She is the most annoying and boring teacher...the stories she makes you read are horrible and uninteresting.There is no point in attending class; unfortunately, she always takes attendance.Although, her tests are easy; and she doesn't give much homework.
One of the most annoying and unclear teachers I've ever had. She stutters and stumbles over her words constantly, and says "umm" at least 3 times in just about every sentence. However, she graded rather easy so that was a plus.

She is not good at explaining what she wants with the essays she assigns. Her essay topics are very vague and unclear.
She lacks confidence; as long as you sound like you know what you're talking about she'll agree with you; she assigns very little homework; you can argue your way into anything you want, i argued my way into the class after she told everyone else no

this teacher has no confidence, no control over her class, and gives unclear essay topic assignments.
She has no idea how to explain the point that she is trying to get across. Is often confused by...everything. Fairly easy but SO SO boring, especially at 8am. Grades easy, she only reads like the first page and half of essays so it is easy to BS the topic.
Very unclear, But a very easy grader. She gives the easiest essay topics. Hates people who talk and are later to her class. If you do all the work and do not disturb the class, EASY A!

Rosenwein seems to have difficulty speaking to the class. She doesn't pay attention to what she's talking about and makes mistakes much of the time and you end up not caring what she says. I also don't appreciate not getting credit for vocabulary exams just because of getting over 2 answers wrong.

she is a very easy teacher but she is soooooo boring!!!!! the woman can babble about her whole life and still not shut up!!! if you want an easy A take her and if u want listen to her nonsense take her but only take if you can sit throught a 3 hour class cuz i am taking her for 3 hours and oh man!!!

Pierce students will never be satisfied. Just take the class. English itself is not a difficult subject. She's good to go. I personally did not have any probems with her.

she doesnt kno how to teach~ she is a very lazy teacher. she doesnt have her own ways of teaching. she follows the book exactly what it says. like the other said she doesnt kno how to grade papers. she likes to pick on students -_-;
she is not a good teacher. She was mean, and boring, and confusing. She has weekly spelling tests, and reports due every so often. She was horrible. Dont take her if possible. If you must, ok its not that bad, but only if its a must.

horrible teacher. avoid taking this class if possible. easy vocab quizzes each week easy to cheat on got an a on every one got b's on all essays and ended up with a c. shes really weird, grades pretty hard on essays, takes attendance every day and treats us like we are still in high school, class wouldnt have been so bad if she werent teacher.
OMG she is a really bad teacher! She doesn't give clear directions, and waves her hands in karate chop motions when explaining ideas. very unorganized...and quizes are difficult. Unfortunately my situation is a must, so I must suffer for a semester. :(** ** *O
she is a really easy and goofy teacher. sometimes she makes no sense but the work is self explainitory. very easy grader. taking this class is like being in high school.
By far, the WORST teacher I've taken at Pierce. Take this class if you want to return to middle school and if you desire to learn absolutely NOTHING.
completely intollerable teacher. if you have psychotic death wish and like inflicting pain on yourself, then this class IS FOR YOU! she doesn't know how to articulate. she sounds like a first grader attempting at words.
she IS a wonderful teacher. she tries her best, and succeeds to teach students. She does sometimes get off topic, but it only helps you understand the topic better. Andrea lacked structure and was pretty incoherent for the most part. "succeeds to teach students" is overkill and compensation for her atrociousness is futile! Because Pierce wants to capitalize on the student populous, you take 28 before 101. To avoid this teacher as a last resort go to moorpark where they put you immediately to 101
It's evident from day one that I made a horrific mistake in attempting to add this class. Last resort are last resorts but apparently there are exceptions. Her lectures, as well as assignments, were incogrous. Very cryptic on grading essays. Save your brain cells. Pierce simply wants your money and time before they send you to 101.
I hate this professor. She is absolutely dumb and weird. She hated me for no reason and made it hard to continue taking the class...yes i had to drop...but i am glad i did...Don't take her!!!not even as a last resort!
Great Professor. Picks on students but only to help them get over their fears or weaknesses. She really cares about the academic future of her students and tries hard to prepare them for 101.
Dont take this teacher!!!!! I didnt learn anything, she's weird. She likes picking on people especially if she doesnt like you. If your late she'll yell at you in front of everyone. I don't recommend you take this teacher
man this class during summer was boring. it was a good class to catch up on sleep i guess. overally pretty easy i recieved a B
She does seem to stumble over her words a lot and say, "um" all the time. She seems a bit confused. She does not like people talking in class and wants attention and participation. She takes roll every day. (People, this is college, show up to class.)She seems like a nice lady though.
This teacher is absolutly amazing. Don't listen to all the negative comments. She is very sweet and helpful. She truley prepares you for english 101. I would take hr again if i could.
I felt like I was in middle school. Very rude towards students which is very unprofessional for a college teacher. Overall easy class just be on time and stay quiet or you'll be her punching bag.

She wont help you if you've missed a class. She embarrases you constantly no matter who you are. She really discourages studeants from participating in class. Bad teacher do not take her.
I din't know what to expect after reading these crazy comments,however, I felt the teacher was very passionate about her work and English. She made the class fun and interesting. If you read between the lines of some of these comments made about the teacher, you will see some lazy unmotivated students.
I actually had fun learning thanks to the prof. She taught with enthusiasm and interest. People who complain about her are only students whose minds are preoccupied with other unimportant issues. Just pay attention & do what you're asked.
She's really nice, she does pick favorites in the class and kinda pick on those who don't pay attention though. There wasn't to much HW... we had a quiz every week pretty much and probably like 5 essays. It was pretty easy stuff though I ended up with an A.
Horrible Professor,If you can even call her that.Shes Extremely Rude! She seems to have the mindset that shes teaching middle school children. Honestly she can be a pathetic bully sometimes.
Her class was pretty easy, nothing too difficult. The only difficult thing about this class was her! She always seemed so flustered, and it takes her forever to get her point across. She also doesn't really explain things well.
I am not sure why Ms. Rosenwein reviews are not Awesomely Great! I was very intimidated by english because I have never been good at it. I have learned so much in her class, she makes learning english fun, she tells jokes, and she is a very intellectual women. Test are easy, not much reading, and if you study, and come to class you should pass.
She is not a good professor. English 28 is supposed to be like training wheels for English 101 you can still ride a bike but you just aren''y 100 confident to remove the wheels yet. She should be teaching us mistakes 101 students make so we can learn and do great in 101. Instead she is hurtful disrespectful patronizing and grades very harshly.
I loved this class! It's the standard English class with reading assignments and essays. Make sure you sit in front and participate . The more you participate the more likely the professor is to remember you while grading. There is a 10 page paper, but don't be alarmed. If you prepare yourself early, it will be a breeze.
I took this professor in fall 2014 and she does not know how to teach! We asked her why she wouldn't be teaching for English 101 because they flunked her down to 28! Wow! She is a horrible teacher. She treats her whole class as if your in elemtary school. If you like being ridiculed and spoken down to THIS IS YOUR TEACHER! If your human and cannot teach for the life of her. She gives horrible instructions and get frustrated when you ask to many questions. Don't talk to your friends you will be moved.

I enjoyed this class! Professor Rosenwein is very clear and helpful. She encourages class discussion, which is also helpful. By the time the class was through, I had a much better understanding of literature and how to write an essay
Since you can not transfer this class to a 4 year school, I just took it to pass. I hardly tried and received a B. I don't really like her teaching style, because she makes fun of anything she doesn't agree with, makes child-like noises, and gestures to mock it. We did 6 vocabulary quiz, 2 in class test essays 2 take home essays. Still easy tho.
If you agree with her point of view, the class will be a walk in the park. Void disagreeing with her at all cost. Show up, do assigned work, correct if needed--eassssssy A.

As someone who enjoys English, this class was a disappointment, especially as my first collegiate English course. Take if you want an easy A, but you'll need to put up with fragmented lectures and glorified story time. Don't take if you would like to become a better writer and reader.
I really like Professor Rosenwein, her classes were interesting but you could definitely just get the assignments from classmates if you miss a few classes. If you're decent at writing MLA style papers, you will get a good grade. She's very nice. Would take her class again! :)
She is my favorite English prof she is very sweet and caring she helps out with every question you have and a very funny character to say the least she is my favorite prof at pierce college I've attended most of her English classes and she is awesome
There's times where I'll be bored out of my mind while she is lecturing. Grades pretty tough on quizzes. For example, she won't accept the quiz if you get 4 or more wrong (depending how many questions it is). We did about 5 essays. One 10 page essay and the rest were 5 pages. She gives enough time to do them. Overall, not too hard of a class.
Professor Rosenwein is Hard, the only good thing I see about taking her class is that it makes you study more and learn more... but if you are not into literature and good writing you shouldnt take her class
I took her over the summer. I passed with a C. I passed all her quizzes, did all her homework. She has teacher pets. She makes you feel dumb and puts you on the spot.
I did not enjoy taking her class. She makes you feel dumb if you don't know the material. Picks her favorite students. Really boring.
A ver easy class to pass. All you have to do is read the stories she gives ever class meeting and come back to discuss them briefly. She will start giving pop quizes if she notices the class is not reading their assignments. about 5 essays per semester including a 10 page research paper. a bit bad at giving timing, but it was a breeze.
I thought she was a really good professor. shes a very nice professor , easy homework, she gets bothered when your late to class, but overall great professor very nice and easy class. she teaches good and if you pay attention you learn a lot from her. but she is kinda of strict.
Read the stories she gives. Class is participation heavy. Lectures can be a bit dry, very traditional style of teaching. There are five essays including 10 pg research paper, she gives enough time. She will give pop quizzes if she notices people stopped reading, can be demeaning at times and gets frustrated with questions. Overall, easy A.
Professor Rosenwein was not helpful. I completed her essays, passed quizzes and tests but ended up failing. It felt as though she had something against me (my race) which made me to receive an F. If you miss the day an essay is due, you need an actual doctors note for proof for being absent or you get a zero.
A little lecture heavy, but overall an easy A if you put effort into the essays and participate in class. I would consider myself a decent-above average essay writer so as long as my papers had a clear train of thought, I did well. She's not really accessible outside of class, so be sure to get all your questions answered during class time.
This class is good for students who know what they're doing and just want to get English over with. She gives readings every class, light ones. The only real assignments you have are the essays. If you're a good writing this class is a piece of cake. She's boring but who cares if the class is so easy. Also, one presentation that 10% of your grade.
She is a professor with unlimited love to her subject and writing in general. English is my second language and her manner of talking, her ability to point out things in a simple language was extremely important for me. She knows a lot of interesting stories about almost everything, it was easy to build a "bond". I went out with a strong base.
I took Prof. Rosenwein's class a few years ago. While there were times where I was frustrated with her classroom habits (reading students' worst papers out loud as an example of how not to write being a big offense, in my book), she was, by far, not my worst professor. Get ready to read, though! And don't slack on reading A Doll's House!
Had Prof Rosenwien for English 101 and although im usually good at english, i wasn't able to understand any of her lessons and homework assignsments. She is not clear with any of her lectures and it tends to come out very confusing most of the time. Doesn't explain herself properly and makes the class feel like they are on their own.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! If you struggle with English, she is not the teacher for you. It is almost impossible to understand this teacher because she does not speak clearly. She confuses her students about the assignments to the point where they do not know what is going on in the class. She is FAR from motivational.
She assigns a bunch of discussions, readings, and an essay every week. There are no lectures, she just posts a short video explaining the chapter. You pretty much teach yourself and hope for the best.
Professor Rosenweins class can be hard to get through. A lot of unorganized lectures, scattered, etc. But if you dont go to class she starts assigning things that can only be completed for a grade in class. By the last two weeks 5 of us showed up consistently. I suggest finding a different professor but her class can be easy if you half ass it.
She has a very obvious passion for literature which makes a class more enjoyable. The only thing is that she will assign 3-7page papers every couple of days. When a class is only a month long it is difficult to keep up. Especially if you have other classes/kids/job/etc. There isn't enough time to be able to do that much work every couple of days.
Great professor took a spring class, and she gave fun topics to read. Discussion and essay each week. I really enjoyed the class, and she answered any questions I had about assignments.
Annoying class get the physical textbook no online stuff she likes to read stuff from the Victorian era if that's your thing she loves symbolism and the sort her lectures are nearly useless except for the ones on books don't take unless you have way too much time on your hands or you like books and essays.
Mean and rude. Does not try to work with you at all. Gives you lots of homework to read. Controlling.

Cannot comprehend why students may not be interested in boring subjects and gets mad when she has to read the same responses to an assignment she has done for years. Terrible.
Boring class. Not very interesting and not difficult. Blanked out for most of it. Books are lame and I transhate the Victorian Era.
Would call on the only black guy in class for his opinion when it came to African /Black topics on the book. Each and every single time. Also, cannot read a sentence without saying "um" every 3 seconds. Can't use computer and projector. Lazy writing on the board like she's ready to retire and go home.
You need the penjamin for this class or you'll just suffocate. And if you have a real life such as going to work and needing to make money to be able to pay for school like your parents don't help you Do not take this class. You will waste your time.
I recommend considering Prof. Rosenwein. She is one of the few professors who genuinely cared about my grades and me. The class was relatively easy, as long as you put in effort. My overall proficiency in English has improved as a result of taking it. She is an exceptional educator, and I would like to enroll in her class again.
While attendance is not mandatory or graded, all quizzes and most writing assignments are only able to be completed in class. Graded work includes 3 quizzes, 3 writings (2 in class, 1 research paper), and the final test. Focuses mainly on Victorian Era Lit. and grammar. Work is clear and easy as long as you're not lazy and somewhat competent.
Absolutely the worst professor I've ever had. Her assignments were so confusing and her personality and her ability to teach was just not it. Definitely not recommending this professor for English 101.
If you want an easy class I would say to take this, but the teacher sucks. Her lessons are so boring and mostly talks about herself. She can't read a simple sentence without stuttering and can't work a computer. Always repeats herself. Lots of reading but some are short. She does random quizzes if she feels like no one read the book.
Not a good professor, she's not clear to understand and she's very much all over the place. She's not good at using the computer or the whiteboard, we rarely take notes on books and poems we read. You mostly just talk about symbolism and she expects you to participate. But if you want an easy class with boring lectures, take her.

I liked this professor. She was very lecture heavy and sometimes got a bit boring but she knows her stuff. A good amount of reading and quizzes based on the readings. If you read the stories and come to class it's an easy class. One essay which dictates your grade so make sure you work well on it.
Very lecture heavy. Topics are focused on the Victorian era, so it can get boring. The classwork itself is really easy as long as you read or get the gist of every reading that's assigned. A couple essays as tests but it's nothing to worry about as long as you came to class.
