She is awesome! I LOVE her! She's way funny, but in a really intellegent way. I had her at 8 in the morning, but I still wanted to go to her class so i could hear her talk. Plus, she's really understanding--she's willing to come to rexburg on a saturday to help you with your speeches.
I thought she was nice and somewhat of a pushover. Kinda confusing. She lectures forever, rambles, and seems to talk to herself. She is always willing to help. Nice lady, but I got annoyed of her class early. She is a pretty rough grader on your papers. You better have near perfect punctuation or you wont get an A.
Hansen is great when it comes to taking time to help you out. She grades papers incredibly hard for a 111 class and is not real clear during her lectures,?she kinda rambles about whatever? this is entertaining but confusing. She expects a lot and some of her assignments are overwhelming and busy-work but informative.
I really liked her class. She is a really good teacher. most of the time is spent lecturing, but the lectures do help you on your speech. There are not very many assignments over the course of the semester, but the assignments that are given, are graded pretty tough. Maybe a little too tough for a 100 level course. Overall, it was a good clas.
Lots of busy work. Lectures are awful. Book is useless. Grades very hard. I fell like I am in the 60's when I am in her class. Expect to sit in a circle and read your work outloud. Would never take a class from her again.
Likes to talk about nothing. Rambles alot! Doesn't consistently show up to class, so you come prepared to sit and see if she shows up. VERY slow on grading, you won't get your paper back in time for your next one to be due. Hard grader, not very fair. Likes to give her opinion on everything. VERY flakey and not quite with it.
She is a good teacher. I learned a lot and there wasn't much busy work at all.
I really like the way that she teaches; she is so upbeat and willing to listen and also to share her views. She may be a bit tough on the grading, but hey, it's college not elementry school. I really enjoy her class a lot, it's great!
She is an amazing teacher who is very passionate about writting. She has expirence in what she is teaching and therefore seems more legit. She is very kind, patient, easy going and fun. I would gladly take another class with her if I could.
Sister Hansen is AMAZING! I learn so much from her. She doesn't teach in the same way most teachers do. She doesn't give the standard tests that most teachers give where you have to memorize a bunch of facts that you're going to forget after the test. She really helps you think about things and learn to understand them in your own way. Take her!
Very knowledgeable lady with interesting class discussions. However she grades pretty harsh on the content of your speeches. Most people I talked to in my class got B's it's difficult to get an A because of her grading.
Dont buy the text book, its expensive and we only used it once. She has a lot of good insights. Cool teacher, she grades hard, but she will make you work for a good grade. If you have no interest in public speach I wouldnt take the class from her, as it is a difficult class to get an A in. There are other Speech teachers that are much easier.
She is an awesome professor and if I was single and out of college I would seriously consider dating her. Definitely a wonderful and extremely attractive woman. Sister Hansen You still GOT IT
Sister Hansen is on top of things. She Makes learning very fun and she is VERY intelligent. People complain about how difficult her grading is, but she is by far one of the best teachers in the Comm dept. If you want to slide through college without learning anything, don't take her. If you want to really learn things that will help you, take her
I took Sister Hansen for Persuasion and she is brilliant. She doesn't teach lessons, she directs discussion, encourages thought, and gets excited about reading our thoughts in journals and essays. In fact, she sends them back full of notes not just about errors, but about our thoughts and adds thoughts of her own. I LOVE it.
Sister Hansen is a brilliant teacher! She knows so much. She loves to listen to her students and what they have to say. She is extremely understanding. She is really funny too. I would absolutely recommend her!
She's really helped open up my mind and allow me to think about my own opinions. She knows her stuff.
She teaches very well and we have great class discussions. My only problem with her is she requires you to buy an online membership to a website you will hardly use. Not all of us have money just to throw away.
Probably the best teacher I've had here so far. The workload is very reasonable and she'll help you with any problems so that you can get an A.
This class was fun and Sister Hansen helps give you real hands on learning to apply persuasion. I would not take this class from anyone else but her!
Sister Hansen is hilarious! I wish more teachers were like her and accpeted that in the classroom all can learn, and students do not need to regurgitate information in order to "learn". Highly recommend her!
She is awesome. Media Law and ethics. The course was hard, but she made it fun.
She is AMAZING! One of my favorite teachers by far. She's great at keeping things interesting and and she is very helpful.
Sister Hansen tends to waste a lot of class time, but nevertheless is a very competent teacher. She respects everyone and is always willing to take suggestions from the class. Just keep her on topic. Anyway, I plan on taking her speech class in the fall just because I enjoyed her class so much.
Amazing teacher. Helped inspire me beyond the course. She helped me in many ways. She is still helping out with the charity I created in her class. Take her.
Sis. Hansen is a very inspiring teacher who wants you to learn to become a better person-- not just a better student. She does not take attendance which I loved and she lets you take responsibility for your own learning. She does tend to ramble a bit during lectures and class time is not the most interesting at times. I still enjoyed though!
Sis Hansen is inspiring. I never thought I could have been interested in law. She has a very creative way to bring dull and difficult material to life. Her brain has a way of seeing every angle. Just when you think you understand a subject she opens it up to a completely different view. she also cares about you and wants you to succeed.
Great teacher. If you have special circumstances, she will work to help you. She grades based on knowledge and not on whether you filled in the wrong bubble. Visit her in her office to clarify content and test, and she'll raise your grade. By test scores I should have gotten a B, but she gave me an A. The best media law option.
I LOVE Sis Hansen. One of my favorite teachers; really hope I can take her again. She teaches you things that really stick, and in a way that you will apply them to life. Her assignments aren't really hard, but they WILL challenge you. However, she tells you exactly what she wants, and makes herself SUPER available to you, WHENEVER you need her.
Persuasion is a great class, and an amazing class when taught by Sister Hansen. No teacher has had a greater impact on my life. I owe her so much.
She is a wonderful person overall and a great teacher. I am impressed by how smart she is and how well she expresses herself. Her eloquent speaking and flexibility to help students make it possible for all students to succeed. I want to be like her!
Sister Hansen was probably the best teacher I have had so far in college. She taught me to strive for "deep learning." This pushed me to learn and become as much as I could. She has a high expectation and her class requires a lot of hard work. However, she definitely makes a way for every student to succeed and excel. Highly recommend her to anyone
She is very liberal and because she is an english teacher, she wont give an A on any paper with more than 2 mistakes. She doesnt appreciate conservative comments. A paper is due every week. She wants you to think of choices to make other than what the church or your family would want you to make. "you need better thinking." full of cunning comments
I bet you that in her 20's sister Hansen was pretty smoking. But other than being good looking, she's actuallu a really great teacher. She speaks intelligently and is an overall great person. Very loving and caring. The only thing is that she's pretty disorganized on i-learn. But other than that i actually feel like i grew and learned a lot. Great
I personally found this to be one of the most influential classes I have yet taken here at school. It really did change me. Sister Hansen is a fantastic teacher. Don't let any complainers tell you otherwise. She makes the awesome and personally transformational if you are willing. She is very easy to work with and goes above and beyond to help you.
Wonderful teacher. Her class can be a little tough due to being disorganized and at times confusing. She is extremely helpful when you ask questions. Would spend lots of time with students to make sure they understood things. Very nice and caring person and teacher. I have learned so much from this class. Great class and teacher!
She will either be your favorite or least favorite. She is passionate and cares a lot about you as a student but she also teaches primarily through lecture...almost no participation. She will give you her soapbox at the beginning of each period which drags. Class is structured for a lot of listen time to other's projects which is very un-engaging.
I like her as a person. Want an A? Answer the questions with the most bogus, hippie garbage possible. If you go visit her, she will do your assignment for you pretty much. She doesn't use I-learn very well so you email everything and pray it gets to her and graded. She is nice and wants to help. She will always give you the benefit of the doubt.
This class was disorganized. Due dates didn't mean anything. Our final project was to research a problem that someone else has so we can know how to help them. I found this to be rather demeaning and not useful to myself or the imaginary person I made up to do the assignment. My favorite part of the class the critical thinking assessment.
She didnt grade a single assignment till the last week of school then expected us to make corrections. She lost several of my assignments because she refuses to use ILearn. Goes off on rediculous tangents during class that do not pertain. Took her 20 minutes to introduce an in class test when it should have taken 2. Does not respond to emails
Sister Hansen cares about her students. If you reach out to her she will help you out as long as you need it. She seriously cared that I got an A in her class and she made me love communication law. Study, work hard, and go to her for help and not the answers and she will help you. She doesn't help students that just want her to give the answers.
BEST TEACHER ON CAMPUS. She is the type of professor that you take if you want to change your life. It doesn't matter the content, she will change your life if you let her. She wants us to be able to think critically and stand on our own two feet with our learning, yet is so helpful whenever needed. TAKE HER!!! Inspirational and cares about you.
Sister Hansen is awesome! Her class makes me feel smart, which is always a plus. Media law is really difficult to understand. Sister Hansen never dumbs it down for you, but rather, she explains it in a way that helps you understand it better. I also loved that the class was pretty flexible if you work with her.
Likable & potential to be a great teacher. Unfortunately, it is lost on her hour long "self-indulgent" rants. Her words & actions never coincide. She didn't open/grade assignments & talks badly about past/present students in class, which is unprofessional. I didn't need inspiration -just taught & be prepared, her poor planning is your emergency.
- If you schedule a time to meet with her, she either doesn't show up or she gets so hung up on doing something else that she can make you wait up to an hour. - She waits until the end of the semester to grade your papers so that's when you get official feedback. (In lieu of grades she says she'll meet with you for feedback but rarely does.)
Hansen is an AMAZING teacher; easily one of the best in the entire University. She will expect you to earn your grade, but there won't be any surprises - She is always willing to work with students and will often do just as much as you will to ensure you get the grade you want. One of the few teachers who truly cares and works for their students.
The greatest thing about Sis. Hansen and this class is they both get you extremely involved with actual issues in the community. She likes to "pop the bubble" of the classroom and give students real world experience that makes a difference. She may be more liberal, but it's clear she wants to promote involvement and growth, not her personal views.
Sister Hansen is such a neat teacher. I learned probably the most from her when it comes to speaking professionally with other people without degrading them. She expects us to use our minds and to think about issues appropriately. When she starts a lecture, be prepared to laugh. She may not think she Is funny, but she is hilarious! Self awareness
Sis. Hansen is by far the BEST professor I've ever had. She is anti-busy work and 100% dedicated to the success of her students. She is open to discussion and doesn't just "spew facts", but really encourages her students to learn and explain their thought process. She is so willing to help her students and is a great mentor! Take her classes!
The tests are the hardest but the way they are formatted in groups helps you learn. Hansen is the most real, down to earth teacher on campus. She has an opinion and she sticks by it. Very intelligent and caring. Would take more classes from her if I could.
This class was a really hard class, but I learned so much. She gets you excited about the law. The test are very difficult and time consuming, but she basically gives you two free answers and you can appeal. I was really surprised how much I learned and although it was difficult, I learned so much. She is just a really neat teacher.
Best teacher here.
I LOVE SISTER HANSEN. Unlike any professor I've ever had. She is one of the most empathic people I know. She has her flaws like everyone else, but she is not prideful. She is willing to listen and has an open mind. She is always willing to admit she is wrong if she is. The best thing about Sister Hansen is her deep respect for her students.
Ethics and Media Law was TOUGH, I won't lie, and Sis. Hansen really makes you work for your grade. On the other hand, she does her best to make it worth it. I learned a lot. She's also a little bit scatterbrained; sometimes we wouldn't get our test grades for weeks at a time. But a solid, solid choice.
This class is INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT!! BUT, Sister Hansen is an amazing teacher. She really really cares about her course AND her students. I was in contact with her throughout the semester for help and guidance. She didn't hesitate to give advice and help. The material, while difficult to understand, is important to know! Expect to read a lot!!
She has been one of my favorite teachers here. This class will make you work, but if you are willing to put in that work your grade will reflect that. She really cares and while it can be difficult, it is ULTRA rewarding. She wants you to succeed. It is best to take this class with her in person, the online class has some kinks it needs to work on.
Andra Hansen is one of the most caring and understanding people I've ever met. She cares more about the students than the actual class, and even if you fail, she will work with you to help you pass. She has a heart of gold, and will help anyone with anything. Her tests are brutal, but they are the only assignments the whole semester. Recommended.
"Education is not so much the filling of a bucket as the lighting of a fire." Andra is a gifted teacher and mentor who ignites love for learning within her students. Her teaching style is genuine, clear, relatable, effective, and enjoyable. No busy work. Class time is fun and very rewarding. Every opportunity to associate with Andra is a delight.
Andra Hansen is very much a loving and caring person. But as a professor I would not take a class from her again. She gets easily distracted, often goes on rants and is unorganized. When I email her or text her she either doesn't reply or replies weeks after even after reminding her in class. Again, great person, not my favorite professor.
Amazing class with literally no homework/busy work. Grade is based on 4 tests. Tests are difficult but doable if you put in the effort. Sister Hansen is very intelligent and caring. She won't let you fail if you are trying - in fact, she promises that. Her lectures are rambly and she gets off topic but gives you what you need for the tests.
This class gave me invaluable, real world experience which prepared me for my career in community outreach. Andra is basically Mother Theresa - so fun and amazing to learn from. This class offers opportunities to develop skills in strategic communication, outreach, organization, flexibility (haha), etc. I recommend this class to everyone!
This class changed the way I think. Andra is educated, respected, and treats her students like adults. She's the first professor I've ever had who doesn't baby us. Pace yourself and put in the effort on the 4 tests and you'll pass. No other homework. Her lectures are so interesting, the hour flies by.
Andra is an amazing person and very intelligent. She gets really busy with various things and it can be hard to keep up with the units because she has so much going with her work and other classes. You have to do a lot of extra studying on many cases in order to do well on her exams. She is understanding and will help you pass if you put in effort.
Andra is seriously one of the nicest and most understanding people you will ever meet. She really knows her stuff but she is extremely unorganized. She rarely responds to emails or texts, and she is constantly moving assignments around and changing what she wants done. She also didn't grade any of my assignments until the last week of the semester.
Andra has great ambition, she knows a lot, but her chaotic teaching style WILL stress you out. Good luck.
Ethics and legal issues is graded entirely on 4 tests. I hate tests but I loved this class. There's an appeals process so you can get points even for questions you got wrong and you can take the test in a group. Sister Hansen is an amazing teacher, caring, flexible, and smart, makes you think, and really cares that you succeed. Hard but worth it.
Sister Hansen is hands down my favorite teacher I've had at BYUI. She is caring and wants the best for her students. This class is known for being one of the hardest COMM classes, but she makes it interesting and worthwhile. Tests are hard, but the appeal system she has in place is great. It's a very fair class, especially with grades. Took W2020.
Professor Hansen was unorganized. She never responded to emails. She was terrible at answering question. She never gave clear instruction for homework. She cancelled class and homework assignments. You will be left confused all the time. Good luck. She is a very nice lady, terrible professor.
Sis. Hansen is great and really understanding. However the class is so messy and unorganized. I have no idea what I'm doing and she does not respond to emails/texts outside of class. She is very sweet and knows what she's talking about -- the class is just very messy and confusing. Hoping she's better for COMM 352.
Sister Hansen is a horrible teacher. I couldnt stand her liberal political views and rants. She has 4 tests, that's it. After failing the first two tests, I figured out that there was no way I could pass so I stopped attending. I would recommend taking this class online from a different teacher, that's what I did and it was way better, got an A.
This class was frustrating. Sister Hansen consistently changed due dates and assignments, never used I-Learn and left the class confused. Grades were posted a month after the exam. This class has 4 exams that constitute your entire grade. Email responses were sparse. If you are a student who likes to know what is going on, do NOT take this class.
Sister Hansen is a kind woman who cares about her students. However, she does not understand how to teach a good class online. There is no consistency to the class and she does not use I learn so you'll never know what is due. Class lectures are usually just her opinion about something vaguely related to the class. Not an educational experience.
She knows a lot but the absolute CHAOS and messiness to her teaching style caused so much stress. I never knew what was due when since nothing is ever posted or written down. VERY liberal, and she shares her personal political views all the time.
I really wish another professor taught the advocacy courses at BYU-I. Sis. Hansen is nice and very knowledgeable about what she teaches, but is a frustrating professor. Contacting her outside of class is impossible, she's never clear about assignments and grades everything at the end of the semester which leaves everyone confused and frustrated.
This class was really frustrating. She is honestly such a kind woman but her class is the most unorganized class I have ever had. There were only 4 assignments due the entire semester but we had no rubric, no instructions, and really no clue what she wanted in them. Even worse? She's the only teacher available for the course so good luck.
She really cares about her students and helping them pass! She's not the easiest to contact out of school but she is very, very, VERY understanding!
Sister Hansen cares about all of her students. She told us that if we were to put the time and effort into our exams and attend class, then she would make sure that we all passed. I did not really enjoy the class but Sister Hansen made it better for me. Big warning though, she is difficult to reach outside of class!
I have a love/hate relationship with her. She is so cool. I'd want to be her friend outside of school. She has three major projects throughout the semester and they're all extremely time consuming, but that's college. She grades everything at the end of the semester which is frustrating. I took this class as an elective. DON'T DO THAT.
Andra is a truly amazing person with a kind heart but she will be the first person to admit that her class is incredibly unorganized. You will have 4 tests, each test she lets you work in groups of 2-3 and gives you the test 2 weeks in advance. Tests are EXTREMELY difficult though so don't underestimate them, make sure to communicate with Andra.
Andra is an amazing person, but the course is not organized at all. Everything is sent over email so no instructions are on canvas. There are only three huge projects throughout the entire course and they are not broken into chunks either. Attendance is not mandatory, but you will be graded on that and participation at the end of the semester.
She is a very disorganized teacher. She would spend the majority of the hour talking about an opinion. She also mumbles when she teaches. There are 4 tests that are supposed to confuse you. You're supposed to work in an assigned group, but this wasn't enforced. If you don't become friends with people in the class then you will fail the test.
Andra is a great teacher but not very organized. If you can learn to produce great work with little direction, you will be fine. This class seemed stressful at first, but it is not that bad when you work ahead and on time. Andra is not easily accessible outside of class, so beware. Her grading is not tough at all as long as you offer good effort.
I absolutely love Andra! Every class I have taken from her has been my favorite! She is a one-of-a-kind professor that truly cares about your success! She teaches more than just the required material but provides students with life lessons and guidance. Could not think of a better professor than Andra! My absolute favorite person.
Sister Hansen is very caring. She gives good feedback on assignments. The class only has 3 major assignments the whole semester. They are pretty intense and it can be difficult to get in touch with her outside of class for extra help. The expectations are sometimes very unclear and scattered and it's difficult to understand what she wants.
This class has very little direction at the beginning and she never posts grades, like grades don't exist in Canvas. She lectures a lot but she is very kind and caring and wants to help you succeed! It's not a hard class to pass.
This class was such a frustrating, disorganized mess. Due dates were constantly changed or abandoned on a whim, grades were inconsistent and Andra was often late to her own classes or Zoomed in from another state. I didn't learn persuasion at all, I just learned her opinions on issues. It is required for a COMM Major but it felt like such a waste.
She gets distracted easily in class but knows her material very well. Is very open to criticism and is very willing to work with you. If you work with her she won't let you fail this class.
Basically an hour of confusing ranting. She seems to make up assignments on a whim, and have no criteria. There's no structure she follows. She literally just talks, and goes on weird side tangents. Also extremely hard to get a hold of. She seems like she means well, but she should not be a teacher. Dont take.
Not a good teacher. She is always going on political rants that last for the entire class. She makes up the syllabus of the class and changes assignments and grades based on whatever she wants. She is extremely political, and that bothered me a lot. A classroom is not the place for that, especially when it goes against church teachings.
Sister Hansen is amazing! I took her community outreach practicum, and I loved it! As long as you participate and put in your best effort, you'll do great. Minimal workload but a great outcome and learning opportunity.
get ready to zone out and do whatever you would like. she goes on rants about the most random things that have nothing to do with the class. also very political. we are doing "group projects" and have only met in our groups once in 5 weeks. it's an easy A class tho. i get a lot of homework done for other classes. bless her heart.
I took several classes from her, and she is a wonderful teacher; you could feel the Spirit. Sister Hansen is one of the purest souls you can ever meet. You meet with her, and she is willing to help you in any way she can with no hesitation. Yes, she gets sidetracked, but if you ask her questions about the material, she will be so eager to help.
