She has a no laptop policy, so be ready with a notebook. She writes the notes on the board as you go and doesn't use lecture slides so it is easy to follow along. She is EXTREMELY HELPFULl during office hours if you don't understand something - she wants you to understand. Do the hw and optional practice and you will do good on the midterms :)))

I enjoy her method of writing notes rather than using slides, which helps to understand the steps to a problem as you go along. Her office hours are especially helpful since class is so fast. I wish there were more opportunities for assignments to pad your grade before an exam. Also, more practice materials would be nice. She is very caring.

This isn't that difficult of a course, but Professor Hiriscau's lectures can be pretty boring as she basically verbatim reads her slides that are ripped directly from the textbook. The tests are also questions taken right out of the textbook, so you could get away with never showing up to class as long as you read and do the textbook questions.

I took intro micro with her last year and loved her so I took intro macro with her too and she proved herself again. i only had to go to class for exams and still pulled out an A. Very light workload and everything said in lectures are on posted powerpoints. Tests are very straighforward and multiple choice.

Extremely easy compared to AP Macro and easier than McHenry's Micro (great prof). Only complaint was required textbook was overpriced ($124.99). Reading it is more work than it's worth. Everything you need is on the slides. You could not attend class and you would be fine (she mostly reads off the slides). I recommend going over practice questions.

3 Tests 30 MCQ and then a Final 65MCQ, Achieve makes up about 25 percent of your grade. Tests can be very hard and misleading at times. Final Exam though was straightforward and not to bad. Take practice exams on achieve.

Class is made up of only multiple choice exams which can make grades interesting, but if you do better on the final than any of the 3 midterms she replaces your grade. There's also weekly podcasts and questions that count for a small portion of the grade. Overall, Hirascau is a great lecturer and cool person and would recommend this class with her

If you can take professor Hiriscau for principles, do it. Her teaching style is easy to follow along, and she makes the lectures interesting by breaking them up with practice problems and real world examples. There is a $130 dollar online software you have to buy, but because of that there is no textbook.

Class is interesting, and lectures come straight from textbook, so you do not have to read. The end of chapter problems and practice exams are really helpful when studying and are similar to exams. One issue is that exams were only 30 questions, so if you missed a couple questions it brings down your grade a lot.

It does not get more straightforward than Hiriscau. She's clear, makes notes available on BlackBoard, and puts in grades fast. Nice woman and easy grader. I appreciate her patience in sitting down with me for 30 mins after one class to review content. Keep up with all of the assignments and you will be fine. Highly recommend.

Professor Hiriscau is a great teacher. Macro is generally harder than micro but she makes it very doable. Her tests are purely multiple choice and they're pretty easy except she will ask a few random out of the blue questions that can mess up your grade. BUT if you study and read the questions carefully at least a B+ is guaranteed.

Great prof, found this class much easier than micro. Three cumulative midterms, one final, and the Achieve textbook practice make up your grade. There are a lot of formulas to memorize but you get a formula sheet on the final. My only issue was with Achieve because it gives unhelpful explanations for questions but other than that I would recommend.

Professor Hiriscau was a great professor who thoroughly covered the topics. Tests were on the harder side, especially if you didn't take micro in high school. Tests were all multiple choice and on paper. The textbook was an excellent study resource with practice quizzes. Only an hour of homework per week.

Definitely easier than micro with her, but still requires attentiveness and preparation for tests. Tests all MC and on paper. Properly utilize the textbook with practice problems and you will excel in this class (especially if you have taken macro in high school). Go to office hours and get help if you need it.

I don't know how she has such a good score. She was so bad and every person I have talked to agrees with me. Is it the end of the world if you have to take her? no. but avoid! the slides she uses are not even hers, she taight us a version of a graph that exists no where else, her exams focus on the most random things. people look depressed.

For this class, you do not need to be in lecture and do reading, choose only one. The textbook/homework is $125, so if you don't want to pay for that, don't take this class. Do the learning curve for each chapter to review for the exam.

So bad. I do not know any person who has not hated this class. Lectures where the slides are not hers and she skips through them so fast but you only need to know some of the stuff but she wont tell you what. Small exams so even one question off takes you down a bunch.

Hiriscau is super knowledgeable about econ but she's a pretty average professor. She posts all slides on Blackboard but I personally suggest going to as many lectures as possible since I got confused on concepts from lectures I missed. Tests do have few-ish questions but if you utilize Achieve & all the practice questions it has it's very helpful.

I have never rated a professor this low. Econ of Crime should be a very interesting class; however, she makes it extremely hard. The majority of students in the class were left confused due to rushed lectures and mystery topics she never taught coming up in exams and homework. Please avoid if you don't want to make your semester a nightmare.

Hiriscau is not bad by any means, but 102 just isn't a fun class to begin with. The tests are mcq's that are almost all from the online practice problems, so yay I guess but everything is just so dry. She also sometimes tells us to work with people beside us, but I stare at my notes & try not to cry. I never went to office hours but she seems nice!

This class was dry but enjoyable (if you are not interested in economics you probably won't enjoy it). Hiriscau was nice, homework and practice exams were great resources when studying for tests, and lectures were helpful. I rarely felt like tests included content I hadn't seen. I felt like expectations were clear and the work wasn't demanding.

Professor Hiriscau is amazing! While lectures are a bit dry, pay attention; if not, you'll regret it. Review the material after each class briefly so you aren't catching up before the test. This will also give you time to attend her office hours where she does a great job answering questions. There's no reason not to get an A. Just put in the work!

Straightforward class. Provides plenty of resources, shares lecture materials, and doesn't make test questions unfair or annoyingly deceptive. Always clear, organized and ready to answer any doubts. The only drawback is the expensive Achieve subscription you need for this class, though it comes with useful study materials and practice questions.
