Laid back, helpful, and funny. I would definitely take him again for another math class.
math is never easy. Especially when you have "mymathlab" involved. I feel like prof bazos understands that and does his absolute best to accomodate. He goes slow and explains well in a way i can undersatnd with many moments of humor thrown in. i wish i could have him in my next course
Professor Bazos keeps the lectures interesting and gets the information across in a clear and concise manner. He is an easy guy to talk to. He is one of the only Stats teachers that doesn't require a TI-84; however, i recommend using a Ti-84 because it can be rather frustrating using a normal calculator. He uses Mystatlab which I personally like.
Mr. Bazos is great. He was a good teacher, approachable and funny. Math isn't my favorite subject but I enjoyed this class!
I will take Professor Bazos any chance I get. He is an awesome instructor who looks and acts like Adam Sandler!! Super helpful and not intimidating at all. He doesn't make you feel dumb if you don't understand something. Hands down my best math instructor ever.
Great teacher! Explains math in a way that is easy to understand.
Professor Bazos, (Or Andre as he prefers) The man is fair, but stern. He assigns a fair amount of homework and you'll find yourself using foul language to describe him while doing your homework. With that said, he cares about his students. He will help you if you put in the work. No lazy people. You get out what you put in. Andre was awesome!
Bazos was very kind, VERY approachable, very willing to work with students, and grades fairly. He tries to give you as much credit as he can on tests as long as you show your work. Homework was mainly online (MyStatLab) with some minor, do-able excel projects. If you are ever unclear on a certain topic, don't hesitate to ask!
Bazos was a really awesome teacher! Super funny. Even brought the class KFC. He wasn't very strict (unlike the math lab) and gave clear lessons that were easy to follow. There's homework due once a week, and the book was mandatory. Overall, great class.
great professor. very helpful. very clear teaching style, you will learn the material front to back. not an easy grader but if you pay attention in class, you will have no problem.
Andre is super funny and laid back which makes the class all that better. We do homework on Mystatlab every other night and have four major tests. Paying attention in class is key to understanding the material; don't just read the book. He is always willing to answer questions and lets you do two extra credits towards your grade.
I had him for Trigonometry and he is a Great professor, always willing to help. Sometimes confusing when he lectures so you need to ask questions if you are lost. Has a great sense of humor. His test corrections are helpful and are great way to learn what you did wrong on the test and an easy way to raise your grade.
i took professor bazos for stats and actually enjoyed it (as much as someone can enjoy a stats class). his lectures can be boring, but he plays off of what students give him and if people get into what he's saying he really has a pretty funny sense of humor. i'd for sure recommend his stats class, he's super helpful and offers A LOT of extra credit
super cool guy, definitely take him. if you want to save yourself a lot of pain buy a graphing calculator :)
Andre was a great professor! His humor made the lectures worth while. Do your work, homework and show up to class and you will be fine. I highly recommend!
very helpful, after this class I really enjoy taking math classes, he is a very good teacher, funny, and his classes is not boring, just show up in class, do homework and lab is very important for him
He's such a COMPASSIONATE and LOVING teacher. He's always there to help!! For the final day of class, he bought pizza for everyone. He gives extra credit too! If you miss a day, make sure to have at least 2 other classmates phone number. It will come in handy for questions regarding math problems or assignments. #1 TEACHER! DEFINITELY TAKE HIM :)
Andreas is a really funny and nice guy, and very approachable. That said, most times I approached him his advice was not very good or he missed what I was asking. He also often skipped sections because we were behind and expected you to do the homework on it anyway and put those on the tests. Nice guy, but don't take if you struggle with math/stats
I love this professor. I think he is most amazing person who motivate you a lot. I love going to class because its so much fun. Trust me after taking this class i can said math is fun. Take class with him you going love him a lot.
Hands down one of the two best math instructors I have ever come across. Andre is very passionate about his subject, his lectures are clear and include breakdowns of each section for better understanding of how an equation/formula came to be. He makes himself available to help students any time, and is hilarious during class. Engaging and Awesome!
one of the best professors. the fact that he is funny makes the class easy to stand. do expect a decent amount of homework. he's very clear with his lessons and notes. he is very helpful and understanding. if you pay attention you will easily pass. he's a very laid back person and the class period is very entertaining. best professor.
Hands down one of the coolest teachers ever. He cares for your grade and understanding for the class. Do the work and it will pay off.
He's an inspirational teacher who motivates you to do well in the class. Loved having him. I would highly recommend others to take him. You wont regret it. Just do the homework and study for the tests. He cares for you and is very polite. I loved his class and I'm sure others who take him will as well. :)
i love him so much. he is a funny person but bad in English. he actually math fun. I don't think I have class when I didn't laugh. every class he make math so easy. tough on grading test. he is the most coolest teacher I ever know. I cant wait to take him as calculus class. he have office which going help you a lot. he is little lazy on grading
He was an amazing teacher. I had him for Trig and he was really encouraging. If you love cheesy jokes, take him! (Big on MyMathLab)
Andre tries to make a boring subject fun especially through his humor. His online homework assignments can be time consuming. However, your allowed one full page front and back of notes on the test which is the reason I got A's. He also gives you 7.5% extra credit on 2 different tests just for finding a good or bad stat online. Highly recommend!!
Overall, I would honestly say that Andre is a very approachable, and stand up guy. He does have a tendency to get off topic during lectures, but he manages to cover most of the material in homework. Exams follow the homework and quizes which is always nice. Willing to help when questions are asked. I would recommend him to other students! :)
Andrea was one of the best teachers I had. Although the class was hard and you had to study for the tests, he was extremely helpful and gave a lot of extra credit. I would recommend him to anybody. He was super funny and was always cracking jokes during lectures. He would always respond to emails and try to help as much as possible.
Super nice teacher! He is more than willing to help in office hours and in class. He is a tough grader, but just triple check your work!
By far my favorite teacher here. Homework every night but only a few problems. Tests are long but he allows you to use a page of notes which is super helpful. Makes cheesy jokes and is super cool! Always gives easy extra credit for tests and makes sure you really understand the lessons. Take this teacher!
Andre is awesome! However, be prepared to have your brain kicked in by both him and statistics. He is willing to help and genuinely cares about your success. He will make you earn your grade for sure but don't let that scare you! Give him a shot. If you show up, apply yourself, do the handouts and homework, you will make it. Not for slackers!
Andre is a goofy man, but a very lovable one. His class lectures may not be the most thrilling one's out there but at the end of the day he will give you the information you need to pass the tests. His classes are quite easy, as long as you turn up to class and do the homework. He's always there to help and really cares for his students.
Andre is a great teacher. I learned a lot in his class and he's always there for you if you have any questions. Overall I would take his class again.
Andre is the best! His stats class was hard because stats is a hard math class. He really does the best to help make sure everyone understands the material and is always available during his office hours to help with anything. Only frustrating thing was downloading Megastat to my MAC to do the homework, it won't work on apple! I would take again!
Best math prof. I had him at 7 am but he was worth it than a low rated prof. I highly recommend. 3 tests, final. 2 extra credit options for any test that raise your grade to 7%. He really does care for his students and there to help at any time. Take him. Has very organized handout notes and handouts.
Andre is a great guy, funny, approachable. But he gets carried away on his exams and homework and asks crazy questions. Exams are extremely difficult, class average on the first exam was 45%. He isn't shy when it comes to taking away points either (1/2 credit for dropping a negative). If you're a math wiz you'll do fine, if not i don't recommend
He's funny, but not funny when it comes to grading. He will take off ridiculous amounts of points for small errors on tests, but he makes them himself all the time when he teaches. He needs to refresh his Calc skills; he gets confused teaching problems. He also assigns 15+ hours of homework each week, and this is no joke. Tests are beyond difficult
I was fooled by the reviews and decided to take him only to find out the guy hadn't taught calc before. If he's behind on schedule, he'll just cover 3 lectures in one day w/ minimal examples, expecting you to self-teach the rest, finish 30+ hw probs per section and be ready for the exam by next class. Tough grader, smallest errors cost you big.
Andrea is a nice guy. However, his class is insane! Expect 20+ hours doing homework. Expect lecture to be disorganized and he is always making mistakes. He basically lectures then tells you nicely to go learn the confused concepts that you do not understand on your own. You have been warned! Slight mistakes, cost you your whole grade :)
Our entire calc class is extremely bitter and angry with his teaching. The lectures are completely disorganized, he makes so many errors in class while doing problems. Ridiculous amounts of homework (expect 40+ hours a week). If you make a small error on the test he takes off an absurd amount of points. He doesn't even finish examples sometimes.
His 1st semester teaching calc. HW is online, and takes so much time that you end up just filling in the right answer and not knowing why. Has no study guides. ExAmples in lecture are so simple they're boring, while his tests don't match the easyness of his lectures. Took 4 points off a 10 point ? because used (brackets) INSTEAD of brackets
Lacks knowledge to teach Calculus. He has three classes right now, and for those of us who still are left, we LIVE at the math center. We spend 40+ hours trying to do the hw and figure everything out. He assigns way to much hw, we end up just clicking random things just to get through it. Andre has yet to teach me something. Thank you math tutors:)
Andreas is a cool guy outside of class, but his calculus class is terrible. He doesn't know what he's doing. The examples in class are easy, but the examples he gives us in class DO NOT match the test AT ALL. The whole class is always in the Math Center EVERYDAY. He gives 40+ of HW. Basically if it weren't for the math center, R.I.P. to my grade.
His calculus class will make you contemplate life. Expect spending your entire free time trying to understand what's going on. You'll spend so much time trying to keep up on HW and understanding the sections, you might as well live at the math center. He tries to be funny, but they're Adam Sandler level jokes. Tests are beyond hard. Just no...
I would stay clear from Andre. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He is friendly but he assigns way too much homework, does not teach, and has an extremely hard time explaining problems to students/solving the problems himself. Homework is graded, but he takes away too many points for such petty things. About 85% of my class already dropped. No extra credit.
I would not recommend Prof. Bazos. He is very unsure of calculus and lacks the knowledge to teach the subject. Assigns too much homework, and takes points off for such petty details, not realizing he makes errors all the time. Tests are difficult and last test average was a 40%. No extra credit. I do not trust him in teaching us the material.
First semester. Has no clue what he's doing. His tests don't even reflect the stuff we learn in class. We all have to teach ourselves, which results in HOURS and HOURS at the math center. If you're taking other hard classes, good luck putting in all the time you need too. Most people only passing because they've retaken calc.
He is a really nice guy, but he does give a lot of homework and it's really hard to get a good grade in the class.
Bazos is awesome. Don't let these negative reviews fool you. Notice that stack of "awful" reviews that come within days of each other. Bazos assigned a really hard exam, almost nobody passed. But he let us make up the missed problems and gave 40% of the missed points back. He cares about students. He knows Calc. Lots of HW, but do it. You'll be ok.
Make sure to stay on top of the material from day one. What makes his exams difficult is probably not knowing exactly what to study for, the class is heavy on content so it's hard to master everything. Definitely don't recommend taking this class when taking other difficult classes because the class will take up a lot of your time and effort.
If you pay attention in class and do your homework, you'll do fine. But a lot of homework.
Andre is an amazing professor, he is very caring for his students and wants them to succeed. Calculus can be a difficult subject, but his teaching style is thorough and he makes it easy to understand. Definitely recommend!
Andre himself is super nice, and as difficult as his class was it's do-able as long as you put in the effort it requires. No quizzes, just online hw and occasional handout hw, hard exams and an easy final. Keep in mind this was his first time teaching calculus so I'm sure he will fine tune his teaching/curriculum for his future classes. Good luck.
A lot of us were "salty" after the 3rd exam but he made it up by giving us back 40% of the points missed by doing test corrections. This was his first time teaching this subject so he will most likely adjust in the future. A lot of homework to be done but doable. Test corrections can help your grade a bit which is nice. Great guy overall.
The homework is really hard but that's meant to prepare you for the worst things. The tests ONLY get as hard as the material that he goes over in lecture. He grades really hard on the tests but I think it is to encourage you to do the test corrections. You get 20% back of what you got wrong. It's a really hard class but he's very encouraging. :)
He is a tough grader on the tests, particularly regarding grading the work. His class includes a fair amount of homework, generally between 2-5 sections a week. He only has four tests. Based on my success in the class, if you show up, pay attention, and actually do the homework, you will be successful in his class. Would easily take again!
I had Andre for Trigonometry (Math 8). He was a great math teacher who understands what it can be like for the student learning a concept for the first time. He approaches new concepts in a good manner that helped me to understand what the formulas were doing. I feel he gave me a good knowledge of trig for my future calculus classes.
Amazing professor; really cares about her students and obviously loves her subject. Always has a smile on her face. Provides notes for every chapter and thoroughly breaks things down for understanding.
Had Andre for Calc 1 and he was a great teacher. Not stale or boring, has a great personality. There's a lot of online homework, but nothing more than you'd expect from a math class. A physical textbook isn't needed and you could just buy the online access code (comes with an online book that I never used). Very easy to talk to and ask questions.
He is an awesome dude and a great professor. Just like any other math class, there is a lot of online homework. Exams are pretty straight forward and somewhat difficult. Lectures are awesome, cracks jokes, and during the end of the semester he starts to dismiss class way early.
Hilarious and kind professor. Had him for Calculus, there was lot's of homework assigned, but only 4 tests throughout the whole semester(including the final). That sounds fine in theory, but in practice can be very unforgiving towards your grade if you genuinely don't understand a certain topic even with the 20% in test corrections.
He starts the class out with practice problems to see if you understand everything he has taught you then he ask for questions and movers on to the lesson of the day. He makes math jokes as well which makes the class entertained and awake during class time. I would recommend him.
Great professor, doesnt explain some topics too well.
Andreas is an awesome professor. I had him for calc 1 and calc 2 and I would take him again. He really wants to see his students succeed and his passion for math shows in his classroom. His exams are reasonably challenging and he offers some extra credit. A lot of homework is assigned which is helps to prepare for exams. GO ANDRE!!
With those tucked-in button ups and those fresh new kicks he sports, he is by far hottest and sharpest dresser in the math department. To raise our class morale for our finals, he even got a haircut and we were all like "Wow! Hey... that's pretty good." I would tell him everyday, "Lookin' good Bazos!" Greatest teacher, makes Calc 2 a lot easier.
I, Garrett Barcus, hereby declare Math 31, with Andreas Bazos, to be the easiest class at Sierra. This man would walk into the room, make us laugh, and then claim that we'd get him fired. If you have any weakness in math, like math, he will teach you techniques that you can use to succeed. He still hasn't told me who got the 111 on Exam 3. I am #1.
He is helpful towards his students. He gives extra credit out throughout the semester. He is really fun and stupid math jokes and doesnt care if we laugh or not. He is available during his office hours and is really good on explaining .
Failed the first time, it was all my fault, didn't even blame it on Andre. Took his Calc 2 again, simply because he's awesome. He had managed to find the fine line between hard and easy, which made him fair and any mistakes made were all simply my fault. Tests were tricky, final was easy, would take it again.
Having taken Mr. Bazos for 4 semesters, I can say that he has been my favorite teacher at Sierra College. This is a math 31 class, so it will be difficult. The tests are usually 10 to 14 questions, and do a good job to challenge what you remember from the lectures and the homework. His jolly humor throughout the course is always welcome.
Andre is an awesome professor and very understanding person. He have the heart of gold and will be there for you if you ever need anything from him. I took him for Calc 2 and I have not taking calculus since highschool and he make it so easy for me to remember and understand all the concept of calculus. Definitely take his class again.
Amazing teacher, very funny and relaxed attitude. Exams are lecture based so take very thorough notes. Even if you understand at the time, write everything down!! The homework is long but good practice for exam. Homework was all online and the program is expensive- I dont recommend buying the book (didnt even use it), just get the access code.
He is the best professor I have ever had for a math class. He answers all my questions, gives extra credit, and a pretty easy grader. If you understand the concept you dont really have to show up to class, but its recommend. I have one more test and a final, but right now I have a 94 in the class. Math D
This prof is pretty great. level of difficulty really depends on how good you are with math. Andre explained it well and had practice and review days where we could come in and get help before any exams. Was super chill with all his students. If you pay attention and get help when you need it you should have no problem passing this class.
Solid math choice. Tried out a new online homework program that makes it really easy to "work the system" for free points. Explains the material fairly clearly, gives amazing feedback on exams. Really tries to keep his students in mind. Can get kind of vague, but provides a lot of outside resources. Attendance not mandatory, textbook not mandatory.
Andre is a very good professor. He teaches his calc 1 class with the mindset that calc 2 is next. It's important to attend lectures & take good notes. He is funny! Take every opportunity to do in class practice. Homework is good exam practice, it's there to help you. The online textbook was used, so no need for purchase. Go to office hours!
Andre made coming in and learning difficult material a little less intimidating with his awesome humor. Very fair grader. Hes a great example of a professor that knows how to come to the students level and explain things clearly, which is an important part of teaching. Beware, every exam besides the final is trying to trick you contantly!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Andre really cares about his students and always tries to make classes fun and entertaining, as math obviously can get pretty boring. He's great at walking you through how to do problems rather than just making you do them on your own if you're struggling. I highly recommend taking him if you have a chance
A great teacher, who was fun to learn from. Breaks some of the more difficult parts of calculus with easy to remember terms, like blah, blah and Booyah! Would take any class of his again. Exams are 60% of your grade and Final Exam is 25%, no notes or cheat sheets for tests. There was not to much homework, done all online. Easy way to redo problems.
I took Calc. 1 with him Spring 2018. I did not pass however, this was not Andre's fault. A lot happened at home and I bit off more than I could chew academically that semester. He is a good professor and I recommend him. He was always ready to help.
Put in the hours studying and practicing and you should be able to pull a B in the class. To get an A, you can't make careless algebra mistakes on the tests. Bazos is a very fair grader & tries hard to make tests reflective of the lectures. So if you don't go to class or pay attention, you will be surprised by the harder problems on tests.
Andre Bazos is one of the professors who goes above and beyond in teaching students the right way to spell mathematical terms. He should most definitely be an english major and participate in the national spelling bee. He also has the most soothing voice on earth that will put you to a good nights rest during lectures from all of the sleep deprivat
Very Helpful! Always willing to find a way to meet up and give extra help if needed.
Andre is one of the best professors I've ever had. Youll need to work for it, but show that you want to learn & hell go above & beyond to help you. I was terrified of calculus before his class, but he made me care about math & convinced me I was good enough to go further. Hes hilarious & caring & truly wants every one of his students to succeed.
- instant feedback on online HW -online class lectures mirror the exams -(stats) no calculator instead uses geogebra, which is an free online math calculator -free online book -acknowledges group effort -extra credit opportunities -encouraging and understanding - if you do your part as a STUDENT.. you can basically get the grade you want
Took his STATS class at Sacramento City College during COVID. He was super sweet and caring! Really wants all his students to succeed. There is a lot of homework, but he make his lectures engaging and fun, you can tell he is passionate about his job! He is THE BEST MATH TEACHER I've had in my entire school career, made learning fun!
I took Professor Bazos for Calc 1 and I don't think I would have done as well, or learned as much with a different professor. I highly recommend taking him if you are able, even if it means choosing an earlier class. He puts in a lot of effort and will go the extra mile to make sure you succeed. Homework heavy I suppose, but not terribly so.
