everyting seems chill until her tests come... then its a nightmare.
The professor is very helpful and explains the material clearly, but her test can be tricky and she is very generous in lab i would take her again if she taught bio210B.
great teacher, cares a lot about her students. she's fun in lab and encourages you to interact. works really hard to get you prepared for the tests and offers study guides. research paper, but you get almost the whole semester to do it. Really sweet, if she taught another class, she'd be my first pick.
Exams are very hard. I would study for hours and still fail exams. Before this semester I had a 3.73 GPA but recieved my first C in this Class. She is a nice lady but I dont take courses because the profesor is nice. If you want a nice profesor take this class, if you want a not too difficult class dont take this one!!!
bio is always a difficult subject. She will help you if you ask. But in the end, just have to read the chapters and study them well. I highly recommend doing the chapter questions at the end of each chapter. Oh, by the way pass me the M&Ms. I wish she taught 210b, I would have taken her class.
Loves to hear herself talk, she'll even admit it. Pretty much summarizes the text in her lectures. Tricky questions on tests but good curve and offers xtra credit. Research paper is a joke...just write the paper and you should get full credit. Lab...she talks an hr before you can even start. I got an A but the class could have been much better.
Her exams can be difficult at times but she's very good at explaining the subject to students. Very organized and straightforward. Keep up with the readings from the book. Labs are fun and she's very helpful! Would definitely take another class (BIO 210B?) that she teaches.
I just wanted to post that I think she's HOT! I have a huge crush on this lady. Professional, humorous and down to earth.
its true she is extremely nice and u cant help but like her, but when she explains things its all formulas and analitical talk , sometimes hard to understand her lectures ,,, and tests wowwww hard i read every chapter ... every word and still failed all tests highest was a 70% and iam a good student!
This class took a lot of time but it's DOable. This is the best professor for bio because she's very organized and very helpful but very strict when it comes to turning in work ON TIME. Her exams are a bit hard but hey, bio is hard period. I agree with the other raters...if she was to teach bio 210B I would definitely take her again.
Overly wordy and unclear. Talks for an hour before starting the lab. Lectures strictly from the text via powerpoint slides which she reads word for word, homework is all from the text and exams / quizes are nearly irrelevant to the info that she covered. I don't recomend taking a class whith this instructor, I wish I hadn't.
AWSOME!!! very cool, down to earth, and professional...and cute. I got an A but had to work for it! She values hard work and will help you to understand if you are lost, GO TO OFFICE HOURS! Labs are easy, tests are 50 multiple choice, 2 short answer, and an essay. The tests can be difficult but DO THE STUDY GUIDE and the test will be easier.
I really enjoyed this class. The class was challenging, but if you study accordingly, you will do well. She is always willing to help if you need it. The class can be very demanding at times. She also curved some of the test scores which helped out much of the class. An overall sweetheart.
One of the best professors I've had.
I hate this class after one week and I got A's in chemistry. I feel lost. The homework is hard and does not follow the text of the class book. Her lectures are unhelpfull, right out of the text book!
Notes not clear, they are all usually all over the place. She doesn't explain the material well. Grades hard! Good luck!
Teaching is not her forte. Her notes and study guide are mostly useless for the exams. You need to do a lot of studying on your own. Good luck!
This is a difficuly class but she is probably the best professor to teach it.She is very strick and really wants you to know this. Its very helpful if you are going into anythign that might involve bio.it would be easier if it was recommended to take bio 107 first.i wish she was teaching 210B
She is a wonderful teacher. If you don't understand the material, she is more than willing to help you understand it. Attendance is very important, and so is turning things in on time. Working hard in this class is key.
I took this course last semester. It was alot of work, but so worth it. She is extremely helpful and will spend extra time to help you understand the material. Honestly less than I expected for a college level bio course. Essays on every test but will let you choose AND tells you in advance the choices. Very organized and has a beautiful smile.
She is not as hard as everyone says, if you do all the work, attend class and read the book, the class is really not that hard at all. She is kind of a perfectionist though, and can easily take points during the writing part of tests. Overall, I enjoyed her class and I would definitely take her again. Just make sure to keep your graded work.
I like Biology, but I hated this class. This instructor has no aptitude for teaching and no love of the subject. If you absolutely have to take her class, follow the study guides to the letter and plan on doing a lot of homework. The labs are interesting, at least.
Awesome! She is a great professor- very helpful and understanding.
The class is hard and she makes it worse by making the exams so hard that the average score on the exam is D or F. She is helpful BUT you have to give in alot of efforts.
very hard.not recommend.Take this course with someone else.
The worst class ever for Biology
Got an A in the class. The tests make the class hard but read the chapters and understand the concepts. It's just a lot of material you're seeing for the first time and remembering it that makes it difficult. Attend the lectures cuz notes are useful and concise. Turn things on time. Up to 20 pts of extra credit are available. Very approachable lady
Prof. B. was great. Lectures were well organized. She cares about her students and makes herself available to help out. The open-book exams were tougher than the closed book exams! There is a lot of material to learn during this course, consider yourself warned. But, her class is good preparation for classes you'll take after transferring.
She LOVES bio and you can tell in her lectures. A lot of work but I had no interest before and she made it interesting. Exams are not easy but not insane. Pop quizes to make sure you're reading. Homework on every chapter(w/ ans key in the back) Not an easy A but doable.
Dr. Brahmbhatt is an incredible professor. The material is difficult and she expects a lot from her students, but if you show her that you are committed to doing well in her class, she will respect you and treat you like a colleague. She's fair, considerate, sociable, intelligent, and downright adorable!
concept based class.she is a very nice person.but u cant ace her tests just by memorising definitions or concepts.half her tests are application questns, other half short essays which are fairly graded.lectures dont help much because the PPS are figs from the book.drop rate is really high.average on tests is mostly a C or D.i wudnt recommend her.
hard class and a teacher that makes it even worse. but she is an approachable person. not a good teacher
Professor Brahmbhatt is very clear in her explanations. Uses lots of power points. Posts short answer questions online for the upcoming test. Extra credit opportunities. Weekly quiz but she tries to change it up with activities where participation earns full credit. Go to class, do the homework and ask questions. Very helpful and ALOT of info.
Nice enough person. Offers EC. REALLY TOUGH lecture tests, though. Good thing she drops one. 2 Formal lab reports, worth lots of points. 3 lab tests, not too hard if you study. Overall, good prof if you can devote lots of time to studying.
She's a very nice person but tough. 10 quizes, 5 big exams that include short essays. You'll learn a lot but to get an A you need also put a lot of work. Good class, if you plan to take higher level biology classes in the future.
People who do not do well in her class obviously do not know how to study or do not study enough in general. I do admit that she is tough, but tough means that you will be rewarded later for all your hard work, especially bio majors. She has 4 tests and does not drop any, but she give 20 points ex-credit and 200 points in homework. Hard work = A
Great teacher and very helpful!
If you want a good grade it's up to you to study! It doesn't come easy in this class. She is down to earth, fun, and overall a good professor. She goes out of her way to help you (if you ask) and is enthusiastic about her students and material. I would definitley take another class again with her.
If your not takin any other classes and can only focus on her class and have no life then yes this class is for you. She almost made me drop my major until i found another Bio Professor at Miramar. Don't recommend her at all. if you want to do good in this class go to Miramar.
this class will take all your time with lots of busy work, which doesn't help for your studying. Please dont take this class if you need to maintain good GPA. You will end up wasting time for studying other classes and still get a bad grade.
Prof.Brahmbhatt tries to help students and give some extra credit points. She also tries to make some activities for lab to interest students. But her lecture covers too much without pointing what is most important. Lectures are so boring and mono-toned usually filled with powerpoint slide reading.
she's soo sweet and nice and very very helpful. she gives extra points and curves exams. people who complain about this class do not study. yes it is a lot of work and yes u have to read the book. if you dont want to invest that time then take something else
Dr. Brahmbhatt was one of the best professor's that I have in my six years here at Mesa. Her power points are detailed and the exam study guides are the best that I have seen. She is hard and expects nothing but your best work, but she is fair and willing to help if you ask.
She marks off point if you miss class unless you been to the Doc. She posts up "Short Answer Questions" on black bored and the questions are exactly the same, all you need to do is answer them yourself and remember them for the Test. its worth 50% of the test. That should be easy. but the other 50% of the test is Multiple questions- pretty hard.
A great professor. Lectures are clear and very organized, as is the lab. She expects a lot of of her students, so study hard. She also offers a lot of extra credit to those who struggle with the material. Overall I would recommed her, but be prepared to work for your A. She also takes points off for lateness or cutting so DO NOT Do Either!
crystal clear guidelines & a great teaching style. Class is very structured & you know what to expect. Attendance is mandatory. Quizzes every 3 or 4 classes (but helped me stay on top of the material.) 50% of unit exams are short answer questions you attain before the class. Great prof that prepares u for other science classes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER!! There is A LOT of work, but it's easy busy work - get it done, attend class and you will have no difficulty getting a B in the class. Study what she tells you to study for the tests and you will get an A. She will help you with anything you have questions about! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! My favorite college professor ever!!
I love her teaching method. The low raters are probably just slackers who do not study hard enough. It is a touch class, but I assure you this teacher will help you get through it smoothly.
I've never had a professor take off points for missing class, until taking class with Brahmbhatt, and I've been attending Mesa College for 4 years. I think it's ridiculous because this is College not Highschool and since we pay to go there we should miss class when we want to. I received my first C in all my 4 years here because of her!
I thought they tests were fairly easy. You just have to actually to the homework in the study guide and you'll be fine. I was probably only one out of a few students who didnt just copy the answers from the back. Shes nice enough but the lectures are dreadfully boring. She teaches right out of the book so i didnt have to read much.
I regreet I took this class
Agreed with previous comment that low raters are probably slackers. The subject contains a LOT of material, so be warned. That's hardly Dr. B's fault though. There's a lot of preparation necessary for her tests, but if you actually do the prep, you will score well. Frankly, the only way to do poorly is be lazy. It's a science class, not a vacation.
Amazing,Amazing,Amazing.Lectures are crystal clear. She goes by the book.Use her office hours.Material is not difficult but be ready to read for hours. If not you will do poorly and fail. Her labs are also fun and she is more than willing to clarify questions.Take her,I learned so much. You will too if you put in the time.
Good teacher but she is really ruff on the grading!! Next to impossible to get an A! Be prepared to study your butt off if you want a challenge shes your girl! Its sink or swim but if you swim you will have learned ALOT!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dr. B! Took her for micro lab and she is an amazing professor. Very organized and provides you w/ the tools you need to succeed. Just go to class, do the labs, take notes and you will do well. Its a science class, so never a gimmee, but I really liked this lab and she is super helpful. Don't nd the lab book.
The class is clear. You know what you need to turn in, you know whats going to be on the exam, she uses the clickers in class which also helps because you become familiar with the way multiple choice will be worded. She is always there to help and is very genuine person. Make sure u pay attention in class!
Fantastic class. Br. B. is very clear on what she wants you to learn and what you will be tested on. She reinforces the key ideas very well and helps you learn a lot. Very intelligent and eager to help students succeed.
I always had a hard time with bio until I took her class. Her lectures are fun and interesting, hw is easy, and gives extra credit. Her tests can be hard but as long as you keep up with your HW, attendance, and extra credit...you're almost guaranteed at least a B. I really learned a lot from her.
Excellent professor :) She's clear, thorough, and very nice to her students. Her tests aren't easy as cake, but they were fair. Probably learned more in her class than any other biology course. TAKE HER!
Lets be clear on this. If you want to pass BIO 210A, do not take her class. Exams are rough, doesnt drop a grade and does not curve. Just had our 1st exam and 2/3s of class failed. Lectures are pointless but attendance is apart of your grade. But she is a nice person :)
This class is insane. Don't take her. It's horrible. Boring lecture and the lecture didn't even apply to the exam. Who does essay questions for bio?
Felt confident about my last exam. Studied hard, read the text, looked over lecture notes, BRAAAHM! i got a c -. Class average 68% on last test. Memorize everything if you want a B or C, bc that's what she expects. Haha goodluck guys!
This professor has ridiculous expectations, uses her bio labs to LECTURE even though you get ONE UNIT for a 3 hour lab. Her exams are based off the textbook, anything is fair game. She goes into too much depth, assigns too much homework, and will not give you the time of day if you want to ask her a question. AVOID.
VERY DIFFICULT TESTS. She takes attendance. Make sure you memorize EVERY SINGLE DETAIL because it will show up on the exam! She's one of those professors that give the "choose the BEST answer" when there are two correct answers. The only thing is that she is fair. Gives study guide and essay questions prior. Is clear on her HIGH expectations.
I swear she writes all her own positive reviews. if you have a photographic memory, this class is for you.
Good reviews are prob coming from students prepping for grad school in sciences. Like them, be ready to devote a lot of your time to this class. There is a ton of busy work on top of the demand for studying. Her tests are very difficult with no drops, but she does offer extra credit. Extremely tough class--I feel much more prepared for grad school.
Love her! No this is not Dr. B writing either. She is extremely helpful if you want to learn! The class is not easy. Attandence is a must. She is a great teacher despite all these other reviews.
If youre taking her class, be prepared to put the work in. whatever work you put in is exactly what you'll get out of it. she wants you to really get the concepts and understand it. if you're complaining about her class, then you probably should not be a science major. really helpful prof. really learned what i needed to.
Students, this professor is the most helpful in the dept. This is college, so be prepared to study. I got an A by doing everything she saiD
Dr.B One of the hardest teacher, do not take her class because she is not help full teacher. if you are a person who work and take her class forget it you will fail the class for sure. so she is not a kind of professor for biology class. you better search another pro.
Micro bio isn't easy, but she is a fantastic prof and very helpful. She expects you to work hard, and is clear on how success can be achieved. Do the work!
A lot of work. Show up for class and take notes. I mean, copy down what she writes on the board! Weekly quizzes help you keep up with the reading and homework. Test multiple choice are DIFFICULT and essay questions she gives 5 beforehand and chooses 2. But you have to be very detailed in the essay. Overall, learned a lot! Take her!
i barely passed this class.she is nice, but the material is hard.first test open book.
Brahmbhatt is the best biology teacher at mesa, hands down. Many people complain about her class because biology isn't an easy subject, but if she is the best if you want an A. All essay questions on tests are given in advance! It's so simple if you study. Reading the book is MANDATORY for an A!
I highly recommend taking Bio 210A with Prof. Brahmbhatt. For a first-level class, the subject material is very difficult. Prof B, however, has a great lecture, you learn a lot from attending. She is clear about what you need to know for the tests and quizzes. Go to class, read the book, make flashcards, study, and you'll do great!
Dr. B is like the only lab professor i like in mesa! she is really nice and helpful! she really made micro bio fun for me ! I really enjoy having micro lab with her!
I was also taking Chem200 with lab, Psych258, and Math122. I definitely spent the most time studying for this class, but it wasn't excessive. I earned As in this and my other classes. Fantastic professor; the best at Mesa for Biology. I wish she taught Bio210B. I would take her again; I would recommend you taking her. Read the book; it's readable.
She is one of the best teachers I've ever had. The class demands a lot of studying but her concise lectures make it all understandable and interesting. If you want an easy A, this class is NOT for you. If you are a science major and enjoy learning, she is the best and will prepare you for future classes.
Absolutely one of the best! The material covered is challenging and she does not make much easier. She teaches everything that you need to know for exams. Pay attention, take good notes, and study hard. I earned an A and so can you. She is very helpful in office hours and via email.
Worse teacher on campus. She claims she is there to help but doesn't. She is NEVER at her office hours and she is boring as hell!! I would NOT ever take a class with her!! Spare yourself the agony.
Professor B is such a great teacher! She really is there for you if you are interested in getting an A and in the material. She is funny and makes class enjoyable! you could deff. get an A if you try and not miss any assignments! Was taking Chem 200 and Trig. when i took this class and i deff. studied for this class the most. recommend to take:)
She is very nice and funny. As long as you are competent and you take good notes, it is a breeze to pass her lab quizzes and practicals. She is also a lenient grader. Do the work and you'll pass.
If you are going into the science field this is the professor for you. She is an amazing and kind professor. Extremely helpful in every way. Make sure to read the book and attend her lectures in order to get a good grade. Her class is moderately hard but it defiantly prepares you for Bio210B.
hard class, hard teacher, and impossible to pass. she really will bother to death. its extremely extremely hard to even pass the class with C. trust me she is a COCO NERD and she will make you literally cry. STAY AWAY TRUST ME
AMAZING teacher. Yes she is tough but it really makes you memorize the material. She's always there if you have questions and it is because of her that I decided on a career in the Biology field. TAKE HER CLASS you won't be disappointed.
Dr.B is a great professor! She is very organized and very helpful but very strict when it comes to turning in work ON TIME. Her exams are very hard! Its pretty hard to pass this class with a good grade... but I have to say she is one of the most helpful teachers I have ever taken, she even has study sections weekly!
Amazing professor teaching an amazing class. Once you get past the fact you actually have to study for this class (welcome to college) this class is awesome. Prof. B. holds discussion sessions once or twice a week and if you go to these, you will pass. If you are taking this class just because you love Biology you will LOVE this professor!
Her tests are worded only to confuse you. She will not react efficiently to questions, and while she seems professional in her lectures, she will use flavorful language without explaining material well. Brahmbhatt will overlook a student leaning over a bunson burner wearing her hair down and a scarf near the flame.
Microbiology is a hard class. You are given a TON of information to memorize. Professor B is very nice and helpful. She is always willing to answer questions and further explain the material. Her tests are hard and there's a lot of quizzes but as long as you do the HW and the reading it shouldn't be impossible.
Amazing teacher. Clear expectations and if you focus on lecture material, clarifying stuff with textbook you don't have to read the whole chapter. She tells you what she wants. Curved grading for exams. Its not an easy subject so you will have to work. Only one person dropped the class. Lots of office and discussion hours. Also extra credit.
Very good teacher, knows her stuff.
She tells you what you need to do. Very specific! Feels like she gives you the basic information for a unit and it is ultimately up to you to go more in-depth about the information she discussed in lectures and lab. Would take her again if I had the chance (Since my work at the time was bad hahaha)
her class is not that bad, at all. she writes incredible notes with everything you need to know on the board and gives out the essay questions that will be on the test. reading the text is essential to getting an a. if you put in the work, you will pass. she does lab exams that are definitely easier than her lecture exams. i love dr b!
Dr B is a great Bio teacher who cares about her students. It would not be smart to miss her classes as she writes notes on the board that pretty much outline her tests. Copy them, study them and you'll be golden. Just because she does this doesn't mean you shouldn't read. Its Bio and you need full comprehension. Put the A work in and you get the A
Lab assignments and reports are due at the beginning of the lab period on the assigned due date, no exceptions. She can come late but you cannot be late even 3 minutes (she took half points off) Therefore, "risk your life speeding to a destination."Good luck!!!! Suggestion: take other prof at Miramar.
GPA's 4.0, almost lost it in this class. If you're a good student 2, you'll be fine as long as u DO NOT OVERPACK ur schedule with classes & labs. Exams r essay & mult ch. Gives u essay Q's ahead of time *get these done AS YOU GO THRU the section DO NOT WAIT* Dr. B's VERY organized & an excellent teacher. Many opp 2 gain points with quizzes & HW
Really wants you to understand the material. Lectures are clear and she makes it easy to understand. The class itself isn't easy but put in your work and she puts in hers. Also open for meetings if you need help. Gives study guides, practice test problems, online hw, weekly quizzes, and extra credit. 10/10 would recommend.
She is the best! She gives amazing lectures that will save you a lot of textbook reading. Go to lecture as there is attendance points. Her exams are kind of tricky but you just got to be comfortable with the material obviously dont cram 5 chapters a night before. Dont skip her lab without a document proving why it will affect your grade really bad
Online Homework with due dates and extra material that she says won't be on the exam. Waste of time.
great lecturer but hard on tests. It would help if she told us what was on the writing portion but she doesnt. Its like putting all the chapters in one big writing portion. Also, I feel that sometimes her tests dont relate to her lectures.
Super nice and professional. She writes what you need to know on the board. Tests are pretty difficult but go to all her discussions because she literally tells you what she's looking for in the written part of the test. Homework isn't difficult. I would take Dr. B again for 210B if she taught it.
Dr B was very helpful in every aspect of the class. It is a very tough Class but it isnt impossible to pass. Keep up with the essay problems she provides and honestly follow the study guide. I really enjoyed this class a lot and shes one of the best professors Ive had here at Mesa.
Dr. B is by far my favorite professor. She is very kind and really looks out for her students. Her class is very difficult, so be prepared to work. You do learn a lot though. She really knows the material and can break it down for you. Visit her office hours when you are unsure of something. She clears it up. She should be your top choice for Bio.
She is an amazing instructor who has a passion for biology and teaching. I found her to be very approachable and she's very open to questions during lecture. Her class definitely requires students to LEARN the material. Go to her extra review sessions for exams they are very helpful and read the textbook. The best professor I've had!
If you want to learn something she is a good professor to learn from. besides that she provides lots of opportunity for her students to get extra credit because she cares about your grade, too.
The best of the worst. Beware online homework is too long and gets in the way of studying. Pop quizzes during lecture. The most important note is her expectation on the written portion of the exam. Doesnt tell you what will be covered out of 20 long possible questions, and requires you to explain specifically or you wont get points for it.
She's really nice but unfortunately, her tests are super difficult. Her lectures don't really relate to what's on the test. Her slides have little to no writing. She only writes on the board so pay attention or you won't pass.
Love this class! Her notes are SUPER neat and organized and shes very helpful. She does requires specific explanations in the written part of the exam but she only takes off 0.25 points for one missed detail, so it isnt THAT bad. Tbh if you study everything she wrote on the board and write it all down, youve got all the details. I got a high A
Best teacher I've had at Mesa. Not an easy A but also not as bad as ppl make it seem. Just show up© what she writes on the board. VERY organized&offers EC. All HW can be found on quizlet, exams are mult. choice&few short ans. She literally gives you the short ans Qs b4 the exam. Barely used the book *GO TO HER DISCUSSIONS* gives ans to essay Qs
Dr. B is a very caring professor and has her best interest in the students. Bio 205 is not a joke even though she is a good professor, you need to work really hard to earn your desired grade.
One of the best professors I have had. If you want to actually learn micro and not be bored, take Dr. B. She loves the material and sets you up for success if you put in the time and effort to study and really learn the information. Make flash cards, practice the short answer questions, and go to her office hours if you need help.
Dr. Brahmbhatt is an amazing teacher. This is Micro Biology so expect it to be a tough class. That being said, Dr. B's lectures are clear and easy to follow along with. If you have questions, she's will answer them without making you feel awkward. She is easily accessible outside off class during office hours and having extra study sessions weekly.
Fantastic Professor!! She is very clear, stays on subject, and is very accessible outside of class. She provides students with the tools needed to do well in her class, so long as you do the work you will do well. Her problem sets are long but if done correctly will lead to good test scores. She is very generous with extra credit opportunities.
PROS: Good professor overall, breaks down material for you, she is very clear and straightforward. Gives extra credit opportunities and is pretty accessible. COS: Heavy lecturer, assign lots of homework/quizzes and her exams are very hard and long. Tough grader on written portion of exams. Very dense class, will consume most of your time. Good luck
Her lectures are amazing and her tests are EXACTLY what she lectures on. Her tests can be hard but just take really good notes and youll be fine. She has discussion sessions for extra help too, and she gives multiple extra credit options. Shes super organized and always clear in her assignments or test questions. Her lab is great too!
By far my favorite professor! You can tell she really loves her job. She is also very understanding, caring, and hilarious. The material is very difficult, but she gives you all the resources she can to succeed. Go to her office hours or discussion sessions when possible. Also she accommodates DSPS students very well!
Dr. B is the best bio professor this college has. She really cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed. She will take the time to have a meaningful conversation with you. She makes the material easier to understand, exams can be tricky but it is a bio class what do you expect? She offers a bunch of extra credit. Multiple choice exam.
I am currently enrolled in her microbio class, which is a constant source of stress. Her tests and quizzes are very short, so missing a single question/part of a question will heavily affect your score. She also hasn't graded ANYTHING. We've been in class almost a month! If you have trouble with bio, look elsewhere.
This professor Is the worst.6 Exams with essays. She is a tough grader when it comes to your essays because you need to explain deeply. No extra credit opportunity. LOTS of Hw that take up all your day. Lazy person when it comes to uploading your grades. You'll definitely fail the class if you don't succeed in the exams, and weekly quizzes! study!
Very tough grader with unclear expectations. Didn't provide lab final (which is cumulative) study guide until the afternoon before because she forgot to make it public. Gives some opportunity for extra credit but rarely curves anything even though the class averages are pretty bad.
Dr. Brahmbhatt gives A LOT of work. Every week there's either a quiz or an exam. You have to be on top of your work because her exams are HARD! There were 6 exams, 2 Lab exams, and 7 quizzes. She's also a tough grader! majority of people were failing so she had no choice but to curve them and she hates curving exams. She only gives 10 extra points.
Lecture heavy but she provides everything you need for the exams. Extra credit opportunities & is super accessible and a quick responder. The labs I really did not like, probably because of the online format, but they were very long and tedious. The exams can be tough, but no surprises - she provides study guides and records lectures. Free textbook
She is a merciless teacher. Piles on insane amounts of work with not enough time to complete the work. She regularly goes over her class time and if you have another class she doesnt care, she will penalize you for leaving on time. Truly the worst teacher I know.
She ruined my semester because of how demanding she was. I never met a teacher with such an impossible curriculum. Her lectures are awful, she is a super mean grader, doesn't respect your time and is super annoying about due dates and participation. I wouldnt take her again if they paid me to.
Like many of the other reviewers have stated, this professor will make your life very difficult. She loves giving out busy work, and wastes lots of your time on tedious labs and activities, giving you almost no time to study for her insane exams. She grades her exams mercilessly so expect a C. I really hope teachers like her stop getting work.
Nothing is open note, uses proctoring service. Graded study guides barely cover what's on exams. Expect to put this class over all of your others. Due dates are extremely inconvenient to accommodate her sleep schedule. DO NOT turn in anything late or risk getting 20% deducted per day off your work.
If this is your first class for Bio, get a new one. Shes a good lecturer but her exams are AWFUL. The problem sets are nothing related to the exam. Her exams are very difficult, no last minute studying. She uses proctorio and all quizzes and exams are closed book.
I love bio. I have never worked so hard for an A in my life. She is a tough grader and stands by her policies. After taking her class I wanted to be a micro teacher. You really have to work and study a lot but she is an amazing teacher and if you seek help she goes above and beyond. You can lose points for stupid little things. Be prepared to work
She is nice, her voice will get on your nerve with time she goes on rampages everytime about things you dont actually need to know (which she will mention after), total micromanager, assigns so much work she can barley catch up with grading. Makes the subject harder than it already is. I need this class to graduate ontime but avoid if possible
Bio in itself is a tough subjectthen there this class to make it worse! she goes out of her way to make it impossibly hard to pass on exam and quizzes. Unless you are mega mind, Id look elsewhere. Her study tools dont in any way, shape or form relate to her tests or quizzes. Amount of work is also bogus.
Record the lectures, if possible, because everything she verbally says will be on tests and quizzes. Her exam problem sets are extremely helpful so take those seriously and rewatch lectures for studying. Don't buy the book if you don't want to, everything is on the slides. My class was online during covid, could be different in person.
It's definitely a hard class but you can get through it if you study correctly. The problem sets and guides she provides for each exam are essential in your study time. I also used the book which helped a ton! It's not easy, but she was always accessible outside of class to help. Attend her office hours and study, study, study!
Shes a great lecturer but is extremely annoying with all the tedious assignments and quizzes etc. She manages her classroom more like a high school rather than focusing on the material solely like most college professors.
I learned so much in this class! The professor does a great job making this difficult subject understandable. She is a talented teacher! Great lectures and she's super helpful if you're having any issues and she will go out of her way to help you succeed.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. BIO210A is already hard enough, you dont need a Professor to make it worse. If youre truly going to be dedicated to this class then take it. Requires your full attention 24/7
I am sorry but she isn't the one! A hard grader she is, little annoying, "perfectionist," and always giving so much work for so little point. She uses proctorio and its just annoying. she also gives out so many HW and take points off for something so minimal. She will ruin your GPA if you are a straight A student. We warned you don't take her!!!!!!
Prof. B is a GREAT professor. Some people complain about the workload but I think it's fine if you don't procrastinate and care about your education. I took gen chem 2 and a math class along with her class and I never thought the workload was too heavy. She's super accessible outside of class and helps in any way she can. Can't recommend her enough
Really good at explaining concepts. The tests are unnecessarily hard. LOTS of essays on the tests. LOTS of busy work. This class is hard but she makes it harder by the workload she gives. TOO MUCH HOMEWORK. If you want a good grade study, study, study.... STUDY!!!!! For the instructor..... STOP giving so many assignments!!!!
There are issues.... germaphobe... she won't let you drink water in class (her rule not a campus rule), she makes you use hand sanitizer when you enter the room, if your mask slips below your nose she makes you leave class to get a new one, 30 quizzes (yes 30), 7 exams, and 30 homework assignments (yes 30) are too many. The workload is unnecessary.
MICROBIOLOGY. Legit a good teacher. If youre struggling, just be open with her and she will help you out. Class Attendence is not manditory, but you wont pass if you miss class. Be HYPER specific with your short answer response. Work load is heavy you will lose friends this semester.
I deducted 2 points because this professor gives an obnoxious amout of required homework. Personally, I learn by studying my lecture notes, and all of the 30 PLUS assignments got in my way of studying for tests. All the quizzes got in my way of studying too (who gives 30 quizzes in 1 class? This professor does) PLUS 3 lab tests and 4 lecture exams.
I have never left a review before, but I think it's important for people to know that the amount of work she gives her students is absolutely insane. She's legit crazy. Like for real, crazy. If you have another option in professors take the other one. If not, peace be with you and good luck (you're gonna need it).
Lecture, study, and exams SHOULD be all you need to do for a class. If the professor feels the need to give LOADS of homework and quizzes so students have a FIGHTING CHANCE to get a decent grade on a test, THEN THE TESTS SRE TOO HARD!!!!!!!!!! Look elsewhere, she isn't going to change.... RUUUNN far away from Dr. B!!!
I have never had such an amazing lecture professor. She makes her lectures super clear and easy to follow. She does give a lot of homework, but super beneficial for review before exams.
Oh em gee. Great professor, but totally unnecessary with the amount of homework and assignments she assigns. We have a lab report, two in class activities, two quizzes, 1 lab exam and one lecture exam all due within 10 days of finishing the course. Absolutely unnecessary!
Feeling better now that I see other peeps are as irritated as I am about the workload in this class. Last 7 days of class: 2 quizzes, 2 exams, 4 homework assignments, 1 in class activity. The assignments aren't helpful for me. SHOULD BE OPTIONAL! This is college. How we study SHOULD be our choice. Not the choice of a professor w/ control issues!!
I was not benefited by all of the assignments given in this class. In fact it took away from my time needed to study for her insane exams. Her demands she puts on her class is completely unnecessary. The good she has to offer with her clear lecuters isn't worth it, because in the end she will drive you NUTS! Take someone else. She's NOT the one!
Her curriculum is an absolute nightmare and her exams are way harder than necessary. If this instructor wants to make a positive impact on her students she needs to tone down her difficult exams and she needs to stop all the required assignments. It's nuts. Absolutely nuts. There is no balance. It's pedal to the metal w/ no room to breathe.
The workload is insane. Its extremely inconsiderate, irresponsible, and unrealistic. Im sure there is a compulsivity issue behind. Not a healthy classroom environment
Imagine yourself drowning in a sea of required homework and quizzes farther than the eye can see, leaving no time to study, little time to sleep, and barely a chance to breathe. In the last 10 days of the semester there are 7 assignments, 3 quizzes, 2 final exams. The whole semester has been like this. I'm smoked. Look elsewhere. Don't take her.
This class curriculum has unrealistic expectations. She mentioned to the class that it's what we signed up for. I believe there is more than one way to do things. If you want to hop on board the crazy train you're in the right place. This class could actually be quite enjoyable, but her curriculum makes that an impossibility.
Super nice lady but her class is TOUGH. She assigns a million assignments that all just feel like busy work. The last unit of the class she had us teach ourselves all the details for 12 diseases. Her exams are very detailed and her "short answer section" is just actually 5-6 ESSAY questions with very little directional advice for what she wants
This class has the largest workload I've ever had in a class. There is so much work that you have no time to study. She is inconsiderate about our time outside of class and her exams are extraordinarily difficult. If you are a working college student or don't want to spend all your time on one class, do NOT take this class.
Professor Brahmbhatt was the best teacher I've ever had at Mesa College. She was extremely knowledgeable and was good at teaching the material. She replied to emails right away, gave great feedback, held review sessions, and was very understanding of situations. I had COVID during her class and she was very accommodating to the predicament.
Needed this for grad school. Too many assignments (over 30), too many quizzes (over 30), too many tests (7). Yes her tests are hard. Very hard. Yes I got an A, but I sacrificed for it. Yes she is nice. It would also be nice if she brought a sense of balance in her class. The students are frustrated, overwhelmed and the work load is unnecessary.
Dr Brahmbatt is the most caring professor that I have ever had in the entirety of my academic career. Put in the effort and she will do anything she can to work with you. She gives a lot of work but it always helps with exams. I worked full time and took this class so yes it is possible. Currently have an A going into the last 2 weeks of class.
She is nice and gives good lectures. But the workload she gives is completely out of balance. I wouldn't recommend her.
Survival Code Homework not graded. Write something and you'll get the points. Quizzes worth only 5% of grade. Do your best but don't stress. Lab reports. She will help you with questions if you ask. Tests. Memorize and understand your notes. Do the essays first. Essays are straight memorization from notes. Review the quizzes before test. Good luck!
She is a great professor! She is very clear in what she wants you to know for tests and quizzes. This is a very demanding class and would not recommend taking it with another science class if you need an A. There is 4 lecture tests, three lab tests, multiple homework assignments, and a written project in lab. Study and show up to class!
Wow, I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. Maybe it was different during the pandemic but Dr. Brahmbhatt is the absolute BEST! She is caring and really wants you to succeed. Yes, micro is hard but go to her office hours. She is accessible and it was just a great experience. She relates the material to real life. Take her!
Dr. Anar is a great professor and a great person. She treated us as adults, and understands our struggle. When leaving this class we left with so much knowledge. The class is not an easy A but if you study for it there would be no problem. Highly recommend
Great professor!
I've taken Dr. B twice now and both times was very exceptional. If you want a professor who truly cares about her students take this class. Extra credit is given which is nice as it gives you chances to still achieve an A. There are 4 lecture tests and three lab exams. Utilize office hours and seek out help from the peer mentor!
Dr. B is super sweet, accomodating, and works hard for her students. Most flexible prof I know. Gives lots of EC, review opportunities, detailed lectures. She is a perfect prof for students that need extra support when learning (in depth explanations + review). Pace may be a little slow for more advanced students / individual learners.
Dr. Brahmbhatt is one of the most caring professors I've ever had. She will answer all of your questions and will help you understand all the information. She always prioritizes her students and will make zoom and in person sessions so that students can review before taking exams. She gives a lot of homework but they are all meant to help you.
Marks off for tiny reasons. Tests are really hard, she is really into critical thinking type scenario questions. I'm sure they will help me in the long run but part of me wished she would leave that to the 400 level upper division classes, where questions of that rigor belong. I felt like she had unrealistic expectations for us at times.
Communication is not really her strong suit. Went off track a lot/explained things just as she knew them but not as if it was to a class of students that had no idea what she was talking about. Honestly ended the class extremely clueless among everyone else. DO NOT TAKE
Horrible class with heavy tests and a super tough grader.
Very hard class with the most confusing and difficult exams. Do not take her, she is a tough grader and you will be failed no matter how hard you study.
All the reviews are fake.
I am writing to express my frustration with this teacher, who I believe has been treating me unfairly. Despite only missing two labs, she treated me as if I was going to fail 100%. Furthermore, she does not follow her own syllabus and has too many rules, which often leads to confusion.
Horrible!!!!
She is inconsiderate about our time outside of class and her exams are extraordinarily difficult. If you are a working college student or don't want to spend all your time on one class, do NOT take this class.
I believe it's important for the professor to maintain professionalism and avoid delving too much into students' personal lives. It's extremely important to create an inclusive and non-discriminatory learning environment for everyone. please avoid constantly watching us during class. Also, using fresh gloves for safety and hygiene would be great!
While I appreciated the unlimited retakes policy the process of scheduling appointments for retakes was time consuming and hindered my ability to study effectively. questions on the exams also seemed to become increasingly challenging and tricky which made the retake experience more difficult.
Believe the other reviews. TOUGH grader. Canvas can be very confusing and misleading at times. Very kind and a good teacher, but has unreasonable expectations and VERY harsh mark offs for assignments even minutes late. Probably take another professor if you are taking a lot of units or work and school. A lot of homework, quizzes, and studying.
Take a different professor, great lecturer but i'd still take anybody else but her. She makes her class more difficult than it needs to be. At least 4-6 assignments EVERY week. I get A's, she makes you WORK WAY TOO MUCH. 4 Lecture exams 3 Lab exams and nothing is dropped, no late assignments accepted, so you're screwed. AVOID.
Horrible professor, she enjoys seeing students struggle. And does everything to encourage you to drop her class.
If you have a busy life, definitely avoid this professor. She seemed very nice at first but progressively got worse and worse. I worked very hard in her class but still could not seem to get a better grade. Leaves exagerated amount of assignments each week. She gives very hard exams that you probably won't even have time to finish.
Good lecture overall; however, she over complicates the material. You have to work extra hard and put in extra effort to complete the 4-6 assignments/quizzes each week. Nothing is omitted from the four lecture exams and three lab exams. Your exam's lecture written portion requires extensive detail in your response, or no point will be giving.
one of the most amazing professors, lectures 10/10 detailed & organized. It's a difficult class but it isn't the professor's fault, the negative reviews are from people who did not pay enough attention or time to this class. My only dislike was taking points off the lab exam questions if you've missed that lab even if you got the question right.
It's not a hard class in terms of difficulty as long as you come to class and complete work promptly. Dr. Brahmbhatt goes out of her way to support you through the class throughout the semester! The content comes with a lot of work but that is how it is for a class like this. Overall, above and beyond teacher that I would take again if I could!
Dr. Brahmbhatt was one of the best lab professors I have ever had! She is very caring, enjoys teaching and will help you every step of the way by making time for students outside of class. If you think you were graded unfairly she will make time to talk to you about it and gives you credit back. She is clear on what is on her quizzes and exams.
Although the subject itself is difficult Dr. Brahmbhatt goes out of her way to help students. She gives clear study guides for quizzes and exams. She guides you through the reports and even helps you in editing rough drafts. Very caring and understanding. Highly recommended and I would definitely take a class with her again!
B is really unfair She makes you retake exams just to waste your time, so you end up missing the second exam. She promises extra credit for spending time in her smelly office, but she doesn't actually give it. I missed my finals because I couldn't stand seeing her dark eyes anymore. In the lab, she watches you like you're in an interrogation room.
Took her for Summer lab and was afraid because of the reviews. But she is such a gentle and sweet professor. She read our class's feedback from the first exam and took every comment into account. There was not a single question that she didn't teach. Really does help you along the way especially with your enteric unknown report.
Very detailed and organized lectures, but the class is quite challenging. Lots of assignments, quizzes and tough exams. unstuck study was a lifesaver for study prep.
This class is not hard. However I have never met a teacher who gives out this much work. 12-20 pg. packets for the lecture exam. 10-15 pg. packets for lab exam. 2-3 10 question quizzes a week. Pre-class assignments. In class assignments. Long lab lectures. Ridiculously nit-picky about written answers. Does not give useful feedback on homework.
Dr. Brahmbhatt is a really passionate professor! However, for this class you have to do work, there's no point in taking this class if you're not gonna do work. She gives you PCA's that are helpful for learning the chapters. It is memorization for some but learning how it works is very helpful in this. She's willing to help with your grade.
Dr. B is so kind and understanding. Make sure you communicate with her early in the semester to establish your goals. Her exams are straight forward and based directly on lecture. If you don't like biology maybe take another professor because she goes into detail and is passionate. You are graded on participation and take good notes!
Im shocked that prof B has this low of a rating, this is hands down the best prof ive had. I highly recommend this class. The lectures are so carefully designed and thought out, that success was easy. I really appreciated the structor of the class, it prepared me for exams well. My best advice is to go to office hours, peer mentoring, and lectures.
Dr. B is AMAZING!! she is kind and understanding. She is fair in her grading, gave extra credit opportunities and amazing student support. She genuinely wanted her students to succeed and did everything possible to help us. She responds to emails quickly, has plenty of office hours, and will take the time to explain things again/in a different way
She is very sweet and caring. She wants you to succeed in her class and gives several extra credit opportunities. She is a bit of a hard grader but she provides homework study guides that will help you study exactly what's on the exams. I recommend taking her if you want a stress free semester!!
An amazing teacher who really cares about the students and the material. She will work with you to make up anything that you miss. Only issue that I had which is just because of my learning style is that she has a lot of assignments between lecture and lab. 20+ page packet on each exam. It helps your grade but too much work for me rather just test.
Dr. B, is super caring and always makes herself available for students. She gives you all the material you need and even runs study sessions which are really helpful. The class is pretty test heavy, but she explains everything. Sometimes she over-explains in lectures which made it a little hard to keep up, overall she's a really good professor.
Dr. B is one of the best professors I've ever had. She writes EVERYTHING out, great for pacing and note-taking. Micro is tough but she makes it manageable and cares so much for her students- she is there for you even past her own limit. Yes, her grading is tough and things get really granular, but study up, ask questions, and have fun with it.
