very easy professor. counts attendance, teaches material in class. no reading. 5 speeches all together, very little writing involved. just show up for class. prepare your speeches, follow her guidelines and u'll be fine!

Pros: Very easy Professor. No homework or exams. Only need to do 5 speeches. Cons: Insults students. Got made fun of when she was a child.. that explains the verbal abuse towards students.

Great professor. All you gotta do is follow what she wants on your outline. When you do your speeches just practice beforehand and put some enthusiam into. Basically, sell yourself like you would in an interview, and make eye contact! Easy A if you are outgoing in real life.

Ignore the negative comments, the students in my class were treated fairly and she is so easy. I'm sure so much better than other professors. I got an A w/almost no effort!

I had her in Spring 2005, she is one of the best professors I have had to date. At first I was a bit nervous about this class, but she was a great prof. and made what she expected in a given speech clear. I defintely recommend her. I got an A. She made me want to take more communication classes.

She tells you exactly what she wants and she is very helpful and nice....i was scared to take this class but she has really made it a breeze 5 speeches and she guides you through them all you do not need the book!!!!

great professor! Even though the lectures are pretty boring, the speeches were not. this is a great class to take in the summer time because there aren't too many assignments.

Great professor, tells you everything you need to do on the speech. Follow all the guidelines she gives you for each speech and you'll get an A. Don't bother buying the book, it's absolutley useless. She's not a great grader also not bad, but if you follow her instructions than you'll get an A. Tends to drone on with her lectures.

She is a very nice Professor who is alway available to guide you in your speech presentations. Tends to be a bit moody sometimes. But overall great class, highly recommended.

Really quite good. She's very upbeat and allows the class to have fun, which really helps with the comfort level during speeches. Her grading pattern is a little difficult to read, but overall tends to be lenient. Participate in class, don't buy the book, and don't be forgetful about specific things she asks you to do.

Good and funny prof. English is my native language and I had no trouble. Not sure how grading is for foreign students, but she is incredibly helpful and encouraging to those who are nervous or unsure. She can be "harsh" as mentioned, but its just sort of her humor. She does expect you to do the work--but that's school.

I'm ESL with accent but still got an A. If you are the same as me, don't fear to speak loudly. She is funny and teaches this course clearly. You will really learn how to do a speech. Two speeches+1mid+1final, and textbook is only a little helpful. What he teaches in class counts.

The comments below are true, don't argue with her and choose speech topics that she will favor (health, sports). Use the outline she gives you for the structure of your speech, make sure you are clear and transition well between intro, body, etc. Don't memorize, you can read right off the cue card and glance at the audience occasionally.

Best Professor ever!!!! She keeps the class fun so you don't fall asleep if you taking her at night. There are only 4 speeches and an extremely easy midterm quiz. Take her!!! Easy A!

It is really hard to get an A. I worked as hard as I could and got a B. This class was my lowest grade and it lowered my GPA. Most people get B's. She is a nice teacher but if you want an A avoid this class.

Many people say she is moody to me. Yes She really is. But she is a extremely easy grade. Make sure you get your outline revised in the center. and you will be fine. She grade if some characteristics of your speech appear. when it does you get 4/5. when it is good organized you get 5/5 for that part. then add them all up. Very easy A

Definitely suck up to her, its worth it. Get on her good side in the beginning of the semester and participate a lot during her lessons. The actual lessons are easy (straight out of the book) and the quizzes are super easy too (we only had two this semester). Make sure to ask her for feedback (email her your outline, ask her after class, etc.)

I was really nervous coming into this class but I am really glad I took this class with Prof Tienan. If you work hard you can def get an A. Make sure to send speeches beforehand so she can give feedback and try to go to SACC center, they help out a lot. 4 speeches, 2 quizzes, no final. Not a hard class at all.

Pro Tienan is really good. I`m a non native speaker and I was afraid that it may affect my speeches.But it turns out that if you really work hard and do what she has told you. You`ll be fine. She is really helpful. I took the summer course. And there are 4 speeches and 1 final. Final was really easy.

Pretty clear on what she expects and how everything is graded. Email her a draft before you present so that she can give you pointers. I find her voice a bit annoying but it might just be me. Used textbook for like 2 classes so it's not really worth buying. Make sure to time your speeches within the time given

She comes off rude and defensive at times but she's sweet on the inside. Your grade is based on 4 speeches so there is no homework or tests. She will edit your outlines if you email them ahead of time so thats nice. She talks way too much for such a common sense class. very easy.

Took her summer '14, good teacher overall. She uses two tones (a high-pitched one mostly and a low-pitch) listen when she goes to low pitch, it's probably important. She really cares and wants you to improve as much. 3 presentations. I froze on my first one but improved in the last two and participate in class, she gave me an A-. Don't sleep

Prf Tienan can be an easy A if u do EXACTLY what she says. 4 speeches and 2 quizzes. each speech requires a very specific outline and quizzes strait from class notes. she grades more on content of speech than public speaking ability. Speech topics very important. if she doesnt like the topic, DONT use it. and dont be a wiseguy or ask dumb questions

Prof. Tienan is not your average teacher. She is the embodiment of the word eccentric but to me this is what made her a great professor. As long as you follow instructions and apply her feedback you will get an A. She can be harsh and unapologetic to the extreme of alineting someone but she is more bark than bite. She is super well hearted.

Professor Tienan is a good professor. As a human, I could talk to her and discuss some topics. when it comes to lectures, its all about particiaption. you want A - Do everyything!! She also gives a lot of feedbacks which is really helpful. I would take again cause I already know her teaching style and i kinda liked her for real.
