Give a lot of work and it just a intro class.

She is very smart and funny. she makes the class easier and interesting. Good Choice!!!1

Not really a bad course. Work load and things to meorize too much and just ridiculous for an intro course. Goddamn! But i did get an A+ though.Memorization is key. HEr handouts on material need to know really help.

This was a great. I would recommend this professor especially if you don't have an interest in the arts. She's clear and gives the appropriate work to help you pass. She's clear about her grading and rules but leaves room for circumstances so long as you talk to her. Great class & Professor.

I was scared of taking this class, because I heard bad things from other classmates.. but this professor made things easy, fun, and wanted her students to pass. .she gave extra credit and asked for us to do it.. and i got an A.. she will help you remember and memorize what youneed to know and memorize for the exams and finals.also makes index cards

For an intro to arts teacher, she can be tough. But I stuck it through the end, despite the hardwork and got an A. You just have to put more time into this class, so if you are taking stats..fuggeditt!! However, I did learn a lot and the index cards are VERY helpful. Also, be prepared to get called on.

Excellent professor. She really knows her stuff, makes the class fun and is very good at explaining things. She gives you a chance to make up your paper, and her exams are all from her notes. Prior to taking this class, I had 0 interest in art. She made me appreciate art. I highly recommend her. She's great.

This professor is great! She is an easy grader and is very clear. Just do the readings and know your vocabulary. Flashcards are very helpful. And go to the reviews, she goes over everything and tells you the essay topics. Easy A.

pay attention in lecture, she repeats and emphasizes important phrases multiple times. take notes all the time. for tests, make sure you memorize everything she said b/c she gives all the answers in lectures. papers might take all-nighters if you procrastinate. other than that, she is a sweet professor. just follow her directions. got an A+.

Like this teacher. Gives a lot of writing but informative and interesting. Straight forwad and FAIR grader-she'll really read your work so dont bs. Knows how to keep your attention-i took night class. Must study for exams. Can't say it's an easy class but she's a great teacher. Pay attention, study and pass.

She was amazing professor even if the class is a lot of work but she makes art very interesting. If you want to learn about art I highly recommend taking this class

Be prepared to eat, sleep, and breathe art. You will wake up in cold sweat uttering the name of the research project of your choice. If you come to school to sleep, don't take this professor. I am a science major and I wish my science professors had this much dedication. You will learn a ton in this class. Highly recommended.

Prof. Amy Young makes this a great class. Study for her daily quizzes so that you can understand her otherwise very clear lectures, which are entertaining because she is so passionate about art history. She is also determined to help you. She let's you rewrite papers, takes off very little credit for late papers, and gives extra credit assignments.

This teacher is very difficult. She packs way toooo much into one lecture so it's hard to keep up. For a 100 level class, it demands way too much of your time. If you have a heavy courseload already, this class is not the one to take. Her papers are difficult, there are quizzes everyday and there is too much material to study for the tests.

She is awesome! I love it so much I want to change my major to Art. Love this professor!

Young was a great professor. She was passionate about her work, and her lecture's where nice to sit through. She gave a quiz everyday, usually about 5 questions, based on the HW assignment. There is also a lot of writing, but she is an easy grader too. If you put in the work, you'll get an A.

The best professor I had at CCNY so far. Very nice and easy grader. I am a science major but she made me feel the history of art is interesting. For the paper, you will do fine as long as you follow her formats.

She is an amazing teacher and is very passionate about art. You must do all of the projects or she will deduct 20% extra from your grade. She will work with you to make sure you understand everything. Test are easy, you receive all the info you need they are just long. But you will find how interesting art really is with her. Attendance mandatory!

She is a great professor and very passionate about her work. she tends to be picky and give a lot of work but she is really open to help you out. you cannot be lazy in this class or you will fail. its a great learning experience and tests your time management skills because there is so much work.

I really admire her, she is passionate and humorous. The one downside of this class is that it's A LOT of work. Weekly long essays due and long lectures. She sends you out across the city for art. I will tell you she is helpful and very understanding. She doesn't penalize much. There's a presentation, quizzes and two easy finals. Just memorize it.

If you take this class, you are gonna have a bad time.

Most of these classes are taken by freshman, straight out of hs who complain about work load. She gives a concise grading system and she literally tells you what is going to be on the midterm and final. It's all about memorization. Yeah there are a couple of papers to write but cmon I'm a stem major and trust me sometimes you can use a little art.

Best teacher I've ever had, hands-down. There IS a lot of work, but she works with you so that if you put in the effort, you will get an A (she edits assignments and if you follow her feedback you get the points.) She's funny, clearly knows the material and loves it. You really do need to work for the class though but it's not hard--just a lot.

Young assigns few homework of short and long essays. There are quizzes in the beginning of each lecture, plus the midterm and the final. You can pass all if you take about a day to memorize definitions and etc. You will need to take good notes in class (I did audio + written). She is helpful & crystal clear with what she expects. Be organized.

Every class begins with a vocabulary quiz based off the textbook. She does give extra credit on exams. A lot of outside assignments (museum, galleries, neighborhood), one presentation. Lots of essays EVERYWHERE. She is very passionate but there is a lot of note-taking, I suggest recording classes. Loves to help, just ask. Makes art interesting!

Didn't enjoy the class at all; professor makes the class very difficult for no reason. I'm an engineering major & I spent most of my time working on assignments for her class. Overall, way too much writing. She only gives two tests, a midterm & a final, but she literally gives you all the information you need. Didn't enjoy her attitude/personality.

To begin with her class is a bit exhausting. It really consists of busy work, but she is fairly an easy grader and if you just do the work, you will pass. She seems hard, but she is really easy. If you do not turn something in, she will email and you and once you send it to her, you get full points. She is also really passionate about art history.

I had this professor for the Street Art & Graffiti class and she made it so fun !! However, you have to attend every class and give your work on time. She is one of the best.

She makes you do way too much work for this class. Has a quiz every day. All her paper/take home exams are based on the lectures so get ready to take the notes of your life. I deleted over 100 pictures off my phone of her lectures. Makes you go to museums and exhibits. If you're not an art major don't bother. It was really interesting but too much.

She gives daily vocab quizzes which are easy to study for but they are a pain. You have to take notes during her lectures which at times she can go a bit too fast. You need to go to several places to do assignments in which you need to write papers. Overall, you need to put a lot of effort and time to get a good grade in her class.

Great professor but makes you do a lot for an Art History class. Overall professor Young tells and shows you what she expects for her papers and there is only 2 tests (midterm & final).

It's more of a class for art majors. There's a lot of work for her class, but she explains everything thoroughly on how she wants her assignments to be submitted. Her lectures requires listening so you have to pay attention in class at all times. Daily vocab quizzes are simple but it can get annoying. The works are easy, but it's just so much.

Need to work 4 your grade. Gives very clear instructions, follow them. Expects u to follow her specific formats for papers. She assigns Met Scavenger Hunt, 1 formal analysis, public art paper & presentation, exhibition review, easy vocab quizzes, midterm & final (2 parts - take home & in class), 2 extra credit. She is a generous grader. TAKE NOTES!

The tests are easy. I studied for her midterm and final on the train ride to school, so you can totally pass if you study last min. She's an easy grader but gives out too many papers and unnecessary assignments. Out of all my classes I spent the most time doing her work. Don't take this class if you're looking for a chill liberal art.

Professor Young is extremely passionate about art. She focuses heavily on art 'speak' and art literacy. If you equate art with an easy A, this is not the class for you. There is a lot of reading and some assignments will take you to galleries, museums, and to the street, literally. She is crystal clear about expectations. Anyone can pass!

She's really amazing. Her grading criteria is very fair so if you slack off and do nothing, of course you will fail. Just take notes and pictures, study them, write well and you are good. She scares students at first but eventually it gets easier. So don't be scared. I learned a lot in this class.

I honestly enjoyed this class a lot. Her grading criteria is by far the best I've seen in CCNY. If you fail in final (which is VERY unlikely) then there are other things to back you up. If you take good notes (or maybe record her lecture in class) then you're golden. Just follow the directions and you'll get easy A.

One of the best professors by far at CCNY. She gives quizzes in every class, but they are easy. Knows the information well and explains it very clearly.

Professor Young's class was like long division; somewhat tedious yet really easy to understand. Did we have alot of assignments, including going to museums and galleries; Yes. However, the papers we wrote based on them were easy. Honestly, just record ALL her lectures and follow directions. It's an easy class and she's a fairy easy teacher.

specific about how she wants everything and clarifies it several times. perfect example of a college class, you need to work for your grade but its not brutal. midterm and final- 30% in class, 70% take home. daily quizzes-if you score full points on 70%, youll get the full grade. 1 visit to the MET, 2 visits to Public Art, 1 visit to art galleries

She is an excellent very passionate professor and you will learn a lot. She is a very tough grader and you MUST do all your homework and participate.. Make yourself known to her and be kind and respectful. If you do exactly what she does and willing to put time into it, you'll get the A+.

She tells you exactly what she wants and gives examples of how she wants it; take pictures of that. On regards to the daily quizzes; yes, it's a lot of memorization but she often uses the surrounding text so just search the word and read the section it's part of. Pretty straightforward class.

She is very clear about expectations and provides examples. She does her best to break up big projects and forces you to see art in the real world. Just don't fall asleep, come late or go on your phone. Tip: sit up front & participate, take pictures of slides, record lectures on your phone and use quizlet to study for daily quizzes!

she is very passionate about Art. You need to follow her instructions exactly to get a good grade on papers. She is not hard on deadlines. A lot of extra credits that will help you to get a good grade.

Prof. Young is extremely passionate about art & art history, great for the class. She is very meticulous about formatting for assignments but is very clear on what is being graded on. You'll need to travel to public areas occasionally, but should be an easy-A if everything is done right. She is willing to communicate should you have any problems.

Professor Amy is the best. The work is the hardest was from the hardest I have ever done. lots of pressure, and made us make mad work. She cares a lot only if you care and attend for her. She is tough grader but she has a lot of chances for you to get extra credit.

Just come to class, listen to her lectures, don't use your phone, and finish all assignments on time and you should be fine. There's a quiz every class, one in-class and one take-home. They're not that hard as long as you take notes. She reminds us of the papers 1.5 months before they're due so that's nice. Overall she's nice. Would recommend.

professor Amy Young gives daily assignments, but they're like less than 10 questions, her lectures are very interesting and fun to listen to, because she's very passionate about art, since she's a street artist herself. just focus, put enough effort, and if you're not interested in art, this class isn't for you.

You need to be attentive and make sure you're not on your phone. She will get upset about that and call you out for it. Attendance does matter since there are quizzes you need to take for your attendance and quiz grade (which is 60%). There was quite a bit of papers, but with the tools nowadays, not bad. Her emails come off a little aggressive...

Professor Young's class is challenging, but engaging if you're willing to commit. Attend lectures, complete homework, and use Unstuck study for study prep - it really helped me stay on top of the material. Overall, an interesting class if you're into art.

Your experience in this class is dependent on your working preferences. Professor Young teaches a front-loaded course curriculum with lots of work pushed in the first half of the semester that I personally adjusted nicely to. Do not take this class if you prefer a few big projects and no small assignments, this will NOT be the class for you.
