Ananda was a great teacher! She knows her Humanities. Her class is very entertaining, she does a fun trivia game as review before an exam. The online quizzes are easy if you do the study guide and read assigned sections. There wasn't really any homework for her class. I would highly recommend her class.

Ananda was fantastic! She made the material fun and enjoyable. There is always lots to do but the work is easy. There is no reason to not pass this class! I would recommend her to anyone.

PHIL 101, 106 AND HUM 104. Great instructor who has a passion for teaching. That is why I came back to her for more classes. I was grateful that what I learned in her classes was so useful on a recent trip to the Middle East. I am looking forward to her teaching more classes so I can take them.

After taking this class, she encouraged many of the students to delve deeper into the subject based on their own interpretation of life. Simply put, this professor is thought provoking with her style of teaching while in essence allowing the students to build more on understanding the philosophies catering to the lifestyles that we build.

Ananda is very organized and puts tons of extra effort in making the class interesting. Give plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Also sends out e-mails containing due dates for assignments. As long as you do the work there is no reason why someone shouldnt get an A.

Ananda explains material thoroughly to be understandabe to contemporary society.The classroom environment she creates among her students is well structured, encouraging students to particapate and also being eager to attend class.

Let the statistic speak for itself! 40 students and 18 had an A+ as the final grade. That is almost HALF the class! Ananda's teaching style is simple & clear. Exams & papers are easy, lecture is NOT boring & lots of extra credit work and great visual aid like short movie clips & pics. She is fun and just grabbed my attention the entire class time.

Amazing class that really opens up your eyes to other religions and helps you to truly understand deep concepts of other religions. Very thorough class, with fun exercises, good readings and group projects, as well as interested videos relating to religion.

An 8 week course must be difficult to teach well, but Ananda was well organized and energetic. I learned more from this class than most others and I will definitely take a class from this professor again! There are a few essays, but they are very to-the-point and definitely reinforce knowledge, making for better performances on the tests.

the only reason why i took this class was because she was teaching it, i had for phil 101, and it was fun. she is very organized and very knowledgeable, she also has a ph.d but never brags about it. i highly recommend her, she makes learning fun. and her class is easy, but with the easiness she still pounds knowledge into you and you retain it.

Great subject, she's clear about the material, and goes the extra mile to make the most confusing subjects easier to understand, Power point, Youtube Vids, very interesting class, Im glad I crashed it.

If you do your work, participate in class, and turn in everything she will give you an A. Testing is so easy! and in general she loves to watch movies inside the classroom... makes you learn at least the 3 greatest philosophers. THATS ALL!

Almost over with the semester, It is easy, she does great lectures. Uses non- boring power points, As she starts speaking everyone interacts in the conversation. Only Humanities class I have ever taken, and I loved it. The tests(3),are the "hardest" part of the class, but you get a notecard that you can write on to use on each test. This is the class to take if you want over 100% overall.

Just finished the summer semester with her today, and I have to say she is by far the best teacher I have had in three years. She is very knowledgeable and if yo have a question she has no answer for, she will the next class. She is a great teacher and person and would reccomend her for any class she teaches. If you like to have discussion ancient civilizations and basic early religions and philosophy then this is your class. She tends to give a lot of class movies and clips on the chapter topic. She gives a lot and I mean a lot of extra credit I pass the class with a +A and I wasn’t even trying at all.Trust me you will love this class and Mrs.Spike.

This is a great instructor. She is very knowlegeable and enthusiastic about teaching. Her classes are interesting and she really encourages student participation. The HW was a bit intense during the short summer session, but I learned a lot.I regret the one class session that I missed. Highly recommned her to others.(She is also very organized.)

Out of all my classes I took I feel this was my most interesting and favorite classes I ever took at Southwestern besides Psychology and Engineering. The instructor was knowledgeable and fun to listen to and learn from. I'm glad I took her course.

Taking this class at first I thought was going to be boring and very dull. This was by far my favorite calss this semester! Ananda makes this class interesting and fun. Online summer course,lots of work in short amount of time. Daily DB even on Sat/Sun,two 5 page research papers, weekly homework/quizzes & news article sharing. Don't slack on your work/readings & you will be fine. Phil is interesting but tough topic online. I think it would've been better to take in class. Prof Spike is cool though wish I met her.

I really enjoyed both this class, and the philosophy class I had taken last semester with Ananda. She is a great, dedicated teacher and one can tell that she is very passionate about what she teaches. She loves doing it. I found her very helpful, and also very understanding when i was going through a few difficult times in life. She inspired daily.

I'd strongly recommend this professor. She's extremely helpful, and you can tell she cares about her students. If you show up, and do the work, I don't see why you shouldn't get an 'A' in the class. Very knowledgeable but rarely lectures, most classes were spent watching youtube documentaries and Bruce lee videos. Exams are straightforward but expect to read the book yourself to learn a majority of the class material.

Awesome class and an awesome professor. She's totally nice, funny, knowledgeable in the subject, and willing to help her students. All you need is the textbook and a clicker. Effort is needed, but it's not a hard class. Her lectures/powerpoints help, but the assignments are all from the book.

I actually went to this professor because of her ratings, absolutely amazing teacher she is so involving in every lecture you are guaranteed never to be bored in this class,& she teaches a lot from outside sources not just the assigned textbook. Homework assignments, exams and papers are fairly easy! definitely taking another class with her :)

Class was amazingly fun, there was online and textbook work. Essays were weird since there is no specific topic.Professor is very nice and explains things well.She can side track herself and bring up other stuff that relate but everything connects. Overall take this professor,she'll help and understands that we have issues that arise.

Class can sometimes get sidetracked, but on that note- it's actually a great type of sidetracking. We learn about real world events as opposed to sticking to the textbook. I really enjoyed this course and i learned a lot about philosophy! Great online class it helped me to critically think and view myself and the world from a different perspective for the good. All the assignments were a learning experience and very clear especially the journals. thank you professor spike your a great teacher and ignore the negatives

She was possibly the most inspirational professor I have ever had. She really gives you the option to get a lot of extra credit, especially if you really try when it comes to the journals and papers. Really enjoys to teach and gives that vibe. As long as you can keep up with the work and give thoughtful answers, you should be good.

I took this class as a fast track class expecting my 3 hour classes to be terrible but Ananda made it so awesome!! I enjoyed this class so much she's one of the best professors I've had! I'm actually taking here ethics class online this semester! Amazing professor and awesome class!

Very rigorous 16 day course, but it was fun! She's cool. She makes you think outside the box.

I took Professor Spike for World Mythology, I passed the class with an A+, everything was pretty straight forward and she knew a lot about everything that she said in class, she uses iClicker for participation in class and there's only about 3 Tests and they are done thru blackboard online. This is the best class that I have ever been in my life.

Good professor. Very accommodating whenever an issue presents itself. Also helpful as she gives helpful feedback. A lot of extra credit. Fair grader. Would take again. The class itself does teach you how to think differently.

I took the 8 week course so it was fast paced, a few assignments due each week, but the assignments were easy and quite interesting.

I took this course as a online fast track course spring 2016 so there was lots of reading but WORTH IT. I loved this class and it has helped me to socially understand myself and people. But I won't get philosophical right now. Professor Spike is awesome and you can definitely talk with her. You won't regret taking this class.

LOVED this class! Mythology has never really been an interest of mine and I was hesitant to take this class, but Ananda makes the material very easy to understand and interesting. She incorporates current events into lecture and keeps discussion flowing. Tests are online and straight-forward. Cannot recommend this class/professor enough!

All semester Professor Spike was patient, supportive, respectful, and understanding. She will definitely put her foot down if you try to take advantage, so I suggest you don't and you work hard. She does give a lot of work but she gives extra credit if she sees that you put real effort. She was a wonderful and interesting teacher. I learned a lot.

I really needed this class to graduate and transfer to Chico State, and she let me in and open up the blackboard discussion so I can get caught up on work. I can't lie she gave my class a lot of work to do in 8 weeks, but the work was fun and I could relate to the subjects. Overall she is a cool teacher BTW I hate doing hw, but it was cool with her

Super nice, cares about the subject. Expect a potluck and a class picture. She makes the class fun. She works off powerpoints and video clips. Homework and tests not bad, just read the text.

I truly enjoyed taking her class and was incredibly motivated by the end of the 4 weeks! She is really easy to talk to about topics and understands her students. You wont regret taking her class!

Great class with lots if options to score highly. The content was interesting, and was my favorite class of the semester.

Awesome online instructor. I really learned a ton from this course, and she makes awkward subjects we have to talk about easy to approach (like euthanasia). She is really down to earth and easy to get ahold of. You can text, email, or even Facebook her lol. There is no reason you can't pass her class, as she gives a ton of extra credit.

I took Professor Spike for an online class. I learned a lot and it was very easy to follow along. It was a lot of reading of articles and watching videos and commenting on it but it usually pretty easy to do. It is a very eye opening class and you will learn a lot from professor Spike.

This class is interesting. We talk about a lot of topics which are intriguing. The assignments get your thoughts flowing so that's great. There's discussion boards and articles to read every week but it's not difficult at all. She gives A LOT of extra credit so if you don't pass this class... something must be wrong with you. Easy A for sure.

REALLY REALLY LOVED THIS CLASS. Even if you dont need this class to graduate you have to take this class because it will change your life. I swear. I learned a lot. Changed my perspective in a lot of things, but I learned so much from this class that I am comfortable that I will take a lot with me because I have better understanding of the world.

This is a relatively easy class but requires good time management to stay on track for assignments and quizzes. Professor Spike is quite engaging and this class will challenge your closely held beliefs on a host of ethical issues. Professor Spike encourages the class to post articles on various subjects so you get to learn more about your world.

You can get plenty of points from extra credit assignments. It is fairly easy to get an A on the course. You need to be prepared to do lots of homework.

Ananda is an absolutely great Prof. who is very understanding with what is happening in your life. Do all your work and you will pass, not hard at all. There will be a lot of DB. Reason I didn't get an A is because I didn't do all the work. She does offer a lot of EC as well, so if you missed some assignments those will defiantly help you out.

Professor Spikes is amazing! She always responds promptly to any question you may have , shes understanding, all of her assignments are detailed, she provides a ton of resources, she gives extra credit opportunities, and shes fair.

She pushes you enough to think about the assignment but not so difficult you'll struggle. Very understanding and gives MANY opportunities for extra credit. It's okay to miss a few assignments since you can make up for it. She gives credit when its due and gives EC points for students who give detailed answers on assignments.

Lots of discussions and homework, BUT there's plenty of extra credit! The topics were interesting and she let's you voice your opinion. The due dates sometimes change, but overall, this class was a lot of busy work but interesting and doable! I would recommend her!

I really enjoyed taking Ms. Spikes class. It was a fast-track course so it was very intense and there was a lot of h.w. However, I would take her class again because she was very respectful and very communicative. She also worked with me at one point when I was falling behind in the class. She is great with communicating and is willing to help if you ask. Take her if you want to put in the work while also learning a lot of material.

Sure, she's considered easy by all, but you have to take in mind that she gives lots of homework each week that some might not be able to handle it at all. However, she's also a very merciful professor that gives plenty of extra credit during the semester, and she also moves the deadlines further by some days of the original deadline sometimes.

One of the best Online Philosophy classes I've ever taken. Not going to lie, it takes work, but if you manage your time you won't have a problem. You get extra credit. Expect to engage in class. Professor Spike is a wonderful teacher, she is caring, and communicates well with her students.

This isnt my first philosophy class, yet it was the easiest one. Yes, she does give a LOT of homework, but its doable. Lots of discussion boards, homework assignments and news articles, but thats basically it. Yes we do write the ocasional paper, but Its not much and shes an easy grader. Not to mention she extends deadlines + shes very nice!

Lots of homework since it's a fast course! However, super easy and understandable. So many opportunities for extra credit over the whole course time. So caring and understandable. Definitely the best teacher over all. She is a good grader not though at all.

Honestly, this class was not hard. It is just time consuming. Professor Spike is a very understanding teacher and gives out more than enough extra credit. As I come to an end to the summer class for Philosophy 101 with Professor Spike, I really wanted to show my gratitude toward her by writing this. She is very understanding, and the work is clearly laid out prior. So, unless you are a lazy student, take the class. It is relatively easygoing and should be an easy A.

This is not like any other philosophy class you'll take! The assignments aren't about memorizing facts, it is about understanding who we are as people. That's what makes it easy to complete the assignments. Prof Spike is an amazing person that cares about you as a person. She will change your life in this class if you involve yourself in the class.

Professor Spike is very caring and offers many extra credit assignments. This class is very time consuming as we do get somewhat of assignments but they are easy. I do not know why people complain about the workload, she states this course is not for those with many commitments outside of school. Definitely recommend this professor.

I want to start by saying ignore all her negative reviews. Those were lazy people. Her class is legit the easiest. It is tons of homework but its doable its all based on our opinions. She is not a tough grader and also gives a extra credit every week. Her topics would make me think more critical and in depth. She states that it is not 4 lazy ppl.

Her class is homework heavy so if that's something you don't think you can deal with don't take her class. She's not a tough grader+her homework isn't super hard. And she does care about her students, I think our class had a hard time with the work load and she reduced it to 4-5 assignment a week. I personally like her but I get why others wouldn't

I took Professor Spikes class during the summer session and she is a great professor since this class was a fast past class there are a lot of assignments but nothing hard. Everything is based on chapter discussions, article assignments, and short answer chapter homework assignments. She provides so much extra credit which is a plus.

Ananda Spike is a superb example of what a good teacher should be her class was exciting and dynamic. I loved her course I felt as if it opened my mind to being a wiser thoughtful and understanding human being. She provided many avenues to reach out to herself through the Remind app email and was a constant source of motivation and positivity.

I honestly think this was not only the most interesting and enlightening class I have ever taken. I am a high school student and still managed heavy work load from school and this class perfectly. She gives extra credit opportunities every week and is very open. Every question or concern that I had she answered.I strongly recommended this class.

This online class taught me so much from the material she offered. It really makes you think and help you become a better thinker and person overall, I truly enjoyed doing the work for this class. You get a lot of assignments per week however, but it's manageable and can be done in a few hours if you're really interested in the content.

I took the online/async course. Work was mainly LOTS of discussion boards asking your opinion on the textbook material, and making "study guides" with Canva. No exams but 2 essays, both fairly easy. Gives lots of EC and will bump you if you show effort. Overall very straightforward class, great choice to clear a graduation/gen-ed requirement.

Professor Spike is an incredible professor and extremely caring for students well being. Her textbook is free for students and her class structure includes discussion posts and you creating study guides on things learned from lectures and readings. Very understandable work and a very fun class that can be done if you put in the work.

Professor Spike provides plenty of opportunities to earn extra credit. She provides students with plenty of extra credit assignments and even awards extra points on any assignment if it is evident that a student put a good amount of effort into it. If you stay on top of your work and go above the bare minimum, then you will pass.

I took PHIL 101 this summer with Prof. Spike, and while the work load was a bit heavy, the material was so interesting and fun. She provided the textbook material, and she laid out the class in a way that was easy to follow and engaging. My favorite parts were the discussion boards and study guides. Even though it was a lot, I loved this class.

This was one of the most interesting courses, well paced and most educational.

After completing the course, I can say that Professor Spike was informative in her teachings and the assignments given were doable. She gives a thorough overview of all the topics, gives extra credit, and has check-ins to see how students are doing in their lives as well as if they need help with anything in the course.

I loved that she goes out of her way to know students on a personal level through quarterly 'check in' assignments; clear choice for academic recommendation! Will notice and recognize students who put in extra effort - so do your part to excel in this class. It's tough due to the 'accelerated' workload and if you have FT STEM classes - but doable.

At first, I was a bit overwhelmed with the workload since I was taking 15 units and working full time. The professor does assign a lot of homework, but none of the assignments were very difficult. For those with good time management, it is very possible a good grade in her class.

The work load seems heavy in the beginning but the flow is good and easy to get the hang of - workload does decrease over time a bit. Plenty of extra credit and time given for work- can easily pass if the work is put in. Great experience and professor!

Overall, Professor Spike was great! The class structure was set out from the beginning of semester with no surprises. She went above and beyond during the semester to check in with students to see how we were doing in school and in our personal lives, and offered loads of extra credit!

She is a great and amazing teacher! I took her for HUM140 and had no problems.Yes she gives out a couple assignments per week but they are very easy/quick to do. As long as you complete everything listed in the assignment you will be golden. She is very kind and sends our reminder emails every week of all assignments due that week. Highly recommend

I agree that there were many assignments, but this professor gives lots of extra credit if it seems like you go above and beyond with your work. You could get away with not doing some assignments and still pass with an A if you received a lot of extra credit. Time management is essential, especially if you're a full-time student or also work.

Put in the work get the grade, simple as that. This class has a lot of busy work and definitely would not take with a full load. Would not purchase the textbook as I never used it once. Her grading can vary from assignment to assignment but there is extra credit in the last week to bump up your grade at the end of the course.

Fantastic course under passionate guidance of Prof. Ananda. Focus on the material and get ready to expand your knowledge and you be fine! Be open minded, don't use AI and get ready to write and express your point of view if you want a good grade!

Obviously, like any other 8 week online class, it is Hw and writing heavy. Modules are consistent, plan ahead and research in advance. Responds quickly. Don't use AI. She prefers reading work that is truly written by you, and you will earn better grades than with grammatically perfect AI-reconstructed sentences. Express yourself.

This class was great though it gives a little too much work but what made it easier was that the answers could be creative and not in a certain criteria. Ananda was a good professor, lectures were understable even when it came to Ai she gave multiple warnings not to use it, overall this was a good class.
