Well, he makes it seem like college is the 13th grade. If your not there on time or leave early he will lower your score and treat you differently. He chooses favorites. Tests are every two weeks and he gives hw every night.
ATTENDANCE! or your grade will go down. Yes it's like a high school teacher. Other than that, the class is pretty straight-forward and he's also very helpful and approachable. He has a bit of an accent, which makes him hard to understand sometimes. Good for intermediate algebra.
By far... the absolute worst teacher I have ever taken in my entire life. He blows through the lectures, mumbles, writes examples so quickly you cant even comprehend whats going on. He explains very little, and when he does it does not help. Has a bad accent. Tests are hard, and have nothing to do with material learned. Hw is tedious and all online
Really, the guy's not bad. He a bit dry. Really tried to help students lift their grades who were falling behind in the last third of the semester. This was Intructory Algebra. He really made an effort to meet the student where their abilities were at.
Show-up on time! Show-up for class! If you don't, he interpruts this as an uncaring student and yes, you might pay for it. He's wicked smart and was trained well in the old school. Ask for help and he will. Wants serious students in his class. You will learn. He's dry, plain, but a good teacher. Period.
He is absolutely rude. Today he was angry with another student and out of his rage he tells the whole class anybody can leave if they like (at this moment we were all done with our work and he had no more material that we were going to cover that day), and later on another student informs me that everyone who stayed got extra points on an exam.
I DON'T RECOMMEND HIM. Especially to those that already have a tough time with Math. M01 Material itself was fairly easy but the way he teaches makes it hard to comprehend. His accent is very strong, he writes on the board EXTREMELY fast and he'll ask why you're not paying attention if you ask a question. Nice, but I didnt like his teaching methods
If you attend class, take notes, and do the homework, you WILL pass. He is a very straight forward teacher and is there to simply teach the subject. Ask questions and he will help you! Occasional group work, collects homework day of test, study guides are very similar to his tests. He's not a bad professor by any means, just do the work!
Thick accent. Looks at you like you're stupid if you ask a question. Fair grading curve though. Wouldn't recommend this professor
He is one of the best statistics teachers. Attend, pay attention, do the homework and you will pass.I enjoyed the class and recommend to take him.
Excellent math instructor . I will take my stat course with him too.
I really enjoyed this class. The teacher lets you use one side of a notecard for test notes for each exam.
The guy is fair if you try. Do the hw and you'll pass. Show effort and you'll pass. I failed but you can too.
The first time I took his class I ended up failing it, the second time around I got a C. Be ready for a good amount of homework Long dry lectures Answers any questions you might have Strict grading on quizzes and tests Overall he was a pretty good teacher.
I ended up withdrawing from this class right before the W deadline. Lectures were very dry and boring. Class was disorganized: test dates were unannounced and homework wasn't collected until day of test (Procrastinators beware). If you can fend for yourself and have determination, I bet you'd be fine. But don't expect the lectures alone to help.
Professor Hakobyan may be knowledgeable in the given criteria, BUT he does not go about teaching in a helpful way. Extremely thick accent, dry lectures, loads up homework (which would be helpful if similar HW problems were actually on the tests/pop quizes), and he gets quite annoyed when you ask more than one question. DON'T RECOMMEND.
Wish i checked rate my professor before picking classes. Worst teacher. Longest most boring lectures. Doesnt help that he talks quietly and very monotone. Thick accent. Boring. Expects everyone to know the material right away, would not reccommend. DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THE TEXTBOOK. He uses aleks, did not look at textbooks once.
All the notes are available on drop box (way easier than trying to write all the information down). His lectures are pretty clear, however if you are still having trouble you just have to go up to him and it becomes one-on-one tutoring. Homework is okay and usually due on the day of the exam. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!! Just know the arithmetic!
He is there to help you to pass with best possible grade. Lectures are clear, and expectations are reasonable. Attend, do the homework and you will pass.
Awesome teacher 3 test and a final with some extra credit. Very clear when explaining what we were expected to know for the exams.. Would take him again for sure.
Professor Hakobyan is an excellent teacher who truly wants you to succeed. He teaches the content to the best of his ability while trying not to confuse you with excess info too soon before grasping its content. I recommend watching relevant Youtube videos on the chapter to stay up to base. If you do, you'll understand every session. Take him
He gives allot of homework and will collect it randomly. He usually gives pop quizzes at beginning of class. He likes to lecture allot and he teaches stats so he has high expectations does not have the patience with introductory alegebra students he likes to teach one method and does not ike to give other methods thinks the foil method is stupid.
Explained math in a way I could understand. He gives lots of homework but it helps you practice and really learn the material. attending class and being on time really matters in this class.
Decent teacher. Allows cheat sheet on one side of index card for every test. Can look at you like you're stupid if you ask a bad question so beware. Also, he drops one test. Home work is mandatory
Mr. Hakobyan is very caring and he'll never brush you off when you ask him for help
Amazing teacher, and an overall caring guy who will not rush you or degrade you when you ask him for help
I was doubtful when I chose his class because of his low rating on RMP, but overall a pretty decent professor. Allows a cheat index card on each of his tests, so as long as you have practiced the formulas on the copious amount of homework he assigns, you'll do great on every test. He is also a generous grader, and gives partial credits on wrong ans
Best Math teacher I have ever had. He explains why you use formulas, how they work and breaks down how to do each step of a process. You will learn math instead of just doing it to pass. Would recommend him to everyone for any kind of math. Very knowledgeable.
I don't know how to pronounce his name but I went the whole semester without having to. He is a fantastic professor. He teaches the whole class valuable graphing calculator tricks and even made math fun. He assigns a manageable amount of homework. Explains concepts very clearly. 4 quizzes, 4 exams, 1 group project, 1 cumulative final. Easy A
Exams and quizzes are exactly like his lectures and example problems. He is very caring and wants his students do well. He will never give you a pop quiz. Gives extra credit and allows a note card cheat sheet on every exam, on some quizzes, and on the accumaltive final. This was one of the easiest classes, I highly recommend.
He is a great teacher !!! Loved his lectures they are clear and easy to understand. He gives practice quiz prior to each exam. He reviews and answers all your questions. Amazing teacher classroom work is given and he reviews same day if not he will make copies of the answers for you to review at home.
Stats is a hard subject to learn, and Professor Hakobyan did his best. The pace is pretty fast, with constant homework and exams every 2-3 weeks. There's a group project at the end of the semester that was poorly timed and stressful.
I love him! He is such a good professor and really wants everyone to understand the subjects. The grades are based on quizzes and tests. There is classwork and homework but it does not weigh as much. If you try and go to class its an easy A
its an extremely hard class to begin with. he is very funny if you get to know him but he has a very thick accent that can make it not only hard to pay attention but to understand. happy to answer questions and the final is cumulative. im lucky I got a C.
Best math teacher I have ever had. Gives a lot of homework but its only for your benefit and understanding of the material. He was patient and funny. So glad I got to work with him.
He is very kind and probably one of the best math teachers at Moorpark. He encourages to ask questions, and answers to all homework questions. The exam is similar to study guide. No pop quizzes.
I really recommend this professor for algebra courses. He explains things very neatly. The tests are similar to the study guides. Just do your homework and study the review and you will pass.
the class is pretty easy, there is homework for every chapter. Quizzes and tests are very similar to what he goes over in class, he gives an additional 2% for everyone on almost every test (that's your extra credit). You are allowed a flash card for every test. An easy A
Would not recommend unless you are already decent at math. PROS: gives extra credit and lets you use a note card. CONS: extremely strict about being late/absent. he will drop you. moves too fast while teaching and doesnt explain well. not very approachable to ask questions. tons of hw. only take him if you have some prior understanding of stats.
Kinda brushes through stuff. Shows you the problem and how he does it but really rushes through the explanation and doesn't explain it well. Doesn't go in depth. Nice guy but not so good at teaching the material. Problems done in lecture feel very rushed. If you don't pick up material right away this is not the class for you. Lots of homework!
Professor Hakobyan has been an outstanding professor. The class is a decent amount of work, but he always takes the time to thoroughly explain the material to the class. He uploads videos to Canvas so you can watch them yourself. Most importantly, he has made the transition to an online setting smooth for us with the outbreak too. Great job!
Professor Hakobyan is a great professor! Zoom is very helpful he explains all chapters and answers any questions regarding the lecture. He uploads lecture notes and any resources regarding the class on Canvas. Also, he did a great transition going online.
he always willing to help, and explained in details. Hwk every chapter, every 12 CH. hv a quiz, every 34 CH. hv an exam, in case u messed up one exam, he will use ur final exam score to cover that one. Never hv pop-up quiz, follows the study guide, he never surprised students. free tutoring on 3/f in the Library!! and free zoom tutoring too!!
This course was not difficult at all. Professor Hakobyan records all of his Zoom lectures and posts them online for students who can't make it, or wish to rewatch the lectures. The homework is manageable, and the tests can be aced with minimal effort. He is also very approachable for help with assignments. Take his course!
About Mr. Hakobyan and how to pass his class: 1. He doesn't approach math with arrogance and expects that students are taking this class to fulfill their math transfer needs. 2. Mr. Hakobyan speaks in plain terms, DO NOT overthink this class and its definitions. 3. DO NOT get an outside tutor, get into a group and study on weekends. 4. Do the WORK!
This class is pretty great! Attendance is not mandatory, but Professor Hakobyan gives a lot of extra credit for attendance. He also uploads the lectures online so you can watch it later at your own pace. Overall, this was a pretty easy and interesting course.
Take him! Mr. H is such a great professor. He really cares about his students and will do what he can to help you pass. He made Statistics easy to learn and is great at explaining. Definitely attend class to understand the material and do the homework! The homework isn't hard, trust! He also gives clear study material before exams.
Professor made stats easy to understand. The way you learn is by listening to him go through the examples. He is honestly a great person and truly cares about the students. Just show up, and pay attention and you will be fine.
Honestly great professor! Helped me a lot during this class since stats isnt my number one subject im great at. just pay attention and do the homework and youll be good to go.
Professor Hakobyan is great! His lectures are amazing and he makes the information very easy to grasp. He does have an accent, but I never had any problem understanding him, and neither did my classmates. He tends to add extra points onto tests and give extra credit, and he wants to see you succeed. There is one group project but it's not hard.
Professor Hakobyan is a great choice for stats! He explains the material very well and is willing to go back over it if you do not understand it. There were three exams, multiple quizzes, an easy group project + a comprehensive final. All of these were very manageable due to his excellent teaching style and he prepares you well for the exams.
Dr. Hakobyan is by far one of the best professors Ive had. He is also caring. Took a summer class but had to drop due to study load and working.
Do not take him if you are trying to pass he's making this class more difficult than it should be and the way he's teaching is so boring
Dont second guess yourself and take this Professor. During the pandemic he is more than ever understanding when it comes to tests and homework. He will go over a problem as many times you need for everyone to understand. Professor truly made me enjoy this math class. TAKE HIM BEFORE HIS CLASS IS FULL!
I took Math-140 with Professor Hakobyan. It was a zoom class so we met on zoom twice a week. He uses Pearson MyLab which is very helpful and he gives you plenty of chances on assignments. Attendance is mandatory and he will call you out if you're late or absent. He answered emails very fast. He has an accent but repeats everything multiple times.
HE DOESNT RECORD THE THREE HOUR LONG LECTURE MANDATORY ATTENDANCE TO ALL ZOOMS The mymathlab has a "gradebook" section(lets you see hw/tests questions but cant edit if due date pass) and a "study plan"(extra questions that you can use to study) THIS CLASS IS MOSTLY SELF LEARNING teacher will help if you have questions just stay after class LUCKILY
Prof. Hakobyan is absolutely amazing. He is very kind, understanding and is always willing to work with you. He offers extensions and gives out extra points now and then. Be respectful and pay attention and you will pass. He uploads all of the lecture notes which was very helpful and he allows you to use notes on tests and quizzes. Light workload.
This whole class was on pearson. However he was very generous with dropping our lowest scores on various assignments. He also loves his students and is able to help and answer questions if necessary. Wasn't't too much homework but the homework was very helpful. Quizes and tests were very short and not too difficult. Very good professor.
Professor Hakobyan is very nice and very helpful whenever he can be. He truly cares about his students, wants them to learn the subject, and do their very best. He also cares about students' mental health so if there are any issues you may be having with this course, he is very helpful and supportive. Definitely recommend his class!
Mr. H was a great teacher though I taught myself most of the material because I needed to take my time. Very fair, funny, kind, and handed out plenty of extra credit. Unless math comes naturally, be prepared to study for around 6 hours a week. Not an easy class by any means but it's doable.
He is a good professor, very considerate of students' situations. Even though he explains pretty well, he does not record the 3 hour lectures, so be ready to go back and study the notes. This class for me was mostly self learning, but he just provided the material, other than that I pretty much taught myself with the help of his notes, and my lab.
Professor Hakobyan is an excellent professor who is very easygoing and understanding. His lectures are concise and I felt the exams were similar to what we covered in class. He also offers extra credit on exams to make up for mistakes made. Overall, I enjoyed the class and strongly appreciated his relaxed, caring manner.
Nice enough guy but hard to understand. Teaching can use improvement as he bases his teaching on notes and goes too fast during lectures.
Amazing prof. He is truly respected & kind, helpful. All homework, quizzes, tests are online, they are so easy. He cares about his students, always available online. Just follow his videos, notes, complete all assignments, if you have questions, schedule a meeting, is ALWAYS open to answer questions. Easy prof, respectable, I'd recommend his class.
Easy Professor , multiple attempts on assignments. Explain concepts in detail. Very much respected. Tests and exams are online. Very clear notes and videos on topics and Would take his class again. Easy on grades. Really wants to learn the concept then he is the guy. Really respected guy open to help. He sounds like strict but actually nice guy.
Today my course completed and gained B without putting any stress. I am lazy if I put little more effort my grade will be A . He explain concept very well. homework exams are straightforward. cool Professor multiple attempts allowed on assignment. Easy class getting spot in his class is tough . Usually filled up so fast. Open to help student
Not the best teacher when it comes to math. Firstly, talks very quiet and has a accent which makes him a little hard to understand. Lectures are very boring and tedious. The work is really boring and does not help you learn anything. Examples are way to brief to learn. Would of loved more examples and less talking about things that did not matter.
Mr. H is respected and kind Professor. Assig on mystatlab 5 attempts allowed on every Q. Assign quest will be on repeat on quiz and exam. Ready to clarify doubts and provides clear notes and explanation video. will provide partial mark on wrong ANS. exams will be online. Fast email response & available Online. Easy A and Cares about his student.
Professor Hakobyan is very helping nature. When ever facing issue with HW he is always ready to jump in explain the concept . His class is not that tough . Easy prof & online assignment ,test , quiz which are all similar. I have took math class with different Professor most of the test problems are not from the book. This class heaven to me.
Professor Hakobyan is good at teaching and if you have a good understanding of math already then this is the class for you. If you are not good at math or don't have a good memory like me, you will not do well in this course. No extra credit assignments are given but he may add extra points to quizzes or tests.
If you are planning on taking a stats course at MC, then this is the man. He is always ready to help you whenever you have doubts on any subject that you are unclear about. Great man, cares a lot about his students. He is amazing, and he is the go-to teacher for stats. He hosts office hours on every Friday of the week, and he has a always present.
He gives you everything you need to succeed in the class. Quizzes & tests are like the homework/classwork and he'll give extra points on tests. He's really quiet so I suggest sitting close to the front. Just remember to do the homework on mystatlab since he doesn't post reminders for it. Lecture notes are on canvas but attendance is still mandatory
He's a good teacher and helps explain the material further. Don't skip class because the lectures are important to pass. He was very helpful and funny in class. Towards the end of class, he would let us work together on assignments and this helps us get more familiar with the material. Overall, it's a really good class and teacher.
I took his night class and it ended up being pretty nice. he doesn't make the class hard its just math. he is nice and he will give you opportunities to make up quizzes if you miss class.
This professor for this specific class of mathematics is a decently good professor. Coming out of high-school straight into college, it's a big leap from having a teacher to having a professor. I feel that Hakobyan bridges that gap fairly well. My only negative thought is that the lectures could be more in depth, but I understand why they aren't.
This professor of mathematics is good. He is soft spoken but has a great personality and sense of humor. He allows time to work on homework during class time so he can provide assistance. The one thing I would have appreciated would have been grading being updated more frequently so you know where you stand during the weeks.
He was a nice professor and he is willing to help if you ask! Though there was a group project near the end of the course and one of my classmates in my group never helped so I recommend getting to know your classmates beforehand.
Professor Andranik was very straightforward with what he teaches and what he expects from the class. Quizzes are online, tests are simple, some of the questions are similar if not exact to the example problems he uses in lectures. He is kind and very willing to help you understand the material. Not sure why people hate on him so much.
If you are intimidated about jumping into math, take this Professor. He makes it so simple to learn algebra through efficient techniques. Extra credit is earned by attending CET review sessions where they are then applied to exams which can really save your grade. Overall, made my first semester back in college easy.
Mr. Hakobyan is an old fashioned teacher that doesn't teach well. Bc of his heavy accent it is hard to understand and expects everyone to just get the math.Tests were difficult and lectures were boring.60% off my class dropped and kids that stayed were already good at math.U have to also pay for $100 online HW device. Please don't take this class!!!
This professor was VERY difficult when it came to learning Stats for many reasons. His lectures went way to FAST & never explained in details what he was telling us about in each chapter, If it wasn't for my friend I would've FAILED 1000%, Over half of my class dropped b/c the Tests & I wish I was joking were INSANELY HARD. Truly Disappointing :(
He's a pretty humorous professor, likes joking around with students. Homework is easy to follow, exams have very specific instructions you'll need to pay attention to. VERY serious about that, he'll mark off points for not showing work/wording answers incorrectly. Otherwise a pretty fair grader, you'll pass as long as you put in the effort.
He is a respectful professor. I have scheduled many online appointments to clarify my doubts and passed with good grades. Stats can be considered a challenging subject because it combines mathematical concepts like algebra and probability with real-world data interpretation, often requiring a deep understanding. Takeaway stats is not an easy course
There were a few challenges that made the course difficult to follow. The professor has a noticeable accent, which sometimes made it hard to understand the lectures. His lectures were fast pace which made it harder to keep up. It would be helpful if the professor could slow down a bit and perhaps provide more examples or additional resources.
I was fooled by every good review. Rough semester, this class took the fun out of school for me. his lectures sucked, we had online homework and he would only do the first few problems in the lecture(as the #s went up so did difficulty) Trust and Believe the HONESTY I don't understand the good reviews on these type of professors!!
This was one of my first college math classes. He is very straight forward. Lots of lectures and they are kinda boring. The class isn't very hard and he allowed us to use note cards on tests. However, he is a tough grader on the tests. There are online homework assignments and they take a while. Overall, not bad but wouldn't take again.
Mr. Hakobyan was a truly great professor. He cares about his students and makes sure he can get his students the best grade. I took the M07 course over the summer and he was very understanding since it was very fast paced. He's passionate about teaching and you can tell he cares about his students. Honestly one of my favorite professors i've had.
Professor Hakobyan is a good professor, he teaches very fast and has a different learning style, most of what I learned in this class was self taught since he's very fast at moving and expects very fast mental math. Participation matters, exams are worth the majority of the grade.
