I learned a lot in this class. He is a very nice guy who is willing to help his students out. Fair Grader.
hE IS THE NICEST GUY. SO CLASSY AND SWEET. HE TALKS VERY PROPER. I LOOK UP TO AND RESPECT HIM AS A TEACHER. HE IS VERY FAIR AND UNDERSTANDING. I REALLY HAVE NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT HIM. I MEAN YOU HAVE TO DO WORK LIKE IN EVERYCLASS BUT OVERALL IF YOU PAY ATTENTION ITS EASY STUFF.
This professor is great! He is clear and consice and really is eager and willing to help. His test are fair and he posts past test to refer to on blackboard. There is a good amount of work to do, but he spaces it out so that you have more than enough time to do it. Definitely take him!
Speaks very clear, good examples..You will definately understand the material without having to read the text. His exams are straight fwd. very helpful prof. I really recommend him Especially if you like CARS.
Good Prof. Boring at times, engaging on other occasions. The course becomes easy if you keep up with the work, group projects. On exams, follow the slides and look up those concepts in the book = easy A. For those who don't like cars, stay away. Save us the hassle of hearing you whine for 4 months.
Great Professor, very professional. Test are not easy, you need to follow slides and read the book. Fair grader, I quite agree to that. Creates a very comfortable classroom environment. I think he is a very nice and easy going person, just do your work!
Can't say enough about how nice he is. Fair grader, super knowledgeable, interesting, helpful, understanding. Take him! You won't regret it. One of the best professor's I've had at Baruch.
Excellent professor. Very helpful and clear. Makes a lot of jokes when he can to keep the class interesting. Highly reccomended because you will definitely learn. Very respectful and fair grader.
His lectures are boring. Other than that, there is no reason not to take him. He is very fair and does his best to accomodate student concerns. I'm very glad I took him.
TAKE PROF. GREIN! He's a really great professor. I say that because his explanations are thorough, he chooses to interact with his students, he's sympathetic to his students, and his exams are pretty easy, assuming that you look over his past exams which he makes available.
Excellent professor!!! Very clear and very fair. Take him. Just read the book and keep up with the chapters. One of the best professors at Baruch.
This is one of my favorite marketing classes. He is super fair and makes his lectures very interesting. He likes it when you get involved. Definitely take him for this class. You will enjoy it.
Interesting, fair, and student oriented. Take any of his classes.
Can't stand him. He appears nice, but he is the most unreasonable professor I've ever taken in Baruch.
great professor. makes class interesting. exams are fair. definately recommended.
Very good class and professor. Notes are posted online - tests only cover material discussed in class.
The lessons are totally useless. I learned more from reading the book. His entire class revolves around Starbucks. The professor strikes me as someone who has not mastered the subject. At times he evaded questions due to lack of preparation or familiarity of the subject. If you want to learn marketing, stay away from this professor.
Excellent professor, who makes the class highly interactive. Group project and case study proved to be very beneficial to understanding the material that was taught and helped cultivate the learning in class while allowing you to deal with the group dynamic. Exams were basically from the class notes, but the text helped as a reinforcement tool.
Nice Professor, but his quality of teaching lacks the quality and requirements of a Graduate Program. If you want to get an easy A without learning anything, this is your professor.
Easy class, good professor. If you come to class and participate, very easy to get a good grade. The tests are multiple choice and some short answer questions. All based on the slides he teaches in class, fairly easy
Very boring class, even his toen is broing and he seems to like when people kiss up to him. Does not seem very knowledge in his area. I leaned a lot more when another professor filled in for him, the visiting professor knew a lot more and had more current and original ideas.
Very nice professor, remembers your name, the material doesn't stick though. Pay a bit of attention, test is definitely cram-able and is probably best done that way. Do the extra credit presentation!
Nice professor, very approachable. Presents materials clearly, the midterm and the final are based on the slides/book and are fairly hard. Hard grader for the case studies and the group paper. Extra credit presentation is a must!
Really good looking...
This class was interesting and with a certain variety. Material presented very clearly. Not easy on he papers ? true. The guests/substitutes were unusual and fresh. The group presentation and paper scheduled for the very end of the semester almost killed all of us. Otherwise, a well organized class. Good quality professor!!!
Classes were very interactive and interesting. He is well aware of the complexity of the subject and therefore some of his answers might come across vague. You get to learn a lot about the material from the classes, case study, and the group project. As a whole, great class and great prof.
Great professor, interesting material. The class is highly interactive. Try to speak often, it improves your grade. 1 case study, 1 group project, a midterm and a final. He takes attendance during every class. He allows you to do an extra credit project for 5% of your total grade. If you want to secure an A, do the extra credit project.
His class is interesting, I learnt a lot from this class. Exams are not hard if you read the book. But it is not easy to get a decent great bcos its hard to get high grade in the papers and projects. Be sure to ask for the extra credit after the first class. Then you can at least get a b+. Nice professor after all.
Droney monotone and the same endless uninformed, unenlightened pro-corporatist examples. Babbles on about a few pet examples like Starbucks & Home Depot but dare and raise something yourself that does not fit into his plan, be prepared to be ignored or hushed up. He pretends to be casual and breezy but he's intensly controling and demands his view.
Knows his stuff. Class is interesting and materials covered in class will be on the test. Buy the textbook, read it and take good notes because he tests heavily from the book as well. The case studies will take alot of time but if you put the effort into it you'll do fine. Also, participate because he's grades you on how active you are in class
One paper and a group project. Fun class. Midterm and final. Take him!
The class itself is fine. Too much to do on top of a midterm & final (case study & 20 page group paper/presentation) for a 3 credit intro class. Too much importance put on participation & doing extra credit presentations so it's hard to get a high grade if you're not that kind of person. Nothing wrong with the professor though. Could be worse.
very nice guy, tests are fairly easy. the case analysis is a bit tough and the group project is time consuming and lengthy. at times class can be boring, but most of the time its fairly interesting
Very fair teacher. Takes time to explain. Take advantage of the extra credit presentation. Midterm and Final are multiple choice and short answers- easy if you study the slides, use the book for reference. One case study and one group project.
He is the nicest professor of Baruch, very helpful, humble and restpectful. Most importantly very fair. This class is very easy because it provides the very basics of marketing management. You can learn everything by reading the book, but Prof. Grein makes it enjoyable for you. Enjoy the class and professor!
Enjoyable, interesting, funny, organized, professional. The big meat of the class is the case study and the group paper, prepare to be thorough while concise (hard!), analytical, and cite every source. The mostly multiple choice exams are easier by comparison, all based on lecture, though the book helps. He gives you earlier tests ? read them!
Great Professor. Answers all questions and tries his best to make the class interactive. Make sure to participate and ask questions. Organized and well prepared, you know exactly what is coming on the tests as well.
Dr. Andreas Grein is also on youtube. You guys should check out his teaching performance on video and see how, oh well, good looking the man is.
Very helpful professor, will definitively take another class with him if offered.
1 case study, midterm, group paper and presentation and a final. No homeworks. class was enjoyable and easy.strongly recommended. One of the best professors I had in that semester [ Fall,2010]
Very helpful! Tests are from the book guided by the PP's. Do the extra credit presentation if available and talk during class as much as possible!
One of the best and nicest prof in Baruch College! The class was somewhat difficult because of the level. There was a midterm, no final and a group paper& presentation. Also there was a case analysis about Starbucks which was quite complicated but if you ask him alot of questions he will probably help you get a better grade. He is very nice.
Great class. Great material and very clear presentations.
Great professor. Knows his stuff, very helpfull, interesting way of teaching.Learned a lotand it wasfun!
I loved Professor Grein. He is smart, clear, funny and seems to love teaching and the students. I feel like I learned a lot as well. I would highly recommend him.
Exceptional professor. Crystal clear in his requirements and expectations. Get into a good group and this will be an enjoyable class for you. Excellent at explaining concepts clearly and concisely. Goes over theory and mixes in REAL WORLD EXAMPLES! I wish all professors could relate their material to real world applications!
One of the best professors I have ever had. Do all of the assignments, pick a great group and be sure to ask a lot of questions and you will get an A. One exam only and he preps you very well by giving tons of sample questions. Must take.
Great!
Waste of time. Does not motivate students to do well. No positive feedback, only criticism. Only listens if you say what he wants to hear. If you have a point to express is class, get ready for the "yep, yep, yep" he says to shut you up.
Read the textbook! His tests, and slides are based on it. There is mandatory attendance, and participation is encouraged. Midterm and final with both multiple choice and essays, case study (2 pages), and final group paper (20+ pages) with presentation (10 min).
Prof Grein is a good professor who ensures that his students understand concepts before proceeding to subsequent concepts in class. The group assignment was a bit much if you end up having to carry your entire group to complete the paper. I didn't put much effort into the presentation after being subject to that experience!
Great professor! It was a pleasure to take his class. His lectures are clear, and the slides are well put together. Read only what he covers in class, and make sure you do the practice exams. Take good notes and start the group project EARLY. Highly recommend him.
Great Prof who really cares about students. He is really interested in the subject & very approachable. Tests are straightforward if you study (make sure to review all his PP slides and read the book). However, group paper & case study are hard-he's a hard grader. I got an A, but I put in more work than any other class I've ever taken!
This is probably the best professor at Baruch College. He assigns a lot of work but he puts in just as much. You can tell he really cares about the subject. Not boring at all! Would definitely recommend taking him. Definitely not an easy professor though!
The professors is very knowledgeable and passionate about marketing. His class is very engaging. Grade is based on a case study that you dont really get much instruction on what to do and is moderately graded. a midterm and final that is straight info from the slides. group project that is easily graded. overall a great class
Excellent survey course on marketing and marketing management. Prof. Grein made the class interesting and I've already applied several of the concepts in my current job. At times he would keep asking students for the exact answer (word for word) in his head, but I suppose it stretched our minds a bit for the better. Overall a great experience.
Great professor! He is very enthuastic about the subject and makes class interesting. Midtern and Final are straightforward, just study the powerpoints and the old exams that he posts. Class average for the midterm was in the 90's. He is a hard grader for the case study and group paper however. I would recommend this professor
Prof. Grein was great. The tests were very straight-forward, best way to study is to review the older tests he puts on blackboard. He did ask for a very lengthy paper which was a little annoying but I'd def recommend him and this class.
He teaches really well but he can be super confusing in terms of direction , specially for the case study and group project. No clear direction, you walk out with one understanding and find out that it was completely opposite when you get the grades. Tough grader.
His lectures were interesting and easy to understand. He likes to facilitate conversations and welcomes questions as much as possible. I recommend this class even though he is a tough grader. The requirements are a midterm and a final along with a group project and a case study. He also gives an option for extra credit.
2 exams, case study, group proj. He tries to make lectures interesting & just seems like a nice guy; approachable & wants u to excel. Case study is a lot of work when majority class will get 7/10. Group industry analysis project is a lot of work but interesting - START IT EARLY! Study from his old exams (on blackboard) & you'll be alright on exams
Good class, but very unrealistic grading for papers and case study. The case study 90% got 7/10 and what he wanted could not fit into 2 pages. Tests are straightforward and he gives practice tests to study from. Group project can be time consuming. Seems like a nice guy, but a little unrealistic at times.
Seems like a very nice guy, but unable to reign-in low-info students who muddy discussion with inane comments. Unrealistic expectations for case study and group paper. Basically states no less than a dozen times that you will not get more than a 70% on case study. Offers extra credit, but only a few slots available, so skews distribution. Meh.
I'd still need to study for exam but he manages to make large class interactive and makes sure you understand the material. His explanation is easy to understand for intro to business. His exam covers what he teaches in class/slides. You need the book to understand the slides & materials better. Wish I can take marketing/higher level class with him
His lecture was very straightforward and easy to understand. He explains everything easy to understand. His powerpoints are exactly the key points of the chapter that you need to focus on for test. All you need to prepare for the test is to review the textbook based on the key terms written on the ppt.
Great & very knowledgeable guy. I enjoyed his lectures. They were easy to follow & he made use of relevant examples to explain subject matter. Grading criteria's straightforward. 3 test, final, & recitation grade. In order to pass the test, go over his Power Points, thoroughly understand the vocab, & review any charts from the text. Simple as that.
Such an easy class!
Super bright, respectable, and energetic. He'll keep you awake, offer great advice/insight, and make you want to participate. His exams are more focused on the text, however, so don't assume you'll do well without studying just because his lectures are relaxed.
He is stress free, professional, with kind heart, great humor, cares about students. My class had 176 students and during the lectures students were very quiet and focused on prof. Grein's teaching. During the lecturing he blends in a real fact from Wall Street Journal or business news. He is international teacher who even teach in Singapore.
Easy exams if you attend the lectures, pay attention and take notes. Just go through the PowerPoints and make sure you understand all of the terms via looking them up in the text. Know how to apply the terms if given a real life example and its an easy A
Tests are ridiculous Some questions don't make logical sense Even after knowing the correct answer, some of the questions are designed so poorly that I could argue for multiple answer choices being correct in different context
he's a good professor just makes ridiculous exams that could be worded easier as we're supposed to be tested on theories not English
He's a great guy and great professor. You don't have to go the lectures but make sure you study the slides he puts up online. USE QUIZLET to study. 4 exams and drops the lowest one. Do good on the exams and you're valid.
Great professor. He cares alot about his students.
Prof. Grein is a cool professor. He makes the lectures engaging and he gives good real-life examples. His tests could be worded differently because you could argue there's more than one right answer, but overall he is a good professor. 4 tests, but drops the lowest one. if you do good on the first three, you don't have to take the final exam.
He is one of the best business professors at Baruch. His lectures are interesting and uses real life examples to help you understand the material. Tests are not too hard if you study the powerpoints and pay attention in his class. There are 4 exams but he drops the lowest one.
Extremely intelligent and non-bias professor. He has a passion for business, and he fully breaks down hard concepts for you very well. Graded by 4 tests, he drops the lowest. All the answers are on quizlet, so if you study quizlet and read the textbook, easy A. Very accessible outside of class even though it is a large class. Great guy!
Prof Grein is sweet and intelligent. He breaks down confusing material to the core and takes questions in his huge lecture hall. Lecture consists of 4 easy MC exams and he drops the lowest. Don't have to take final if you do good on first 3. Studying his PPs was enough for me, but reading the txtbook can help too.
very nice, easy, study the textbook and the powerpoints for an A.
great professor, makes many jokes throughout the lecture and gives us real life scenarios. Powerpoints were too simple so make sure to read the textbook. 4 tests, lowest one gets dropped. Recitation class is terrible all of those prof are bad. Easy A if you read and listen to the material
He is a nice and organized professor, very clear lecture, enjoy his class, but the exam is not enough time, feel like a race instead of a test, rush to finish everything to compete the time. I feel its not reflect my level of knowledge.
Unless you want to spend the whole lecture listening to your classmates talk about their personal lives that are somewhat related to the material, I would avoid at all costs. Grades everything very harshly without a clear grading rubric.
This class is a great topic but actually the whole lecture just turns in a share space for the class. We would talk about the topic for a little bit and then take the rest of the time listening to other classmates tell their related stories. Dont recommend if you are looking to learn from the professor.
In all honestly, a nice guy but class is really hard to do well in. Average for all our assignments were in the 60s/70s
Class exams very hard for non native English speakers. I dropped class because time not enough for quiz and midterm. Very hard class.
This class does not teach you much, if you would like to learn more about the topic, you are better off just soley reading the textbook.
his grading doesn't make any sense. you can write the correct response for a question but he'll say that this isn't the response he was looking for and give zero credit.
