Excellent Teacher and she knows her stuff! I have taken her for all four semesters of my math and would take her longer if I could.
This class was difficult. Everyone thought it would be easy since it's Elem. Ed. Math but no, it was hard! She is not a good teacher at all! She doesn't explain stuff well at all and her projects are ridiculous! if you have to have this class, be prepared!
If you are not good at math then DO NOT take her!!! I had to drop her the spring semester I was supposed to graduate from Texas A&M and now I am taking the class with another teacher and graduating in the summer. She went very fast, is very sarcastic, and was not as helpful as I thought she would be.
She is a horrible teacher. She will lie to your face just so you can hear what you want to hear. She moves way to fast and if you didn't get it the first time, then tough luck. There is no one else in the math department that can help you out. Expect lots of projects and a 20 page PAPER. She teachers all kinda of maths and she is horrible.
She moves very fast, but if you pay attention you should be ok. She gives quizzes daily for attendance, so i wouldnt miss class. Overall she is a fairly good teacher.
Very confusing but is somewhat useful but not applicable to my major!
likes to scare class about their grades so she comes off slightly intimidating...funny...moves very fast
She is awesome! I am HORRIBLE at math and she helped me SO much with it. It was an 8 week course so it moves very very fast. Expect quizzes daily, and it's very helpful to do your homework. She would hold study sessions if we still weren't understanding something. She is very helpful, but you will still have to do a lot of work on your own.
GREAT professor! Her tests are very easy and there is not much homework/classwork other than the usual online requirements for any math class. She is extremely laid-back and is always willing to answer any questions. I would definitely recommend her to anyone taking 1324 and 1325!
I took her for an 8 week Math 1325 course and it was a pretty difficult class. She is willing to meet up with you to go over things you don't understand and homework is not required but I would suggest doing it. She will often talk about how hard the final is and how many people fail this class. But don't let her freak you out, just do the work.
She explains problems well, her quizzes and tests are not too difficult if you do your homework (which is extra credit)and pay attention to the explanations of problems in the class. She is easy going and has a great sense of humar. One of the best MATH teachers at Blinn.
I have really enjoyed her class. Sometimes her explanations are unclear but she is happy to help you individually. She makes her teaching interesting although for our class, it is difficult writing short essays since its a teaching class.
Andra is great teacher. don't listen to the people who posted 7 yrs ago! She is extremely helpful. No she doesn't teach a lot but that is the point of the class! you are supposed to teach yourself and she will guide you thru.. don't hate she's great!
GREAT PROF!! She is very personable and knows her math! Willing to help you with anything! Very funny also! loved her! TAKE HER IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT MATH
Andra is a great teacher hands down! She's always willing to help in any way she can, and if you go to her office for help, she will stay at Blinn until you know the material. All homework is extra credit for the test! (5 points extra credit for tests if you do your homework). Quizzes can be a little tedious at times, though over a great class!
Awesome prof, makes the class fairly easy. I would not really study for the tests, but still managed to make all A's, plus she gives extra credit for the homework you've done. I would just go ahead and take her if I were you.
These comments are inaccurate now. She has changed her complete system. She no longer gives ANY extra credit. You have daily quizzes over assigned book work. The book work isn't a grade but if you do it then you should get a 100 on the quiz. She does NOT give extra points for doing book work anymore. She DOESNT curve any more. Class you MUST try in
Easy class, if you took calculus in high school this class is a joke. Daily one problem quizzes are nothing hard, you can turn in optional hw to get out of class early and not have to take the quiz. Tests are fairly easy just do the test reviews. Online homework is the biggest thing you have to remember to do each week but it's mylabsplus so yeah.
Loved her!!!! She is a great teacher and will keep trying to explain the math until you understand it. She has a very sarcastic humor she is funny!!! I highly recommend her as a teacher :)
Great teacher! I highly recommend her!!! She is willing to help you until you feel like you understand the material.
Probably one of the best math teachers out there. Dedicated to you getting the grade you want. All you have to do is put in the effort.
This lady is awesome. She helps out so much, always makes sure you understand before she moves on. There is online and textbook homework but if you do both its easy to understand. She is very willing to see you outside of class. She has reviews for tests. she's a really nice and funny teacher. Take her class, its worth it.
The class started out easy, then got tough as it progressed. Just make sure you actually attend class, and really pay attention. Tests are hard but study and make the effort. She will help if you ask! She dropped our lowest test grade at the end which helps a bunch.
I took her 1325 8 week class and it was difficult but doable. Taking a calc class in 8 weeks can be tough but she's the best prof. To have. I ended up with an 86 in the class. Shes a great teacher, she will scare you by saying most people fail and the final is soooo hard but do all the suggested homework and youll be fine
She's a really good teacher, explains everything if you have any questions, she's always willing to help if you need it! She has a good teaching technique. There's lots of homework, but it really helps you learn if you do it
This is a hard math class but Mrs. B tries to make it as simple and easy as possible. She clearly goes though each step of each problem with explaination. Sometimes she goes really fast, but just tell her to slow down and ask some questions if you don't understand something. She is very helpful! Make sure to do her reviews to prepare for her test!
I love Mrs. Buxkemper! She's really funny and makes the class easy to understand. I had her for both 1324 and 1325, the 8 week courses. If you do the homework and the reviews you will do just fine! I made A's in both classes.
Great personality, very helpful, and wants to make sure everyone understands to be successful. Text book homework is highly recommend after lecture but you can also take quizzes the next day over one question from the homework to receive credit.
She was a great professor! I slacked off in her class and I still managed to pass. I highly recommend her! She is definitely there to help if you need it. You can tell that she LOVES what she teaches.
Took her Cal 1 for science and engineering majors. overall great professor, fair grader with clear expectations. there'll be online MathLab homework due a day after the next lecture, which isn't too bad (avg 2-4 questions). daily quizzes at the end of class UNLESS you do the textbook homework. She's kinda sarcastic, but it's okay. Tests aren't bad
Calculus is a difficult class but Mrs B is amazing I took the 1324/1325 8 week courses back to back I got an A in 1324 and C in 1325 Because the class is difficult and met everyday all the students worked together to get things accomplished She encourages going in early to get help from her She wants everyone to do well and one of the best teachers
DONT WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING! JUST TAKE IT!
I took her for 1324 and 1325, both in the 8 week classes. Overall she is my favorite college professor so far! She is very helpful if you need anything and is always willing to answer questions. She isn't just going to give you a good grade but she is more than willing to answer any and all questions to give you the best chance in her class! Great!
Mrs. Buxkemper is so great!! She is super willing to work with you on any questions you have. I took her for both 1324 and 1325 8wk courses. She's fun, and super helpful. Also, she gives extra credit for your textbook homework! There is a lot of homework, but it's for your benefit and you get extra credit for it. Take her!!
I took her for 1324 and 1325 and adored her. She's really funny and the most organized person I have ever met. There's lots of homework but its manageable and worth extra credit on her tests. Definitely recommend taking her!
Great teacher. Encourages you to come by anytime you don't understand, and is great at breaking things down and explaining them. You still have to work but great teacher. Would take her again if I could.
best prof I've ever had. She's super nice and explains things very well. I am not a math person and was able to understand all the material. I'm hoping to have her again for 1325
She is a great professor! If you need help do not hesitate to ask for help. She always has her door open! The book is mandatory. Do the problems in the book and work on mymathlabs you will do fine on the test.
VERY good prof. I loved her!! Class is one you will definitely put lots of work into otherwise you won't pass. She is ver helpful and wants the best for all students! She is highly respected and very easy to get in tough with outside of class. Book & calculator are a must for this class! TAKE BUXKEMPER!!!!
Took 1325 as an 8 week class & expected to have a very difficult time with it. Mrs.B is easily the best math prof I've ever taken. She is almost always available for help and will explain things in different ways until they make sense to you. Offers 5 extra credit points on each test, if not more. TAKE THIS PROF!!
Condescending. Don't even bother asking for help during class, she'll tell you to go to her office hours. Math is my best subject but after this class she made it awful. Calculus is a hard subject to begin with and she didn't bother to make it any easier or help.
Took her for a back to back 8 week class in 1324 and 1325, best prof I've ever had!!! TAKE HER. Can come off rude but really isn't, always has office hours and will go out of her way to help, and is very patient. I suck at math and did well in both of these courses. Also, ask her about her pi tattoo.
TAKE HER! The professor teaches in a very organized format, it's easy to follow the notes. If you do the reviews, you should be able to make an A on the tests. The textbook homework counts for 5 bonus points on the exam, and she puts a bonus question on half the exams. Sometimes she's sarcastic, but she's really cool.
Test are problems are not like anything you will see on the homework or in class there was multiple times where i knew how to do the calculus but just got lost in the algebra since i had never seen it before.
Ms. Buxkemper is one of the best math teacher I've ever had! She explains things really well and makes the class interesting and easy. She is very sarcastic and funny, which makes the class entertaining. She gives out extra credit for every test and there is homework for every class; however, she drops the three lowest daily grades for each unit.
She is the best prof. I've ever had. All you have to do is the homework and you can guaranteed pass with a C the tiniest bit more of work and A is totally possible. Cal 2 is very difficult subject matter but she passes it on very well and is always there for questions. I never once left class feeling like I had no idea what was going on. No regrets
She was an awesome teacher. If you are semi decent at math you will get an A. There is homework on paper every class and online homework as well. If you do all of the paper homework and turn them in before the test you will get 5 points extra credit. TAKE HER! I loved this class.
Honestly, I'm not that good at math. I didn't take Calc in High school, BUT she makes everything clear. Easy to understand the material and makes sure you understand it. If you need extra help ask her after class. Do your homework its worth 5 extra points on your exam. Don't miss class because you could miss something important. She's the BEST
Dr. B is a fantastic professor. Class is an open environment, and participation and talking is encouraged. The tests were quite hard: I've taken this class before and I struggled. But she's amazing, and gives tons of partial credit and extra credit. Tremendous amounts of homework. Difficult to follow lectures, but she will elaborate so you get it.
Mrs B is awesome, her teaching style is what helped me really grasp cal 1, which lead me to take her for cal 2 also. She gives a decent amount of homework, but doing the hw is what really reaffirmed my grasp on the concepts. she can seem rude to someone new but once you really get to know her shes great. also the hw counts as extra credit on tests
she is the best! she was always available to help. During class she always made sure to let us know that if we needed her to stop and go over something, she would. Really cared and wanted us to succeed. Utilize her help! She's great. She does take the homework, but it's for your benefit.
Awesome professor, made math EASY and FUN I've never been a math person but she made it so easy to understand!!! Make sure to do the review before the tests and you'll kill it. Please take her she's amazing
Ms. B helped me remember some of the things I may have forgotten from high school calc. Ms. B is a solid teacher and she gives out at most 5 points of extra credit on each test, the only exception being the fourth exam which she can give up to 10+ more. As long as you pay attention in class and study on your own time, you'll be fine.
I had two main problems with this prof. One being she could never control a class and let students interrupt lecture constantly. Two being the excessive amounts of homework and tests that were unlike the reviews. I spent $1,000+ in tutoring due to the lack of material covered in class and the unclear assignments. She was a nice lady though.
LOVED HER. shes lively and wonderful. definitely not your typical boring math teacher. she really cares about your learning and genuinely wants you to succeed. a hard class that I definitely wouldn't have done well/ passed with a different prof. go to the college knowledge center. they're helpful. stay on top of hw. GO TO CLASS.
Mrs. B was an absolutely outstanding teacher and quite entertaining too. She genuinely cares about you understanding the content but by no means making it easier. MML homework is super easy, written isn't too bad and not excessive. Best advice is to go to class and take her up on her offers of help if you need it.
Very kind professor, lectures are very detailed and makes sure that you understand the material. There are many opportunities to get extra credit on exams and in the course. Take this professor if you can!
Ms. Buxkemper was one of the best professors I've ever had in my college career so far. Great prof, truly cares, and literally became a good friend of mine too.
She i a great professor and really cares about her students. Attendance is mandatory and you need to go to class everyday or you will be behind. She gives up to 5 points of extra credit from homework on the test. She wants to help everyone pass and is great at helping outside class in office hours. Test aren't too difficult. She is amazing.
The only real bad thing about Buxkemper is the amount of homework she gives, but if you do all of it it's worth it and will help your grade. Exams aren't too bad, and she gives some EC occasionally. As long as you pay attention and do your homework you'll be okay.
Ms. B was great! You have homework after every class and turn it in the next class. She only grades one problem on the homework and if you do all the hw's then you can get extra credit for the test. She is great at understanding things, so as long as you study and do the homework, you can definitely get an A!
I cannot stress this enough, if you have the opportunity to have the honor of being in AB's class, take it! She in absolutely amazing. 1324 is a generally easy class, but AB truly knows how to teach and is a wonderful prof. She cares about students and she cares about learning. Do all of the homework, it helps for tests, and you'll be great!
I would die for Dr. B. She was an absolutely amazing professor. She gives extra credit for every test and has a super clear grading criteria. The tests can be a little crazy hard at times but her class is worth it. If you get her, you won't be sorry. She's absolutely amazing!!
Great professor! There is a lot of HW, but she gives extra credit on exams for turning in the HW (which is for a grade anyway). Her lectures are easy to follow and she asks for understanding. Exams can be difficult but are manageable if you study. She drops the lowest exam grade and replaces it with the final, and that boosts your grade a ton.
This class was so disorganized. You never knew what was due or what was going to be thrown your way. The class was set up where you taught yourself through videos then the class time was "office hours." I was super disappointed and all of my time went to teaching myself. She replies to emails in one word and I would never take again.
To be frank, Ms. B is lazy. She flipped her class so now you have to watch the lectures and complete the homework before class. The only reason why she even has class is because it is mandatory for Blinn to take attendance. Her tests are all free response and she doesn't take the time to look through them. You get the grade the platform tells her.
I dropped this class after the class essentially became asynchronous. I specifically chose a different class format but Mrs. B did not listen to the classes concerns about the new lecture style. Her class is very unorganized. I got several 0's for assignments that she never mentioned in class and were not visible in the assignment category online.
Lectures were filmed and taught via a workbook that hardly helped on the difficult hw problems. Class was for questions over hw and the workbook which was helpful at times, but I was always left to teach the material to myself. Office hours are helpful, but overall hardest class I've taken even though I've always been good at math. Good luck.
Professor Buxkemper is a nice professor but very difficult to work with. She doesn't answer her phone calls or emails until much later, so if you have a question about a problem or how to do something for the class you'll probably have to figure it out yourself. Youtube is your friend. Don't slack off or you won't survive. Don't recommend this Prof
She has a reverse class structure where you learn at home and review/practice in class. The tests are very similar to the homework, and there are daily grades to prove attendance. If no one has questions or needs practice she will let you leave early. I would highly recommend this class if you are willing to do the work before class!
so easy, very light workload, easy tests, extra credit, always in a good mood, and very understanding. Take her!
Professor B really helps break down the material and loves to provide extra help when needed. She is always available outside of class on the weekdays and usually responds to emails in a timely matter. This is my favorite professor at RELLIS/Blinn, and she is super caring and understanding. Exams are straightforward and don't have curveballs.
She takes a while to respond to emails and has a flipped class structure for a majority of her classes. I took her for 2 (math 140 and precal) semesters and got a B+ in both and I am not very good at math but she is understanding and tests and homeworks are open for a while so you can handle other classes. Only grades are the notes, hw, and tests.
Terrible teacher. I took her online and all of her lecture videos were recorded at 5:30 AM, which wouldn't be a problem if they weren't plagued with errors. 80% of her class is Test-based, you can pass this class if you don't show up (10% of the grade) and don't do the hw (10% of the grade). She's nice and knowledgeable but is a terrible teacher.
She was not the best professor. She was very unorganized and often late to her own class. She would not open exams when she said she would because she forgot. Her class was honestly very frustrating because it was basically teaching yourself math. She is very nice, I just would not recommend taking her class.
Have mixed feelings on this prof. Sometimes she is more helpful and sweet than others. It is almost impossible to email with her. She has you watch the lectures at home before class and then she will do practice problems in class which is great. She does not do any form of curves on exams though. 4 exams and 1 cumulative final.
I enjoyed the flipped learning structure, but that may not be for everyone. Helpful in class with notes, questions, and hw. Grade based on hw (10%), participation (10%), 4 tests (60%) and the final (20%). Overall I had a good experience but didn't do well on the final whatsoever, I didn't feel prepared for it's difficulty so be wary of the final.
I was super nervous going into Calc II since I knew it was the hardest of the calculus classes. However, Mrs B. was super approachable, kind, and enjoyed helping students with math problems. She knows the subject matter is hard and wants you to succeed. She isn't homework heavy, but you definitely must focus on the material outside of class.
Andra Buxkempor is a nice lady, but she is not a very good professor. She was lazy (I taught myself everything in this class) and that is so frustrating because she is obviously very smart. I would like to write her a better review because I liked the environment in her classrooms, but she just assigned so much stuff that was completely irrelevant.
Ms. B is a great professor. The class was inverted so we would listen to lectures online and take notes, then come to class with questions/extra problems. I liked this method for learning because it made good use of both our time and the professor's time. Ms. B is very understanding and will go out of her way to help you. Great professor!
TAKE A DIFFERENT PROF
She's a pretty good prof that cares but my class started out as a full room with 32 students and I believe it ended with 10 or less which is pretty telling. She's nice but if you slip behind, you're behind. She takes up a page of your notes after every class as 'participation' then you're SOL if that's the note page you need for the homework.
One of the best math profs would take her again for calc 3 if that was a choice. You still need to study for the test but notes in class are very helpful and she is very kind about work. I would recommend that you do all the homework even though a few will be dropped. You will learn calculus if you put in the effort and try.
With a difficult course such as Calculus 2, Ms. B was an amazing prof to have, and would definitely recommend her to others. She is an extremely caring, understanding, and smart professor not to mention all the easy extra credit she offers. Only taken 3 L's all semester.
This class is weighted heavily on tests and daily homework due before and after every class. She knows calculus well but is not receptive when asking questions before or after class. I personally had to get outside tutoring, 4 hours a week to get a better understanding. The main problem was that she did not prepare the class for the final.
Math is a tough class, but if you put in the time to study the material, you should be fine. She always offered through homework assignments 5-10 extra credit points towards your next exam. Most of your overall grade will be determined by tests and only a little by daily work. She's a pretty decent professor if your looking to take this for credit.
Dr. B is my favorite math professor I've had. From day one she showed real care for her students and was always willing to go out of her way to help you understand a concept. Accessible outside class, she writes her emails short so be aware that she's not trying to sound rude. Tests are easy if you do the home-works. Final was ok. Dr. B is great!!!
Gives notes that you have to fill in during class so it's easy to follow along. Offers really easy extra credit for the tests. Super approachable & helpful during class and office hours! Had her for pre-cal & calc I (2413) & would defo recommend. Doesn't talk much about the final but gives a review so actually study and ask questions!
Lots of extra credit opportunities for each test. Cal 2 is tough but she makes it easier to understand with lots of examples. Tests can be challenging but study the reviews and ask questions. Lot of in-class work and homework but it does help. She is very nice and wants her students to succeed. Take her if you get the chance!!
Mrs.B is an amazing professor. She is down to earth, to the point, and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. She communicates what is expected of you right from the beginning and is easy to approach and talk to. She ensures the class is on the same page she is and asks if you need her to re-explain or slow down.Great professor for Math 1325.
Professor Buxkemper is a great instructor from a learning stand point. The one issue I had was that the tests and work in my math lab were harder than what was demonstrated in class. Still, I was able to pull out a solid grade in the class I was most concerned about being able to pass because my professor was able to get the information to stick.
If you are not good at math, I do NOT recommend this prof. I q dropped because I knew I wasn't going to pass. She leaves TONS of HW outside of my math lab. I had to teach myself the math and watch youtube videos to get through & she assumed that most of the class knew how to do the material. She is a nice lady I just recommend taking someone else.
Classwork is notes and a worksheet. Homework is a little more difficult yet she offers 10 extra credit points for having all the homework done come exam time. As long as you put in the time and effort, you'll pass. Tests were easier than reviews. I'm not a math student so I worked very hard for my grade. Reasonable prof, def recommend.
SHE IS THE BEST! Truly does not move on until you grasp material and makes sure you are understanding. I honestly could have done better in this class, but I just wanted to pass (I've taken it twice). Just do your work and go to class and she is so helpful!
Having taken precalc before, this class felt pretty easy. Gives lots of extra credit for doing the hw and printing out her notes. She teaches pretty well but the final is a bit tougher than her regular exams. LOTS of HW. She combines 2 lessons per lecture, assigns 2 online Pearson hw's and 2 paper hw's. Her reviews for exams are super helpful.
She has a bunch of homework, between paper homework and online my math lab homework. Her teaching style is not good in my opinion. Rather than genuinely teaching she just solves the problem without explaining. I'm really good at math but I struggled in this class.
If you need a good professor for 1324 I would 100% recommend taking this class. There was a lot of homework but that comes with every 8 week math class and she was lenient about grading the paper homework. The tests aren't too bad if you do the reviews and pay attention in class. As long as you do all the work and pay attention you can get an A.
Buxkemper is awesome. Very very nice lady, really does help and lectures make sense. Extra credit on every exam if you do all the homework. Gives a workbook at the start of class that you work out of which makes taking notes easy (also extra credit just for having the workbook). Tests are not bad, the reviews she posts are a lot harder than tests.
Explains things really well in lecture, the one time I missed the lecture I was totally lost for 3 weeks post hence. Conversely, if one cannot spare more than 2 hours per 3 days to work on homework, the class will remain highly challenging.
Great professor, she made the class super easy and as long as long as you do all the work. The written homework is pretty hard and tedious but makes sense. Tests are really easy, and the final is really easy. She always ended lecture really early which is great for an 8 am 100 minute lecture. I ended with a 98 before the final.
Professor B is one of the nicest and most caring professors at Blinn. She truly cares about her students and takes time to ensure every student has learned the material. There is a fair amount of online and in person homework but still manageable. She also offers a lot of extra credit on tests. If you are anxious about 1325, take professor B!
Prof. B. is great on so many levels. She teaches the material so well and will answer any question you have. The tests are 80% of the total grade but she gives 5-10 points extra credit, so it is very easy to get an A in this class. Best calc professor out there hands down.
Easygoing and light-hearted learning environment - passionate and effective lecturing. Love this professor!
Mrs. B was great, lectures were easy to understand but lots of homework. She does give extra credit if you print out the notes (you're going to want to do that) and if you do the review. Overall, would for sure recommend.
She is awesome! As long as you keep up with the homework and go to class, you will be completely good. If you are ever confused, go to office hours, she is always wanting to help. I would highly recommend taking her class!
Honestly one of the best calculus professors you can have, genuinely so helpful and she cares about her students. If you are ever confused go to her office hours and she will definitely help you! 10/10, highly recommend.
Professor B does an excellent job explaining the material. The tests are challenging but manageable with consistent effort. unstuckstudy was a great supplemental resource for test prep.
Buxkemper is truly a great teacher. Cares a lot about if you're actually understanding the material. The workbook notes for her class make it easy to follow along. I took the 8 week course which is brutal (lot of hw) but she's very open to helping her students offering a lot of extra point opportunities.
Professor B is truly one of a kind. She really cares for all her students and is ready to work and help you in any way she can. She does give a lot of homework but that's an 8 week course for you. She also gives lots of EC and drops a lot of grades. She want's you to succeed and has a strong passion for what she does. Taking her again for 1325!
Best Math professor there is. An absolute blessing. Her tests are very laid out and simple. She is hilarious, and she was always there for office hours when I needed to ask a quick question about the homework. Kinda a lot of homework, but she teaches great. Also the class was like 2 and 1/2 hour class, we were always out in like 1 hour
Professor Buxkemper is truly a great mathematics professor. She made lectures engaging and provided clear and helpful explanations for math problems. She also gave a lot of extra credit on exams which motivates students to study the material and achieve higher grades on exams. I highly recommend taking her!
Best math professor ever. She explained the lesson to where you can understand it. She was hilarious and very understanding when turning homework in late. She has extra credit and is always available during office hours
