She made this class way harder than it needed to be. Many students dropped her. Awful.
Was in the class for 2 weeks and dropped. she makes everything so hard. and she talks to her classes like they're children learning in preschool. shes a fairly new teacher, i believe, so she'll probably get better with time
Shes a good teacher but the course itself is difficult. A lot of material to cover in a short period of time. fast moving class. she uses powerpoints for notes which can be downloaded online. you should try not to miss a class so you can get all of the notes but if you miss a few classes its no big.
The semester is not yet finished, but i have an A in this class so far. A lot of info presented, but if you keep up with studying, do all the online quizzes and attend class regularly its not hard at all. there is no attendace policy but she does give extra credit quite often for coming to class. I would recommend her.
Class was easy if you took time to read the book & if you did homework quizzes. I hated the lectures. She doesn't go over all the material on the tests so you you might as well skip the lecture & read the book instead. Attendence isn't mandatory but she doesn't tell you when iClicker quizzes are so you still gotta go to get the points.
Her lectures are pretty much pointless, if she didn't offer extra credit at random classes and give out unexpected iClickers I wouldn't recommend going. Make sure that you read the book, tests and online quizzes are from the book NOT powerpoints presented in class. Most of the ?'s from the online quizzes are on the tests, study those.
WRITE DOWN THE QUESTIONS FROM THE ONLINE QUIZZES!! study them! they are word for word on the exams...same answer order and everything. Keep up with studying and you will be fine...interesting class!
I would definitely recommend going to class! The modules in the book are extremely long and dry, her lectures synthesize them down so they are understandable. The course is a little challenging, but she answers questions and knows what she's talking about.
She is very nice, but her class sucks! There are 2 long papers and a weekly quiz. Her tests are multiple choice and 3 long essays. And we only had an hour to complete it! She gives so much bs work. I would not take her again. Makes the class so much harder than it needed to be. Don't take her!
Great professor! I absolutely loved this class; it was so fascinating! Dr. Kozak is really cool, makes the subject approachable, and is always willing to help. Her lectures are outlined very clearly on powerpoints; easy to understand, even for someone not into psych. She is also funny and really sweet. One that I would definately recommend!!
Very easy class. No homework, gives extra credit often, has online quizzes that you can take twice for the best grade, exams are easy and the questions are str8 from lecture or the online quizzes, and random iclicker quizzes in class that are very easy. One drawback-VERY BORING. If it weren't for the random iclicker quizzes I wouldn't come to class
she's very smart and knows what she's talking about, but not the best at delivering material. lots of material to cover. you need to study. iclicker quizzes are on the tests. notes on moodle. questions from lectures on tests. could have made the class a bit more interesting.
Very nice woman and the class is very easy. The notes are all on PowerPoint and always accessible online. Does random iclicker quizzes so you shouldn't repeatedly miss class. Lots of material to cover but she makes it pretty interesting and easy.
Her tests were really easy if you knew the material...she was a great teacher...seemed a little snobby the first couple of days, but lightened up a lot after wards and i would take her again if i had the chance!!!
She isn't the most difficult, but she can be ridiculous at times. Her homework assignments are a useless waste of time, her tests are not too difficult, just not given enough time to complete them. She makes often students print up journal articles (up to 19 pages!) & bring them to class for 1 time use;

Good teacher, straight forward class. you don't need to print out the slides, i didn't and did fine. you just need to read, study, and pay attention. Interesting class highly suggested
Hard class but she is a good Professor. She tries to make it interesting but the modules are sometimes useless because the test questions are from the book. Psy 100 is a hard class and is going to be work no matter who you take it with.
there are four test,No final, 30 questions along with two essay question, and if you dont answer the essay question the way she feel fit marked down, and no she does not tell you at all what the essay questions are, then there are two writing assingments,go to class becasue there are POP QUIZZES, there are 10 worth ten point each, one last thing yo
Very easy class and great prof. I got a 3.8 and studied for the exams the night before. Print the powerpoints and take good notes and you will do great. (Takes a 99% to get a 4.0)
The paper is really hard and kills your grade. we had the opportunity to have peer review and even when I changed everything she asked and took it to the writing center still got a horrible grade. also her essays on the tests can really screw you or help you. wouldn't recommend about 40% dropped
I really liked this class, it gave me a genuine interest in health psychology despite the fact that I had never heard of it before I attended. Dr. Kozak gave us a lot of assignments, such as daily quizzes, so there were a lot of points available.
Dr. Kozak is a wonderful professor who seems geniunely interested in making sure her students learn the skills relevant to survive in academia.
A good class, but you really have to pay attention. Make sure you take good notes and review alot. The paper is hard but if you make the right changes and go to the writing center for help you're good. Very open to helping students if you ask. Make sure you focus and study hard and you'll be fine.
Prof. Kozak is all business. She doesn't cut corners. This is almost as if she wants her students to do bad. I know that is not true, but she is a very "dry" teacher. Don't matter how hard you try and do all the work, you still get a low grade. Her paper is an easy paper BUT meeting her requirements is almost impossible. That's not fun!! It's sad.
Professor Kozak is an amazing professor! You do have to work hard in her class and the paper is a bit challenging, but then again it is a 300 level class. There are random quizzes so keep up with your reading! For exams study the notes!!! But overall if you are interested in psychology then she is the professor for you!
I love this professor! She's very nice and funny and takes time to make sure you understand material. She's a hard grader and sometimes doesn't mention criteria she uses to grade the papers, so you might get some points off there, but overall, I would recommend her.
Dr. Kozak is a great professor! I wasn't interested in psychology before this class, but now I can't wait to take PSY225. Tests are average if you read the book and take notes as she goes through the powerpoint. Online quizzes can be difficult, but she does offer EC in class. I recommend! :)
Professor Kozak is great. I switched into this class late, and had no trouble adjusting to it. It is very necessary to attend lectures since all exams are based off of her notes. She is very organized and will help to explain things if you don't understand. I became very interested in psych after taking her class. She is an awesome teacher!
One word to describe this professor: HARD! She is super specific when it comes to essays on exams. There are no study guides. You need to know material inside and out before taking the exam if you would like to do somewhat good!
Very passionate. This class is HARD. You need to stay on your game at all times because anything is fair game for exams. No study guides. If you meet with her she will help you to figure out where you messed up. Essay questions are in depth. Also, REMEMBER studies that she talks about... they become exam questions sometimes.
This class was not easy. She throws so much information at you and her exams are really hard. Don't recommend her, she is not helpful and she is confusing. Good class but she is a bad teacher. If you have to take it, take with someone else.
Not an easy class for a 100 level. She is confusing and unclear. Don't recommend her.
Very good professor, If you go to class and study her fill in notes you will do well. If she has a TA helping out the class go to those as well and you can easily get an A
A lot of people are saying that this class is difficult. She does expect you to understand the material, but there is plenty of opportunity for extra help. If you go to her TA, it is pretty easy to get an A. She is very passionate about the subject, and it makes it interesting to learn. She even offers EC clicker quizzes so you need to go to class.
For an 100 level class, it was not easy. I don't recommend this professor. If you have to take it- take it with a different professor. Her exams were so hard and she isn't helpful.
I regret taking this class. I heard this professor was hard and I wish I listened to people. This class was not as easy as you would think it would be.
I aced this, but it was a lot more work than it should have been. Seemed way too detailed for a lousy 100 level course. Don't know if that was her or the department. Simple, typical soft science material, but in huge quantities. She does good keeping it interesting though.
She was very good at explaining the material and keeping it interesting. you can tell she cares a lot about the subject and that you do good. is always there for extra help and offers extra credit. if you go to class and fill out her power points well you do not need to buy the book, however the study guide book that comes with it is helpful.
She was a good professor and was really interested in what she was talking about, but some of the exams were a little difficult. Also there are random i-clicker quizzes and if you miss class when there is a quiz, then you automatically get a zero for that quiz. It was a little harsh, but an interesting subject nonetheless.
Boring lectures, class was not that bad but the exams were super hard. Lectures were pointless... She has random iclicker quizzes so youll want to show up sometimes.
This class was very interesting, she's clear and concise and you can always tell what she will ask you on the tests. The tests are easy if you pay attention and participate in class. She can be condescending and definitely thinks some questions or statements are "stupid" which I found off-putting.
Dr. Kozak is great. I was warned before taking her class that she was hard. She is hard and she expects a lot you. I bombed the first exam due to stupid mistakes and not really knowing what she wanted from the answers, I went to her office hours and aced the last two exams. She's extremely helpful and I wish I could take her for another class.
Super easy if you attend the class.
I took this course over the summer and online. Prior to taking this class I was told that Dr. Kozak was hard, but being the class was online- her expectations were clean cut. I used the 5th edition of the book rather than the 6th and still did great on quizzes. Dr. Kozak responds to emails quickly and is super understanding
Love Dr. Kozak! Her lectures are easy to understand and the exams are comprehensive rather than memorizing definitions. Very passionate about the subject. Highly recommend!
Engaging lectures & discussions, great prof and great courses. My favorite psych courses so far. Only complaint is I wish she'd look up a little more, sometimes she's looking at the slides w/o realizing ppl have their hands up for a comment/question. Otherwise fantastic, passionate, openminded and approachable. Hoping to take her again next term.
Kozak isn't the best. She forgets iClicker quizzes and instead of not counting some she smashes them in at the end of the semester. Her lectures are dry and no use of laptops/phones was frustrating for me to keep up. Her tests cover things not mentioned in the book or lecture. Even though she gives out lots of extra credit I dont suggest taking her
Dr. Kozak was very organized with her lectures and clicker quizzes. If you take the notes, the clicker quizzes are extremely easy. Her exams are right off of her notes and sometimes some questions from the book, but not likely. This class was very easy and required little studying!
Kozak is a good teacher but her tests are very difficult I studied a lot and still had a hard time on tests. Iclicker quiz mandatory so you always need to be at class. Final is really hard. Drops lowest exam though
Not overly impressed. Unlike most online courses, there are several due dates throughout the week for quizzes and the mandatory discussion forum. She does not allow a review of the quizzes or exams and lectures aren't posted until after the quizzes have been completed which begs the question, why have a prof? Not flexible.
Her exams are way to hard, even if you study and know the material. It's hard to get an A. Show up and pray for an angel to save you!
Class consisted of 5 exams, 11 quizzes, lowest ones get dropped. You NEED to study, but if you study, you'll be fine. She's happy to meet with students. Her lectures are interesting, and class discussion has the opportunity to be really good, she loves when discussions arise. Would take her again.
This class was a fair class. Lectures are straight forward. Mix of lecture and book material for exams. Ended with a 3.5 just study and you'll do fine
Lectures with tests and quizzes, and a few random extra credit assignments. The quizzes were unannounced and based on materiel from the book. The tests were based mostly on lecture. She's hard, but you'll learn a lot.
One of the worst professors I had at OU. There is too many bad things to say about her. A. She changes the rules around when she feels like it. B. If you don't follow the changing rules to her standards she fails you. C. Powerpoints audio clips are useless because she has a microphone from the 1900's. D. Contradicts pretty much anything you say.
Very inconsistent grader. Test questions are not presented in a way that is consistent with how the material is presented. Quizzes are given on material before the material is addressed in class. Not impossible but not my most enjoyed class, too hard for what it should be.
I've not had her for two classes. Psychopathology and a Basic Processes capstone class focusing on Obesity. And I love this professor, she really knows what she is talking about and is willing to look up things for you when she can't answer a question. She is a tough grader but still very approachable. You've got to do the work though!
material is not hard, it's just the essay questions. although i went to every one of her lectures and sat through, took notes, still didn't do so hot on her tests. she's very nice and is willing to find time for her students if they need it. approachable but her tests are still hard. make sure you read each chapter, start to finish.
Kozak is interesting. She's obviously full of herself and stands on her high horse, however she knows her stuff. Her tests are incredibly difficult, hardest I have ever had to study. Also 11 pop quizzes which is annoying since her lectures are boring but you have to go. Good thing the class is only tests and quizzes I guess.
I took my capstone class with her in an Obesity and Behavior related topic. I loved this class more than anything! There is a lot pf short article readings but you have to know it well enough to discuss for 40mins with peers. Talk, ask questions and proof your papers thoroughly. Go by her guidelines and you'll pass easily. Presentations happen!
I was warned by many before taking Dr. Kozak for Psychopathology and they were right. Her exams were outrageous! About 70% of the each tests were fair regarding what we learned from lectures, and the other 30% she pulled out of a hat. If you are going to take this class take Pickett.
online version: forum postings & responses due each week must display critical thinking skills. Be sure to post on time or you will lose points (specific, annoying due dates.) Quizzes are all taken from the text so skim. 2 easy case studies throughout the semester. I used google & found answers on quizlet/coursehero for the exams.
Brilliant teacher, she really knows her stuff. She encourages class discussion and takes into account feedback. She's also fairly accessible outside of class. Her tests are quite awful though and often have confusing questions; expecting mastery of the subject at hand. Pop-quizzes are normally not too bad, just read and pay attention to definitions
Dr. Kozak definitely cares about her students and goes above and beyond to make sure they are succeeding. She has very interesting lectures that make class interesting to attend. Best professor I've had!
Andrea Kozak is not a nice person or a good professor. Don't take her classes and don't ask for help outside the classroom. Just do yourself a favor and take ANY other psych prof but her.
She does not care about her students at all. The first day she said "I don't give out graduate school recommendations unless you do research with me." The first day... doesn't post grades for weeks. Interesting class, but if she's teaching the class do not take her.
She is insanely intellegent and passionate about psychology (as she is a trained psychologist). Participate in class! She loves class discussions. Do your reading and expect quizzes. I loved every minute of her class, but she does have high expectations and exam questions can be tough. Make flashcards of her slides! Know them and you will do well!
Her lectures are so boring and so long because she'll go off on tangents, so sometimes she'll only end up going through 3 slides the whole class. She also has many pointless in-class group assignments. Her exams/quizzes aren't THAT hard, but she's a tough grader and the questions/wording are very specific so that can make it tough.
The worse teacher that I have had this semester. She gave these quizzes that even if you read the readings for them, you still would not receive a good grade. Exam 3 was extremely difficult and the class average was so low she added points to everyones grade to try and bring it up. Overall, terrible teacher, take ANYONE else if you can.
Knowledgeable professor, but she does tend to get side tracked. Attendance is very important, as there are about 13 quizzes scattered throughout the semester. Do not take this prof unless you are a student who is dedicated to always coming to class- missing quizzes will lower your grade. Yelled at students for leaving class early after a quiz...
I wouldn't take this professor for this course. She goes off on tangents, she posted a homework assignment on Moodle but didn't tell the class, so almost the entire class didn't turn it in. Quizzes dropped a lot of peoples grades because they weren't based off the main ideas of readings most of the time. This class was so stressful.
Dr Kozak managed to make one of the most fascinating aspects of psychology tediously dull. She takes up the very little available class time letting students go into lengthy discussions, doesnt really get to the material in a timely fashion, and didnt lecture on personality disorders (my personal focus) and instead had us read her lecture notes.
Thirteen quizzes were given out during the course of this semester. I spent so much time on each reading and rarely got more than 50% right. It caused my grade to drop and dropped my gpa as well. So sad because I was really interested in Research Psych but I feel like I didn't get much out of this class besides a ton of stress.
Very clear during lectures, wants everyone to pass, and even offers extra credit. But she is unclear in her instructions for assignments, and the whole class once missed an entire assignment she never mentioned in class or on the syllabus. I studied A LOT for this class and still ended up with a 3.7. Grades WAY too harshly for a 2000 level class.
Dr. Kozak expects a lot but she does this for good reason. People complaining about having to go to class to pass. Well DUH! This is college! Kozak is VERY friendly and approachable. She is fair and clear with what she expects. If you are a college student who strives to do well & actually works for it then you will do great. She is awesome!
Grading is fair. I would say that the effort you put into your coursework directly translates into the grade you can expect to get. As long as you don't take any shortcuts in finishing papers/presentations and you stay on top of readings, you should be fine.
Dr. Kozak is an incredible professor. I took her for my PSY capstone and have no regrets. She made the content very interesting and enjoyable to learn about. While this class was the hardest of my college career, it was also the one I got the most out of. If you are willing to work for it, you will do well in her classes. Take her!
This class covers the main disorders in the DSM-5. There are quizzes weekly based on the reading that even if you read are tricky. Exam questions are unfairly written, meaning that there is always at least two correct answers and wording is either too specific or ambiguous. I worked in a psychiatrist's office and still feel like I failed. Avoid.
Take Intro to Clinical Psych! Dr. Kozak great & I switched my schedule to have another class with her next semester. Read the books& listen in class, youll do fine. Very knowledgeable, encourages class discussion and gives really thoughtful answers to questions. No quizzes for psy2410 but her other classes have them.
Although she is very knowledgeable and respected as a professor and psychologist, her tests were definitely a little more challenging then it had to be; basically questions with multiple right answers but is looking for the "most correct" answer. She is sweet and funny but is alright for a professor. Reading text important for exams
Kozak was overall a really great professor. I loved her enthusiasm, she was super helpful, and her assignments were straight-forward and interesting. It's pretty book heavy, but her lectures explain the reading really well. It was a little tough of a class due to the complicity of the information, but it's nice to challenge yourself.
Definitely makes tests harder than they need to be. LOVES LOVES participation, seems like she chooses favorites from this. Overall, fair teacher but tough on grading and tests even when you try very hard on them.
Really feels like nothing is good enough. This class was a nightmare. Take it with someone else.
Dr Kozak is a really friendly and approachable person. Her class was superrrr heavy with textbook readings and she also was a bit of a tough grader when it came to the written test questions (basically-open ended). Overall, she is a nice person and is a good professor but her class will definitely challenge you.
The teacher is understandable and compassionate. Treats her students respectfully
Dr. Kozak was an amazing professor. We had great in-class discussions, and it seems like she really wants her students to succeed. The wording on tests could be a bit confusing at times, but she is lenient with dropping questions that were problematic for many students. She also drops the lowest out of four test scores. I really enjoyed her class.
Best psych professor I've had at OU! She's very passionate about what she's teaching & always loves for us to ask questions. Quizzes are based on the book, exams are straightforward and are easier than other exams I've had in past psych courses. Make sure to attend class, as you'll miss info on her slides. She also wants you to succeed! Love her!
Good professor. Cares about her students. She almost cares too much about her students, in my opinion. Very discussion based, which is not my cup of tea. If you enjoy talking about your self and listening to other peoples' life stories, then this is the class for you. Grades based on exams and quizzes with some extra credit which was very nice.
Honestly, out of all of the professors I have had, at other colleges and Oakland University, Dr. Kozak is one of the best. She cares about her students and whether they understand the material or not. She is very open to meeting outside class and discussing exams. She relies a lot on her students reading the material and her lectures for exams.
I actually love Professor Andrea. A top tier Professor that made class challenging but fair. Learned a lot from it, but the textbook was time consuming and written portion grading in the exam was harsh. Overall wonderful person and Professor, but for my sainty would probably only take her once.
Great teacher, lectures are organized and make sense. We had fun discussions and in class assignments. Office hours were great help. Had to read a chapter a week so not too bad. Exams were all online and no cumulative final. I actually understood the material instead of memorizing it.
Kozak is an amazing professor, however her exams are book heavy. GET THE BOOK!!!!! if you study from book you will be okay, slides are supplementary. Attendance for Research Design in Psych is recommended but not mandatory. She will leave slides blank on moodle so you will come to class. She will help if you ask; very knowledgeable in her subject
Professor Kozak is my fav Professor, I left a review about her a year ago for a differnt class and here I am again. I learned a lot from her this semester and the people in the class were so engaged. She was not a tough grader here compared to her 2500 course, but she is still a Professor you need to put a lot of work to pass.
She was nice but the only grades for the class are exams and quizzes which I didn't like. She doesn't give study guides either.
Kozak teaches a challenging but rewarding class. While the textbook is essential, unstuck study can be a helpful study tool alongside reviewing the material. Expect engaging lectures and fair, if tough, exams.
This class is one of the hardest 2000 psych classes I've taken. The exams are hard and typically the exam isn't based on the review. The lectures are pretty unproductive.
I generally do well on exams but this was the hardest 2000 level course I have taken. I studied so much and still got 70's on the exam. TA does provide reviews and study sessions but barely helps tbh. Papers helped my grade because they were easy. Exams are worded very difficultly and everyone I have talked to had similar grades.
a good professor, the lectures go over a lot of what is on exams and is interesting. attendance isn't mandatory but you need to be in class to have all the information from powerpoints. 2 of the quizzes given are worth extra credit
I'm sorry but the lectures were so unproductive because the exams were on RANDOM things that we did not talk about and she just yaps about random stuff honestly during class. I wouldn't take her because the exams are hard (again, because she pulls them out of nowhere). There are curves and extra credit.
The class itself was extremely interesting and she taught it well. The only thing that drove me crazy were the exam questions did not always align with what was said or taught in class as much as they aligned with the text book or videos shown in class, and no study guides so you did not have much direction on what to really focus on.
Kozak is a genuinely nice professor who cares about her students! Sure, the lectures could've been more to the point, and the class would've benefited from some additional assignments, but it really is up to you to do the work and pass the class! Just actually read the textbook and pay attention in lectures and you'll be fine!
Kozak's lecture materials just don't really correlate to what she tests on. I got very little out of her lectures and I did not learn much at all to begin with. Much of the content on her tests and exams seemed to come out of nowhere.
Professor Kozak lectures very well and does not assign much homework. Her homework assignments are very easy. However, her exams are not perfectly aligned with the textbook or the PowerPoints. Many of her questions are small details that we did not even focus on.
