What a woman! Sister Radke is a very passionate teacher that knows her history! She brings in cultural materials such as movie and T.V. clips that really help illustrate points. Great teacher!
She is one of the best things that happened to the History department.
She is an amazing teacher. She makes the class really interesting and it's honestly not even difficult
Well worth taking this class. Radke is an awesome teacher with vast knowledge in women’s studies. Class readings and discussion were productive and opened my mind to new things. I would recommend this class to anyone.
One of the greatest teachers that I have ever had. She is so energetic and has alot of knowledge about the topics being studied and is very personable to students. One of the best additions to the history department ever!
She was an awesome teacher, always had interesting stories to tell and things to teach us. She really brought "history to life."
Lectures all class period, every class period, except for occasional video clips. I suggest bringing homework from another class. There are many assignments and quizzes, but all are open book. Final and Midterm are hard!
GREAT teacher. She is young, funny, and knows a lot about what she is teaching. I've never enjoyed history, but her class was awesome. She gave very helpful review sheets and study sessions before tests.
Awesome, young funny and smart. Radke Rocks as a history professor. Take her class
What do you say about one of your top picks for a history course? I kept the books and wish I could take it again...Content,material,dialogue(especially with the Mormon history) all were right on and without question appropriate. In every way it was one of those rare surprises. Indust. Age, Who knew? I have to admit, Sist. Radke knows how to teach.
Sister Radke-Moss is totally awesome. you can't expect to pass without doing your work, but she's fairly lienient on grading (papers, etc.). She really loves the time period (U.S. Industrial Age), and it shows...especially about the Chicago World's Fair ;) . Very willing to help in extenuating circumstances.
She is a very good teacher that really wants to help the students learn to write better. She knows her stuff. She expects a lot of you throughout the semester in preparation for the paper due at the end of the semester but when the end comes you will appreciate it. I highly recommend this teacher to anyone that wants to learn a lot and have fun.
Passionate teacher. No wasted time on tangents. Tests= diffcult. Quizes open book, but answers tricky 2 find and book takes 2 much time to read. I recommend reading the book though. Do Doc. Assigs. ahead of time since they don't teach you information that is on the test. Don't come with printed notes. Review quiz answers 4 test. Radke has good aid.
Great teacher (one of my very favorites). She is very knowledgeable in her field and is always willing to help. I reallly enjoyed the class
It might seem a bit much at first but it was the best teaching from start to finish I have ever had for writing and I have writeen a lot of papers before now. She gave us steps all the way intead of letting us drown at the end like the other person that teaches it.

Literally the best teacher i have ever had!
Great teacher! Professor Radke-Moss knows a lot about history, she is always mentioning little random facts relating to what we are studying. Attendance is mandatory because a lot of the information you need to know for the tests is said in lectures. Tests are pretty difficult, so study hard! Take lots of notes with this teacher!
Sis Moss is aewsome. She defenetly has her opinions and has the stuff to back them up. She is willing to help whenever possible. Industrial Age was a great class, and she has great passion for the subject. I would take this class again and again.
I didn't think I would be interested in the Industrial Age, but I was pleasantly surprised. Professor is very knowledgable about subject matter and makes the time period interesting. Class isn't too difficult if you read the assigned documents before the quizzes. Professor is willing to answer questions and provide clarification. Great teacher!
She is an amazing teacher, I learned so much from her class and actually looked forward to going! She's very funny and witty and breaks up the monotony of a classroom by being fun! I wish her class was three hours long five days a week!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Sister. Radke-Moss! I sat in the front row everyday in her class, and didn't regret it! She is awesome...she is definitely difficult, but you will learn so much. She had me cracking up everyday in class. She is young, pretty, and has a great sense of humor! Take from her and you won't regret it!
She keeps the class rolling with her dry wit and her extensive knowledge of history. Shes coherent and easy to follow. Wished her class was a little longer. She does expect excellence from her students in attendance and has no late work exceptions.
Awesome teacher--she is probably the best teacher I have taken. Her class is not the easiest, but is well worth the effort. She is amazing!
The best! Totally Rad! Makes you think!
I was smothered and suffocated from the power points. They hindered class participation. And when certain students would comment on something, she would make personal attacks and counter with sarcasm. The other problem that I had was the document assignments. I could have written what the book said verbatim, and still received less credit.
Very feminist. very sarcastic. very intelligent she knows her stuff. i learned a lot but toward the end I felt like my opinion my view on things was wrong and hers and hers only was right. Didn't feel like she taught with the church in mind but more from a worldly perspective rather then spiritual. Alright class nothing wow.
Attention: All males need to be wary of this teacher. She knows her stuff, but when your views conflict with hers; she will attack your position and if this doesn't work, she will attack you. Hated all of the power points and her "witty" comments were biased and skewed.Document assignments are hard!My friends. Proceed with extreme caution!
Sister Radke-Moss is an amazing instructor! She is not a feminist like others say, she is a genuine person who is very underestimated. She is very knowledgable, and I enjoy her lectures. If you do the reading, and get involved, you will do well. Do the work, and get it in on time. It's that simple.
Dr. Radke Moss is an excellent teacher she really takes her job of preparing future teacher seriously and the results show her dedication.
Sister Moss is a great teacher. She really knows what she is talking about and very knowledgable on her subject. The tests are kind of hard though...
I graduated in 06'and I consider Dr. Radke-Moss one of the best professors on campus. I was reading through these posts and feel some clarification is needed. If you want a fantastic and knowledgeable professor take her class. If you are intimidated by women who are sure of themselves and have opinions take it anyways b/c you need education. Male
I really liked her. She was funny and she made the class interesting. I never got bord in her class. The class was a little difficult, but not too hard. Make sure you do all the assignments (They aren't too hard), and study for the tests.
This professor is awful!!!!! If you have any conservative values at all DO NOT TAKE HER because she wont even give you the respect of having your own opinion. If you want a professor that is open to all ideas and willing to teach you from all sides...DONT TAKE HER.
She is funny, knows what she teaches and talks a lot during lectures, but her tests are incredibly HARD! She likes to throw you off on every test. Don't take her class unless you plan spending your entire semester studying for this class alone.
She is a really awesome professor. She makes the topic interesting because she is funny and smart. Some other person wrote that she is not conservative. I think that she is very conservative. She just looks at the whole history of events instead of with just a political bias. That is what makes her a good teacher.
Sister Radke-Moss's class was one of the highlights of my semester. The material can be difficult, but she is incredibly brilliant, funny, and also no-BS. It was incredibly nice to be in a class taught by a feminist, that's not a perspective you often get around here. Keep an open mind, you won't regret having this professor.
it is a lot of work but he is really intelligent in the field and made the course exciting. had to work for the grade but it was worth it
She is a fair grader. Tests are open book, but are limited time. Turning in your book with all the questions in it is optional but is worth extra credit. That being said, she emphasis a ton on being moderate, and she doesn't come across as 10th ammendment friedly.
I want to make it clear that Sister Radke-Moss is likely to be one of the most talented and passionate professors you will have the opportunity to learn from. It's obvious she loves to teach and as a direct result is very good at what she does. I have never sat in a class with so much discussion and positive participation. I wholeheartedly recomend
Prof Moss’s class is what I expected a college class to be like. It was very challenging but she knows her stuff. This was one of the highlights of my semester. If you want to learn a lot, take this class from Prof Moss, but don’t plan on getting an A unless you spend a large amount of time studying for her tests. Do extra credit when it is offered
She was willing to talk to you whenever you needed help. Just ask. Tests were open textbook and really easy. She also kept me awake and keeps the conversation going. Really funny!
Sister Moss is way cool. She is very clear when it comes to being in class and when you're listening to her lectures you feel as if you completely understand what she is teaching however, when it comes to her tests they absolutely suck. If you take this class make sure you study at least 3 hours a night if you at least want a B.
She is very passionate for what she teaches and can answer almost any history question you have. She gives movies and (long) readings for homework then discusses them in class as you take notes. Not my favorite teaching style.
I absolutely LOVED this class. Do the readings, pay attention to & take notes during the lectures & you'll do great!!(yes, even if history isn't exactly your strong suit)
Probably one of the best teachers I have had at BYUI. She is incredibly knowledgeable. She isn't a cookie cutter mormon and i found that super refreshing. She leads great discussions and you are allowed to voice your opinion which can make classes a lot more fun. Wasn't crazy about the textbook but it was still good. She is an amazing teacher.
Never had such a boring class. There are assigned readings prior to every class which average to about 25 pages long on Microsoft (12 point font). She reads powerpoints as her lectures and the tests are HARD. Don't plan on an A. I'm suprised she has any good reviews on here at all. Seriously homework and class lectures are so dry and BORING! Awful.
She is a wonderful teacher.
This class is so boring. The assigned readings are very long and hard to get through. The tests are ridiculously hard, even though you are allowed a page of notes. Sister Radke-Moss is a fabulous lady, but her class isn't that great. It's a struggle to stay awake. Be prepared to study like crazy and don't expect an A.
Sister Radke-Moss knows her facts. You ask her a question and she tells you straight. But she is a hard teacher with tests that were extremely difficult. And she goes off of powerpoints each class. She also likes to pick sensitive subjects to debate which I strongly disliked. I do not recommend her. Choose a different teacher.
I love history, so I assumed I would like this class. She did not give a study guide for tests. A ton of reading for homework, and pretty boring. Hard work required. Not an easy A.
Pretty interesting ideas and a fun class environment.
Sister Radke-Moss creates some tough tests--I got really discouraged. It's a lot of reading--not out of a textbook but off of her website. Attendance can kill your grade if you miss over 2 classes. She never checks email which was frustrating. We often end up behind then she rushes through other topics which gets stressful. She's knowledgable.
Sister Radke-Moss knows her history. She is very well educated and you will see that by taking her class. All tests were online which made it very convenient but they were INCREDIBLY hard. I've never felt so behind in my life. Great teacher but hard work. Take only if you have a light class schedule.
This class was the worst class ever. The tests were tough, she talked too fast, and sometimes her sarcasm is annoying. Save your self.
The class only has a few test but at the end there was a 10 page paper. The lectures are good and she puts her power points on ilearn. The class required that you watched a lot of documentaries and take quizzes that go along with the subject you are lecturing about. You also have regular reading and quizzes to go along with the reading.
If you take class from Dr. Radke-Moss you will learn a lot. I think she is one of the best history professors at BYU-Idaho.
This is my favorite subject in the world, but I just was disappointed by Professor Radke-Moss. She is really knowledgable and passionate which is awesome, but her class itself is boring and difficult. She believes in a lot of "keep-you-on-your-toes" work, aka busy work. Her tests are impossible. She doesn't really show she cares about you.
I think Professor Radke Moss is awesome! She is really nice and although the lecture is two hours you definitely get a lot out of the class if you listen. She talks a lot but also lets you talk so don't be scared from other's reviews it's not just her talking the entire time. The tests are hard, but just make sure to study. She is not boring at all
Radke-Moss was one of my favorite professors I have had. This class was always very interesting to me and I enjoyed going each day. There are a lot of videos/documentaries so be ready to spend a few hours on that every week. The tests require you to study hard, but all the information is given. I highly recommend taking this class from her.
She is absolutely excellent. She is very knowledgeable and cares a lot about her subject. She gives a lot of documentaries to watch as home work and there are weekly text book quizzes, they are very helpful and interesting and they do not feel like busy work. She is by far my favorite professor, she is funny and relatable.
Professor Radke-Moss is a really enthusiastic teacher and she takes everyone's opinion into consideration. She is also really funny, so most days, the lectures are really good. She puts her own voice into American history so it is more enjoyable. The classes are nearly always all lecture, but she shows some cool videos to make up for it.
She is the best professor I've had so far! Lectures are hilarious and the things we learn are so important. Tests are pretty easy and you get a full page of notes.
Professor Radke-Moss was pretty good, but oh my goodness--SO MANY DOCUMENTARIES! Seriously, prepare to devote 4-5 hours per week to documentaries, if not more. In addition to that, there are textbook and documents quizzes. Her lectures are pretty good, make sure to take good notes. Tests are hard.
Absolutely Terrible NEVER TAKE HER CLASS, she was intensely liberal to the ignorance of much of history. The first day of class she told the class how terrible the US was based on things happening before the area of study. She was hypocritical and wouldlecturetheclass on inclusion of opinion while hating intently on any opinion differing from hers
Really interesting class. You will learn a lot & enjoy it if you apply yourself & do the assignments due each class. You usually have a read a considerable amount & then answer a prompt ab it. Lots of group work - be an active group member. She lets the class vote on how the grades are weighted. She is way funny and we had awesome class discussions
Sister Radkemoss is a great teacher, but she definitely makes you work hard for your grade. Her classes are fun and I enjoyed listening to them, although the work is difficult. It is a good class but it is also a hard class.
Very strong one sided liberal teacher. Sometimes she says things that are leaning towards anti mormon statements.
Sister Radke-Moss is an interesting professor to say the least. She is spunky and passionate about what she believes, but there in lies the problem. She teaches what she believes and not history based on the facts and books, like I was expecting. If you take this class, be prepared for a liberal, one sided view of the world.
Is not a happy Mormon makes rude remarks about Mormons. You have 2 quizzes a week you easily will spend 8 hours because on top of that you will have movies to watch over the weekend and you read 3 books that you will be tested for 2 hours for 100 questions. 3 test 100 questions as well its will be over quiz that you take but also random things.
Shes not as bad as some reviews say, but the course load is pretty ridiculous, and she really doesnt seem to care about any students. Definitely a bit of a one-sided view of history.
Youll have loads of homework due every MWF, and youll end up watching over 20 documentaries. Difficult tests, with little help from her. Ill be lucky to get an A-, I doubt anyone got an A. I learned a lot about this era of history though.
I love a good liberal in a Mormon school. So amazing and gives you a interesting view on history! Hard class but if you love history youll love it! So well educated.
I really loved taking this class from her. Not sure where all the negative reviews are from, but I really felt a connection with this teacher. She really made me fall in love with History again and I ended up changing my major to History Ed because of her. She's really organized and you can easily get things done if you genuinely like history.
She is a great teacher, but the class is mostly evolved around group work. If you love group, this is the class for you but if you don't good luck. There is a lot of reading and the homework assignments are very tedious. There is a lot of work involved with this class. So, if you are going to take this class be prepared!
I really liked Sister Radke-Moss's classes. She always gave good lectures and I learned a lot but I never felt like I was overwhelmed by her expectations. She is super nice and really cares about her students. She does take a long time to grade things but her class is set up well.
She was my favorite professor last semester hands down. The class itself is group oriented and even as someone that hates group work I loved it. You definitely have to read a lot and there is quite a bit of homework, I never felt overwhelmed and she is really easy to work with. She makes class discussions interesting by engaging the whole class.
Sister Radke-Moss is great. If you are going to take a class that she teaches, take it from her. She's very caring, very level-headed, and very competent in what she teaches. In Freedom and Civil Society, you will do a lot of group projects, but it's all in class, so no homework, and no out of class meeting with your group. She's just great though.
Radke-Moss is a wonderful teacher. She really takes time to listen and understand the many different perspectives of her students. She is willing to work with you or cover any concerns you might have and is always respectful. She has a great passion for civil society which shows through her enthusiasm and humility throughout class. Great class!
She puts the whole class on the TA's shoulders
Sister Radke-Moss is a good teacher. She really takes time understand different perspectives. She is very good about when assignments are due and announcements. You can tell she is very educated on civil society and the different philosophies. A lot of the work is on the TA but Sister Radke-Moss is willing to help and work with her students.
Sis Radke-Moss is phenomenal. I love going to class everyday to talk about material. That being said, there is a lot of reading you can't get away with not doing, there's an in depth reading quiz before class almost everyday. But it's so worth it because you learn a lot! She also does a really good job at appreciating the nuances of history. Great!
she is a good person. but if you are expecting to get any clarity or communication about grades, do not expect that from her. she is so scatter brained and unorganized... she's not very good with technology so there are so many mistakes on quizzes and assignments. Her quiz questions are opinion based, and debateable... it's just frustrating!
Her lectures are great, but there's literally sooo much work! She has her exams in 3 parts!!! Who does that?!??!? Documentary watching and quizzes like twice a week and the same with textbook quizzes. I felt like I was going to have a brain aneurysm from being overworked for just one class. I felt like I learn a lot but at the same time, don't.
Amazing teacher! She is very knowledgeable and makes lectures interesting. It is really clear that she cares about your success. There is a lot of reading, but enough time to get it done without cramming or stress. We got to choose our own grade weights as a class and did a lot of group work. 10/10 recommend this class to everyone.
Sister Radke-Moss was an amazing teacher to have. Even though I took this class for fun, she didn't discriminate against that. She is so very nice to all her students and caring to make sure you are understanding the content. If you are taking a history class that she teaches, take Prof. Radke-Moss!!
Sister Moss is a legend. First off, she decided to cancel the final exam because this semester has been rough because of COVID. She allowed us to make up any quizzes we missed from any time in the semester. She isn't an easy A but she is very compassionate and wants you to succeed. She isn't afraid to honestly address hard topics like slavery.
I love Sister Radke-Moss. She is so caring about her students while also having high expectations. She is willing to help students and always answers questions to clear things up. I have nothing bad to say about her. She sees everyone's potential for greatness.
Honestly one of my favorite classes and professors. She is incredibly knowledgeable and fun. She is great at taking complex information and making it understandable and interesting. She cares about her students. She understands that we have a life outside of her class, so while there is a fair amount of work, most of it is done during class.
Prof. Radke-Moss is an amazing teacher. She is so understanding of personal circumstances and will give you more time on quizzes/group projects if needed. She is really conventional with her group assignments in making sure you learn. Your "final" is a group project (i.e., un-essay) about Reconstruction.
Professor Radke-Moss is an amazing professor! She is really great at teaching, knows what she is talking about, and is really flexible with assignments. There is a lot of homework, but it isn't very difficult and makes it so your whole grade isn't resting just on your exams.
She is amazing and so funny! You will have group work for document quizzes and for your final project! Her test are open book but very specific. Get ready to watch a lot of documentaries (sometimes up to 3 a week and up to 2 hours each one). She is so caring and is so funny! I 100% recommend her but dont expect to get a good grade if you slack off.
She is an amazing teacher who inspired you to try you're hardest. She's more than willing to work with you. She is serious about her assignments but is good at motivating and helping you to understand what you're working on. 10/10 best professor!
She was a good teacher. Lectures can drag on and get sort of boring but it was never awful. The class itself isn't the most entertaining so I wouldn't put it on the professor. She is caring and puts forth genuine effort to help students.
She is awesome, through and through. In this class we did a little reading and a lot of documentary watching. That along with awesome primary sources made me feel easily prepared for every test. I feel that I learned a lot more from her than other teachers. Plus, she's super funny and down to earth, she's down for getting lunch w you to help you.
I did not have a good experience in her class. The way she lectures makes history hard to understand and she did not go in-depth. There was no class participation. I got bad grades on the tests even though I would study for hours and bring in notes. She curved the tests though since a lot of us struggled. Tons of reading and a big group project.
She is passionate about history and you can see that in her lessons and lectures. Her slideshows and lectures have nothing to do about what is on the test and she said that in class. Although if you do the reading you will do well on the exams. The lectures mostly seem pointless and attendance is required.
I loved this class! There is a weekly group project on the reading and there is a lot of reading each week but you are usually good to skim as long as you pay attention during class and participate in the team documents. You're allowed 1 page of notes front and back on tests. The exam reviews are super helpful and if you go to those you'll do good.
Sister Radke-Moss is a good professor, be ready to do a reading assignment before every class, watch a couple of documentaries a week, and be ready for a semester-long group project.
Really good professor will help you understand. Go to the test studies because without it, it is not clear what will be on the test. Be cautious when emailing her, she may not respond, might try to email TA. Hardcourse but she will ensure you will get help if you seek it.
Sister Radke-Moss is the hardest professor I've ever taken. Her class was harder than my 4-6 credit classes. I originally was very excited for this subject, but ended up dreading every moment of class. The expectations for students are way too high, the tests too much for a 3 credit class, and the reading is literally never ending.
Professor Radke-Moss is the best professor I have ever had. She is always willing to take the time to answer questions and have discussions. She cares deeply about all her students. It is impossible to tell her political affiliation based on her teaching. I greatly look forward to taking other classes from this professor. Love her.
I loved this class! The readings are a lot, but doable the night before, and so are the documentaries. She is passionate about history and knows a lot about the subjects that she was teaching. Go to the study sessions, they will tell you exactly what's on the test, and it will save you. And the group project at the end wasn't bad at all.
There was a lot of reading, but for the most part the schedule was consistent. Group quizzes are open book but can be hard. Lectures can be boring, but make sure you take notes during her lectures because things she says can be on the tests. You do get a whole page one side of notes for the tests which was super helpful.
I literally love Andrea, the exams are fairly easy if you pay attention in class. There are lots of team quizzes that everyone should contribute to, so you could get screwed over in that area. Just read the textbook and go to class. Her lectures are easy to follow and I could easily take notes. 10/10 would take again.
She does a variety of types of assignments so you won't get bored. She does a lot of group work though so if you do not like that do not take her class. Her exams are a mix of test types which is nice and there is a lot of reading but that is to be expected since it is history. There is no final in this class which is so nice!
I had a troubling experience in a class where the educator showed a video with nudity which made me uncomfortable when I addressed my concerns teacher reacted by yelling at me and encouraging me to drop her class when I tried to resolve the issue she sent me to her supervisor who encouraged me to keep the class after the meeting she threatened me
Sister Moss really knows her stuff about history, the class can have a decent amount work and if you fall behind you'll have a lot to catch up on. You do group assignments every week, and have 4 tests per semester where you can use a page of notes. Overall the class is straightforward, but also can be a lot at points.
I have taken two classes from this professor. There tends to be a lot of reading, and the quizzes are more like mini exams. Often have to watch over an hour long documentary weekly and take a quiz. The documents quizzes also only have two hours to do them.
Professor Radke-Moss knows her stuff! She is pretty test heavy but as long as you do the reading and take notes, you'll do fine. She allows notes for exams, and she dropped three of the lowest quiz scores which was nice. She's a fair grader. The history did feel a little politicized to me at times but overall, I had a good experience in the class.
She genuinely wants her students to succeed and overall makes her class approachable. Group work is a common element, and reading and films are abundant. Attendance is mandatory, but the class is engaging. Grading for group work is fair, as no credit is given to a member who doesn't show up!
This class requires a lot of reading, but the professor makes the material engaging. Attend the study sessions and use Unstuck ai for test prep - it really helped me grasp the concepts. Expect group work, but the professor is helpful if you seek guidance.
A lot of political commentary in class. There's also a ton of group work. Her lectures are useless. You wont learn much from them that you didn't read form the textbook. It's easy to pass the class, you get to take an entire page of notes to exams. She's nice, when she isn't bashing current political leaders and the students that support them.
LOTS of reading if you want to understand the material and pass, you have to attend class but nothing she talks about is important if you already read the chapter, take good notes, very kind and caring, easy to work with and accommodating, find common ground and be her friend and class will be easy, READ and you'll pass with flying colors
I had Sister Radke-Moss last fall. She was a phenomenal professor. Her lectures were engaging just be prepared to take lots of notes! This class also has a lot of group work. Contrary to what other reviews say she is definitely very approachable and humorous. I've known her for quite a while and she would never display hostility. She really cares!
