Great prof, extremely helpful if you don't understand concepts, highly recommend her!
VERY HELPFUL WHEN CONCEPTS ARE UNCLEAR, VERY EASY TO GET A HOLD OF. HAS A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR SO LECTURES ARE GOOD! RECOMEND THIS INSTRUCTOR HIGHLY!!
Phil 100 is the easiest course I've taken. You can honestly sleep through every class and still pull off an A. The professor is nice enough and teaches well, but stay away from Phil 100 unless you're looking for a free A.
really nice, extremely helpful with feedback, this course might be the MOST exciting but its really useful and will help you win arguments!Anastasia often has students work in small groups, classes are never three hour long lectures
Took her online class...she is really helpful and makes it possible to get a good grade.
She is an awesome teacher, who is really helpful and understanding.
Fantastic professor!! I highly reccomend her Philosophy of law class, as she's extremely articulate and expressive in delivering the material. However, if you're in the market for an easy A this is not the class for you.
She sure is a lot more better than the 'other 'guy'. She rox!
soooo boring....phil sucks
Excellent teacher. Very clear on everything. If there is something that you do not understand she will take the whole class making sure that you do. I highly recommend any philosophy class with her.
great
I adore Anastasia! She maintains a good balance between instruction and student input, as well as explaining concepts with great clarity, patience, and enthusiasm. She creates a polite and respectful environment for debate. She is also very helpful with assignments and a generous marker.
Just a great teacher.
Great Prof! Fun class.
She's an awesome teacher! very helpful and clear on everything she teaches. you can send her your assignments before they're due and she'll tell you exactly what you need to change to get a good mark. exams are fair too. highly recommended!
Great at teaching and generating interest. She is also incredibly sexy in her own way.
she's really nice, easy, you dont have to go to her classes at all basically. what she talks about has nothing to do with your essay topics lol.
A great teacher. Clear, helpful and friendly. She really knows her stuff too. She is a fair marker and only those who don't show up or don't pay attention don't see the connection between what she teaches and the essay topics. Word of warning: Study for exams.
This is my second class with Anastasia and I chose it because she was the prof. My experiences in this class have been even better than in previous years. She is genuinely nice! The material is a little dry at times but she tries so hard to make it interesting. She marked the midterm very fairly! I recommend any class that Anastasia teaches!
She's great! I actually wanted to take more philosophy courses just because she'd be teaching them! I'd recommend her to students of all levels. You'll love her tests too. Raised my GPA. Liked her as a person too!
Very easy marker. Very patient and nice. Open to any questions. Tries to make the material interesting and easy-to-understand (though many had problems following). Class material pretty boring, but kinda relevant. Would recommend.
Phil 100 was boring, I recommend Phil 120 all the way. Althought Phil 100 was boring, prof tried to make things interesting. Very VERY nice prof and VERY easy to get help from, especially if you prefer to e-mail. Gets back to you within a day or two. Wants you to do well in the class and get something out of it.
She is an awesome professor, she really makes you think and helps you to understand the text. Her class is discussion oriented but she is really good at making it follow the text.
fantastic teacher. lots of discussion in class, lots of debates, if you learn well through interaction, this class is really well run. i loved it.
great teacher
In a class that I wouldn't call remarkably interesting, Anastasia managed to salvage things by keeping the material in excellent focus. Her marking is reasonable, and she does try to make sure her class has the best chance of succeeding possible. I especially liked the practice tests she'd post for the class. Overall, definitely a good prof.
What a great teacher! Enjoyed her class so much I almost considered being a phil major,,,almost. Very super helpful and friendly, makes things easy to understand. I would recommend her class and will be looking forward to taking another class with her.
When I took this class I didn't think she was that great, but now that I have transfered to UBC and have a new prof teaching the same stuff, I would give any thing to study under her instead.
Really great teacher. Made herself available outside of class, answered questions curtiously, gave us lots of practice.
Her teaching style is frustrating. I don't feel like I learnt anything from taking her class, except how to tune out other students interpretations of a few passages. Not structured, doesn't follow the syllabus, doesn't fully explain concepts so you have to spend alot of time on your own trying to figure out the material. Skip PHIL 250 with her.
I suppose she means well cause its obvious she loves the material she teaches - but all she does is get students to interpret all class and not explain anything herself. Its like banging your head against a brick wall trying to figure out whats being taught. Nice lady, mediocre prof.
Anastasia is a wonderful teaching. She really makes u understand philosphy and is always willing to answer questions. She maes assigments very cleas. I enjoyed having her for PHIL 100.
Great class.
One of the best profs around. Take a class with her if you can get one!
Anastasia does her best at making a dull class interesting. Lots of group work, but she doesn't mark participation. She sincerely wants her students to do well and will provide unlimited feedback on assignments... she's a really awesome person!
She really seems to know her stuff when it comes to this ancient philosophy. Tries to get everybody involved. Midterm and final are not too hard if you study.
Great Professor. Anastasia is a wonderful talent and I would recommend taking any class with her teaching. I learnt a lot and any time I needed help Anastasia was extremely helpful and very easy to get along with.
Wasn't assertive enough to limit tangents in discussion. Really nice, but maybe too nice when everyone had an (irrelevant) opinion.
Better if you like discussion. But also she gives powerpoint, study questions, feedback on essay drafts. Great final exam format. Material is pretty hard, but not too hard to do well in class.
Simply a fantastic teacher!
Overall great prof!
Great Teacher! Extremely nice and polite, and willing to listen to what you have to say. If she doesnt think your opinion is relevant she doesnt shoot you down, she works it into the lesson and tries to make every lesson interesting and make everyone comfortable with the material. Very quiet, but she definitely knows her stuff.
One of the best profs at UFV.
Anastasia is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is truly supportive of her students and goes out of her way to help us. Phil 100 was really difficult and I often felt lost but Anastasia patiently explained the concepts until I understood. Everyone should have a professor like her.
I took this class online. It was a bit tough and not that interesting. She made it clear and the content was concise. I new what I had to do and learn and everything was spelled out for us. Recommend!
Great teacher. Involved the class in discussion. She let people think for them self while guiding her students to think more like a philosopher.
I am just finishing up my semester with Anastasia and all I can say is wow! She is the best prof I have ever had! She is accepting, extremely helpful, and very clear and concise with lectures and what she wants. She is the reason I love philosophy! perfect teaching skills and very nice and reliable.
Great professor - available to help outside of class. Good sense of humour and uses it help with learning. Marks fair and provides practice exams and will evaluate drafts of assignments. Doesn't have favorites and invites participation from everyone. I wouldn't miss a class because they are all packed full in information.
One of the best profs at UFV. Very smart but in no way arrogant. Lots of class discussion which she usually stays out of so students can express ideas and follow the flow of the argument.
Anastasia is an lovely woman who is more than willing to discuss with students outside of class but inside of class she tends to let the class go off on a tangent with debates which is incredibly frustrating. We once spent an HOUR of class time listening to three students compare humans to vehicles and it was completely irrelevant to the class.
Class can be confusing. Not what I hoped for.
Anastasia is a great professor. She is very knowledgeable, and makes lectures interesting and is very thorough when she teaches. She gives out a few assignments but they are not tough if you pay attention in class. Gives good feedback. Straight forward with what she wants on Midterms. She is funny, and overall a great teacher.
Super sweet teacher, answers all questions you could possibly have and fairly marks all the papers.
She is a very nice lady, who cares about her students. her lectures made sense, and she is always willing to help. she tells you what to study for her midterms and can always give u extra practise if you needed. i would've gotten better grade if i took that help. lol. i re did this class with her this time and it made so much more sense!
Amazing lectures, especially if you like to engage with the prof. Grading is evenly split between papers and exams. Probably the best professor I have had at UFV.
Really nice prof. Gives interesting lectures and encourages class participation.
I literally was dreading this class but had to take it as a required class however this prof made it bearable, easy to understand, and as fun as possible. She really cares about her students doing well, gives clear instructions, and is all around approachable.
Anastasia is probably my favourite professor at UFV so far. She is very approachable and she truly wants her students to succeed. She does a great job at making a dull course surprisingly fun and engaging! Absolutely would recommend her to anyone!
I was nervous to take this class, but she made philosophy more understandable. The classes didnt feel like they were 3 hours, they felt way shorter. But she still used every minute wisely. She gives good feedback on papers. She even held a study session before the final for students to go over any questions/concerns. Probably one of the best profs
Amazing Prof. Super caring, nice, & funny. She's clear for instructions for a 100 lvl course and is helpful outside of class. Discussion oriented likes participation. It's philosophy, if you can argue your way into a good grade she could give it to you but show effort & display what you learn, she'll give you a good mark. Would recommend.
Great teacher. Helps a lot with essay writing and reviewing content for exams.
I absolutely loved Anastasia's instructing. She makes morality and politics very entertaining, her examples and metaphors helped me understand the concepts so much easier. 10/10 would recommend her to anyone. Very friendly. Very approachable. Funny. Provides good feedback on papers and is very accessible outside of class and wants you to succeed.
Anastasia is the sweetest professor I have had the privilege of knowing. She is the best professor for the intro philosophy course, she teaches it in a way that it is simple and interesting as well as entertaining. She's super approachable and very friendly as well as goes out of her way to help you.
super sweet, really cares about. her students, and humble. One of the best profs I've had she truly cares about the learning process and helping people get through this course as it's mandatory.
Really great prof, super kind human being, really cares about philosophy, and knows a lot about it! Always makes class interesting by encouraging classroom discussion.
Anastasia is a genuinely sweet, kind and caring lady. She is evidently very passionate about philosophy and teaching students. She makes classes engaging by encouraging students to join in discussion and by her unique teaching. She teaches, explains, and recaps very well, offers helpful study guides and practice, gives good feedback. Recommend 100%
Very kind professor, extremely knowledgable with the content and explains the material very well. Midterm and final are fairly easy to do well on if you study.
I loved my experience with Anastasia in 250. Some of the critiques here must be from students not too familiar with Philosophy. If you're a Phil major, odds are you'll love Anastasia for any Phil course. She does structure the bulk of her class to encourage and listen to student interpretation of texts, I see that as a positive thing.
Anastasia is so sweet! There are about 3, 20 min lectures each week and participation in a small group is required. One of my easier classes as a first-year student and it helped that the prof was so great! Content is pretty understandable too as long as you pay attention to the lectures.
Anastasia Anderson was the best professor I've had at UFV so far! I gained such a great understanding of Philosophy after taking it! She has amazing (prerecorded) lectures and if you watch them and take notes you will do great on the quizzes. There are two larger assignments in the course and 3 quizzes.
Had Anastasia for Phil 364! She is so kind and passionate about the course. Really wants her students to succeed. Her lectures have many slides and often we did fall behind (due to deep discussion). For this course there were more readings that were longer. It was still interesting but would recommend only if you have the time for her readings.
One of the best female professors I have ever had at UFV. She is very passionate about philosophy, her lectures are captivating and intellectually stimulating. She also cares a lot about her students and is always accessible outside of class. 10/10 would recommend!!
Anastasia is the type of professor everyone wants to have in their university experience. The number one thing I have noticed is that she genuinely cares for her students and it shows by her engagement outside of classes. She is understanding and wants the best for her students. Class discussions were so interesting. Trust me to take this course!
One of the best Profs at UFV. She cares and takes a personal interest in you to help you succeed. Her lectures are really interesting and make Philosophy practical and relatable. She is a fair grader and gives tonnes of feedback so you know how to improve. If you get a chance to take a course with her, I highly recommend it.
For a 100 level Philosophy class, Anastasia showed no remorse when it came to marking papers. She doesn't give half marks on anything and will in fact, take more and more marks off the more "wrong" you say in your writing. This includes the midterm and final as well. Would recommend to any non philosophy majors to not take this course with Ana.
I've really enjoyed taking her class as she shows genuine care for her students and will ask for ways she can improve her lectures, uses examples that are easy to understand, provides good feedback in essays, and will give chances to redo some assignments.
one of the best profs I've had!! cares deeply about the success of her students. gives exam questions ahead of time and allows for thorough feedback before handing in assignments. such a sweet woman, please take her class!!!
A great intro to philosophy and ethics. Anastasia encourages class discussion, which helps students to practice, debate, and solidify concepts taught throughout the course. I have never been in a more collaborative and enjoyable class. Anastasia is knowledgeable about the course material and is very thoughtful when considering student perspectives.
Anastasia is extremely caring. She grades fairly, and gives meaningful feedback so you can actually improve. Her lectures are super interesting and the workload she gives is also reasonable. She is the type of prof that just makes you want to try harder and get better. I highly recommend taking her class if you are interested in Philosophy.
approachable, kind, fair marker, reasonable course load, non-judgmental, overall I had a great experience with this prof and definitely recommend her. her phil 110 class has two short essays, two exams and some very short and easy in-class writing assignments. really great prof
Her class is so fun if you are willing to participate and are interested in philosophy. She answers all your questions and only ever tests on what she has gone over in class. I got by with only skimming the textbook but it does definitely help. Essays and mini-assignments are clear and pretty easy as long as you follow the instructions.
I would willingly throw myself in front of a bus for Anastasia, she's such an awesome prof
I have taken multiple classes with Anastasia and enjoyed every single session. She is consistently engaging, thoughtful, and professional. Highly recommend!
Super amazing prof! Nice and approachable and marks fairly.
i would take this professor for ever class if i could. Kind, engaging, intelligent, well-rounded. just all around the ideal teaching environment and marks very fairly!
She was amazing! Her midterm and final study guide had a long list of preset questions for the 5 short answer questions that she could pick from, it was super helpful to prepare with.We could use the textbook for in class essays alongside 2 pages of notes. She was a super good marker and made her expectations clear! HIGHLY RECCOMMEND HER CLASS!!
She's awesome! lectures got slightly boring at times but she is a genuinely kind person. Theres a few essay style short papers that are to be written in class. I personally don't mind that at all- makes for very little homework- would take again
I found her lectures very entertaining and she was a very joyful person. She gave good examples/demonstrated metaphors for clearer understanding of the topic.
