She is very nice. Not to many assignments and a lot of notes. If you study the notes you should be fine. She loves her job and that makes history bearable. I really enjoy her class, even at 8am!

She's an ok teacher, you can tell she really enjoys history. This class is all about notes. All of the exams are based on her lectures, so if you can't or don't take notes..don't take her! There arent many assignments and 1 research paper, if you study your notes for the exams you'll do ok.

She is an AWESOME teacher. She loves teaching, she makes history fun and exciting. I am not the hisory buff I am considering changing by major to history or women study because of her. Thank you Ms. Oliver for being such a wonderful and inspirational teacher. Best of luck with future classes.

Mrs. Oliver is a wonderful teacher. She is precise in her notes and the work is so easy. Although it may move a little fast just go to her review sessions and you will easily pass her midterm and final. As long as you participate in class and not sleep, study or talk you will get an "A'' in her class

I love her so much! She uses powerpoint as an outline to her discussions which makes taking notes very easy. She has a mid term and a final everything else is just portfolio assignments which she gives ample time to complete. She's funny and relates history to her students so they won't get bored. She's helpful and down to earth. Easy peasy!

This lady is....SUPERB!! Regardless of what people say...You HAVE to attend the 1st 2 weeks due to financial aide, but she is ALWAYS willing to pass a student. I really enjoy Mrs. Oliver's teaching style. If you download the notes from Blackboard you have the basics. Using those notes you MUST take your own notes on in class lecture. The downfall in her class would have to be the group project (35% of your FINAL GRADE). Most likely you will be paired with people who won't work. "That's Life!" =(

i had ms. olivera for black history. she reminded me of my 12th grade teacher, she takes no non-sense and expects a lot out of you. she is inspiring to me. we always had controversal topics in class. but the topics will open your eyes. great teacher and inspiration.

Her class is kind of boring. Its basically African American History, but she makes it sort of intersting. She is a really great teacher with good intentions. Her review is thorough, but the exam is EASY AND YOU CAN USE NOTES!

GREAT TEACHER!!! Not only is she a good teacher, but she shows a great interest in what she teaches. She puts a great effort in what she prepares for her class every day. She tries to make class a great experience and truely cares about each of her students. She's got a great sense of humor as well. If you put effort in class, she will notice.

MRs. Oliver sometimes gets a bit to carried away in her discussions but sometimes her enthusiasm for a topic can be a bit funny. After a while they become repetitive and boring though. We had a quize everyday that we met and if you are 5 or more minutes late you are marked absent b/c she uses the quizes as attendence.And the quizes are 5 min. long!

Mrs. Andrea Oliver is an awesome teacher! She wants to see of her students do well. Make sure that you attend class and are on time. It is very helpful to take notes in this class(available on blackboard) If you study your notes and write down things she put emphasis on, then you should do well on the test and quizzes.

This lady is a very intelligent lady...she will help anyone and wants all her students to past. took her amh 2091, 2010, and 2020....GOD KNOWS I WISH SHE TAUGHT MATH...lol. but take her for all your history requirements...she really GOOD!

Andrea is a great teacher, normally i think history is boring but i actually found it very interesting with her teaching, she is very funny and helpful. all you have to do to get an A is get all the notes and pay attention in class. no exessive studing nessesary.

Great teacher. Very balanced and interesting presentation. Likes the class to be involved. Has group activities. Watch many films. One or two big but easy papers. Tests right our of the lecture notes. very cool teacher.

She is okay, but she should be teaching African American History instead of plain American History, as that is her main focus for the course. I received 95's or higher on all the tests, but you do have to study. Her study guides are explicit so it's easy. 3 tests total, dont need the textbook, I would recommend her.

She is a great teacher! She does tend to focus on the African American point of view more than anything else, but she is not extremely ****. Her class is fun and interesting. There is a lot of writing, but she makes it really easy. It would be hard to fail her class!! If you put any effort into it you should get an A! Definitely recommend her!!

Dr. Oliver is a wonderful teach, especially at 8:05 in the morning. She is awake, explains everything clearly, and is a very nice lady. Gives out a study guide packet of all test questions at the beginning of the year. Really good class to take

Mrs. Oliver is a good teacher, a little of a smart alic on the slide though. you dont have to go to class at all, just find out from a classmate what the test is goig to be on and she gives you a study guide for each test and all the answers are in the book. DONT TAKE ANY NOTES! THE WHOLE CLASS IS IN THE BOOK study and youll do fine trust me!

Overall a good professor. However, she focuses heavily on African American history rather than general AMERICAN history. If you complete and study her study guides you will do well.

Mrs. Oliver is a person that lectures on a level for everyone to understand. Those of them who do bad in her class are mainly the one who don't attend! I think she is an awesome instructor who brought life to one of the most boring subjects known.I appreciate her style of teachings!

I love this class and I hate history! She is a great teacher and puts things into terms that we can understand. As long as you read with the class, then you will pass. The exams are a little tough because they are mostly essays but as long as you study the notes and read the book you will do fine.

great teacher tests are short answers one mandatory essay per test. listen and pay attention you will learn lots from her.

BEST history teacher at TCC. I've never got over a C in history and I got an A in her class! (without the book!) Her lectures are really interesting and told more like stories. Very funny, sarcastic and outspoken! I actually like going to class! Is extremely helpful and often lets you use your notes on tests (even on the final!) TAKE HER!

Good teacher but hard. I took her online and we had to read the entire book because there is no study guide. Her lectures consist of bullets and PowerPoints she uses in her live classes which are not much help. She makes up for it by giving retakes on tests and the quizes somewhat let you know what will be on the tests. Open Book & Note Final

Great teacher! She really helps you and I loved her class. Took her for Summer Express class and she was extremly helpful. Give you plenty of extra credit. I only got a B+ because I missed one part of the last assignment but great techer and very funny!

Mrs. Oliver is a very energetic woman. She is young and has plenty of power. She is very OPEN about her life and will fill you in on the details sometimes. She likes to stick to African-American details more closely than most, but you still jump around. You can get away with not having a book if you can borrow one. Lots of powerpoints, TAKE NOTES

Professor oliver is a very good teacher. It is true she was out a lot this semester but I think it was for stuff out of her control like a death in her family and then once cause her baby was sick. I don't hold that against her and the class DID get emails. It is our responsibility to check them. Anyway I had a good experience in her class learned

A wonderful teacher, and my only disdain with her is the fact that she doesn't teach Honors! I took her Afro American History class although there was no need, and she is easily the best professor at TCC. Pay attention and do what she asks of a college student, and you'll have no worries about her class being "to hard".Highly recommend her to all!

This is the best history professor i've had yet at TCC!! I hate history, but she makes it so interesting. Her love for history will make you want to become a historian!! She always has a positive attitude, and her tests are easy to follow!! I strongly recommend taking her for AMH1041....especially if history is not your thing!!!

Overall a Good professor.Some people criticize her for bringing up slavery.Not an easy class,and you will have to do a lot of research to pass tests with a high grade.Uses Essay's in every test.

She is great teacher! I hate history with a passion, yet no matter how tired I was coming to class she always keep me interested. She is a favor teacher and allowed my class to take a retake of our first unit test. I make a 52% difference. I would highly recommended her!

I took this class online and have no idea what that other student is talking about. She gave me great feedback. She had a family emergency and warned us she would be taking longer than normal to grade assignments. Wish I had taken her for AMH 2010 instead of Dr. Baglione who was absolutely USELESS! Tests are ALL open book, how can you not pass?

Wonderful teacher! I took the class online. There were 2 tests that could be done at home and then 2 tests that had to be taken in the testing center. All tests were open book. She was also very helpful when it came time for the website review. Would DEFINITELY take her again for another class.

Wonderful teacher. I have never enjoyed nor done well in a history class prior to this. She has a great personality and makes the class easy to pay attention during. Puts up very helpful study guides before each test and does everything she can for you to do well!! Would definitely take her again for another class!

She gives supprise assignments so if you miss that day you get a 0 for it. She has an essay that she gives the first week of class due at the end of the semester. Take her, she makes it fun.

She is really funny and really enjoys what she is talking about. Her tests are hard but she tells you exactly what to study on study guides. I hate history and currently have a high A and keep receiving a's on my test. take her if you will put in a little bit of effort.

Took her ONLINE course. Pretty simple class if you follow her instructions for the homework assignments & discussion board because she gives you an exact guide for an "A" on those assignments. The quizzes and tests, however, are more difficult. All the tests are open book for the online course, but even with that, it was still difficult.

I really learned a lot I took this class online but if you do the assignments and the reading that is required to pass the test you should do just fine. The only drawback was the grading was slow. I took this course online and it was pretty easy. All tests/quizzes are open book. Discussion boards and assignments are easy if you read the materials. Ms Oliver seems to be an easy going teacher from what I can tell over computer!

I have never been interested in history. Mrs. Oliver made learning history interesting. Be prepared to do A LOT of writing as the whole class time is a lecture. I found the study guides and chapter outlines VERY helpful for tests and lectures. She is a great teacher. Mrs Oliver is very clear as to what she expects of you as a student.

Great History teacher knows her stuff!She talks the whole time so don't expect to get out early. Writing assignments are easy. Test come from the study guide for the most part. Taking notes and studying you will def pass and learn a lot! Would highly recommend

Very knowledgeable professor. Gives you about 7 homework assignments, as long as you put in good detail, you'll receive an A. 5 quizzes, but as long as you read the book, they're easy. Very good teacher.

Great teacher. Its a lecture class so be prepared to take a lot of notes. I took the express session and made an A. Would take her for 1050 or snother history class in the future. She made it interesting and had jokes. She hardly ever let class out early.

I love her. She's an amazing teacher. She's funny and cracks jokes here and there to keep the class interesting. There are a lot of notes and they are important. There's only three exams and three homework assignments. Nothing is multiple choice. The first exam was hard but if you study the material then you'll be fine.

Assignments galore in this class. Service hours, assignments, tests, presentations. A lot of work but fitting coursework if you want to become a teacher. Character wise she is very loud but she does give students the chance to voice their opinions.

Dr. Oliver is a saint. She really helped me through my semester. Her lectures are really interesting and she makes them funny. Some of the material covered is very controversial. Be ready to complete intern service hours. Overall, Dr. Oliver is an extremely intelligent individual and definitely one to listen closely to.

She is the easiest a I ever gone. I made an 20 on the first exam because I didn't watch the lecture video and take notes. Her exams are hit or miss! Ten words and you have to write 2-3 about the word. Also there's essay questions like one or two worth 50 points. Made all 100 on the other exam made an 95 in the class

Dr. Oliver is an amazing professor. It was a PRIVILEGE to be in her class. She keeps it real. She teaches you what is in the book, but understands that the book does not always account for "real life" situations that a teacher may face in the classroom. Every TCC student majoring in education NEEDS to be in her class.

There are Discussion Boards, Website Assignments, and a Website Analysis paper. The 4 tests that I took were easy, but you had to work for them. She gives out study guides and they're self-explanatory. Don't listen to the other people who rated her low, they're the ones who don't like to work for their grade. Other than that, I highly recommend her

I took this class online this past summer, and I did not think it was difficult. As long as you do the required assignments and put some effort into it, and use the study guide for tests, you'll be fine. I made an A no problem.

Who knew you could combine both professionalism and humor? She was a delight the entire semester. I wish she taught other classes. I was CONSIDERING failing for I could take her over again. An obvious joke, but she's truly a gem. Show up in class, participate, study, and you'll excel in her class.

Her class was very easy. The work was very simple to do, but read the chapters she assigns and do not procrastinate on reading the chapters. You have to study hard for her tests because they somewhat challenging. There were mostly short answers and two essay questions. She provided study guides to help. She assigned one paper, but it wasn't hard.

Show up and pay attention in lecture she is detailed and makes lecture hilarious, relatable, interesting whatever it takes. The online textbook is required because all of the quizzes are found in the online book. No pop quizzes or surprises. We were given a group project to make a short 5-7min film and have a showing. Awesome fun assignment.

Great and hilarious professor and she knows what she teach. Don't skip class because you'll miss important things.. Her tests are easy if you take good notes. She assigned groups for an oral presentation, be aware for group work. Don't be afraid to talk to her, she's sweet and will help you. She knows who shows up and don't show up to class.

Dr. Oliver is really laid back but you have to be engaged in the discussions (several) to keep up. Be prepared to read the chapters in the book otherwise you will not do well on the exams and quizzes. You have to study with understanding of the material because she may throw a curve ball when its time for the exam. Only had 3 exams and 4 quizzes.

Best history teacher I've ever had! She made me want to learn more about America's history and I've never been interested in history. Attendance is important because she takes role, but she does not post full lectures because she is a verbal teacher. If you miss class, her power points on canvas will not make sense to you! I LOVED Professor OLIVER! At first I was a bit skeptical because history isn't my thing. But learning about African American history and the way the lectures went, I was so intrigued which made me successful throughout the entire semester. Just make sure to do all your work, turn stuff in on time, and stay consistent and you will indeed get an A.

Shes a great teacher you got to read the chapters or youll be confused in the homework she gives. She responds back at a timely manner. The paper she gives stg he end of the course really counts for your grade, overall shes very nice Id take her class it was easy

One time, I did an assignment wrong because I missed the first set of directions, so I emailed Professor Oliver that I did not know what the assignment was talking about, and she told me exactly what I needed to do, where to find the original directions, and let me redo it instead of leaving me in a hole for me to dig out off and come out lost.

I took her online and I expected the class to be thought but its easy as long as you keep up with the assignments. There were mainly discussion boards, then a few quizzes, web based assignments, one essay, and a few test. The test were actually not to bad as the study guide she gave had everything on the test and the essay questions so it was easy

I took Professor Oliver in the Fall of 2021 via zoom. Her knowledge of American History was astounding. Her lectures were always enjoyable. She was very vibrant and kept my attention. We did have a podcast to complete at the end of the semester in which you chose what you wanted to speak on from the text. Not a bad class! She's very understanding!

Professor Oliver is a pretty good teacher. She lectures almost every class, but makes it somewhat enjoyable. She is also pretty funny. She doesn't respond to emails or Canvas messages very often. She gave one essay assignment with very few details. All tests and quizzes are online, and she lets you know when you have in-class quizzes.

She made this class interesting and was clearly passionate about the topic. I enjoyed the assignments and the exams weren't hard. No honorlock but there are a couple written assignments. She requires a blog but it was cool. Overall fairly straightforward and easy class. I only got a B because I missed a couple assignments.

Lots of reading quizzes but they're all due on the same day in the span of 3 weeks so the stretch between being due is a great balance for other classes, the material is easy to learn and the tests are the same material from quizzes. She loves what she teaches and shows it, would HIGHLY recommend for 1st time online students!!

Dr. Oliver is amazing. She is very understanding and cares about her students. Her lectures were very interesting and she made going to class very enjoyable. If you need to take AMH2020 I highly recommend her as a teacher! History isn't my favorite subject but I enjoyed her class.

Prof Oliver obviously loves what she does and cares about all of her students but I don't feel like I really learned anything throughout the year, unit tests covered a very large portion of the textbook (like 200+ pages) but the questions were random and very specific.

Professor Oliver makes history engaging. Lectures are clear, and she's understanding. Quizzes and exams can be tricky, but using resources like Unstuckstudy helped me prep effectively.

Professor Oliver was a great Professor. While things may have been a little disorganized at first in terms of what to expect from the syllabus, Professor Oliver showed great enthusiasm in her lectures. On the days that we did have class, they were fun. Homework is rigorous but possible, and the tests were each closed note with the final being open.

Select her as your professor! Was good at teaching material, and you can tell she's passionate about the class. Assignments were straightforward, quizzes were based on the textbook.
