lots of group work. 3 tests..but overall good class
She is funny, but don't be late or not pay attention b/c she is a firecracker and will not stand for it. So if you are respectful of her and her time she is awesome.
She is funny, but don't be late or not pay attention b/c she is a firecracker and will not stand for it. So if you are respectful of her and her time she is awesome. Have not finished the semester but grade should be an A.
She makes you work a lot in groups. I think she makes you work more than you have to! Her paper grading is insane and she talks a lot off topic. She is a professor that loves her job too much
The class itself isn't hard, but she's an obnoxious professor. All she talks about is her "glorious" job at Texas Monthly, and treats everyone as if they're children. If she can be avoided, I highly recommend it.
Class is OK. She is tolerable. Test questions are tricky m/c...you need to be in class to get "examples" from lecture b/c these are on the test. Takes forever to get grades back and feedback. Lots of teamwork.
A fun class with good examples from the real world. Lots of group work but she works with students to understand. Great prof and funny movie clips!
Class is very interesting, exams are not as easy. lot of extra credit, and group work.overall a good class would recomend i got a A.
Very interesting class with relevant information. I took away a lot of things from it and am now able to better appreciate the skill and work it takes to sell. She is nice and helpful.
The class is intresting you need to show what you learn. My test grades were low but induvidual and group projets helped alot. She gives extra credits and she knows the concept very well. Easy B. It is a fun class
her tests are hard, but you get the hang of it by the second one. She will cal you out if you dont pay attention in class. But she looks good so you pay attention.
don't really need $197 book if you use slides, tests are kind of hard, group presentations helped grade.. don't miss extra credit opportunities you'll prob. need them on your tests, group work for big role-play and then individual role-play, learned a lot for real world..showed the office clips!!
Some people will tell you to take business speech instead of this class. Don't listen to them, this is a very easy class and once you finish this class and MARK 3335 you'll get a certificate for sales. It's something good to put in your resume. As far as this teacher goes, You might find her tests hard but u'll make up the grade with two group proj
Pointless class, "customer service brings added value" rephrase that for 5 months. The teacher is good and charismatic, but the tests are really hard because they play around with words. 3 tests, long but easy group project, inclass assignments. Get to watch clips from the "Office". Lots of extra credit
The tests were hard and I never got higher than a C but the projects helped me get an A in the class. Go to class, she has random attendance checks. I really liked her and this class.
This class couldnt be easier! All you have to do is 1)Know the vocabulary 2)Know the slides 3)Read the chapters.Come to class becuase random things from class are on the tests. Great movie and tv show clips to relate concept ideas. Easy on the eyes.
Attendance check random=participation points. Tests not that hard-go to class and write down examples she uses(clips!!), funny! NO technology: phone, computer, whatever. She will call you out if you use it! Group project will boost your grade. Got 96 on first test. B on second. On all projects, 99 or 98! Loved it!
Very easy, make sure u get a group who is willing to meet up outside class to do project or forget about gettting A, u can still fluck the exams and make an A, all in your hand. oh go to class u missed one class that's it. love this class it was awesome
not that boring of a class/teacher. over 50 extra points possible. grading is total points systems so extra credit is simply added. semi-extensive group wor including grand finale role-play at end. tests cover a lot of material at least 5 chapters. a couple random attendance checks.
GoodProf. 3 Hard exams. Never made better than a B. Read the ch. and lecture notes to study. must come to class to watch video clips. a lot of group projects. get a GOOD team, b/c most of ur grade is based on the projects. Good thing is that she gives TONS of XC, so u should definitely get an A- at least. Must be comfortable with public speaking.
Easy class. Three exams and a group project. She's nice and presents clearly, however, the material is intellectually draining and its disheartening to think anyone would actually want a career in sales after going through this course . Her no-technology policy is frustrating and is non-reflective of a real word environment.
She is wonderful. Recomend her anytime
Very interesting class. The project for this class is extremely easy.
very fun and interesting class. amy is such a great professor. she will take random attendance check. 3 test overall and 3 group project. please find hard working group members. she uses many youtube and the office videos to watch, and she'll bring in guess speakers. so, take good notes for both because it'll be on the test. highly recommend!
Class is easy and very easy to follow. Its basically common sense that you use everyday.
amy is such a great instructor, she's well educated and she knows what shes talking about, class was easy, a lot of funny videos shown in class and she brings in guest speakers, 3 exams and 3 projects, they're all easy, and did i forget to mention that she's smoking hot :p
Best prof you could ask for; interesting lectures, hands-on assignments, cares about her field and her students and it shows. All material published in PwrPnts so don't bother buying the book you won't need it. Exams are easy if you go to class & study, learned a LOT from this class... wish every prof operated this way!
Best instructor i've ever had...she's really great and she loves what she does...I left a comment earlier but I didn't mean the low rating...she's smoking hot guys you gotta take her if u wanna make an A
She is the only teacher for this class. BUT on the bright side she's easy! go to class and you'll understand everything! I loved her class because it wasn't so cut and dry it was interesting and fun! She's very nice about everything and just talk to her if you don't get anything! tests are a little hard but the easy project makes up for everything!!
Fun class! Always used movies or shows to demonstrate. Go to class, examples will be on the tests! The tests are on the hard side the lowest I made was a 76 (The first one)then the last two in the 90's. Her test aren't definitions, you must know the definition then apply thats the test the questions. Group projects are easy! Do extra credit!
One of the coolest teachers ever. I took her Spring 2010. Her class consist of 3 exams and projects. Make sure you score ok on the exams but not too low. The project really help your grade. I failed 2 exams and got all A's on project and got b-. You get to watch clips from the show office. You need to take her!
I will vouch for her any day. She's a fantastic teacher and not only teaches the course well, but also gives you real world advice that'll help in your career. Every assignment is relevant not just useless busy work. Mind you, its not a easy class but if you put in the work you'll make an A no doubt. Oh and shes pretty hot!(this coming from a girl)
All I can say is the class is tough, but it's an easy "A" because she makes sure you understand and she is very clear! I had no problem in this class she gives exam reviews and there are 2 sales projects but she makes them easy because she explains them to you! She is very hot,oh and she will get mad if you don't pay attention in class.
Class is easy. Just pay attention, do the extra credit, work out the study guide, and pick a good group to join on the projects and you should easily make an A. Professor Vandaveer is a really nice teacher. Easiest class at UH for business majors.
Easy teacher! Make sure to pick good group members. There are two projects, one is a group grade. So make sure your teammates are dedicated non-flaky ones. Exams are easy. She gives a review, you just need to fill out the review and study only that. No comprehensive finals. possible 10 pts extra credit.
She is seriously the best professor! She's really helpful and has really been there. Go to class because the examples are on the tests. Tests are fairly hard because you they are example based. You have to understand it! Pick good group members! I made an A, and attendance is only necessary during guest speakers (though I suggest you go everyday).
great teacher!! you learn a lot in the class. Her lectures are not boring she keeps you interested so you rarely space out when she talks, which is a good thing..She also give a lot of extra credit and it really helps your grade out... I would highly recommend her... TWO THUMBS UP
She is a very friendly professor and easy to approach for questions. Exams aren't hard. Just study the notes, book, and guest speaker info. Got me an A in the class. Group project; well it's not so bad if you're around good hardworking team members. Other than that, it's a good fun class. She makes it easy for you. Very helpful.
She's a great teacher. Very open and helpful. Definitely an interesting class, even if you're not a Marketing major. Just do your work, go to class and you'll do great.
Amy is a great professor! No reason why you should NOT do good in this class. I know i was intimidated somewhat by all the work the syllabus showed, but it's really not much through the semester. One semester long project, VERY easy...exams are ok, don't just know definitions but how to apply them in situations. Got an A
PROS: Clips from The Office and other media. EC experiments. Attendance not mandatory. possible 50pts EC CONS: Group work. Scattered Lectures. Rushed Lectures. 50pts EC in the hands of group members MY ADVICE: pick a group of people who are willing to work hard or at least TRY, get to know them FIRST. My group sucked.
Loved her!!! She really wants you to do good unlike some teachers who dont care. HIGHLY suggest her. One of my favorite classes so far. Dont go in thinking its a blow off class. It can be hard for some. Final wasnt too bad. Made an 84. Once again.. HIGHLY suggest. You will use the material you learn wherever you end up one way or another. A+. J.
I enjoyed this class, you do have to go to class bc a lot of test questions are based on side example given only in class. Helps that she is a hot redhead.
This professor was awesome. The tests were hard, but as long as you read the chapters and pay attenion in clas, they werent that bad. The selling experience gained from this class is extremely helpful and has made me want to consider a career in selling
Sexy Sexy RED HEAD, and she is a great teacher. She give really good real world tips and knows her stuff.
She was very easy to learn from. Always willing to help. Checks attendance every time there is a guest speaker. I actually learned a lot. There is a group project so start looking for teammates early. PowerPoints help a lot and she asks about class examples in tests.
only class i look forward to. spin project was nerve wrecking.
Dont buy the book! Tests are OK, do and study the review. Go to class bc she uses a lot of examples. Class is actually interesting and useful! Takes attendance when there is guest speakers. Group project through whole semester so pick a good group. Put some effort in and its an easy B...Work and you can make an A. She gives some extra credit too
What a great down to earth teacher that uses classic movies and TV shows to relate real world selling scenarios. situations. This class should be taken by anyone and everyone in order to succeed in their degree. Confidence builder, makes you less shy, a professional teacher also who seems sweet. Makes you appreciate education.
One of the best professors I ever had. This class is an EASY A if you actually go to class and do the work for the spin/role play project. I never had to read the book, everything is in her lecture. Great Professor really knows her stuff I loved this class. I highly recommend it.
Very passionate about her work. You can tell she knows what she's talking about. Brings in interesting speakers, and she makes it easy for you to LEARN the material with the SPIN group project. A must take!!!
Fun and easy class. Exams are straight from the powerpoints DO NOT BUY THE BOOK IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY! Not much to say except she's an awesome teacher that makes the lame class fun and interesting. Get a good group, and it's an easy A.
She's my favorite!! Her class was a lot of fun, and she was very helpful. She explained things thoroughly and always came to class prepared, slides and small video clips were fun!!
shes sooo easy., dont buy the book. its a complete waste. if you go to class everyday, you will memorize everything she says bc her class is so entriguing and everything that comes out of her mouth is something you easily remember and will be on the tests.
Easy A!!! Vandaveer makes this class very easy, tells you exactly whats on the exam, and is easy to contact for help. I took her over the Winter Session. 3 exams and 2 class projects. Very interesting course. She teaches you tips that go beyond the classroom.
Amy is a sweetheart. She definitely wanted you to succeed in her class and in life. SPIN role play is essential in business. She is great. Take her class!
Amy is one of the best professors I have ever had! The class is easy ONLY if you follow her instructions, which are crystal clear. She is bubbly, entertaining, yet slightly edgy if you get on her bad side. Most importantly, she genuinely wants you to learn. Did I mention that she's a smokin' hot lil' redhead? Foxxxy!
One of the Best teachers at UH! I recommend her for sure. Just do what she says and you will be fine.
she is the sweetest teacher ever. she is genuinely nice and is always available to help you out. i definitely recommend her, do whatever she says to do, and you will get an A+ for sure.
Real easy class. 3 test and a group project. Class seemed more like a promotion for the selling program. Amy is a knockout though.
An easy class, just show up and actually pay attention and your good. Don't really need to purchase the book though and she does give some extra credit opportunities. overall easy and good teacher she helps keep you interested in the material
Easy to understand prof. Loved her class. Brings in guest speakers often. Tests can be easy if you come to class and take good notes. Team project is basically the experience of selling, its fun just make sure to pick a good team.
Its a fun class. You really don't need a textbook for this class. The slide and your common sense is much more than enough to walk out with an A. Lots of video examples and guest speakers to break some of the monotony. But when role play comes around, be sure to have really good team mates. Half of your grade depends on them.
Professor Vandaveer tells you exactly what is you are exactly tested on. Create a great team and do your best in the play roles. I could have done better on the exams. A minus in fall 2012.
LOVE Amy, Best professor I've had at UH. She tells you what is on the test exactly, don't really need the book since her slides come from the book but sometimes there are one or two thing from the book that are not on the slides, group project is really easy just listen in class to all the details you need to know and form an awesome group for an A
My favorite teacher ever in life.
She's probably the sole reason why UH obtained Tier One status as a college. The world needs more teachers like her.
Literally the best professor I have ever had. She brings her real life experience into the classroom, making it really fun and easy to understand. I recommend her for any and every class she teaches.
Best teacher I have ever had, hands down! She helps you out and answers any questions you have. Her lectures are very interesting and keeps you engaged!
She's really great. Go to class and you will do well.
I actually thought the Group projects were going to be hard, but they were a breeze. I really enjoyed this class and learning the ins and out of Marketing. This was the only the class I would not fall asleep , loved the videos she would show us. Her guest speakers were awesome.
Great professor. Made class interesting and not slow. Helps you understand the REAL world of marketing and how to put your best foot forward. Exams are very clear. Biggest challenge are the group projects which start right out the gate. Make sure to have an great team. Grade really relies upon them.
Well first of all it is an extremely easy class. Second of all personally I found it extremely boring and fell asleep in it. Third of all I dislike this teacher her personality rubs me the wrong way and I find her rude and she likes to brag. Group projects are easy the only thing that might give you difficulty are the quizzes.
She is an excellent teacher! The class can sometimes get boring but for the most part I found it interesting. She makes it very clear what will be on tests. Its really not difficult to get an A in her class. I liked that she was strict about no talking or texting.
Professor Vandaveer is truly a great teacher. She does not allow the use of cellphoneslaptopsiPads, so it gives you the opportunity to actually pay attention to her lectures. She does not put up with anybody talking or walking out of class, and trust me she will call you out. I can honestly say I've learned more from her than any other teacher.
Pass the SPIN and group projects. Attendance are important for the tests. She takes phones, PC, and talking crazy. She is almost acts like your mother at school.
Miss Vandaveer is an AMAZING teacher, she keeps you glued to her words, real life examples and is a real inspirational teacher if you want to go into business Marketing & Sales you MUST take her All based on Powerpoints - & Group work ( FIND A WOKRING GROUP) and you'll be fine :) GREAT GREAT
She's actually a really great professor and has a vast amount of knowledge in this field. She gave out reviews on every test, and they were really helpful. There were no surprises on her tests. Group projects are a must. Make sure to go to class because she randomly takes attendance.
Prof. Vandaveer taught us well. I have been improving from the class onwards. Our class was business communication and I am a non native speaker but she totally connected to my progress. I have almost absorbed 90+% of lectures. She is little easy on grading side but don't drop your guard, that is an insult to a teacher.
Nothing unexpected in the course. She tells you exactly what you need to know, to learn and to succeed. Do as said and you will earn an A.
She has 3 tests and a group project. Her lectures are long and boring just reading off the powerpoint. She'll randomly surprise you with a guest speaker and take attendance. Not an interactive class and will call you out if you're talking or using your phonelaptop. No technology allowed in her class. Quite backwards to be honest, stay away
Her tests are tough and review is nothing like the exams. You can take a speech class as an alternative for this credit DO THAT! Stay away from this class because she'll call you out on random things. No respect for students and group project that stretches out for the whole semester
I loved her class. Print out her slides before class and take notes on them, her tests are from her slideslectures. Her tests aren't bad, just study and do the extra credit she generously gives and you should do great in her class. And get ready to "unplug and engage"! :)
The downside of this class is half of your grade is from the group project. Therefore, it is very essential to find a good team! Tests are not hard and she gives extra credits. Easy A.
She has 3 exams and a real cool role playing group project that is really fun and easy. Take her!
Great teacher. Most of the grade comes from group work, so don't get behind on that part of the course.
Professor Vandaveer is a great! I love the little videos she ties into her lecture. As far as her test, they can be a little tricky YOU NEED TO READ if you want an "A" (study vocabulary & lecture). Also, make sure you understand it enough bc she uses examples on her exam. There is 1 group project we work on throughout the semester it's pretty easy!
It is a marketing class, it should be easy already. Professor Vandaveer is a nice professor and wants respect from students as she respects students as well. She is nice and pretty! This class is based on group project so choose team carefully! Other than that exams are somewhat easy and her lectures are long but never boring.
Professor Vandaveer is a great lecturer. Her syllabus is clear on what you have to do to get an A. The group project is fun and easy and will most likely buoy your grade. However, don't underestimate the tests. Read the textbook, go to class and you will score high. Overall cool class and good prof.
Vandaveer was made to be a marketing professor. She's charming, teaches very well and is very enthusiastic about the subject. Her tests are not difficult at all, she WILL call you out if you leave in the middle of her lecture without telling her but that the only downside. There are also 3 outside assignments with a group, but it's still an easy A
Prof. Vandaveer is intelligent and straightforward. She ties content from lectures to videos as well as her past experiences as a professional! Group project that is a major portion of your grade, so choose a group wisely! At least 3 exams with an outline review, reading the textbook is a must if you want an A (it's interesting though!) Take her!
Amy Vandaveer is an amazing professor! She knows what she's doing and makes so so enjoyable! She uses videos in class to connect her lectures and also personal experience. There are 3 exams, very straight forward. 1 big project that has 3 parts. This is so far my favorite class I have taken at UH! Attendance is mandatory when theres a guest speaker
Professor Vandaveer is amazing. She is really inspiring when it comes to teaching. Her real life examples and the videos really helps you understand the stuff. There is a selling project in which you have to sell the product and 3 exams. Study and you will be good. Go to her class to understand how to sell.
If you've ever been in DECA, the 3 exams are just like the DECA marketing exams. So not easy but not super difficult. 3 group projects that involve selling products. Half the class is a promotion for PES. Participation matters. Some lecture content goes way deep into marketing concepts that it's unnecessary. She's more street smart than book smart.
3 tests (each is 50 Q's multiple choice). Group prjct is 3 grades (SPIN role play, selling plan, Sales role play) Doesn't take roll but about 7-8 Q's on tests come from in-class examples. Class not 2 easy but not 2 hard. The group projects aren't hard, just make sure u have dependable group. Study exam reviews n power points n u should be good.
She never responds to emails and makes mistakes on grading. A lot of your grade also relies on the judgement of PES students.
Great professor, doesn't sugarcoat things. Lots of extra credit opportunities given out, wish I did more though. Take her if you're given the chance and choose your group project partners wisely!
Throughly enjoyed Amy's class. She is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and she sparked my interest in the subject. Absolutely would recommend, even if not a business major.
Awesome teacher. The tests were fair, I studied her PowerPoints and an older edition textbook and got A's on all 3. The tests do have "lecture specific" questions but I rarely attended class, studied hard for the tests, and got an A in the class. WARNING: you stay with same group all semester for projects, choose wisely (people skills needed)!
3 exams (all MC but u will have to read a lot) I got 2 Bs and 1 C on them but high A's on all the group projs, ending up with A+ in class. 3 projs, all easy as long as u dont slack off (selling in front of PES person, write a proposal and roleplay, videotaped). overall you will get ur money's worth, she's knowledgeable and inspiring
Amy lacks historical knowledge. She attempted to discuss WWI and related it to how marketing has transformed, but all her views on WWI technology was completely falsified. Also when she wants a guest speaker to stop talking, she will stand in front of them until they stop talking. (So rude it's actually funny) Very boring lectures. Tests are easy.
By far my favorite professor AND class this semester. Amy makes class very clear and interesting. The group projects were pretty fun and not hard. She truly makes you see the marketing world from a different perspective no matter your major. She also brings really motivational speakers to class so thats a bonus!! Take this class and take her!!
This class is BORING! It is one of those classes that truly makes you fall asleep during lecture. If it wasn't for the examples that she shows in class (test questions!), no one would ever show up. Tests are off of the powerpoints. Group projects are super easy as long as everyone works together to come up with something that is "college acceptable
Do the extra credit! It can definitely make the difference in letter grade. I made an A by one point, but if I didn't do the extra credit I would have been in the A- range. Go over power points for exams and pay attention in lectures when she shows videos because she does ask about them. Attendance on mandatory when there are guest speakers.
Classes were not mandatory, there was no attendance except for the days where she had a guest speaker. Amy makes this class interesting and there is also a lot of group activity so choose wisely.
Vandaveer was great. She told us from the beginning what was expected of us, so nothing came as a surprise. Attendance is counted the days we have guest speakers. You choose your group during the first week or so and you're stuck with those people all semester, so choose wisely. Her group projects were easy and educational. Would recommend!
She's awesome!!!! Take her !!
Professor Vandaveer is amazing! She explains the content so well, and her tests are clear and similar to the review. She uses real world examples and really wants her students to do well. She's funny and makes boring content enjoyable with fun videos from the Office.
Great easy class that will for sure guarantee you an easy A- or A. Just make sure you study the powerpoints for tests and pick a group that knows what they're doing and can work on a deadline.
Go to class and take good lecture notes for the exams. Choose your group members wisely for the group project. Lastly, she does offer opportunities for extra credit so take advantage of them.
Professor Vandaveer is an excellent professor. The class is fun but also a bit boring during lecture. There are 3 exams. Exam 1&3 are relatively easy but exam 2 had the lowest average. Group Project makes up about 45% of your grade, so choose wisely the project makes you or breaks you. There are 3 extra credit opportunities. Guest Speakers as well
I hope the professor reads this.. because she is awesome! her lectures were super interesting to me. I consider her one of the best professors I ever taken! Its great to have professors like this at UH
She is a great teacher and is really passionate about her job. Attendance is not mandatory but for the group project she basically tells you what she wants and how do to it. I would definitely take her again!
Love her!!!! she is the best! She is super helpful and is an amazing professor. Electronics are to be put away or she will call you out. I found it hilarious she isnt shy about it. Love it! great class you will learn a lot.
Cool teacher but very boring class. I almost fell asleep a number of times. Make sure you go to class because she will pop extra credit for attendance. As long as you listen in class and review her powerpoints you will do fine.
Show up to class to hear specific content that will show up on exams. Otherwise, reading all relevant chapters the night before should get you an A on all exams. Large group component but it takes the bare minimum to do well so if you're too lazy to prep for 1 hour, the grade will reflect.
Get ready to unplug and engage. Hot teacher with a great southern accent. Show up and do your work and you will do fine in her tests. Tests are taken in class and are straight from her reviews. Study the reviews and you will do fine. 1 group project that is easy too
Professor Vandaveer made this class one of the best classes I have taken in business school! She was so good at explaining concepts and giving examples that would help clear up the topic. She would take attendance the day there was a guest speaker, and it counted for part of your grade. She has many extra credit opportunites. Take advantage of it!
She is great at what she does. Class consists of 3 in class exams, a selling project/role play, and a couple of extra credit opportunities.
A very interesting class, that may also count as a communication credit. Lectures might get a little boring sometimes but Amy teaches this course very well. Fairly easy in-class tests with a selling group project.
Easy to get an A. Go when she takes attendance but other than that it is a waste of time tbh. This class was as useless to me as GENB. 3 exams and project are pretty much your grade. The class isn't hard but is just so incredibly boring, she's nice though. Transfer kids that already have a communication credit are lucky they don't have to take this
She would never follow the syllabus (ie it would say lecture on a certain day and she'd have a guest speaker... where attendance was mandatory) and her exams would constantly have questions where more than 1 answer was right. Marketing is not rocket science but she keeps making it seem harder than rocket science.
Go to class and you'll be fine. You don't need a supplementary textbook. The exam questions are all covered in lecture. You get to watch funny videos in class that support the material. Group projects are mandatory so make sure you work well with other people (try taking the class with friends). Her class is fun and engaging! Attend for sure!
Group project and 3 easy exams that come from the PPT or free pdf of the book. The project isn't hard, it's just annoying bc we had to sell tools which none of us had interest or any knowledge on so it was whatever. Just do what's on the syllabus, EC, and maybe alternate going to class w/friends so that when she does random EC sign in, u get it.
This class is fairly interesting and the projects are pretty engaging. Professor Vandaveer really tries to push selling down your throat and turn everyone into a salesperson. It's annoying but I learned from it so I'm not mad. You have to dress up in business formal attire twice so if you hate that, this isn't the class for you.
-attendance is only mandatory with guest speakers -3 tests, easy, all is on powerpoint(i would recommend do practice tests on quizlet lol) -one group project but two presentation -one selling plan with your group -tons of EC opportunities -she is ok, sometimes she was rude (i think she was in a bad mood) and she calls u out but she is ok
She doesn't have many grades besides 3 tests and a group project! She offers a ton of extra credit opportunities SO DO IT! she is super sweet and passionate about her class... she enjoys teaching it and you watch tons of clips from The Office! study for exams and you'll do great!
Grading consists of 3 exams, group projects, and Packback questions. Attendance is only mandatory for a few of her lectures (for points) but her tests are ALL ABOUT HER LECTURE MATERIAL. So even though attendance isn't required, you really do need to go in order to do well on her exams. Tests were kind of challenging, but overall a great prof.
Professor Vandaveer is passionate about what she does and puts a lot of effort and personal stories into her lectures, which keeps the class interesting. She will even use movies and episodes from The Office for examples. I missed a few of the packback assignments but was still able to get a decent grade in the class.
First half of the year was way better in terms of lectures. Second half all we lectured about was the big project that we do every semester, didn't learn anything about marketing. She was really cool and chill though and plays videos from The Office to demonstrate points. Tests weren't hard if you study the review that she gives you
Hands down best teacher ever. Gives answers to projects, spin role plays, tests, and extra credit. LISTEN TO HER LECTURES EVERYDAY Her lectures are something you can apply in real life when you self-market to get a job. She would change your life and make you confident. I have learned a lot more than marketing. I woke up early just to attend class.
This class was super easy; yes there is a few group projects and assignments but is relatively easy. Just attend lectures and you'll pass the exams.
Overall, the class was really nice, and Vandaveer wasn't too bad. What got me was her freaking tests. They were ridiculously picky with the answer choices. It was very frustrating. And her reviews omitted things that were on the tests. Ex: "know the guest speaker's name and company." Test: "What was their college major." Ridiculous!
The professor is ok but the lectures are boring.
Lectures are boring but the majority of the things on the test comes directly from the lectures. Going to classes is extremely beneficial but not mandatory. Grading guidelines are simple and easy to understand. Test reviews are all on quizlet.
I don't understand why the tests would be riddled with questions over the guest speakers, I'm here to learn sales. I'm not going to remember which college a specific guest speaker went to because its not relevant. She should take a bigger attendance grade instead of making the tests half questions like that and half questions about the material
You have a semester-long project that's worth half your grade, so form a good team. She takes attendance when guest speakers come, and includes questions on the tests over their details. (i.e. what college they attended, or their major) You have to pay $20 for a packback subscription for hw and discussion questions. Not the easiest A, but fun class
Vandaveer makes you jump through a million hoops because she knows how easy the content is. Exams contain personal snippets of info you only get in class. Projects are a joke, led by the clown brigade itself, PES. This class is very easy, arguably common sense. Get ready for a simple class turned into utter nonsense. I can believe I paid for this.
I enjoyed this class . It is easy ,but if you miss class you might miss a lot. some of her test questions are based on things we talked about in class .So if you do not go to class you are not going get the question right . There are also mandatory days where you have to come to class or you loose points. She also gives extra credit
Great Professor!
Really good teacher. knows what she is talking about and is very caring about her students. The group project seem complicated but they are not as bad as they sound. definitely would take again. Study the powerpoints
This class is easy enough to pass, but she is annoyingly cryptic in her emails which led to me getting a lower grade than necessary. So be ready to infer.
You have to put in your work to get an A in this class. This is not a hard class, but there is a lot of homework. There are quizzes of chapters and then exams after every few chapters which are easy. There is also a group project but prof has elaborated and given instruction on how to do it, which makes it easy. The lectures are kind of long though
COIVD: Amy's understanding and responds back to emails quickly. Her quizzes and exams can mostly be found on Quizlet and online. There is lockdown browser for exams. There is 1 group project that isn't hard (contact her if you can't get in touch with them ASAP). This class isn't hard and you won't regret having her as your professor. TAKE HER!!!!!!
Worst Prof ever. Everything is monitored during exams so FYI on that. All of her assignments are all over the place. Shell email you that something is due, but on Blackboard it says a completely different date. I missed one exam because it said on Blackboard it was due a different day. I emailed her and she basically said sucks. WORST EVER!
This was the worst class I have ever taken. Blackboard is all over the place. There are 3 Exams (Make sure to study, even if you take the class online), many quizzes (which are easy), and some projects that are due. For the projects she makes everything complicated. If you looked at my blackboard, you would be in shock. MARK 3336 was not this bad.
Lots of lectures, but its an interesting class. Projects are fairly easy. Tests are hard.
Numerous errors in the announcements (deadlines) and project instructions. Watch the overview and lecture videos for correct deadlines & instructions. Navigating her BB page has a learning curve. Almost inaccessible out of class. Her exam&quiz answer choices are very picky. Exams are monitored. 1 easy roleplay and 1 group project.
3 exams, 1 individual project and 1 group project. Exams are a bit hard, have lockdown browser/cam. She gives out multiple extra credit opportunities. 1 quiz due per week, but are really easy. You have to put in work for this class but it's really not that hard. Review the quizzes for the tests, she reuses some questions.
While material for this course is straightforward, she, as a professor, is awful. She is rude and passive aggressive when addressing student concerns (grades, instruction, general confusion, etc). Exams and reviews do not correlate for the most part so be prepared for that. Overall, she is just confusing and frustrating. Good luck.
The professor is OK and the TA is pretty helpful. Her assignments are all over the place, which can be quite confusing and hard to follow. She gave out the exam review but the exam is nothing like the review or the lecture.
The exams and test reviews don't correlate. It used to be until she found out that all of her quizzes and exam answers were compromised via Quizlet. Her exams are made up by her. In order to pass the class you actually need to watch all of her videos. The exam is mainly scenarios so get ready to memorize a whole bunch of vocabulary.
The exam reviews do not really correlate with the new exams she made. A webcam is required for exams/group project. For the group project, you have to record your group roleplaying a "business meeting" which no one in my group even wanted to do, but the group project in total makes up nearly half your grade in the class so you have to do it.
This professor is barely accessible outside of class. For an asynchronous online class, you would assume the professor would be on it with emails. Grades and criterion were unclear. Typos in a few announcements/instructions. If you have no choice but to take her, contact her TAs. She relies on them too much.
The course was overloaded with deliverables (counted 47 deliverables). Materials were difficult to find on BB. Nothing really learned. Had some insulting experiences and general waste of time. Witnessed straight rude behavior from this professor, glad it's over. Do not recommend this professor under any circumstances. Avoid.
There are a lot of lectures and quizzes. The exams do not correlate to the material from the lectures or powerpoint presentations. All of the exams require Lockdown browser and you are recorded. This class is way more difficult than it should be. Good luck getting a response from the professor if you email her. She heavily relies on TA's.
This class combined 3 exams, which required Respondus and a semester sales project. The exams aren't comprehensive and not that hard. The project helps you to go out of your comfort zone, but not in a scary way. She will guide you through the project throughout the course rather than just throwing everything at you at once. Take her!!!
I really thought this class would be stressful, but Vandaveer is great and really provided amazing lectures that are extremely helpful. The spin role group project can be stressful, but work together and you should be fine.
You will come in hoping to take away something meaningful that you will use for the rest of your career. The class was student-led and you'll find that what you're supposed to learn comes out of video lectures you must watch before class and a book that will be the base of your group projects. No respect for students and BB lacks organization.
Do not take if you care about your grade. Disorganized group projects and lack of professor as well as TA availability and consideration via email. Find any other professor avoid this one at all costs.
I took her asynchronous class and she had prerecorded lectures so the dates can sometimes throw you off especially when it comes to the three-part group project that she assigns. it's very hands-on and you will need to be attending lectures and make sure you're paying attention. if you keep up, it's super easy. She's pretty easy on grading.
Exams were super hard and unrelated to the material given in class. Assignments were due on Mondays and Wednesdays but they're easy. The group project can either go really well or really bad. I had a good group so we did everything that needed to be done. Project was an inconvenience but it wasnt terrible. Doable class.
Easy class. Tests are on lockdown, and there is a group project. Should be an A with minimal effort.
This class was pretty easy, however she made the class a bit harder than it should. The exams don't correlate with the review, lots of mistakes on announcements. Group project is majority of grade so thats hit or miss depending on group. 1 Quiz every week and 3 exams. Do your stuff and you'll be fine
I had to take this course and it added so much extra stress to my semester. I respect the professor's passion for the course but opening that course would give me such a headache and stress due to the volume of information put out and assignments required each week along with exams and the sales projects. Beware of group work on the sales project.
Professor Novak really cares about her students. She genuinely wants to set you up for success, regardless of if you are majoring in Marketing/Sales. This class will push you out of your comfort zone with group projects and recordings of sales pitches, but the grading is not tough. As long as you give a good effort, you will get a good grade.
I loved the thought the professor but into each students work.
Reviews could be more tailored to the Exam as those can be difficult. 3 lockdown exams with a group project. 15 chapters with 5 question quizzes for each chapter open book open note. The group project will save you if you don't do good on the exams. Extra credit sprinkled throughout marketing PES. I took her online and it was not hard at all.
Class was easy, weekly quizzes, three exams (webcam), & projects, Vandaveer was organized on Canvas but wish she wouldn't post the material twice in one week; made it hard to plan out my week but that's just me. Lots of extra credit ops which bumped my grade to an A even tho I missed one exam. Vandaveer is a solid choice!
The entire class is lined out from the very beginning. It is an easy A, although I got an A- because I missed a few quizzes. Make use of your calendar and don't miss any assignments! Exams (lockdown) were difficult because stuff that wasn't on the review was included. The SPIN roleplay was weird but definitely helps in real life at a work setting.
This professor assigns quizzes and content at the most inconvenient times ever. Sometimes weekly work will drop on a Wednesday, and be due on a Monday. Even though it says asynchronous, she expects you to attend every live zoom meeting where she discusses important information. She acts like her class is the only one that exists. Do not take!
Amy seems like a wonderful professor, her lectures are clear and she does provide a layout that is not too difficult to follow. HOWEVER the amount of work she assigns is absolutely ridiculous. Be ready to have SEVERAL assignments due weekly, not quick and easy assignments either. Overwhelming and over the top. I am also a 4.0 student, just crazy.
Professor Novak is overall great, and the class as a whole is pretty easy, especially if taken online. The only downside to this class I can see is a massive reliance on the website Second Nature that uses an AI to grade around 1/2 of your entire semester. The site doesn't integrate with Canvas and is less productive than group projects.
Tries to control others beyond the bounds of her class. Several major updates to syllabus with NO notice. Inconsistent info between syllabus, announcements, discussions. 1 teacher + 2 TAs took DAYS to respond to questions. The overwhelming # of microassignments don't = quality, but do = burnout. Take Mark3337 at another college.
Professor Novak cares about her students and their success. You will be pushed out of your comfort zone with AI roleplays, but as long as you give a good effort, you will get a good grade. yes, you have weekly assignments but I have a full-time job taking this class online and I had no problem doing her assignments in time and still getting an A.
She posts modules late sometimes and takes forever to respond to emails. Heavy workload. Her syllabus says to email her if we can't submit assignments, and she will do her best to accommodate us, IT IS NOT TRUE. She does NOT take any late assignments no matter what. Offers extra credits, but not enough to make up pts that are missed
Professor Vandaveer-Novak is a really nice person, but you really need to put in work if you want to get an A. The majority of the points came from an AI roleplay that we had to complete. There were three tests this semester (webcam), but if you study you should be fine. I would study the night before and get B's, and I finished with an A-.
Professor Novak does an awesome job of simplifying an asynchronous course. The syllabus, assignments and weekly reminders make it easy to maintain a good grade in this class and all materials comes straight from the powerpoints. The group project is easy to navigate as well with the help of the TA's.
Professor Vandaveer runs a challenging but rewarding online class. The AI-powered assignments can be tricky, but Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for test prep. Manage your time well, and you'll do great.
She is a great professor! Even as an online class, her recordings were entertaining for each chapter and really helped you understand the material. Majority of your grade is from AI roleplay, but if you learn from the feedback, you will be fine. She also offers a lot of extra credit like attending the career fair. Exams are lockdown
DO NOT be fooled by the good reviews this professor piles on an insane amount of assignments every week its overwhelming and completely unnecessary. Instructions are vague and unclear, so you're stuck figuring it out alone. Don't expect help either she never replies most of all she is very rude. Avoid this professor she will be a nightmare to take.
Online lectures are short compared to other classes. Lots of extra credit opportunities - take them! Class is on a point system, so those points add up. AI Semester Roleplay Project isn't bad just something new which made me a bit nervous. Follow the calendar on Canvas instead of the weekly folders since due dates are kind of everywhere in folders.
Her lectures were engaging and the material is perfect if you're interested in sales. You will have to do AI role-plays but have unlimited attempts. The only downside is her exams. They're a bit tough, and the reviews don't help much.If you do good on the semester sales project assignments, you can ace the class. She also offers extra credit.
do not listen to the good reviews. She does way too much and gives so much assignments a week, like as if we don't have other classes. DONT take her. She also does not reply to emails and lowkey is rude to students when she put out the wrong material. don't recommend.
You will have to purchase a $35 AI software that honestly doesn't even work half the time.
I am passing her class- but she does NOT reply to emails or addresses any concerns. I am currently going through a medical condition with doctor excused and will be doing surgery and she expected me to still turn in my assignment on due date when I have an emergency medical condition. What a disappointment.
This professor is all over the place, does not have a clear grading criteria, leaves you wondering if something is due or not. She heavily relies on AI too!!! in the big 2025. You have to take this course as a business student but just try to keep up. To many assignments, to little time.
She provides reviews for exams, but do not even bother doing them because none of the material is on the test. She also relies heavily on AI.
This professor and class are easy overall. Everything is upfront, but a good part of your grade comes from the AI simulation, where you have to sell to another company. It is run by AI and graded by AI. If that is something you are not comfortable with, do not take this class. Honestly, tho it was really easy and not too much work.
Good professor and good person overall, personally have a hard time with online classes, no more than 2 hours of lecture a week with a AI simulation that isn't hard, only problem is it feels like test ask questions on the most minute details in lectures and feels like review don't help much.
If you don't pass with an A, you were not trying at all. This class is not only built for you to pass, it's also built for you to learn. I loved this class and even though I did not attend the optional live zoom classes, I know this professor cares about her material and students. 10/10.
Professor Vandaveer is amazing, and you can tell that she is passionate about what she is teaching. There are 3 lockdown browser exams, chapter quizzes, and an AI roleplay sales project. The sales project seemed scary at first but honestly was interesting and you can attempt it as many times for the best possible grade. Great class overall!
The whole mock sales thing takes forever and is lowkey hard. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time for it! She's so nice and responds very quick. I'm an athlete and she allowed me to take an exam later due to travel.
She is an amazing professor, I was just not a big fan of the content. The sales project was good and helpful at times, but it took time to get "good" at it. Her lectures are the perfect amount of time. I just found the tests to be difficult for such an "easy" concept? The content itself is really not difficult, but I feel as if the exams were.
