Awesome professor! You'll learn tons from her. Very down to earth. Explains hard concepts well.
super nice, super sweet, although a bit disorganized. not impossible to get an A, but the course involves a LOT of writing. above all a great person.
There was way to much writing. Very hard class. Would recommmend not taking her.
Online course-Andrea is a great teacher. She is very clear on what is expected and gives you all you need to know for exams. Keep up with the readings and you'll be fine. I got an A.
She is a really cool teacher. Took her online class. Pretty easy if you keep up.
awesome person, very down to earth. and shes a vegetarian!loved her class.
Andera is very nice and easy going. However, SHE HAS FORGOTTEN HOW IT IS TO BE A STUDENT, AND SHE ACTS IF YOU WERE ONLY TAKING HER BORING CLASS. SHE THINKS ALL OF HER STUDENTS ARE PHILOSOPHY MAJORS.Her take home final that took 2 weeks to finish.BEWARE!!!
Hard Hard Hard! She expects a lot of reading! Many essay tests that are VERY time consuming. She also expects posts on an online classroom in addition to all of the other course work! You will really learn though, and she is a very cool person.
damn! waaaayy to hard! like WAYYYY too hard! im taking time out of my take home test that ive been working on for 4 hours...to just tell u people DO NOT take her! shes hella cool...real nice...pretty funny...kinda cute...but man! sooo hard! dont do it!!!!
Don't take her unless you like lots of busywork. She makes you read articles she's written that do not really pertain to anything as they are biased. Midterm and finals are killers. about 13 questions each and responses are excpected to be a page long. I reccomend not taking her.
Great teacher who makes Socrates bearable. Considerate of student budget (uses cheap textbooks), funny, lectures are easy to follow, very approachable if you have problems or questions. Yes, lots of writing/reading, but any philosophy worth its salt is a lot of writing. I got an A.
andrea is...interesting. her classes are not for the faint of heart or mind: i got an "A" but that's only because i'm fabulous. i don't recommend her unless you are also fabulous.
I really think that she is a wonderful person and teacher. You really do learn a lot from her. Before I took her class, I looked at things negatively now I have a more positive outlook. It's true that she does give a lot of reading, but it's worth it to take her class.
Exclnt prof.,but,VERY demanding.U have many temples to visit, internet posts to write, several sm bks to rd, plus essay tests and a KILLER take home final. It took me 13hrs strght to cmplte-no joke-it was way intense.I only got an A because i rock and totally didnt slack.-you'll lrn a lot but wk hard.
Very intresting teacher. Her lecture style is kind of informal, and more like a discussion than a lecture. She does assign a lot of reading, but it really isn't that bad as long as you keep up. Essay tests are time consuming, but she grades them very easy, so getting an A is no problem.
Great teacher! very enthusiastic and interesting. However, she does have a huge workload, so be prepared! And although I did not pass the class, due to lack of time for reading, I learned so much from her. She's very understanding and really reaches out to her students.
I took Diem for Phil 5 Intro To Philosophy. She had to be one of the most wacky teachers far as grading I ever saw, one test I got a F, and the very next I got a A +. She is a nice lady, down to earth. But has a really wacky system of grading. Be prepared to read a lot, she requires A LOT of reading
She was awesome. She was so easy to talk to and she explained anything you needed to know. I loved her and would recommend her to anyone who wants to know more about philosophy.
WOW! She's hot, but most importantly, she is nice and fun. I learned a lot from the class, very helpful. There is a lot of reading, but if you read and participate, an "A" is no problem. It is a good class to take even if you are not philosophy major. P.S. I think she is single, too. mmm
This class is very interesting if you are curious about other religions. However, there is a lot a lot of reading. If you are taking any other classes, expect to not have enough time for them. I got a C in my math class because I kept reading her articles and books. I couldn't stop they were so cool! If you have a lot of time on your hands, takeher
this teacher is awesomeness! first off, her choice of literature was extremely helpful. she explained things clearly if you do not understand it. there are times that i was feeling left out because of not getting a concept clearly.... but she was there to straighten everything out! her explainations and analogies are precise. it was such a motivati
Her amazing looks are only surpassed by her wonderful personality.
She a VERY interesting teacher but yah, it's A LOT of reading and work. Don't take her class unless you're totally prepared to put in the time, but after it's over, you'll be glad you took it.
great teacher. very fun class. teacher is great looking and fun to talk to. i learned alot in her class. and she is very opened minded to new ideas. the homework was not hard at all. there were some instances where there was alot of reading, but thats abou

very good teacher, very helpful, she'll go out of her way to make sure you understand. a lot of reading.... one word of advice STAY ON TOP OF YOUR POSTS!!!!!!! don't slack off and you'll do good
She was a very helpful teacher. There was a lot of reading but by her helpfulness it went along smoothly. She is very encouraging and always gives words of encouragement. If you stay on top of your readings and post plus do everything she asked you will pass will a good grade. =)
Took 2 classes. Class consists of usually 1 post (18wk 1 hour reading, 1 writing), 2 posts (12 wk, 2 and 2) or 2-3 posts variable (summer, 2 and 4) a week. Outside texts (for phil 15, primary texts, ex: the Bible) and online texts required. Midterm/Final are post based questions for 75% of it. Easy A for any sort of (right/wrong) analysis w/ backup
I took the PHIL 15 (World Religions) online class in fall semester and I have say I learned a lot. It is a lot of work and hours of reading/ writing.. so be prepared for that!! But Andrea, is a great teacher and I could ask her anything she would always help out fast. She grades good if she sees that you read all the required material..be prepared!
I took the online winter course so it went by really fast! She has taught me SO much and I truly enjoyed my experience. A LOT of reading and posts, but if you do the work, you should enjoy yourself. Also, no need to buy a book! All the readings were done online! Take her! Easy easy!
I took World Religions during the winter session & it was very interesting but a lot of work during the short term. I suggest taking it because all the readings she requires are very interesting but be prepared because the class might take up a good amount of time. I got an A & I actually feel like I learned a lot of info that I can use in the wrld
Do not take this class if you value your time and sanity. TOO much reading, TOO much writing. Grades hard, midterm you write like 10 pages of stuff. Online class is terrible. Philosophy just doesn't work without student interaction and discussion.
GREAT TEACHER... FUN, PASSIONATE, NICE, ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP... SHE MAKES IT ALL ACCESSIBLE!!! THE ONLY THING: BE PREPARED TO DO A LOOOTTT OF READING. VERY INSIGHTFUL CLASS!!!!
LOVED her. greatly influences your way of thinking.. for the better. work is a little time consuming but WELL worth it. she is really fun, adorable, down to earth and insightful. she is also very good at helping you understand the material. great professor.
Overall, excellent professor. Prepare to read several books and be on top of in-class discussion. She helps with misunderstood material and promotes a lot of participation (including online class discussion on yahoo). I'd recommend this professor to any student eager to learn, not to anyone looking for an easy pass.
Prof. Diem is a great teacher but her PHIL 5 class requires a lot of work. If you value your personal time, avoid this class. If you're looking for an easy A, avoid this class. An A in this class is attainable but be prepared to do a lot of reading and essays. 4 exams, 3 are take home but it is like 8-12 pages essays each. She gives extra crdt too.
I took the online class. Don't take it. It's difficult without doing discussion. Too much material covered in 6 weeks. It was overwhelming. She's nice though. I would still have taken this class anyway but not online if I were given a choice.
Diem is definately not the easiest prof. took the 8 week online class, and its a TON of work.. if you have no life then take her, but if you have other classes and work full time, then avoid her. she definately makes you work for your grade. makes you read books she wrote. doesnt allow you to voice your own opinion on the topics taught.
WONDERFUL professor. Extremely bright and well versed in her field of expertise. I took her online course and though it was tough material, I found that I learned more in her 8 week course than in any other class I have taken in my college career. BRILLIANT!
Best teacher ever! She teaches really well; it's a very fun class, but it's tough if you're the lazy type. If you want to learn, then this is the BEST class for you. SHE IS TRULY AMAZING!!!
Great professor! Nice, fun and down to earth. I learned alot and would take her again! Do plan to read but if you do that you will do well.
Wonderful Professor. Smart, engaging, sweet.
Best professor ever! I definitely recommend her. There is a lot of reading, but if you do it, you should do well in her class. I really enjoyed the structure of her class and she's a great instructor. She really cares about her class and wants her students to succeed.
i took the 6 week online course for the winter session, and i have to say it was quite a bit of work. assignment will take about 3 hours. 1 Midterm( which is about 12 questions about a page for each question) same for the final. the first part of class was boring, after midterm it is great! Good teacher! You Will Work for Your Grade!
LOVE HER! but not it is alot of work. about 3-5 hours of readings/discussions per week. but extremely interesting. Prof. Diem is this ball of energy that just makes you want to learn philosophy. Recommended! but not if you have a heavy schedule already. like i said, it is a lot of work. But if you read you will be fine.go to discussions!they help!
Great class, but it lacked some type of organization. Tests were mostly take-home. She is a great teacher and I learned a lot about religions in her class.
She surfs! She is into her teaching and is friendly and open for questions. The tests is a bit hard, but you can manage to get a B or an A in the class.
Professor Diem is an extremely passionate teacher. She is well educated and balanced in her life. She brings that experience and knowledge to her students. Her work is tough and immense. You mostly read her work and thesis from college. Test is long so you have to stay on top. She's really nice and sweet and will always help you whenever needed.
SUPER great professor. Very kind and helpful. She cares a lot about her students. BUT, I am not exaggerating when I say that this religions class was the hardest class I have ever taken in my life. You will be reading so much that you start to develop cataracts. You will be typing essay after essay to the point where you may develop carpal tunnel.
She is great. She prints out all of the readings for us so no textbooks. She's fun, exciting, and grades fairly easily. The only thing is that there is a ton of reading and the essays are very long. Good class overall
Her online class requires more work than you think. You have to read pages and pages of her books on your laptop screen, which is damaging to the eyes. Her writing is decent, but she expects a lot when it comes to her essays. If this were not an online class, it would probably be easier to follow.
She's fantastic! You have to do a lot of reading (provided for free) and her exams are essays that you complete at home. She's enthusiastic about teaching and is extremely helpful. I don't see how anybody can not love her. Avoid taking her online only because then you would miss out on her wonderful lectures and class discussions.
very enthusiastic prof with new way of teaching.Materials r given 4 free(never read so much in my life be4)Tests are at home so high quality is expected(just show her that y have read the materials and y ll be fine)In class dicussion+online discussion every week but not hard. She likes anything that is cute, so remember to add fun photos 2 your site
I would not say her class is hard. Everything is online. I took this class during Winter so it was a lot of reading for each week. Midterm and Final are done at home and have multiple essays questions. Her idea of an essay is one page. I think I would have enjoyed the class more if I had taken it during a full semester. She answers questions fast.
Real cool teacher and really helpful. You will be required to read a lot of material to adequately answer all of the essay questions. I recommend taking her class; just don't be lazy and you'll be good.
GREAT PROFESSOR! Easily the most influential teacher I ever took at Mt. SAC. Her lectures were amazing and the class atmosphere is great. She really made me take a look at things I never had before. Also took her World Religions Honors class and it was amazing as well. Read the material, but it is absolutely worth it! Awesome. A must-take professor
I took her online world religions class and she assigns a LOT of DETAILED HOMEWORK. She explains everything very well and is really helpful in giving feedback as well, but the amount of work load is NOT worth it unless it's the only class your taking. For the midterm and final, she gives 10 essays and 2 summaries EACH and grades very tough.
I took an online course, it was A LOT of work, but the material itself is not difficult. She has great communication and I'd take another class with her!
Loved taking her class! It was one of the more challenging, yet interesting classes taken than semester. Professor D lectures in a fun manner, but there is a lot of work involved so don't slack off. She grades pretty easy if you include a lot of writing and make sure you know what you're talking about.
Professor Diem is a super sweet and funny lady. Although I was not interested in this class at all and took it because it was all I could get, it was very interesting. Her work load is HEAVY, lots of reading & video watching. Attending class isn't mandatory, but if you do attend without missing she gives you a bonus and helps explain the material
This teacher takes an interesting subject and turns it into something you will walk away with being totally uninterested in because of the amount of useless work she has you do. She makes you read all of her books she wrote, trying to get someone to read them, then asks you to do ridiculous assignments, like 10 essays for the midterm. DONT TAKE!
Absolutely the most brilliant professor I have had in my many years of school. Dr. Diem goes out of her way to help her students and she is a well known scholar in the field. LOVED HER!!!
This class is way more work than a 3 unit class is worth. All of the tests are open book, but the amount of work that goes into taking her tests is outrageous. I was putting in at least twice the amount of work compared to my other classes that are worth more units. Do not take this class if you are taking any other classes or trying to fulfill GEs
Don't take this class. It's way too much work. This professor turned a course that I was very interested in into something that I grew to hate because it occupied all of my free time just trying to keep up with the workload for the course. My GPA is lower this semester because of this course.
Just finished taking her online ethics class, she is by far one of my favorite professors. Everything is organized, there are no surprises. It’s a lot of work, but if you read all the material, and post weekly, you will pass!!
This class is a LOT of WORK. Seriously! If you have a busy schedule, do not take it. There are 3 exams, take home, but it's about 16 essays for each test. A ton of reading, watching videos, and writing. Each test takes about 18 hours or more to complete. It's not worth the 3 units of GE in my opinion, but if you love philosophy you might like it.
Although it's an interesting class, this professor gives a ridiculous amount of work. Even for an honors class, the work given is worth way more than the 3 units of GE. There are 3 take home exams which take HOURS to complete. It's not a hard class as long as you read, but it's way too time consuming.
Amazing Teacher, I learned alot from her class. Be prepared to work though. I work full time and took her class online and received a C. Her workload is very heavy but she is very helpful. If you want to learn, take her class, If you just want to get the GE credits and pass with a good grade, stay away.
I took her class online and it was a wonderful experience. There was a TON of reading but most of it was online or stuff she has written. There is also a lot of writing. Her final was about 10 or 11 essay (about a page or so each). I also took it in 8 weeks so that might be why it seemed like a lot. Field trip is required to a religious institution
She is very helpful, but there is a large workload!!!!!!!! You must buy the books and read them! She gave us the midterm from day one and 2 field trips were required.
Best online prof. I have EVER had! She is amazing and always available, she makes sure everything is crystal clear. TONS of work though. I spent 24+ hours on the midterm&final - about 20 pages typed, single spaced. If you do the work though, you will get the grade. NO TEXT BOOKS TO BUY! Insanely interesting and would love to take her again.
WOW WHAT CAN I SAY. BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. computer with all my essays crashed 2 days before the essays were due, she gives me an extension. very kind & considerate. hilarious jokes. helpful and will clarify anything. approachable and friendly. understanding. not to mention pretty. great class, great prof. if you want to learn legitly, take.
Such an easy class. There is a large amount of reading but class is very enjoyable. She is very funny and extremely helpful.
Dr. Diem and her husband are the best professors I have ever taken! She wins that dual by a hair because she is so helpful. Her workload is HEAVY but if one applies themself then one WILL come out OWNING what they have been taught. Prior to Phil 15 I had litte interest in religion, that has changed drastically. FYI, I second the chili pepper!
AMAZING!! took the online class. lots of reading. midterm and final questions each week. do most of the extra credit. will get an A if you put in the time.
I took her online class, and while it is a lot of work, she makes the lessons interesting. We didn't use a book. She provided all material. Take her if you wanna learn and put in the time to get an A. She's more than willing to help you achieve that grade.
I learned so much. Class is challenging & requires many written responses after reading & watching films. it is not impossible to get a good grade as long as you put in the work. Professor Diem is extremely helpful and answers any questions. She provides feedback to help students learn. Some extra credit work is available, so take advantage of it.
This prof. is really easy, but you have to be on top of yourself for getting things done. The midterm and final are given ahead of time, so def do it! Extra credit is given, not worth much thou. We had no book, it was her first time doing everything online. I would def. recommend her. She is lenient and gives extra time to turn things in.
Heavy reading and mandatory videos. No textbook needed. Extremely helpful instructor, quick to reply to emails. Midterm and Final are essays, given at the first day of the course. If you complete the work adequately, you will get an A. Note that the workload is comparatively heavy. The syllabus is very clear.
Passionate about the subject. Extremely helpful. Midterm and Final are essays, prompts given on the first day. Some out-of-class visits are required, but presumably fun. Attendance mandatory. Heavy reading and videos. Offers some extra credit. Professor is easily likable. She's responsive, and quick to address confusion.
Extremely helpful and understanding professor who is very passionate about her teaching. This class isn't difficult because of the content, but rather the amount of work. Lectures are very helpful. Tremendous amount of reading, but all very insightful. Working on your final and midterm as you go will make this class much easier.
Simply the best professor ever. Prof. Diem is dedicated, kind, and bends over backwards to help her students succeed. Yes, the course is rigorous but she goes out of her way to make sure students do their best. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.
Crazy amount of work. Like insanely crazy. Kind of quit trying the second half and was fully expecting to fail, maybe a D at best but I gotta B. Nice Teacher but way too much work. I enjoyed the class and learned alot but didn't get time to digest it and was super stressed by the end. I'd suggest cutting the work by a third to make class pleasant.
I have never had to do so much work. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like reading and watching a bunch of films all day for the exams, because really, that is the only way she grades you. I'm really not a fan of this class, too, because she often interrupts you and your ideas when she disagrees or feels you will be steering the class wrong.
Unquestionably the most gifted professor at Mt. San Antonio College. Her knowledge of the subject is vast and deep, and yet she is so open and friendly to everyone. Her ability to hold court in class and lead everyone into a productive discussion was superb. She is cute and very funny. Not what I expected. What a joy.
Excellent professor!! The material is presented in a way where if you do it, you can't "not" learn. Her questions are asked in a way that provokes you to look inside yourself and come forth with well-thought-out responses. The only difficulty is not the "material," but instead it is just "thorough" and "time consuming."
An excellent professor who keeps students engaged. Her personality promotes open thought, collaboration and questioning. She is very helpful. The work is heavy but not mentally difficult just time consuming. You will learn a lot in her class. Highly recommended
Professor Diem is very friendly to her students. She wants them to understand the material which requires reading and answering questions. If you do the work, you will earn the grade you want. I love how interactive she is with the class, especially considering it was an online class. I wish I could have took the class in person! She's simply great
Great Class to take very inspirational and thought provoking. Took it online. The class is pretty straight forward, read a few chaptersbooks, watch a few videos and then answer 4 questions. The question are not hard, but do require that you read the material and watched the videos. Heavy workload but duable. Very friendly teacher want you to pass.
The assignments in this class was crazy, but she really was helpful and encouraging students to pass. I thought i was not going to have to work hard for a good grade, got a B , but that did not come easy. Not like other average online classes I've taken before, so you better know what your getting into, especially if you take it during intersession
Great professor! I took her for and online course (Phil 12) and a hybrid honors course (Phil 15H). Her lectures are fun. She is extremely caring and truly wants the class to do well. Keep up with the work and you will do well. No tests, just essays! Again, do NOT put the work off until last minute. I highly recommend her; she's one of the best! :)
I just took her summer online class for PHIL12 and enjoyed it a lot. The ethics subjects were intriguing and overall class format was very beneficial for the online format. Highly recommended.
Took her for World Religions over the summer. Great professor and very knowledgeable. It was an online class but she made it feel like a classroom. Lots and lots of reading but you learn a lot. Would definitely take her again!!
Amazing! She goes over and beyond to help her students and is very passionate about the material. The articles and videos she has you read/watch can be life changing and I think all students would benefit from her class. She is great at getting back to students and is extremely motivating in her comments on student work. Love her!
I have taken Professor Diem for Phil 15 and now took her Online Phil 12 class. She's one of my favorite professors at Mt. SAC. Definitely a lot of work but it's all worth it. It'll change you as a person and allows you to grow. She's awesome and notices which students work hard to earn a good grade and well help you earn that A if your wiling to.
Professor Diem is amazing. I took the class online so it was a lot of alone work but you still got to interact with classmates through PIES. She honestly really helps you and is very understanding. She replies to emails within 24 hours. THERE IS NO TEXTBOOK REQUIRED! You read a lot of articles and published works (FREE).
I have never met a more easy going, caring, and chill professor. Her class is easy if you read the material and just pay attention. She is very helpful! would 1000% recommend this class to everyone.
THE MOST PHENOMENAL PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER TAKEN! A lifechanging course, she is authentic, hilarious and genuinely cares about her students. Offers a LOT of extra credit, the class is extremely fun, you will learn SO MUCH. Online work through moodle and the essay exams are long but she is a generous grader and will help any student who asks.
Diem is an outstanding human being and an inspirational professor. She is brilliant and has a clear structure for her class, offers plenty of extra credit, her lectures are engaging and often feels like the class is too short, you will learn so much and grow as an individual. Does require work, but a rewarding experience & not difficult to get an A
Professor Diem is honestly the kindest professor you will ever meet. She is very knowledgeable about her focus "World Religions". I learned so much from this class and to a much deeper level than with any other class. She may assign what seems like a lot at first but when you see how much she wants everyone to excel you learn to take it easy.
This was the best online class i've taken thus far! Professor Diem is super helpful, makes all the material you will need in this class available on the site (lectures, books, notes, study guides) You can tell she is very passionate about her work, I learned so much about World Religion because of her. Love all the knowledge that i gained from her
SHE IS THE BEST PHILOSOPHY PROFESSOR AT MT SAC EVER. I WOULD EVEN MAJOR PHILSOPHY BECAUSE OF HER CLASS. YOU GET REALLY GET A AS LONG AS YOU STUDY HARD EVEN IF HER CLASS IS NOT EASY.
The workload for her class is designed to prepare you for the UC level. I tend to read everything assigned, so it was a lot of work, but worth it! She will never make you feel you are not good enough. She believes in you & her passion for philosophy will make you switch majors. I liked philosophy, but now I love it. She is very sweet and kind.
Loved this class! Professor Diem is extremely interactive with the class and makes sure all students are involved with one another's discussions. Her lectures are very interesting and she offers all of the material for free. She also notices when a student is really trying and gives credit where it's due. Highly recommend this teacher!
She is super kind and replies asap. This class is no joke, I took 5 classes this spring & her class was the most heavy, I would recommend her but be aware of the workload. Google doesn't help for tests TAKE A LOT OF NOTES! Also research project to go to a middle eastern temple and write about it. You will get an A if you do the work & extra credit!
SUCH A WONDERFUL HUMAN! I have never known a more caring or brilliant instructor. Her classes are not difficult, they are simply work intensive. By the end of it, you will feel the reward of learning so much; the lessons will shape and reconstruct your life. Very doable to get an A, and I highly recommend enjoying the experience of learning fromher
Amazing, one-of-kind professor! Don't even think about it. Take her class! Just complete discussion questions, readings, films, and exams. She allows you to work ahead. Reasonable work load. Her class is life changing-- will change your perspective on life in some way. Her passion for her students and the curriculum is inspiring. Readings provided.
I have taken philosophy 5 Honors with her and again this summer I took World Religion with her again online. she is such a incredible human in my life. she can be one of the best professor I have ever met in my life. I really wish all professors can be like her so that there will be fewer professors on campus.
one of the nicest prof ever. super kind and interesting. lectures were great. can have lots of written assignments so keep on top of your game. overall great
Very amazing and inspiring teacher. Clear grading criteria and good availability. Highly recommend.
Take her! Advice - it's best to stay on target with weekly essays and posting. She wants students to succeed but you have to communicate with her. Her lesson plans are well aid out. She's very organized.
Workload is not bad. Lots of readings but fun films, including Ted Talks, to watch. You do essay posts (2 essay/ week) & 50 choice quiz every week. Prof replies quickly to emails. Best to get ahead of your work. NO NEED TO BUY TEXTBOOKK! I definitely would take again.
I have taken three classes with her in the past. Generally, she is a super nice professor in my personal view, However, be prepared to do a lot of readings and writings because you would need them all for objective tests and essay questions. I think I would easily get A as long as she takes off her objective tests.
Sweetest Prof ever. Very knowledgeable about the world's religions and knows her science as well. Very kind and very understanding. THE BEST!!!
Awesome and smart prof, quizzes 50 q for 50 min, you need to do the readings/films. Inspirational topics, controversial too. no book requires, she just assigns links to articles and films, but they take a long time to read/watch. Discussions 2 essay posts / pie posts a week, time consuming so stay on top of your work. fun but challenging class
She's alright. The first half of the class is fun and interesting. Second half is a drag. Essays and discussion every week with a take-home test every two or three weeks. Two mandatory field trips for honors. Not much in-class discussion--just show up and listen to the lecture for an hour. Easy honors class with moderate workload.
Such a considerate and caring Professor. Very diligent and really cares about teaching. Knows her stuff. Would definitely take again.
Interesting class, Professor Diem wants you to succeed and is very caring. Films are reading are interesting, educational and necessary, play close attention to details since they will be in the exams. As long as you do the reading you will do fine. Pay attention Canvas as the class is done completely online. Be involved in the conversations.
Absolutely loved this class. Her lectures are very clear, concise, and leave a lasting impression. If you're taking this class online she makes everyone participate enough to where you feel like you are just as engaged as when you're in a classroom. Highly Recommend!
Prof. Diem is very caring/helpful. There is A LOT of reading and videos to watch, it's way too much especially if you're full time. The tests require major critical thinking and ONLY if you have completed every video and ALL of your reading you' ll do fine. ALL books online. There are online discussions/ CHALLENGING.
Delightful Professor who is totally there for her students. Not a hard class if you are willing to follow the very clear instructions. Probably the best Professor I have ever had in my career. Dr. Diem provides all of the readings for free and responds to email extremely quickly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
I took her for both a religions and an ethics class online and I honestly had a really great time. The gives you all the notes and videos you need to understand the material, and she makes sure to thoroughly explore all kinds of issues really well. Sometimes the reading did get a bit much, but it's honestly manageable because she makes it fun.
Uses articles/videos instead of textbook. Makes you really work for your grade. Would not recommend if you're a part time student bc reading/films take up a lot of time. Try to get ahead when you can because the last couple of weeks ends really fast. Lots of opportunities to get extra credit.
Professor gives free material for readings. No cost class. She is involved in discussions and offers feedback. Class not hard if you follow the weekly work. extra credit helped give me the A. Yes, take!
Professor is caring and really tries to help students succeed. She offered extra credit and study guides. Class was not difficult if you stay on schedule. Learned a lot. I recommend her.
I took Professor's Diem accelerated class during the Spring time at the same time as her other online class (PHIL 15) and it was not easy, but it so was worth it! She is caring, understanding, flexible, will allow you to retake one test. I was a full time student and she helped me out a lot. It was also my first time taking an online class(es).

Nice professor, but a lot of work. Really recommend.
Take her. She cares and will help you if you need help. Class not too hard. Free online readings. life changing class
Professor Diem was truly enjoyable. There's a lot of reading, but it's an online class, what do you expect? Very easy to get an A. All reading is through her website and even her own books! She is very knowledgeable and is very active in the discussions forum. I wish more teachers were like her!
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! She acts like we only have her class and gives us a TONNNN of work. Definitely not worth the 3 credits of taking her. If you want an easy A, psh good luck.
I have taken lots of online courses and Prof. Diem's is by far the most professional in presentation. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that all the readings were free and I didn't have to spend money. Education is expensive and it is nice to know that someone cares about our finances. Impressive presentation!
The most engaging and sweetest professor I have ever taken.
Her insightful, multi-perspective knowledge on religion and extensive research about religion inspires me to question conventional ideas and explore in depth of religious concepts. Diem is not only respected in the PHIL department, but she has always been heartwarming and caring for students' health and opinion. Take her class if you can! Worth it.
Professor Diem is one of the best professors that I have. She is such a sweet and caring person. Her class has honestly been transformative to my life as she has opened many new perspectives, especially through meditation. I would definitely recommend her class as I learned a lot and was able to culture myself on world religions.
I took this class online and honestly its hard to have a professor be engaged with the students in an online atmosphere but professor Diem goes above and beyond to make sure you know she is invested in your success. Shes comments on practically all of our online posts to say encouraging things. She is so sweet and its a super easy fun class
If you have ANY interest in learning about the different World Religions, Dr. Diem-Lane is the ideal choice. Although she doesn't make use of powerpoints, a much smaller honors class allows for a much more intimate discussion. Her lectures are Amazing! All essays are submitted on canvas, and she offers extra credit in the form of "pie posts."
She is the best professor I have ever taken. The lectures are clear. The test is multiple choice and easy. Just follow the study guide. If you put some time to work on, I guarantee you will pass this course. If you have some problems, just email her. She will give you the opportunity to keep things going.
Dr. Diem-Lane really made the spring semester a lot easier. Having to transition online was rough for me, but her class is outlined so well and her canvas page is very easy to navigate. All the reading is in PDf format for free through canvas and she provides video lectures and films to watch. I loved this class, please take her!
Professor Diem is a very kind person who sincerely wants students to succeed. The class may be a lot of work but it really is the participation that matters. She offers study guides prior to each test but do be wary of a few curveballs that are not on the study guides. Overall, I still recommend.
Took Dr. Diem's class in spring and got an A. She is caring and works with you. She even recommended me to the honors program (if you read this professor thank you!). Class not too hard and it is fun. Study guides offered and tests are open note. Cool films. loved class! Take!
The load: 2 lesson plans per week, this means about 3 different readings within each lesson plan, readings range from chapters to articles depending on what she decides, 2 weekly essay posts, 2 weekly participation posts(sometimes additional readings to complete these posts), 3 videos per lesson plan ranging from 2-45 minutes each, & 1 weekly test
I got an A+. She helped me get there. Class structure was very clear and extra credit offered. I am so happy to have taken this class. Recorded zoom lectures helped too. Made me understand the material. Take if can.
Professor Diem was one of the best professors I've taken at MT Sac. She's so passionate about world religions and really cares for her students. There's no textbook required. She provides online articles, a recorded zoom lecture, and films for each lesson plan. I definitely recommend taking her class!
Class modules were very organized and consistent which made the online course easier to manage. This was a religion class but she made it very clear how to speak and share thoughts generally without targeting people or religions. She interacts and responds with our posts so expectations were clear.
She's a good professor and is really clear about what she expects from you. I did notice that she favors some students over others though which was a bit off-putting. Nonetheless, she is a good professor and the topics we learn about are interesting. Do beware though: this is a really rigorous course - you WILL get lots of reading.
Amazing that I got an A!!!! Super nice lady and well organized.
Super cool class!
This class is a lot of work. TONS of reading, and lots of little videos. And you have to watch them in order to do well on her weekly quizzes. Studying for quizzes is key! She says that theres no tricky questions and that its easy but her quizzes ask very specific questions. Do your work, put in the effort and you will get the grade you deserve.
She says her quizzes arent hard but they are. You HAVE to study!! Tons of reading and watching Ted talks. She doesnt teach, she just reads some notes for her lectures. The class isnt even an ethics course, not at all what I thought I signed up for. Tons of work
Professor Andrea Diem is the best teacher I have ever had at Mt Sac. She is super caring, gives great and detailed feedback, and goes out of her way to help. I am a slow learner so I was glad that she made videos available where she goes over the class content. By far the best online class I ever took.
Like the other review said, the quizzes are hard af. She is a nice person indeed but its challenging especially when it is timed in 1 hour. Please reconsider if you aren't strong in philosophy.
Amazing prof. who really cares about teaching. I thought it might be hard at first but it turned out much easier than I anticipated. I like that the class is so content rich. I have had classes that are super easy but I learned nothing. I learned so much from this course that I have decided to become a philosophy major.
A really great class would definitely recommend it. I would've gotten an A but I missed a couple of assignments but it was a fun interesting easy class with an amazing professor!
Great honors online class with caring teacher. Learned so much. Life changing
This was a great class to take online. Work is due each week but you have all week to get it in. I loved the flexibility. There was a meditation project and lots of interesting films. I recommend
I took her religious philosophy class online and I loved how passionate she was about the material. She is super understanding and wants her students to succeed. There is a lot of reading, but the quizzes are fairly easy if you take good notes during the lectures.
Amazing person & inspirational. Late start (8 wk) online async class. 2 projects, weekly lessons (2 lessons/week most weeks), relies on discussion boards. Quizzes are long but easy as long as you read & watch the films. Very eye-opening class. I'd heavily recommend this class. Goes in depth with her lectures, texts, & films provided. Love her!
Don't listen to the low ratings. Those are people who are lazy to study & don't put in the time to do the work. Yes, this class was A LOT of work & could take up your time, but she offers plenty of extra credit and "wiggle room." I don't understand how anyone can fail this. If you put your mind to it & actually do the work, it'll be an easy A+!
it is a lot of work, but if you do it it should be easy to do quizzes no exams, two projects
Take her, she is the most passionate professor and really cares about her students. She records lectures for her online courses and explains everything in a way that is easy to understand. Gives lots of opportunities to earn extra credit and is clear in her instructions. Do the work, you'll get an A. Excellent professor!
I've taken many online classes and she was the first and only to consistently offer feedback.
Professor Diem was an amazing professor. An expert in world religions and her lectures gave clear explanations. Sometimes provided feedback via voice recordings. Cares about her students and wants to see everyone succeed. I am glad that I took this class. I learned a lot and challenged me to learn with an open mind.
SHE IS SUPER SWEET! Her lectures are very informative and classwork is manageable. She gives good feedback on assignments. Please do your study guides for the quizzes they are super important.
Prof Diem really cares about her students and the material, and wants them to care about it too. She is almost always available and gives you reports on how you are doing on Canvas every couple of weeks, which I really appreciated. Couldn't have asked for a better prof for world religions!
Professor Diem is one of the best, if not the best professor on campus. Her material and knowledge of world religions are amazing and she's a super nice person that truly cares about her students. The course is laid out in an easy-to-follow manner and she also gives voice-recorded feedback which shows she really cares. It's a very enjoyable course.
Prof. Diem was an amazingly knowledgeable Professor who gave great feedback and responded quickly to questions. If you're interested in Phil. you will love her course as she will provide you with the ability to think about ethical issues through multiple philosophies the course material is lengthy but well worth the knowledge you will learn. Enjoy!
Prof Diem is VERY responsive. There is A LOT of reading and writing, and you get a 60-question quizz almost every week. In addition, there are two writing projects. This is a good Honors class for those who seek challenges. As long as you go over all the material, an A is certainly doable. However, if you just want easy credit, don't take her.
Just completed this ethics class. Professor was so responsive ; it felt like a regular class and not an online class since a lot of great interaction with classmates and professor. Kind and caring teaacher who let me hand in something late. I learned so much and will take another class with her!
Prof. Diem is probably one of the best professors on campus. I had her for PHILO 12H which is ethics and PHILO 15H which is world religions. Her quizzes are straightforward, she provides all materials including films and readings, 1-2 posts per week depending on week, 1 or no quiz depending on week, and one project that is fun to do.
I took her ethics class for the 8 week accelerated term and she's a gem! There was so much to read, but the workload was doable. Weekly discussions, and sometimes quizzes that were straightforward if you reviewed the content. Research project near the end of the term. Great class and I learned a lot from professor Diem!!
Professor Diem was awesome! She responds to emails quickly and gives you a 2% boost at the end of the grading period. One quiz is dropped from your grade. You actually learn interesting topics in this class. However, I wouldn't recommend this class if you aren't able to study and read topics every week, they are quite lengthy.
I really enjoyed Prof. Diem's world religions course. It was easy for me to maintain an A the whole term. She offers extra credit each week if a student needs some help. I appreciate who quickly she responded to any question I had. Not too hard of a class but you will need to watch videos and read. Fun topics and I learned a lot.
She is the most amazing professor I have had! She really does care about her students. I did have to work hard for my A but I learned alot and I really enjoyed the options she gave us when picking the assignments we wanted to do.
Not a hard class if you know what to do. She has a class that is easy to follow. I would have loved to take her on campus since she seems nice and caring but online is better for me. I learned so much and this class was needed for my nursing major. For sure take it no matter what major! Fun, organized, life changing.
Best professor I've ever had. She was very caring and was always easy to reach. This was my first honors class, so it was difficult for me, but she always assisted me & made it so much easier. 8-Week course - Discussion, exam, readings, and videos weekly. 1 final project on a self trip to a temple. Highly recommend!
Prof. Diem was very sweet and understanding. I took her online during the start of the pandemic, but her canvas was very easy to navigate. She rounded up my grade and was always fast with her responses when I had any questions. She offered feedback and her lectures were very interesting. Discussion and test due every module with one essay final.
This professor really cares about her students. She would send out thoughtful messages and gentle reminders. She was always available to help. Prof Diem curved my final score and offered curves to quizzes. Very happy I took this class with her!
Professor Diem is one of the most respectful and caring professors I know. I took the 6-week summer course. With 12 lessons, each had 2-4 readings with 3-5 short youtube videos to watch. There were two lessons each week, with one test and one discussion post. It may seem like a lot of work, but it is 100% doable. I was able to finish 1 week early.
Professor Andrea Diem was a wonderful teacher! I plan on taking another of her classes in the future; she grades kindly and offers lots of extra credit, includes some interesting material in her lessons, and encourages discussion between students. I recommend her greatly!
Professor Diem is a shining light on campus. She is a very informed and informative woman who will teach you plenty about life. Her class is discussion-centered, both for assignments and in-person, and her quizzes are precise and open note. You lose nothing and gain so much by taking her class and showing an interest in the subject matter.
this prof is awesome ! I took the 8 week course, and I loved learning the material. her canvas was very organized, clear, and easy to understand. I didn't need to email her for any reason but she made it clear that she was available to reach. the tests are easy as long as you actually take notes and complete the lectures
I just finished taking introduction to ethics for honors philosophy with Dr. Andrea Diem. She was absolutely phenomenal and I enjoyed every moment of the class. This was my very first honors class and I'm very grateful that I was able to take it with her. I would highly recommend for anybody to take her if you can.
Imagine all of the positive attributes you could have in an educator... Now imagine you are actually learning something... That is how Professor Diem runs her courses. I cannot rant or rave enough to convey to you that Professor Diem is one of the best professors in the field today, but somehow it is an objective fact that she is.
She's very passionate about world religion and her lectures were pretty interesting. Had a paper where we had to visit a place of worship and write about our experience there. A lot of writing but she offered extra credit and graded very generously.
Take Professor Diem for your humanities GE courses. She is phenomenal and you will not regret your choice.
I took this class in 8 weeks and it wasn't too challenging. Prof. Diem is very caring and you are allowed to email her for assignment extensions. There are quizzes and discussion boards due every Sunday, and she gives you amazing feedback on each assignment.
You will have to read a lot and write a lot in this class if you want a good grade. You will have to take notes and read over subject material multiple times. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. She will happily work with you and help you succeed. I learned a lot in this class. You get what you put it.
Andrea is an amazing professor. She was easy to communicate with and was one of the most caring professors I've had the pleasure of studying under. Take any course she has available, you will NOT regret it.
Took her for the summer session. Loved the organization of the class..so easy to follow. Interesting topics and fun assignments. She truly cares about her students and offers extra credit every week to help us out. I earned a 99 percent! Will take her again!
A great humanities class to take as I transfer to UC. Really organized and the prof was caring. Extra credit offered and some cool safety nets to help us. She sets up class as "Units" and with each unit is quiz and discussion. Enjoyable. Would take prof again!
I recommend taking this professor for a Philosophy class. She gives so many chances to improve your grade. Project was fun AI project. Reading and films assigned every week but that is to expected for online class. I am a better person from the taking this class.
Diem is one of the best professors I have ever had. She definitely is the one who got me into what she teaches which is philosophy. She is very passionate about what she does and her lectures are straight forward. If you pay attention in the class, the class is super easy to follow through. Everything would also be on canvas too.
One of the sweetest women I have ever met. I am shocked she doesn't have 5/5 rating. Touchy subject to teach but hands down favorite class. Assignments are easy to complete. Student expectations are clear and easy to follow. The big project of the class was nothing but fun to do. Not overwhelming at all. She is great, take her class!
By far & away the most compassionate, competent, and overall most incredible professor I've ever had. I've taken 2 of her courses - she is just that good. She strives actively for every student's success, communicating effectively & offering extra credit. She is everything you could want in a professor. Do the readings and participate!
I love professor Diem, I learned a lot in this class, she knows how to teach and she is very knowledgeable. Her classwork is a good workload, quizzes are 40+ questions very straight forward. She gives amazing feedback. It's always good to take notes in her class. Overall, she is caring and makes sure her students are always doing well! Take her!
Took her 8 week online ethics class, it was a super easy GE course. If you do your weekly assignments on time and use chatgbt on the quizzes you will get an A. If you don't she also offers extra credit every week, very good feedback on assignments and just seems like she cares. Great professor, would recommend
SUPER interesting lectures, deeply profound class discussions, and very reasonable readings/quizzes. There's lots of extra credit/room to catch up, and she's always happy to answer questions It's rare to come across a professor as incredible and life-changing as professor diem, I never wanted to miss a class-- take her if you can! :)
Chill 8 week Honors class. One discussion post and one quiz due per week, and a midterm project. Just follow her guidelines for the unit post, chatgpt quizzes, submit everything on time and you should get an A. Pretty chill grader and answers messages quickly if you have. Do not wait last minute to do the work and the class will be easy.
Dr.Diem, you are the best! 🙏🏽 Namaste! -Gives a lot of reading -Needs to be in style of teacher (the post) -The reading though is very interesting and intellectual, you will learn a lot! -KEEP AN OPEN MIND, give her a chance and finish the course! -attendance is a Must! -Gives extra credit -Very willing to work with you if you fall back.
took her async class, very doable work (even tho I waited until 10:00pm to start when the unit was due 11:59pm that sunday most of the time...), the reading's you're given are genuinely interesting sometimes, sometimes a bit tedious to understand, overall very wonderful class. Diem was also very kind on the few occasions I reached out to her!!
Very reasonably paced and very manageable workload. The content I learned in this course genuinely intrigued me and followed me for other writing classes in the future. It is a bit writing/reading/content heavy and can get tedious, but an easy A if you're okay with long-answer responses!
Amazing professor, take her for an easy A. Gives audio feedback, super kind and encouraging, and lectures are interesting. Really only worked on Sundays and ended with an A. No final, just a project about a field trip to a temple. class consists of discussion post (500 words), quizzes, and 'town hall' questions. big on AI, don't get flagged!
Easy grader, but lots of writing. Provides very interesting philosophy information. Very nice, and would take again. However, she is very strict on using AI to help write papers and discussions.
Makes all of the material clear, no paid textbooks out of class, responsive, diligent, and the grading-criteria is clear. It's not conceptually too hard, just dense for a 8 week class, but the professor makes the lessons really informative, and the grading was quite easy as well. I would highly recommend Diem, great professor.
