He will not help students instead he implies that it's their problem that they are struggling and then shares the discussion with the class. He loves to tell students how much better NYU is than FAU. Overall he lacks the empathy required of a teacher and is too cocky to realize that he's not perfect.

He is one of the smartest guy.Came out very arrogant;however,he does interested in teaching. His class is,of course, hard. The tests are based on analyzing and understanding but it is definitely not impossible. The way he graded papers,of course, tough.Well,he had experienced how research papers and academic writings should look like :) good luck
most arrogant teacher I have ever experienced at FAU. Teaches class at the PhD level. Tests are typical FAU garbage: multiple-choice tests covering 8 chapters of material. Grades papers at PhD level. Comments on papers with handwriting that is not readable. AVOID and take a class where you will not have to memorize 8 chapters for each test.
one of the best prof at FAU. class is hard but very interesting. he will give you a very clear guideline of what he is expecting. if you goal is to learn something, take him.
seems interested in the topic, and makes it interesting for the students...but seems so entirely uninterested in teaching...hes tough
Here's the deal with this guy, his class is very easy to get an A in; however there is a catch: you have to do what he suggests. This means a fair amount of work but it helps you learn. I think he's the best professor at FAU. He's no-nonsense, but it makes the classroom a place conducive to learning. Buck up and stop blaming him for your laziness
One of the best professors in FAU! He is a great speaker and is well prepared for each class. His classes are very interesting. I love his grading system which is unique and fair. He is enthusiastic in teaching. If you take his class, you will learn a lot.
He is the BEST professor at FAU. He keeps you interested from the start to the finish of class, very entertaining and smart. Tests and papers require you to think and you learn so much. I would def take him again.
Arrogant. Thinks he is the smartest guy in the world. Rude. Mortified a student by stopping their group presentation and pointing out that he was reading from his notes when EVERYONE else in groups before had done much worse. Pay attention to the lectures and take the other professor if available.
He requires you to write 3 individual papers, a team paper, & a team presentation based on the team paper. He is very strict, so follow his guidelines & you'll do fine. His lectures are an interesting discussion on the reading & case studies. Exams are not hard.
Perfect class!
Very good professor. Hands down, the best. Global Strategy is not an easy class...but he makes it intriguing. Be careful with your group selection. Take this class, but you must apply yourself. Not an easy A, but very possible.
1st class, he seems arrogant! He is great! MAN4720 is a hard class period.. he is a tough professor, YET one of the best professors at FAU. All the other comments are true about the "reading off the notes" BUT he is fair about it and warns people not to do it! Def NOT an easy A!!! Likes 2 involve the class and tries to make the class fun!!!
This Professor is INTENSE, Alot of Papers,If you are lazy/playful do NOT take this class with him.( A beat) He brings NYU to FAU and prepares you for the real world. I dislike business, but this has been the best "Business" class I have taken at this institution. He does take your cards if you read word for word in your presentation.
this guy is such a ****
hes a good professor, lots of work, breaks down material, tests arent that hard, sometimes can be a lil tricky, grading system is definitely eehh....but extremely strict w/the way he wants things which is good cuz atleast he lets u know but at the same time its like damn wtf
He's very good professor. The class isn't hard, it's just a lot of work. Read the cases, he will kick everyone out of the class hasn't read the case. He's comes off a little arrogant at first, but as the weeks go by you'll notice he's a cool guy.
I wish every prof was as dedicated to teaching and to you as this guy is. He is strict w/the way he wants the class to run but makes sure you get the material covered and makes class fun. Tests are fair. Requires a lot of work and writing. Total of 3 individual cases and one group project.
He isn't too bad. Follow his instructions exactly and you will do well - if not you are in trouble. His attendance policy is very strict, so only take him if you are going to be in every class!! And yes you do need the book!
He is by far the BEST professor at FAU, hands down. He is very thorough in his teaching but explains the point well and allows for fun/interesting discussion. BE PREPARED TO WORK. You have to apply yourself to get through this class. He forces you to think but then guides you towards the right answer in his discussions.
He's a very good professor even though he does seem full of himself at first. You will learn a lot. In order to pass the class: go to class (attendance mandatory), read the book prior to class, study P.P. from his lecture (for exams), & work hard on the group project. Exams are based on lecture & powerpoint lecture notes.
Someone need to tell him that the world does not revolve around his course. This professor needs a life!Came across as rude and inconsiderate. He is a perfectonist and a freak. A bit anal too....Would not take him again even if the course was for free and I was guaranteed an A.
One of the best teachers I've had at FAU! Finally some critical thinking. Yes, this course involves work but the professor makes the subject matter engaging. He leads the class discussion but encourages the students to reach the answer. If you go in willing to be open minded you'll get a lot out of the course.
You need the BOOK,U're going to read, especially Report Cases.class is NOT SuperHard but u need to put some effort.Do 1st BusinessCases easier than last ones/LAPTOP NOt Allowed in class/Little Homework U pick WHEN/Group ProjectNot hard if u pick a good company/ExamsNotEasy PICK BEST Logical Answer/Attendance Mandatory/CLASSisINTERESTING not boring/
Good professor but ALOT of work. 3 tests 2 case reports (2 pages each) AACSB report (4 pages) interim report(5 pages group) final report (15 pages group) and group presentation
One of the best teachers I've had at FAU. Although, the class is also the hardest I've taken at FAU. There is alot of work, 3 exams, 2 individual case reports, 2 group papers, and a group presentation. Make sure u follow his guidelines when it comes to the papers or else you will get a bad grade. Classes are also a must, and no fones and laptops.
Great professor! Attendance is not mandatory but you will not pass if you do not attend. No phones and no laptops! A lot of work and you have to stay on top of the material. I took summer A and it was insane fast, but he is fair. Do all the assignments and follow his instructions exactly or you will not pass. Loved him and really enjoyed the class!
Professor Arikan is by far the hardest professor I've had but I've never learned so much. He challenges you and makes you work hard but it's because he cares. Each and every lecture he is so energetic and excited to teach. Participation in this class is super important. if you're willing to work and want to learn he's for sure the best professor.
Great Professor! Participation counts as a grade, so make sure you speak up. Not the class you slack on but keeps the class interesting and is always energetic throughout lectures. Class is more like an open format, he asks you questions to make you think and analyze certain scenarios or topics. Follow his instructions and you will do fine.
Far the best professor at FAU, the other ones should learn from him. He makes you work for the grade, but it's manageable. Took the intense summer class. Skip him if you're looking for a low engagement course. Take him if you want to learn (really learn, not just memorize), and you want to have a real-world, interesting and inspiring class.
Participation is the key to doing well in this course. Read each chapter, follow the group project Team Bible exactly how it's formatted, & read test questions carefully. Prof Arikan wants students to ask questions & make connections with the class material rather than just memorizing everything. He is a wonderful professor & I'd take him again!
He is ridiculous because you MUST participate to earn points but if you're 5 mins late then you are considered absent and you loose participation points. He doesn't care if you have to work or have other priorities. His exams are so confusing - it doesn't come from the power points or the book. He is mean, arrogant and makes you feel stupid!
One of the harder professors I have taken. Some are bad professors but Prof. Andac is good. Not by the books, he is great at making us work hard and think hard. I've never had analytical skills, but this course gave them to me. Wish we had more professors like him.
I took professor Arikan for a 5 week summer term. His workload may be heavy but it is very do-able. His lectures are great. He fills the room with a good, engaging energy that gets everyone to participate. Take him if you care to learn. Study for the tests using the book. Large group project. Fair case analysises. Attendance is key. Best prof @ fau
This teacher is a GREAT lecturer. His classes are very interactive, so be prepared ahead of time if you want participation points. His examples are very clear, too. However, he is a little slow to grade, and he normally only posts grades on one student out of a group of 4-5, so it's hard to know where you're at in the class. Would take again.
He is my fav professor at FAU! Prof Arikan is tough but gives great feedback that allows you to reflect on how you articulate yourself. If you show that you're working hard by participating and contacting him when you need help, you will see a more personable side to him. One tough group project with a presentation. Tests are hard, so study HARDER!
Professor is really cool during lecture but gives a near impossible lecture. If you aren't good with research heavy projects, DONT take this class.
This class is not as scary as he makes it sound the first day. As long as you do the readings and pay attention in class you will pass the class easy! My only complaint was the size of the groups for group projects. It was hard to coordinate with 5 people to meet once or twice a week.
Dont take him! He does not want to see you succeed and will take every opportunity to try to give you a lower grade even if you get high exam scores. I hope you take this as a warning, its not about the subject of the class but the professor. I do not recommend him for any class.
He's unsympathetic, rude, and very callous. He doesn't care about your situation and not willing to help your situation no matter the circumstance.
Took him years ago. If I remember correctly he ended the class one night because too few students actually read the material before class. That set the tone and everyone read from that night on. I remember his class not being extremely difficult, but challenging in a good way. I could see how some could see him as brash, but I was fine with him
Do not take this professor. That is my advice to you. I regret it SO MUCH because I have read the comments here and did not think it is true. Just find another professor.
Very bad professor
He will make your life nightmare. Dont hurt yourself by not listening to these feedback because you might comeback here to write your bad review.
While Dr. Arikan is a tough professor, I am very glad I took his class. I met with him and he helped guide me to succeed in the course. Keeping up with assignments and readings is crucial as this class is fast-paced. He knows what he is talking about and I learned a lot from Dr. Arikan's course.
Discussions were graded harshly. Group project was also graded harshly. Just an overall tough grader. Don't think anyone got 100s on discussions. My advice is to look for another professor.
The class is structed in a way where there is plenty of readings, case studies, elaborate group projects and exams. I feel as though the class is made way harder than it needs to be and has to much work overall. To be fair, we were given a warning at the start of the semester, he gives good feedback and is approachable. Be ready to out in the work.
I have been at FAU for undergrad and post grad. He is the only professor (at this time) teaching the capstone course for the program. I have never had a professor belittle and condescend to his students like he has. This is not a disgruntled student being lazy. I failed the first assignment and emailed him for support three times, with no response.
This professor continually insulted the class each week. While he wanted to push everyone and uphold the integrity of the MBA program, he often came across as callous and unprofessional in his comments. While his feedback is constructive it often comes across as belittling, petulant, and passive aggressive. If he opposes one's view he insults them
This is a true MBA class. It is a lot of reading, writing, group work and analysis. It is one of the toughest classes I've taken, but the class I've learned the most from. Dr. Arikan is a tough grader, but extremely knowledgeable and ultimately wants to see you succeed. He posts weekly lecture videos, so class is purely discussion and learning.
Dr. Arikan does assign a lot of work, you just have to put the effort in. You will learn so much from him, through his lectures and the book. Its honestly not that hard of a class, and the material is actually very interesting.
He is a great professor but I did have a tough time it is not easy but it is also not an impossible course. I reached out to him when I was struggling he leads you in the right direction but wont give you answers . Study & Read you have to know the material and the concepts or you can easily get material wrong in the test & case studies
Do not listen to the people who complain about him, yes there was work to do but this is college and it is a senior class, your degree is not worth anything if people pass without doing work. He was really responsive to emails and we go over case studies in class which helps learn and remember the material. I would take him again.
By far the best professor Ive had here at FAU and worth writing a review for. Extremely clear expectations from day one and engaging lecturesif only all classes were like that. I wouldnt even say this class was difficult but if youre expecting an easy A dont waste your time lol
Professor Arikan taught one of the best classes I took throughout my MBA. The people that complain about this class don't understand the true work that should go into a MBA. Reading the cases and course concepts is essential to passing. Lectures are all discussion based but Professor Arikan wants you to understand and relate concepts to real life.
I am taking Professor Arikan right now and all I got to say is that this is the best teacher FAU has. He is a tough grader, and the only reason why you wouldn't pass the class is because you are not studying and not doing the work. He makes lectures fun and he ACTUALLY TEACHES! Other teachers can learn from him!
Hardest class I have taken, but the most rewarding. Working a full-time job and taking two other classes is a very difficult class that requires a lot from you (on top of two other classes). I wish I can write more abo this class, but basically I am happy that I took his class. It taught me a lot about my work ethic and I apply the stuff I learn
He definitely forgets that he is supposed to teach his students, and is very unwelcoming if you ask questions either via email or in person. I have also never received such sarcastic and passive aggressive feedback on assignments in my 4 years of college. I figured he would be encouraging since he teaches seniors and graduate students...
Professor Arikan is a great teacher. He will not pass you with an easy A, meaning the course is difficult. However, you can tell that he puts effort into the course and makes his students understand the material. I recommend for students who put in effort/want to learn and not for a student wanting an easy pass. Also his lectures were great!
I just took this class in the first-half of summer. Great Professor! Actually teaches students how material applies to real world scenarios. Amazing teacher for those who want to put the work in. Laziness is not rewarded. If you read the lectures, attend every class, and participate you will pass. Highly recommend to students!
By far one of the best professors at FAU! You will not regret taking him. This is an upper-division course and is treated as such respectfully. His lectures are formatted to keep students engaged as you actively participate in discussion. He is there to help you and guide you in the right direction to pass. I cannot recommend him enough!
Lectures were interesting and engaging. 6-week summer course and it wasn't easy (he tells you this on the very first day!). Only downside was I did not really know what my grade would be because the assignments weren't all graded until the last day. Work hard and learn the concepts, attend class and you will do fine.
This class was an intense class. If you are expecting an easy A, then this isn't the class for you. This class has numerous assignments, readings, and your're gonna have to understand the concepts in order to do good. Professor Andac is by far the most interactive professor this college has. One of the best professors in the school.
If you do not want to work hard then do NOT take this class. Professor Arikan is by far one of the best teachers when it comes to lecturing, always keeping students engaged in class which many upper division teachers lack. He is a very tough grader and roughly 30% of your grade comes from a group project that requires A LOT of work.
Good class, utilizes Harvard Business for learning and certifications. Mostly reflecting on professional matters and responding to other students. There is one paper to do answering questions for a business book. Simple enough if you participate in timely manner.
If you are looking for a blow-off class this is not the class to do it. He is very clear and concise in his expectations of you and the class. It is a very clear set path on how you can go about passing the class but the work is required. If you would like to genuinely learn and understand this interesting material this is the class to choose!
If you like a challenge and actually want to learn something, take this professor. I personally enjoyed his lectures and his class was quite possibly the only class where I attended all of the lectures. Attendance is mandatory, read the textbook and participate in class and you'll be okay.
First off by saying just like he does day 1 of his class, DO NOT TAKE FOR EASY CREDIT & CLASS. This man will make you work, think, and learn than you ever had to in your college career. He is a vigorous professor but at the same time he cares for his students and treats them all equally and makes sure they learn the material in a fun engaging way
I personally think that Professor Arikan has been one of my favorite professors because he has taught out class the art of analytical thinking. He really what's us to think deeper than what's given to us. This lesson has not only helped with class but also with my own business that I want to start. You will work in groups!
Professor Andac Arikan is one of my favorite Professors at FAU. He has a passion for teaching. He is always willing to help the students. There is a lot of reading in the fast semester, but it is doable. Take him if you want to learn!
Prof. Andac Arikan often responds to questions with more questions, which can make lectures hard to follow. Attendance and participation are required. Tests are challenging. Grading is based on class performance. His attitude can be off-putting which affects engagement. His passion for the subject is there, which inspires some students.
Conducts himself in a very hostile manner, spends class lectures boosting his ego, and enforces an arbitrary participation system. 40% of your grade is from group work so pray you have a good group and exam weight is very odd making the first exam feel insignificant while the final can determine whether you graduate or not.
easy course material can but hard to gauge success due 2 incoherent grading system. Hand writes his exams and will add information that was not discussed in his "Socratic" sessions. as long u meet his participation quota and read the book u should pass this class. Huge ego and cares about his reputation on this site groups r based on exam grade...
Professor Arikan was one of my favorite professors I have taken. Since this is a senior level class, it is a hard class and requires a lot of reading of the textbook, as well as requires you to participate in class. You will succeed in this class if you put in the work, as he expects that from you.
A common sense class on business. His ego is quite large and fragile. He has also spent his entire life in academia... not exactly a business tycoon. Still, you may be able to glean something from the experience. Overall, not worth dealing with him. Take someone else and graduate. He fails kids consistently.
Do not take him if you need to graduate or care about your GPA. He takes pride in making this class difficult. You can easily pass if you participate and do the readings, but you will wish you did not take him. Can be rude. Incorrigible pedant. Avoid.
When asked for clarification on a particularly confusing concept, he responded with disdain, suggesting that the student should "just get it" without offering any helpful explanation, leaving a trail of bewildered and frustrated students in his wake, many of whom ultimately dropped the course or failed miserably despite their efforts.
Yes this class is challenging but he's approachable and willing to help - he met with my group members multiple times to assist w/ our project. His lectures are interesting, makes it easy to participate. He wants you to really learn, and tbh I learned so much in comparison to most classes I've taken. Economies of scale altered my brain chemistry :D
I took this professor a year ago and still haunts me to this day. Ive never had a worse professor. Take anyting else or just take it another semester if its just him. Ill remember how horrible this class was till im 80. He needs to quit and stay away from students. He is an awful teacher. He dont care about his students.
Great professor! Hardest and most time-consuming class in the MBA program by far but you will learn so much. Be prepared to read and write a lot. Read all assigned articles and case studies in full. Do not procrastinate on the term project! Be sure to read the project content requirements carefully to help you select a good firm to analyze.
This class is a real challenge, but the professor is approachable if you put in the effort. Try using unstuck study and the free textbook to supplement the lectures - it really helps with understanding the material.
Take his responses to these past students as a warning. The material is not challenging, but he does try his best to make it so. Do not take him.
This professor and class would have made me want to quit school. He should not be teaching ! I'm out of words, I've never had a professor that literally don't care about his student . NEVER go to office hours he will ridicule you! Don't waste your time responding to this professor everyone hates this class ! WAKE UP! THIS ISNT NORMAL
I would purposely not pay attention to the road while driving to class hoping I wouldn't make it to that class ! Hope that helps
Took this professor about a year ago and still to this day I'm coming back to rate bc I'm still traumatized !
Weird grading system somebody give this professor an award for trying to give the lowest scores possible, he doesn't give students a chance, doesn't understand we're in school to actually learn not being picked on
Took this class on fast track, and although it was hard, it's the best class I've taken at FAU. Yes you have to put in the work, but you will learn so much, the material is interesting and relevant to any business major. He's a smart, reasonable professor, he knows who's trying. Tests are curved, show up and put in the work and you will pass.
Not the easiest class but the professor is great and does what he can to help, I'd take it again
I would consider working at McDonald before I take this class again . What an awful professor he should consider not teaching again from the bottom of my heart . Take anything else
