A Kantian and an intellectual. Subtle humour, witty, very dedicated once he came into class to give his best shot at a lecture even though he had lost his voice. Class conversations can get a little off topic, but only because he is willing to engage with his students and their questions. Take him! No regrets.

Loved this prof so much! His lecturing style made me actually want to attend class. He's funny and really sweet, tries to make the material easy to understand for students. It's not an easy A imo but if you have an interest in philosophy, Kraal will lay down a great foundation for you. Also, his Descartes rap should've won song of the year.

Dr. Kraal, arguably, is the best philosophy professor at UBC. However, this is only my first semester here studying under him, but I have not seen any better than him, so far. He emphasizes thinking for yourself and loves to press people on their underlying assumptions that they may hold, to allow the student to get to know their worldviews better!

Kraal encourages students to be independent thinkers no matter what, which I think is the most important element in philosophy. After this course, I felt I had a good grasp of everything in the curriculum: as long as you do your readings carefully, and show up to lectures, the course is not too difficult. Office hours are also very helpful.

Absolutely wonderful professor. Inspiring, engaging, lives for philosophy and you can tell. Enjoyed every minute of every class. He loves to have discussions and he fleshes out his ideas deeply. The testing format can be something to get used to. Keep up with the readings, and pay attention in class and you will enjoy his classes greatly
