Online class was so easy to get through, Professor Pantoja-Garvey is such a nice person. I have spoken to her in person and through her online course and she is aways so helpful and sweet. This class is a breeze to get through as long as you stay up to date with assignments (which are not difficult at all). Highly recommend!

Dr. P Garvey is great! She's clearly an experianced teacher who knows what she's doing, and does it in an entertaining way. Her accent is a little much at first, but it only takes a few days for your ears to adjust.

She provided slideshows that contain most of the test materials. Sends out emails a few times a week to reminding you of assignments. Good class, good instructor.

Very straightforward course. Exams are timed and heavily weighted, so you must do the reading and study. There is required group work, which is awful due to the online format, but otherwise it's a light and fun class. Dr. Garvey is always responsive and seems AWESOME. I wish I could have met her in person.

I took Dr. Garvey's online class. She gives slides, outlines and exam study guides. 3 group projects and you have to evaluate other people's work for points. Tests aren't bad if you read the book, twice. You really have to go way beyond what she asks on assignments to get recognized. Lots of extra credit. Great communication!

I have absolutely no interest in PSYC (just took it for my AA last minute) and I was really surprised at how much I learned in such a short time (it was 8 week summer course). She was helpful, approachable, and very quick to respond. The online class was easy to navigate, and very well put together. She's incredibly organized!

Child Development - A. Garvey's class was a pleasure to take. As long as you take good notes, do the reading and pay attention in class, you will do well :) She grades very fairly and is very approachable, very understanding. She doesn't expect you to already know everything, which is nice. Fun assignments, only 3-4 tests entire semester.

One of the best professors I've ever had and extremely involved. Commented very frequently our discussions, was very personable, even shared her blog with us which me feel like I knew her a lot more than I normally do in an online setting. Study hard and do your work and you'll be fine!

The comment before me is wrong. She's informative,is nice & entertaining. She isn't rude, just doesn't have tolerance for those who are late/talk/text. But I don't blame her, it's college and people are expected to act with respect. Those who don't she doesn't tolerate; which I appreciate because some of us actually go to college to learn!

Took Prof Garvey for an online summer course. A LOT of reading and a test every week. She is an awesome, helpful teacher. As long as your willing to do work, you'll get the good grade in the class. I would recommend Garvey to anyone!

Her tests are what I expected them to be;challenging but easy to get a good grade if you study. Con:her tests are primarily based of her lecture notes, I rarely got the impression she took any thing directly from the textbook.She is a rigid grader on the paper but I still got a decent grade and can see where there was room for improvement.

I wouldn't say she's the best teacher. She's ok. Her tests are not really from the book, mostly from her and could be confusing. But she's not really nice with the grading. I had 79.6% overall in the class and asked her to round off so I could get a B in the class, but she denied that. All of my other teachers would round off. Overall she's ok.

Put in the time and effort and you will get an A. Tests are hard and not in chapter order, mostly slide material. She can be vague sometimes in regards to instruction to an assignment. Online grouping the one thing I did not like. Went in not liking her and came out having a deep appreciation for the material. She knows her stuff.

Nice professor, class is usually interesting. She has 5 exams,including the final, which is cumulative, and a group paper. The group paper is a pain if your partner(s) is a dud! The text book is essentially useless, most of the exam questions come from her slides. Exams are a little difficult, class average on them is ~70%.

Dr Garvey is lovely. Her test are a little hard, but i really enjoy going to her class. She has a nice accent and really loves her job, which is good! She is very relatable. Love her class!

who ever said it was difficult to do a paper for her online class, THERE IS CALLING, TEXTING, EMAILING, FACEBOOK. BEST TEACHER! her exams were a little difficult, there is a cum. final so that was a little hard but her ppt notes are helpful, take notes of your own. i took her online and in person it was easy to navigate her online class, shes fun!

I have to disagree prof. Garvey is very interactive with her students for being an online course. She helps in any way she can. Group paper is APA so make sure you know APA. Other than that you can pass your exams by the online slides with little use of the textbook. Pretty easy to me.

Professor Garvey is extremely helpful, she offers extra credit. If you are confused or concerned shoot her an email and she gets RIGHT back to you. She is very encouraging. She cares about her students. Online: you must login to your moodle acct. You must comment in the cyber cafe this counts for attendance. Overall excellent professor! LOVE HER!

I really like Prof Garvey. She is very sweet and takes the time to get to know her students. All her classes are lectures with powerpoint slides, but she ties it all in and engages the class. She really seems to enjoy teaching. She always smiles. The tests are somewhat difficult, and I would rather have had a solo paper. You will learn a lot.

She seems very tough but she is not. as long as you show her your work, you will get a good grade.

Dr. Garvey is a wonderful professor. She is tough on attendance, and when isn't super clear on the group paper. Ask questions, read the text and you will do well. You can pass without reading the book, but it's definitely helpful. Pay attention to lectures. The tests are all online and hard to get an A if you don't read the material.

The professor is very helpful and responds quickly. The study guides she put out were very helpful for the open book tests. I do not recommend taking it as a 6 week online course, it's just too much information. I would have loved to have it full semester :)

Dr. Garvey is a great professor and cares about her students! The class consists of 4 exams and 2 papers. The papers are not bad unless you don't get a good partner! The exams aren't too bad. Just study the slides and read the text! Overall it was a good class and great professor!

Great Professor, she is very student oriented and gives alot of options for help. I took the class online and it was fairly easy, there were chapter tests, a final, and a group paper each option due at a different time. You may end up doing it by yourself, if your the rest of your group is inept. There is extra credit available, must read text.

She has a very mom-like personality (always wants to help), and she truly wants to see all of her students succeed!

Personally I really enjoyed Dr. Garvey's class. I never met her in person- I took her course online. Not a ton of work- just weekly reading and lectures. You have to write a grand total of three google docs contributions, which aren't even full on essays. And there are 3 exams plus the final. Put your work in and you'll do fine.

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. I absolutely loved taking her class. She's super energetic and really tries to connect with her students. She is more than willing to answer every question you have. Exams are on D2L open note. Only other assignments are easy points. I barely touched the book and got a high B. One of the best prof's ive ever had. NO COMPLAINTS

I really liked Dr. Garvey's class. Her online course is thorough but not a ton of work. Weekly readings, articles, lectures, one Google Doc contribution based on last name, three exams and a final cumulative exam. Plenty of extra credit opportunities for a total of 10 points. Log in weekly, do the requested work, and you'll do fine.

Best professor I took so far! She lets things go by easy, very understanding and barely gives out homework. One thing you have to get a good grade on her exams which are SO easy and straightforward as well as her google docs contribution. But other than that barely any homework. Oh plus she gives out a lot of extra credit!

She was the sweetest teacher. She would bring in cookies, coffee and fruits. One student in the class had a dairy allergy so she made sure to bring soy milk for her. She had a guest speaker come in for one of the lectures which made the class interesting. Overall, she is so sweet, caring and a great teacher. I would definitely take her class again.

WONDERFUL LADY! She used to teach psych 373 at Chico and I had her for that same class here at ARC and thought it was just to coolest class ever! She is so sweet, funny, and crazy smart! Tests are all online and open notes. Lectures are high energy and conversational. 10/10 would recommend. Would definitely take another class with her.

Ive taken Dr. Garvey in class and online. My experience with her is positive and delightful. She truly knows her subject, will elaborate on concepts so students understand, provides extra credit, doesnt give out much homework, however reading is essential. Her personality is hilarious, considerate, and kind. She aims for her students to succeed!

SO sweet and caring. Garvey helped me learn so much about children's minds and how they grow. She happily gave me advice when I came to her with questions about kids at my daycare, and is really knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Absolutely hilarious too. Make sure you pee before class though- if you leave she won't let you back in..

Its a solid online class with only a very few homework assignments. It is graded on a solid discussion and exams. Homework is due each week. I would take it again.

Extremely easy class with extra credit opportunities. How it was set up kept me interested throughout the class. I really enjoyed taking the human development 6 weeks online class. If you do your weekly online textbook work you will pass your 4 exams with A's! Caring teacher as well.

Easy class! Although this was an online course professor Garvey is very interacting. She sends a reminder email every week of what needs to be completed, extra credit opportunities, great feedback. I'd definitely retake her class.

Professor Garvey was a great teacher. There was only 1 writing assignment and the rest is Revel reading and quizzes. I took many notes which helped in the long run and I got an A. I never looked at the slide shows, efficient notes of your own will suffice. She was super caring and I would definitely recommend her!

Dr. Garvey has a beautiful heart. She is a child expert. If you are looking into working with children or want to learn more about Child Psychology, she is the one. There is no better way of learning about a childs mind than through her. I highly recommend Doutora Garvey! Be prepared to read and do your part as children are to be taken seriously.

Andrea is one of the best professors I have ever had! She is engaging, passionate, and really knows what she is talking about. She can answer any question in depth. She is happy to meet during her office hours and help. She isn't going to be teaching this class anymore but will be teaching Lifespan still, I recommend taking anything she teaches.

Professor Garvey was an amazing professor! She is so caring for her students and really passionate about human development. There are Revel quizzes due every week, 3 online exams, and one final. The only downside for me was purchasing her Revel code to access the material and it was $100, but it does prepare you for her exams! Highly recommend! :)

I really enjoyed taking Dr. Garvey's class. The class was a little more difficult after transitioning online, as I really enjoyed her lectures and the class discussions. Keep up with the readings and group discussions. She really cares that her students succeed, and if you put in the effort and communicate if you are struggling, you will do fine.

Each week we read one chapter and took a quiz. 5 exams total, including a cumulative final. All multiple choice. No papers. 1 discussion board where you have to post and reply to others.

PSYC 370 with Professor Garvey has been my favorite college class, by far. She cares so much about every student and she's always on top of everything. 100/10 recommend

There is 1 DB you participate in based on your last name (50 pts), 3 exams (100 pts each), and a cumulative final exam (150 pts). Seriously, it's an amazing class w/ a great prof. Highly recommend!

Dr. Pantoja Garvey is a gem, passionate about your success, and tries her best to make her class as accessible. She recorded herself reading the book so more students can listen to the readings and finish assignments, like WOW. If you read/listen to the book, create a study guide, and ask questions during her office hours, you'll be fine!

There is a lot of weekly material in this class, about 100 pages of reading and an hour of videos. Prof. Garvey made an audio recording of the entire book for the class. She is the best. Available in office hours and offers a ton of extra credit. Sends reminders for everything. She is nice, but the subject is challenging. Don't get behind!

There is not that much work in this class so it is important to do the assignments that do come up from time to time!

She's a fantastic teacher! The class is structured like read-watch-take notes-take test. Easy, right? Well... not exactly. The volume of the material in this class is extreme, like 100 pages a week and hours of additional videos that you need to watch and remember specific details. Challenging class!

The class has 4 exams (1 being the cumulative final). 1 discussion assignment, 2 "projects" (although 1 was cancelled) and an Orientation Quiz. She gives great instructions and is receptive to questions and concerns. She provides the textbook for free and ensures a safe space for all students. Hands down best teacher I've ever had!

Professor Garvey was the most communicative professor I have ever had. She always sends out at least 1 message a day reminding everyone of due dates and expectations, but also helpful resources to improve our learning. You can see that she does care a lot for her students. This class was perfect to add to my busy workload and I highly suggest her.

This class had lots of great material and unique resources. The professor does not pile on any homework, leaving you time to go through the material in-depth without having assignments hanging over your head. Strongly recommend, very informative course.

Professor is a professional but for summer it is a hard class. 100 pages to read, 4 hours her narrowing listening of this book, and a lot of extra videos. For weekly quizzes, 40 questions are timed (60 minutes) with only ONE attempt, pretty difficult. Extra credits, but we didn't have time for it. This class was overwhelming for the summer.

Best professor! She knows what she's doing and cares about her students! I would recommend taking her classes.
