Show up, take notes, study, take the tests, make an A.
Professor Vicente was awesome, she is always very helpful and fair in her grading.
I really enjoyed the subject but I felt the lessons were rushed and the tests very ambiguous. She wasn't very supportive and was at times unorganized. She's not the worst by any means... just not a standout.
She is phenominal
Take notes on her lectures don't just rely on her slides. If you are having trouble or have any concerns about anything in her class just talk to her. She's incredibly accommodating & wants all her students to succeed, but only if they are willing to put in the effort.Very easy person to talk to. One of the nicest profs. I've met during my yrs @hcc.
just follow what she said and take good notes.
She was a great professor and I would definitely recommend her to anyone. I took her Modern History Class at the same time as taking Early History with Jeffrey Zinkan. I had a B/A in her class, which is normal for me and a D in his, which is not normal for me at all. She really makes you understand the material.
Andrea Vicente is an awesome teacher. I was not looking forward to AMH.I have a bad historyof history after taking her AMH class.I'LL be taking he Latin History class
One of the best teachers I've had so far. She likes to talk out any confusion you might have on the subject and her end project is pretty fun if you get the right group. My only beef is that the lectures were stuff you could get right out of the book, but the amount of unique things she throws in there is good too. Just make sure to take notes.
Take her! She is my favorite teacher I have had at HCC! She is really nice and makes the class extremely interesting. I was not looking forward to the class ending. She is a wonderful person and teacher.
Her class is organized and well thought out. To do well in this class is not a hard thing to do, simply come to class and take good notes. She does require some short response answers on tests, however she will preview examples and grades very fairly.
Attend classes, take notes & follow her study guides in order to succeed. There are a total of 3 exams (MC/Short Essay) & 1 research paper. She is extremly nice & loves her job. I was taking a max course load & will have an A before the course ends. Don't waste your time or hers if you think you can just show up on exam days only & expect to pass.
great teacher
Dr Vicente is the best professor I have had at HCC in three semesters.
Excelent Teacher! one of the best!
She s literally the best teacher ive had while attending HCC. I Hated history before I met this amazing teacher
This is the best teacher I've had so at HCC. She is very clear as to what she wants. It is a good idea to take notes from her lectures as well as her slides.
she is awesome. I prom4673ise you will enjoy and pass this class.
Prof. Vicente was awesome. I really enjoyed her class (online.) She made History more interesting. She gives you articles to read and videos to watch in addition to the material in the book so it's not so boring. If you read and do your work like you're supposed to then it's definitely easy to pass her class!
Recommend!! Dr. Vicente is very helpful! The course itself was a bit difficult for me due to the material (Early American Hist). However, I did well in the class and on the essays. My advice is be thorough and complete all assignments.
I took Dr. Vicente for LAH and I greatly enjoyed her class! She is very clear and well organized. She is very passionate about the subject and an enthusiastic teacher. I highly recommend her.
She absoultely knows how to make history interesting. She lectures, and its very easy to follow along by making notes, and using the textbook as a reference. I really enjoyed her class.
What an awesome and enthusiastic professor, Dr. Vicente is one fine teacher who loves her job. Come to class and just be thorough on your paper.
2 words: Awesome professor! Just be sure to attend class.
as I struggled with a 22 yro rebellious son, and cancer, she was the only one that took interest/cared. she has that "something" that makes her hard to dislike. tough for single guys, but great for learning.
No worries with this online class. Grading is done in a timely fashion and assignments are clearly explained. I definitely recommend her as an online instructor.
This class is easy, I taken it in the summer, she is very straight forward and there is no way one couldn't pass this class. multiple choice and participation makes it easier to enjoy learning the material. As long as you pay attention in classI hate history but she has made it worth it. I am taking hernext class. I would recommend her to everyone.
She is so good, I enjoyed lecture coming from her. I took this class during the summer, so it was a lot of info, but she presented it well. Her power points are ok, but I mainly took notes on what she spoke upon. Attendance was 20% of the grade. Book was only used for exam essays
Professor Vicente is THE BEST!! She is passionate about teaching, and she makes sure everyone understands. She is there for her students and cares!! Beautiful person inside and out!!
Amazing professor! I hate history classes, but she made it really interesting. Straightforward, very helpful, and a genuinely nice person. In my three semesters at HCC, her class was one of the few that I actually looked forward to going to.
She is an incredible teacher and is truly passionate about the subject she is teaching. I actually feel like I was taught something in her class. She's also an incredibly kind and thoughtful person, very helpfu,l and one of the best professors I've had!
The best teacher i have had in my entire college career. I took Modern American History with her first, loved the class so much i came back for Latin American History. Ive never had any interest in history until i took this class, and she was so easy to understand that i passed with an A and actually remembered everything she taught me. Awesome
Dr. Vicente is a great professor; her class was one of the few classes, that I enjoyed at HCC.
Ms. Vicente is by far my favorite professor at HCC. She's clear, concise, well read, highly intelligent, honest, and has a child-like enthusiasm about her subject that is magnetic and makes it impossible to dislike her. It doesn't hurt that shes easy on the eyes either. The only issue you may have in her class is becoming distracted by her beauty.
Professor Vicente is a nice professor. She explains exactly what you need to know to pass the course. She is extremely organized in regards to how your assignments are viewed and announcements. Constructive Feedback. The only complaint I had was her lectures were entirely too long and filled with repetitive info.
What is there to say about Mrs Vicente she is an awesome professor and knows her stuff She expects you to pay attention during lecture and take good notes. Bottom line if you pay attention, the tests and assignments are easy especially since she prints out the assignments
MY FAVORITE TEACHER EVER!!!! CLEAR, STRAIGHT TO THE POINT, GREAT CLASS, LEARNED ALOT.
I took her 5wk EAMH class. Her organization of the class made it so simple to know what was expected, and made sure nothing got lost in the fray in that short time frame. Her video lectures helped explain the material and are necessary to watch if you want a good grade on the quizes. She is a fair grader for you essays. Simple, just do the work!
Dr. Vicente is a good and fair instructor. Her class is not hard; however, if you need help, or don't understand, she will help you. If online, she will get right back with you. She tells you what she wants in her assignments. Her lectures and videos are helpful. If you follow her guidelines, you will do fine.
Took her Walk through Ybor Connections class. It was everything you could hope for and more. If she offers it again, take it!
Her class is very informative and in depth. Participation is key. She will listen to what you have to say and encourage you. She makes her own PP and posts everything online. She gives great feedback and guides you in the right direction. There is no excuse to fail. I find history dry but she made it enjoyable. TAKE HER!
She is a great teacher. Her lectures are easy to listen to and engage you. She does expect you to listen and participate. She wants you to understand what you are learning, but she makes it easy. She is a tough on papers so if you suck at English think twice. Quizzes were easy if you listen. Take her you won't regret it.
Latin American History. I really enjoyed the class it was very interesting she made the class fun and easy to learn. I would gladly take her again. She requires you to get a book for the class to read but honestly I only ever read it once it helps but I got an A and didn't read so.. Just take clear notes and listen also in the worksheets add detail
good god her lectures were beyond awful. Her saying the word "right" once every minute about drove me crazy! Speed up her lectures to a min of x1.5
I listened to the lecture took A LOT of notes, which was enough to pass the quizzes. Notes help for writing papers. Barely read the text but is needed as reference for papers. I like History so I found it materials interesting. I did not work hard for this grade. I made an effort and it paid off. TAKE NOTES!!!!!
lectures are very interactive. 10 packets of discussion questions super fun and easy. no need for the book but if u want one get an older version the books are the same. very interesting class. 4 tests. tests are 50 scan tron(50pts) and then you choose 4 subjects from a list and elaborate on them and explain them. (50pts). one paper on segregation.
I encourage all to do her physical lectures. I did her AMH2010 online (easy if you read), and a lot of the powerpoints were reused in her Women's History when relevant. She is strict in grading and will give constructive feedback on any coursework. She encourages higher levels of discussion, is engaging. Hope to take her for LAH2020 and AMH2020.
Dr. Vicente is truly special. She takes a non-conventional approach to her lectures. She does not care about dates, but rather focuses on everyone understanding the bottom lines. Of course you will read, but it will not be dreadful. If you want an easy ride, look somewhere else. Dr. Vicente takes her class very seriously, and grades accordingly.
Amazing teacher. Made the class fun and was really easy. Also she is kinda hot(the pepper is on fire)
easy class seen her 5 times watched movies and talked about the movie she lectures one group test and you write a paper and your done
Her Early Am. History class is super easy. Theres usually only one assignment due each Monday and no exams. She's not a tough grader by any means, just make sure to be specific and use good grammar. The textbook is basically pointless since all her quizzes are based off her lecture videos and she provides dif. reading material for other assignments
I took the 8 week online AMH 2010 class and I felt the work was quite intensive. I would encourage anyone who wants to take the class to take it as a 16 week course because the work would be distributed and not as much. The professor was really helpful and provided great feedback!
Really great lectures and teaching style, but a tough grader. Don't wait till last minute to do your homework. No retakes, late submissions or extra credit. Very informational but requires a lot of hardwork.
She is SO nice! She's a great professor. Just pay attention to the lectures and actually put in some effort on assignments and you'll do just fine. She's always quick with email responses and is very sweet. Would definitely recommend!
I took Vicente for an online Early AM HIS class. It was wonderful. She is a tough grader but it really helps you improve the way you write an analyse and you actually learn something. History used to be my least favorite class, but not anymore. Lots of lectures, third source videos. But she helps with any questions and replies quickly. A+
I took Dr. Vicente online, she was an awesome teacher. If you have questions she does not mind taking the time to go over any questions to make sure you understand. I love the lecture videos that she created to teach you. She is very clear what she expects. A wonderful teacher. Thank you Dr. Vicente you have taught me a lot Thanks again
Professor Vicente is amazing! Her lectures are content heavy & actually pretty interesting. Besides that, her expectations are clear & she is more than willing to help you understand the topic and write well. As long as you take good notes & put care into your work, you will pass! I wish she taught AMH 2020! I would take her class in a heart beat!
Definitely set the standards high being that it was an honors class. but that is what made the course so helpful! lectures were in depth and very interesting. you cannot skip class, She is super helpful if you show up and ask. This class prepares you and gives you a taste of future college work at a 4 year school and graduate program. Loved it!
Professor Vicente does a great job in her lectures of putting history in context so it's easy to understand, and I learned so much! Make sure to take good notes on the lectures and discussion board films. I never needed the textbook. Put time and effort into the assignments that entail writing. She gives great feedback.
Dr. Vicente is very knowledgeable in her subject matter and I learned a lot from her video lectures. That being said, she is a tough grader and you will work for your grade. I took the class online and it was laid out very well. There is no extra credit and you will do a lot of writing.
The way she lectures is clever but confusing. She teaches in a video format, which is good to have some visual but at the same time is confusing because she gets stuck while talking and goes back and forward. I think videos should be shorter and better prepared. Also note that if you don't see them you wont be able to pass the quiz.
I enjoued this class more than I thought i would have. Class was better organized than others I took at hcc. pretty straightforward assignments. I liked the source analysis ones becuase it made it much more interesting. Dr. V can be a tough grader but when i asked for more feedback she was really helpful. learned a lot would take again.
Professor Vicente is a good prof. and the class was super interesting. However, there were a couple of instances of miscommunication via announcements that made a lot of students confused about when assignments were due. Shes a good Professor but get read to write and make sure youre checking the syllabus so you know when things are actually due.
If you are passionate about history or interested in womens rights I highly recommend this class. Professor Vicente actually interacted more than other online teachers. I could not have chosen a better IDS class.
I took Dr. Vicente online and it was simple! Gives good feedback. Be ready to write a lot! But I became a better writer and managed my time better because of her! My grade was a 97.21% highly recommend!
Dr. V is very knowledgable and personable. She lectures the entire class but she makes history fun and engages. The only downside that I didn't like is the amount of writing and she graded tougher than my comp 2 teacher. You'll have to write for weekly discussion questions, 2 papers, and on the test. If you like writing, she is a solid choice!
She was nice & graded fairly. She made her own video lectures (this is where she gets quiz answers) so I never needed the book even though I bought it. The work is simple, reminds me of high-school. You will do essay discussions, quizzes and Matrixes. The work wasn't hard as much boring. Do the work & you'll get an A. She always gives feedback.
I took Ms. Vicente's class for 2020 Summer Term at the 6 week accelerated pace. About 4 assignments weekly, some due Wednesday and some Sunday. Her class was not that hard even though the content was challenging some times. I highly recommend that you take her class. She offered 6 extra credit assignments and left feedback if you didn't get 100%.
I took Professor Vicente for AMH 2010 in the fall and now took her for IDS in the summer and she is the BEST! Truly caring for her students and she is respected by the college and students. Both times I took her, I passed with a high A. One thing I can say is, get ready to write, but that made a better writer! Would def recommend!!!!!
You can tell Dr. Vicente loves history. She wants you to pass and get a good grade but she isn't going to just hand it out. You definitely have to work for it. That being said the material isn't hard to understand and the homework isn't difficult, it just takes work. She is very understanding and will work with you if you have any difficulties.
So this and my other professor make you work for the grade. She loves what she teaches but online is hard no matter what. I wish I could take her in person. I hate online classes they always seem harder. Its like what is the point if I could get this watching youtube. Still, good prof.
Probably one of the nicest teachers that I have had thus far. She always answered me back when I emailed her and gave amazing feedback. She definitely does make you work for your grade with the quizzes and the writing. She also offers extra credit at the end of her class which helps a bit.
7 primary source analysis, 12 quizzes, 8 discussions, and 8 matrixes (video note taking guides). The way this class works is you have to watch her lectures and fill out the matrix. Then take the 5-10 question quiz . Sometimes you have to analyze primary sources or watch documentaries and write a discussion post. Lots of writing but she is good.
definitely a good first dual enrollment class/college course. Follows a weekly schedule, so all assignments are due on Sunday nights. Easy grader, but gives very good feedback.
The class is simple the test are hard she creates her quizzes and tests. If you pay attention you will pass might not be an A however she will respond and help you out as much as she can. Awesome class
i was only able to select 3 tags so heres the others id select: caring, respected, inspirational, accessible outside of class. i LOVED this class & professor. i swear ive never taken a history class that starts at the civil war & goes forward- so cool. she made it so fun & interesting too & shes super nice ! she lectures but theyre phenomenal
Great professor, took AMH 2010 and 2020 with her for dual enrollment credit. Took regular paced courses with her and the workload is very balanced. There are about 2-3 assignments per week ranging from quizzes, primary source analysis, discussion posts, and film responses. She gives great feedback and I highly recommend her.
Dr. Vicente is a wonderful professor. Her lectures are incredibly clear and all the assignments are in direct relation to them. The assignments are fairly easy and most can be completed in under 30 minutes. You have quizzes, film responses, discussions, and primary source analysis. Every week there is extra credit. Overall, great professor!
Fair & fast grader. Just make sure you listen to lectures and make notes. Very organized and easy to follow. Quiz, paper analysis, and discussions is her online class.
Assignments were clear and it was easy to know what you needed to do. Lectures were a little slow but quizzes were easy. No final exam. Grading criteria was not super clear but she usually gave high Bs/As if you met the requirements.
Total of 8 lectures, which you must watch pre-recorded YouTube video, complete associated assignment that requires you to explain the lecture. 6 discussion posts, each of which needs to be an essay. 5 primary source analyses, you must read numerous stories and respond to questions about them. Not an essay class to take if you work full-time.
Dr. Vicente is the best History professor to take if you this is the field for you. Her class will train you to critically analyze sources, identify their arguments, and to reflect on any biases the may hold. She's en excellent professor and I would recommend taking her class if your goal is to become a historian, professor, or lawyer.
Wonderful teacher with very informative lectures and the quiz each week was based directly on those lectures. I learned a lot in this course however it was also a lot of work most weeks. This is the kind of class you should take if you are actually looking to learn American history and not if you're taking it to meet the credit requirement.
This professor assigned so much work, she accused me of cheating several times, took forever to respond to emails, had the longest most boring lectures I have ever had to sit through, her tests are formatted in the worst way the questions are difficult to understand unless you paid close attention to every little thing she said in her lectures
lectures were annoying definitely listen in 2x speed to get through them. assignments were easy enough most answers can be looked up easily
Take class. She makes the layout of the course so fair. A couple video lectures to watch (actually interesting) and a little short unproctored quiz then just short readings and like 5 questions. Probably the most fair class ive taken at hcc. Do your 3-4 weekly assignments each week and get and A in the course.MAKES THE TEXT BOOK FREE TO ACCESS.
I took AMH2012 and AMH2020 with her and the class went well. She does audio lectures for each unit which are very helpful. Her assignments aren't too difficult most of the time.
Got in A in both AMH1010 and AMH1020 with her. A bit of a strict grader but fair and good feedback. Work was manageable and spread out nicely. Quizzes were easy if you paid attention. Genuinely learned a lot from her lectures and work. Would take again and recommend.
Had her for a connections class, super easy class so I really did not need to talk to her at all. Easy grader, it was more of a completion grade than actual grading. As well, you could do the class all at one time versus weekly if you wanted to. Def recommend for anyone!
No final or honorlock. 8 Lecture quizzes- super easy. 6 film responses- 2 lowest get dropped at the end. 6 primary source analysis. Strict on citing but she is super caring. We had 2 hurricanes & she took off all late point for a month & a half to allow people to catch up. Easy if you stay up to date. Late credit -10pt per day for up to a week.
One of my favorite teachers so far. Gives really detailed lectures and PDFs for all of them. Pay attention and take good notes and you will do good on the quizzes. I only got a B because I didn't try, she does give a lot of extra credit opportunities. Grades kind of hard on the other assignments, but some are only a participation grade.
I took IDS Connections with Professor Vicente and loved it! The films and text provided were not easily accesible through the public or school library so it really felt like you were getting the inside scoop. She really cares about her students, and IDS is pass/fail, so grading is simple. I would recommend and retake this class in a heartbeat.
This class is hard to move letter grades up. It is waited really hard. I kept on getting flat 80% or 90% which made my grade get stuck at a 90%. There are many assignments each week and they are really long sometimes. Also, half of the due dates are in the middle of the week. Keep up with the classwork and you will survive!
Really easy class just do your work on time and you can get an A. Nothing was too tedious or time consuming just be smart about how you approach the assignments. She also drops lowest quiz grade and only takes off 10% each day for late work.
Really easy class just do your work on time and you can get an A. Nothing was too tedious or time consuming just be smart about how you approach the assignments. She also drops lowest quiz grade and only takes off 10% each day for late work. I had her for both 2010 and 2020 and would take again.
Lecture heavy. You will need to watch up to 4 near-hour long lectures per week-- and don't forget to watch them, because not only are her course modules locked until you've viewed the lectures and readings, all of her 100 point quizzes are extremely lecture-specific. Honorlock is used. Don't you dare miss a direction-- your grade will reflect it.
Easy grading, watch the short lectures every week, at most it's an hour of lectures for an entire week. There's a lecture quiz after which takes usually 30 seconds it's very easy. CHECKS DO NOT MEAN 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great teacher, final project was super easy.
Dr. Vincente is easily one of the best professors at Hillsborough Community College. You should be so lucky have her as an instructor. There are also some excellent extracurricular opportunities attached to the course. She's incredibly caring and will help you on whatever path you're taking.
