speak up for participation. She is a fair marker and always sees things from the students perspective as well, very caring and responsive to questions or concerns. Very knowledgeable in the field!
I think everything was good in this course. I would say that this course materials are really very effective for the real workplace.
Amy is a phenomenal instructor who truly cares about her students and shows it in her grading, feedback, and interaction even though this course is online. While I learned a lot from having a well-structured course, I also learned a lot about my own writing style and areas for improvement thanks to her dedication and detailed feedback.
Amy is the best professor at TRU. She cares about her students. She goes above and beyond to ensure that you succeed in her course. She is an amicable and kind-hearted person. I would take a class with her again.
Amy is an amazing professor. her teaching style is very different and engaging. i am taking two more courses from Amy this winter.
This Has been one of my favourite courses since it was with Amy. She is super empathetic and caring which makes us very comfortable. she uses daily realistic explanations and expects you to understand the course through your understanding of daily relevant activities. I highly recommend her.
Shes super nice! Answers questions quick. The content was straightforward and easy. Basically, if you read the course material and input it into your papers and incorporate your personal experiences you'll have no problem with the course. Would take her again
First test was easy, second was very hard. Assignments had clear grading criteria but deadlines were flimsy and not properly communicated. She is very accommodating and an easy going person. Very knowledgeable.
Love this prof! Gives marks back within ~2 business days. Emails back quick. She truly cares about your learning and helps. I was pressured to get a good grade for my Masters and was able to help. Highly recommend her!
Professor Amy is engaging and passionate. Her realistic explanations make the material relevant. I found unstuck ai and the free textbook super helpful for preparing. Definitely take this class!
Prof. Amy Tucker was outstanding. Always responsive, replying to emails quickly and offering help whenever needed. Feedback was thorough and detailed, often as long as the assignments. She reviewed every aspect, providing constructive guidance that truly made a difference. This was the best experience I've had in post-secondary highly recommended!
Everyone needs to take at least one class with Amy Tucker! She is the real deal. This is precisely what I imagined university would be like. Amy is a transformational and charismatic leader who will inspire you to strive for your best and become the best version of yourself. A truly unforgettable experience! I highly recommend her!
She is an amazing professor who provides excellent feedback. Though the concepts are easy, you still need to put in quite a bit of work to get 90+ grades. She really wants you to succeed, so I was able to redo an assignment. She is very accessible outside of class. I will definitely be taking more of her courses!
Amy offered excellent feedback on assignments and very clear instructions on how to complete them. Would absolutely recommend.
Let's you submit drafts and then you can resubmit. Responds quickly to questions
