Excellent teacher.
She makes sure you understand everything and will spend as much time explaining things to a student as possible. She gives homework every night but it only takes on average half an hour.
Ana is a great teacher. She would stay after if you still don't understand.I loved going to that class even though it was a night class.
Ana is an awesome teacher! I hope she teaches at COC for a long time because I want to take her for all my math classes!! I reallly recommend for everyone to try her out!!
She made me learn to like math. She really explains the stuff well and takes her time until everybody gets it. Tests are really easy. I would love to have her for all my math classes!! Awesome teacher!!!
I have always despised math with a passion. was never good at it. when i took her class it was the ONE time i was actually able to understand and perform mathematic procedures. she is an amazing teacher. if you hate math or suck at it, take palmer.
Great instructor. Makes sure everyone in the class is understanding material before moving on.
Ana is great! can't wait to have her for 070
Taught math 070 in 5 week summer course and made it bearable.
she's awesome
she is sucha great teacher. i hated math befor and it is okay. she makes sure everyone gets it and she is really cool and down to earth..... i would take her for all my math classes if posible.
Shes a really good teacher because she explains everything and if you dont get domething she'll go back and explain it until you get it!
she is one of the best teachers i have ever had. she always explains things. makes sure you understand what you are doing. as long as you turn in your work and do good on the tests you are guaranteed an a. i reccomend her
There are not enough word to explain how wonderful she is. I am horrible at math...But thanks to Ana, I now appreciate math more. She literally walks you through each problem and is so clear that you can not not understand what she wants...shes GREATTTTT!!! you will not REGRET it. She is my number ONE choice...shes GREAT
I love this teacher, i took her last semester and let me tell you i hated math, but after taking her class i actually enjoy it now! She is very patient, helpful and really shows you shes cares. Just take notes, do homework and you'll be fine and i promise you whether you want to or not your going to walk out of her class knowing something. Shes ama
MS. PALMER IS AMAZING!!!!!! In High school I failed algebra C three times, I got a B in Palmers class. For some reason, she has the ability to get through to students, and she leaves nobody behind. If I could take her for the rest of my math life I would, but unfortuanly, she is sticking to 60, so anybody considering her, DON'T THINK TWICE.
She is the best teacher I have had. She really makes you understand the material, and she makes you love math.
Math is my worst subject, but Ana does everything she can to help you. She answers all questions quickly. Great teacher, highly recommend!!
Awesome teacher.
The best math teacher I've ever had. I hate math and she made me WANT to get an A. Very helpful. One of those teachers who comes to class for the students and not the money. Will do everything in her power to help you succeed and make sure you understand the material. She's also very nice. If you fail the class, it's no one's fault but yours.
Best math teacher ever. She is willing to help you when you need, she covers material very well and, she just loves teaching. Not hard to pass her class just do the homework and study for the tests and its a breeze. (Take advantage of her study packets the problems are exactly whats on the real test)
Ana is the Best! She is caring and dedicated professor who wants nothing less than to have her students understand and grasp the concepts that she teaches. I wld recommend everyone taking this course w/Ana. If you are not so good in math, take Ana's class because you will do great. She takes her time to explain step by step.
Wonderful teacher! Best I've ever had. If you don't like math, try and land a class with Ana Palmer; you'll look differently at the topic. Makes every thing crystal clear and understandable and not afraid to re-visit a topic to help a student explain.
Ana is a great teacher, I highly recomend her.
the best math teacher i have ever had! she truly cares about her students and is willing to help them understand the concepts. she goes over everything as many times as you need and makes sure everything is clear.
Ana is the best instructor I have ever had. She is really patient when it comes to teaching. If a student doesn't understand a concept, she makes sure that she is there to help them out. I highly recommend taking her class. She is really nice and laid back and doesn't much care what you do as long as you don't talk while she is teaching. Take Her!
Great teacher!! She is very serious but she is very helpful. She doesn't think any question you ask are dumb. My very first A in math. I have never understand what I was doing math I usually just replicate what I saw. She helps you to understand what you are doing and I think it is important because you can't continue math without a foundation.
She is the best teacher I have ever had! She makes everything so clear, and she is very understanding and will help you with anything. She encourages questions, and will not move on until you understand the material.
This is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. She is extremely patient and will make sure you understand what you are doing before a test. She assigns the right amount of work, enough where you have to stay on top of it, but enough so you actually learn it. I was hoping I could take her in the next class but she doesnt teach it.
she was great and very helpful if you take her you will understand the material.
Ana is the best! She is really a great teacher and if you do your homework, you will be ready for the quizes and tests!
Ana is the most helpful professor. You can tell she is passionate about what she does. I felt she was always accessible and wants all her students to succeed. She doesn't set you up to fail; she cares. I highly recommend her for Math 060 hybrid!!
Ana is the best math teacher I have EVER had. Coming from someone who has hated math & has done horrible in the subject, she is a MUST!! VERY helpful. Homework is a must because she goes over anything you dont understand, the following day in class. She made Math the easiest subject in my full time sched.WONDERFUL teacher!!!!
I took the hybrid class...LOVED IT! The book's author is the best ever - Elayn Martin-Gay. Certain teachers always jump over steps because they say "you should know this" but she shows you every step through the videos. Do the work you'll get an A. I got A's until the last 3 (of 16) on line quizzes I had difficulty on, and I got a B. I think Mrs. P
I have ALWAYS hated math, all that has changed in 4 short months. I took the hybrid online/lecture 059. I have learned more in 4 months than I did throughout 4 years of high school. Attend class, do the work and ask questions and you will do fine. Ana is AMAZING and the best math teacher I have EVER had. Helpful, knowledgable goes above & beyond!
Amazing teacher! Really has an interest in your learning and wants you to succeed.
Ana is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. She really goes out of here way to help students out. She is very clear when teaching and is fair on grading. She is also a very friendly person and is easy to communicate with.
I've taken a bunch of instructors at COC and Ana is one of my favorites for sure! Even though I am NOT a math person, I can appreciate her passion for the subject, makes the class almost bearable! If you're interested in learning take Ana.
I was on the verge of giving up on trig prior to taking Ana's class. I have failed twice before, but because Ana was so helpful and attentive towards her students, I was able to make it through. I definitely recommend this teacher!
Ana is very dedicated to the students and her job as a teacher. She will go out of her way to help out each individual in the classroom no matter how horribly tired she may be. Recommend her for all students that want to learn Math :)
Ana is the best teacher I've ever had throughout high school or college. She really cares about her students and wants them to do good. She has office hours every week and stays as long as the students need her to. Shes really understanding, and one of the nicests people I've ever met. Seriously take her if you get the chance.
Ana is the best math teacher you'll ever take. She genuinely cares about her students and their success in her class. She makes the course material easy to understand and she assigns a realistic amount of homework. Take advantage of her office hours because they will definitely help you. I can't say enough great things about Ana.
Ana is so helpfull. She is one of those teachers that are rare that actually wants her students to move forward. She is always there when you need help and i would recommend doing to Chapter Reviews prior to test she does like to take questions from there or the even numbers in homework.
Hands down the best math teacher I have ever taken in my life. She stayed until 9 pm twice a week after class just to help us. She's brilliant and extremely helpful. Highly highly recommend this teacher. She treated us as if we were her own children. She is a genuine sweetheart.
Ana is a great teacher and loves what she does. She stays after to help you out and makes herself available whenever she has free time. Attend office hours - you wont regret it. Highly recommend her!
Ana is the reason why I switched my major to mathematics. She is the best professor I have ever had.
Ana's math class was the very first math class I took at College of the Canyons. Her lectures were very easy to follow and she has the class involved to the fullest. She is very helpful and you can clearly tell that she is passionate about helping her students succeed!
She's very helpful and such a great teacher. Super nice. Easy to understand. If you do the work you will pass. Not too much work.
Hands down Ana is the BEST!! If u have a chance, take her! I'm not good at math and was scared to take the hybrid course but after reading reviews I did and I do not regret it at all. She is beyond helpful. You have many chances to do assignments to better grade. She is very concerned with students and helping them and getting them to understand.
Lets start by saying math is not a fun subject but professor Palmer is truly an amazing instructor. She is willing to help anyone out and sets clear expectation from the begging of the class. It is a lot of challenging work that includes hours of homework and test but as long as you stay on top of the work you'll do good.
Professor Palmer is by far the best math teacher I have ever had in my education. Taking her hybrid class was such a great experience and she was very helpful in any questions you had. NEVER made you feel stupid and always prepped you for the exams. I recommend her to EVERY student! :)
Super nice, helpful, if you hate math she's right for you. She teaches in a way that you understand. Do the work pass with a high grade.
Ana is a great teacher! I was scared of taking a math course that was partially online because I wasn't sure if my questions would be addressed. But, rest assured she made the class very easy and she was very helpful. She is a very nice teacher that goes out of her way to make sure her students understand and pass her class.
Awesome professor wow. Really tough though. She moves fast but makes sure everyone is on board before moving on. She squeezes so much information in its amazing.
Prof. Palmer is an AMAZING teacher! She explains the material very clearly in more than one way, and she does what she can to make sure students understand what she is teaching. She covers the types of the questions students can expect on tests and gives everyone the opportunity to ask questions about homework. Take her if you can!
Professor Palmer is THE BEST! I took her hybrid summer 2015 class and I actually got what she taught! Mind you, I HATE math. Anyway, do all the hw online, theres 3 test online, and 4 test on-campus. The final is worth 2 test scores so if you do bad it can help your grade. Make sure to do the online test, they serve as a guide to the on campus test
Take ANA, You surely will not regret it. She's very patient and passionate. She makes Math interesting and it helps her personality is awesome. She's beyond helpful and not to mention, she's not hard on the eyes. She exudes confidence and she's super down to Earth. If you hate Math, take Ana!
Very knowledgeable, and helpful math professor. Highly recommended.
Amazing teacher overall. She is very lenient and kind. She also responds to your emails promptly. She thoroughly explains the course work and teaches very well. I definitely recommend taking her!
Professor Palmer is the best teacher I have ever had. She works with students to ensure they understand the material. She is also flexible and accommodating when it comes to tests. The online class might sound scary, but it is a very good program and very understandable. It is hard to fail her class! I highly recommend her!
Ana is an amazing professor, however when I signed up for this class I thought it was lecture one day a week and the rest online. That was not the case completely online math class If you need somebody to teach you face to face this class is not for you! Overall she is a good teacher I would take again if it wasn't online.
Ana was the sweetest and most genuine professor I have ever had. You can tell that she really enjoys her job and she will do everything she can to make it enjoyable (yes, even for math). She makes complete study outlines for every chapter and covers them efficiently in every lecture. She's respectful to every student and I'm glad I took her class.
She assigns a good amount of work, but she is always available to help. She shows tricks and preps you well.
This was my first time taking a hybrid class and also my first time enjoying taking a math class. She makes it so easy to understand and follow. She makes sure you have every opportunity to get an A in the class. You will have to do all of the homework but it's underwhelming and helps you pass the tests. awesome teacher!!!
By far the best math professor I have ever had. I recommend everyone ad anyone take her! Great lectures, helpful, kind and considerate. Pretty easy grader.
Best math teacher at COC, specifically for Statistics. She truly wants students to succeed. She will be there for you if you do not understand the material, but must ask for help if you need it. She will clarify anything for you. Her tests have no surprises. You will know what problems will be on the test. Recommend her 100% to everyone.
Ana is such a fantastic teacher. Math was fun working with her, and her lectures make sense of a vast amount of technical information that is so unlike the lower division prep courses that you take to prepare for this course. I absolutely recommend her for anyone who needs to take stats.
Best math teacher I've ever had. She is really there for her students and makes you feel comfortable asking questions. Statistics is tough but Ana's lectures and notes were very clear and helpful. Only math class I've done well in. Completing homework is essential to success, along with studying everyday. Would take again.
She is the best teacher I have ever had! She is patient and willing to help. She isn't a push over and will make you work for the grade, but is fair. She will give you 100 percent if you put in 100 percent.
If you're not good at math forget taking online you will stay behind. Does not provide step by step instructions and when you ask, she says you should've learned it in the prior math level. She is helpful to certain extent and replies to your emails right away. She's a good professor if you know the topic otherwise you will be lost.
never struggled so much in math in my life. lectures are just solving questions w/o explaining/ helping students learn. teaches concepts that aren't even in trig and is constantly salty towards students. offers office hours but don't waste your time. tests are excruciatingly hard. only took her because of + reviews but for trig AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Homework is not mandatory or graded, but it's beneficial for your pop quizzes. I spent no time studying or doing the homework and received a B. This class is not easy so reading the textbook and understanding the concepts of each chapter is important. Oh, and the tests are always harder than the homework. Make sure you study, you'll thank yourself.
Professor Palmer is a professional, sweet, and competent instructor. Her lectures clearly guide you through new concepts. If you practice at home(doing homework) you'll do fine on quizzes and test.
She is a good teacher that obviously cares however the hybrid class was incredibly difficult and I would not do it again. Test questions were not even seen nor were they practiced on the pearson online software. She is a very fair grader meaning if you show all of your work and miss one step you will still receive partial credit on the test.
Professor Palmer is an extremely nice and helpful teacher. I am extremely bad at math and still almost got a B. The hybrid class was fine, we had lectures online every week where she was very helpful in answering questions and explaining things clearly. She also goes over any questions you may have before each test except the final.
Awesome professor!!! Irregardless of the instructor, this subject is just naturally challenging no matter who you take it with. Statistics is not your usual math class. But Ms. Palmer did her best to help you understand using different teaching tools. If you take good notes and do the assigned homework (which was quite a lot), you'll do just fine.
I had Palmer for math140. I personally thought her class was REALLY easy. Just pay attention in class, try to understand the video notes before class and ask questions if you dont understand something. Never had to use the book once. She cares about attendance. Easy A in my opinion
I had a "hybrid" math 70 course this past fall semes. You only go into class for the orientation & taking tests. Lectures are all live & online 1x a wk. Online courses take way more time & remember, it's a 5 unit course. Sit in class for live lectures, go to her office hours, & get tutoring done at the TLC. I didn't & I withdrew. IT WAS SO HARD!
She is really great at explaining things. I truly think as long as you pay attention and do what she asks, you will pass
Lots of online lecture notes, lots of online quizzes that aren't too hard, and 1 group project(10% of grade). Her grading criteria is very exam heavy, (4 Exams - 50% of your grade, Final Exam-15%)Go to class, get her handouts, put in a little effort and study an hour or two a day a week before exams and you'll have no problem passing this course.
Professor Palmer was a great calculus instructor! She used power points to explain the proof of the topic but goes through examples. She goes very slowly and makes sure everyone understands. Ask questions! She will also repeat anything and truly wants you to learn the material. Exams were difficult, but doing the homework is a great review!
I went into HYBRID PAL060&070 not knowing what to expect at all. I had nearly failed every math class I took up until I decided to take her class. That being said, I passed 060 with a B and 070 with an A. Professor Palmer changed the way I feel about math, I ACTUALLY love it now. She is patient, caring, and is great at explaining any concept.
Palmer was tough but she tells you what you need to do. If you practice problems consistently and meet her in office hours, you'll get an A. She focuses a lot on the concept of each topic which can become hard to understand w her pwrpnts. Exams were difficult. She also gives review questions which help a lot w exams if you understand them
She gives out lots of homework; which is only 10% of your grade. Online test are easy but then again there only 15% of your grade. She is very test heavy! The test themselves are 50% of your grade; which means you better get 70% or higher on each on each them to pass the class. I wouldn't recommend this professor! Good luck if you do.
Dr. Palmer completely changed my outlook on math! She CARES, she WANTS you to do well & is MORE THAN FAIR! Trust her. If you just do the work you will get an A. Attend every office hour/seminar b/c she PREPS you for the tests. Can't believe people didn't show up! Again, trust her. I so wish she taught ALL the math classes at COC! HUGE fan.
Such a bad professor no extra credits if youre a little late in homework she gives you zero points and hard greater so if you want to pass this class and youre not great at math then her class is not for you!!!
This class was by far the worst class I have ever taken at COC. The entire 2.5 hours of class is spent solely on the lecture which is very broad with relatively easy examples. For homework, she assigns on average 80 problems from the textbook, most of which not resembling what we learned. The class average on exams was a D. Half the class dropped.
Horrible class. She just rushes through the examples in the notes without explaining a single thing of what she is doing. She assigns huge swathes of problems from the book for homework, many of which are conceptually different from the examples in the notes and can take 20 hours to do. Class average on exams is a mid D. Most students dropped.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! She doesn't know how to prepare you for her exams. She does the easiest examples during the lecture without explaining anything and then sends you home to do a crap ton of problems from the textbook that she doesn't collect. Most of the class bombed the tests averaging around 60 something percent. Half of the class dropped
do not take her!! she likes to fail her students because of little mistakes on final
Don't take Calc with her! Your grade is based on impossible exams. She doesn't even go over the exams in class. You have to go meet her during office hours to see your exam. The first and only time I went to office hours was right after the exam and it was impossible to ask her questions because there were so many kids. I strongly DO NOT recommend.
Such a bad teacher. Throughout the course, she hinted that she would round up your grade if you were close, though she refused to ever give extra details on what qualified as being close. I ended the class at about 79 percent and she didn't round it. Additionally, she removed the thing on canvas that shows us our exact grade. I had to use Roger Hub
Quite caring and teaches you all about calculus. This math class was favorite part of my day despite the challenge. Homework doable and if you are not afraid of hard work it preps you for exams. Kids who posted bad reviews here had no clue. IDK why they were in this class. Do the homework, pay attention, work hard if you want to get a good grade.
Save your self and do not take this professor. She lectures for the full 2.5 hours and gives around 80 questions of "optional" homework. The tests make up about 60% of your grade and they're very difficult. She will mark you off 4 points for not putting a negative sign. The final replaces your lowest test score, but definitely don't rely on it.
Terrible professor. She would constantly praise us for doing good on the exams, but when you'd check the class averages you'd see it was always around 64%. Her tests are extremely difficult, and she has a lot of pop quizzes. Her lectures are really long and pretty useless. The information barely correlates with the questions on the tests.
Great lecturer; you can tell she knows her stuff. Homework was optional, but problems show up on exams. Exams were pretty hard so class averages are low, but if you study hard and go to office hours you should be able to pass. She's strict and tough, but a solid choice if you want to learn. Don't take her if you just want an easy grade.
She is a really good professor. Tests are very challenging but if you work hard, do all your homework, and ask questions, you can succeed. Do not skip classes. If you hate math and have no basics, if you are not ready to work hard then don't take this professor.
Dr. Palmer is one caring professor who can prepare you for future math classes. I admire how she coped with some of the whiny kids who had no clue, they vented and tried to ruin the class for everyone else who was not afraid of putting in the hard work.
She doesnt do much to actually teach and her the manner of how she weighs your grade is awful . It was an "100% online class" however she requires you to take in person exams at the TLC which are 50% of your grade. If your looking for a class that will allow you the freedom to work a job this is not it.
Too much homework that doesn't really change or boost your grade that much. Tests are extremely hard, some problems aren't even what you review in lecture or homework. Unfair and unwilling to help students. She thinks she is always right. I don't know why she is rated so high.
Her online class is horrible. Instead of teaching the course, we learn off Pearson website. Which is essentially out of date videos that are very basic and don't really help with work/ tests. Please don't take her, if you actually want to learn and get something out of ALL the effort you need to put in.
This was by far the worst professor Ive ever had. Im an A student who is very hardworking. This professor changed my A grade on an exam to a D for the most ridiculous things. I have extreme anxiety and she had no sympathies whatsoever. When I tried to explain myself about the unfair grade, she was unwilling to fix the issue. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!
This is the most inconsistent professor I've ever taken. She is constantly adding assignments and tests due at random times and days. When she adds things, many of them are only available a few hours (10am-8pm). No posted schedule, no advanced notice, and no consistency. It shows how little she cares for those of us who work. Take anyone else.
If you look closely at some of Palmer's reviews, you'll realize that she writes some of them. She was such a bad teacher. She did a horrible job of preparing students for the exams and she assigned such an unreasonable amount of HW. I did all of the insame amount of hw she assigned just to see barely any of it on exams. Take Hubbard instead.
I would encourage everyone to choose Mrs. Palmer, she is the best instructor which I have seen in my entire educational period.
I love Professor Palmer. Her exams were challenging but you will be prepared as long as show up and participate. She made math a lot less scary lol. I took her during the pandemic and again the following semester. I would take her for every math class if I could
Professor Palmer is a really sweet person, as a teacher she is really tough. There is very little margin for error in this class. However, if you reach out to her for feedback on exams and do ALOT of studying on your own, you should be good. She means well, but this professor isn't for everyone. Only take her if youre prepared to work for the pass.
Professor Palmer is very caring and prepares students for future math classes. She would always make office hours convenient for all of the students and would always spend time after class to ensure I understood the concepts, which was a night time class. Taking her class may be difficult, as most math is, but you will come out as a better student.
Her way of teaching math 104 was difficult and hard to comprehend. But then again, this was an online live class.
Dr. Palmer is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. She thoroughly covers every topic and ensures everyone understands what she taught before moving on. She is very considerate and will always make herself available if you ever need extra help. I would definitely take her again if I could!
you can tell she writes her own reviews on here lmao just stay away warning you
avoid her, avoid her, AVOID HER!! Im warning you do not take her class unless necessary, literally one of the WORST teachers I have taken. Also beware of the reviews, she writing them herself.. laughable actually.
Obviously it is known that she writes her own reviews, as a freshmen in college it was a very difficult class. She is very sweet and is very willing to help you understand, but the workload so very intense. There is 20+ assignments each week and the video notes alone are 2+ hours
Professor Palmer is quite demanding, but if you put in the work, you can succeed. Attend every class, use the textbook, and try unstuckstudy for extra math support. It's a tough class, but worth it if you're willing to really engage.
I don't even write rate my professor reviews it's just so obvious she writes her own for the class in order to get people to enroll.
She really went out of her way to help me when I fell behind in class. These short term classes are intense and they really require you to stay on top of the scheduled work. She's a great instructor
This was one of the hardest classes I've taken. The homework did match the tests, but the grading was very tough and it felt like you had to teach yourself most of the material. I struggled even though I kept up with assignments. Definitely not an easy A or B. Wouldn't take again unless you are very strong in math.
I took a 16-week, online course with this instructor. I felt like she was pretty hands-off-- I basically taught myself everything. I did massively screw up all of my data for a project, resulting in a 20% grade, and she gave me at least half of the points back just because I showed up to a Zoom meeting with her to talk about it.
She was a good teacher and her homework was pretty easy. All her exams were honorlocked, but overall pretty easy class if you do the work and stay on top of it. But you sorta have to teach yourself some things
Honestly, the workload absolutely sucked. She was never available for tutoring before 7 pm, which was really difficult for me. The lectures were hour-long videos and consisted of about 16 pages of notes. I honestly wish I had never taken this class. It had given me so much stress that I genuinely felt like giving up was my best option.
Class was rather bloated with tons of lecture videos and assignments and exams were honor locked. You'll probably have to teach yourself outside the class. Although Ana is quite a nice person and will lend a ear if anything happens.
