Great Teacher.

Very fun, mellow open minded teacher. I recommend taking this prof for your philosophy needs.

My first Phil class, got a 103% in the class without doing last paper :) Easy and fun. Ananda makes the class very interactive, much discussion between students, she's fair and open-minded and accepts all comments. I would love to take another class with her. 1/2 the class scored 100% or better. Highly recommended!!

You will never have an instructor who is more prepared, pationate about you learning and experiencing as a student. She is awsome!

Ananda is awesome! She is a great communicator (emails, office hours, in class) and uses technology to the advantage of the students. Papers and tests are tedious but fairly easy if you do the readings and listen. Highly reccommend her for any class she teaches!!!

Ananda is a fun youthful teacher who uses criteria from the book, this way you do not feel like you wasted money on another book that was unneeded. I loved her class and you will too!!!!

she is really great, straight to the point and no beating around the bush. her class is not hard to the point you dread comming to class but it challenges you enough if this is your first philosophy class. trust me it was fun well as fun as class can be.

Prof. Spike is SO passionate about teacher and cares so much for her students. I'm so glad I took her class. I took a Phil 102B w/ another teacher and was bored out of my mind. She makes philo fun and interesting. I would take her again if I had to.

I really enjoyed taking this class. She is very cheerful and insightful. I like how she never came across as judgmental or biased when teaching this course. She is a GREAT teacher and I highly recommend her :)

Ananda is an awesome professor! If you attend all the classes and do the assignments, you will get an A in her class. Class sessions are always different, which makes the class unique. Attendance is a huge part of your grade, so you can't just blow this class off and not come. I would recommend this class to anyone because it opens your eyes! :)

GREAT CLASS! Passionate teacher who loves what she does. Never judgmental, always up to listening to her students. Always willing to help and actually reminds students of assignments that are due. You will always know what to expect and never feel confused about anything.

She Rocks! She has such a great personality a long with a unique style of teaching. I recognize this style and wish more professors used this form because; I was able to comprehend the material without getting too lost. And If I got lost she was always there to answer my questions. Ananda is the best professor I have had! Attendance is mandatory but as long as you do the homework and go to class you will get an A. You don't even need to read the book because her lectures are very informative. Take her class, its a great experience. Before I took her class I thought Philosophy was boring, and now I think the total opposite!

Ananda is an amazing teacher. She brings out the best with everyone in the class. She's been able to stimulate many great discussions between all of us in the class. Best of all, her approach to choosing and presenting material for the Critical Thinking class is inventive, accessible and fun. All of which makes it so easy to learn and understand.

if you want to take a college class, this is not it. you HAVE to come to class every single day. i missed one class because i was sick and missed out on 30 pts, even though she says not to come when youre sick. you are stuck with busy work almost everyday and she sends about 30 emails a week. reminds me of my high school classes.

OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR! She really goes above and beyond to show that she cares for her students. If you need to take a Philosophy class, I suggest you take this class. Professor is always on time and well prepared for the lecture. Lecture is very interesting!

Wow. One of the best teachers at Mesa. Lots of extra credit. Fun YouTube vids related to class. Group work fun also. She keeps you updated with emails but it's not like 30 emails a week like someone said before. I loved the emails, kept me on track with homework. Only two tests-very simple.come to class and do homework will give you a easy A+++

Who doesn't love to watch movies in class, and for homework. Professor spike makes philosophical points in new releases and older movies. I personally like how she incorporates video literacy in her teachings. So, bring your snacks and be curteous with the notice while you enjoy some flicks.

One of the best professors I've ever had while at Mesa College. Engaging and dedicated, her enthusiasm is contagious.

She is a great teacher! But if you ask a question, she might make it seem like it is a dumb one. She uses powerpoint which is wonderful and you can download it at home. She has lots of homework and her questions on the homework are a little repetitive. Online tests, and great teacher! You can tell she loves what she does. She's nice and funny too!

Good teacher. Enjoyed the class....not sure why the previous student said she makes you feel dumb for asking questions. She welcomed any questions. No question was a dumb question. So much information. Such an insightful class. All students should have at least one class from ms. Spike. Loved the class!

Honestly, Professor Spike is amazing. She's sweet, always on time with her lectures, and engages her students in class discussions. Show up on time, do your assignments, read the the chapters she assigns you, and participate in the class. I recieved an A+ by doing these things and so can you :-)

The class was really easy to pass and it was very interesting. The professor is nice but so annoying and unorganized. She sends an overwhelming amount of emails, even after the class is over. Her due dates were always wrong and always changing. Yet despite that I would still recommend the class.

Great class. Kind of easy, with lots of extra credit available. If you want an A you can and will earn it. Easy and fun what else can I say. Oh one thing, do not mess with Ananda before class starts. She is very busy and does not like to be disturbed before class. You get points and extra credit opportunities everyday so show up to class.

class brought up a lot of topics that people typically try and avoid. ananda facilitated good conversation and it is apparent that she LOVES her job. her passion for teaching should be contagious! The book was an article book which made it much easier to read.

Don't go to college and miss out taking her! Lot of assignments and lots of learning. Learn life in a new perspective. High recommend.

Great professor. Very organized and professional. You will write a lot in this class and there are a lot of assignments to keep up with, but she is very good about reminding you about due dates, etc. You will learn a lot and have fun in the process. Take her.

If you're going to take Philosophy get this teacher. She's very helpful and want's everyone to succeed. She has a passion for what she does. She makes it very interesting and has assignments and curriculum that ties in with your life. Very self-fulfilling class. Do the journals and you'll get an A. You'll look forward to every class!!

If you're lazy and don't like a lot of interesting homework, you might not like this class. If you have a passion for philosophy, I highly recommend her!

Ananda is a truly inspiring teacher. She has a great heart, great teaching and great views. She actively engages the students to make a difference in their lives and philosophical views. Her assignments seem monotonous but all for a good reason and it only requires in depth thinking for it to be successful.

I took her at Mesa and she was the best! Ananda was super friendly and even let me crash the class. I really enjoyed her class and we got to watch a lot of good movies and also reflect on pictures and things in real life. You need to buy a clicker but it makes class fun, and she really cares about her students, always keeping students engaged :)

Great professor, really passionate about philosophy. Uses a lot of news articles but that is important because gender issues can not just be read and she does an excellent job of showing how gender issues are revealing in today's world. Take her if you have the chance, really eye opening and changing, connects well with students.

Pros: easy A (work is not nearly as overwhelming as a typical phil class); Ananda is very open-minded and understanding; Ananda makes it very easy to be engaged in discussion and make friends in this class. Cons: clicker questions = you lose points if you don't attend; Ananda gets irritated if you don't stay the full class time

If you read this ananda, please don't let negative comments get you down, because there are way more good than bad ones. you're simply doing your job your way, and if someone doesn't like it then oh well, their loss. people will ALWAYS have something bad to say about teachers. so keep your chin up because you and your passion is greatly appreciated

If students were to learn about gender issues that people face on a daily basis they may see things differently. This class has opened my mind to want to learn more about people of all genders. You have to have a very open mind attending this class. Very liberal class with very liberal students. Mixture of content that deals with race, gender issues, feminism, social issues etc. If you are leaning more towards socialist concepts,feminism, idealism, or enjoy talking about your feelings this is the class for you. Not a class for everyone.

I took this Class only because it met my Humanities requirement. At first it started out great. Then Ananda starts relating everything about Gender to Race. Its a Gender Class. Not a race class. I will say race has alot to do with Gender today but She goes way over board. Overall Its an Easy A if you do the homework and show up to class.

Took this class seemed interesting and it was. She is a passionate teacher and loves opening peoples minds. I do think her req for FB friends is a bit much. She is a great person and very good at what she does but needs confirmation a lot. Class is simple and easy enough. Very open minded and liberal class, take full advantage. Times are changing!

An interesting class that makes you think outside the box. I highly recommend taking Professor Spike. She is very knowledgeable, keeps you interested, involved, and thoroughly informed. she's a great teacher with a great class that you learn a lot and think a lot. Easy A. The only bad thing, is shes part time at almost every san diego college, which makes her very short with her students through email etc. coming off extremely rude at times. She can be very sassy through emails. If you can deal with attitude, it's a great class.

She is an amazing professor that spiked my interest in something that I originally had no interest in. She made the class intriguing.The class is what you make of it. Easy A, work isn't hard and a lot of EC opportunity. Class consists of engaging discussions on current events, usually tying to the text. Ananda is a passionate professor, great at what she does. It might seems like she seeks validation sometimes, but she just wants to see all her students gain something from this class, which you definitely will.

Best teacher at Mesa. If you come to class with an open-mind you will totally enjoy it. Easy A if you keep up with the work. Never get bored in class she is an amazing teacher totally recommend this class.

It's a real fun class that will actually make you want to wake up to attend. The home is fun and actually make you evaluate your life a lot and look at things from a different perspective.

She is a great teacher, taking time to planning each class to make it as useful as possible for students. It was a relief to have this style of teaching for what can be a boring class. Ananda has made Phil100 a memorable experience and has gone down for one of my favorite teachers. The class has some work that needs to be done but it is worth it.

I liked that she always showed interest in going to class everyday even when she didn't feel so well. She's very nice and understanding. The class was a bit more of current news than about the class agenda, but overall I still enjoyed it. Easy A for sure.

Overall the class was very interesting and the use of the i-clickers made it interesting and made it more of a group effort. Her class was basic but overall one of my favorite classes that I had during the semester

This teacher is amazing. Unlike any teacher I have ever had. Philosophy can be difficult to understand but professor Spike teaches how to understand and use philosophy in every day life. Very few teachers can do what she does.

I had a high level of interest prior to the class and left with even a higher interest in it. The class was excellent, informative and the professor was phenomenal. You will be required to do tasks that can be time consuming because you will have to truly evaluate yourself and views; DO IT, it pays off. I recommend her over any other.

Awesome teacher who really cares about your grade & if someone gets confused or needs extra help, she always responds to emails as soon as she gets the chance. I learned many things in her class and it wasn't boring in anyway. she makes that extra effort to learn your name & remember you. [: homework & assignments are simple. Just pay attention!

I have taken 3 other philosophy before at different schools and i could never seem to grasp the material the way my other professors intended. However prof spike way of teaching was very diferent and much more helpful and just overall better. Hands down prof. Spike is the best philosophy teacher ive ever had.

What I have learned from Professor Spike is that “A mind is like a parachute. It only works when opened”. I have gained so much knowledge form her and I know that this is powerful it is something no one can ever take away for me. Ananda’s teaching has enriched my life and has encouraged me to want to make a difference in the world.

Philosophy is not an easy subject to teach, it can get boring and dry. The tools Professor Spikes utilizes motivate students and encouraged me to appreciate critical thinkers now more than ever. This is one of my favorite classes I have taken. I genuinely looked forward to it, and found myself doing the homework for this course before the homework for all my other courses. I doubt the class would have been as great if it wasn't taught by Professor Spike. She facilitates great conversation, cares deeply, and is an awesome teacher overall.

If you are considering taking any philosophy class but don't know which professor to choose, look no further, Professor Spike is the best! What you learn is this class stays with you for life! Spike is the bees knees, amazing lecturer, very passionate, insightful. The way she attacks the topics really makes you dig deep about life Go to every lecture if possible because you can't help but grow as a person, critical thinker, and philosopher. HW assignments are often but 90% of answers are from yourself not the book. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER.

Prof. Spike is AMAZING! There never was a class that I did not enjoy, she had some medical issues this semester which was beyond her control, but was always very prompt in letting us know, she is a very clear grader, and her assignments are not hard, her class wasn't one of those "Its a easy A but I really hate this class" & I would take her again

Ananda is a great professor. Granted the class is not as rigorous as some others, but it is philosophy and her relaxed vibe and open mind allowed all of us to be open as well. I would greatly recommend her ass if you have a desire toearn about philosophy. She is vibrant, kind and encouraging.

I though this was a pretty great class. The assignments and essays were pretty straight forward and they're somewhat easy to get a good a grade on if you follow the instructions. The class setup was always the same which I guess can be either good or bad depending on what you like. It was nice having no surprises. I thought Ananda was pretty great.

This professor and class rocks. There are assignments as it IS a college course and you ARE in school, but they are understandable and interesting. There are 2-3 papers with guidelines that make them kind of fun and not unbearable. You will learn a lot about yourself, philosophy, and you get to watch killer movies. This is your best option. Amazing teacher, will take again for PHIL102B. Assignments are easy, papers are graded fairly and there's not that much homework. There's a TON of extra credit, DO IT. I was able to forego an entire paper because I did most of it, and still got an A+. You'd literally have to TRY to not get an A. Best class I've ever taken for more than one reason.

This is was an awesome class with a interesting dedicated professor. The assignments aren't hard to do. The topics are very interesting and enlightening. Ananda is a passionate professor who teaches in a style that actually makes you want to come to class. I would defiantly recommend this professor for any course she teaches.

The classes are divided into a discussion of current gender-related events and lecturesgroupwork supplementing the textbook reading. Our class would get into long heated discussions (AMAZING + so fun) about the current events, & we spent so much time on it she dropped the textbook-based tests. Loved the textbook too tho we didnt use it much. A++.

Amazing professor! I love classes and her teaching style. I learned quite a bit in an extremely relaxed atmosphere. Some homework and a 2 essays other than that very relaxing class, and very informative. Would take her class again in a heartbeat.

Great professor!! If you are there every class you'll eventually get extra points. She applies the course to events that are occurring around the world! Changed how I view the news. Absolutely would take any of her classes again! You won't regret taking her!

Professor Spike has really interesting lectures and opened my mind to other points of view. She made sure everyone participated by utilizing a remote clicker to follow along to the slides and she was really clear about her expectations from students.

You actually learn something practical to your life. She is prepared for every classes and gives you tons of extra credit! There are only two online exams. Love her! Definitely recommended!

Ananda is great. Lectures cover current events and important general information and allows for a lot of great discussions. She facilitates classroom discussions in a way that benefits everyone. She awards those who show up and participates but doesn't punish those who don't. Easy papers, easy homework, easy reading. Least stressful, most fun.

Incredible instructor, passionate, humble, entertaining, relevant, real, kind & really cares about her students. Classes stress free environment, everyones opinion is respected and considered. There is plenty of time to understand the course material before tests. I think of her as a mentor and friend and I am thankful for being her student.

Ananda was my first philosophy professor and I hope to have her again in the future. Philosophy is my favorite discipline, one that I like to explore recreationally and academically. She provided the structure I needed to learn properly rather than haphazardly. Class is always enjoyable and every student has the opportunity to get a word in.

Very engaging class, i enjoyed coming to class everyday. She grades extremely easy. You have to try to get anything less than a B. You can miss class every one in awhile, but class participation is a large percent of your grade. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a gpa booster

It was my favorite class . Makes you aware about what's going on in the world , really ingesting lectures . You will learn a lot . She gives lot of extra credit if you needed and all the homeworks is really interesting to do . I totally recomend this teacher .

Ananda is a wonderful teacher who is there for the student. The class was in the summer for 5 weeks and not one day was boring. The class is interesting and students actually learn and get the grade they deserve. Just do your work and yyou will pass.

TAKE ANANDA! She is the best teacher out there no doubt. I haven't seen a professor so passonate about their major as Ananda. I took 102A from her and recieved 103%, so I decided to take her 102B course too. Really makes you find ointerest in the topics. So dedicated to teaching, despite her sometimes feeling sick. No bad things to say about her.

This is a very easy class. Just do the work, show up, and participate and you're guaranteed an A. She's very nice and loves to talk about current events so keep up to date on what's happening in the news so you can also join in and talk to get participation points. You don't need the book much I just used the one in the library to do the homework.

Professor Spike is quite inspiring. She makes learning about philosophy enjoyable because of how much she is passionate about the subject. YES, she may extend due dates often, however know that NO teacher would do that. Ananda cares enough for her students to pass her class which is why she does that. TAKE HER CLASS! Rate 10/10
