she is a GREAT teacher. If you need any help at all, she is right there to give you the helping hand that you need. She even is understanding to the personal problems one might have. We didnt really use our book that much, which was a bummer since i paid for it. But it was a great class and she is very understanding and a GREAT teacher.

Miss Thorson is an amazing teacher. She is the teacher that can help you all the way and give you the grade that you deserve. If you need a class that will get you back into school, she is the teacher to take. She is hard but you get your moneys worth because you learn alot and its not just threw the text book. Small group all the way.

Mrs Thorson is a good teacher.. very critical though.. I recommend Thorson for those who seek a challenge and if your major is Comm def. take her because all speeches have to be memorized "NO NOTE CARDS"... but overall she was hilarious and well, pretty.. :)

She is amazing, and I plan to take all Comm classes through her, at least as many as I can. She not only works with students but gets to know them, mainly because she can run a class dry. We walked in there with a ton of students but left w/15 of us. We were a close group though. She makes it comfy so if you are afraid to speak in public!

At first she is a royal B-word, but that is just to weed out the weaker students in the class. She is just passionate. If you don't listen the first time you won't get the issue. You have to have a brain to take the class. She is VERY HARD. Definately a challenge. If you have a learning disability, refrain from taking the class.

Andrea is super passionate and at first its strange and then somewhere in the middle she infects you. I started caring about**** i never thought about before. You do group work. Don't take if you are a bad writer. You do research. She basically challenges you constantly and by the end you feel so great. Students that do bad really deserve it-

She makes you do a project about"socially significant" issues. This seems annoying but actually it was so much fun and you learn so much, but you never really feel like you had to work at learning. I looked forward to this class everyday.She is funny and really understanding

U should note that only one person had a bad thing to say about Drea & its someone who dropped after the 3rd week! You should grade people if you didn't actually take the class. She rocks! She is fun! She is the only teacher i have had that actually as her students would say "gives a****". Peace!

She is a great teacher. She let us feel like we could talk about anything and get help on any issue. She helped me get over my depression and many of us with our relationships. You love to learn in this class

Seems hard but is actually really easy as long as you go to class and try hard. She won't reward what she calls "slackers" I am learning a lot from this class. This class is harder than other com classes because its a "critical thinking" class so be ready for more thinking and work. She is super smart. i'm not sure why she is here-shes good

She was an awesome professor I would love to have her again. She is a big feminist and is very blunt if you can not handled a woman being in charge don't take her I really love the way she teaches she is not like other prof. And that is one of the greatest things about her!

She is a wonderful teacher. Knows her stuff. Mrs Thorson is very passionate about her job. Very open minded. She helps you in what ever trouble you may have in the class. I recommend her class.

Best college professor you will ever have. The only reason you wouldn't love her would be because you don't like the fact that she actually has expectations of us. And not because she wants to be a hard teacher, but because she cares about the growth of her students. Take her class. You won't get more out of any other college course, I swear.

This class is much harder than the other comm classes. I have taken 5 communication classes and Thorson's was the hardest. She was also the best teacher. She has standards and somehow she worked with us until we reached her level- i felt like for the first time i really learned. She made the hardest stuff simple.

You will never have a teacher like this one again! I've been in and out of school for 20 years and she is the only teacher that i can say really loved her students. Mrs. Thornson transformed students who couldn't speak without crying to student's who looked forward to speaking days! It was crazy!! I think we all loved her for caring so much

Great teacher! She really knows her stuff! You need to research your material for topics. No long test just a few quizzes but must study for them. Best Comm teacher! Don't let her blunt personality scare u away :)

She is the best teacher i have ever had. i liked her teaching style! she is energized and let us be ourselves.she had a set schedule and even allowed us to turn things in online which was nice for a lot of reasons -especially quizzes!

She had 2 grandma's dying, uses a cane to walk, broke her finger, has three kids and she still was the most organized and caring teacher i had this semester. She helped everyone one on one- she stayed until 10:30pm twice helping me and my group you can't ask for more than ms thorson

I took Prof. Thorson at CSUB for Comm 108 and I was totally dreading taking this class cause I hate public speaking. She is awesome though, she got me through my fear of public speaking and helped a lot. Her attitude is awesome, she seems brash at first, but it totally cool and kick back. She has a lot on her plate and still accomplishs so much.:)

I LOVE MRS. THORSON! SHE CHANGED MY LIFE. Be respectful and kind to others and show up. Be involved and it will pay off. This is a class and a teacher you will never forget. I cried when I hugged her goodbye at the end of the semester.

I loved Drea. She seemed intimidating at first but she has been my favorite teacher. She is very helpful and taught us a lot. I bonded with our classmates. Her class was the only class I looked forward to go to. Definitely take her. I got an A. Just work hard on your outline and follow her speech guidelines you'll get that A.

Professor Thorson is amazing. She is very helpful and very understanding. She accepts no late work. Don't ever miss a presentation day or you will be docked 20% if late docled 10%, if your phone goes off during presentation, then 20%. She is strict but if you show up to class and do your work you will do well in this class

Andrea is the best teacher in the communication department at B.C. I took, and dropped, a few of the other instructors, but she made it so much less stressful.I would HIGHLY recommend her!! She makes this class fun and she is such a joy to be around! Take her for public speech and you will not regret it!

She is the best teacher I have ever taken on the college level and I have 70 units. I was not the same person after she got done with me. Seldom does that happen in school. She lets you learn and grow without forcing you to do everything exactly her way. Her students are not robots that she programs. They are people that she molds.

She is a great teacher. At first you might hate it because its public speaking and that is so hard and freaked me out. She is hard on you but she makes you better. She is funny and really cares about her students. I attended office hours and she helped me so much. She's very accomplished. I felt lucky to have her.

She is sarcastic which I loved. If you are shy she will bring you back to the world. I couldn't imagine speaking in front of the class without crying. Drea let us practice that in class and gave us chances to work in gorups so I felt more comfortable when speech day came. Just do your readings, outlines and practice. She's the best teacher

She is the most helpful teacher I have ever known. I liked that she was honest about her expectations. I saw her in office hours and she totally changed my perspective on the class and school and even who I was.

I looked her up- she's kind of a big deal. It was cool to be taught by someone so experienced. She's not old though she's funny and really sarcastic which was a good change from most my dull professors

I took this class with another professor and failed. I took it with her. She was harder but she made me want to come to class and do well for her. I got a B! Take her she will change the way you think

She is strict but is very willing to help you. The class may be stressing at times but everyone else will feel srressed as much as you are so you are not alone. She got the whole class into her teachings that we basically became a big family but she is a very caring and compassionate person. Honesty one of the best professors I've taken. :)

I hated public speaking but Professor Thorson has basically saved my life. She is personal w her students, sarcastic, and an all around nice person. She is sassy the first few weeks so kids will drop, BUT DON'T DO IT! She will help you with your social anxiety and you will for sure thank her later. It's a lot of work, but it will all be worth it.

I was scared once I knew what this class was. But she somehow made this class the class I looked forward to. She is hard on you and honest, but kind and loving.

She made our class a family. I don't know how, but it was nice. I loved everyone by the end and some of us cried. SHe has her expectations, she will give you a hard time, but she will hug you and support you and say things that make you feel safe. Other communications teachers were giving less work, but those students still sucked at giving speech

This is the hardest comm. class of the three I have taken. She told us that it would be hard and it was, but I felt like I really learned in this class and the last weeks I was so proud of all I had done. She always stayed after with students. She let me bring my kids to class. I use things she taught me everyday. I couldn't ask for more.

School has always come easy to me. I don't have to work as hard as others to get my A. But Andrea Thorson challenged me for the first time in years. She challenged my way of thinking, was hard on me when she knew I needed and showed such compassion for people that I can't ever look at the world the same. She is inspiring in every way.

Mrs. Thorson is the best teacher ever! I avoided public speaking for a long time, because I hate speaking in front of classmates. I'm so glad I took public speaking with her , She's a very smart lady that knows what she's talking about. Her class won't be easy but when you're done with the class you will be glad you chose her as your professor.

This is the hardest class I have had so far and I have been in college on and off for 6 years. Thorson is clear and honest about the class being hard and she provides more than enough help in and outside of class if you take advantage of it. I didn't at first and got a C on my debate. Then I listened to her and got straight A's. So rewarding

I loved this class. This professor loves her students. She was always adding more office hours to see students and she made sure we understood. You never felt like you had to do anything. She make you want to learn. It's just so inspiring.

Mrs. Thorson is by far the best professor that I have taken for the last 2 years. Very inspiring and will change your point of view in life. There were a few assignments but they were huge assignments! You have to really work for it & choose your group partners wisely. This class was so worth it because its challenging. Mrs. Thorson is a true gift to the communications department at Bakersfield college. I loved her class it was not easy but it was a great experience having her as a teacher. She really gets you out of your comfort zone and makes you look at language and the world in a different light. She is intimidating at first but she loves her students

I took a once a week class with her and I usually hate night classes, but this was a great class. As long as the class participated in discussion in a way that shows her we read and were thinking, she let us out of quizzes. We only had to take 2 of 11 quizzes because we learned quickly to participate and read which really got us into the class.

Drea was a great professor. She made me rethink everything and improve my relationship with my mom (didn't think that was possible). She is organized, made extensions when she knew we needed it and met me on a Saturday to help me with my speech because I couldn't meet during the week. Basically she goes above the call of duty. Wish i do it again.

She's blunt, honest, funny, smart, loving, kind, motivatingshe really is a rare teacher. I have never seen students hug and cry when saying goodbye to a professor before. She won't sugar coat things. She talks about things I was shocked by but thankful for. I learned more from this class than from my parents or high school combined.

This was not what I expected. IT WAS WAY BETTER! Okay, there is like no work in this class except the chapter readings and preparing your "interps" which means your poetry, book, film, or skit performances. The classes have fun and helpful activities. Don't miss class much because that is when she inspires you and helps the most.

If you are an actor you should take this class. If you a comm major you should take this class. If you are an artsy person take this class. If you want to do something totally different and cool and hard but easy take this class. We took one test- we earned out of the others. Show you read and you won't have tests.

Mrs. Thorson is such an amazing person to be around. When she walks in the room everyone lights up! I have a terrible fear of talking in front of people but she made the class so comfortable I didn't mind. I'd love to take another class with her she gives real life examples and will change the way you see the world.

This class is actually one of my favorite this semester, I happen to have problems speaking in front of an audience but Mrs. Thorson made me feel very welcomed and not judged at all. I love that she works with you and is there to help with anything that you are having trouble with. I do recommend her.

Absolutely amazing! Tons of homework with inspiring, honest, open classroom discussions. This class is an absolute MUST! it will change your life, honest. She's always available to help and she will help you get an A if you invest and do the work.

She's what you would call a professor who actually cares about what she teaches. She doesn't like slackers or people who don't actually want to learn. She is tough but honest. Intimidatingly sharp. Will work with you if you just talk with her about the problem you are having or give you some insight to help you (may depend on which class taken)

This is a great class, the professor is amazing, funny, and overall very educated. Loves what she teaches. She does give a lot of homewodrk and it is a very tough class but in the end it is all worth it.

Ms. Thorsen is a great teacher. She is VERY clear with what she expects and how she will grade you, & gives comments for every area she grades. She won't bend so don't try. She's funny and frank and I could tell she really loved what she did. I never missed a class and that is new for me!

She's amazingly caring. She taught me more about myself than I figured out in the past four years. She listens to you and supports you. She is what I aspire to be some day. She truly is an amazing professor and such a sweet person.

COMM B5 was by far the most educational and challenging course I took at BC. She was tough on APA and research which really prepared me to complete my B.A degree. I would definitely recommend!

Ms. Thorson knows her content so well she never once had lecture notes. She was able to quote statica and cite data from the book and stay on topic the entire class long. She's like a dictonarybor encyclopedia of knowledge. Very cool. She's clear about what she expects, gives more time on big assignments of u need it, and helps outside of class.

AYYYEEEE, GUYS (jk don't say that in her class, you'll get a grade reduction), DREA IS LIT. She changed me for the better. I might have changed her for the worst. But it's all water under the bridge now, or shall I say... water under the antelope. Just float along to class and cry during your performances. Maybe even... I'll let you decide.

Definitely THE BEST Comm. Professor at Bakersfield College! She knows what she's doing and ANY class taken with her WILL change your perspective on school and life. She is motivational and genuinely cares about her students. HIGHLY recommend for all to take!

Mrs. Thorson was one of my best professor I have taken at BC. She is very clear on her syllabus. She very helpful and explain the assignments well. I love her lectures there very interesting and educational never boring. I recommend you to take her class she an amazing professor. She is very fair with grading.

She is a very good teacher and her lectures you do not want to miss. She makes it fun to attend college. She will make the time to see you even outside her office hours. A group of us met her on the weekends sometimes. She gives you the rubric ahead of time and is clear with requirements so I always knew what I needed to do. Best teacher so far.

Thorson is the best comm professor that you could have. She is an expert in her field, she cares about the students, and will help you to be successful. I have had her for two classes and will work my future schedule to make sure that I have her again if possible. If you have to take a comm class, take it from Andrea Thorson!!

Ignore the lazy students who said she didn't give clear expectations. She is clear and if those student listened every single speech and assignment is posted on the website with a rubric that is used to grade you. She reviewed the areas and expectations for each speech many times and before speeches. These people need to act like college students.

Such a cool class! I'm glad I stayed. It's scary but invigorating! She's really understanding and clear.

This class helped me so much. I am a better husband and brother. I don't think other professors should have gotten me to care like Drea did. She puts a lot of energy into lectures and activities are fun and useful. Workbook is a must.

This is the second class that I have had with her and it was even more amazing than the first one. This class showed me things about myself that I wasn't even aware of. Professor Thorson honestly cares about her students, and if you put effort into the class, she will put effort into you! Because of her, I am now double majoring in Comm and Nursing

I really enjoyed Prof. Thorson's Oral interp class!! Beware, she is very sarcastic and a little intimidating at first but i promise you, she will better you're communication skills. You just have to stick it out. Those are some of group performances and activities but they are really simple. I suggest you go in expecting to open up.
