awww so cute!! she is sweet, but boring super easy A
She is really cute and so nice, the tests were a little harder than I expected
She's very nice and helpful. Go to class the day before the test and get an A
Lots of work, but you learn a lot. Pay attention, and you should do fine.
If A_desired then goto class_B4_test end if
Her class was very easy. Do the homework and you are set.

Ok She is not hot to set the record Straight, but she will be fair. The class is boring.... very boring
She's very nice and helpful if you speak spanish (j/k). I would take her class again if i needed to. Try to take Posada or Lange for CS 150.
I hope you can get over her accent. Coursework isnt too hard to figure out on your own.
Very clear and easy to understand. Read the Blackboard notes and don't buy the $100 book.
She was not a very good teacher. I do this kind of work for a living, and she didn't know half of it.
BORING!! But easy.
As a person I really like Posada. She is an effective teacher, with the sole exception of being able to teach SQL and PL/SQL. I easily had an 'A' in this class only to get blown out of the water on the final.
Took her database class and struggeled through it but partly because I did not try hard enough to get a great grade STUDY your notes and the book and you will be ok
Very nice lady! Course is extremely easy, even if you dont know anything about computers. Her accent makes it tough to understand at first, but you catch on.
She is absolutely adorable! She's always happy and very willing to help. The assignments are easy, the webpage is fun to do, the Word, Excel, and Access exams are really easy, and the textbook exams are OK. Overall, it's an easy A.
VERY EASY A!! thats really what everyone cares to know
She is actually a very good teacher and knows about databases! She explains very well and has a lot of experience.
Cute **** if U are into that. However, she is very compassionate, understanding and helpful. Some couldn't afford $100 book so she lent out some she had. Its a 100 lev. class so good students be prepared to participate more in a class full of freshmen who are all too scared to talk. EZ class
The tests count for way too much of your grade because they are really hard. I studied for a long time before the final test and I only got a C. She is nice but the tests are horrible.
I really liked her. Very nice lady. She'll help you with whatever your stuck on as long as you ask. She also has an accent, but it's pretty easy to understand her when she lectures. The only drawback is that her tests over lecture are kind of hard.
Easy class and as far as lecture tests go they all come from her BB lectures on the N drive. It's a hard class if you know absolutely 0 about a computer. She guides you thru the applications in lecture and not in a lab which makes it harder when it comes time to turn in the weekly project.
Good teacher but lots of pointless work, and will go on a tangent or spend a lot of time telling you about something you really don't need to know about. But she means well and is willing to help you as much as possible. Her accent is NOT bad, if you think so, you need to learn to listen better!
Extremely nice lady teaching an extremely pointless class...but if you're computer illiterate i suppose that she'll suit you just fine!
Boring class! the lectures are boring and no one takes notes. all you have to do is print off the slides for the mid term and final. The assignments in the lab are OK. She is nice too!
Very easy. Very clear. Knows what to teach and how to teach it. Slight sense of humor as well. Very well rounded prof.
She's a sweetheart. From columbia so talks with a heavy accent, espically on the word "wizard." Easy course, you really don't have to go ever, just do the lab assignments whenver you want, do the tests and you'll still excell.
Does well at teaching a subject everyone knows alot about already. She is willing to help and her test and assignments are very easy. If you do them you should get an A!
CS 150 to begin with is a very easy course, she taught the material clearly and efficiently. Majority of the lectures are pointless, especially if one is mildly computer literate. Lab activities are helpful and grading is fair. I would recommend highly.
Awesome prof. Very into computers and wants everyone to understand them. She is helpful in the lab when you have questions. She can tend to talk and do things really quickly but just ask her again one on one and you will get it. Multiple choice questions are hard but practical tests are pretty easy.
She is very nice and has a cute sence of humor. Not a hard class to take. She knows what she is talking about and explains things well, her acent is kinda heavy but not so bad that you can't understand what she is saying. I would recommend taking her.
She is a very laid back and easy teacher. She makes things very clear. I only went to the labs and still got a B in the class. Take her!
Shes awesome. Her tests and assignments are very easy.
She is so sweet. Really easy class and her tests and assignments are insanely easy. the book is super expensive but you use it for the assignments. Very flexible and overall a good prof.
very easy class very nice teacher highly recomend
she's very sweet and helps out as much as she can. the topic itself isn't too difficult and the test aren't hard as long as you know the review sheet she gives out.
Very nice prof. There are two parts to the class: Microsoft Office and concepts. If you have used Office before you will be able to pass most tests without studying since she is not picky about little things. However, watch out for the concepts test. There are some pretty random facts that even computer-savvy would have a tough time with.
Really enthused about her subject, easy to get along with.
This is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. She is very patient if you are not a computer person, doesn't make you feel stupid.
She is so sweet! She really loves computers, and understands when students do not. She always helps, and doesn't get annoyed when she has to repeat herself. The mid-term and final are a little hard, but it you follow the study guide you'll be fine. DO THE TUTORIALS... even if you think you know everything... it will help you a lot.
I LOVED ANA! she is not only the sweetest lady she is the most helpful. Yes if your not interested in computers the lecture portion is kinda boring but if you have to take this class TAKE HER! i knew zero about computers and ended up with an A-.. i got the - because the midterm and final were a tad challenging.
What a great little lady! Ana is a wonderful teacher- assignments, tests, and projects are reasonable and really help you get hands-on experience. Great class!
Ana is simply amazing. She is extremely enthusiastic about her teaching. She's hilarious and really knows her stuff. Tests and projects are fair. Take her for any CS class you can...seriously.
Prof. Posada is a wonderful teacher and one of the better ones within the CS department. Simply go to office hours with any question, as you will find this extremely helpful. The tests, projects, and homework for this class are very reasonable, so be sure to do well on the homework as the tests can sometimes be a bit hard. Overall, a great class!
What to say about Ana... umm.. She's super! (she actually gets really excited!) She is a wonderful professor, and even with a thick accent, you can understand the material wonderfully. Please try to study for the final though, as this can be a bit difficult if you don't read the textbook. Overall, she's great. Take her for CS classes if you can.
Posada was great. She was a fun professor with a real passion for databases. She is always willing to help out students.
Anna is a wonderful person, she is INCREDIBLY helpful! If you are having any problems she is more than willing to help in her office hours. As far as the class goes, there are 5 projects which can be difficult, a 10 pt quiz every Friday, and a midterm and final. I would definitely take her again just because she is so helpful!
Fantastic professor. Teaches a boring subject with enthusiasm and makes it interesting. Go to office hours if you're stuck. She's very helpful, and really patient. Would highly recommend.
Great professor. Always enthusiastic and positive. Receptive to questions and very helpful in answering them. Very fair grader. Funny sense of humor that makes class interesting.
THIS CLASS SUCKS! don't take unless you have to, very time consuming and extremely boring. 5 project that take at least 8 hours each, quizzes each week, and a difficult midterm and final…definitely work with people on the projects and see the tutors…as for posada, she is really nice and genuinely wants you to do well…good prof; awful class
Great teacher! Extremely helpful and passionate. Easiness is only a 3 because the learning curve to get into programming is a bit high. Only drawback to the class is the teacher's accent. I personally don't mind it, but I know some people might have trouble understanding her.
if available, i would take this class with another professor. she is very caring about her students but is sometimes hard to understand and her exams arent the easiest, 3 access assignments that contributed nothing to helping me in the class and the final group project is a pain if you dont know what youre doing. take with another prof if you can
Professor Posada cares about her students and will do everything in her power to help us succeed. As long as you put in effort and show up on Fridays for weekly quizzes, the class should be easy and enjoyable!
Ana is such a sweetheart with a passion for her work! Wants you to succeed and will help you in any way possible. She'll adjust deadlines if the class needs extra time. She genuinely cared about me, and the other students, and I can't wait to have her again! If you're familiar with Java, the book isn't necessary; at most, download the eBook.
Surprised that this is a req'd class. It's so easy. Ana makes it fun, and interesting. Most of the class skipped lecture, only came to lab. The way the class is set up can be frustrating with automated grading, but she will give you points back for the system being dumb. Tests are easy, it's really an easy A for anyone with half a brain.
You can skip class very easily. Would only come for the very few exams. Very nice, truly amazing teacher. Gives no assignments or pop quiz assignments in class.
Professor Posada makes a boring subject tolerable. She tries to make it as interesting as possible. She treats students like adults. Clear expectations. If you do the homework every week and slightly study for the textbook exams there is no reason you shouldn't get an A in this class. The homework is a killer though, so boring and a lot of it.
She is easy going and her class is easy also
Quizzes each week but aren't that hard. Very good with explaining where you are going wrong and super approachable.
She does well explaining to us who have had zero experience coding before. Quizzes each week, but they are very easy. There is more than enough time to complete the projects, and they have detailed guidelines that make them quite accessible. Easy class. Great Professor.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITHOUT PRIOR PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE! No prereqs are "required" but you'd be insane to try. I have a bachelors in accounting and have had some hard classes, this is the most difficult course ive ever taken. Mid term avg was a 65, only that high because 1/3 the class has programming exp. Scored a 58, put in ALOT of time for it
She is good at helping if you go to her office hours. If you have no coding experience, this class will be hard for you. She is hard to understand sometimes but her written instructions are very clear. Weekly quizzes. She is very enthusiastic about the topic. Lectures are pretty boring though.
I had very little coding experience before taking this class. Honestly, it is not that hard as people say and I'm not special. Learning takes time, but that's life. Professor Posada is almost always available and helps without hesitation. Lectures can be tedious but overall well put! You'll learn a lot in this class, she is a good choice.
She is so sweet and makes the class as easy as it can get. She is pretty lenient on project grading, there isn't a ton of homework, easy weekly quizzes pad your grade (she drops the lowest), and only two exams which are easy since the main focus of the class is the projects. She's always willing to help, office hours or email!
I switched my major after taking 162 with Prof Posada. She is by far one of the most caring profs i've had. Her labs where very helpful , and where a good way to get practice before having to do the projects.
The professor was always willing to help students if they were struggling. Her teaching combined with the book was helpful in learning how to code for a first timer like myself. The projects were hard, but she lets you work with other people and when going in for help you always leave with the correct answers. She really cares about her students.
Prof. Posada clearly cares about her students and loves teaching the material. Her enthusiasm is infectious.
Posada is enthusiastic and passionate about programming, and it shows! This class will probably be really difficult if you have no prior experience with java, but not impossible; she's very helpful during office hours and always willing to help if needed. Quizzes every week but they're short and easy/prepare you well for the exams.
Professor Posada is one of the best professors I've ever had. I was really nervous to take this course as I've had no computing background. I really enjoyed the class and enjoyed programming. Be sure to use the online book and Coding Bat to practice coding. Professor Posada is always available and always willing to help. Highly recommend!!
If you show up to class and ask questions, Dr. Posada is one of the best CS professors you could get at Grand Valley. Her accent may be a little tough to understand at first, but she truly cares about her students and grading-wise, it's easy to know what to expect from her. Average amount of work overall.
She was fantastic! Homework was tough, but wasn't frequent and helped you prepare for the exams. She was always very helpful and answered questions and emails thoroughly and quickly. Gives you a good idea of what will be on exams. Only need the textbook for a couple things. 10/10 would take again. Posada is very smart, caring, and respected.
Professor Posada is a very nice person, she has a little bit of accent but it is not an issue at all. She does a pretty good job explaining things, and the office hours are helpful. Get ready for Homeworks tho, cuz you are going to get a lot of them, but I think they are helpful. I would definitely retake her again. I liked her class.
The projects and the labs can be painful and frustrating, but she is an excellent professor and her office hours are very helpful. Personally speaking, I think you will be fine to take this class without any previous coding experience, but that's just my opinion. But get ready to work though, the first project is super short but after that, oh boy!
Professor Posada is a great CIS professor, after taking this class I can now fluently write in Java even though I had little to no coding experience beforehand. Highly recommended for CIS 162!
If Ana could teach every class that I ever took at GV, I would not complain at all. She is the sweetest and most caring professor I have ever had. Even if you know nothing about coding or computers, she will be there for you to help you learn and understand. She still says hi to me and asks how I'm doing when she sees me. I HIGHLY recommend her
Professor Posada was the best introductory professor I've ever had. After the Covid shutdown, she held remote classes every day with the same level of enthusiasm and was always willing to help during office hours and outside of class. She was very understanding and helped everyone deal with the switch and gave extra time/help along with feedback.
This was my first computer science course at GVSU and it was hybrid this year. She even adjusted the course layout to help with the online learning experience by giving us a whole week to complete a lab instead of just 2 hours. You could always email her for help or attend her office hours. I HIGHLY recommend her for your first cis course at GVSU!
Professor Posada is a great professor! Even though I had her for 8ams she is the main reason I would get up for the class daily. She is easy to work with and she held many office hours every week which were very helpful. She doesnt upload videos of lecture, so you have to be in class daily but its worth it. Easy A if you put in the work.
I don't know why but Colombian professors at GVSU are the best professors I've ever had . Had her in winter 2020, (Covid pandemic) and her transition to online was the smoothest i've ever seen. She was so great at teaching online and adapted to situation so well. And don't get me started on how she was pre pandemic. *Chief kiss* Take her.
I had the best CIS 162 experience with Professor Posada. You'll love this class if you are interested in CIS. She is caring, genuine, and wants everyone in her class to succeed. Sometimes the workload is a lot but you'll get through it! Tip: Always print out the project rubric. (Professor, if you are reading this, you know who I am:) )
She is a great TEACHER, can help you with anything and really help you understand the material
She is very nice, but she seems to lose patience quickly if u like to ask a lot of questions like me... Overall a decent professor to have
Posada is easily one of the best professors I have ever had. This was my first ever coding class, and the way that she teaches/lectures is great for all students. She is very caring and wants her students to pass, and will make sure that you get the help that you need . I am enrolling in her 163 class since she is an amazing professor.
Professor Posada was a good professor. She definitely tried her hardest, but it was at some times too fast. She'd try and squeeze stuff in here and there which wasn't easy on the students having to learn these things. The exams also didn't make sense sometimes.
She is a decent choice for entry-level course, but I personally wouldn't take her for any class above 163
I find the way Prof. Posada explains things to be super helpful. She gives challenging but fun projects and clearly has a passion for teaching. Attendance isn't required but I'd recommend not skipping lectures because she talks about a lot of important stuff. Overall I highly recommend her :)
I had her 3 years ago and to this day she is the best CIS professor I've ever had. I had her for 162 AND 163 when they were both in Java. She is super helpful and understanding, and if you go to her office hours she will help you no matter what. I miss having her as a professor! She's super knowledgeable in what she teaches.
Great professor, took this class in Python. She's very smart, attendance not required, but I'd still recommend going as she covers useful things to know for projects and exams. I'm going to miss her. Textbook was free and you didn't need to read it to succeed. Start projects early and PLEASE learn to use the pycharm debugger or you'll hate projects
She is like the first boss in darksouls, it felt hard at the time just because its everyone's first cs class, but looking back at it now she is not bad at all. She is not as patient as her husband though (shout out to Trefftz, he is the GOAT), good luck.
