Excellent Teacher, show up and pay attention. Easy A if you complete all the work.
She is a really good teacher. Lots of extra credit and if you do the homework you will get a good grade. Many of the test's questions come from the practice tests. She explains clearly and is very helpful if you dont understand. The only way you do not get an A is if you dont do the homework or practice tests!
She is a very good teacher, she goes fast, but she explains every thing, very very clear! if you want to do a speed class, I recommend you take this teacher. if you do your hw and the practice tests, then you will pass the tests, lots of questions on the tests comes from the practice test. very good teacher.
She does all her work at a fast paste. So if you arent that type of person who can pick up quick, than i suggest you not to take this class at all. But if you do pick up quick, just like me, than you will do just fine. She goes through the process with giving great examples. If you dont get a problem, she is always willing to go over the problem.
She is an excellent teacher! if you are bad at math, she can go over it very good. she is very fast paste teacher, so if you dont like learning very fast, then dont take her, but if your up for the challenge then go ahead. she will go over a problem if you dont understand and she loves to help her students. very awesome teacher!!
GREAT TEACHER!! EXTREMELY HELPFUL. SHE IS USUALLY IN HER OFFICE AT 6:45 EAGERLY WAITING TO HELP STUDENTS!! IF SHE SEE YOU ARE TRYINH TO WORK HARD SHE WELL HELP YOU OUT!! I took the combo course MAT 1033 and MAC 1105.This teacher is very good.If someone rates her bad thats only bc they have bad math skills.If you are good in math Take the combo class.If you are not good in math then you DO NOT NEED TO TAKE HER BC IT IS A VERY FAST CLASS. YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO COMPLETE MANDATORY HOMEWORK EVERYNIGHT.
She is very nice and always willing to help.Help is 6ish AM. I took her for the combp class.VERY HARD! Most students had a hard time. If you are good in math then take it! If not then don't. WORSE math teacher! Puts stuff on her test that she doesn't teach in class. Rushes thru teaching lectures to put you into groups to teach each other. DO NOT take if you are bad at math.
She is a great teacher dunmy you are the only one say bad thing about her she is really helpfull and she also let you use calculator n her test
Professor Porro is a great person and a great teacher. You can earn an A but you need to work hard. Do the homework, go to class, pay attention, and love math. She is always willing to help, but her teaching style is not for everybody. Group activities are a waste of time.
I suck at math, but with Porro math was easy and understandable. She def cares about the student.

She loves her job and is a very nice person, her teaching style just was not for me. She does a lot of group work and sometimes it helps. If you take her and your not very good at math or do not have the time to do homework every night M-W do not take the 6 week course.
She really helps you understand and teaches you critical thinking. I was complacent with a C but i ended but with a B, and I am horrible at math!
I took prof. Porro as a combo class as MAT 1033 and MAC 1105. Both classes I passed with an A. But seriously she is no joke when it comes to doing homework on time. I had math everyday and it was very stressful. With Prof Porro you have to DO ALL THE WORK SHE PROVIDES! Practice Tests on MathXL helped ALOT! If you do all your work you can pass! =)
I'm not one to talk badly about anyone but just a heads up. She teaches everything from the book, hates questions, talk low to students. You are better off with a math lab honestly. If you can teach yourself you can pass.
She teaches right from the text. If your comfortable with one way, F.O.I.L for example, she makes you use another method. You MUST do homeowrk on time and keep it in a binder that she grades. I took her combo class and she treated it like it was highschool. I do NOT reccomened this professor if you have a job,children or other classes.

She speaks english but it is very hard to actually understand what she is saying, she teaches way to fast and definetely alot of homework.
This professor can be hard, but as long as you go to class and actually do your hw she is the best teacher ever! If you don't want to be in school- don't go. many in the class were lazy and complained but all she was doing was her job.
Prof. Porro is, by far, THE WORST math teacher I have ever had. Save your money! I took her thinking that she would be helpful, considering it was a prep class but I was so wrong. She doesn't like to answer questions or explain things twice. She calls her students (me) slow and is rude to everyone who isn't good at math. I withdrew from her class.
This lady was ridiculous. She was a very bad teacher and does not make any sense. I dropped the class and tested out of it. I would not recommend any one to take her. She makes you do stupid group exercises that don't help and her test are crap. Save your time and money

This professor is the WORST of the WORST!! I have NEVER been in a class where everyone in the class test grades keep going down no one improves. 1 out of 25 passes the test. She is rude, willing to bring you down, doesnt care about you understanding or not... i have seen and heard numerous students go to the school Dean about her! NEVER AGAIN!!!
She's incredibly nice, but very hard. if you're not supre good at math DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!!! Over half of my class failed. She's sweet, but it makes you wonder why she's still a professor.
She's not a horrible teacher. Students are in college so in order to pass you have to follow her rules just like any other class. There's alot of homework but if you do it you will pass the test, hence the fact she assigns all the homework. She's very nie and the class is not boring. If you put in the effort you will get the grade you deserve.
Ms. Porro is very helpful to her students as long as you prove that you are trying hard to pass.
She is a very good professor. As long as you show her that you are trying snd doing your homework, there is nothing to worry about. If you see something negative about her, mostly is it because many students are frustrated with math; however its not HER fold, so do not get confused and do not blame it on her.
I always used to be bad at math getting Cs or lower. But taking her class I receive As and Bs on quizzes (except one which was because i did not study :( ) She explains everything and as long as you have questions and take the class seriously she tries to help as much as possible. If you screw around it would be hard for you to be on her good side.

Although she is a sweet lady and is very positive to people that are interested in the class her teaching sucks ! because it doesn't match my learning style make sure before you take her you ask her questions on her gradings and rate for survey of calculus or else you are in straight boooboo . BEST OF LUCK
dON'T DO IT. If your bad at math like I am, consider other choices. Tests are hard and she can be slick sometimes. She even said herself she has a low passing grade.
Not too crazy about this teacher, shes a little too fast and un organized.
DO NOT TAKE HER EVEN IF SHE IS THE LAST PROFESSOR! She's extremely slick. Her teaching isn't good at all, she doesn't explain the work thoroughly. If she sees you leave a couple minutes early, she'll take attendance before dismissing her class and mark you absent. If you're bad at math like I am, do not take her. Seriously, she's bad you guys!!!!
She is a very good professor. If you didnt catch something, she will be happy to explain again. If you are bad at Math, you just have to listen very carefully and put a little effort. If she sees that you are trying, she will do everything to help you. She also gives practice tests, look over them , VERY helpful. Good luck.
She is absolutely horrible teacher !!! If you take your phone out for anything even turning your cell phone on vibrate she kicks you out of the class for the day and marks you absent and gives you a zero or 5 points off your test grade! She is also not a good teacher doesn Explain things throughly and moves to fast. DONT TAKE HER!

Great teacher, really knows her stuff. If you go to class and make an actual effort you will pass. I recommend asking her questions before or just after class so she will get to know you better and see you're trying.
I took her Trig class in six weeks and it was awesome. Attendance is mandatory, but it's worth it. I didn't even need to buy the textbook. She gave us a daily worksheet and that was all the studying that I did. She broke down problems step by step.
She is very smart, nice BUT she talks too fast and explains things to the point where you are more confused than when you started. If math is your weakness I would suggest keep looking around.

She goes super fast in lectures, covers a lot of material in one day, and is very unorganized. She does not explain what is expected for the class; states one thing on syllabus, another in emails, and something completely different in class. If math is not your strong suit, DO NOT TAKE HER! She does not care if you fail or pass. HORRIBLE TEACHING!
If you study shes great. Took her for trig and college algebra. If you pay attention and put in effort you will pass. The negative comments are due to people expecting to be spoon fed. Or they are mad because they arent good at math. As a mathwiz i liked her because she moved relatively fast. I hate when teachers drag out simple topics. Shes awesom
Awful professor, she make sure you spend 100 bucks on my math lab, it counts so much towards your final grade and if you are a comma off the whole answer is wrong and you get zero points, this is an easy class but shes not a good professor I got a D in her class I took it again with Alvin Johnson and got an A...
If this professor is your last resort and she only meets your schedule needs, please do not do it. Worst mistake ever. She is pretty stressful and says one thing and something else completely different another day. She's nice but cannot teach well and moves quickly. Although her test are simple.
Awesome teacher! She really wants her students to pass and yes there is quite a bit of work outside the classroom but if you take good notes in class you'll be able to breeze by. All homework and quizzes are on My Math Lab which is good because if you need to refer back to a powerpoint they are available to you through that. 10/10 would recommend
I am TERRIBLE at math, so there is no teacher that could make it easy, but I liked Prof. Porro. She breaks things down and is always willing to answer questions, no matter how simple they seemed. The key is to DO YOUR MATHLAB. Do not put it off. She gives a little bit of extra credit.

Worst professor I've ever had. She treats everyone like they should already know the subject. She does not review before tests. She offers homework but homework doesn't make a difference. She makes you feel terrible if you don't do well on a test and says it in front of the class. Do not recommend.
She can be nice, but in all actuality she is not a very good professor. She acts as if we should know everything being taught to us and refers back to "MAT 1033C" like us students haven't taken that semesters ago. She claims to give extra credit but our grade does not reflect that. She embarrasses students by giving back test in front of the class.
Unless you are already well-versed in the subject she is teaching, avoid this professor at all costs. Her lecture style is the opposite of cohesive, and the way she structures homework and quizzes will take you hours and hours of labor to complete. Really. Seriously. Find another professor.
She doesnt know how to teach. You can be so good in math and still fail. The homework and class work you do doesnt affect your grade. Her grading is based on your test scores. I will never recommend her to anyone because I have never failed a math class in my life.

Might as well have taught myself everything. She goes so fast and goes though 5 sections per class. When you ask her a simple question she doesn't answer it at ALL. wanted to skip class each time but I couldn't because if you miss one thing you miss the whole freaking chapter.
Shes prob the worst math professor Ive ever had. Her extra credit is buying items for a max of 5 extra points on tests. She once told us before a test even my A students failed this test, and guess what? A majority of the class failed. WHY GIVE YOUR STUDENTS A TEST THEY CLEARLY DONT UNDERSTAND?? Would not recommend this class at all.
I took Porro for Mac1105 and trig. Yes I can agree that her lectures are confusing. The thing is with math is you RLY need to study. Use the lectures as a guide and self teach yourself. Take your practice tests to the SLC and I guarantee you will pass. Practicing increases the ability to understanding the material
she Told Half of the class they will fail. You have to buy your extra credit ,you only get 5btw. She use a old PowerPoint. On every test review theres always two or three Errors. She go to fast and when you ask a question she give you a A blank stare and move on. DONT TAKE HER CLASS she is the worst. But at least shes nice.
She moves way to fast during class it is very hard to keep up. Dont bother with extra credit because youll have to spend a little money for only a few points. Her practice tests always have errors. Doesnt go over any problems you need help with shell just say to go to the Learning Center.
Horrible. She lost my test, gave me a 0, said I wasn't there when I emailed her. After emailing her about it a few times and her insisting I wasn't there she asked me what test it was... I had no choice but to drop. Also extremely fast, doesn't explain well.
If you want to pass any math class DO NOT TAKE PORRO she's terrible at explaining things. Somedays I would pray to get sick just so I didn't have to go to her class. I re-took my collage algebra class and passed with a 95%. Ask her to explain something and she repeats what the book says. She is nice shes just a terrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!

Professor Porro is seriously one of the best professors I have had, she gives incredibly positive feedback. She assigns quizzes weekly, along with lessons. The work is manageable to do, turn your work in on time and you will for sure pass her class. Her class was great and I highly recommend taking any class she teaches!
Porro is an amazing teacher! She always put student learning first, and was willing to go over any problem as many times as needed. My class was on zoom two times a week, with homework every class and larger exams once every 2-3 weeks. Before large exams, there was always a review class. Would recommend 100% if you are willing to put in some effort
The class is hard and participation determines your attendance! Shes alright..
I had this teacher twice and didn't mean to take her twice but in the first class the material was easier but the class I got a D in was harder and the online work was very confusing. She wasn't very helpful or reaching out to help us.
Professor Porro has a great personality and is a good professor, the downside is that the only assignment you are being graded on is homework and four major tests. I did all the homework with an A on each assignment but then did fair on the exams and got a C for a final grade.
She was a pretty good teacher. She was easy to get in touch with, gave good feedbacks.. just make sure to study and past your quiz and testes they count for a lot
It required Browser Lockdown. Crazy amount of text to cover. Used MyMathLabs. Gave easy extra credit. No make-up!!.
Almost no emails were responded to. Has no helpful power points, or outlines and doesn't do help through zoom. If you have trouble with the material she tells u to go to SLC. Tons of hw on mymathlab. Tests are much easier than hw though. Please don't do this online unless math is easy for u!
Professor Porro was a very nice professor, although even if you do all of the homework and did mediocre on the test you would still pass by the skin of your teeth. She even commented how I was a good math student but because i have friends they dragged me and my grade down.
This class was brutal. She is relatively tech illiterate for someone teaching an online class. Spent 38 hours over a week studying for the second test. Teaching style is to do one or two easy examples in class and leave it to you to struggle with Mathlab and extremely difficult homework and tests. Beware.
Her material was well organized and assignments helped with grasping the topics. There are videos that come with the assignments or examples and she also has PDFs with examples and videos on each topic. You can arrange Zoom meetings to help with tough topics. I only had to schedule a meeting twice. I just needed more practice for a better grade.
I would recommend taking her for lower-level maths but not Calc. Unless you plan to go to tutoring very often, I would not recommend taking Survey of Calculus with her. Survey of Calc is already a challenging class. She is very friendly and will offer help, but I would recommend someone else for Calculus.
She's rlly nice but she's a rlly hard class. Moves through things rlly fast and EXTREMELY test heavy. I'm horrible when it comes to tests so I didn't do good on them but I would get As on the hw BUT no matter how many As you get on the hw it will only bump you up like half a percentage maybe even less. No extra credit or curves.
Although Professor Porro is very knowledgeable in what she teaches, I couldn't recommend this class to anyone. She rushes through her lessons and lacks in-depth explanation, has an attitude when questioned, and gets irritated when you ask her to slow down. Unless you learn at a fast pace, Pearson is going to be your teacher in this class.
Her lectures are very rushed and isn't explained very well. Not good at all as an online class, she struggles greatly with the technology. She is also extremely strict about testing requirements. I would not recommend her for anything online and anything above basic math or you'll be very confused.
Do NOT take her online course. If you are experiencing problems, she does not offer any valuable solutions. Taking her class was highly frustrating as I begged for help, and she did not provide any. Her testing setup is ridiculous and caused me so many issues. She's friendly, I guess, but she failed me as a professor.
You can get 100% on all your assignments, but as soon as you take the test and bomb it, the assignments you got 100% on will NOT backup your overall grade. Your grade will TANK. You have to go online or get like this 6 feet cord or whatever with a lockdown browser. DOING WAY TO MUCH.

Took her online for both college algebra and intro to college algebra. Both classes required camera for test and lockdown browser. But the class is fairly weighted between discussion test and hw. Does give extra credit. Also got a D in college algebra towards end of semester and sent a bunch of emails and she was nice enough to give me a C.
She is genuinely a nice person, and I think she is so kind and sweet. The issue with this class is that she doesn't explain the concepts well enough for me or others to understand. She needs to improve by going step by step with the class to solve one equation and then letting them give it a try. I wish her nothing but the best of luck!!!!
Be prepared for a lot of assignments and not just about 30 in a month look for around 50-60. Once was assigned 16 in a week just be weary.
I had this course online. She allows a notecard with formulas for the tests, which helps a lot. The assignments aren't too bad, and you can go back and get a better grade up until the end of the course, which I found as a bonus.
