Completely unreachable by email. She also had typos in almost all of the coding assignments. Assignments would say type exactly this and there would be a typo that would take forever to figure out why it didn't work. Completely unacceptable for a course where typos aren't acceptable.

- Lab sessions aren't worth attending; slideshows are VERY short, and she's not even there. They're taught by a TA. Use zyBooks readings instead. - Don't bother Emailing her. She won't respond. She Uses Piazza instead for questions, but only TAs ever answer there. - Constantly has to shift HW due dates around because lessons are never on time.

Cs 112 was a mess online. it's all so disorganized and lectures are posted late. You need to buy Zybooks to do your hw and it'll probably teach you more than the professor.

The overall course was very disorganized. Communication was only through Piazza and even then it would only be a response from TAs. The prof posted lectures late and had to change due dates multiple times. Very slow at responding to emails. Learning through zyBooks and YT as lectures go over bare minimum. A lot of self-learning so be prepared.

A mess of a class. Assignments had nothing to do with lectures. As for the prof, she doesn't reply to emails, put off uploading content, and gave last-minute deadline changes. I learned more from 5-year-old blog posts than from her. I saw some comments about her accent but it doesn't affect her teaching at all.

This teacher can't start a zoom meeting. I think that this should give you an idea of how bad this teacher is. I cannot believe how she landed a job as a professor for computer science when she can barely understand a computer herself. Not to mention her horrible English grammar; I get that she isn't from America but please learn some English.

Very nice lady, but not a very good teacher. Talks super slowly and has a really thick accent that can be hard to understand. Exams were extremely difficult and had stuff we barely went over, as well as some typos/errors. The class average for the 2nd Midterm was around 40%, and she did not curve. Also takes several weeks to give back test scores.

This professor is a nice lady but is a really poor teacher. Her grammer on test and in homework is very poor and leads to ambigious answers. Her tests are hard and a lot of it has nothing to do with what she teaches in lectures. If you do bad on tests, you won't pass the class. I think she means well but is not a good teacher.

It takes months to get a single lab assignment back, and her midterm was awful. Lots of trick questions, when she reviewed a few select questions the answers she gave for them were for older versions of C we had not covered and did not work on current versions, and she only gave condescending half answers on piazza when people asked about others.

Extremely unprofessional. Hard to reach via email or Piazza (on Piazza she rarely posted and was condescending). Exams were full of one word differences to try to catch you off guard rather than test your actual knowledge. Ranted and yelled at students during lecture about the exams. Labs and projects were easy though despite lack of guidance.

The class itself is not difficult. Condescending on few occasions where students asked for explanations on certain questions and she provided responses among the lines of "this is basic knowledge" or "it's simple + doesn't require elaboration". Assignments were missing info at times. Tests contain textbook info not covered in lecture slides. STUDY!

Don't take her class. exams are extremely hard and outside of lecture notes, everything comes from a textbook which she doesn't cover in cls. Her lecture is very slow and it's hard to concentrate. Even though she upload the lecture recording but video quality is so bad and you have to listen to them 2x if you want to focus or you will fall asleep.

this is for CS100 btw not 112. For 80% of this class you'll be fine since it's just vocab and some minor equations. But when you get to the coding part if you're completely unfamiliar she will spend almost no time actually explaining or going over anything, and if you ask for help she'll just say go to the TA's and will disregard any criticism.

Took her class online a few semesters back and she ghosted the class all semester. Didn't post, didn't answer questions on Piazza, nothing. We still had projects and homework but the TA's carried so hard that semester.

For Fall 2023, she refused to share the average of the midterm because it was so LOW. She received complaints from many students, but nothing was done. I took her because rmp said she was easy and her exams are all mc. but oh god. She is absolutely awful. This is the second time i am taking her for this class because the other two professors were full. Her midterm and final are mc yes, but absolutely TERRIBLE, full of tricks, its like she wants students to fail. avoid like the plague.

Gonzalez is a nice lady who is willing to help during office hours, however, her exams are absolutely horrendous. They are all multiple choice and they are all structured in confusing ways as if to trick the students rather than test their knowledge. Also, the lectures often get bogged down by technical issues and various mistakes in example code.

I spent many days and hours studying but it was all for nothing. Her final exam was nothing like what we expected. Formatted so odd I would ask myself, who codes like this? She doesn't have an official study guide just some provided by her previous students. She's hard to understand and makes a lot of mistakes during lecture. Avoid her.

Gives tests that are needlessly tedious and complex for what is an *intro* to C course. The questions are built only to try to trip you up. I came to all the lectures and still felt underprepared. Doesn't give adequate study material for these tests either. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.

After taking the final I can say with full confidence that her final exam is the most bizzare thing I've seen in this department. I have a 100 on everything in the class, 93 on the midterm, yet still have no idea what that final was. Do not take.

I don't write reviews here, but for the love of the God GMU has to do something with her. It's a bad look having her around. Never had a class that doesn't set you up for success for the Exams if you attended class regularly, do all labs, and projects correctly, as well as review her course material. The labs and projects were good and straight forward the same for all sections. Final and Midterm are professor dependent, she included many tricks questions to the point that you start to think about your own existence. Not worth it, I mean if you like trick questions and want to challenge yourself go ahead, for others avoid at all costs.

Her exams made me have no hope in passing her class at all. I have done well on all other assignments but not on her exams due to the fact it is very hard. Her exams are too hard for a level 200 class. If you wanna pass this class, don't take her.

gmu keeps her for extra money, because most of her students have to retake. im transferring out, school doesnt care about you, keeping professors like her around. if u fail 262 with her, please take that as a sign to take it with someone else the second time around. as a student, i would never want anyone to experience this ever.

The thing that makes the exams so brutal is that the content is not that difficult if you have prepared but they are presented in such a way as to trip you up. On her exam she'll include questions with crazy formats that make you think "is this real?" All MCQ with the last two being D. Unknown, E. None of the above. Taking this professor puts you at an automatic disadvantage, and highly likely to fail compared to ANY other professor for this course. The quizzes, labs and projects aren't bad because they are mostly shared with the other courses, but her exams are impossible. Everything rides on the final and it was harsh. Taking this professor is an assured F.

If you want your hopes crushed swiftly, then this professor's for you. The course was easy due to a majority of assignments being the same between all professors, but the not the exams. This sections final earns the spot as the worst final I've ever seen, as it's filled to the brim with questions made to confuse you than applying your knowledge.

Ana Gonzalez Hernandez tricked us into submitting evaluations for extra credit before giving us the most awful final of my life. The question were nothing like what she taught. Insane and unfair and did not properly assess what we learned in the class. There are not enough words to express my anger and disappointment in her and in this final.

You know, i dont know what i did to deserve this. I have 98% averages on my 3 projects, 100% average on quizzes. I received a 70 on the midterm, final exam I got a 58. The professor does not know how to teach a class. Her lectures are completely impossible to follow and it feels like she is doing things on a whim. If you are transfer student or someone who has registered for 262 late, DO NOT take her section even if the other professors are full. Passing every project, lab, and quiz with 100% is not enough to pass if you fail the final exam. Every question on the exam is listed as A through E with E being "Answer is not listed above." I did all the assignments and did well on all of them. She changed an answer for her midterm after she already released grades and lowered peoples grades due to her mistake. Then she made the final VERY difficult, and she refused to curve. Which failed a lot of the class. Someone during the final also got up and ran away with the final. AVOID!!!

i took her for 262 3 times total, it was not by choice. every time i got stuck taking her and had no other choice. for my last attempt i was forced to take her cause she is all that is left. now im terminated from CS. i have passed cs 310, 330, 483 and much harder classes! my whole life, career gone all because of her. now idk what to do anymore.

Part 1: She is awful. I am a CS minor with a major in Chemistry. Spring 24 was my last semester before graduating. I have taken CS 112, 211, 310, 321, and 325. I have received all A's in these classes. I have been working as a UTA for 2 years. But let me tell you, Gonzales is THE WORST instructor I have ever had.

Part 2: She is a bad lecturer. There was not a single class, where she did not make a mistake coding something up, or explaining something. She has a big attitude when mistakes are addressed. She has no interest in cooperating with students. The projects and quizzes are easy because they are the same for all instructors.

Part3: But wait until you get to the midterm and final exams. I am not kidding when I say I have never seen something like that. Her final exam should be stored as an artifact, as it was literally meant to make students fail. I have received 100% on all projects and almost all labs. But I got a 57 on the final. I only passed this class by a hair.

Part 4: For the love of God, please take my review seriously. I am graduating with a 3.9 GPA and will attend Johns Hopkins for my PhD, so I can assure you I am not just a lazy student hating on her. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST. If you are registered for her class, please drop it and take it next semester with Andrea or Mughal.

All the good reviews are fake. No one can say this class is easy or that she is the best professor for any CS course. Her lectures are hard to keep up with, she has to have the students correct her (basically teaching the class for her), and her exams are impossible to pass. If you don't want to believe me, take her and see for yourself.

Reviewing her course material won't help, but maybe going to a casino will help better.

i studied for that final exam like for 5 weeks before it day and night. come to the exam, absolutely nothing like anything i studied. that exam was written in jibberish, you are better off guessing than actually analyzing the question. this school is too money hungry to get rid of her. spread the word about her to social media, thats the only way.

I took Andrea and my friend took Gonzalez. The difference in quality is absolutely wild! andrea prepared us for exams and gonzalez prepared my friend to fail. the 9 years ive known my friend ive never seen them cry or be suicidal, but ana gonzalez made them want to give up all. no one should ever go through this. especilaly if it means your career.

You all need to save time and money and avoid this professor at all cost. Youll thank all of us later when you see all her students suffering in those discord servers begging Allah and Christ for help.

Don't even bother picking gonzalez. She failed most people from her class last sem and this semester (fall 2023 and spring 2024). You better best believe shes gonna do for a 3-peat like shaq and kobe in fall 2024 and fail more students. Shes gonna do whateve it takes to 3 peat so beware and avoid.

Oh god, where to start? I thought i was finna make it out of 262 this semester! i never failed a class before! no amount of studying can help you prepare for her final. I prepared for at least 2 months before, and i even purchased an interactive C course online. I learned so much about C & made many cool programs. i still failed so see u next sem !

Part 1: This professor is the absolute worst professor I have ever hard. I have gone through many bad professors, I have never had one like her. Just to note I am not some lazy person I have 3.0+ GPA and took many difficult courses but this professor is awful for many reasons.

Part2: Her lectures are horrible. She always has technical difficulties in her lectures. She spends time talking about useless and small things in c that we dont need to know for the exams or projects for a long time through her thick accent. Hence why people skip. She frequently makes mistakes in her lectures that the students have to correct her.

Part 3: She is like a narcissist. She doesnt really accept any criticism for herself. She is quick to get angry when she doesnt like a question shes asked but we havent got to the real deal and thats her exams. Her exams is one of the most deceptive things I have ever seen. Her lectures, notes, projects, and labs are NOTHING like the exams.

Part 5: If you are still in her section drop out immediately and do what ever it takes to get into Mughal or Andreas section like your life depends on it. These reviews got more heart than her. She would gladly fail you with no remorse with a simile on her face. Her exams are like revelation sent by satan for you to fail.

Usually when most people fail the final professors tend to give a huge curve so that most of the class doesnt fail. Gonzalez on the other hand gives no curve and lets most of her class fail. DO NOT TAKE!!

I spent days and days preparing for her final like my life depends on it only to find out the exam was nothing what we have been taught. Theres no much you can do to prepare for her exams except pray and hope she has some mercy but she doesnt so you are cooked if you have her.

A person who has great coding skills in C and actually understands the concepts covered in class with bad guessing skills has like a 96% chance of failing. A person who has horrible coding skills and doesnt understand the concepts that well has like a 35% chance of failing. It's not about C, its about your gambling skills as said by someone else :)

Like someone else just said you are better off going to a casino than studying any of her materials. That might lowkey be the real study guide since you will learn to get through her tricks.

I took her class even though i saw the reviews since the other two prof were full. i told myself i will pass this class no matter how hard she makes it, i will do whatever it takes. i always believed in myself and have had past successes through really hard classes. however, this class is impossible. i dont trust myself anymore even to do well.

Currently in the midst of discussing these issues with my advisor and it seems nobody is doing anything about her this semester once again. its just a cycle every semester she screws everyone over and waste so much of their money and time. dont let her do that to you and take anyone else but her

As you can see from all reviews, this is a terrible professor. I managed to get a B, but it took a huge amount of time and a mentality of finding and resolving trick questions designed to fail you. I will never take another course with her even if she was the last prof at GMU. Do yourself a favor and skip her at all costs, otherwise you will suffer

Guys, please drop her class. I looked at patriotweb and there are still people registered for her class. If you are reading this and currently are registered to take her class PLEASE DROP IT. Please take these reviews seriously. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews, as they are either trolls, or paid actors. STAY AWAY, you have been warned.

i never had a professor that does so much for making the exams overly difficult to the extent that its not based on what we learned in class but does so less for preparing students for the exams. its almost like shes planning on failing a lot of students. what most people say about her is true including most of these reviews. avoid her.

There are only two options for C, but avoid her. The material on quizzes and projects doesn't match the tests, and the final determines your grade. It's frustrating that your overall progress isn't reflected. Save yourself the stress and choose the other professor. She will set you to fail, I think that's what makes her happy.

Frankly, she is not an effective professor. The five-star ratings are likely from other classes, as they do not reflect the experience in CS262. The material is poorly aligned with the curriculum and fails to prepare students for the midterm, despite a study guide. She should strive to inspire students and enhance course content.

She is hiding her name from registration. Do not take section 004 at (12:00-1:15) or section 005 (1:30-2:45). She was listed as professor for those sections sometime in May and probably still is the professor.

Please, just don't take her

it's a shame, I actually thought her lectures were good. The thing is, her exams are sadistic and soooo bizarre. You may know the material very well but fail miserably because of how the exams are written. After the midterm I left nothing to chance for the final, knew the material backwards and forwards, and still failed it. DO NOT TAKE.

Well, at least she will no longer be teaching 262. Her Fall 24 sections have been reassigned to another professor. That is the GOOD news. The BAD news is that she is teaching two other courses. Do not fall for that, she is still the worst professor you can find anywhere! Stay away.

I could explain how bad of a professor she was, but instead I will tell you that last semester, Spring of 2024, everyone in my section had the final exam disregarded by the dean due to how unfair of a test it was. Do not take a class with her under any circumstances.

Absolutely horrible! She is very condescending and not a good lecturer at all. Very stringent about timely submissions, she will give you a zero for an entire project if it is even 1 minute late. Avoid at all costs!

cant believe she made me get deported and lose student visa over a final that was in no form valid for a 262 exam

I had a really tough experience with this professor. The homework assignments don't match her lectures, and her exams are poorly phrased and confusing. She doesn't prioritize whether students understand the concepts through the homework. Instead she deducts marks for not solving problems exactly as she expects. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone

Similar all her reviews, her homework's and tests are most often very confusing and with frequent mistakes. Her homework are a major waste of time, focusing of making pretty graphs and pleasing her over than learning the fundamentals

Horrible experience taking this class. All the pdfs are trash, videos are intentionally hard to follow and understand. Unfair professor.

Her PDF lectures are quite superficial and rarely align with her exams. She takes months to provide answer keys to her TA, leaving students unclear about their grasp of the material. She grades harshly but frequently makes mistakes in her solution videos. She discourages questions and seems to enjoy being difficult—for reasons unclear.

The class was alright but things were graded so badly that the department head had to investigate the class and ensure people that things were being regraded. Since the professor and TA's messed up, my financial aid status was revoked. So now I have to submit an appeal. FUN! The class was not too bad. Lots of studying and the exams are tough.

Horrible professor Dean's office had to come in and regrade all of the assignments because of how harsh the grading is. Your left in the dark till the last day of the semester for homework grades final exam had 20 questions that didn't have the right answer choice available. Doesnt want you to learn just wants to punish you for her lack being human
