I have never understood math at all, I jst don't comprehend it but she made everything clear and would definately request her for future math classes.
She hands oput note and explains the process very well. Very helpful instructor
She is funny and a approachable teacher. Her class is a little tuff. When it comes to test, its either all right or all wrong. No partial credit. There are about 4 test not including the final. No homework but practice problems. If your a good math student, then she's your teacher, if not, don't But she is willing to help. Good Luck! =)
She only wants to teach Math to those who are good at it. That way it is easy for her. If you are a guy you have it made! And her stories....to some-- funny but she is way out there!
The class is hard, but she keeps it interesting and is always willing to answer any question. I would love to have her for my next math class.
She is very helpful. Takes attendance everyday, so be there. Her handout notes are very helpful, so use them, as well as her practice tests. Just study in moderation, and u will do well. Don't walk in late (she hates that)! And keep cell phones off! Great teacher!
Unless you know the material going in, I'd stay away from this teacher. The classroom is her domain and she lets you know it. The only grade is 4 exams and a comprehesive final. Doesn't go over any of them afterwards so you, "don't get in her face about it" Says she can't handle people crying in front of her. Thinks she's teaching at Harvard,
Full semester felt more like a summer course. Too much crammed in and not much time devoted to explanation.
very very helpful. really wanted to see her students pass.
Stay away if math isn't a breeze for you. She is very fast paced..your grade is based only on tests (which may or may not be to your advantage). I did not find this instructor useful at all..it was a waste of time and money.
Excellent teacher always willing to help the students. very well organize. Easy to understand
she is actually very good explaining math, however her tests are very hard and that's all you have to pass the class, not homework or quiz. It was a very hard class and she is not an easy teacher.
She does an excellent job teaching Math and is always in a good mood which rubs off on the students!
I took her for a summer (crash) coarse. It was definitely a real challenge for me, not a math wiz - her grades are on 4 tests & a cumulative final. Positives - she hands out great notes & she will replace your worst test score with the average of your final (if the score is better). She is also a very positive teacher & explains math in easy terms
Great teacher indeed.
Not recommended unless you're good at math. She tries to be a good teacher, but fails.Often gets confused in class about her own teaching. She DOESN'T see it from a fresh student perspective and goes too fast. She sees math clearly, but as student without a masters degree in math, You'll be lost. She fails to realize that we're still learning.Dont take!
Love this teacher, very approachable, always willing to stay after class to explain a few things! Takes a personal interest in students, and goes out of her way to answer questions that tend to come up in the homework-the ones that you wouldn't think of until you're alone!! GREAT TEACHER!!
Very easy to learn from. She assigns a lot of homework but it is only there for practice not for points. She gives packets to take notes on so you are able to understand what is going on easily. Enjoyed her class.
Best math teacher i have ever had!I struggled with math my whole life and she does very well to explain material. She is sincere in trying to know and studens on a personable level and has a comedic personality that easily rubs off onto students.I reccommend the review classes if math isnt your thing. She can tell if you are stumped during notes.
Took her for Math40, already knew a lot of material covered, just took the class for review. Seemed nice and understanding, quite helpful, and usually her tests were pretty predictable, but not easy (Of course its math). I probably should of taken her again for 110 and 120, but was stupid and didn't. Overall was a pretty good experience.
She made class fun and enjoyable. She assigns a lot of homework but it never has to be turned in...and there are never any pop quizes. I didn't like this cause if I was doing something wrong I didn't know it until I got my test back. I took her for summer course...would NOT recommend this.
She is very helpful and willing to answer any questions you have! Quizzes are like homework and notes in class. Tests are like reviews and quizzes. Do the homework and you will be fine! Missing a class can hurt though if you don't get caught up right away!
Easy A as long as you pay attention and are decent at the level of math you're in. She's fun and easy to talk to. If you ever have any issues, just go talk to her, she won't bite...hard. I would recommend her, but she doesn't post grades on Blackboard or anything so you'd have to go to her to find them out.
Not recommended if you have ADD. She goes way too fast and doesn't explain things very clearly. Also most boring class I've ever been in. I nearly fell asleep every day. She drones on and on while writing down math problems and qickly solving them on the board. moves way too fast!
Andrea made math bearable. Her study guide/ lecture note outlines make the class easy to study for and to follow along. She made everything understandable and gives you so many options for how to get further help. She also replaces your lowest test grade with the grade you get on the final. loved her class.
I've never met a professor that color cuded notes, not even in high school. she's not a very fun person, but she is a great teacher. she assign a lot of homework for your own good but she doesn't check them. If you come to class everyday and pay attention, you will pass with a B or better.
I LOVE this Professor, she prints out note packets so you don't even have to take notes, Shes willing to stay after and helps and she makes a hard subject easy to learn. Her lectures are a little long but, easy. Her test are hard so don't slack off on your homework. All-in-all, if your struggling with math, i would recommend her.
Andrea Vorark is the best math teacher I've ever had. I had her for math 40 and math 11o and she actually made me like math. She has notes already typed out for you and she tries to help you understand everything. She is very nice and made math 110 enjoyable.
Great teacher for students struggling to understand math and are stuck. For me I just needed one of those teachers with experience whose teaching style is rare to find these days, and I found that in her. She clearly explains thoroughly and will slow down and take her time, there's in class practice with groups, and gives out study guides for tests.
I did not like her class at all! She goes so fast when she is working a problem that you barely even know how she got to the answer. I am not a fan of hers.
Prepares lecture notes so that time in class can be spent actually learning the material instead of writing every theorem down. Exams are directly from the prepared lecture notes. Textbook use is dependent on the individual, but recommended due to the material being rigorous for some. Wonderful attitude about teaching, taking again for MATH 190.
I really like the way that she teaches. She is pretty clear for the most part, but I am horrible at math. However, Her tests are long and hard and even a little tricky. You must do the homework. I took a summer class, I did all the homework, felt like I had it and failed almost every test. So, just keep in mind the tests are hard. I got a D :(
Understands and can CONVEY math to her students. She creates and hands out note packets instead of the students randomly writing them down. Formulas are listed in the packets and it just makes life so much easier. She had enough sway to get the Math-Science building to let her have one of the math lab tutors in our class so they both help everyone.
Gives you note packets that are really helpful. This class is great for people who struggle with math. She makes sure everyone understands before moving on. Keeps the class engaged. She always explains the hardest way to solve a problem before going to the easier way. Quizzes are super easy. Do the homework and practice and you'll pass.
If you're like me, you're going straight to the good reviews and reading them. If you're reading the bad ones, good for you. I have been a great math student my whole life and it's come very easy.. until this class. She's helpful, but tries to explain way too much and confuses people. She starts brainstorming unnecessary solutions too. So confusing
She is decent at teaching the material. However, the notes don't necessarily correspond with the test questions. The examples in your notes are much easier than what you will see on the test. She is one tough grader. You won't get points for showing work only for the correct answer. If you wanna pass, do the book work and all the worksheets.
I've taken Andrea twice; one for summer class and one during an average semester. She's... unexplainable. You walk into class and she hands you notes so you don't have to take them; explains it to the point where you understand; and then the test comes and she throws questions at you so completely random from lecture its beyond me.
She will give you note packets which makes note taking a breeze. However, her test questions are often harder than most of the notes. Doing the homework is highly recommended in order to succeed. Overall, she keeps you interested during lecture and if you work for it, you should do well in her classes. She will go the extra mile to help you.
She gives great notes and keeps the class engaged. She has several quizzes which encourages you to do the homework. Tests are not hard if you do the worksheets. She is very experienced and organized. Do the work and you will do fine. The final was easy if you did okay for most of the class.
From day 1, I knew this woman was something else. Little did I know she would end up being my favorite teacher. Without her thorough and audible lectures, I don't know if I would have made it this far. This class is by no means the toughest math class out there, but it will require plenty of out-of-class effort. She takes attendance very seriously.
She is very outgoing and makes it easy to pay attention. She also is very helpful and understands that we all are not mathematicians. Math is not my strong suit but her class wasn't bad. I defiantly recommend her as a teacher.
She gives you an illusion that she's nice & that she explains well, but in her exams, she pulls questions out of thin air instead of ones like the text & notes. Im a straight A student, so I spent my time learning & working the problems many times only to get a D on exams. I withdrew from that nightmare class. Wish I had never taken Trig with her.
I had her a couple years ago for Calc 1-3. The more classes I took by her, the more I understood how she worked. She was a very nice lady, always there if you have a question. Never be afraid to ask. She wasn't an easy teacher. She wants you to challenge yourself. Homework was never collected, so if you wanted to do exceptionally well, do homework.
Expectations are clear from day one. She gives you 6 exams including the final. About 7 quizzes that are either take-home or in-class. If you don't study, you're clearly not going to pass, same with attending class. Material starts out easy, then gets really tough but in the end its easy again. She's quite funny, demented sense of humor.
If you're very talented in math you'll love her. If you've always struggled in math despite working your hardest in class, you're not going to do well in this prof's class because the course material is completely different from exams. I'm weak in math, so from the start I made Trigonometry my food, air, + water and yet I was still failing exams.
If you struggle with math, even a little, take Professor Vorwark. She explains things thoroughly and her goal is to help you pass the class. She sends out the answers to the tests the same day that you take it. This helps you see what you missed and how to get the correct answer. She is very strict on attendance. One of my favorites so far!
GREAT Teacher! Gives lots of quizzes and several tests. No homework assigned, but you better work the problems so you know what is going on. Ms. Vorwark is the best. No way I could have passed this class with a different teacher.
Andrea was such a great teacher. She's very interactive with her class which is something that I like from a teacher. You can tell she loves math and she's great at teaching it. I wish I could take her for math 120 :(
Took Calc 1,2 and 3 with her. Vorwark knows material very well. I believe she genuinely enjoys her job. She is always willing to help with any questions. Make sure you do the homework and know how to do it. Tests are quite similar to reviews. Solid teacher, just don't slack. Her grading is fair. Partial credit where deserved.
Andrea is an amazing teacher. I am terrible at math yet she is making me feel so confident in my work. Test can be a bit off sometimes but you can still pass...
I loved Andrea. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Her notes were fantastic and I still use them as reference in my math classes now. She gives you every opportunity to do well all you have to do is show up and study.
Vorwark is an amazing teacher. She makes sure you understand the material and helps you whenever you need help. Definitely study for the quizzes they really help your grade. I took this over the summer so it was only 8 weeks. Alot of studying but it was worth it. She does not make you do homework but it really helps prepare for the tests.
Professor Vorwark helped me believe in myself and I think that is partially what helped me pass this class. I am not a math person, it is a very hard subject for me. Professor Vorwark puts SO MUCH energy into helping her students. She is one of the Professors who is truly here for the students.
No matter how hard I try, i will always get a negative result back. Her test are similar to the reviews but she is a tough grader. She goes way to fast on notes during lectures and makes it more harder than what it really is. You're best with another teacher or watching youtube videos to help you understand better.
Tons of quizzes and tests. First two classes were okay but after that, she dives in pretty fast to complicated material. She doesnt slow down and if youre not paying close attention even up until the last class you will probably fail.
Andrea is a really good professor. She explains topics very well. She also provides lecture notes for you, so that way you can pay attention to her instead of your paper in front of you. Cell phone noise will have you asked to leave the room, which I appreciate, as I get annoyed by ringtones and vibrating going off.
Ms. Vorwark is such an amazing professor. She explains subject in a detailed manner. Also, care about students on what theyre not getting. 100% recommend taking her.
I really enjoy Dr. Vorwark's Calc I class. During lectures she regularly asks if everyone understands and will stop to explain. She is funny and loves what she teaches, which is refreshing. She has strict rules regarding cell phones, and is a tough grader but is clear about her expectations regarding specific notation in work. Do the homework!
After having a tough Calc 2 course, her Calc 3 was a breeze. The exams were pretty tough but the lowest I ever received was a 98. She makes them out of 105 so there's room for extra credit. Very helpful and answers all questions in a caring manner. Definitely recommend. Less stressful than Calc 2, but don't slack off and be lazy.
I am TERRIBLE at math and have a lot of anxiety around the subject. Mrs. Vorwack was probably one of the best professors I have had in any subject. She was so helpful and quick to provide feedback. The class wasnt easy, but I came into it with very little experience and knowledge, and left with confidence to be able to tackle Algebra 120.
Andrea is simply the most amazing instructor that has ever existed. She literally wrote her own book for students so they didn't have to pay outrageous fees. If that doesn't tell you what type of person she is, find something else to do. Simply amazing, caring and so smart, I absolutely adore this woman and her positifve energy.
I HATE math. But I made it through this class with the help of Prof. Vorwark. The class is incredibly fast, so you HAVE to keep up or you will fail. Lots of quizzes, and lots of tests. Make sure to ask questions, and attend class. She is super nice, and is a good teacher. She even designed her own textbook, so its only 10.00 dollars. 10/10!
Andrea is the best professor I have ever had. I took Calc 1, 2, and 3 with her and couldnt have been happier. She is a kind, caring person, and her love for math is infectious. You definitely dont want to miss her lectures! Im a math nerd, so I really appreciated that she explained concepts and theory instead of plug-and-chug. Shes awesome!
No homework required, but she tells you which book exercises you should do to practice. Grade comes entirely from 6 quizzes, 5 chapter tests and the final. She makes herself available and class time is dedicated to questions from students. If you aren't successful, it's because you didn't make use of her. She gives partial credit when appropriat
Best instructor at MCC. Extremely organized, kind and professional. I took her for Math 95, where she had taken the time to write the book so her students didn't have to pay a ridiculous amount. She will be a highlight of your time at MCC, definitely take her!
Is the easiest teacher to cheat in there class. Just put stuff behind the video recorder. There is no monitoring of your environment. Easiest A for Calc II, would take again.
Easiest teacher due to the fact that she doesn't monitor her test. It's literally as easy as putting the stuff on a window seal. Very good experience when you literally don't have to work.
Andrea is one of the easiest Calc professors I've had. She's very kind and very dedicated to teaching math. No homework, but she has suggested problems you should work out. The grade is made up of quizzes, 5-6 tests, discussion posts, and the final. As long as you do the suggested problems and study, you should be able to pass the class with ease.
This professor truly cares and is so kind. She is extremely organized and dedicated to her class. You have recommended homework to be successful. The best and most helpful math professor I have ever had at MCC.
These responses are trippin because she failed me even when I tried my hardest and got a tutor.
Possibly one of the best teachers at MCC. She is excited every day to teach Calculus and has a genuine passion for it. Understands students needs and is very lenient when it comes to in or out of class issues. If you want to take Calculus at MCC, I very highly recommend her.
I took Calc 2 via Zoom. Andrea is a caring instructor and has a passion for teaching Calculus. Though this is not an easy course, if you attend class and watch the lectures... you should be fine. The only thing I did not like was watching pre-recorded lectures on our own time and just going over questions during a 2 hour and 15 minute class.
If you take this class online it's basically self learning through MLM; you learn through readings and videos and all homework, quizzes and tests are through MLM. Andrea is there to answer any questions you may have over the material. Ask questions and show effort you will pass the class.
If you need added help don't take this class. Does not take time to break down further, goes fast, and test heavy. Insensitive to ADA Accommodations. Never taking this prof again.
I legit had to learn everything all by myself without any of her help. She made things way more complicated than they should have been, which stressed me so much. We had quizzes all the time and she would work super fast-paced where I couldn't catch up with any of the quizzes or anything. Now i was to retake this class!
She's a passionate professor but a little too passionate. She wants the students to be mathematicians just like her. Grading tests and quizzes very harshly. Would not recommend this professor if math isn't really your thing or just trying to get by if it's a prerequisite for your major. Her teaching is really self-learn-based.
She does not teach concepts in class and then on tests will give the hardest material from the book. I was not prepared for this and although I should've done better ended the class with an F. I took another teacher the next semester and ended with an A. Unless you are prepared to teach yourself I would not pick this teacher.
Professor Vorwark is incredible. This class was SO hard for me, but she was super responsive and available for help. She very clearly lays out expectations as well. There's 3 proctored exams, but all the quizzes and homework you can obviously use your notes on. There were lots of tears (lol) but I'm so thankful I had her as my teacher.
She doesn't give the idea that she knows the material herself. Asking about most things will have her lead you to a tutor or Khan Academy rather than try to help you out herself. She seemed to treat my class as a guinea pig for some new proctoring software which she seemed about as clueless as we were about it. Withdrew in time to avoid a bad grade
She provides her own study guide to go off of, which she makes cheap on purpose. You can print them in the library instead of going through the bookstore who will just rip you off. Works slowly and tries to make sure you catch on, but won't linger. Not opposed to making up examples to help you understand. Homework aplenty but that's for the best.
She is good if you are a visual learner but she moves very quickly so it's easy to get confused or lost. Also if you miss one day, you're kind of screwed unless have someone else to help or you can try to teach yourself. There are no assignments so you are only graded on the quizzes and tests, if you're a bad test taker wouldn't recommend.
SHE'S AMAZING!! Absolutely cares about not just calculus, but her students too!! She's very understanding and takes calculus at a pace the students can understand, even if a hiccup ruins the schedule. She's extremely accessible if you have questions about the homework or course, and questions just related to the course! I love Dr. Vorwark!
If you are looking for an online class, I recommend enrolling with her. She is always open to answering any questions you might have and is very polite. There were interactive assignments, homework for each of those, three projects, quizzes, discussion boards, and a final exam. Keep track of the due dates and you'll be okay! The best out there!
Awesome professor! She always has quizzes to ensure you do the homework and understand the material. I would definitely recommend taking her for calc! The test somewhat aligns with the review but is a little harder and has more questions.
Professor Vorwark was great, make sure you do the homework but as long as you participate and put some effort in you will be alright. Go to her office hours, she is great!
I definitely recommend Prof. Vorwark. I took this class online in 8 weeks after I withdrew from my in person one which was extremely hard and compared to that class this one was a breeze. She gives a clear grading rubric and it's overall easy. There were 3 exams and 2 were proctored. Make sure to turn everything in on time because it will add up!
Answers emails and grades very quickly. The eBook for Math 120 is terrible-things not working, errors and questions out of order-this is NOT her fault and she can't do anything about it, but understands these things are very frustrating. There is a little bit of extra credit, and she drops your lowest quiz score, so don't worry too much.
