By far the best teacher at SHU. If you don't take him, you are missing out. End of story.
She goes through some of the problems quickly, but if you have a question she will throughly explain it until you understand. She is super nice and super sweet. I was gone for a week due to school sports and she let me email her a picture of my take home test. Don't expect to do well if you don't pay attention or do homework
Be sure to do the homework for each section the day of the note-taking lecture. She gives out partner quizes (partner is optional). She let's you take pictures of her notes. Easy to talk to, she cares, not difficult to get along with and answer questions before, during or after class. The textbook is helpful for those who prefer reading from a book
I definitely recommend her! There's honestly not much I can say about her teaching style (as the class was online). I gave her helpfulness a 3 because during an exam week I became quite ill, so I emailed her on a Sat. (Test was on Tues.) and asked if I could have a 1 day extension. I never heard back from her. Other than that, easy A!
She is smart, approachable, and a phenomenal teacher and explainer!!! She is the best professor I've ever had. She was actually a substitute for my class but she turned out to be amazing professor!!! She has notes that you fill out, and teaches exactly what's on the test and gives lots extra credit and makes math make sense. :) Take math with her!!
Great teacher! Understands how to help students in the most effective way, homework necessary to pass quizzes, tests and homework quizzes!
Professor Lazarski seemed to rely on her students to catch her careless mistakes quite often. It was somewhat difficult to keep up with the notes when I always had to double check her basic algebra for mistakes. Lots of bookwork but her notes are helpful when she copies them correctly.
Lazarki's Precalc class is easy to understand when you don't miss any class. She's very helpful.
Professor Lazarski is great. Just remember, this is calculus its not going to be an easy class. If you put in the work she is there for you every step of the way. Her expectations are clear and she presents the material in a concise and easy to understand manner. Do your homework, use her office hours if your confused and you will do well.
Mrs lazarski is a great professor. She takes a while to get used to, but once you get used to her she is very good at what she does. I took her for both precalc and calc, so that speaks for itself.
She is the best math professor I've had at Schoolcraft. I'm currently taking her Per-Calc course and she makes it super easy. It math guys, if you don't show up you won't pass. Test are easy and she gives out study guides. Yeah she makes mistakes but she corrects them
liked her better for pre-calc, better at teaching lower math in my oppinon. she wants her students to pass and will do what it takes to make time outside of class to help her students. She makes mistakes in notes which makes it hard to follow the notes, homework heavy, must do homework to pass quiz's but for tests she gives out a review which helps
P: cares about your grade, tons of xt cred, accessible, fun, patient, allows partners for quizzes, study guides, graded homework (10 questions & 20 pts per chapter) provides great opportunity for points outside of tests/quizzes C: excessive writing errors, moves quickly, forgetful It's an easy 4.0 if you want it to be. I hope to have her again!
I struggle with math quite a bit and she really put effort into helping you learn if you made it apparent you were trying. There is a decent amount of homework but i don't think you will get swamped by it. And she has homework checks to grade the homework (selects random problems for you to repeat out of your notebook). Was a great teacher imo!
Best math teacher I've had. So kind and willing to help you understand the material. Very good with getting back with students and reminding us about due dates. Kind lady. Take her.
Professor Lazarski is incredible. She's very understanding and relatable, also she does partner quizzes so choose your partner wisely. She gives extra credit, and her homework assignments and quizzes are similar to the exam. She gives a fair amount of homework, and the homework is due the day of the exam. I skipped pre-calc and still did fine.
Great at helping students understand. She explained everything clearly. Packet of notes for every chapter that were very helpful. Many opportunities to improve grade. Had office hours and answer questions before starting lecture. Truly enjoyed taking her class. Also she always dressed super stylish!!!
Being that I dreaded returning to school because of Math, Prof. Lazarski made it almost painless. She responded quickly to emails, provided review sessions for tests and was encouraging. So glad to have taken her classes.
She is a very good professor, always offers help, and wants everyone to do great! definitely recommend!
Prior knowledge of the subject? You'll be fine. Bookwork assignments do not correlate with exams. Apparent inability in lecture to teach concepts from more than one angle. Countless algebraic mistakes.
Professor Lazarski presented the material in fun and clear ways. I thought she was a great teacher! I struggle with math and I learned a lot from this class. The only thing I didn't agree with is the structure of the math finals. It's set up departmentally, which a lot of what we covered isn't included. I thought the final exam was pointless.
Easy to talk to and email encouraging things.
She gets the job done. Sure she makes little mistakes while you do notes but at least she catches them. Knows the material and wants you to succeed. Homework checks are just 10 problems due the day after an exam. Available outside of class. Gives back graded exams the day after you take them so that was a huge plus. Partner quizzes. You'll be fine.
BEWARE If you're not already proficient in calculus before taking this class. The only time that the constant algebraic errors were corrected was when a student caught it, or she had worked so far into the problem and became stuck. This made it unnecessarily confusing for one to follow along when trying to learn calc for the first time.
She offers great structured note packets that she fills with you on each lecture. your grade consists of hw, quizzes and homework. She also has a couple of extra credit opportunities. If you do the homework and the reviews you will have a good grade in this class. I enjoyed having her as a teacher.
Horrible. I wouldnt consider her a professor for this online course. She uses recorded lectures that arent even her. You pretty much teach yourself. If you dont understand math concepts then good luck. Waste of money if you ask me.
Professor Lazarski was very hard to get a response from. The plus is that she offers extra credit with every module but if you take this class online you will receive NO help from her at all. All assignments are done in MyMathLab so she does not do anything but collect a check for you enrolling in her class.
very good class, take guided notes. has review packets that prepare you for the test perfectly. TAKE HER TRUST. GIVES LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT
I really enjoyed this teacher, if you do all the assignments and homework you will pass. tests are tricky but she does give credit for trying. I did not use my book, this was an online class and we did everything thru mymathlab. I highly recommend you take her.
Exams are nothing like study guides, rushes through notes and doesn't explain topics very well. Very disappointed in her teaching ability, I would expect more from a teacher teaching calc 1. If you enjoy learning by yourself than you would love this class, however if you struggle with math. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone ever. So bad!
This class was really difficult just by nature, but she gave us guided notes for each chapter! I found those really helpful, especially when reviewing. The reviews for the exams were also very straightforward and helpful on exams. I didn't enjoy this class but I think if I had to take it again, I wouldn't mind taking it with her.
Ms. Lazarski is one of the first professors I had at Schoolcraft. She literally made me love math. Even though she gives a lot of homework and she explains a bit too fast, she is always ready to reexplain and help during office hours. As long as you have completed all the homework and practiced the review and quiz, you are going to ace the exams.
I have never been close to failing a class until I took this class. All she does is fill in the blanks and do the problems on the note packet. Acting like we know what to do. Goes way too fast in lectures and doesnt go in detail / explain the problems. Grade is based off exams. If you like learning on your own, then Id suggest to take this class.
If you love math and have a strong math background, this class will be good for you. If you arent the best at math, this is definitely not the professor for you since she has a heavy bias towards students who struggle with the subject. She is not understanding of at-home issues, which is needed, especially during COVID.
Professor Mayes sends weekly reminders of what is due and adds a note of encouragement. Her tests are straight forward, if you do the homework and the practice exams you will do fine. She is available to explain anything you do not understand on the homework with email. She also adds extra places to review material if you need more help.
Professor is not always willing to work with students. DOES NOT allow late quiz/ test taking for any reason. Homework is turned in through a third-party site. May call you out for things in front of the class.
took math113 online. best math professor in my opinion. Watch lecture videos and then do the hw and practice exam and you should do good on your tests. I failed math twice and took it online with Mayes and finished with 88%. I would take her. also gives you EC if you attend the PAL reviews for your exams and it is so helpful, the EC is just a bonus
Mayes is a good teacher, she makes calc broken down into easy to understand chunks it just can feel a little fast and a lot but that is also just kind of calc in general. There is a lot of extra credit opportunities ur able to have group quizzes and the homework is very very easy to get 100 on I recommend even if math is not a great subject for you
Calc I was just an easy course in general, she was an average teacher. If you suck at math, don't take her. She explains everything in a very general way. She is just decent. Nothing too special. She gives out extra credit during every unit. She is a very nice person though. Love her.
There is simply not enough character count to accurately portray how genuinely and truthfully awful taking math with this professor was. Does nothing but be entirely unhelpful, never responds timely, and does nothing to help or understand. I was lucky even to pass this class at all, could not find a single nice thing.
If you cannot understand math without someone to ask questions... do not take this class. Homework there is A LOT. Quizzes - 5 Tests - 5 (relatively easy, 10 questions max, in person at testing center.) There is extra credit. Take advantage. Final - 50 questions, 200 points. ( in person) Martha W. holds reviews. She always seems distracted.
I took Math 113 online. Professor provided online lecture videos. Examples in mandatory lecture videos explained problems well, but did not provide enough to complete the homework. Homework load was a bit much, but you will be fine if you time your assignments correctly Tests are taken at testing center, quizzes are online. Answers emails quickly.
Professor Mayes does an ok job at teaching. Her unwillingness to help students along with favoring is significantly there. For notes, there are just fill-in-the-blank packets handed out, and more than often she will go off-topic to talk about how she got divorced and married one of the college's police officers. Overall easy after completing hw.
I seen a lot of people who say this class is challenging I took Math 111 and I haven't been to school in four years I currently hold an 90 in the class, I love the way the online class is set up, and even doing the PaL Reviews for extra credit! I would definitely take another course with Prof. Mayes!
One of my favorite professors by far. It's so clear that she really cares about her students. The class is well structured and organized, so you can know what to expect from syllabus week. I would take her class 20x over if I had to. She supplies several resources to help with homework, quizzes, and tests (office hours, PALs, textbook, etc.)
Professor Mayes is decent overall, though her teaching style doesn't suit everyone. The class is a bit fast-paced, but with consistent effort and using resources like Unstuck AI for study prep, you can succeed. Just be ready to advocate for yourself if needed.
Amazing professor overall would highly recommend, there is alot of online homework but she is very mindful and lenient .
Don't take her; she is not a professor that's willing to help you if ur having trouble with math. She really just collects a pay check. Martha that does PAL sessions is always in a hurry to leave. She missed up my gpa!! Just take math at another school where its fully online and u don't have to get a 0 if u can't show up for the test.
honest she is not helpful at all. Short, dry,& doesn't smile, she won't help you at all. She does practice keys for each exam & you answer the problems, but she makes some of them due after the date of the test & won't upload the problems solved out until after the due date. Well that won't help you if you can't see how she solved the problems,
She's a great professor! She gives out great notes and lotss of extra credit opportunities. Her exams are very similar to the homework she assigns and to the practice quizzes/ reviews she hands out. So as difficult as this class is, she tries her best to make it easier for everyone. I would def take her again for another math class.
