He does not relate well to stdents. He has no sense of humor. If you don't agree with exactly what he says you are wrong, no question!
He is a very helpful professor when you go to talk to him and he will work with you on personal issuses that effect your performance.

Prof. is very helpful with required papers for class. Willing to review with student then give feed back so student can be succesful with assignments.
If you can help it, NEVER take a class from this man.
Tix was a great teacher. He gives you everything you need to do well in the course (notes, lecture, syllabus, and what to read in the book). You have to do the rest, study the notes and read the book! Visit him during officce hours to get an even better understanding or just to talk.
Andy is a great teacher, although he did assign a little to much work for this class. He is very helpful and makes class fun. If you're not afraid of a little work this will be an easy class.
i would diagnose him with 3/4 of the DSM
OMG!!! I LOVED THIS CLASS AND ANDY! HE TAUGHT INA VERY UNDERSTANDABLE AND NON- INTIMIDATING WAY. HE KEEPS CLASS LIVELY WITH HIS JOKES AND HIS SWEET AND WHOLESOME ATTITUDE. HE IS ALSO REALLY GOOD ABOUT BALANCING OUT TESTS AND HOMEWORK AND PROJECTS. IF YOU CAN WORK HARD AND GO TO HIS LECTURES YOU WILL
Stepping back into high school with Dr. Tix. Spend more time reading and taking notes that learning. Loves his homework, quizzes, exams, and portfolio project. Be prepared to work!
He is an awesome teacher. Take classes from him!!
He is awesome...you may have to work some but definitely take Tix.
very nice and very clear teaching. makes it fun with stories from personal life
I loved this class...Andy is very dedicated in helping students and pushing them to learn... He is a great great teacher...
Anyone who says meancrap about this teacher is just jealous of his hotness and perfection.....

He's been my favorite professor so far. Super nice.
he's garbage. sissy garbage. try to take this class from someone else - this guy is just plain irritating.
Very clear and detailed.
AWSOME TEACHER! If your looking to breeze through like high school, don't take him. If you want to learn and are ready for college level classes, he's your man. Very helpful, very clear and a very nice guy. I still keep in contact with him.. I don't really enjoy school, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
Andy is dedicated to making his class fun and educational. If you keep up with the reading assignments his pop quizes and exams are really easy. He has a great sense of humor and goes out of his way to get to know his students.
either u like him or u dont, he looks like Kip from napoleon dynamite and he seriously cares about his students.
THE NICEST TEACHER AT NORMANDALE. CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS, HIS FAMILY, JUST AN ALL AROUND GREAT PROFESSOR! GO DRINK SOME TEA WITH HIM, HES SO ENCOURAGING, TAKE THIS PROFF IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!
Very interesting class and he makes it very enjoyable. He is very helpful and you can tell that he is there to help you, not to fail you.
Best teacher for this class very helpful and friendly hes the reason why i'm going into neurology this class is so interesting and a joy to be in
awesome guy! so fun to talk to! go have tea with him, have a carrot, whatever! I'm not much of a psychology person, dont care for it myself. but i took the class for fun and it was great!
Dr. Tix rocks, very interesting class, wonderful teacher, very funny, makes class enjoyable, doesnt care for grades, loves what he does, overall an amazing teacher in every way
Andy rules, he makes class fun with great stories that relate to what the topic is in class. He test are really straight forward. And you absolutely have to have tea with him and talk. He's a lot of fun.
WOW! Andy ROCKS! He is fun and interesting and you really learn alot about psychological disorders in his class. If you want to be challenged as well as have a teacher that will do thier best to prepair you for the exams then choose Andy Tix!
interesting lectures with only a few tests throughout the semester. textbook reading is collected twice durring the semester and was accomplished in a single eventing.
Awesome teacher!! Even if you don't like psychology, you will love any class with him as the teacher. He is very helpful and makes the class so much fun. He is the best!
Andy is AMAZING! He really knows his stuff and gives great examples to help you learn! He takes the time to get to know you (go have tea with him!) and also help you with anything. Very easy class. I come from another college and barely had to study because his lectures were so straight forward. I HIGHLY recommend him!

Andy is great. He is a total nerd but the kind you respect. Exams are kinda tricky; they are written to be like real-life situations. Very knowledgable and helpful. Will purposely argue with you, even if he agrees with you, to get you thinking about what you are saying and to understand what is going on. AWESOME TEACHER!
Most amazing teacher ever.
He is ok, his exams are horrible, he is not very helpful at a time of need, the discussion classes are very boring, he doesn't care if you have difficulties in his class he thinks you just need to study, he takes to long talking to the students in his office and doesn't pay attention to the students who are waiting outside of his office,if you are o
he is very enthusiasti about his classes. a lot of discussion is encouraged and if you pay attention in class and read at least part of the book, the tests are pretty easy. there are also 12 pages journals due half way through and at the end of the semester. there are 4, 30 question multiple choice tests and the final is cumulative.
He is the most amazing professor ive ever had! he listens well and really enjoys teaching! you dont have to attend every class, and his notes are all you need to pass his exams. His exams are not very hard. i only wish he taught more psyc classes! he is the BEST! i recommend him for sure !
Good teacher, I'd say a LITTLE over rated, I mean, he's not a god. But tests can be hard, a LOT more from the book than what he leads you to believe. But straight foward, you should do fine if you read the book. And homework is also incredibly easy, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't barely read it, and just gives you 100%.
Great teacher, probably the best i will ever have.
A truly enthusiastic teacher. He's more interested in you understanding the basic concepts rather than names and dates. The syllabus tells you everything that's expected of you for the semester. His tests are challenging because you need to apply concepts learned in class to everyday applications. I'd take a class from him again.
after studying for tests, still did not pass all the tests. very hard class. i only passed the class because of the journals we have to do. helped out a lot. he seems like a good person but who knows. i wouldn't take his classes again.
One of a kind professors, such an interesting individual. Challenges and questions ones thoughts and beliefs which allows you to grow as a person. Hilarious, strongly recommend him as a professor, down to earth and available if you ever need help. He's entertaining, you will want to go to class, an amazing learning experience!
AMazing, Did not want a hotdog from me. But i still love him...
Great guy, helpful and funny. Please note that for his Abnormal Psych course volunteer hours are a huge part of the course.
Nerdy, But Amazing Prof.
He's not all that he's cracked up to be. He can be funny, but honestly, he can be quite a jerk. I really do like him, but I would definately choose Jay Anderson any day over Andy Tix.
Great teacher, he's open minded and applies most of what he teaches with examples from his own life, or that of his family. I am taking his general psychology class and so far, i have not had to refer to the textbook in order to study(dont buy the txt book). A downside is that half of the classtime are discussions and the other half is taking notes
I thought Andy was an awesome teacher I stopped reading the textbook half way done with the class and still got an A
Tix... is quite amazing. I always looked forward to going to class and I actually used the things I learned in class in life. It's not too hard of a class if you are there everyday and do the work. It's AWESOME!! TIX TEAM!! WHOO
Andy is one of the finest professors you will ever meet. His class is enjoyable, but not easy. Do not heed previous students' bad advice to "not buy the book"! Show up, work hard, and participate in class and you will enjoy this class immensely. If you are not interested in workign or participating, do not waste space in Andy's classroom.
omg,he is AWESOME!,dudes and dude-ettes..i came in his class clueless and left wanting more, his very prepared,HELPFUL,my advice would be:show up,pay attention and your good!his funny and just a overall easy going guy!
I took Gen. Psych during the summer and got an A. If you show up, pay attention, and turn the homework in on time, you'll do well. He has an easy grading system with a lot of extra credit. He is a really great guy and he likes tea. He has a lot of office hours and he likes visitors (he even gives extra credit for visiting him). Highly recommend!!!
Andy is awesome! He is so helpful and so interesting! The tests are not too difficult, you just have to write two essays prior to the test and bring them in on test day, then there's multiple choice questions in class! As long as you do the reactions you are good to go! Great teacher and interesting class! Definitely recommended!
Andy was one of the coolest and best teachers I've ever had. If you do your work you'll do fine in his class.
Andy Tix is incredibly down to earth and modest. He wants his students to learn, and he doesn't act like he knows everything (which is the main reason he stands out from the rest of the earths professors). He's also great to share anything with outside of class as well. His grading is very fair as well, if you know the material, you will do well.
Well looking at all of these comments, it's pretty obvious he's an amazing teacher. The in-class discussions are always fun and he has short but interesting stories to always tell. Take the class!
Andy is a teacher who really enjoys his job, and it really shows. Just take him, it will be a fun time.
Andy really seems to try to relate to his students and loves his job. The only downfall to him is that he does not remember names, and it makes you feel like part of his class (even if you sit up front and talk). I found his class interesting but I think his lectures and group disscussions could be better. Overall he was an ok teacher.
Took Tix for general psych, the guys is awesome. So straightforward and engaging. Really wants his students to learn and active, I only had him for a 2 week crash course last summer and it was still a very, very enjoyable experience.
I took the 2 week long summer session at the end of May. Its A LOT of class in 2 weeks but totally worth it. He is a good teacher and takes his time explaining things to the class, he doesnt rush through slide shows. There is a packet of exercises he had us do together that really helped our applying what we studied. Class is a good challenge.
Took Andy for the summer session course on Saturdays (all day long). Had a FANTASTIC time! Really got to engage in behavior psych discussions. He took a lecture outside one sunny July day and we even had a potluck on our last day of class with foods from each culture represented. Great class and made the subject come alive!
I took General Psych w/Andy & he is 1 of my favorite teachers of all time. I became so interested from his class that I now want a major in Psych. Took a class w/Ruth Schiller & was a horrible experience. Pyschology is wonderful. Don't let a bad teacher ruin it for you. Andy is very helpful, outgoing, fun and loved his stories. All around greatguy
Amazing teacher! He is so concerned about the education of his students. The material is a little difficult if it's your 1st upper level class, but Andy is extremely easy to get ahold of if you're having trouble. You will LOVE going to class with Andy!
I have taken a class with almost every psychology professor at Normandale, and Andy is one of the best. He is funny, enthusiastic, intelligent, yet extremely humble. His grading is prompt and his expectations are clear. If you put forth effort, you will succeed in his class.
Andy is AMAZING. Class was always fun and enjoyable. Andy is very personable and really cares about his students.
He is a very nice teacher, smart, nerdy and funny.
He is very nice person, great teacher, smart professor! Take him.
As a psych major, I'm really glad that I took Andy. I think he taught the material in a way that really uses science and the application of the things you study. Tests were straight forward if you read and studied the material. He even has an office hour at Caribou where you just have a weekly discussion with other students.
He's GREAT! Looking for a filler course- TAKE IT! Caribou office hours=fun! Go! Teaches to APPLY things to EVERY DAY life, not just memorize & spit out info for tests. LISTEN to study guide directions. Overall, just a super fun course! I want to take another course with him. Slighty "nerdy", but Awesome person!! Great respect and care for students!
YES. Just, yes. Amazing. Probably my favorite prof.
Andy is an awesome professor! He offers so many opportunities to throughout the semester to meet with him and others to study, ask questions, or just chat at caribou in town! He really cares about his students. He absolutely loves his job and you can really tell. We do have to read a lot in this class but it's so interesting! TAKE ANDY!!!
If you don't like psychology going into this class, you will LOVE it after! He is so, so helpful, and always was available during office hours and responded to emails super fast!
Awesome, fun, understanding. Do what he says and you will pass with ease.
Really good instructor. He has a passion for what he does and he genuinely cares about the students and the material. The class was a difficult for me but I don't think that is the norm. He is fair and consistant. I highly highly recommend Andy Tix. Awesome instructor :)
Yes, he is good, BUT....He could be very narrow minded. Even though he always says that authoroties could be bias, he is often bias also and would refuse your view
Andy is really fun and well organized when he comes to class. The only homework he really gives you are question journals which are quick and easy points. Things on his tests are almost always things covered in class and he was really interesting lectures. He has take home essay questions for the tests- (multiple choice). I recommend him!
Andy requires a lot of reading but tends not to grade you for the content you write about except on the 2 four page papers. Also, there are 2 tests and a final. You WILL enjoy andy's class and probably take another with him after the first.
Andy is a fantastic professor. He loves psychology and absolutely adores teaching it. He truely wants to get to know us and has great office hours for studying or just talking. He teaches in a way that just makes sense to you and in a wide variety of ways. I can truely say that it would be a MISTAKE not* to take him. Do it up!
Took him for General Psychology online and it is a difficult class - but it's meant to be. He really gets you thinking about concepts and his assignments are very practical. I really enjoyed the class, he also allows extra credit that is really interesting and pertains to the material. If you get to meet him, definitely give it a go - wonderful guy
Andy Tix is a wonderful professor. He is very helpful and I loved how interactive class was. If you read the book and participate in the discussions you will get an A. It's not EASY but the tests are on 80% of what he lectures.
Professor Tix is an exquisite instructor. He is a great storyteller and makes the material interesting and relatable. I would recommend taking any psychology course with him.
Very helpful and clear in what he is expecting. Gain important knowlege from the teacher.
This prof is FANTASTIC! He made me want to be a psych major. He's very clear and relaxed. His assignments are all very interesting and you'll do well if you're willing to put any work into it at all. His goal is to really show you why psych is interesting, and he's great at it! He's a very genuine, down to earth guy.
He is a great teacher. Highly recommended.
Andy is one of the best professors I've ever had. Those who don't do well in his class just don't do their work. Come to class prepared and think of meaningful things to discuss. If you do that, chances are you'll never have to study to do well. Andy gives you all the tools you need to succeed, but you need to actually USE them.
Did not enjoy this class. Teaching style was uninteresting and I never looked forward to go to this class. He is somewhat judgemental to his students and I highly do not recomend him at all.
Andy is a wonderful Professor, show up to class, pay attention, and take his advice on how to do well. If you do all that guess what? You'll do well! Andy WANTS to help you and not only wants you to do well in his class but succeed in college and life. This class could change your life.
This professor seems rather helpful (arr-online) the exams were critical thinking. So they were not the easiest. One of the books we used were not really useful. Wish I didn't even get it. The other Myers book you did need. He drops your lowest scores for supplementary and reflections so that was nice(4 pts ea). I wouldn't take this class again.
Best teacher I've EVER had! Provides you with infinite resources to succeed--take advantage of those! Not hard to get an A if you simply read the chapter and show up for class. The book was really interesting, I'd end up reading more than required! Don't take psych with anyone but Tix!
Andy is a fabulous teacher who goes above and beyond expectations to ensure that you are successful in his course. He is approachable, enthusiastic and relatable. We relied heavily on the textbook during the condensed summer session with a wealth of additional resources for applied practical knowledge. I cannot recommend Dr. Tix highly enough!
well, he seems to be nice, but not always. I can't say that he is the best teacher, certainly he can improve his views. He can be strict only to one (his own) view;if you don't share, then you will be ignored.
amazing teacher, makes class super interesting. keep up on the reading and participate in every class and you'll pass no problem. super fun teacher
Andy is very involved with his students. He is very thorough and nice. His class is fairly easy. The assignments are essentially there to make sure you are doing the reading and understand what you have learned by applying it. He is a great instructor and I would recommend him to anyone and everyone!
HE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR! I must say best at Normandale. Do your questions, print the power points, and study. You will pass! He will sit down anytime and listen to you vent with a cup of tea. He is a great professor and great father! TAKE HIS COURSE. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
Wonderful teacher! He is interested in helping his students succeed. He brides his class to have discussions with him during his office hours. He posts his power points on D2L (super helpful). He also enjoys staying in touch with his former students. Such a wonderful teacher! :)
A great teacher, but is lazy at times
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Real strong interest in working with the students and getting you engaged. Great guy!
Best teacher I've had at normandale by far. If you have a chance to take one of his classes do it! It's not the easiest but it is well worth the extra work.
You will do well in this class if you show that you're interested and go to class. Most of the exam material is on lecture and having the power points online is really convenient. Just keep up with homework and reading and show interest, and you'll do well. Andy is awesome!
I used to like Psychology before taking his class but i lost my interests in this subject.Too judgmental.I don't recommend taking this course from Tix
Andy was great! His class was always interesting and involved everyone in class. He went out of his way to make it a personal experience for everyone involved.
FANTASTIC professor. Easy going, positive guy, very intelligent and helpful. Always there to ensure you grasp the material. I would highly recommend him. Fully participates in participation and ensuring everything is crystal clear. Easy grader, loved this class, one of my favorite professors of all time!
Andy Tix is such a great professor and a wonderful person. He's kind but still strict. He helped me become more interested in psychology and I still use the things he taught me in other classes and everyday life. Taking a class with him changed me and made me a better person. 10/10
Knows and is able to connect the material to the student's life. Uses examples of real life to help relate the material to students life.
He likes to tell you that he's there for his students and to drop by his office anytime, but in my opinion there are only a small group of students that he was actually interested in helping. He seems put off by some students' questions. Avoid if at all possible.
All lectures read mostly off power points, not a whole lot of clarification aside from that. Assignments rarely have anything to do with the topics, so not very helpful in improving your understanding.
He is a very good teacher. Interested in his subject and you if you choose to visit. Attendance is mandatory, and there are weekly readings and papers due, but they are fair, if you do the readings. Good luck in your class!
I think anyone who is giving negative feedback about Dr. Tix just simply wasn't ready to be challenged in life , so buck up and realize that this professor is phenomenal. He gives motivating feedback, material you can actually use in life, and provides a sense of clarity in what he expects. Participation is key. Pay attention and you'll do well.
He is a wonderful professor. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed, but not without really learning something. He wants you to take things to a deeper level and does a good job explaining the material, there is a lot of reading but you can understand a lot of what's on the test just by paying attention in class
he has a unique way of teaching, if u don't get it! you can forget about getting a good grade. he is helpful but his tests are sooooo hard. i took his intro-psychology online. it was very stressful especially the tests.
Dr. Tix has very clear expectations and does a great job of holding you to them. His tests are hard but if you study, you should do just fine. He is always there to help you with any questions you have about any of the material, you just have to ask!!
Requirement for class was to meet with him for 10 minute discussion during his office hours. I worked on campus and stopped by day after day and NEVER ONCE found him in his office. I left post-it notes on his door, still there the next day but finally set up a time to meet him. He didn't show up, even gave me the "my voice mail didn't work" excuse.
Show up to class, take notes and read the book and you'll be on your way to an A. Andy was great! very easy to talk to him. All exams were multiple choice questions so it wasn't difficult to get an A or B. Learned many things that will help me out in other classes.
He was a good professor for online. The tests are worded tricky. Once you get used to the tests, they become easier.
Andy is wonderful, spectacular, and awesome to say the least. He is truly more than a professor but also a mentor. He connects material to you're life in a meaningful way. He perfectly just on his rules about class, assignments, tests, homework, projects, and extra credit. Definitely could ramble on and on about how great this professor is!
He's just an amazing person in general. He's always there for his students, he responds very thoroughly, connects material to your life in a meaningful way. He uses multiple sources to teach, which gives a well rounded lesson. He's the kind of professor that you know isn't there "for the money", he genuinely cares.
Very excellent professor. Would recommend to anyone interested. You wont regret it. Very clear, keeps class interesting, fun, very nice and respectful.
100% recommend Andy as a teacher. He is amazing. He not only is engaging but helps you learn, without feeling like its work. He is very down to earth if you are ever struggling in the class in any way, he wants to help. In the beginning of the semester I was struggling and went to his office hour in tears. He helped me and I finished with a 97%.
I think his is the best class I've ever taken. Lectures are fascinating. Andy is not just a genuinely great professor but a genuinely great person. You can tell he deeply enjoys connecting personally with his students, especially over coursework. Tip for new students of his: take advantage of office hours, right away in the semester.
Andy is great! This was my first online class and I took it over the summer so it moved pretty quick. assignments are simple and straightforward and always due on Sundays and Thursdays. Reading is interesting, but there is a lot of it. Tests aren't too hard and there are a lot of extra credit options!
I would DEFINITELY recommend Andy for any psychology course you need to take. He is willing to help and connect with his students. He makes psychology interesting and keeps everyone engaged. There is a bit of reading to do but its all worth it. TAKE HIS CLASS!!
Andy has very clear expectations for his students and gives you the entire course schedule on day 1. His tests are fairly easy: as long as you read the material and are conscious during class, you'll get an A. His gives many opportunities for extra credit, though it's only meant to help round up close grades. He makes the class very interesting.
Andy is such a helpful professor. He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. Participation matters somewhat, tests were exactly what he'd say (easy eve if you only did minimum amount of homework), and a lot of it came from in class lectures. Definitely go to his office hours and have tea with him!
Andy is really great to talk to, he's always there for you. There is a lot of reading material however if you manage your time it's doable. I recommend Andy, he's a great professor!
Took his class online and he was always very willing to help whenever someone needed it. He gave great feedback on our discussions and with any questions we had. He graded pretty fast and fair. If you participated in the discussions then you got most of the points. The four tests were a little difficult but he gave you some materials to study!
Andy is a great professor who is always available to his students if they have a question. He responds and grades material pretty fast. His exams are pretty tough, but if you read the assigned work you will do well.
Easy class, but way too many discussion posts required. Sometimes more than 10 per week. He posted a weekly video recapping the topic for the week, and discussing what was ahead. This was very helpful.
Awesome instructor - obviously cares about the topic and his students. You have to have the textbook and read in order to pass. Even though it was an online class, it keeps you busy - small handful of assignments and reading per week. Not overly challenging. I'd definitely take other classes from this professor.
Andy is a really good teacher (Yes Andy, not Prof. Tix) He's very insperational and I was always excited to show up to his class. He really makes you intrested in the topics discused and his lectures are good but can stray off topic. Best teacher I've had so far. I'm taking another one of his classes next semester
Amazing professor! He obviously cares about his students and loves his job. I heard he has a reputation for giving hard tests, but honestly I didn't study for 3/4 of the tests and I got an A or B+ on all of them (even the final). Andy is more interested in educating you than being a tough grader. You'll be fine if you pay attention!
I thought he was terrible. Pointless assignments such as: go in nature and discuss how it made you feel, interview someone who has been married for a long time tell what you learned. Things that didn't really teach much. Asked for help he told me I was in class all semester. Assignments didn't reflect test that were all textbook related.
I think Professor TIx was a great teacher and you can tell he's definitely passionate about psychology. He made me become so much more interested in the field of psychology and really provided great insight throughout the course. He takes papers seriously, especially reference page, so double-check your work. he is always willing to check it first.
Andy is one of the best professors I have ever had during my college career so far, and I enjoy every class I have with him ( I am also taking intro to psyc.).. I highly recommend taking his classes as you will gain a lot from them! Andy also shows that he cares for his students(he invites students to his office hours) and teaches concepts cleary.
Andy (as he prefers to be called by his students) loves psychology. You can tell even from being in an online class. He cares about is students and is always quick to and ready to help. Sometimes he can be a little unclear about what is expected. Be ready to read and take notes as most of the exams consist of defining terms.
Very chill, wants to hear your ideas. Online course was pretty easy, just a lot of discussion posts. He's very nice and easy to meet with. Likes to talk about psychology and definitely loves his job and his students. You must meet with him a couple times in the semester to pass, but you just talk about your favorite course material so far.
Andy was by far the best Professor I have had so far. I took his class online and he communicated so well. If you ever had questions, he encourged to ask and always come to him. There were plenty of changes to speak with him and get feedback. I would recommend this professor to anyone that wants to take a psych class.
Really easy class and a great professor. Loves to connect what you are learning to the world and personal life. Would highly recommend!
Andy is a great teacher whos invested in his students. I took his online intro to psychology class and he made sure he had a relationship with each of his students.
Has great stories and gives great advice about questions you might have about your future.
One of my favorite professors. I'd definitely recommend taking him for a class.
Definitely cares about teaching. You can learn a lot and get good grades in the class without having to do much work. Fun class
Andy is the best teacher ive had in my 4 semesters at Normandale. Extremely down to earth. Respectful and respectable. If you cant get along with Andy, and pass his classes, I worry about the prospect of you attaining a college degree.
To be honest, I don't know why I took this class because I didn't need it for the major I am going in. I regret taking this class. Tix is a nice guy and his assignments are easy and he gives extra credit but there is so much you need to know for the exam. His exams look nothing like the textbook he makes us read.
Tix was very good overall, but didnt give feedback for the grades he gave. Seemed to be either 100% (if you did the work) or 0%. This was good for the 500word requirements, but when you actually put in effort, to not get any feedback was off-putting. Tests were tough, but this class should be an easy A if you do the reading and required posts.
Heavy exam that are 50 points. Other assignments are 2/3 points. Lots of papers.
I very much enjoyed taking Social Psychology with him! He is very nice and interpersonal. Very very friendly. Don't be thrown off by that. He is genuine and not a creep, though some things could be perceived that way. For example, during office hours he loves to have tea with his students. That is just a way he makes things more comfortable.
Andy is pretty clear and concise. He makes it very clear what he expects, when things are due, and what will be on the test. If you aren't into studying hard, reading lots, and memorizing a good chunk of things for each exam, don't take this class. Definitely need to go to class also; it makes it way easier to succeed IMO
Very kind and ready to help students. Go to class, pay attention and you will do fine. He also has "tea time" he will make tea for students in office hours and talk about whatever you want. He is truly there for his students
Andy is a deep thinker and a great guy to talk to. As a professor, he is also one of the best. If you take his online class, just make sure not to skip doing any audiovisual assignments. It might be tempting because you can often get away with it, but, when the exams come, you'll wish you had done them earlier.
Andy is one of the best professors I've ever had. He never lectures, all classes are based on discussion. There is a lot of reading homework but its usually very interesting. He is always open to help and truly cares about his students.
Multiple choice tests were somewhat tricky. Do the homework on time, and read the book. Great teacher, and cares for his students.
Wonderful at what he does. I took away a lot from his teachings.
Too many sources. The instructor post too many readings, audios, and videos. The exams are horrible.
Andy is a nice man. but that honestly doesnt matter when it comes to your grade. He always welcomes students in his office hours for a cup of tea (literally he serves you tea, practically forces you to drink it). but anywho, his tests are hard. Theres alot of reading, its boring. And he creates questions in the exams that expects you to think alot.
Andy was an amazing teacher and I would highly recommend taking his class! He really cares about his students and also makes sure to make the content in the course applicable to life outside the classroom. Take this class you won't regret it!

Andy does an AMAZING job at teaching the concepts he will be testing on. He offers plenty of EC as well as outside help. It's a lot of reading between the textbook, articles, podcasts & videos but I suggest using the audiobook along with textbook. If you don't pass this class, it has nothing to do with Andy as a teacher, the student is not trying.
Andy is such a nice guy! Even though the class was online only he was very helpful and kind. I can tell he's really knowledgeable, and found the content he made for us to read and watch by him were very introspective and intriguing. I wish I could have taken an in-person class with him, since I'm transferring next semester. Andy, I wish you well!
One of the best classes at Normandale. Theres 4 tests, including the final and weekly discussion boards posts. Theres about 6 posts weekly (2 actual posts and 4 replies) so it gets a bit repetitive and tedious. Lots of extra credit opportunities but its a lot to read and study! He also has a LOT of audiovisuals which are just articles/videos.
Really nice professor who wants his students to enjoy the class. Work for the week generally includes reading a chapter and watching a video and then doing 2 discussions with responses. Could do the week's worth of work in a day. Four tests the entire semester and has a few challenging extra credit opportunities (such as reading a book).
Prof Tix is a pretty solid professor. The class was structured well, and there were only 3 or 4 tests and a final essay. There were weekly readings and discussion posts, but overall it was a pretty easy class, but you could still learn a lot of things that could actually help you in life.
Good teacher. Took intro to psych as a summer class, so there was little time to learn a lot of material, but Andy did a good job covering it and spliting it into manageable doses. At least for this class, it's a lot of work, but he grades fair. Would recommend to anyone.
If you forget to do something that is a big part of your grade, he is pretty lenient on letting you do it again. Very heavy on reading, some weeks it's over 80 pages of reading and notes. 2 assignments weely, can get repetitive. Not a lot of time to do work, only 4 days. Cares about students and their mental health.
The kindest prof. I've ever had, I reached out to him regarding struggling with my mental health and responded almost instantly. He uses some textbook readings, but also a ton of videos. Weekly discussions, few exams. He gives sooo much helpful info, it's impossible to fail! TAKE MR. TIX!!!
He is a great, kind man but unfortunately his teaching skills did not match my learning skills, and granite I believe even if the teachers does not teach well or too complicated the student can achieve and it all depends on the students well I stand corrected that, that is not the case, the teacher counts alot,
Andy is amazing. I took his course during the summer so it was accelerated and a ton of work each week but you can tell he really wants you to be successful. He does reviews before quizzes which are really helpful. Be prepared to do a lot fo reading. Over all I would definitely recommend taking his class! My favorite professor so far!
Tix is an amazing psych professor at Normandale. Hes my top 3 favorites at the school and I didnt even have him in person. Hes super charismatic and cares about each one of his students. His exams make up for roughly 80% of your grade, but he gives you every section from the lectures that will be covered on exams.
Awesome class. He welcomes questions and discussion.Great teacher
Andy Is amazing! My favorite professor at Normandale. Exams aren't too difficult if you go to class. PASS sessions are helpful for exams. Very lenient on grading. Fairly easy A, just be prepared for about a chapter of reading a week. Andy explains the content well in class so I'd recommend going. Overall a great professor! Would take again.
Very kind, and seems genuinely interested in students' lives. Offers help and is understanding.
I really liked Andy! He made some topics a lot more clear and had a lot of review sessions. The only thing I would say is that he assigns 1-2 chapters a week, at least most weeks.
No other coursework throughout the semester other than discussions (around 6 posts weekly). Learned more about self-improvement (which I did appreciate) than I learned about psych. Didn't do a single reading from the textbook and still managed to get an A. 2-point extra credit opportunities add up when the class is only out of 200ish points overall
Professor Tix cares for every student, he gives great lectures (even asynchronously) and really engages with every student. Most weeks there are 2 Discussion posts each with 2 replies (about 300 words for the main post and 100 for the replies adding up to about 1000 words a week) and that is the main coursework. Easy tests and exams, very easy A.
I liked him a lot because he was a very caring and understaing person, and his lectures were amazing and very easy to understand.
very picky guy i believe all of his reviews are outdated dude isn't the same anymore doesnt accept late work even if you have a medical or family emergency ,very picky grader , all of his assignments are on a syllabus which sucks would not recommend. probably the worst extra credit ive seen ever he offers just only 3 points of extra
The nicest guy ever, but the class itself was so boring. It was more of a study skills/intro to science/finding your path class than actual psych. It felt a lot more like high school than college. Only was graded on a couple projects and journal, so you better do well on the tests if you want to get a decent grade.
Dr. Tix was one of the best professors I have ever had. He had a great system to his course, and he would pay attention to all of his students, checking in and providing great feedback. If you take the time to read & do the homework, you will do well. His class made me even more interested in psych! I would definitely recommend him, he is awesome!
Dr. Tix is an amazing teacher and person, he cares about his students. Always accessible outside of class if needed. His lectures (online) are amazing. Discussion posts every week, some assignments (if you do them, you get all the points), and an exam every few weeks with a Zoom meeting for those who want the review.
He had odd class expectations and became sensitve and had mini meltdowns when these weren't met. He also went out of his way to pick on specific students
Professor Tix is great at explaining topics and keeping students engaged His classes are interesting and he's always ready to help and He genuinely cares about the success of each of his students.
This professor truly has put his life into this course. The course is about how to succeed in life and use psychological principles about how to thrive in school and how to be happy. This has been the most impactful course in my life.
You can tell he enjoys what he does and he really cares about the material and teaching it. Homework is a bit time consuming but not necessarily hard. Watch out for the panel discussion assignment, it's a 90 minute, very boring video. Course projects are way easier than they seem.
Andy is a super caring professor and has amazing lecturers. His class is fairly easy, it is 3 exams, a journal, 3 projects, and a final, just review notes and slides before exams and use a note sheet. There are also a few quizlets that are super helpful. You don't really need to read the textbook, just skim it to complete the course journal.
Don't be overwhelmed by the content in the syllabus or the course projects. Stay on top of assignments and due dates. Andy relates to students based on their life experiences and uses his lectures to teach a greater life lesson in happiness. Course and expectations are laid out clearly. Assignments can be fun to do because they relate to you.
Had Prof Tix in 2018, and loved the class. He wants opinions, feedback, and participation. Having open discussions are awesome with him. I decided to continue education in psych cuz of this class actually. just read, try your best, and stay on top of assignments, you'll be okay, I promise.
Andy is a great professor who makes the content engaging. The class has a good amount of work, but attending lectures and using resources like unstuck ai can really help. Overall, an enjoyable and manageable course.
great prof
Majority of your grade comes from the exams and you can't pass the course without getting a good grade or decent one in the exams. The assignment arn't even worth 10% of your grade more like 5%, Nice professor just not a good grading system to for to students pass. Majority of the time your reading not bad but hard to rember that, then take exams.
Andy was the sweetest and most caring professor I had all year. He took the time to read our assignments and give us significant responses. Very fair grader and fast as well. I would take him for every psyc class if I could!
Organized and approachable professor. Lectures are clear, and supplemental materials are shared. The course includes exams that reflect material from class and readings. Weekly to do lists and extra credit opportunities to help students stay on track.
