He did not care if we showed up to class or not. He doesn't like it if we ask him questions he tells us to figure it out ourselves. Not every helpful. He can not speak english clearly.
Mr. Nesterovich is funny and nice, but for that he should have been a comedian! He just reads PowerPoints and doesnt explain. Incomprehensible! Posts tests banks to study but they r like hundreds of questions so good luck memorizing them! I got an A for my memorizing skills!! If you don't have a great memory I strongly recommend another teacher!!
Awful! He has a very thick Russian accent, so he is almost impossible to understand! I would always leave annoyed because I couldn't understand anything he said. You can understand him when he is talking about random things but when it comes to understanding something you are learning, you can't understand him.
the worst teacher EVER!! not only do you not understand a word that comes out his mouth he doesn't even explain nothing, and he does not like for you to question him. He won't help you wit labs and all he does is skim through powerpoints.
Cannot describe how bad this teacher is. You really have to take him to know how terrible he is but i recommend avoiding him at all cost. He gets mad if you asks questions but he speaks with a thick accent that is hard to understand. His tests must be from the whole department but the material on the test is never covered in class. PLEASE dont take
He is very hard. All he does is read over powerpoint. He is not helpful at all because if you ask him something he will tell you he does not have time to explain because he will tell you to goole it up. His test are very difficult, he does not even go over the materials on exam nor has review sheets.
I took Dr. Nesterovitch in a summer session for Bio2. His lectures are a little boring because he just uses slides but he is very helpful and funny. To make a good grade, just show up to class, participate, and study the slides. His accent is a little difficult to understand at first but it gets better. He is also generous with bonus points.
I took Mr. Nesterovitch for Bio 1407 over the summer. He is a little bit hard to understand at times, but he's funny and overall I enjoyed his class. You'll definitely have to put work into it, because it's not an easy course, but if you do your part to study hard and pay attention in class, you'll do well.
He is hard, foreign and expects you to act like an adult. His accent is thick, but you get used to it. Show up to class, take notes, study the ppts, read the chapter and you will do good. He is VERY helpful, but wants you to be independent. Gives bonus pts and assign. Tests are analysis ?'s, so you have to know concept not just definition.Hes great

He is very smart and teaches the material well. He will help you if you need it and put out an effort. If your a slacker this will not be a good class for you. Fun and fair teacher.
Ok for the record Dr.Nesterovitch is a good professor but i feel like BIOL is just such a hard course that no one can make this easy unless you are a passionate student. He reads from power points and cracks a joke here and there he has a thick accent but you get use to it To anyone who needs it Read and memorize the chapters lectures are pretty BS
Dr. Nesterovitch is a good professor, but the material is difficult. The exams are really difficult, but he is pretty good at working with students who want to earn extra points and are willing to put in some work. He does have a thick accent, but it's something you become accustomed to fairly quickly. It wasn't a bad class.
Good instructor. Gives you a lot of chances to turn in work. A little hard on missing labs. But overall a good instructor.
Very nice and funny teacher. The material in the class was difficult, but after studying and being able to think logically and outside the box, you should do fine on exams. Not a breeze by class. Gives a lot of worksheets and bonus points to help improve your grade. STUDY STUDY STUDY and you should be fine. Good teacher overall!
Dr. Nesterovitch is a real good professor who takes interest in teaching his students, by far I had one of the best experiences in biology. He is very understanding and is willing to cope with students to make sure no one is left behind...His motto is "everything for he student"...you have to study for his exams(this is college though)
If you are truly interested in expanding your knowledge and learning to make practical as well as logical connections to biology this is the class to be in. Tests are difficult. Attendance with full attention is a must. You can definitely ace the course if you show him your interest to succeed. He has plenty of cool stories to tell.
I'm a post-baccalaureate premed student, and personally, I would recommend his class. The class is very challenging (but it's Biology II at a college level, what are you expecting). Although I griped and complained all the way through the class, now that I made it out the other side, I feel that it actually prepared me well for the MCAT.
Dr. Nesterovitch made the class a lot more enjoyable for me than I thought possible.
Great professor! He gives good lectures, puts lecture slides and reviews online for student use. Slides cover everything needed for tests, so book is not mandatory. Strives to help students any way he can. Motto = "anything for students" Gives extra credit assignments to boost grades. Keeps class fun with jokes and interesting life stories.
The material is presented in Powerpoint. It is boring. Nesterovich is an interesting guy if you talk to him. He's been doing this awhile. He's seen every type of student. Be a good one and he will be good to you. Banzai!!
AMAZING TEACHER! He is passionate about his class and his labs. If you attend class every day, study his powerpoints, and genuinely seem to care about the subject you will get a good grade. He was funny and made time fly. For his final, study old exams and you will get an A. Don't stress him out over every point, he takes care of all his students.
First of all, he a better Biology professor than a lot of the ones I've heard about at LoneStar. The subject itself requires a lot self-discipline (reading the book, attending tutoring, studying a lot), but as a person and professor professor Nesterovitch is very good. If you don't understand something, you have to ask or learn it yourself.
Like any intro science class, this one is overloaded with topics. Don't expect it to be easy just because there is no math. Prof does a good job but there's no getting around the memorization, and when I took it lectures and quizzes were department issued (prof had no control over them). I highly recommend this prof.
He has a Russian accent, FYI. He is a great person but teaching should not be his profession. He is very hard to understand and doesn't make things clear. I would not recommend this teacher to students who have a hard time with accents.
Class is hard. Teacher is cool. Don't expect an easy time
Dr. Nesterovitch was a great professor and really cares about his students. He is a very funny guy and keeps the lectures interesting. He's easy to talk to and reasonable. Reviews for test are very helpful. Biology is a hard subject but Dr. Nesterovitch makes it enjoyable. I would recommend this professor for other students.
The Professor is great. Absolutely hilarious! Half of the negative reviews on here are from vengeful students who are way too interested in getting back at the professor for their own lack. I highly recommend Professor Nestorovitch for Biology! tests are easy the final was a cinch!
Great professor! Very helpful and always goes out of his way to help his students. I highly recommend on taking him.
I would definitely recommend this professor. He will work for you and help you make the grade you want in the class if you are willing to work for it. I ended up with an A. The class will be boring and tedious no matter what--it's biology-- but this professor is great. If you do the work, you will make the grade you want. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.
DO NOT take him for A&P!!! It was horrible!! I went into this class knowing it was going to be hard and a lot of work. That wasn't the issue. He couldn't answer any questions and some of the students would correct his test. If you're taking this course for the medical profession do not take him!!
I'm currently taking his class for A&P1 and he's really great! He gives us small hints as to what will be on the test. He will push back the test if we are not ready to take it. Everything that is on the test will be from his power points. He sets the class up with everything we need to know to make a good grade. Extra credit too.
He has a very heavy accent due that he is from a country by Russia. His test are very hard, make sure you study his power points and read the book. Overall he is good about helping you pass at the end. Do his projects they are easy 100 and labs are easy grades.
Although attendance is not required, as long as you Show up and give at least some effort, this class will not be a prob. He may be a little hard to understand at first, but if you study his powerpoints and keep up with the work he is very fair. "Anything for student!" He won't break the rules when it comes to the grade but he will work with you.
Nice guy, defers to the students at times. Has a bit of an accent that isn't hard to pick up on if you're paying attention, but I often found myself dozing off in the class, it's fairly boring. Tests are somewhat difficult and require a lot of memorization. Labs and projects are easy grades, and require minimal effort.
Prof. Nesterovich was a good professor. Show up, pay attention, participate, READ THE BOOK, taking notes, and you will make an A. Tests are hard if you don't know the material. He's difficult to understand at first, but he's very intelligent and an easy grader. If he messes up on an answer sheet, he'll give 5 extra exam pts. for correcting him.
Such a great professor. So intelligent and puts so much passion into his students. I laughed every class, he is awesome. Has an accent but you get used to it quickly. Easy to work with. Provides extra credit. Show up. Do your work and try you will do just fine. I would take him again and recommend him. Will miss him, maybe not biology so much :)
Great Biology instructor! Best I've had so far. He goes out of his way to help students. He has an accent but its easy to get used to.
Dr. Nesterovitch was very hard to understand at first, but got better after the first week. He tries to help you as much as possible and will give you points for correcting him. This course was hard, but it will be hard no matter where or with who you take. Overall he was a nice professor!
Very good professor and a very funny, humble and eccentric guy. He is enthusiastic when he teaches but he will not hold your hand throughout the class. Ask plenty of intelligent questions. He is difficult to understand at times, since he is from another country, so be sure to let him know if you understood his answer or not.
Very good and enthusiastic teacher. Eccentric but humble. He can be difficult to understand at times so make sure to ask plenty of questions. He will not hold your hand during the class but is really willing to help you. Overall, great professor.
this professor is very good in teaching and his lecture is very easy to understand.
He has a thick accent and lectures are extremely boring. He takes attendance and uses power points. All tests are from the power point with important info highlighted. He assigns 2 major grade group projects as well.
This professor is the first professor I actually had that actually ask what he could do to help me as the student understand the material and pass the class, I was doing poorly on my test and he gave me a end of semester assignment to boost my grade up to passing as a learning disability student I recommend him. He cares about his students
Dr. Nesterovitch is very helpful when you ask questions. He has an accent that is easy to understand once you get used to it. Utilize all his suggestions, read the textbook, and you'll do fine. Stick with it. He grades the two Power Point projects very easily, and he gives a great review for his final exam.
Students must be mentally prepared for tough exams during this course. Also group projects help in bringing one's grade up. However, the professor does not grade on content, rather on the aesthetics of the PowerPoint presentations such as images and consistency in font size (if font differs by a point or two).
Professor Nesterovitch is very funny guy and helps out his students. His accent is a little strong but understandable. He himself will tell you how to pass his class so listen to him, and study early for test. His lectures are long but he adds a lot comic relief.
Tests are a bit tough. You must study if you expect to get a good grade. Biology has a lot of terminology, and you must know it well to apply it to exam questions. Dr. Nesterovitch wants his students to succeed, but wants them to learn in the process. So, get ready to work hard, and learn a lot! He will be there to assist while you are struggling.
He is a very intelligent teacher, I did enjoy his class and learned a lot. It was defiantly challenging, but if you ask for help, he will give it to you. It is not an easy A, you really have to study and pay attention. He gives you clues on what will be on the next test.
One of my best professors. His class isn't the easiest, but it isn't hard as long as you keep up with the labs and lectures. The test's are moderate in difficulty for the university level and you need to know your material. Overall he is a very nice teacher and willing to help out students who ask for help.
Lectures from powerpoint. Lab daily. Always available for help. He is aware that he has an accent and he works to make sure everyone understands perfectly (you can understand after a week). His lectures are straight forward. You must study for test. It is possible to make an A. Would take again!
Dr. Nesterovitch is a highly intelligent prof. He is funny and entertaining. He is Russian and has an accent but it doesn't take long to catch on. Biology is a tough course, you must study! It was the toughest course I have taken but I was given the grade I deserved. He is a fair prof. and I wish I could take him for Bio 2. YOU WILL LEARN A LOT!!!
His Lecture and lab exams are difficult. Very supportive intelligent professor that always helps students at all times. His exams come from lectures, very easy material, the hardest part is the way he words the questions to trick you. Each question has about 6 to 5 answers very similar. I personally wouldn't take him again.
He's a very odd professor. He is very difficult to understand at first, but you get used to his accent. He will call you out in class and you will hate him, but his class is easy when you get the hang of it. He gives great reviews for his tests and final. Lab exam is killer.
Show up, pay attention to the lectures, do the homework (not excessive), do a small bit of studying. It isn't hard (I took the hard-mode summer course, where all content is squeezed into a 6 week version with tests every week) Everything you need is in the lectures, and the Russian accent is easy to follow. Sometimes he is funnyl
You cannot understand a word he says. If you take him sit in front and pay attention. Study and you'll be fine. He doesn't give much extra credit or help. Doesn't take his job seriously.
Mr. Nesterovitch is a nice instructor. He is funny and likes to pick on his students by saying silly things like minus 5 and plus 10 whenever you get a right or wrong question during lecture. He does take attendance every class and gives you a hard time when you come in late. Tests are hard but does give out a "hint" review before every test.
This Professor is very kind and tries to make everyone laugh. He is not an easy teacher, but if you study and go over his power points you will do fine. His test questions come straight from his power points. I would recommend him for people, but not lazy people!
He does have a strong accent, but class and lectures are fully understandable. There is virtually no homework. 4-5 tests, non-cumulative final. Most of the material is covered in lectures, but you need to read the book too. 2 easy projects and he doesn't grade harsh. Offers E.C. opportunity. "Anything for students" good teacher, I'd take again.
This is not a gloss over Biology class. It was hard at times but I felt he was fair and gave opportunities to those that did the work. His accent is hard to understand at first, hang in there. If you can suffer through the first few weeks then it is clear sailing. Make sure you DO ALL the Lab work! HIS STORIES ARE AWESOME!
Dr. Nesterovitch made this class interesting for me. He explains everything very well, and will continue to until you understand. He has a great sense of humor and as long as you show up to class he will work with you. I would definitely take him again!
He's super funny and nice. He helps you out as best as possible and his power points are easy to follow. His tests are really hard and have a lot of trick questions, but if you study hard you will pass with at least a B.
He is very hard to understand and unclear about directions a lot of the times but it does get better if you stick it out. The tests are super hard at first but after the first two he gives extra credit and really helps you out. Easy note card will be your bestfriend.
Sometimes hes hard to understand. He makes up for it by providing lecture slides for u to print. Outlining ur notes& put it on a big poster to study for tests. It boosted my grade 20pts. Stay ontop of ur lab notebook!!!! Dont blow off ur dissections. U will wish u had paid more attention body parts. If u stay ontop of ur work, ull get an A easily.
Heavy accent but you will get used to it quickly. Knows his stuff and can teach you a lot.
Professor Nesterovich was a great professor. A little hard to understand at first but you get used to it. Easynotecards . com is where he gets his test questions so study the note cards on that website. Lab exam is extremely tough so make sure to study and pay attention during your dissections. Lab exam is all short answer.
He's is very knowledgeable. Need to decide upfront if u want to learn biology or score well on the exams. Reading book and learning material is good for a "C." He tells you up front that he takes the questions from EZNOTECARDS - there's no time to learn and make an "A." Your choice. Labs every single day - not organized in this area.
This class was very fast paced and tough for a 6 week summer class. Some people did extraordinarily and others not so well. He offered a good amount of e/c and the final was easy but the course itself requires you to teach yourself. The material is dense!
Amazing professor! Genuinely a nice guy - cares about you as a person. I didn't do my best in the class because I didn't put the effort and I just needed a passing grade. Put in a few hours of studying a week before the exam and you'll get an A. Really funny at times with awesome life stories and sayings. He made 8h00 am's entertaining :)
If you know the material well, the tests are very straightforward. Don't expect to only study the night before the exam and pass it. Requires quite a bit of memorization. Overall, great teacher; very student oriented and fair grader. Definitely loves what he does and has a passion for learning and students.
Wasn't a terrible class. He can be hard to understand, is very straightforward, & has many cringe stories to tell. Lecture is slightly pointless since all of his tests are from Easynotecards, but can be very interesting. The Lab exam is very difficult-STUDY! The final exam is super easy w/ questions from all past tests. Entire class is memorization
Amazing professor! The class was a lot of material and memorization, but he tried making it as interesting as possible. Dissections were the most fun I've had in a while! Overall - read the PowerPoin slides, do easynotecard questions, get his feedback on the presentation BEFORE presentation day, and you'll get an A+ like I did. Really caring prof!
He is hard to understand, but you get used to it after awhile. He lectures off powerpoints making it easy to follow along. He is very straight forward and tells you what to memorize for the exams. He gives several chances for extra credit and ALL of his tests come from easynotecards. He's not a tough grader, do the assignments and you'll pass them.
Has a thick accent, but you get used to it. don't be afraid to ask him questions if you're not 100% clear on something. All his lecture power points are online, so print them out and take them to class with you. He really does care about his students and tries his best to make the class interesting and fun
Dr. Nesterovitch was a nice guy. ALL EXAM QUESTIONS ARE ON THE WEBSITE: EASY NOTE CARDS. He'll even tell you that himself. any chance he gets he will give out extra credit. Right after I turned in my exam, he told me he'll give me 5 bonus points if I fill out the answer key for him. Blew my mind.
im a 4.0 student i never had any problems with biology until this guy shows up out of no where if you want to not understand anything hes your man. All his labs are found online which everyone just copy and paste the answers. His exams are from easy notes. Exam review does not help at all. And he is very rude.
Awful Professor. He rips all his lectures/tests/labs from online. His lectures and test reviews do not match tests at all. Be ready to memorize 400 questions from easynotecards each test. Do not take this Professor. I've never made less than an A in college but this Professor will be my first C
THE WORST WORST WORST WORST PROFESSOR IN ALL OF LONE STAR COLLEGE!!!!!!!!
There's no reason to not do well with him. I made a B because it took me a while to catch on to using easynotecards AND quizlet both during a six-week course. You will learn things if you try. The labs are amazingly fun, but the lab final is impossible... no biggy. He will work with you - just ask.
I LOVED Professor Nesterovitch. He's an easy going guy, "anything for students", but he expects you to keep up and know what he is talking about. He has an odd sense of humor but if you laugh at his jokes and make small talk with him he will add extra points to your grades (it's true, he did for me). True test reviews dont match what is on test
Provides extra credit opportunities for the test. You need the lab manual. Labs are about 20% of your grade. Reviews are given, but don't expect him to give you the answers. He will tell you things such as: "know the differences between mitosis/meiosis". He understands what students do, it is not an easy A so don't take it if you want that.
Great professor! A lot of extra credit. He really cares about his students!
VERY RUDE!!!!!
VERY RUDE !!!!!!
NEVER AGAIN. Lectures are great, labs are interesting but the tests? Forget about it. He gives "hint reviews" but nothing he goes over is on the test. I understand EVERYTHING we have learned yet still struggle to get more than a 70 on the tests. Super hard grader, picky about details, also rude sometimes and often doesn't fully listen to you.
He is for sure not the easiest professor out there but overall he isn't that bad. His tests can be quite difficult just because of the amount of material covered, nonspecific reviews, and sometimes the over detailed test questions. Work and study hard and it is a passable class.
Professor Nesterovitch is not horrible. His "Hint Reviews" don't help with crap. Generally he is a nice guy but is very sarcastic and has a tendency to pick on slacking students, making a fool of them. Tests will spend a lot of time on subject matter barely covered on one slide. Put in the time in study, I mean A LOT OF TIME and you'll make it.
If you pay attention in class, read the book, and study on a regular basis this class is very doable. It is not the easiest because he actually wants you to LEARN something and not just pass a test. Probably my favorite teacher at lonestar because he is hilarious and keeps it real with you. He obviously cares about his job and students. Not rude!
Its really lame how a lot of comments here slander this man. He is brilliant. THE CLASS ISNT EASY. Don't take it if you don't want to actually study and learn about biology. He makes him self very available if you are struggling and gives extra credit. He isn't even strict on attendance but trust me you should show up!!
Professor Nesterovitch is one of the best professors that Ive taken at Lone Star! He is really funny and honest and blunt, and some people think that hes being rude but hes not. His tests are hard, and its not an easy A, but just study and youll be fine. He loves it when u come see him during office hours too! And he gives some extra credit.
In lab, you turn everything in as a group so its not just you doing all of the assignments. He allows 2 presentations that actually helped my grade! Follow the guidelines given and youll easily make a 90 and above on the presentation. Final exam is just like his test! Study study study!
I definitely couldn't understand him well enough to stay during the lectures. I wouldn't learn anything and would just be frustrated as I left. The lectures were on D2L so I just studied from there, which wasn't my learning style. He would have been a great teacher if I could understand him.
Nestrovitch was an ok professor. His class wasn't hard but it also wasn't easy. He doesn't pick favorites. His lectures are super long because he includes funny stories and he usually doesn't end class until the very end. Do the worksheets and don't cheat because those help your grade and your studying. Tests are extremely hard so study A LOT.
andrei is super easy to pass. i didn't do any of his extra credit and passed with a B. If you dont put in the effort then you dont deserve to pass. he is to the point and expects you to study. Its college, you should know its not a free pass. only thing i dont like is that labs get turned in one for group which allows people to be lazy and mooch.
Overall a nice dude, but as a teacher, I would NOT take at all. Tests did not reflect what he taught on the lectures at all. Lectures last for the full 2 hrs, if you finish the lab portion early, expect another lecture. Labs turned in as a group so that's a +, lots of worksheets, KEEP UP WITH LAB NOTEBOOK. JUST READ THIS REVIEW ONLY AND DECIDE
I really enjoyed Professor Nesterovitch. The material is difficult, but he gives verbal reviews straight from the test and as long as you study, you will do fine. This is college, not high school. The textbook is not required, but I recommend buying the online code. Begin studying for the lab exam the day the class starts. Do not miss class.
To be completely honest for you, professor Nesterovitch is a wonderful professor. He doesn't teach you just for exams but instead he wants you to leave his class and have learned something and will remember it. His class is always active and he is a very enjoyable professor. I would defiantly retake his course just to learn more subjects.
There is like four or five tests given and they are hard, if you think your ready study some more. However, his tests don't define the class. Lab grades are weighted more heavily than test grades. He does have a really thick accent which is kind of hard to understand at first, but you get used to it.
This class requires a lot of studying, but that is expected for the material being learned. He gives hint reviews where he reads SOME of the questions off the exam and highlights what to know in the powerpoints. To do well on the tests, study the powerpoints over a couple of days. FYI you do not need the masteringbio or lab atlas to do well. STUDY
great prof take him hes very easy and gives hint reviews for test
Very clear on what material will be on the tests and lectures basically give you the answers. Reviews before each test telling you what to study for the test. Great sense of humor and though he can be a little confusing at times if you ask him to clarify he will not hesitate to do so. Does not post grades until end of semester.
Very amusing teacher. He helps us out with questions to the units. you will have 4 regular exams, a lab exam, lab notebook, activities (group or individual), and final exam. We got to dissect animals like shark, crawfish, frog and rat. we got to go outside to examine bacteria for 1 and find natural items for other 1. Study and you'll succeed.
Dr. Nesterovitch is a no-nonsense, get to the point professor. You are expected to work. He has an accent and it can be a little difficult to follow what he is saying, just ask him to clarify. Labs reports submitted as a group. Be sure to read ALL information in regards to projects. ASK QUESTIONS! And..."Students never listen to me!"
Professor Nesty is a good professor that is tough on grading what you submit. Although he can be strict on what is required to get a good grade, if you put in the work and heavily study before the exams, you will learn something.
Based on my calculations this teacher very bad
Probably one of the best professors I've had at Lone Star. The class is difficult if you think you're entitled to a grade and refuse to study, but it's all memorization. Has a thick accent but you can get used to it. Learned a lot of interesting things.
One of the worst classes Ive taken at Lonestar. Yes biology is a difficult class but this professor makes is unbearable. Very disorganized, unclear on grading, and refuses to give any help on assignments. Would NOT recommend. Save your gpa and yourself from unneeded stress!!!!
