Great teacher, easy to understand, and very helpful. Would take her again!
Very easy class and she is very nice.
Her class is VERY easy. The test questions are straightforward and very fair. Makes class entertaining and provides great examples. A lot of fun!
Great class. I will definetly take her again if I can. Exams are very clear and straight forward. I definetly recomend her.
Great Teacher
Great professor! She covers the material clearly, using entertaining and easy-to-understand examples. Test questions are easy to understand and apply to the material covered in class. Recommended!
Very laid back and easy going in class. Test material was made easy to understand by her examples. I would definetly recommend her. She is even kind of cute, which makes me wish I had attended class more!!!
Very funny and keeps things interesting. Great teacher! =)
I enjoyed her class. She's a sweet lady and was very clear on what to study for the exam.
Very interesting class. Had a terrific time taking it, and learned a LOT! She is very helpful and goes out of her way to do what she can to help everyone succeed. I plan on taking every class with her that I can, and highly recommend her to everyone, regardless of major.
Great class, she makes class fun and interesting
Great class, great professor. She explains the material very well and gives great examples. She usually gives outlines for the chapters covered in class and gives sample questions to practice for her tests. Highly recommended!
I absolutely loved her class. She is the most interesting teacher I have ever had. Her class is so laid back and fun. Don't get the wrong impression though, you HAVE to study for her tests, as she is very familiar with her field and tests accordingly. Stongly recommended.
Good teacher and made the class enjoyable.
I have taken her for three BLAW classes. I loved everyone of them. You have to take good notes and understand the concepts behind the cases. She is very helpful in clarifying and making sure you understand. She uses good examples and relates the material to the students. She does not compare to the other BLAW teachers.
Great at explaining the material and giving case examples
great class. real easy if you read the text and take good notes (write down everything she says).
Great teacher! She's fun and is very easy to understand. If you take good notes you'll do well!
She's a very relaxed teacher in that she can explain the law and still keep it entertaining. There's also lots of bonus opportunities so try to come to class. Great teacher!
her class is one in a million...she is very unorganized so if that urks you do not take her...other than that she is a really good teacher...and she gives bonus like crazy so if you are in need of an easy class this is the one to take!
I loved this class, it was easy and when I did attend the lectures I actually learned some very interesting things. She's good cause she is a former lawyer and though she's all over the place she really knows what she's talking about.
She is completely unorganized. Oh,and she's started taking attendance so watch out! It cost me my A. Other then that she's a great teacher. Very funny, very nice.
She is a great teacher. She makes the class fun and interesting.
AWESOME TEACHER WITH INTERESTING LECTURES!!! I LOVE HER CLASS AND RECOMMEND TAKING HER AS A TEACHER...SHE IS SO SWEET AND DOWN TO EARTH! MY FAVE PART OF CLASS BESIDES HER GIVING US DAYS OFF SINCE WE WERE SO FAR AHEAD OF OTHER CLASSES ARE THE REAL CASES THAT HAVE GONE TO COURT. SOME OF THEM ARE SOOO STUPID THEY ARE FUNNY! THAT STUFF FASCINATES ME. O
Read the book. Test are pretty difficult if you try to remember things.
BLAW 280 is an easy class. When she gives you reading assignments you should read them for the tests. You also need to show up on the video days.
It's like being in middle school again, for better or for worst.
Awesome
Awesome teacher! Always makes class interesting. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND her class! Makes learning fun.
Pretty attractive! She is a scatter-brain, but knows her stuff. she teaches off the top of her head and can answer any questions u have. A Great Teacher! I managed an A without buying the book, but I don't recommend trying that. It is doable though
Amy is the best professor I have ever had the privledge of being taught by. I wish I could take her class every semester. If you want a deeply informative and fun class, schedule her before everyone else does.
great teacher!! she tells the best examples of cases to help explain what she is talking about. she is hilarious and a really sweet person. her tests are easy and you can get extra credit. take her!!
Really good teacher! Fun, interesting, funny stories about her kids! Just go to class, read the book (she'll tell you what to read)Good choice for a night class. Clear test questions.
Amy is a very perky woman. She's happy all the time. she does get off subject alot and talk about her kids, it's sweet and all, but sometimes you just want to get the work over with and get out (if youre taking a night class). The text book is a MUST and she gives over 60 bonus points, TAKE ADVANTAGE! She also gives bonus on every test. (Con)
(con) Her tests are alittle tricky. I wasnt able to do really good on those. The bonus is what saved me though. She does take a while to post grades. She gives excellent examples, so it would be best to sit up front with a recorder so you can get everything. But over all, she will put a smile on your face!!
I would have done much better in this class if I had bothered to show up. If I had actually gone to class, it would have been very, very easy. She's the best teacher I've had at LSUS so far. She tries to explain everything so it's understandable and seems to really care about her students. Love her!
Great teacher! Uses a lot of examples! She is very willing to help anyone! Gives great bonus!! Gets of subject a little, but not too bad, helps make things not so stressful.
One of the best looking professors at this school. Attendance not required, but just showing up and listening will help you get an easy A.
She is engaging, funny, and makes it easy to understand. I only got a C but that was my own fault for missing so much class toward the end of the semester.
Great teacher. She make's it very interesting and the class is over before you know it. It is not an easy class but if you come to class and study you will do well.
Great teacher! Love the class. Class was interesting and necessary to pass the test. The test were not easy but if you pay attention and study you can get an A.
I defintely recommend Mrs. Wren for BLAW 280. The class is never boring and very interesting because she gives great and humorous examples for everything. Her class is well organized and she teaches the material that will be on the test. If you attend class, study your notes, and take the online quizzes you will get a good grade.
Great professor
Great professor! Loved the class. Not hard and very interesting.
Attendance is not mandatory, however she does surprise us with bonus points. So, it's best to be there, plus you learn a lot and she makes the class really fun. Becuase this was an elective class, she was nice enough to let us create our own class structure, and we choose to take quizzes every Monday, OPEN book. Got a 96% in her class. THANKS Wren!
Amy Wren is the best teacher at LSUS. You do not have to go to class but I would recommend it her test come 100 percent from the notes. Her examples are so good that you can not forget them before the test. She is willing to help you with anything. Take notes read them 10 minutes before class get A
So far she is the most helpful professor I have had. She took time to help me make note cards out to study for my test. She is funny and keeps class interesting. Also, she gives a huge bonus chance that can help your grade out a lot.
One of the best professors I have had at LSUS. Loves her students and shows genuine interest in her classes. I would take her over again, most definitely!
I LOVE her class! She knows her material. Her class is never boring. She is intelligent and funny and really makes the class a lot of fun. All information for her tests come from class lectures so you need to show up for every class. Some days she gives extra bonus points so show up if you want those.
Her test were what she spoke in the lecture. she makes the class very interesting.
There's never a dull moment in her class, even when she's teaching material that isn't that interesting. She creates a relaxed classroom environment. At the beginning of the semester, she tells you not to ask for additional extra credit. I finished with an 88.1 and she bumped me up to an A she's merciful. She's sweet and dresses really cute, too!
I loved her class! She is a lawyer who always adds a hilarious story to any topic we learn about. Super sweet. I loved going to her class. The only drawback is she uses mind tap for the homework. You have to pay for it and the homework is pretty hard. Homework is every week and will come back to bite you if you don't do it. The tests arent too bad.
Dr. Wren is a great teacher interested and knowledgeable in her field, informative and fun. Her classroom atmosphere was relaxed and informal. I read the book and the weekly homework was no problem; tests were relatively easy and came mostly from lecture. Highly recommended.
As long as you show up and take notes, you're pretty much guaranteed to get an A. Textbook is really needed, all hw (online) is literally just reading the book and answering questions.
Great teacher. show up to class and take notes. you could get book but it's not completely necessary. she also gives links to powerpoints so you can take better notes at home. Find a friend if you miss class. Easy A if you put in some effort. She's hilarious and gives tons of extra credit. Also walks through tests with you.
She cares about her students and very inspirational. I learned so much from this class. The textbook choice was awesome. You have to read the entire chapter and cases to do well on the weekly test. At least the material and book was interesting. One of the best classes I have taken at LSUS.
She cares about her students but I think she could have been more clear on her expectations as far as the group project. The proctored exam was not hard if you read and really focused on understanding the case laws. I really enjoyed the class overall very interesting topic.
No teaching. Smartbook practice exams had questions that had no correct answer as stated by instructor. Smarbook is the same tool used to generate test questions. Too info and too much unused info on exams. No curves due to error questions/answers. Assig. changed frequently such as poster projects, presentation content, who to send to. Poor!
Dr. Wren is a national treasure. She genuinely cares about students and she is incredibly knowledgeable. She is always available and happy to help. (Pro tip: she likes lots of references on papers, and fun presentation templates (that are relevant your topic).)
She does not curve what so ever. It is not clear on exactly what she is looking for until she grade your work and you unable to correct it. The points for each assignment are not fair. I would avoid her if you are serious about passing the MBA program.
I walked into Labor and Employment Law scared of what is is to come. Well, yes, the class is difficult because there is a lot of law cases and terms that you have to know. One week it a very short time to compress two chapters with a abundance of knowledge to be prepared for a quiz on Saturday. Yes, it is do-able, but difficult.
Class was cancelled alot. Shes a good teacher i wouldnt take her again because i did not learn anything . you basically are going to learn from the homework. she gets off subject alot but has a great sense of humor and is very loving.
Clear grading criteria - 2 chapters/wk: 20pts/chapter review questions (even if you get some wrong, still full credit), and a tough quiz on the material. 1 PPT project, but she gives the grading rubric in advance so you know what to do. Answers e-mails quickly. Easy class compared to most others in MBA program. Bonus - she's funny & really cares!
She is a very caring person, but doesn't show up to class often. When she does show up to class she is distracted very easily and tends to resort to showing us stuff on the internet vs. actually teaching us.
Professor Wren is great. Lets students know in advance what's expected of them. Make sure you follow her directions/rubrics! Fair bit of reading with end-of-ch questions & weekly quizzes. Expect to devote about 30 hrs/wk. One major PowerPoint project. Learned a lot and highly recommend this class.
I dont like this Professor! This is my very last class at LSUS and I would say worst one! Not clear with grading, hard and non sens quizz, forced students to write Twitter posts. Avoid this Professor!
Rote memorization course based on endless reading. Some quiz questions misleading. Unable to view quiz after completing to review incorrect answers. Twitter account required in order to makeweekly posts .Same could be accomlished in Moodle. Teacher states she does this for her benefit, not the students. Arrogant lawyer speak with replies.
Since the recent change in book content the class is very hard to follow. The material she uses for the test are very confusing. She gave 208 pages to study in 6 days with a test on Saturday. You can not take a test on Sunday. A lot of grammar and misspelled words. The test does not reflect the content given. Shes not the worst but not best at LSUS
A lot of reading, but not the material is not difficult. Quizzes were challenging, but it could have been worse. The professor seemed passive aggressive in email responses and that was unnecessary. Doesn't monitor the forums as much as other professors. Twitter posts were easy, but I don't understand why they were incorporated into the course.
So, I had a lot of courses and lot of different Professors in my life, but this one is exceptionally bad. Both, course and Professor. Course should be interesting and useful, but she made it opposite. Non sense, overwhelmed, copy-pasted reading materials, unfriendly and rude professor, made this classes the most stressful in my life.
Reading intensive class, but with not a lot of common sense. 300 Pages of poor quality reading material per week.
I wouldnt recommend this professor. Not teaching at all, bunch of reading, tricky quizzes, arrogant communication.
This is one of the toughest classes I have taken so far. There is A LOT of reading to complete in a very short amount of time. The tests are not easy either. I do have to say I think the professor is a nice person b/c I asked her personally for study tips and she was very nice and encouraging. I would not take her again however.
I would not recommend her. No teaching, bad reading material, not clear with her requests...
Zero teaching. Nothing more than course administrator. Doesn't respond to questions for week(s). Copy Paste course material. Quality of this course is very very poor. Far and away the worst I've experienced at any level of education.
This is not university level classes or university lever teacher. Copy-paste, overwhelmed reading material, she doesnt care about students, no teaching. Absolutely lowest quality course and teacher ever.
Terrible course material. Slopped together redundant copy & pasted internet info. Person running this course hasn't been "connected" to students the whole semester. Exam questions are terribly worded & have multiple answers. The person running this course is so woefully unprepared. Can't stress enough to avoid this class with this individual.
Overall very poor quality course. No teaching, bad reading material, hard tests.
AVOID! Test are tricky enough without all the errors. Does not review the test to correct errors and does not give credit back for here errors. Tons of repetitive reading from copy and paste material she finds online (she doesn't even cite here courses and expects us to have perfect citation for the project).
I don't know what happened to her since I saw that she has some good reviews from students before. Obviously, this term she did wrong since a class is very bad, disorganized, poor reading, a bunch of mistakes on tests. I wouldnt recommend her at all.
Reading material for class cut & pasted together, & full of Grammatical errors. Readings are heavy with law references; no zoom sessions or PPTs to zero in on important points. Tests occur weekly & questions are also often riddled with errors with no opportunity for review or challenge. Prof is non-responsive to emails; seldom provides feedback.
See all previous postings regarding the disjointed reading material , test questions, etc. A more important matter-This professors attitude is downright a problem. Arrogance, condascension in communication to the class and lack of engagement. She should not be teaching and communication style would not hack it in the professional environment I am in
This is an elective class so she can be avoided. The learning material is hundreds of pages for one week. No clear purpose or reason for most chapters and questions on the test. Shes a lawyer that needs to stay a lawyer and get out of teaching. Its clear she is not happy by her emails. Very rude and unprofessional
This class was horrible. I was a 4.0 student before taking her. Not only that I didn't Learn anything. She gave us over 300 pages to try to comprehend basically word for word, but it was all pointless. This is supposed to be a law class but I've only learned 5 laws and the course ends next week. Whatever you do avoid this claas
Prof. Wren was obviously thrown for a loop with the change in textbooks. The materials were haphazardly thrown together, over 200 pages of reading a week - much of it just cut and paste from internet. The tests progressively got worse in terms of spelling, grammar, duplicate questions and answers. She would not release class avg or admit mistakes.
Most inconsiderate individual I've ever run across in academic career. Zero accountability with her. Released Module nearly a day late (fitting end to course). Doesnt review terribly worded exam questions (or anything she's done in course FTM). BTW We're not getting a zoom session (or anything else) from her. May as well have a robot run the course
A good no-nonsense professor who treats you like an adult who is expected to be smart and responsible since in the MBA program. I liked that.
This professor is horrible. No engagement and assigns way too much reading material. Avoid her
Its a decent class. the professor is okay. its soooooo much reading. to say we have a test every saturday. Just be prepared to read. The power point presentation was a mess. really wasnt enough instructions on how to do the project. i did passed the class but it was a struggle!!!!
Horrible
Mistakes all over test with no intent to correct grades due to errors. Horrible reading material, overall terrible teacher.
She is dynamic and knowledgeable about the material covered. She is a great professor because she challenges her students to work hard and learn. She welcomes different perspectives and questions. She showed great interest in students' understanding and success. Her class is challenging but it was all worth it and I strongly suggest this course.
Does not clearly define expectations. Test every week that commonly has errors.
horrible class
We were told we did not have to purchase a book. Instead, wed use a book authored by Wren. What we got was a mishmash of material from the internet in multiple fonts/size. Lucky us-she changed the relevant cases to purple. As a student & consumer it was atrocious. Its the equivalent of ordering seafood & receiving fish sticks. Poor quality course.
Used no review policy to hid behind awful worded incomplete questions. Hope this individual uses time between courses to review what they're presenting instead of leaving bogus positive reviews. This course administrator does not know how to communicate with adults. Administrator has no real world experience outside academia to give tips to others
This was the worst MBA professor of the program. It felt like a 100 level college course. All about memorization. Her test questions were written so poorly that I laughed out loud many times. The questions tested you on minor details of a lot of boring and whimsical reading. No lectures, hard to communicate with, and overall poor experience.
This course did not meet expectations. Cobbled material from blog posts, non-scholarly sources and no real insight/ input from the professor. More is required than a law degree to adequately convey course material. Students expressed dismay-met with proverbial shoulder shrugs and defensive posture. Still waiting on book composed for the course.
I took the Business Law 420 online during the Summer. This is a 4 week class. We read 3 chapters a week. The chapters are a little long, but interesting. You only had two homework assignments for each chapter, 16 questions per chapter. The homework was open book. No tests. Pretty easy class.
Shouldnt have been offered SPG AP2 given quality of it. Exams terribly worded and incomplete. Nothing reviewed from exams to copy paste internet article textbook. Never have witnessed one from academia so blatantly phone it in with zero accountability. Bad email comm with class. Only negative experience in MBA program. Just was really really bad.
she is so bad. makes many mistakes on test and does not correct for them. highly advise to not take her class
I am 1 class from graduating. She is the worst professor in the MBA program: Many grammatical and spelling errors in her text, e-mails, and tests. Test questions are unacceptable for an academic course. Mass communication is condescending. Modules opened late and makes excuses. Had 1 zoom session final week. Talked to us like we are 5 year-olds.
This professor is awful. Please stay clear of this class. Get ready to read, memorize and not get to review your tests. She doesnt permit for you to be able to see what you did wrong. Numerous errors and misspellings, condescending emails. No winners here. She doesnt care about you or her class, it is sort of the mill.
Terrible. Worst professor in the LSUS MBA program and I think Im qualified to say so as she was my last course. Avoid her.
Quality of material is low. Typos and lessons plans not available until Sunday or Monday. Most busy professionals in the mba program want to plan at least a week ahead.
The course is required for the human resources concentration but does not focus on how to comply with laws. The class is taught for law school students who need to memorize court cases. The course is also online but focuses on Louisiana law.
This class was very easy. The only work you had to do was show up to Professor Wren's lectures and do the homework assignments. Both of these tasks are easy because her lectures are not hard to follow, and the homework answers are on quizlet. The only problem I had were the tests. Those are what brought my grade down. But I passed with a B.
The tests that are given are riddled with spelling and grammatical errors. The zoom sessions are always cancelled, late, or time changed. Grading takes forever. Emails go un-responded to. I would strongly recommend taking another professor.
If you like reading & being tested weekly on material the size of short novels, then this class is for you. I've never witnessed a seasoned teacher who taught like an amateur. Material & tests are riddled with spelling & grammar errors that will not be corrected & no review policy makes it impossible to make a case. Course is very time consuming.
Great course. Straightforward. Must read the material. Weekly tests, no discussion, and 1 PowerPoint project. Received a B and I would take her again.
Test were pretty straight forward, it was the readings that was extensive(200+ pages each week). I also recommend that you start the project at the beginning of the term because it is due the 4th week in the term.
This program is text-book free, so teachers either provide a free text or provide their own material. Wren performs the latter and has info that does not flow or make sense at times. Same for many test ?'s. There's a mandatory group project worth 1/3 of your grade. If you're an A student don't take her, group project will kill your A. Bad grader...
100s of pgs reading each week riddled with errors. Does not communicate well and her tests are mostly a disconnect from the material covered. Ambiguous questions with multiple answers answers possible. You literally have to guess what question she is asking. Then sends quiz recap falsely noting questions were reviewed for accuracy. Avoid Amy Wren.
Most unprofessional teacher I have come across in all of my years. Very condescending. Completely unorganized. Readings are all repetitive and riddled with typos. Instead of testing on the concept, she tests on dates and settlement amounts which have no bearing to today's market. Terrible. Run, don't walk, away from this "teacher".
My advice to you is to avoid this woman at all costs. She seems like a nice person on Zoom, but the weekly readings she gives are insane (well over 20,000 words). Tests are meant to be tricky and readings are so repetitive, its ridiculous. She sends out weekly statistics regarding the tests and they seem to be inaccurate and made up. Avoid her.
Worst instructor I've had in this MBA program by far. Hundreds of pages of reading each week. Just read and take a weekly test that does not line up with the material. Little guidance on the group project and then tanks the grade which is worth 1/3 of overall grade. She does not instruct and is a poor example of how a graduate course should be run.
Mrs. Wren lacks professionalism. Her class is a joke and she has unrealistic goals. She cancelled multiple zoom sessions because she was ill and still expected students to take the exam. Her test are a joke and she provides feedback such as all questions were checked for accuracy etc... JUST DON'T TAKE HER! She teach with a JD and doesn't practice
Interesting class in which you will learn a lot about Labor and Employment Law. Theres a lot of weekly repetitive reading that needs to be retained to pass the test. Zoom sessions are helpful also. Overall, in this class you are treated like and expected to act in a manner of someone who is actually in an MBA Program. Start on group project ASAP.
Horrible teacher. Combines information randomly found on the internet, adds a few words of her own, and calls it notes. Test is full of situations and hypotheticals. Of course, she would call it critical thinking but it was ridiculous. Rubric for the huge group project was given on the last day of class which is stupid. Avoid her at all cost.
There is a lot of reading in this class. There is also a group project. She does weekly zoom meetings to go through the material. It was a tough class.
Do not take this Professor! By far the worst I have ever seen in my undergraduate and graduate career. Tons of grammatical errors on the exams which makes questions hard to read, no textbook; only links to websites, no response to emails, cancelled multiple zoom sessions, and project requirements are a joke and worth 1/3 of grade. Unprofessional!
LOVE THIS TEACHER VERY EASY TO MAKE AN A & SHE MAKES LEARNING FUN
Great class and professor. The material and concepts have helped me in my Human Resources position more than any other class. Yes, there is a lot to read each week, about 2 long chapters, but this is an MBA program. There are zoom sessions each week. Prof. Wren also promptly answered my emails and provided extensive help on my group project.
Professor is disorganized and reading materials are cut and pasted together in a "stream of concious" style of literature. She has difficulty with technical aspects of the class such as zoom recordings or communications about materials. Her email ettiquette is poor and usually has a disclaimer about spelling or grammar. Just messy.
Professor Wren is a joke. She doesn't teach or provide any instruction, the readings that she gives you are just sloppily copy pasted from various websites The "tests" she writes are so full of typos and errors it is shocking. I didn't find it to be particularly hard but it is an interesting subject and it would have been nice to have been taught
It is shocking how bad this woman is at her job. She seemed to be having some kind of mental breakdown or something because she is inaccessible, doesnt provide any consistency in what she teaches, and for the cost of this class the effort she put in was so little. I think she is getting away with people thinking she is a real attorney. avoid!!!
Terrible teacher all around. No PowerPoints just what chapters to read in the book. Tests are 20 questions which consist of t/f and multiple choice and are not very specific questions. She has 7 homework assignments worth 120 points and 3 test at 100 points. 300/420 are test point. Also has terrible communication skills. Dont recommend -10/10
Class consists of a ton of reading each week re: case law, weekly tests and a HUGE group project worth 30% of your grade. There are several smaller assignments with very short due dates, so you must stay on top of the calendar from day one. This is the only B I have gotten throughout the entire MBA program. Teacher is a flake and emails A LOT.
If you read the material you will do well. She doesn't want memorization but understanding of the material. She was knd and encouraging to me. Always answered my emails quickly and answered all my questions. Great Explanations. The tests are open book so that's cool.
There is a lot of reading but if you read the material you do well on tests. She want understanding not just memorization of the material. She was very nice to me. Always answered my emails quickly. She took time to explain in detail the things i didn't understand. The tests are open book so that's cool.
I loved Dr. Wrens Class. I think the bad reviews are because she actually expects you to read, learn, and apply the material. She gives fair open book tests , answered all my emails quickly and in great detail, and provided help for my group project. The project is intense but I learned a lot . Follow the rubric/instructions and youll do great.
This is the most disorganized class I have ever taken. The amount of reading is ridiculous and so is the massive group project. Worst class/professor of this entire program.
Professor Wren was one of the best professors in the program. These reviews do not do her any justice. Weekly zoom meetings, open book tests, and ample communication. She was one of the few professors that made the online program personable and I am honored to have had her!
Awesome professor!
Professor Wren makes learning fun and easy. With the help of resources like Unstuckstudy, getting an A is a breeze. Attendance is mandatory, but it's worth it for the engaging lectures.
