Don't skip class, pay attention in class, do the homework, and you'll learn spanish and get a good grade. Her teaching style is laid back, not a grind your face in the book type. I wish she spoke more english in the first 2 weeks of class I was lost!!!

Speaks several languages and is hot, makes you focus a good deal. Go to the language lab, read and do homework and study, you'll do fine. Very reasonable and good instructor. Doesn't make you feel bad, but encourages participation.

I wish she taught spanish 102 as well... She presented the material in a very easy to understand format and went at a nice manageable pace. Take this class with a friend though, and sit by them so you the group work is more fun.

SHe's a good teacher but i found her tests too easy and it' easy to slack off in her class. Overall she's great but she speaks too much english. However this class will prepare you for 102.

I loved her class. She actually wrote the textbook that we use during the course and she knows her subject well. She interacts very well with the students. She is great looking too!!!

She is okay, but I have heard that other professors might be easier. As a person she is nice, but I didn't like her superiority complex. She likes to boast about Spain a lot. Despite that, she is a nice person, but I didn't enjoy her class, and most the students in my class that didn't drop received C's.

I was so afraid to take Spanish I in the summer! Dr. Afzali made it fun and easy. Her tests were hard, but there were no surprises, and if you study, go to the lab and don't miss class you will be fine and you will learn Spanish too! She spoke a lot of Spanish and it helped. She is elegant and classy and I respect her a lot!

She has a great teaching style! She passes out a lot of worksheets with information and exercises--you'll always work in groups.It really helps you learn though.The HW assigned in the text seems to be harder than what you're actually tested on! Take her, she's good!

She is always available in her office to answer any questions or concerns and she makes sure that no one leaves the class with a question. She is a really good teacher, and her tests are the easiest in the department. she tells you exactly what is going to be on the exams, and she drops the lowest score... also you dont have to turn in your lab work to the Language LAB Nazzi's instead you keep it in your book and she quickly looks it over while your testing. TAKE her if you want an A.

This teacher rocks!!! plain and simple. She is smart, she is funny and she is organized I loved her course and I learned a lot. You do have to study BUT she truly makes you want to learn. I just took her Winter Intersession Spanish I class and I loved it! Professor Afzali is very friendly and well organized. I am also planning on taking her Spanish Civilization course on line in the Fall for my History requirement. I wish she taught more courses.

This instructor is smart, she is funny and she is very well organized. I was kinda afraid of taking her course, but she encouraged me a lot and I did great. I had a very good experience and I learned a lot. She even showed us how to play castanetts.

I took her Winter Intersession 101 class, and though it was work, it really was a fun class. She encourages you to ask questions and won't let you leave until she's explained it thoroughly. I wouldn't recommend taking her in an intercession unless you've taken Spanish in high school, because it moves super fast.

Great course. Dr. Afzali really made the class relevant to our lives and brought the readings to live!Her energy is contagious. I was majoring in business and now I want to be a Spanish teacher because of her. Loved her!

She is such a great teacher. She is extremely helpful, and explains things clearly. You are never in the dark about what is required. She gets everyone to participate. Her method of teaching really works. You do a lot of group work. Participation is a MUST! She doesn't embarass you at all if you aren't sure, she helps guide you to the right answer.

Excellent teacher. This class is challenging for first time spanish students. If you speak a little spanish you will be successful. I highly recommend her class. She is fair and the tests are relavent.

Great Professor. Ms. Afzali is very knowledgeable and makes the class go very fast. We don't get a chance to be bored and she teaches, in her native speakers course, a good balance of grammar, literature and culture. I felt fery much at ease in the class and I learned a lot. Prof. Afzali is what a professor should be - excited about the subjects she teaches and interested in transferring that to her students. I had her for both SPAN 101 in class and HIST 127 on-line. Both experiences were well worth my time. We need more educators who don't set themselves above and apart from their students. A great facilitator.

Her class is very fun you work in groups alot of the time. She gives you a packet full of useful information about the chapter. I took her in winter and I got a B in her class only because I do not like to study for tests.

I took the online class and it was much better than the in person class. She is very helpful. You answer questions in the A Reader about the book and the test are those questions. A research paper is due at the end of the class but is not hard to do. I learned a lot about spain and very interesting.

She is an extraordinary professor. She was very helpful when confuse about an assignment. Just be prepare to speak only Spanish. She doesn't accept any English in class. but other than that she is great I really enjoyed her class. it was always fun and I really do miss it.

Very interesting class. Professor is very understanding and willing to help you with any questions.A class is suitable for any race and level. Assignments aren't a lot, but have to remember the vocabularies. Final is relatively easy compare to the quiz. Just bring her chocolate and she will love you~ Plus she has a very sweet smile on her face.

My sister is taking a Spanish class at Mt. SAC. She is totally jealous of me. Prof Afzali video tapes her lectures and makes them available to us for review. They have saved my life so far. She is super passionate and dedicated. Don't get me wrong, this is not an easy class, but I am learning a lot and if you work hard you will too. She is awesome!

One oral presentation you have to do research on a topic but no research paper. You have to be up there for 15 minutes minimum. Not that bad her grading was fair. 4 tests very easy if you study. One paper on a topic. Gives a lot of time to do it and gives good feedback. Entire semester was on the oral presentations and two short stori

She's awesome!! You do a workbook and she lectures in class. 2 chapters per test. She's really good at lecturing and shows short videos of herself explaining the rules if a certain Spanish rule is tough. Truly amazing! Taking her again for Spanish!! :)

I took Spanish 211 online with Prof Afzali. What an amazing course! I improved my Spanish a lot. I did all the work from home and The Instructor replied really fast if I had questions. Her course was very creative and that made it super fun. I look forward to taking her Spanish 210 course next Summer.

I have taken two online courses with Afzali: Spanish 127 and Spanish 211, both of them online. I have to say she is excellent and super engaging. She really cares about students learning and she enjoys sharing personal experiences that are very relevant to the class. I am going to take Spanish 210 with her in the Fall. I just finished a study abroad program in Seville, Spain. Prof Afzali was our Lead Instructor. She is simply awesome! Not only did I love her classes (I took Spanish 101 and Spanish Life and Culture with her) but also she was happy to show us around and talk to us about the traditions of her native country, so yes, she is awesome as is Spain!

Im surprised in what the person who commented on Oct 17,2020 said. All the answers from the quizzes are on the book that is required for the class and she also gives study guides for each quiz regarding the class . If you try googling answers OBVIOUSLY they wont appear because the answers are in the book . Participation in discussions matters .

This was a super interesting class. It is very well organized. This instructor answers emails really fast. She knows her history really well. The canvas site was very easy to navigate and the expectations are clearly set. Her exams are fair. She provides study guide questions that are key to doing well in her exams so be sure you answer . Awesome.

We just finished a remote course. I was taking other classes with other instructors that were a mess. Her course was super well put together, her lectures were clear and she made sure we were all engaged during our zoom meetings. She gives study guides so you can prepare for exams. She had a lot of heart understanding we are all going through covid

She has you purchase the text book, and work book. It was A LOT considering it was only an 8 week course BUT I learned SO MUCH and has improved my spanish speaking and writing. She is a supportive teacher and it's an easy pass as long as you try your best!
