Very helpful. Always smiling.
Fun teacher and easy class. Assignments not graded hard. Quizzes are easy and there's only one test. Enjoyable and recommended.
The teacher didn't stop for any one behind in the class or needing help. Extra credit is weekdays and if you can't make it (work durring the week days)then you don't get it. she will not offer any other extra credit. She is strict and doesnt take time to explain.
I disagree with studetn below. Ms. Neptune was very helpful and answered my questions immediately. Very friendly and willing to help. Great experience!
Prof. Neptune was a great teacher. I took eng 1c online over the summer so there was a lot of work packed into a short amount of time. She answered all of my questions quickly and she had very clear directions. Very nice teacher!
This teacher is very helpfull. She has a nice personality, and she taught the subject very well.
She is really nice and an easy grader. She gives you tons of chances for extra credit and to up your grade with journals.
Andrea is a helpful, energetic, fun and fair instructer!

She was awesome. very nice and she graded pretty easilly too.
she is an awesome fun teacher would reccomend to anyone that needs or wants to take one of her classes
good teacher!
Great Teacher, very helpful, fun class, do the work and just turn it in and you'll get an A
She is an awesome teacher! Very helpful and understanding. Her assignments are always to the point and self-explanatory. Always responses back with her comments.Willing to go an extra mile for you. Take her class and you will never regret about it.
always on top of the syllybus and thier for the students she wants students to progress
Excellent teacher! I definitely recommend her to everyone! For someone like me who doesn't like english, this class was good. I would strongly suggest you take her class!
Cooooooooooooooooool
I love Neptune, she is so nice and loves writing. I took this class online and also had her for English 1B and took this class especially because she taught it. I love her teaching techniques and understands that as long as you give effort into your work, she gives you full credit.
She was a exceptional professor! I learned much from her hardwork teaching me.
She's really good! I made alot of progress with her good teaching.
Awesome professor and she is very helpful. If u take eng a with her i am so sure that u will pass her class and the huge final to get into eng1a. Which is pretty easy.Just stay on topic of the essay and pay attention in class u will pass for sure. And come to class everyday b/c at the end u will get 25 extra credit pts.
online class - easy A if that is what you are looking for, she only reviews the large assignments and not the little writing assignments. She will insult your work too if it isn't what she likes even when it is within the assignment. Also, she is really bad about responding to emails in a timely manner. Overall I think she sucks
She is a wonderful teacher. She has a great style of teaching. I loved her!
I normally dont write in these but I really disagreed with the student who posted about the same class I'm in. True, the freewrites are credit/no credit, but she gives a lot of feedback on the long story assignments. And she replies really quickly to my emails and answers my questions. I was scared to take creative writing but am happy I did!
she is a very nice professor. if you do all the work(theres not very much) you'll get an easy A. only had to turn in 5 essays. i like the way she teaches, shes very helpful and wants you to do well. i recommend taking her, shes great!
Great teacher. very helpful and dedicated. Easy to pass the class is all the work is completed.
Great teacher, very clear, doesn't put up with any bull****. Overall, she is an awesome professor!
Neptune's online creative writing class was great. There is a lot of work in her class, but my writing definitely got better and she makes it fun. She answers emails quickly and is always friendly.
I'm currently in her HD44 class. Love this class, easy and fun and helpful. Im purposely taking tue/thur classes next semester to continue with her HD 45 class. i reccommend this class, esp. for parents or future teachers.
Energetic and funny. Lots of reading, and LOTS of learning! Very organized teacher; except i seemed to be the student she had trouble with keeping my papers organized. B
GREAT teacher. She is very helpful and will guide you through every thing you need to know in order to do well in her class. Fair grader. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I love her! She's amazing and I look forward to her class everyday. She let's you be creative and you learn a lot. I'm taking her for two classes next semester. You also get extra credit if you everyday in the semester. I definatly recommend her.
Prof Neptune's class was a pretty bad experience. For an English teacher she didn't have a very good grasp of language. She constantly uses words incorrectly or busts out malapropisms. I also found her grading inconsistent. There are far better ENGL profs to be found at Sierra.
I took Professor Neptune's Online Creative Fiction class, and enjoyed every minute of it, even though some of the weekly assignments from the book were a little hard to write. This instructor is very encouraging and helps with story-troubleshooting so that writing makes sense to the reader. I highly recommend taking Professor Neptune!!
This is my favorite class. The creative writing exercises are really interesting and she responds to emails right away. So far as long as you do the exercises and reading it's easy. The Final Portfolio at the is a big portion of the grade, so we'll see!
NEPTUNE is an awsome teacher and is very nice. Since she is the chair of English A she knows what to teach you to help you pass the final. Take her class!!
i took and her and i don't really like English, but she was interesting enough for me to have 100% attendance in her class. She runs the Final exam and knows exactly what to teach everybody in order for them to pass it. Very informative and helpful. only beef is that she is VERY unorganized, but that is all. I would recommend her.
I took her child lit class and it was super easy and kinda fun. She is a lovely person and very flexible. Attendance definitely not mandatory. Great experience :)
Interesting and fun class. You will read the entire textbook! The information is great and you definitely grow as a writer in the class. It was online so I had little interaction besides feedback on my paper. One complaint My only complaint was she didn't regulate the type of material being presented by the students. Some was very inappropriate.
Very good professor, took the class online. Clear and helpful.
Online class. Very clear and organized. Essay to follow. Not an easy grader on essays, but she provides a lot of feedback so you can improve. responds quickly to emails.
I am currently taking her child lit class. It is extremely easy, the assignments she gives is not a lot of work and not hard either. You don't have to go to class to pass, all tests and quizzes are given through blackboard. If you go to all classes you get an extra 10% on your final. I honestly doubt you would need it since the tests are so simple.
She is a really hard grader on essays! As long as you correct what she says for the next essay it works out. However, one bad essay grade at the beginning makes you struggle to keep your grade up for the semester. Her readings were interesting just figure out her writing style and stick to it!
Great teacher of an interesting and FUN subject. Yeah, she grades pretty hard on her essays, especially when she says that your essays needs to be 3 pages long - if it's an inch away from being 3 pages, you get marked down. The work isn't hard and the books she chooses are amazing. You'll eat up both children's and adolescent lit.
I have taken both 44 and 45. 44 was much easier and fun. 45 was a lot of essays, kind of hard grader. She doesn't teach you anything. There was no point in even going to the class except if you go to every class you get 10pts EC. tests are pretty simple, the books she chooses are pretty good. overall a pretty easy class.
I took her online course and got an "A." She is not an easy grader, but she teaches how to improve your writing and gives a clear rubric to follow. My writing improved a lot. The class is well organized; she responds quickly to emails. Best online class so far!
I took Professor Neptune's online English 1B class and LOVED it! Andrea replies quickly to any questions you email her about, is a fair grader, and makes the class really fun. She gave us extended deadlines on three out of the four essays and a bunch of other assignments. TAKE HER!!
Took online, recommend it. Disc boards and quizzes easy. Not too much reading. Of course u have to write 4-5 essays. She extended dates for certain things because of holidays and storms which was cool. I didn't think she graded essays hard, and u can turn them in late for 10% off.
I don't know if I'd recommend her for online classes. The prompts aren't the clearest and she really isn't very helpful if you don't understand. She was in Spain for the semester working with the study abroad program so it's possible she just wanted some people to withdraw, but I'm not a fan.
Worst English teacher I have ever had in my life. I am extremely strong in English and have always received high grades in the subject. She is the most unfair grader if an essay is not written in her way exactly. Does not follow her own rubric and claims it doesn't meet the requirements when it actually does. Horrible teacher.
I took Eng 1B online with her and LOVED it! Only four essays with weekly discussion posts/quizzes, no final. She let the class pick the novel that we all wrote our last essay on. I really saw my writing improve in her class and it was a breeze for me. Quizzes have some trick questions but I got A's on everything else so it was perfectly fine
Best class I have taken. We did online discussions almost every class which were generally based on the reading. She gives adequate time to complete essays, there are 3 small ones and then the final is a 7-10 page research paper. She was always approachable and willing to help. I definitely recommend her.
Professor Neptune was a sweet lady, but not a very good teacher. She was very confusing with what she wanted in our essays. Attendence is a must because she does a lot of discussions on canvas for those in class, and those points add up!
I took this class due to it falling into one of the general ed categories. It was by far my least favorite class at Sierra. Professor Neptune is unfortunately very unorganized, assigns a ridiculous amount of elementary school type projects, and has a lack of a personality which was unfortunate. I strongly don't recommend!
Professor Neptune has a grading grid and follows it to the letter. Nothing else matters. Adhere to the grid and you can score an A.
Organized online class. Responds to questions quickly. Clear grading criteria. Fair grader. I got an A. Would definitely take her again!
I took prof Neptune for 1A and 1B online, so I never met her. But her assignments are explained and she uses a rubric that tells you exactly what your graded on for each essay . She also puts comments on each paper telling you how to improve your writing for the next paper.
I took Neptune's Humanities class in Italy, and it was my favorite class! The book we read was boring, but the lectures, videos and field trips made it interesting. We would ask her questions about something and the next class she prepared slides on it to teach us. I'd definitely take her again!
Neptune is great! Easy online class, just do the easy work and you'll get an A!
She was a great teacher very helpful. Lots of reading and writing but hey it's an English class
Although she is a wonderful and helpful professor, I did not enjoy her class. Students pretty much have to make an insanely huge effort to get the least amount of help. She gives rubrics, but isn't really clear at what she expects from her students when it comes to the papers. Get ready to read and write!
If you're looking to learn how to write a proper essay and do well at it, this is not the class for you. She expects you to already know what you're supposed to do by the first day with quizzes and essays due within the first two weeks with minimal guidance and help. If you do ask for help, she'll tell you to look elsewhere for it.
I really enjoyed this class. She gives good feedback and is always there if you need help and responds quickly to emails. The class is fun and if you show up, the projects are easy and straightforward. Highly recommend.
I took her summer online English 1A class. You will write 4 essays of various lengths on various topics and one research paper. She is not very specific in what she wants for each essay and grades fairly well, although the research paper in the end is set up very well. It is not a hard class, but is easy to fail if you don't do the DBs or essays.
I took 1A & 1B online with her. There are four papers in each class. She explains each assignment clearly and is a tough grader, but doesn't give a lot of feedback for her 1A students. Got a ton of feedback in 1B. She offers lots of extra credit. You read a novel in 1B. Lots of DBs and a quiz every week. AMAZING English teacher, would take again!
Just finished online 1B with Neptune. Lots of reading and writing, but as expected for advanced comp. She replies to emails right away. Class is organized. Lengthy feedback on essays. You must have the book as she refers to it often for reading lit and teaching about writing/MLA. Online format has challenges, but I'd take her again.
Took 1A online last summer. It's a fast-paced course as expected with the first assignment given week one. It's helpful if you have essay writing background as there it no time for review. Fun research project.
Professor Neptune is NOT HELPFUL. She will continuously refer you to your book or links but refuses to actually help guide you and fix mistakes, ESPECIALLY with MLA and citing sources. Her lack of help is very frustrating. STAY AWAY!!!
In high school when I turned in a paper I got an automatic A. This is not the case in Neptune's class. She makes you work for it. But I learned more about writing than in high school. She replies right away to messages, even on the weekend. And she tells you exactly where in the book you can find the MLA example needed. I'm taking her for 1B
Online class is well organized. There's four essays on profiling, argument, short story, and a research paper on national parks or historic monuments. Essay Assignment has rubrics, which she uses to grade. You use MLA on three of the papers. She messages the class often.
Professor Neptune was great. She kept everything very organized which was so helpful for an online class. She gives great feedback and is very clear from the beginning about her expectations. Best online class I've taken so far, and probably the best English teacher I've had as well.
Andrea is amazing. There are four papers throughout the semester, the weeks in between have 1 discussion board and 1 quiz on the reading which are extremely easy. She responds to emails so quickly, I emailed her on a Saturday about an essay question and she responded within 10 minutes. She welcomes any questions and gives AMAZING feedback.
Its an easy A in my opinion, she grades on weekly dissusions and quizzes they are both pretty easy I would spend about 20ish minutes one time a week and get it done with full credit. 4 essays are asked of the students and she grads on exactly what she says she will and gives a lot of worksheets about things that might be confusing to students!
Decent amount of "assigned" reading but you don't really need to do the reading to ace her quizzes, just skim the passages. She doesn't grade too hard on essays either, tells you exactly what she wants in them. Also, seems very passionate about literature. A good all around experience and an easy A.
Lectures every class and grades journals she has you write on topics discussed in class. Also minorly grades participation in her lectures. Only gives a week and a half to write each of four papers. One online quiz each week. Textbook required and one novel necessary.
You may think your doing good in the class until it's too late to do anything about it. Zero help from teacher. Just go to the writing center- that's all the help you get. The times are changing people. Beware of online classes and lazy professors.
I loved having English 1A with this professor. Her class was fairly easy but writing essays took a lot of time. Other than that, she's a good professor and was very helpful. Also, I liked the fact that you can earn extra credit at the end of the semester if you have perfect attendance because it raised my grade up!
After failing English all though high school Its obvious I am not good in this subject. I don't know any teachers that care as much as professor Neptune inside class time and checking up by emailing every week on how my assignments are going. Highly recommend, since English as a required subject you have to take it anyways so I suggest her!
I'm taking Neptune now and the online 1A class has gone well so far. Four papers. Clear assignments and grading rubric. She responds to emails quickly and answers questions. Seems nice. All work has been graded/returned within a week. Recommend!
I took her 1A summer class online and it was very organized. Every assignment was clear and if you had any questions she was always there. Nice and caring, she wants you to succeed.
Four papers, three 3-5 page papers, and one 7-10 paper. I would've rated her a 3 but she was very understanding when I need an extension date, which isn't always the case with professors. The paper prompts aren't great and it's a very easy class, didn't learn much but that's GenEd for you. Overall a good option.
Neptune was a strict grader, and this class, while not hard, was mentally taxing. I like English, but this was just tough. It was really hard to get ahold of her.
4 essays: cause and effect, argumentative, literary analysis, research. Also, a working bibliography. On Friday's, she would post modules that would be due on Thursday. 4-5 assignments a week that were graded for completion. Extra credit was given for answering simple questions. Graded fairly easy, would be given rubric. Overall, an easy class.
OMG, I love her. Funny in class, super responsive, generous essay grader, and talks to you like you have valid ideas. No tests, a few quizzes, but essays matter. Class isn't mandatory, but many assignments that she give only in class add up. Easy A if you do all the work, and you'll prob have a good time. She has cool stories.
OMG, she's the best. Took her a second semester and did just as well. She's really funny, is a gracious grader, and gives extra credit (for in-class activities). Gt class isn't mandatory, but if you want to do well then it is. Four essays, no final, small easy quizzes, easy participation points, and you will learn. Take her!
She makes learning fun! Truly amazing at her job. I personally recommend her. :)
Professor Neptune really cares about her students but this class was definitely more work than I expected. It was not super bad but she was kind of a hard grader. she is easy to contact out of class but taking this course over the summer is definitely challenging.
She is nice and has good ratings but her online classes made no sense. I found myself confused for most of the assignments. She also doesn't give full credit for discussions if your grammar is wrong which doesn't make sense because it is a discussion. Probably won't take her class again.
AMAZING!!! She is willing to work with her students outside of class, and she gives great feedback. I learned valuable information, from research to writing fluency and creating a working bibliography. She actually taught the content and made it interesting. Her online set-up is very organized and she makes it hard to miss an assignment. TAKE HER!!
Professor Neptune certainly knows how to teach an English class and is fairly hands-off with her students. I felt that her grading criteria were at times seemingly arbitrary, and though it is clear she wants her students to excel in English, it appears that she wants them to already understand the nuanced rules of writing essays.
The BEST English teacher I have ever had. Very clear grading criteria, and flexible schedule. Everything was due Monday 11:59, making it super easy to manage your schedule. Only one book needed for this course. Four big essay and discussion boards with classmates, which was super fun. Clear on feedback, that actually helps you get better! 5/5
A course outline is provided and one textbook was required GET IT. Grading criteria was very clear, even allowing late work. 1 day late was -10%, more points get docked as time goes on. Some quizzes are assigned upon reading information. Every step is given upon writing essays and great feedback. Grading was fair and good. STAY ON TOP OF HOMEWORK!
Professor Neptune was great, I don't particularly enjoy English but I do enjoy writing. For each of the 4 essays she assigned, the length was in pages, so if you were under the number of pages she required you would lose points. Weekly assignments were pretty easy to complete, she really loved accuracy on works cited pages. Overall would take again
Enjoyed taking her lit. class. We analyzed music lyrics for poetry and got to watch a campus play for extra credit. One of our classes was held outside on the grass. She has published poetry and is very passionate about the literature we read. Lots of reading, four papers, class lectures are helpful, hybrid class. Highly recommend!
There's alot of work for a 4-unit class. She follows the text closely. If you message her, she replies right back. Friendly and caring. Research paper is on any career you want, which I liked. There's rubrics explaining exactly what she's grading on, and her feedback helps you improve. I'd take her again!
I took the hybrid 1A. We had about 20 minutes or less of homework a week(when not writing essays). There were 4 essays which were ok but were on the longer side. Not the most exciting class but thats english. Personally, I thought she graded rather lightly. I was not a great essay writer in high school but in here they were great.
Professor Neptune was a great for my ENG1A course. I have never been good at writing but I managed to get a pretty good grade in this class. She doesn't assign too much homework, she gives helpful feedback and, her lectures aren't too long.
Professor Neptune is great. It's not an easy class, but it's not a hard one either. She'll definitely make you more aware of your usage of grammar, which I respect. There are 4 essays I wrote. A personal narrative, a literary analysis, an argumentative, and a final research paper. She gives you a good amount of time, but you shouldn't put them off.
This was my first college class as a high school student in the Spring of 2023, and it was great! The lectures are both informative and straight to the point. Professor Neptune grades on time and gives good detailed feedback. There are penalties for late work so time management and participation matters.
Neptune was very concise in what she wanted out of an assignment but didn't grade too toughly on technical aspects of the essays. Overall, she was understanding, at one point I turned in an essay about 30 minutes late because of bad data and it automatically marked me at a zero, she later corrected it with no points docked for late credit.
Around three major papers to write. She's extremely picky on the citations, so be sure to pay careful attention to that. Overall, easy class but would've been a breeze without all the nitpicking on the citations.
Designated peer review makes essay writing feel so much lighter, she's a very light load teacher and english 1A didn't feel unnecessarily hard!
I've taken two different courses with this professor both classes were an amazing experience. The workload wasn't heavy, and everything was layed out clearly and easy to follow along with. Overall, a really good experience, worth the credits and doesn't add too much to your already existing workload.
She is great at teaching but when you approach her she always has a "what do you want" kind of an attitude. Overall though her class is straight forward and not too stressful. Her grading isn't too strict and she gives decent feedback on essay assignments.
2 discussions a week that were easy and fun. 4 essays that are easy so long as you follow the rubric. I had some questions on my essays and meet with her on zoom often, she was very encoruging and even pointed out some flaws I did not catch and helped me fix them. Very easy grader. We also had a quiz one a week-ish but they were super easy!!
Awesome teacher. I did her hybrid class that's why I put lots of homework. She explains every detail of what she is expecting in her essays. Rubric is very clear. Gives good feedback. I will hopefully be taking her again for 1b.
I took the 8 week class for English 1-A that was hybrid, and overall the it was fine. I would say that if you are considering either going in person or online, opt for solely online instead. Her in-person lectures were quite boring and did not add much to the class overall; the coursework itself isn't too hard. Most of your grade is your essays.
Professor Neptune's ENG1A class was a manageable workload with helpful feedback. The essays were straightforward, and unstuck study proved useful for study prep. Engaging with the class structure paid off.
Takes a long time to grade essays, and provides no constructive feedback on errors. Very vague instructions and difficult to guess what she is expecting or wants. Is very specific and does things only her way.
Make sure to attend class! You're graded on in-class participation along with papers and other assignments.
She is very kind and understanding. She grades essays fast and gives good feedback, which is helpful for the following essays you will do! She also understands you missing class if you give her notice beforehand. I took this class in the fall of 2022.
harsh grader so many essays due for the class
I took English 0034 “Introduction to The Novel” with Professor Neptune, and loved it! There were six novels in total that we read in this class, and four essays that we needed to write. Professor Neptune is very kind and passionate about literature, and takes into consideration feedback given by students.Overall Professor Neptune is awesome!
Profesor Neptune taught very well! I took her English 1A course online and it was a very manageable, weekly workload. She responds quickly to emails, provides great help and feedback, too.
Professor Neptunes taught an amazing class. I took her English 1A course online and the workload each week was very manageable. She makes sure to ease into large assignments so you don't feel overwhelmed with work. Professor Neptune was great at responding, giving feedback and helping you achieve success! Great class.
