Good Lord, this guy is the worst professor ever! How he found a teaching job at SDSU, I will never know. Your choices are to either teach yourself (very difficult to do with Finance) or work regularly with a private tutor. I chose option 2 and I'm getting an A because of it.
He's actually an alright professor, but not the best, tutors are a waste of money just spend a couple hours a week and you get easy c or B
Awful. Just Terrible. I learned nothing. He often gets sidetracked. It seems like he is learning the material as he teaches it. Anyone who read the chapter before class could teach as well as he does. This class is a complete waste of time. It makes me sad to be an SDSU student.
He's not the greatest professor, but the class itself was CAKE. Everything is multiple choice and aside from the final (1pg typed cheat sheet allowed), all assignments were done online. Make some friends and do the quizzes as a group. Do yourself a favor and take this class to boost your GPA, it's one of the easiest Finance courses I've ever taken.
He is the best!Take this class and you will never regret. I have a good base now to do my next class. Thank you for the wonderful semester!
Don't believe previous comment from 1/5/2008 that is just below. It is biased as comes from my wife whom he is trying to steal. She never took his course at SDSU.
All powerpoint notes and test questions are from the book publisher. Didnt review the 2 online midterms before we took them. Dean of Fin. said in all his years as dean, he never got so many complaints about one teacher/test. It was his first time teaching class so he might be better 2nd time around.
Honestly... the worst teacher I have ever taken in my college career. A disgrace to the SDSU business department.
Worst teacher I have ever had.I had never done so bad in a class in my life.Had a syllabus, but made up exams & work as class went along.Reads off of the books powerpoint presentation.Hardly works out problems on board. When he does,he gets stuck and says"you guys can do the rest, you get the idea".Test take 6hrs long, online. Nvr knew wat my grade was
definitely the worst prof ive ever had.very indecisive, doesnt know what he wants from his students & you wont know where u stand in the class til the semesters over.DONT TAKE HIM!his tests r online but its not a good thing cuz they take mor than 10 hrs each.he cant teach and isnt even knowledgeable bout fin.hejust reads off thePublishers pp slides
While Andreev is a terrible professor, I think most people are ignoring the fact this is the easiest upper division class at SDSU. Everyone I know got an A in this class. You won't learn anything, but at least will get a GPA boost out of it.
A boring class because he reads off the publisher's ppts. Besides the open-note+book final, ALL the hw, quizzes, and midterms are done online. So less than half of the 120person class showed up to lecture, but the class avg was still a B. So, honestly, the material is dull, but the class required way less effort than other upper-div Fin classes
Even though sometimes He's confusing to understand he really wants to help you with the material and is such a nice person. Lots of homework so better to take it in the summer he lightens the load.
This class has changed significantly so ignore previous comments. NOTHING is done online except for the homework. 2 Midterms and Cumulative final. Start reading the chapters 2-3 days before the exam and do all the homework the day before the exam. Not a hard class but requires time and effort.
Andreev is actaully an accounting teacher that SDSU chose to teach Fin. 323. Big mistake - class is difficult and time-consuming. My friend and I got through it (and actually learned some Finance) by going to see A. Tutor. I highly recommend him if Andreev is your teacher.
super boring, does not have his own ppt slides just uses the ones provided by the book so you really don't get a whole lot from showing up to lecture. most work is done online and there is a group paper. you don't have a choice besides him for 326, at least for now.
Professor was great. He does not hand you a good grade, and caters to those that exhibit hard work. If you are not putting the time in he is not going to care as much, as he shouldn't. It is after business school. I liked him a lot and felt like I learned a great deal from him!
He is not very helpful. Midterm isn't too difficult, but final exam is harder(comprehensive). Not hard to earn a B in the class, but an A will require a lot of studying/reading. One group paper and quizzes.
Pretty easy to get good grades. a lot of reading required. all exams are multiple choice, final is comprehensive. lecture is not very helpful.
i hated this class! hw & group paper were simple, 4 quizzes were ok, midterm was a nightmare, the average was mid 50's & he came in giving us crap for ruining his weekend, not our fault he cant teach! final was a like the midterm! he gave us a practice final...with no answers to it! avoid if u can!
This guy has some serious issues. Homework, quizzes, and group project are all rather simple, even the midterm isn't that bad. The place where this guy truly shines as a grade A db is the weight he awards those who participate in class. He won't mention it, but a whole letter grade goes into participation and makes this class A LOT easier.
I took this class during Summer and I am glad I did! The midterm is the HW questions. Final comprehensive but similar to the midterm. He really likes it when people participate in class discussions. At times he may be a bit hard to understand (accent and spelling), but, overall I enjoyed this class and would recommend him.
Andreev is the man. Sure there is a little bit of work but the material is relatively easy. just go to class, do the HW and discussions, and get to know him and you'll have an easy A.
a clueless professor who have no idea what he's teaching about. homework and participation is easy full points, but looking at him thinking about what to teach really makes you run out of patience. oh do you notice that his syllabus is copied from frank ryan's syllabus?
if an evaluator from sdsu came last tuesday and see how andrei teaches the class (10 minutes of an item search, calculation that he couldnt solve himself, and the pointless teaching) he will be fired for sure. do not take this class at all cost! you're wasting your time
Guy is clueless. Would scribble illegible notes on board..take u through a problem that he realizes in the end he did wrong...Think you figured something out then you show up to class and start listening to him and question everything you thought you knew. Easy participation points-tests are tricky twists wording-duration and foreign exchange.
Absolutely horrible. I would never recommend anybody take Andreev for any class. I originally signed up to take Blum but then Blum gave the class to Andreev. If you have to take this guy run for the hills. Cannot teach, nobody wants to ask questions because they get more confused. All i learned in the class was how to use a finance calc.DO NOT TAKE
you have to do a lot in this course, people who are complaining probably didn;t do the wokr and expect all the knowledge coul've been conveyed by the professor. Andreev is a great teacher. if it comes to calculations he sometimes gets confuesed but at the end he puts it all together (i agree it can be disturbing).everyone is mad cos final was hard.
This guy is ridiculous. He does not explain his calculations that he covers. When you ask a question it confuses him to the point where he stops the problem. If you correct him he tells you your wrong. Also he would not answer questions on the final. Overall, another disappointing SDSU Finance teacher. I had a B+ on BB and got a C on webportal.
This class gives you the opportunity to get 65% really easy. The final is weighted hard 35%, but if you DO the readings, and DO the modules you will get 100% both on the quizes and the mid-term. Final is accumulative, book is about 500 pages, so you CAN'T cram the night before. Showing to class is extremely recommended, in order to clear any cncpts
He's a good guy and willing to sit and talk to each student, but his lectures are not clear and his writing on the board may as well be written in code.. There are two different hw links, and only one is graded, and he failed to mention that in the syllabus which cost me a letter grade. I don't recommend his class.
If you really want to learn something about finance, that's the right teacher to take. He really wants his students to go into this wild world and be successful mature business people. Do all the readings, hws and attend his classes and you should be golden. To all pessimists: look at life through the windshield, not the rear-view mirror.
Best professor I've had at SDSU. He is very insightful and makes every thing easy to learn. Going to class is a must because that is when he explains all of the confusing concepts that you can't teach yourself in the book (he uses different formulas then in the book). Best teacher to teach this course!
He is best professor so far in regard of teaching and he really want you to learn and be able to apply your knowledge in real life. simplify formulas for you, don't use book as much, but shows you shortcuts and how understand them. Too bad it's his last semester at sdsu, professor like him is really hard to find.
Great teacher, really make effort to teach you and wants you to understand the concept. Uses simplify formulas which are easier to use. This professor is one of a kind!
What a nightmare. After long calculations, Andreev will stop make corrections, and keep going on without you. Everyone is left with their head in their hands and it's confusing. Like really, these concepts are hard enough by themselves. He didn't help much.
Overall class is pretty difficult. The math is easy to do however its just more of the concepts and knowing where to use it. He is a good and funny professor and really tries to help out his students. Attend class and his tests are open book and open notes. So print out your hw for tests and youll be good. Ended up with an A-
he promised a curve and did not deliver. the teacher is a little crazy and gets distracked alot during class. his quizzes are kind confusing, but he lest you use notes for them. also, the final and midterm is open book and note.
Very good professor. Sometimes he is confusing but overall he teaches pretty well. The homework and quizzes are generally easy and help you understand the material. The final is much harder than the midterms.
Gives opportunities for points through homework and quizzes. Also gives class participation points. The class can be dry. He does examples on the board with the class instead of just reading from PP slides. He grades pretty hard, for example if you miss one number on a big problem you may get half off. He allows notes and book on tests.
Professor is very helpful, I went to his office several times, he was pleased to help me in things I did not understand. He let bring your notes and book during the exams. Many points for hw and attendance. Sometimes he is confused but overall I was able to understand him. The final is super hard, so try to get a good grade before the final.
Teacher is very nice, but his lectures tend to be unclear and incomplete. There are plenty of points available, so it's pretty impossible to get lower than a C unless you don't show up to class or do the homework. The midterm and final are hard, but he allows the use of notes on both, and the book on the final.
No, just no. Do not take this class it was horrible. I am a very good student and this class was just torture. You cannot understand him, he goes off on terrible tangents and even gets in arguments with kids during class. Worst of all attendance is mandatory.. take someone else, wait a semester if you have to
This teacher can be confused sometimes, but he was patient to answer my questions when I went to his office. Also, every time you go in class, he gives 2 points towards your grade, he also gives lots of point for HW. He let us use books and notes on exams and quizzes only notes. Guys, better than this, you won' find it, this class is tough itself.
Gives open note tests. Not that bad at all got a 95%. If you cannot do well in this class you will have no chance in the higher level finance class. He is more than fair.
A lot of tests. Cool guy. I would take him again.
The course itself I found difficult, lot of concepts. The instructor didn't seem to help make anything more clear. I found myself teaching myself often from the HW and chapter quizzes on line, which seemed very different from the tests he gave. The tests are open note, but I still found myself lost. HW, Quizzes, and attendance is a must to pass.
Horrible teacher. Tough grader. Don't ask questions or he will jump down your throat. Would NEVER take again!
This class is hard because of the material. Professor Andreev is a good teacher and he's pretty funny. You can use notes for everything. The structure of the class is really nice: 7.5% for participation (easy every class), 32.5% for homework (fairly easy), and then 4 quizzes in class (kind of hard), 2 tests (each worth 12%) and then a final (25%).
He explains the sections very bad. He'll spend 20min on something that wouldn't be on the test. He'll spend another 30min explaining how you need to be sharp on the mathematic equations. You need to be "golden" to pass the exams. This is the hardest professor teaching this class.
It's recommended to go to class. It's REQUIRED 2 READ THE ASSIGNED CHAPTERS OF THE TEXTBOOK! The Q's on the quizzes, midterm, & final are about 20% from the homework modules. The rest are tricky questions that were hardly covered in class. U can use notes on quiz/ midterm/ final :) Study at least 2 weeks in advance consistently 2 prepare for them!
The worst part for me to understand is that another finance teacher makes his exams, I believe if he made his own exams his class would be more straight forward also with the exams. Too bad, because I think he is a great teacher
Clicker points every class as the end of class. Quizzes and tests are based off of the assigned homework (print out the homework and bring it to the open note tests).
I took his finance class and it honestly was not bad. The class is challenging but really teaches you a lot about corporate finance. if you seek help, he is happy to help and his office hours really help you prepare for his exams. He has a funny but dry sense of humor.
Annoying instructor. I didn't feel like I was ever learning anything and there was no structure/organization to the classes. Quizzes were random for attendance. Don't take this class. You'll regret it and want to sit in class and write a bad review like me. :-)
Please don't take this class. This person is not a teacher. He spends all his time on power point slides rather than using his own knowledge of finance to teach. He stated and I'm quoting " It's not my job to give you knowledge, just to get through the material. Questions are asked in class and he says "I don't know."
Finance is a difficult class by itself. Prepare to read the chapters several times to comprehend the terminology, theories, and homework. The class moves at a fast pace. There is a lot of material to cover in a short time. Attend class & office hours, take notes, review power points slides, study groups, exams taken from test bank. Good luck.
Got a D- on test 1 (yes I studied, did all the hw, and read the chapters), went to A+ review for test 2 and got a B. If you have to take this class go to A+ review and you'll pass the class like nothing. If you don't go to A+ review good luck passing, very hard tests, VERY HARD.
I am writing this mostly for the finance majors out there. The class is not curved so it you do not get at least 900/1000 points you're not getting an A. If you are not a finance major this class may not be for you but if you actually care about learning finance concepts this class is solid. I ended up with an A but but in a ton of hours.
His lectures are alright but don't cover everything so its a good idea to review the power points and textbook on your own time. The calculation questions on the exams weren't that difficult but the concept questions were. Probably because he doensn't make his own exams. Easy in class clicker quizzes and homework can help boost your point total.
If you want to pass this class or do well in it, take a different professor!!!
I will not recommend him at all. He is terrible professor. He does not explain things right. EXAMS are difficult and plus he does not make his own exams. I am an A student and I am happy that I got a C+ in the class. HE IS TERRIBLE
u need to get all the easy points to make sure u pass at the end (clicker quizzes, hw). doesn't write his own exams, which are really hard. we had to read the text to do online HW but in class he would tell us repeatedly that the text was wrong and to listen to his way instead. argued w/ students during class over dumb things. does not curve class.
My best advice is to choose another professor if you're a business student trying to get your BA 323 credit. His exams do not resemble what's covered in the homework or in his lectures. Homework counts for 20%. He takes attendance by using in-class quizzes which add up to 10% of your grade. HE DOES NOT CURVE. What you get is what you get.
Class was pretty challenging. Study hard for exams. I heard the A+ review helped other students, recommend taking it. Attend the exam reviews he holds, they help a bit. Do all the HW and Quizzes because you will need all the points you need. Professor does not write his own exams, which i believe is unfair.
Avoid at all costs. Had to rely on A+ to pass. He takes one to two, 3 question quizzes every class that count for a grade and attendance. 3 exams and 1 final, that is pretty much exam 3. Awful teacher, makes things more confusing than they are. Disrespectful. Only plus: lots of notes for test! But test time is tight. Hw can boost your grade.
Andreev is okay. His exams were really hard for me no matter how hard I studied for them. I had him one day a week so we only had 3 tests. I failed all three. He can be kind of difficult to understand and students would sometimes argue with him. He was nice and all but his teaching style was not for me. Don't take him if your not a finance major.
Class was fun and I learned a lot. No attendance taken, but a lot of information in his lectures. Go to office hours, he is always there to help. Also, he did curve grades at the end of semester. You learn a lot about about real estate and finance in this class. Test are hard, 3 homework assignments (work in a group), never opened the book.
3 hws and 3 tests, currently in the class and I like it, pretty straight forward, can use 2 sheets of notes on exams which is helpful. andreev is hilarious per usual, if you ask for help, he will extend the effort! would recommend for this class in particular.
His tests for FIN 331 ARE actually based on what is in the textbook/power points which is GREAT (I can't say that for his BA 323 class which I took as well), WOULD RECOMMEND for this class. Grading criteria is very straight forward as is the entire class. He makes lectures very informative and interesting! Take him! 3 homeworks & 3 exams & curves!
Pretty terrible class. Wouldn't recommend.
Overall a pooly taught class. Lots of reading directly off of PowerPoints and meaning lots learning on your own. No study guides for the exams but you are allowed to use 1 pg of notes. Still difficult when the exams cover 8ish chapters. The class has a lot of potential.
I don't think this teacher has much knowledge about Real Estate Finance. It's hard to learn from someone who doesn't understand the subject. He reads directly off of the powerpoints every class. Powerpoints that he didn't create himself.
Get every point you can for this class. I never did well on the exams but because I went to every lecture to get the clicker points and did well on all the quizzes and hw, I passed the class. The professor is no help at all. If this class is not a requirement for your major, I would suggest not taking this class.
This teacher is the worst teacher I have ever had. He does not make his own exams, and he has standardized powerpoints. The worst thing is that he does not provide any knowledge that can be used during the exam. None of the homework does either. When confronted, he just says "the problem is with the course, not me". He does not even read the exam.
100% objective review. You're going to teach yourself this class. The expectation is to have read the entire chapter before class. Reads straight from PowerPoint, *at times incorrectly. Not req. attendance, but will curve you if you're there when he randomly checks. Exams are mostly conceptual. You have to purchase Pearson Access code. Avoid if can
Ill start off saying this is the 3rd course in a row I've taken with Andreev so I have pretty legitimate grounds on which to rate him, and I'm not happy to have to give him such poor marks. You can expect to teach yourself the courses, the lectures are straight off of powerpoints, the tests are difficult and he doesn't write/read them. Get ready.
This guy is by far the worst professor at SDSU. He cannot do the problems he assigns. Do not take.
Professor Andreev is A great professor, but his lectures heavy. He gives you lots of work and your grade is based on homework, 5 clicker quizzes each lecture, and three tests. The tests are extremely difficult.
Super easy, exams are from the test bank, never have to go to class, attendance isn't required. Don't buy his extra credit referral to Wall Street Journal.
if i passed this class, basically anyone can too. Scored a 36% on exam 1 and i thought it was all over. Ended up scoring an 80% on exam 2 by going to A-plus review. Clutched the final by going to A-plus review again and scored a 74% to pass the class. Get all clicker points and score 100% on most hw and quizzes. Still cant believe i clutched a C!
He's not a great professor but his tests aren't that bad. If you want a good grade you're gonna have to put in a lot of work yourself and you're gonna need to make a good note card.
His tests are super hard and most of the questions are questions he's never done on the board before. However, if you do the quizzes and the homework you can manage to pass even if you don't do great on the tests. I averaged Cs and Ds on his tests, but since I did all the hw and quizzes I ended up getting a C+ on the class.
He's not a great professor. He uses the powerpoints that are made by the book and skips through the slides and uses different variables for the formulas. Go to class so that you can get attendance points and write down the formulas the way that he does it. Do the online homeworks and quizzes bcuz you can fail all tests, but get free points & pass
Hes really nice and always willing to help on things you have trouble understanding and an A is definitely attainable if you put in work. I would definitely take him again
This professor is honeslty an ass. Hes one of the only teachers that we can take which is unfortunate because he sucks. He doesnt care about his students and laughs when people ask for help or any basic question. He literally told us on the first day we can only take him because all of classes were full and that dropping was our other option.
This professor does not care about his students at all. He is rude to students as he laughs at questions asked by them in class.
Had him for finance, classmates were FRUSTRATED because he made the class impossible to pass. According to him, you NEED to read the chapters, go to class and take notes. He told us students fail with him but pass with other professors. the subject is hard but this professor sucks and is NO help. students would speak up in class and he'd laugh.
You wont go to class. He doesnt care class, his lecture not make sense at all. Only about 10 ppl go to class. I dont believe he is a good professor.
Andreev is probably the worst professor Ive had in my life. He constantly makes fun of students and his tests are impossible. He sucks at teaching and his way of curving the class is assigning impossible homework assignments that take forever and don't help for tests. Overalll hes just a bad person that seems like he enjoys students failing.
Straight trash, the worst professor at SDSU and it is not close
This class was unnecessarily hard. Andreev only gives you 1 hour to complete 40-question MC midterms & 2 hours for a 60-question MC final, both comprising of many math problems. The HW is tedious yet is only 30% of your grade; rest are exams. Definitely do not take him BUT if you do GO TO A+ REVIEW. Also, he doesn't curve even though most ppl fail.
he's not bad also he doesn't care about a student if they attend the class or not he is not that good, but he's the best one for BA323
Nice guy, wouldn't wanna learn from him again though. Lectures are almost pointless. Only reviews questions on homework and doesn't teach, expects you to learn each week from the textbook. I passed this class because of A+ review for every test. (Only class I've ever had to do that for) Not enough time on the tests. Overall, pretty frustrating.
I took Professor Andreev for FIN 323, FIN 326, FIN 331. Professor Andreev will answer any question you have, in class, after or over email. Class structure is simple. The lectures may seem boring because the class has to be taught at a level for everyone to understand. I am now in the financial services industry and am so grateful I took him for 3
I took Professor Andreev for FIN 323, FIN 326, FIN 331. Professor Andreev cares about you passing and understanding, if you care! Clear grading criteria, no hidden surprises. Curves every test. Great for finance majors & all business majors. Attendance is not really required but lectures are interactive and he will answer any Q. He is very smart.
He is the worst professor in SDSU like for real. He doesn't teach anything so don't expect to learn some material about finance in this course. He is a nice guy but he doesn't care about his students AT ALL. I don't know why he ain't ever get fired. Oh and also, he doesn't know how to use Zoom either.
So Professor Andrei is a good guy. He is pretty down to earth and straight forward. His tests (during covid-19 times) are taken on zoom with camera on. It's a little weird to do because he'll call people out during the test for suspicious behavior. This was pretty distracting, but it wasn't the end of the world. His zoom lectures aren't so great.
Not great with technology considering everything is online. Students are easily confused and he gets upset that the students don't understand the material. Argued with students, not helpful when students asked questions, and would disregard some student concerns when it came to the testing format. Also has a very weird testing format.
Andreev is a nice man, but sometimes a confusing professor. His lectures can be confusing, but he has the best intensions. I know I could have gotten an A if I put in more effort. His tests are open note and open web so that was pretty awesome!
He's a really nice guy and has good intentions. I feel that most people who dislike him are people who need to be hand held by another adult. Do the work, read the syllabus and you'll be fine. He also allows for open book use on quizzes/exams.
BA 323 is a really hard class, and each chapter gets harder. But professor Andreev is really nice and funny. He understands that sometimes the topics get really hard and need more practice, and that's why he keeps saying "NO BAD DAYS" I always remember this sentence and know everything will be fine. He has 2 midterms & final exam & homework.
Andreev is one of the worst professors at the school. He is unclear when he is lecturing and if anyone asks a clarifying question he gets extremely mad that you do not know the material already. He acts as if you're supposed to teach it to yourself. One time in class he even said "I am not here to teach you", and that was not taken out of context.
Didn't know professors came this bad. Here's some quotes: "I'm not here to teach you", "I'm just here for my paycheck", "laugh at your confusion now, cry later", "I'm the worst professor you could choose, you're all just here cuz my class didn't fill up".. he didn't take a students test because he was a minute late and I've never learned a thing :(
He's the worst finance teacher at SDSU. DO NOT take his class
I definitely don't recommend taking this professor. The way he explains things is really difficult to follow and I honestly leave lectures feeling more confused than I was before. The only way I've done OK in the class is by teaching myself through the textbook and watching YouTube videos on Finance. Tests aren't too bad if you understand the book.
Andreev is the WORST professor I have ever taken. He always tells us that it is not his job to teach us, so we had to teach ourselves. Honestly, if you have more options skip Andreev. If you have no more options, do a favor to your GPA and go to A+ review.
awesome,One of the best professor in finance, you need to show that you care about what you study and do your reading and homework , ood examples and he is best for people with finance major. Gives good examples and questions, good lectures and tough exams.
One of the best professor in finance, you need to show that you care about what you study and do your reading and homework , ood examples and he is best for people with finance major. Gives good examples and questions, good lectures and tough exams.
He speeds through the coursework so you are left in the dark, he will laugh and berate you for not knowing something. He mocks you if you leave class early. Overall he doesn't care about you or his job. I spent so much time teaching myself the coursework my other grades dropped. I dropped this class to pass my other classes. DO NOT TAKE HIM
It was extremely tough. Lot of homework, lot of quizzes, tests make up 60% of your grade. Hes extremely non descript on what his exams were about - Leaving you to study the entire module because he will test you on something youve never seen in class before. Not a great explainer. This is a self study teacher, you dont really need to show up.
Andreev is by far the worst professor I have ever had. His lectures are pointless because he doesn't actually teach anything. He is very rude and makes you feel dumb if you ask a question. He recently cussed out a student right before a final because he didn't have his Red ID. So much homework that doesn't even help u study for the test. Awful!!!!
Does not teach for the exam. Is extremely difficult to follow in class and does not care if his students are failing until it reflects poorly on him at the end of the semester
Very bad at explaining things
He does not explain well at all. You will bond with your classmates over a semester's worth of confusion.
I have never been more frustrated in a class. Lectures do not make sense because he is very hard to understand. He jumps from one topic to the next without finishing what he was explaining. He does not lecture on the entire chapter before the homework is due. I would not recommend taking his class. I have had to learn most on my own. He is rue.
I Have never been more confused in a class. Tests are COMPLETELY different than homework & hes not very good at explaining during lectures. He recently completed a few homework problems with us in class and he struggled to get some of the correct answers?! Not sure how SDSU is even allowing him to teach. Just take a different professor.
Normally I take RMP with a grain of salt but this time I wish I paid attention. If you cannot find another professor, you are better off waiting another semester. He does NOT teach and homework does not prepare you for the exams. You can study a week in advance and still will not be prepared for the exam. Exam avg is D and he does NOT curve
If you study you can pass. He is a nice person and is understanding but just not a good teacher. If you do the homework and study then you will be fine. You get a cheat sheet for each test. I have him for two classes and I both got A's. Don't rely on him for help though.
Hardest class of my LIFE. Lectures were unorganized & impossible to understand, tests were incredibly difficult, basically self-taught w hard hw. I barely passed & still don't feel confident on the topics. I've never gone to A+ review before but for this final, it was absolutely necessary. This man & this class will forever haunt me in my sleep.
Very good professor! This course really helped me to understand finance in a professional way. Professor Andreev was responsive to my questions, comments, and concerns, and encouraged and supported my learning. Thank you
This class was def not easy. It starts off pretty slow and then gets pretty material heavy. Be ready to use your financial calculator ALL THE TIME! He cares a lot about his students so if you ever need help he is always there. Great Russian guy who has a lot of life experience. He has a good story every lecture. Great teacher overall! Will miss him
I never write reviews...but this professor is the worst. His lectures are not organized, he's way of teaching is extremely outdated. The overall system he uses is not efficient nor easy to remember. I decided to drop the class because I was investing so much time to learn by myself that my other classes were negatively affected by it.
This is Jospeh Stalin descendant, he rules this class with an iron sickle and will struck you down with a hammer. Hes lazy, The test are not related with the lecture HW and the book. He will sent you to the gulags if you dont put in ur RED ID on the test.
Horrible teacher! Take someone else and save yourselfs. His lectures go offtopic and most of the time what he says is not related on the tests. Only 3 Tests! 2 worth 150 and the last one worth 300. So stupid.
I just finished FIN250 in Fall 2023. Overall the class was fine. The homework readings cover 100% of the class, and the only things you get from the lectures are attendance points which can be done online, and random examples. It was a very enjoyable and easy class and I think everyone should take it. Just be prepared to teach yourself.
If you are fine teaching yourself from the textbook and then taking tests that don't relate to the textbook, then this class is for you. He is unorganized, to say the least; he uses the PowerPoints that were already made by book publishers and then picks a few slides to teach from. I studied my butt off for this class. I don't recommend his class.
The absolute worst teacher on this campus. Be scared to ask questions because he will try to make you uncomfortable and send you to the gulag. Please save yourself from depression and anxiety. If you hate yourself, then this the perfect class for you
Overall he is pretty straight forward, he doesn't teach you stuff that you're not going to use, tests are hard but he won't put something you didn't see on the class.
Those 5 star reviews have got to be fake. Honestly, treat it like an asynch class because his lectures will not help you at all, they will just make you more confused. Nice guy though imo.
Not a bad class. Professor does ramble a lot and never ends class on time. You get a cheat sheet for your exams, so if you do that well you'll score decently. Lots of material though.
By far the worst teacher at SDSU. He messed up 3 questions on one of the tests and didn't give points back even tho there were typos. He gives super boring lectures and doesn't know what he's talking about. People will ask questions and he'll tell them to read the book.
This professor is by far the worst I've ever had in my educational history, none of his in class lectures taught the class anything. Most of your learning in this class with strictly be through the Cengage homework, his outside hour long COVID-19 zoom lectures that he makes you watch and quiz on. You will hate yourself taking this, A+ and Cengage..
Worst education experienced. Book-taught, then straight to high-weighted tests, with no math work practice. Lectures are distracting compared to test. Inability to communicate effectively, losing me on expectations. Discussion questions are a joke. No math practice to actually learn. He's irresponsible in self-reflection. Ego-driven, not worth $.
This professor gives extremely boring lectures that majority of the class leaves during the break. Be sure to study the chapter quizzes for the exams as a few of the questions that are on those quizzes are on the exams. Not sure why he made the smartbook assignments due at 7am the day of class but it caused me to miss two. Doesn't curve either. GL
I already took him in BA 323 and that class was so much harder than this one, this class is graded by smartbooks, quizzes, and tests, the quizzes have unlimited attempts and some of the test questions come from the quizzes.
Tough class and some struggled with his lectures. I get it. It's not his strong suit. However, he went out of his way for students when issues came up. Also created extra credit opportunities that reduced overall weight on exams. He curved exams based on how class did. Always responsive to emails and I appreciate his commitment to the student.
he wasn't too bad for FIN321, the content of the class was mainly covered by the textbook and i thought lectures barely added to it. exams are not difficult and he lets you have a cheat sheet (front and back). uses smartbook and also tophat. overall, textbook-heavy but easy and manageable
By far the worst I've had at sdsu.
This guy actually is the worst teacher I have ever had since I started kindergarten. Whatever you do do not take this guy, it is easier to teach yourself the material than listen to this guy's lectures.
Legitimately couldn't learn anything from his lectures and I really wouldn't even bother going. He does top hat for attendance during the lectures but you can do them when you aren't at the class. He literally just laughs to himself the whole class and will be stuck on one problem for the whole class. Every other ba323 professor is better.
Trying to follow this guys lecture is like trying to navigate your way out of the Amazon Rainforest while your blindfolded with your hand behind your back and you weigh 300+ lbs. Literally the worst lecturer I have ever had. Bounces back and forth between topics so much you don't even know what you're learning anymore.
Worst professor I've ever had. He knows the material well, but is not good at teaching others. Lectures are a waste of time bc he doesn't actually teach anything or go over full practice problems. He is either tired of teaching, or was never good at it to begin with. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE!
Day 43 of going to his lecture: Still haven't learned a single thing. I would rather fights joseph stalin in the gulag than attend another one.
Probably one of the worst professors I've had at SDSU. His lectures are unclear af and majority of the class didn't show up to lecture unless is was test day. Tophat is used for attendance but you don't even have to be there to answer the questions. I would recommend reading the text book because he sure as heck isn't going to teach you anything.
Arrogant and condescending when you ask questions or get something wrong. Lectures are not helpful to understand the material. Study the homeworks for the tests. Grade is based on some cengage assignments and the exams. Double sided cheat sheets allowed. AVOID HIM.
Taking BA323 with this professor is like navigating a minefield - you'll need all the study tools you can get, like unstuck study, to survive. Lectures are a hit-or-miss, so focus on the textbook and Cengage homework. Tough grading, but if you stay on top of it, you can pull through.
I read every. single. word. of. the. textbook. About 3hrs of hw a week, 50% of your grade based on 3 exams he fails to prepare you for (no makeup dates either), makes you buy a $60 calculator you don't really use, and he'll laugh at the questions you'll ask. The only good thing is you get extra credit for attending class. Don't take this class.
this is my 2nd time taking him & ending with an A both times. don't be lazy and you'll be fine. go to lectures, he tells u what will be on the test and its gonna be way harder to do the work on ur own. the material is not even that difficult... read the book, watch his lecture videos before class, practice the hw for tests. plus cheat sheets.
Attendance in class is extra credit. Two midterms and a final. Two pages of notes are allowed on the midterms, and four are allowed on the final. The homework is textbook readings, which can be pretty long but they prepare you well for the exams. Skim reading the textbook should suffice. I found him funny and nice.
The content is difficult, and although he's good at teaching, there's a lot to cover. His lectures only ever cover a few of the more difficult topics from the chapters, which isn't even close to everything you need to know for the exams. Read the textbook and practice the questions at the end of the chapters, otherwise there's no way of passing.
Lectures unproductive. Hes rude. Hard class and never taught us how to use the calculator
His teaching was terrible. Half the stuff he would do in lectures wasn't on the exam and was a waste: strict marking and horrible teaching. I would not take it again
Honest review: this man should not be teaching. Avoid taking his course at all costs, he is a confused old man who is a terrible communicator. If you're stuck with him, my only advice would be to use class time to take notes the textbook. You're going to have to anyway since you won't learn anything from his lectures.
I am in the bad place, and this man was sent by the actual devil. This man claims to have a curve, but it's actually just top hat points 30/30. This man doesn't understand what students are asking him and is so unhelpful. Tests are on topics I can't even find in the textbook, and he regularly says we will fail...and he's not wrong.
Not many assignments, claims attendance points are a curve, does not teach what is on exams, ends class early because he says there's no hope for us, tells everyone to withdraw because we all will fail, he joked about jumping in front of the trolley and I am seriously considering joining him because of this class
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF! Genuinely never had a worse professor in my life. Not enough time given for tests. Homework, textbook and lectures are COMPLETELY different from the exams. He has no curve. In class, his spelling calculations are often wrong making it very hard to understand. He is also very rude when students voice concerns. Don't do it.
I genuinely really enjoyed having Andreev as my 331 professor. He does ramble but he is very knowledgeable about real estate and the amount of information is manageable. You get cheat sheets for exams and he is more than willing to help you after class. Plus, learning to use your financial calculator will help you in other classes as well.
"DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF! Genuinely never had a worse professor in my life. Not enough time given for tests. He has no curve. In class, his spelling calculations are often wrong making it very hard to understand. He is also very rude when students voice concerns. Don't do it." just horrible will get mad at you if you ask questions.
Grades out of 1000 points, 3 Exams, first 2 are 150 points, final exam is cumulative and worth 300. Exams are nothing like the homework or lectures. Only goes over math problems in class and most of the exams are what if scenarios and barely any math problems. Do not take this class unless you are prepared to teach yourself everything.
Well he's a man of his own way, class notes were all over the place showing us an example, erases part of it then continues through. In the beginning of the semester, he lowkey roasted students for asking questions. He has us take a look at his old Zoom class lectures; I'm near the end of the semester, nv understood for what. Retaking this class.
Professor Andreev was a very good professor, his grading was clear, he responded to emails quickly and he was very helpful in office hours. I also learned a lot during his course.
Don't let the bad reviews fool you. The course material is not difficult, but rather great in abundance-finance is a very broad topic. This professor does his best to teach difficult concepts, lets you review exams to understand the concepts you missed, and gives a decent amount of extra credit just for attending lectures. I enjoyed it.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS!! This was genuinely the worst class I've ever taken. The homework and lectures didn't coordinate at all with the exams. He glossed over everything while he read over slides and would skip slides. Forgot to bring the final on final day, and told us it was all OUR fault, that it was a WE problem. Should be fired imo.
DON'T take this professor. For starters he glosses the slides that are already a condensed summary of each chapter in the text book and basically rambles on about stuff. Homework is nothing like the exams and there's just so much of it it gets annoying. On finals day he forgot to bring the final exam and rambled on on how its our collective fault.
This instructor lacks clarity in lessons and explanations. Lectures were confusing and failed to cover key concepts, forcing students to self-teach most of the course. Expectations were unclear, and there was no grading curve despite the difficulty.
Andreev wasn't rude in my experience, he just will not go out of his way to help people I will say. The class itself is pretty tough. I didn't have an idea of what he was talking about half the time since he would ramble on about random stuff. Two exams 150 pts each, final (cumulative) was worth 300. Attendance was taken online in class on top hat
Lectures are a waste of time; you can secure your attendance points online through tophat. Exam questions were never covered during the lectures or in the textbook. He was kicking students out of the final for not having their student IDs and telling them they have to retake it next semester.
Do not take this professor, his lectures are really hard to comprehend, the grade you see in canvas is never your actual score so you don't know if your failing or passing the class, he doesn't curve and he's also rude when you're trying to participate. Please just don't.
