impossible to understand, doesn't seem to be able to see other perspectives and asks questions with which he expects specific answers.
so smart yet sooooo ignorant.. he has no idea how to teach or what is helpful for students. he lives in his own world and just expects u to know and understand what he is talkin about.
Extremely smart man, however he is almost impossible to understand because of his strong Russian accent. He gets very annoyed if a student misses even one class.
Thanks for a great semester and thank you for being such an excellent teacher. The skills that I have learned in your class will no doubt help me as I attempt to further my education.
I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Kurkovsky's lectures and sense of humor.
It was very interesting and fun. I enjoyed learning the material, doing the assignments and participating in class. Alice software is great. Dr. Kurkovsky is a very fair and excellent instructor.
I like this class. Dr. Kurkovsky truly cared about his students success.
Took this professor for Intro to Programming using Alice. Passed but when I moved on to Intermediate Programming I found t he class was worthless. You will use Java in Intermediate and beyond I would recommend taking Jenkins to prepare yourself and actually learn something, Otherwise you may find yourself dropping Intermediate because of difficulty
Good professor, no suprises, material is straightforward. If you need this class for general Itec requirements take kurkovsky, do the assignments, follow along and you will make an A and learn something about how programming works and probably have some fun with it. If you are IT major try and take the java course for more practical practice.
We have a nice programming class. I love ALICE software. I can write my own programs now an d understand various codes. Thank you Dr. Kurkovsky.
He is a rude & impossible to understand. He will ask ?s but will not except any other answer then the one he has in his head. The material is easy & straightforward the only downside is that if you are a IT major DONOT take this class you will be behind for Intermediate Prog because you would have to already know Java and in this class we use Alice
As a teacher, I liked him and will take him for future classes because his teaching style is easy. However, be wary of the Intro class. It is good if you are taking it for Gen. Ed., but not IT because we were taught Alice, not Java. I'm going to have to find a friend to teach me Java before I take Intermediate... Unless Dr. Kurkovsky teaches it.
This class was very exciting. Dr. Kurkovsky is a good instructor. I thank Dr. Kurkovsky for taking extra time to help me understand everything in each chapter. I was new to the class but I accomplished alot before the end of the class so thank you professor.
The book is useful- if you want to learn misinformation. Prof. Kurkovsky admits the questions on the quizzes are bad. Pay attention in class and you should do well. The labs are kinda fun.
If you want an easy A then take him. If you would like to learn then do not. He will read directly from the book or slides that are supplied with the teachers edition and that will be about the extent of the lessons. He has limited ability to understand English, and is bullishly stubborn. Great if you are a non-IT major and just want a skim-the-sur
Thank you, professor Kurkovsky. I like this course.
Extremely difficult to understand. Strong Russian accent and doesn't know English very well. Every few words he says "uhh" or pauses to think of the word he's trying to use. Rude, and caused many students to waste money buying the wrong materials b/c he changed the requirements 1st day of class.
This is a nice class. Our professor is friendly and helps the students.
As long as you stay awake in class, and stop playing on facebook a few minutes, you will make an A. He goes over everything to make sure you understand. A great teacher, laid back.
It is a good course. He is able to teach the material in a clear and understandable way. The professor is a man.
It is very useful class that helps you learn all the parts of a computer
Dr. Kurkovsky is a very knowledgable instructor. He gets very excited when his students do well on quizzes. I shall recommend him to other students when possible!
The material was presented in an excellent manner and teaching style was perfect
Everyone was given a chance to be a leader as well as a follower with several assigned projects. We actually learned more this way than in the traditional method of teaching/learning. Overall, there is a reason why Dr. K is one of the best professors at GGC.
He is so AWESOME! After you take his IT class, you won't want anyone else for IT. Dr. Kurkovsky is really nice and energetic.
I've never been good at IT, but Dr. K. helped me understand it better. Excellent teacher.
Dr. K. is the greatest IT professor I ever had. He is super easy and very helpful.
I like this class. Everyone was given a chance to be a leader as well as a follower. Dr. K is the man!
This class was SO boring! I'm just being honest. The tests/quizzes take like 10 minutes to take BUT we have to take them at the end of class, so I had to WAIT doing NOTHING during class just to take the test. (Because I had already done HW). That was the most frutrating part... Other than that, easy A.
Incredibly easy if you have ever used a personal computer and any sort of office program. Some of the labs require a lab book, I would just try to work with someone who made the mistake of buying it. Very costly and probably not worth the few points doing the labs might give.
Dr. K. is super easy and very helpful to us
Dr. K is an amzing professor. He may come off stern but he is not. He is extremely helpful. You have to TRY to do good in this class. Towards the end of the semester if your grade is low he MAY let you retake ONE quiz but he wont do free bes. You have got to try to do good. I love Dr. K and would DEFINITELY take him again! Highyly reccmmend!!!!!!
Dr. K is an awesome professor and is super intelligent. He does CARE about the students grade when they try. His accent is so much better and is really cool. LOVE HIM and HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Overall hes a nice guy, and his class is fairly easy if you keep up with the material and work hard. Beware of his incomprehinsable instructions on the projects, he isnt real clear on how he likes projects turned in until the last minute. He will throw you curve balls! Pay attention!
One of the best professor at GGC. It is a very easy class. Do the work he requires you will get an A out off his class.
Whenever a student asked for assistance he would talk about how we should know how to do this already or how the program he was having us use is used worldwide and it shouldn't be causing any issues. Refuses to help students when they ask for it, very unclear directions on projects, thick accent. Would not recommend.
Professor, I wanted to write to you and let you know what a great success story that you have helped me become. Without you I wouldn’t be where I am today. I appreciate all of the teaching and help that you have provided me with.
Dr. Kurkovsky was always willing to help me or anyone struggling with material or the class in general and that is not something that you get from every professor. Thank you for your instruction over the past semester.
Overall the class is very easy. But he has a very thick accent which sometimes makes it very difficult to understand him. I finished with an A in the class by teaching myself because he did not help at all. If your looking for a easy class this is for you but I HIGHLY suggest a different professor.
Thank you for a very good semester.
Dr. K. is one of the nicest professors that I have had. Pay attention in lecture and study hard for every quiz/test and you will be able to get an A.
Very good professor. He assigns a lot of online work, but it's very helpful. You just need to do it. I would definitely recommend him to everyone.
I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Dr.K. demonstrated a mastery of the course material. thanks.
He is a great professor. Strongly suggest him.
Wonderful class, Dr. K. is an expert of the course.
If you want an easy professor this inst your guy. Itch is suppose to be a simple class with an easy A, however Dr. K makes it more difficult than it should. Hes a nice guys, however has strange strict rules and class is boring. He takes attendance, so if you wanna skate by Itch i recommend someone else.
Refuses to provide feedback on assignments. Your grade is what it is and you will not know what you missed. When you ask for clarification you are advised to read. Very unhelpful, I do not think he even understands the assignments....
Thanks for a good course.
Thank you for being a great professor. I enjoyed the class and liked the way your organized the class and syllabus.
worst teacher, quizzes everyday, nothing like the notes or the book. Participation is a must. Very Strong accent, nice guy but tough class.
He is a terrible teacher. He is hard to understand and is really stubborn. He has countless amounts of pages of instructions that make are vague and confuse you even more after you read them. Somehow everyone in the class does something wrong and he assumes that it's the students no him who is making a mistake. I do not recommend him at all.
Thank you Dr. Kurkovsky for spending your time outside of this class to help me go over questions that I missed in the quizzes. It helped me understand the material and perform better in the class.
Dr. Kurkovsky, thank you for taking the time to teach me the course. I think your own knowledge about IT is much better than materials from the textbook.
Dr. K. thank you very much for your willingness to help me. I enjoyed this semester in your class.
Great professor. He is able to explain the material in a clear way.
Dr. K was a relatively nice person, but when it came to teaching he was not very helpful. He has a very thick Russian accent. Getting class participation credit is nearly impossible because your answers are never good enough. Be very familiar with Microsoft Office before taking because it is basically a self-taught class.
Great teacher always willing to help!
This is a top level course that has been very good organized. Dr. Kurkovsky is one of the best professors at GGC.
I enjoyed this class. Thank you Dr.K for being a knowledgeable instructor.
This class is a lot of work & there's work on days you're not in school. Participation in class is 10% of your grade. Your participation answer will always be wrong, but you get credit anyway. He has a heavy Russian accent and is hard to understand. Must have Text & Simnet, costs about $140 . If you ask he will show you wrong answers on test.
Respect him and he'll respect you. Follows his schedule to a T. If you show up, do the simnet work asked of you and engage when he asks you to you'll do great! He'll put effort in to your success if he sees you're giving an honest effort! Great (and crazy intelligent) guy!
It's more of an independent study class. You pretty much have to read the whole chapter, so you can try to infer on the quizzes. He only lectures on part of the information. There's no rubric for the group project, so you won't know how you got any of the grades. You can't see any of the mistakes you made on quizzes unless you go to his office.
It has been a great experience taking this class. I would like to thank you, Dr.K. Keep doing the good job you are doing.
Dr.K. thank you for the course, and helping the students in your classes. It is great to meet a professor who is really interested in helping students be successful.
Dr. Kurkovsky, thank you very much for making this serious course easy to understand
Intro to computing was the easiest class ever. All you had to do was listen and finish the assignments for the day. That's all, not hard to do at all. No homework if you completed what was assigned that day. Has these participation tokens that he gives you if you engage for extra points. Easiest class of my semester!
He is a nice professor, but you need to get ready and read all chapters. He is caring and respected professor and he is willing to help you.
The instructor was very knowledgeable in the field. We had to work really hard for every grade we earned in the class. It is a straightforward class, but if you slack off, you will pay the price on the long run.
Prof. Kurkovsky is the most horrible professor on the face of the planet. He is very unsympathetic; He has no compassion! He does not care about the students, hence, he could careless if you understand the course or not. He is only concerned about completing the ASSIGNED TOPICS. You can only pass his course if you already know computers .
Dr. K, thank you for being a great teacher and helping me to learn.
The book for the operating system class is available online and he wants us to buy the textbook. Why are you wasting students money?
His lectures are useless (just read the PPTs) and his accent and his English is by far the most confusing thing (and my parents are European) I've ever heard; but, if you show up and do the assignments, you're square.
Dr. K, is a good professor, he comes off as mean but he's actually very nice. His class is easy! All the work is online and he gives you time to work in class. He gives tokens whenever you speak and then collects them as points towards participation. Just do the work and you'll pass for sure! He also makes you stand when you want to ask questions.
Dr.K,, I enjoyed your teaching style, Thank you.
A week into the class and I already see that this guy has no interest in teaching. He expects you to come into the class knowing everything and gets frustrated when you can't explain every detail of the chapter. Every class, there is a word doc to be completed that goes with the chapter and each class, 2 students must do a 15-20 minute presentation
Impossible to get clarification with, its his way or you fail.
HE HAS A SUUUCHHHHH A TERRIBLE ATTITUDE!!!!!!!!!! U get usd to his accent but he's just sooo ruuudeee
The class of Dr. K. has reinforced the notion that studying and practicing hard will pays off.
Dr. Kurkovsky is a fantastic professor. He is passionate and knowledgeable. It has been a pleasure to learning from him.
Dr. K. really taught students how things work and did a great job with the course.
Such a great professor!
Thank you for the excellent summer semester.
I dont think he understands how to teach and it was like pulling teeth trying to understand him, no organization, and he is not helpful.
I would not recommend taking his class. He is rude and expects you to know everything. When I ask for help, he makes me feel slow and questions why I don't understand it. He wants us to participate in class by answering questions for a grade but when student answers he strikes it down. He is not understanding and doesn't care at all.
School is for learning & making mistakes. Professors are professors for a reason, they love teaching & students. Why would you teach if you don't want to help students become better or help when they don't understand something. I feel like I can't communicate with him cause he doesn't care at all and gets upset at you.
He doesn't do much teaching or talking, and isn't really there to answer questions. Almost everything is online, so you're probably better off taking this course 100% online. No point coming to a physical class for this. He's kind of rude if you ask him something. The class isn't hard though, as long as you just do the stuff.
The class ITEC in general is a easy course. This professor is the problem. Unorganized, confusing instructions, need to scavenger hunt for assignments, strict grader, 0 grace period for missing assignments. Overall pick another professor if you don't want to stress over finding his work most of the time.
Honestly, ITECH is an easy course. This professor sends an email every week with what needs to be completed and the date it is due. You have the whole week to complete the assignments whether you want to do them during your scheduled time for class or on your own time, however, you must take the quizzes/tests during the assigned time.
Intro to Computing at ggc is a bad class for beginners and a worse class for amateurs. You will not learn much, you will not be challenged, and yet it will still be extremely difficult. This difficulty comes entirely from navigating cumbersome websites. The quizzes are particularly egregious, the failure conditions are completely arbitrary.
He has a thick accent that makes it hard to understand him. Uses Connect and SimNet and assigns ALOT on it. Anytime he writes anything, whether it's a weekly email or instructions expect it to be long and have horrible readablity. Grading scale is hard to understand, the max grade changes eveytime he puts a grade in.
This class is a solid 3/10 with the sole reason being it's a fend for yourself class. All the work is online so you just need your computer. Masks are required so be prepared for that. We do a lot of work on SimNet which is so tedious so don't procrastinate. He'll play videos of himself talking's and he's got a THICK accent so prepare for that.
Makes a simple class harder than it has to be. If you ask him a question, he'll do anything except actually answer it. He also has an extremely thick accent, and rather than slow down and try to speak clearly, he rambles incoherently as instructions or plays a 20 minute video of him rambling as a "lecture". Lousy teacher, wouldn't recommend.
This class was overall easy, but it's probably because I'm a technology person. He doesn't necessarily teach. Everything you do is online. It's basically an online class that's in-person. He's just there to tell you what to do and answer questions. Keep in mine that he has an extremely thick accent, but you get used to it after a while though.
Does not teach at all, Had him in person ,just gives busy work and sits behind a computer all day , everything is online if you have prior knowledge of computers you'll be fine if not this is not the class for you. THICK RUSSIAN ACCENT
Terrible professor
Don't waste your GPA/ time with this professor. He doesn't allow make-ups and requires you to sit in class while he doesn't teach AT ALL. When you ask for help, he doesn't provide it. The work is tedious but simple, don't wait to accomplish it. Attendance does matter. He is old-fashioned and demands respect. Do not take him. You'll be on your own.
This professor is horrible, he gives loads of work and just sits behind the desk the whole class period. He doesn't teach at all and if you ask for help he doesn't provide it, so if you're not a technology person don't waste your time and gpa choosing him. Attendance is also mandatory. I finished with an 89 and he would not bump me to a 90.
Not a hard class , you can just do all the busy work which gives unlimited attempts however it is very long. He will NOT teach so everything is self taught. the "Tests" are just straight up 1 to 1 copies of the HW, overall the class is useless but a good gpa booster, I remember me and my friend just playing roblox in the back of the class
He's a bit hard to understand due to his accent, but he makes sure to explain the unit thoroughly before giving out assignments. Everything is done online and straightforward to do as long as you complete all the videos and assignments. He's not the greatest but not bad at all. The final is over the last 2 units and you're allowed written notes.
The only reason I think he deserves a rating like this is because he is very illogical when it comes to this corse. Firstly, he makes attendance mandatory despite having almost no lectures during class. Secondly, he fails to put the most relevant information in plain sight, making assignments more of a pain than they need to be.
The professor has a thick accent, making it hard to understand at times. The workload is heavy, but manageable if you stay on top of the online assignments and videos. Unstuck AI proved helpful for study prep, alongside the course materials. Overall, not the easiest class, but doable with consistent effort.
Very illogical course setup He has too thick a russian accent Never teaches anything himself, only using outdated videos Provided outdated link to get microsoft office, so I was unable to do any of the projects Attendance mandatory despite virtually no lectures during class time Workload is insane even for people with great computer skills
I enjoyed taking itec online. although it was very time consuming, you do have to use your time wisely while also taking other classes. he gives us a week to complete the assignments which usually consist of either simnet and connect. there is no lockdown browser/ webcam or any big projects.
Attendance is 10% of your grade but after like two months there's basically no calls, the link to access Microsoft Office 2019 didn't work and made 90% of the projects impossible to complete. the workload is insane so don't expect to spend your spare time on anything else. AVOID IF POSSIBLE!!
Literally doesn't help at all, doesn't answer emails. Just do not take him he isn't not a goof professor.
If you want to be on the verge of dropping out... take this class! Quite literally didnt do ONE assignment at the beginning of the year and I was graded F/N regardless of all the work I did throughout the semester. He will respond to emails late and STILL not provide a direct solution to any problem. Good luck though!
