boring as all hell. if u can take with another prof., DO IT! no procopy, lectures will cause you to fall asleep, and his accent doesnt help. all he does is read from the book. he doesnt help you to capture the concept. i can do better teaching myself.
Don't take this class. His accent is horrible as hell and you never know what he is talking about. I think he tries to read out the book during lectures. The majority of the class falls asleep during class.
anand is the most boring prof. ever, if u wanna classify him as that. i think he reads the chapter before class and just talks us to death. no procopy, no clue about whats on the tests, just an indian guy talking about IBM and CocaCola, and half the time idk what hes talkin about cuz i cant understand him. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
really easy class, long lectures, stays all 3 hours, but he provides good examples and you will do well if you just pay attention in class because his tests are based a lot on the lectures. I didn't read the book at all for the first test and just went to class and got a high A. His accent is difficult to understand either in my opinion, hes funny
Do not listen to the negative comments other people wrote. Kumar is funny and interesting, and his accent is more humorous than confusing. You don't need a book for this class, just download the powerpoint notes and study them. He is not boring if you go to class to learn something, now that is a novel idea!
I agree, I think he is a good prof. and makes the class interesting with his examples and side jokes. His accent is easy to understand and his tests are easy and based on the lectures. I would def. take him again. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise, they want their grades handed to them instead of having to pay attention and learn something
Duh, marketing is an easy subject. You don't need to take this class. It's boring and he just reads out the book. Take it with someone else.
Nice guy, his lectures are okay, I wouldn't call him funny though. I also wouldn't call the class easy. I personally don't think he made the subject interesting enough, but he is not a bad teacher. It is helpful that he provides his slides on blackboard.
He is a new teacher at U.S.F, and i am actually enjoying his class. His notes and lectures are very clear. If you ever have a problem, he is very willing to help out. His exams are straight from his powerpoints. Trust me, he is a very good teacher "IF" You go to class and take notes.
Excellent teacher! Just go to class and take notes and there is no need to get the book... Don't listen to all the other idiots on here, if you want an easy A then take Kumar. He is pretty funny too when he says wersion instead of version!
As long as you attend class, you will do fine on the exams. His grading policy is fair, his exams are straightforward, and he is always willing to help.
Go to class and you'll do fine. He gives a good lecture, although you'll have to get used to his accent (I've heard alot worse!). He knows what he's talking about and is very willing and able to help you out in any way possible. Don't listen to the idiots on here that can't type properly.
Go to lectures but he's a very nice teacher not to difficult. Read the book and watch power point and you'll pass
I didn't like this guy. He didn't return my emails and all the test averages were C's. Didn't even give us a review or mention anything regarding the final. It's BASIC Marketing, why is the average class score a C???
All you have to do is study the slides from class. He is bit unclear of what he is asking for on his tests.
He is a very good teacher. If he doesn't get to the slides on the powerpoint....he will not have it on the test. If you don't go to class, make sure you know all the slides well. If you want an A, go to all classes, you didn't need to read the book, only when he told you too. Awesome teacher......Don't listen to the neg. replys, i would take hi
for a basic marketing class, this is not as easy as you think. tests are hard, make sure and go to every class and pay close attention
He's a good professor but his exams aren't exactly easy. Exams are challenging but if you attend his lectures and study the powerpoint slides you'll cruise through the course. Not as easy as I had expected for basic marketing if you attend classes you will be fine.
Lectures are boring but the class is easy as long as you study.
Very easy professor. Just fill out PP slides. Not too interesting tho, could b better. Book is good, thick, but u dont really need it to pass. Easy course.
I enjoyed his class. He ties the material into real world happenings and keeps the classes attention most of the time. He doesn't give reviews and some of the exam questions come from examples he gives and arent in the text or slides. You can skip often and pull off a B in my opinion.
Although I didn't attend many of the lectures... I still got a B. I wrote notecards for all the definitions which there are a ton!!! and I studied the informtion on his slides. Would definitely recommend going to the lectures bc I came very close to a C and I probably did too much work for this class. Would not want to take again!!!
Very boring teacher!! He doesn't give out a lot of notes and is very unclear about what will be tested. I didn't read the book but I did make sure I knew all the definitions for the tests and I did well. Study the powerpoint notes from class and the chapter notes that are in each chapter folder (summarize it for you) and you should get an A
I enjoyed this class. He makes jokes, and really wants you to get into Marketing. Take lectures and print out slides, and you should get an A or B. Only need textbook for definitions. I recommend him.
easy class, go to every class and you should be fine, all mult choice tests, u may use the book to study but very easy class!
Professor tries to make it fun. only used notes to study, got an A.
It's a VERY easy class that isn't all 100% strait forward w/the book. DON'T READ the book, just study the exam reviews prior to the test and you should be fine (Answer EVERY question on them!!). Use the book for definitions and clarity, but study the SLIDES, LECTURES, and REVIEW. He gives extra credit for attending and drops ONE QUIZ!! Take it!
He asks questions to students all through class and never gives an answer. He stays ALL class long and its incredibly boring BUT you HAVE to be there because of his horrible Pop Quizzes! This is the 1st time he's done this and his grading policy is ridiculous, it took the students 2 weeks to finally figure out how to calculate the scores.Very greed
He's unintelligible half the time and the rest of the time he just stands there and rambles about Apple and Coca-Cola, etc. Unfortunately you HAVE to be in class to pick up on the 2-3 things from each torturous 3 hour class that will be on the test. Oh, and he randomly gives quizzes at the end of class. Lots of work but I got an A. GOOD LUCK!
Mr. Kumar is a pretty nice guy.I talked once with him outside class and he was cool.I didn't learn squat from his class because i didn't care. His exams are some of the easiest i've ever seen.I didn't use the book much, just his powerpoint slides.I got an A. I'd retake him!
Prof Kumar is really hard... he puts two different sets of slides on BB and only uses one on class. It;s a wste of paper to print them out. His tests have ALOT of "real" life situations on them. He also asks for definitions from studetns but never clarifies them. Not Very good at all :(
Too much calling on individuals in the class made it hard with 200 people in an auditorium. otherwise his class was easy
Nice guy and very knowledgeable, very straight forward class but I don't know if I would recommend him because it is hard to study for his tests. The questions are almost all situational so you have to be well read in the text and listen to his lectures carefully to get an A.
Basically you don't have to go to class. Only 3 tests, optional final, and a few extra credit points. Pretty easy course overall.
Anyone who says this class is hard are lazy just don't want to go to class. Yes he rambles, his lectures can be torture but print out the lecture powerpoints to follow along and take notes. You only need the book for reference, if that. He gives a tests reveiw sheet and his tests are so easy it makes up for any other flaws the class has.
Easy A--go to class to fill in powerpoints, theres a few extra credit points, but study, don't really need the book just for terms if you missed them in class. he's a nice guy
Easy B. 3 tests/1 final, drop the lowest grade. 4.5 grade average points extra credit offered. His teaching style is questionable. He asks questions and keeps calling until he gets the answer he wants as if he doesn't know it already. He comes across as a complete idiot in the subject, but knows a lot. I probably missed 1/4 of the clases, did fine.
Class is easy, however he is very uncompromising and will not help you much. Don't expect any favors from him. If it was not for the quizes in class, I would not go to them. Just read book and do online questions. Little warning, he can have an explosive fits of angre for little reason. May be USF can drop this guy one day with enough complaints.
Cool teacher, I enjoyed his class. He is very helpful and sometimes pretty funny, would recommend again.
Awesome teacher! Learned alot from this class and would recommend!
SO EASY as long as you go to class and take detailed notes, you don't even need to buy the book if you do this. He uses a lot of examples for clarity. He is funny and very helpful...if you email him, he writes back within a day. There's no reason not to get an A if you go to class and take notes...i would recommend bringing laptop if you have one.
Took his class in the summer. Very easy, only 3 exams and optional final, which cancels lowest test grade. Exams based mainly on power points and class notes. He was helpfull, as was the textbook. I thought he was a nice guy.
Easy summer class. Dont buy the book, just take good notes.
Excellent professor.Really easy class.3 exams and an optional final. Gives you about 4% extracredit for your final grade just for participating in online surveys that take about 5 minutes. Class is fun explains everything really well through examples. Makes you see marketing from a diff perspective. Highly recommended. Easy A
If you want an A, u will need the book, b/c the exam has a few questions not covered in the lecture. Don't listen to the ppl on here who say u don't need the book, or u will get screwed like I did on the first exam. Unfortunately, english is not his first language and his lectures are discursive and tangential. But hes easier than the other prof.
Any business major should find this class fairly easy, so anyone rating this class hard is probably just a communications major.
Do not take this course
I took professor Kumar for Basic Marketing. It was a great course and pretty much a breeze. I wouldn't take him for Promotion.
Had Dr. Kumar for basic marketing this summer. He knows what he is talking about in the world of marketing. The only thing I did not like was how he would go off on stories and rush to finish the material. I got an A with attending lectures, reading the text, and doing his study guide.
His semester long group project assignment was very unclear. I didn't know what to do next most of the semester. You have to talk to him constantly to point you in the right direction. He was also took days to answer my emails, but answered a cute foreign exchange student's email instantly! I didn't like him, but do all of the study guides for a A
Take Pr. Kumar!! Really cool guy. 3 tests that are multiple choice and 1 group project. He is really easy to talk to.
Good professor and a really easy class. As long as you do the study guide its an easy A!
Great professor. Has no problem going the extra mile to make sure you know the topic. also great with tying in entertaining and interesting topics with the materials!
One of my favorite professors At first seems monotone, but when u listen he's pretty interesting & relates topics to current events. He cares about the students grasping concepts instead of regurgitating info. Passionate & cares about his students &their future careers. Easy A if u follow along in class, u wont have to study much. Useful info.
I took basic marketing with him and it was a breeze. As long as you go to his lectures, study the study guide and participate you will do great. Sometimes his exam questions are a bit misleading but they are usually 50 questions so it wont impact your grade a lot. There are 3 exams, final is optional, but warning, the exams are the only grades.
Interesting professor, decent lectures. Definitely get the textbook and look everything up on the study guides for the tests (online textbook is helpful so you can search). He likes to ask questions and ask random people to answer them during class so pay attentions for that. Grade is based on 3 tests and an optional final.
He's really nice and a sweet, older man. He definitely deserves respect. The lectures can be tedious but the tests are easy if you study the material he tells you to.
He is a sweet professor who understands the content well. There are 3 exams and an option final, and you need to get at least a 93% to get an A+, below that your GPA will drop. The textbook is optional but he pulls some test questions from it, and his lectures are the foundation for the test so you have to go to class even though its not required.
Professor Kumar knows his stuff about marketing. Very accessible and cares about his students. I had him in a large lecture hall (300 students) for 3 hours once a week. Study for the tests and not too hard to get an A.
Best prof ever! Super engaging you really learn. Assists you outside of class too. Helped with jobs and internships.
I'm a student who usually gets A's and B's, with an occasional C. This class was all online. The only graded things were 3 exams and the optional final exam. The lectures are just posted power-points that had little detail in them. I got bad grades on the exams even after studying the week leading up to it and 2 hours right before the exam.
Br Mngmt: Easy class. It was online for some reason this semester. Since the material that was covered in the review session wasn't tested on, I was definitely incentivized to not watch them and put my time somewhere else. Def meet with him towards the end of the project to see what can be added. MBTN modules are easy points to boost grade.
THE WORST CLASS EVER.3 EXAMS, THATS IT. NO EXTRA CREDIT.
3 exams, final is optional. THAT'S IT! no extra credit. all proctored. chapters are very long. first time I had to drop a class.
Only 3 exams and 3 quiz blocks. He doesnt teach very well, very hard to understand. His lectures are very boring. The way the grade structure is, its very hard to get even a C in the class.
I'M glad I finished all of his classes, he's very unorganized and you never know when and how he will share information about the topics. He is a tough grader and expects us to know everything and he is never clear about what he is looking for in tests or assignments. If you have another option try taking then instead of him.
Only 3 exams, all 50-something questions long. Reads off of a PowerPoint. Bad class to take. I have never received such a low grade in a class when I was making above average scores.
Has a slight accent but me being a native Floridian, it is extremely easy to understand his lectures and he is quite knowledgeable and relatable when it comes to the questions he asks and his interactions with students. Moreover, he is kind!
Professor Kumar has an accent but I don't find it hard to understand at all. Even though he's not the best professor, he's caring and passionate about Marketing. He's accessible outside of class, I was able to schedule appointments with him because I can't go to his office hours. Very helpful, he's always make sure the students grasp the concepts.
Professor Kumar is a great professor although he can talk for hours. Be prepared to stay in class until 9:30-10:00pm. He talks so much it can be overwhelming at times. Class is relatively easy if you pick a good group for the group project. there are two quizzes based on the modules which are a bit tricky. Modules are easy and boost your grade.
25% for each test, the first 2 ones were honorlocked, the last one was on-site. Have extra credits.
Professor Kumar cares about his students. His lectures can sometimes be very tiresome to listen to as he docent let the class out until 9:45-10:15. I advise to pick a good group for the group project. There are two quizzes based on the modules which are easy and boost your grade. There is also a group case study along with 2 assignment and an exam.
Professor Kumar is very knowledgeable in the word of marketing, thus if you are a marketing major then taking professor Kumar is recommended. The class is very exam heavy. 4 exams for 75% of your grade - the closest one is dropped. Exam 1-2 are online but the last exam is in person
ONLY 3 EXAMS. No class work. No textbook. No homework. No projects. Just 3 in-person exams. 50 questions each and if you dont do well on one exam you will preform terribly and likely not do well in the course. Im not sure if its structured this way because he is too lazy to grade assignments or what. Get at least a 70% on each assignment or fail.
The course was just 4 exams and you keep the best of 3. Just show up to class and take notes. Tests are pretty easy if you go to class.
4 exams, lowest is dropped - that is your course grade. Lectures are lengthy and can be boring.
Not an insanely hard class to say the least. Your overall grade is based off of your highest 3 exams, nothing else. Lectures were pretty boring and PowerPoints were vague and didn't include everything covered for an exam. I would use the OpenStax textbook which is free and you'll get a general idea of what to expect. The TA was awesome though!
There are 4 exams and that's what makes up your grade. No homework, quizzes, papers, projects or anything. If you bomb a test, there are no other assignments to pad your grade. This class is run like a 1990s class with tests only and no other assignments. I would steer clear if you can unless you're a super tester.
It was a very easy class; I took the 6:30 to 9:15 pm class, and he never kept us past 8:30. The exams were all extremely simple. Personally, I didn't need to study (no prior knowledge of marketing), and he only graded 3 out of the 4 exams. Overall great class
Your only grades are your 3 exams. There is no homework, no assignments for this class, just exams. The material was easy, I wouldn't go to class and just lock in for exams, 3-4 hours of studying was enough time to fit all the material. If you are a good test taker and don't like exams, this is the class to take.
Easy enough class, but the professor teaches nothing useful in lectures. Uses seriously out of date examples in a field that is all about being relevant and up-to-date. Class is 3 quizzes and 3 exams (honorlock) so if you're not a good test taker, be warned. Just focus on the study guides posted to canvas and study those topics. Lectures are boring
In the class he covers everything. 4 exams, final is optional. Drops lowest grade. Easy going. Provides study guide before exam. Just go thru them you will do well. Exams are in person.
Maymester 3 exams, 5 quizzes, all multiple choice, and honorlock closed note and book for both. To succeed, I recommend reading the sections of the textbook that he tells you to, and do the questions at the end of each section. Those questions are very similar to exams quizzes. Watch the lecture PowerPoints, provides detailed notes on most slides!
Professor Anand Kumar cares for his students and was very accommodating to my schedule. I say this class was good not great because your entire grade is based on 5 quizzes and 3 exams. If you are a good test taker I highly recommend this class. NO HOMEWORK or busy work assignments. simply learn the material and test. Easy A.
3 exams and 3 quizzes with no homework. I'm not even a good test taker but the exams were easy if you just study. His practice questions were just like the exam questions. He also gives a study guide listing everything on the exam, so as long as you make a quizlet and study from there, you will get a good grade. I never used the textbook.
This class is very easy and attending lectures is not necessary to earn an A. The grade is based on three exams and quizzes. The final exam is optional and can replace your lowest exam grade. All class PowerPoints are available on Canvas. Lectures can be a bit hard to follow and require focus, but they are not mandatory.
This class is really straightforward if you're good at tests. 3 50ish question exams with a bit of extra credit and 3 10-question online quizzes. I went to most of the lectures and enjoyed them. He just explains things with more detail from the PowerPoint, which is really helpful but not mandatory. I would definitely recommend!
Great professor and good TAs. Class is based off of 3 tests, taken in person on a scantron, and 3 online quizzes. Easy if you study just a little. Do not buy the textbook, its not necessary.
