Goes very slowly on all material. She makes sure you get it before moving on. Expect lots of small tests, which are usually pretty easy. Willing to help you out one on one with stuff you don't understand.

very good teacher, doesnt like talking in her class...but she explains everything thoroughly and really cares whether or not every single person in the class understands. very caring teacher and nice lady
class was hard but she's nice. she's pretty strict and she has a little attitude, but overall she was pretty good. she was helpful and cared a lot about how you did
The class is super easy if you have had any statistics before. There's probably about 5 tests over the year and a quiz. Just make sure you don't say anything you don't want to be heard, she has amazing hearing... haha i'm not kidding.
She's an awesome teacher who really goes over everything in class. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I was in a class that asked a lot of questions and we moved slowly, but she loved my class. Yes, she doesn't like individual conversations, but as long as it's not too random, you can have some fun group disscusions.
wonderful teacher! she will always help you if you ask her! i hate math and she made it easy to sit through!
I hate math and was dreading this class. She is an amazing teacher who does her best to make sure everyone understands the material. Definitely take Stats with her!
I hated statistics because I just hate math, but I loved Professor Metts... She was the nicest lady ever!! Very chill about coming to class and very helpful. Always answered my questions. Great teacher, I learned a lot
I loved Professor Metts. She was friendly and helpful. She made her tests very do-able and always answered all of my questions clearly. I've never taken Stats prior and learned a lot from her!
Great Teacher but spends too much ime helping students. Students become dependent on her help and dont try to learn by themselves.
Definitely take Metts if you can. She is willing to help whoever needs it. Ends class early sometime, very understanding of schedules. So nice, and practical. Loved her class.. and I HATE math. She is great, one of my favorite professors.
Love her! She is such a great teacher and you really learn a lot in her class. She is an easy teacher if you pay attention just a little bit. Can get away without doing the homework and she doesnt take attendance. She so nice and always willing to help!
You can learn a lot if you want to. Really sweet woman, and she really wants you to do well. Plus she lets you bring a notecard to each test. I'd recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat
Really cool teacher, the kind who is a real person not a psycho teacher. Easy to talk to and extra help is easy to come by. And notecards on tests? Yeah, take her.
Although the class is pretty easy, she is not very helpful if you have questions.
Ok teacher, alittle confusing, hard to get a hold of outside of class and tests are pretty hard but easy if you study
Very helpful in class. Wants you to do well. Lets out of class when she is done rather than moving on. Allows notecards for tests. Rarely makes you turn in homework. Really lenient attendance policy, although she does take attendance.
I really liked having Metts as my Stats professor! Being somebody who's terrible at math, she made the subject bearable and, honestly, I thought the class was pretty easy, and I'm terrible at math. A bit ditzy at times, but overall, a good professor for those of us who aren't math geniuses.
Extremely nice, but horrible professor.
amazing. i was terrible at stats last year and she made everything seem so easy. shes also really nice and fun. DEFINITELY take her class!
I went into Stat's without previous knowledge on the subject and she did not teach to my level, instead teaching to those few who had prior Stat's classes. If you know how to understand Stat's you should be fine in this class. If not, don't expect her to be able to explain it in a way you can understand it unless you already love all things math.
Loved this professor! I came into the class hating math, but her teaching and explanations made things so simple. She's very helpful and sweet, and I enjoyed the class even while disliking the subject. Cancels class frequently on fridays. Five tests overall. Would definitely recommend her.

Very nice. The class is easy if you do the work.
Great professor, she cares about her students a lot and is helpful. Do your work and you will be ok. If you ask questions she will explain things many times. Just don't talk in class and she will be happy.
Mrs. Metts is a really nice woman who cares about her students. Can be really strict at times but she usually jokes around in class. Always get let out early whenever shes done with the lesson. Make sure you take notes or you will fail. She will work with you if you need and always answers questions. Very nice
Professor Metts was an AMAZING stats teacher, she took time to make sure you understood anything you have questions about. She was super nice and great to talk to, definitely take her!
She's such a caring professor. Even though, I'm horrible at math in general, she explains it as many times as she needs to. Ask questions, please!!! Don't just sit there in class like a lump on a log. You will do much better on quizzes and tests. Trust!
Great Teacher? goes really fast with her teaching but it can be possible to slow her down. Only downfall is how fast we go. She is VERY caring and helpful. If you like/dislike Stats, she would be a great teacher to have. Tests are hard unless you do your HOMEWORK!! So do your homework. ASK QUESTIONS!!!!! THAT IS THE BEST IN HER CLASS!!
Metts is a very frustrated Professor. She complains that no one does their homework but then doesn't try to find a solution. Doing the homework definitely helps in her class, as well as reading the chapters. Her tests are hard but if you study hard you'll do well. She lets class out early a lot.
Do the hw or you won't learn anything. She complains we don't ask enough questions about the material but it's bc we are so lost. She doesn't know much about math, she doesn't even have a math degree. If you do the hw you can teach yourself. Waste of my $40,000, bc she taught me nothing.
I am absolutely horrid at math but I did fairly well in this class. Statistics in general is really difficult and the course covers a lot of information but Metts lets the class use notecards for exams. GO TO CLASS. If I ever missed a class because of illness or something, I felt SO lost. She gets upset easily and hears EVERYTHING but is very funny
One of the easiest classes I took freshman year, and I am not a math person. She makes all the concepts simple, her tests are open-note (with a notecard), and she's really nice. ALSO, if you want to get an A, you NEED to do the homework (it's not a lot, I promise). Go to her office hours if you're struggling. If you work hard, she'll work with you.
Love Metts! She is very sweet, doesn't like alot of talking during class. Ask questions, crack jokes, understand the material & you will do just fine. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! Doesn't collect homework, maybe 1 or 2 quizzes. Great Professor!
Really nice. Tests are fairly easy. She's funny. Likes alot of class participation even though its math. You can do the HW or pay attention in class. Everything she says in class is pretty easy to understand and is how it will be presented on the test.
Dr. Metts was my easiest teacher freshman year. I never did the homework and still got an awesome grade. As long as you pay attention to whats going on in class and do the review/study for the test the night before you'll be fine. Allowed to use a notecard on each test which you don't really need...if math isn't for you I definitely say take her
Dr. Metts was a great teacher. If you pay attention and do the homework, you will do well in this class. She has a great sense of humor and is great at clarifying any questions you might have. Class was let out early a lot, too!
She's such an amazing teacher!I'm horrible at math so when I had to sign up for freshman stats,I was dreading it.She made it so incredibly bearable, though. You have homework every class but it's super easy. Her tests are basically based off of the homework so if you do it,you'll be fine!Definitely take her!
Hi, Professor Metts. I know you are showing this to your class right now, and you should be. Listen class, SHE'S AN AMAZING TEACHER. Straight and to the point. ALWAYS willing to help. Just do the homework... and I mean DO THE HOMEWORK, and you'll be set. You're lucky to have her.
Such a great professor. Takes time for everyones questions and knows when someone needs help even when they dont ask. If you do the homework you will do well in the class!
I'm not great at stats, but compared to my class I was genius. Ended up with a B+ without ever doing the homework and skipping plenty of classes. However I had the tests that she gave to the previous semester so that was very helpful to prepare with. She is a great person and as long as you don't use a phone in class you are good to go!
Actually am inspired to take on a Stats major because of her! Highly recommend!
I loved Professor Metts. Although math is not my thing, her class was my favorite this semester. She is a very likable person, always available for help and is very flexible to the needs of her students. You are all so lucky to have gotten her!
Dr. Metts was a wonderful professor. She genuinely cares about her students and is very knowledgeable about statistics. It is possible to get 100% on almost of all of her tests if you do the reading and homework. Overall, one of my favorite classes.
Dr. Metts is by far one of the best professors I ever had. If you do the homework and ask questions, then I promise you will do well in her class. She is really interested in getting to know everyone, and makes the classroom experience something to look forward to. I wasn't a math person, and I needed stats for my major, but I still got an A!
Dr. Metts is a really great professor! She's unique here. Some professors just love the material but you can tell she loves the material AND loves teaching. She is definitely there to help you and if you don't understand something, she is willing to help you out tremendously. I hope when she shows this comment to you guys on the 1st Day, it helps!
Professor Metts is a very nice teacher! She is always there for you when you need help and she really cares about her students' success. She does present the material (through daily class notes) in a somewhat confusing way (but it's more because of how difficult the subject matter is to teach).
I took her for J- term. She was really nice and definitely adapted the class to our abilities. The class was rather difficult but I was so happy to take it in 13 days and have such a nice teacher
Honestly, I get the feeling in class that she doesn't fully understand what she is teaching her students and is overall confusing. I end up going home and teaching myself how to do everything and i never feel prepared for the tests. I live in the tutoring center.
The class material itself is interesting, but the way stats is taught at Elon is a drag. Notes are taken every single day and Metts is very condescending when questions are asked. Even when I came to office hours, she was condescending. Lots of regular homework.
Overall nice professor however she did not give grades throughout the semester. Midterm grade based on homeworks. She did not grade nor give feedback on the midterm project and the final project, which both required a lot of time and work. Be prepared to not know your grade the whole semester. Gives clear instructions but not super available
She is a nice professor, and her notes definitely help for this class. Homework was slightly difficult, but gives you a better understanding to statistical concepts. Even with tutoring I had difficulty understanding concepts or what to expect on the test. But overall she knew what she was doing, plus willing to help and answer any questions.
Nice person but not a great professor. The projects, which were very long and tedious, were not graded so we did not receive feedback on both the midterm and final projects. I would recommend for an easy stats class but not if stats is your major and you actually wanna learn.
Dr. Metts is a nice person, but an awful teacher. I had to take this class for a 1st Year requirement, and it was tedious. The classes were boring, her notes are hard to follow, and she is completely disorganized. Math is not my strong subject and this class was hard to take due to her inability to teach to kids who didn't move as fast as she did.
Professor Metts is super nice. If you don't show up you can get all of the notes online so you will never be behind, but she is less likely to help you out if she notices your absence. I recommend showing up, paying attention, and asking good questions and you'll be fine. Also, make sure to get a good group for the final project.
There was one time everyone was confused about a problem she had written and she got defensive and accused the entire class of not trying hard enough. I have had to argue about every single test grade I received because she takes points off if you don't write the same thing as her, even if the answer is right. She only lectures.
Dr. Metts is an alright prof, she gives skeleton notes and posts them online after class. She can be moody sometimes and is hard to get outside of class. She isn't great at explaining concept in multiple ways. The tests are easy and there's minimal homework. There are two annoyingly vague group projects that happen at the end of the semester.
Awful. Can not explain stats at all. Passed on my own doing. Dont know why she cant seem to remember how to teach Stats.
Metts is great as a person and a prof. she genuinely cares about her students and will wants to know you outside of just being her student. skeleton notes every class with completed versions online after class, barely any homeworks and i think only 3 tests and 2 group projects. SAS is also tough and she expects a lot but its definitely doable
Dr Metts was generally nice, but sometimes lacked in explanations of material. Theres a few homework assignments, a few tests, and one group project (which we didnt do this semester but seemed rough). Online it was a really easy class to get an A in, didnt seem like it was going to be too much tougher in person
She is a bit disorganized, although to be fair it is during the time of COVID-19. She has lots of knowledge towards mathematics and loves to help students reach their potential!
I would not recommend taking a class with Dr. Metts. Although she is passionate about what she teaches, she was very disorganized, which made the class very difficult & complicated for me personally. We only have a few grades the entire semester which really sucked because it was hard to raise your grade if you got a low grade on 1/4 of the tests.
Dr. Metts is single handedly the worst professor I have had at Elon thus far. She was extremely disorganized, did not wear her mask in class until the dean was involved, and would still take it off. Additionally, she was clear in her distaste for the people that chose to be fully online (likely due to her unsafe COVID practices) avoid at all costs!
Probably the worst professor I've ever had. Throughout the entire semester we only had 4 total grades, 3 of which were tests. We only had 1 grade in the system for the majority of the year, and had no earthly idea of how we were doing in the class. Additionally, Metts does not know how to properly teach, and just rambles on without making sense.
She was very nice and helpful for the majority of the year. Can you stop her at anytime during her lectures to ask questions. However, at the end of the year she dropped a group project on us with no explanation. Overall, shes not a terrible teacher. Her tests are easy and she has a good amount of extra credit available.
This was the hardest math class I ever took. I learned nothing, and although she was very good at providing structured notes, studying the notes did not help on the tests. She did not give enough in class examples that mimicked the tests, which mades tests impossible. I had no idea what was going on, and the final project was very long and hard.
Dr. Metts is such a sweet person. She could've explained some concepts a little better on the first go around, but is always so willing to work with students outside of class or help walk through concepts a second time. Attendance wasn't mandatory but certain in-class activities were referenced on tests. I loved her & would recommend!
Her criteria is NOT at all clear, and non-negotiable when you question the grade you have gotten. I went to tutoring and her office hours and could not get above a 60 on the test, DOES NOT GRADE THE HOMEWORKS OR ACTIVITIES that are promised to be over 30% of your grade, the only reason I did well is from showing up to class and extra credit.
She is horrible at explaining everything, does not know how to teach at all, when you ask a question, she embarrasses the students and make you feel like you should have known this all along. Tests have nothing to do with the study guides-or even most of the lectures, and she never graded homeworks that were promised to be about half of your grade
Do NOT take stats with Dr. Metts, she does not know how to explain any of her content, bad at answering questions, does not grade anything until the very end, if she grades at all, class was mostly about SAS and the tests had nothing to do with SAS, the only reason I did well is from extra credit
If you have taken Stats before you will be fine. If you have not, it may require more work, but office hours are very helpful. Lots of following along on skeleton notes and lectures can get very boring.
She is a horrible teacher. She is boring. She is mean. Makes a horrible first impression and it just gets worse. Can not work with other people in class. Does not hand anything out. Does not tell you about homework and gets mad when you don't do it. No late grades. No talking at all in class. Literally the worse teacher I have had at Elon. Just no
She's a very sweet person, but she is not a great professor. We had 3 tests over the course of the semester and they made up our whole grade. She did not put grades in until right before they were due. She never responded to emails, and introduced a final project, new unit, and told us we were having another exam with 2 classes left in the semester
Professor Metts was a nice professor and gave little homework/assignments and gave skeleton notes for every class but the whole class was confusing, long, and boring. She doesn't do the best job of explaining the topics we are learning. She assumes students know what she is talking about. Very vague instructions about the final project as well
Dr. Metts was very laidback in the beginning of the year, but that quickly faded. She brought a whistle to our class. A WHISTLE. I have never even had a coach whistle at me much less a professor. As I show her respect I would expect at least a fraction of the same. Absolutely wild strategy to get the attention of a classroom.
Dr. Metts is extremely unorganized. She does not know how to use the grade book, so I have no idea what grade I have in the class. Her tests are super confusing and barely have anything to do with what we do in class. Our final projects are due in a week and she hasn't even posted the instructions after promising that she would post them last week
Dr. Metts is unorganized and picks favorites. Don't take her if you can avoid it. If you can't you will survive but be ready to teach yourself. She is usually available during her office hours and I highly recommend going to those because she is much nicer by herself. She is also very helpful during them. Don't try to email, she won't respond.
Dr. Metts is an unreliable professor. She expects you to go to every single class just so you can sit there and listen to her ramble on about notes that aren't even helpful for tests. She never grades anything and her tests are impossible. She also waits until the very last minute to assign anything or give instructions for projects and she's rude.
Dr. Metts brought a whistle to class to control conversations she started. She also assigns 3 test that are each 15% of your grade and nothing on them has anything to do with the lessons taught. Finally she posted the instructions for the final project (15% of our grade) 2 hours before it was due. Our final was also opened very late.
Dr. Metts was a horrible professor for this class. Her lectures were long, boring and confusing. If you miss one class of notes, you are going to do poorly on the test. She is very unhelpful and does not provide ample instructions. There were very little homework assignments and only 1 group project, so your whole grade is based on test grades.
Does not care about her students. Uses complicated coding software but barely explains how to use it. Waits until last minute to post grades so little opportunity for extra credit. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
You won't know your final grade until the last day of school. Her notes aren't bad but they're long and you're gonna end up having to teach it all to yourself at the end of the day. She seems willing to help though if you ask.
Class is easy if you have taken a stats class before, even then if you haven't you'll pass with not much needed effort. Class is just boring, slow going and she is quite strict with how she teaches. Not really a collaborative class, nor fun either. You'll pass fine, but struggle thorugh it.
you really want to like her because she is a sweet person and is funny but she cannot teach stats. I owe any learning to our TA and she was the goat but we shouldnt have to rely on another student for the entire semester. Again please try to aviod her as a teacher if you dont want to actaully teach your every single thing on your own time.
This teacher has been the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. She does not respect the students, and never wants to be in the classroom. I have had to teach all of the material to myself. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS with this professor.
Dr. Metts's mean and rude demeanor cast a shadow over our classroom. She entered with a bad attitude, we bore the brunt of her frustration, hearing her yell, "I'm cranky and tired!" She disrespected us and struggled with the technology she demanded we master, making us feel foolish for simply seeking clarity. The lack of guidance was overwhelming.
DO NOT TAKE.... AVOID AT ALL COSTS. She does not know how to teach at ALL. She is so unorganized and does not grade anything. She seems nice on the first day, but this class will be your worst nightmare. She does not teach she just makes you take notes for 2 hours every class. She will expect you to learn software and the concepts on your own.
Easily the worst professor I've had at Elon. I have a 3.9 GPA and major in Engineering, I know how to learn. I know how to do well in class. Even with a bad teacher, if the material is available and organized, I can do just fine. Not only is Dr. Mett's a poor lecturer, her material is unorganized, messy, and her assignments are totally ambiguous.
If you aren't super into math and just need to take stats as a requirement I would not recommend Metts. Every class is a lecture, she says in the syllabus HW is 15% of the grade but we have only done 1 homework assignment total. There are 3 tests and a group project which will end up being what your grade is based on. Margin of error is thin.
Metts's class can be boring because she spends the time filling in the pre-posted notes, but you don't have to take notes because she will post completed ones. Tests are easy if you kind of pay attention and do the practice worksheets. Dr. Metts is a very nice professor and is willing to help. Overall nothing too bad or great about this class.
She is super disorganized, and her lesson plans make no sense. She also takes forever to grade anything and she doesn't really teach and goes off topic a lot. It took like two months to get one of our tests back. Unless your took stats before this and pay attention very carefully to her slides. I would not recommend taking this class.
Good teacher who sets clear guidelines on what to expect. Does notes in class so all you need to do is follow along. Found her to be nice to talk to outside class. Hardest part really is the three tests and final project. Not a hard class if you've taken stats before. Attendance wasn't mandatory but if you don't show up you're not going to do well.
She is super nice and has clear lectures. Hard tests.
Metts has boring lectures that last the entire class; she essentially covers nothing but expects her students to know the material. No assignments are given besides tests, making a good grade almost impossible in this class. She is also mean and cannot teach this class. DO NOT TAKE!
She is a very kind and understanding professor, but her tests are difficult and her lectures can be unclear. She also grades slowly, and there are very few assignments throughout the course.
She is kind, and I appreciate how she learns names on the first day. However, she takes almost the entire semester to put in and grade assignments. She gets distracted easily and skips over important material. Her tests are hard. I would only take this course if you're good at stats and have no problem with waiting a long time to find out grades.
Dr. Metts wastes entire classes ranting and still expects full understanding. Lectures are a mess, office hours are useless, and no grades are posted at all except tests, which come back weeks later. Exams don't match study materials, so you never know where you stand. Extremely frustrating.
