So boring...DREADED this class every day of it. NO NO NO!!!
Great teacher, he encourages you to think and express yourself freely. I learned a lot about numerous subjects and especially about myself in his class.
Ok, I took him 2 years ago. This man is brillant and one of the most respectful prof's I have ever met. A true scholar, went to Columbia! A very nice guy, very well rounded.
Yes, he is a little dry, I've had worse. However, he is very helpful and extremely intellegent and presents his classes in a way students can understand. He doesn't load you up with tons of unnecesary homework either. I'd take him again.
At first i tought he was going to be cool, since he looks like a old jimy hendrix, but then after having the classes i realiazed he is a communist hunter, very closed minded for a philosophy teacher! avoid at all cost!
hahaha...BORINGGGGG. damnnnnnn...... but knows his ****,very intelllligent.....Easy grades, but again" Very BORING", and makes me laugh...Crazy man!!!
Didn't learn anything. Very boring. Fairly easy, though.
very boring but very easy!! and lenient on abscences, i recommend him!
He is very boring, but very easy as well.
I think he is a great teacher he explains a very hard to understand subject in a very clear way. The students who find him to be boring are just not into philosophy.
Funny & nice teacher. The class is very boring, but very easy as well.
oh my god he is so boring. but he made me laugh my A** off. he just had a way of saying things. he is extremely knowlegable, loves input, and is easy. i think i would recomend him with a coffee on the side.(to stay awake)
He is really a nice teacher that works with you if you have a conflict. His test are essay and he allows you an outline during the test. Take quotes out of text that he addresses in the class and be sure to put them in your essay. I got an A. Boring thoug
DR. Alexander is a very intersting Humanities Professor. He is an easy professor as well but likes class particiaption and essays
Dr. Alexander is very helpful, he allows make ups and rarely takes points for that, he does rate at a higher standard for make ups though. he is very good and you will enjoy him.
His class was vey boring but his tests were easy and he graded everyone fairly. Cool guy but boring class
The best professor I've had yet, and I am upper sophomore. Very very informative, clear, explanatory, intellectual, and most importantly fun and entertaining. He is an interestly intellectual and humorous man. Last, I guarantee he'll make you laugh.
Great humanities teacher!!!!
I have taken Dr. Alexander for 3 classes now and miss him already! He is a high quality professor who takes his time to teach you what you need to know. He had a doctorate degree and it shows! All tests are essay style, but he grades very fairly.
very good
Dr. Alexander makes this class fun and easy with his dramatization of everything and the fro okay people... tests are essay which you get to have an outline for very easy and thoughtful class highly recomend dr alexander
very nice guy..and class is easy
Dr. Alexander is an AWESOME professor, he is very knowledgable of what he is teaching(he explains everything thorough). He gives review sheets for every test and goes over what the test will be on the day before the test. In Philosophy he grades on 4 Tests and 2 Group Projects (NO HOMEWORK :-)
Funny Guy.. Does a good job teaching the subject, and really gets into it 2..
He is a great guy, very funny. Very easy class, and tests are extremely easy!!! Just read over the notes once and you'll do just fine! easy "A"- I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for an easy grade.
All essay exams. Does not answer questions clearly. Nice enough of a guy, but very vague.
LOONEY MAN! Didn't know how to prepare for each of 4 different styled exams. I would look for a different teacher if I were you. He IS nice, but Nice doesn't make your grade! He only gives 4 exams for your grade... Not much room for error & NO other ways of earning points. (Don't recommend)
The tone of his voice can get very boring, and he repeats himself a lot (particularly "What IS the Good Life?") but he's a decent guy. Don't take his class if you're looking for razor-sharp debate. Bottom line: the textbook is way more interesting than his lectures. (Sorry Dr. A.)
He's the most boring person in the world. the material is good but he makes it horrible. u wanna die in that class, he shows a video from centuries ago. 4 papers and 4 in-class essays, not so hard. He is not a bad guy, but Take someone else if you can.
His class is so boring. You will fall asleep and want to kill yourself when you wake up. His notes are like reading chicken scratch, and you will never be able to understand them when going back to study. Sometimes, he is funny. Take him if you enjoy being bored and want an easy A.
easy professor, does cut more slack on women then men. you can **** all essays and get a B easily in class, I have taken two of his courses.
Nice Guy, but his class is so so boring. I am a very patient person but I wanted to kill myself. It's really hard to understand his notes. However, his is very knowledgeable and willing to help. If you read the book you will be okay. Good Luck!
Here is a man who knows his stuff and will explain his lectures with great clarity! As long as you take notes you will do great on your essay test; he lets you use ur own outline! If you need help just talk to him and he will figure something out! He is very understanding!
I love professor Alexander. He is a great teacher. I love his teaching methods great examples. He was interesting to listen to and really taught well. 650 word essay tests are the best since you can use an outline. Loved the teacher and class, would recommend.
He is a terrible man.I have 89.16. he gave me an B.went to talk to him but he still wouldnt change his mind. I dont know why people say he is nice. he SEEMS nice, but he is not
he said he would give student an C even they have 79 point something.DO NOT take him if you want to make a better grade. he shouldnt teach humanity, he is not reasonable at all.
89.16 is a B. There has to be a cutoff somewhere. If you earned a 89.5, then he would have rounded up. Stop whining! You earned a B.
He was the MOST boring teacher. All we did was read, read, read and write, write, write. I hardly ever read the book and I still got a good grade.
stupid teacher doesnt know what he's talking about. Super boring voice, he could be a good hypnotist. NOT RECOMMANDED. TOO MUCH WRITTING IN CLASS!!!
He made you watch a really boring film and never explained anything clear. The guy behind me was snoring during the entire! I dont know how he earned his PHD! Valencia should fire this dude!
Seemed to be daydreaming during the lecture. Very boring and uninteresting. Don't take this class!
He is very interesting techer. He explains everything to make sure that you understand every topic. He is funny also.
professor alexander it is time for you to retire. go farm some corns please!his handwritting is awful. talks with an sleepy voice which makes the uninteresting lectures worse.
Whoa....this class was VERY boring. I thought I was going to enjoy the class, I didn't. He is a nice guy and means well, but he is so slow. Don't miss ANY of the test, if you do, the make-ups in the testing center are VERY HARD, straight from the book. Study, study, study for the test, and you'll be fine. Pick good group members too!!
This guys a nut case, everything is "circular," circular this circular that he is crazy, its one of those classes you tell stories about years later like to your kids "this guy was so weird because _____" but whatever, to teach humanities you have to be a little weird. he reminds me of the genie from donkey kong racing 64 anyway its an easy A
very boring class. hard to follow lecture. don't feel confident when taking tests but then get a high grade. glad to be done soon.
Really nice. Don't bother buying the book, it is a waste of $. All you need to do to pass is copy every single word he writes on the board. Study all the notes and you will pass. Drink some caffeine beforehand, his voice is so mellow, you could fall asleep!
4 tests - 2 group projects - No homework - easy A - very very mellow voice/monotone - I would NOT reccomend taking the 7:00AM class as i did! SO hard to stay awake!
Dr. Alexander is a a great teacher. The beginning is very slow but it picks up towards the end of the semester. Only 2 tests and 2 projects, no homework ever. Make sure you take notes. You can tell he loves philosophy. He is a very good guy. I recommend him.
VERY BORING/CANT TEACH/TALKS FUNNY AND SLOW/ WASTE OF TIME
Good prof. 4 tests, 2 of them take home. Group proj for midterm and final. Does not seem to use email, but replies very quickly to office phone msgs. Soothing voice; hard to stay awake at 7am! You will either need your book or notes to pass; if latter, make sure to write down more than what he writes on board or notes won't make sense.
Loved the class and the professor was great! I can't see how anyone could fail his class. Tests are mostly essays but he does like you to put your opinion on them also, so you don't have to memorize books or notes.
I took both of my Humanities with Dr. Alexander. Of COURSE there is a lot of writing - it's a Gordon Rule class!! However, his passion for the subjects he teaches make the class truly memorable! Forget Valencia - this guy should be teaching at a major University! Great quality + interesting personality = Dr. Alenxander! And I loved his voice!
"What iiisss philosophy??" This professor is amazing. If you are a good writer, you will breeze right through this course! You learn so much - much more than you will with most professors at Valencia. Take notes, ask questions and enjoy this class! I miss it already!
"The BIIIIG Question" haha, The guy is kinda..."out there" but it's just because he's passionate about the course. Very nice guy, very understanding, and explains all ideas clearly...so clear that he's reviews are more clear than reading the book. Good guy, you can't help but like him..good guy, good teacher.
I enjoyed Dr. Alexander's class a lot. Although he scared me the first day of class when he showed up with huge sideburns and a leisure suit, he is very passionate about Humanities and it shows. Class is an easy A, use lots of quotes and good vocab in your papers. I recommend drinking caffeine before class - or his voice will put you to sleep.
"You okay with that idea guys?" Take his class, you'll get it. All around he's a good teacher. He knows his stuff and passionate about what he teaches.
he is not the most interesting person, but his class is passable if you can keep yourself awake. Nice guy, funny (not because he tried, but because he just is fun to watch)
Lets see.. i hardly ever know what the hell this guy is talking about, nothing ever makes any sense! he's pretty boring but it's super easy.. all the tests are take home and its philosopy to you can pretty much b.s. your way through it. the mid-term and final are both group projects! i recommond taking this class if you don't really care about lear
This professor is fab! He is flowery and wild. Soothing voice. :O Kind and helpful. Reading is a MUST. Note taking is a MUST. Several papers if I remember. I am taking another one of his classes in the spring.
he is so funny. we had 4 take home tests. And 2 projects, very easy. If you want easy A, just take him.
talk about booooring! you go to class, sit and take notes and go home. then you have a take home test and 2 easy BORING group projects. this guy is kinda wierd, he talks sloooow. its so easy its retarded! just dont take him in the morning, you will instantly pass out snoring!
This professor is amazing! Class is uber easy, you just need to attend the classes and take thorough notes. I didnt do any of the readings and still managed to get an A, because he explains everything in great detail. No tests, just writing, so if you are an awesome writer this is an easy A with little to no effort! "You okay with that idea guys?"
Man this tacher is easy it should be a crime!! There are 4 take home tests and 1 group project which was really easy. The class was very boring s0o u betta take the class with a friend!! What more can i say...TAKE HIM!!
Dr Alexander is very nice and is funny. However if you like philosophy and are hoping to learn somthing don't take this class! It seems like he is making stuff up as he goes along and his mind is in outerspace. But he is a nice guy and works with you if you are pregnant and/or have a life.
He is a very nice guy. He just isn't very clear. All you need to know for his class is the review sheets. That is the key to the easy A. I coasted through class.
Easy A. If you actually want to learn about philosophy and are serious about it DONT take him. But if you want an easy A TAKE HIM. He's very boring but it's worth it.
Easiest A ever! Take him if you want easy credit, but don't expect to learn anything.
this guy is easy. 4 take home essay test are to be done after each unit. there is also 2 group projects which are also easy. take this class if u want to get an easy grade.
This guy is so weird. Everything is theory based with him. I don't care about ethical theory. I thought that we were supposed to learn how to think critically. There was nothing in what he taught that prepared me to think in a more critical or ethical fashion. I would NOT recomend him to anyone.
Dr. Alexander is weird but his class is easy. Its the material that is hard to understand, thats all.
He is super cool! Very funny because he really gets into the "Hot Topics" He is compassionite towards his teaching! Lienient on attendance. Easy A. Definetely recommend!
He is a very nice guy and always happy, BUT he isn't always clear on the topics. I'm not sure how he grades but I was seriously sure I had failed a paper and got a 'C'. Attendence doesn't seem to be a big deal as half the class walks out as soon as he takes roll. Very easy-going guy just didn't learn much.
Extra easy A! I missed several classes and still passed. There are only 4 tests and a few small projects. All short answer questions about your opinion - no wrong answer! He can get a little boring but it's very easy.
whats up with him?
Professor Alexander is very nice and is very passionate about humanities, which makes the course a little interesting. He is clear and helpful, you just have to get use to his tone of voice. on the downside, the use of technology was terrible and out of date. But hes a good professor!
At first I thought he was high every class but hes just really monotone and laid back. Tests are easy and about opinion, cant go wrong. Everything was right in the book.
Dr. Alexander is mad cool. He kinda reminds me of Cleveland from family guy but he is always chill. If you follow his lectures the book isnt really neccesary.
This is a good class. Its pretty interesting and not that difficult. Prof. Alexander is really nice and respectful. The class mostly consists of group projects and the final exam is a paper. Attendance is mandatory, but the class can hold your attention.
Easy class very nice guy and you'll learn a lot if you pay attention, 2 exams and group projects and final is a paper pay attention and there's no way you'll fail got an A in the end.
Alexander is a great professor but I think an interest in the subject matter is required to fully appreciate his eccentric teaching style. He's entertaining and will go over anything you have questions on. His class is easy, just take notes/read. You'll never forget him. He's pleasant and understanding if you ever have an issue. Highly recommended.
When I first registered I thought I was gonna sleep throughout the class because it was at 7am, but he made the class so interesting and funny that I didnt want it to end. He is very open-minded, participation is recommended. Very clear in his explanations and willing to answer any questions you may have. I recommend him 100%
He's the easiest, calmest, funniest philosophy professor ever! He had two take home tests and two in class tests. The final is take home test of the fourth section - a piece of cake. But the only thing is tests are 90% of the grade. no homework. attendance 5% and participation 5%. good look! :)
He writes what he is explaining on the board and gives great examples. He is willing to re-explain if you do not understand. Everything he teaches is in his book.
Awesome teacher, he is a really nice guy who knows what he is talking about. He gives great examples and is very receptive to any questions one may have. Great teacher, great class, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I have never been more bored in my life. But on the bright side, half of his tests were take home and if you study, the rest of the tests are pretty easy. No homework, just 1 project. Not hard at all, just boring. I skipped most of the time and still got a B.
Professor Alexander is great, I learned so much in his ethics class that will stick with me. He is funny and gives great examples. I really enjoyed the class..
This is the MOST boring class I have EVER taken!! Prof. wrote the book that is used in his class so if you miss a class just read the book. There are 4 tests 2 in class and 2 take home and 1 group project which is mostly done in class. Easy to ace class as long as you nail your tests.
Professor Andrews is a wonderful person that loves to teach He shows emotion within teaching which absorbs the attention of the class I loved the class and will take him for every other subject that he teaches He is down to earth but in the universal heavens as well Very deep man and i am thankful that i found his course Tests and class breezy
The class has potential, but the examples used to clarify the theories discussed in class made the subject itself very basic and disinteresting. Textbook is required and expensive even when renting. The professor was too scatter-brained for my tastes, but he is a very kind and understanding professor overall.
I wanted to take this class but now I regret taking it with this professor. He was soooooo boring and did not teach much. He is pretty easy but not clear at all. Four reports and one group report is all you do.
Class is super boring but a very easy grade! The professor is very kind and helpful. He offers two take home test and two in class which are basically short essays, just memorize a few of the philosophical theories and you should get an A. The group project was pointless but an easy grade, basically get to work 20 min on it every class.
This class is the easiest / most boring A you will ever get, but for me.. as a business major who wanted to learn good lessons on ethics/critical thinking he did a terrible job, examples he did were stupid was not clear pretty much taught my self the stuff i wanted to learn
Very confusing, doesn't give good feedback at all. Also needs to be more strict, as people in class make a lot of noise, making it hard to focus, because they know they can, only because he doesn't stand up for himself and make sure that people pay attention. Will not take again
Overall, the class is an easy A but his lectures take up about 75% of the class time, on top of his monotone radio commentator voice. 5 tests and no homework. His book is "required" but if you can take good notes during class, you can pass his tests. Just read more at home.
If you're looking for an easy A then I'd say this class is a given. Book "required" but if you take notes during his lectures (essentially just going through each section in the book) then you wont need it. The man really is super nice, but class is pretty boring most of the time given that lectures are so long. 4 essay like tests, 1 group project
He's hilarious. He does not have the clearest grading criteria which could be dangerous in a class with 6 assignments total. However, he knows his stuff. Great lectures. Just make sure your'e clear on the essays. Show up and pay attention and there's no reason you can't earn an A.
This class was super interesting but when he is doing lecture it is just like the textbook almost word for word and can get boring but in class discussion is very interesting.
He's nice. Not many assignments. You just have to pay attention in class to pass the tests, which is kind of the problem. Good person, but just sooo boring. I'm sorry. If you can't stay awake, try reading the textbook. It helps, cause he really just goes over the content in that.
HE was an amazing professor, while it wasn't much work. he gave you time to do the reading and really understand what you are going to be writing about for the essays as well as very accessible and grades very quickly.
Incredibly boring. There were only 4 assignments the entire semester, including the final exam. So getting a bad grade on one assignment is going to tank your grade. Each class consisted of just long lectures, and as long as you just write down whats on the board its enough. No effort is needed for the class, don't take if you want to really learn
I'm not sure why the ratings are so low. We had 5 assessments in total, including a group project. The tests were honestly easy. He even sends out what to study prior. he reads from his books and takes the test on them, so I would get the book. You can tell he really enjoys what he does, and he was a funny person and nice.
Dr. Alexander is funny and very kind. You have to make sure to attend every class, the lectures are very important. There is quite a bit of group work, although very little of it needs to be completed outside of class. You get to use flash cards on the tests, so you don't need to memorize anything. I enjoyed the class!
