very easy professor. the lab is a joke and he gives away points left and right. he is pretty fair in general. his only drawback is that his lectures are pretty bad but he is always willing to answer questions and talk about grades. take his class
He took over the class at the last minute due to a professor bailing 2 days before classes. He did a great job for his first time teaching the subject. He is a great guy and I still like to talk to him in the halls. He is straight forward with teaching and test and his classes were always fun.
He was an awesome teacher, he had so much passion for what he was teaching. His tests were extremely fair, (lots of e.c.) and he always told you specifically what would be on them. He made his lectures very interesting and even brought in live critters to making class much more enjoyable
He was an AWESOME teacher! He made biology interesting. He was very fair when it came to the tests...gave us a lot of extra credit!! He was also very helpful and easy to talk to if you need clarity on anything. I definetly recommend this teacher!
Great teacher, if you put in the effort you are rewarded. Very clear and helpful. Take his class.
one of the best teachers ive had. very clear and always willing to help. easy to pass this class if you attend class and lab.
he was tight. real laid back treated students with respect and glady answered questions. made all the tests clear and offered 4 pts extra credit points on every test and also various other e.c. throughout the semester. good times
Awsome!
BY FAR THE EASIEST "A+"I HAVE EVER HAD TO NOT WORK FOR!!!! tells you the test word for word tells you the lab word for word all u gotta to is sit, and labs were like 30 minutes long insted of hours upon hours....and just a easy fun guy to talk to
EASY EASY EASY!!! tells you everything, short short labs, can actually use a computer correctly and hes fun!
all you guys are trippin or something this teacher isnt easy at all. his labs are a pain. i have only been in his class for a while but i can tell he is a hard as hell teacher. he makes you do so much work and his test are so hard
great teacher! you will love the class. thats all i can say! labs are easy.
He is without a doubt one of the best teachers I have ever had. His class was really interesting and easy. The labs were fun and short... His teaching is very clear and he's willing to explain things over again. He's really laid back... great teacher
Awsome and patient
He's the best!!
Andy is the most amazing teacher ever! He is so helpful and supportive. He is very passionate about science, and it rubs off.
Really cool Texan. He loves to explain things and very patient. His practical exams were tricky and lecture exams were tricky in the way they were worded. But a great teacher
Awesome teacher! If you have to take this class, take it with him. In fact, take any class he teaches. He is a great professor. Lab is awesome. Test are challenging, but he is fare.
Very interesting teacher and allowed students to ask questions nomatter how random. Extremely knowledgable
Hands down, the BEST teacher I have EVER had! If you want to learn something and get a good grade for it, take one of Dr.Baldwins classes. Passionate, intelligent, and helpful, the best combination for a professor!
Good helpful teacher. He points out what will be on the exams and goes over whatever you need help understanding. Plenty of extra credit. His questions on the exams can get tricky sometimes but go up and ask for his help on them, he well help you.
He is a great teacher, person, and friend. I would recommend anyone not very interested, or just a bit frightened of Biology to take his class. He makes it fun and will spark the interest in just about anyone. Hands down the best teacher at MCC.
I really liked him as a person and he is a good teacher because he is passionate about his subject. However if you don't do well on the first two tests, dont expect to pass because they are very hard. The last two tests are a lot easier and the extra credit is awesome because it has nothing to do with biology.
Extremely knowledgable!!! He is the greatest teacher I have ever had!!!!!! He is very very very helpful and friendly. He love to teach and help all his students. He is very fair with everybody. I can not stop writting how great he is. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Baldwin no doubt is a wonderful teacher and individual... however, if your thing is NOT science, do not take him... Lectures and lecture notes are pretty much all you have to guide you unless you but the book which is optional. Four exams including a lab exam are all that count towards your grade, so study hard!
The best Biology Teacher I have ever had, He promotes class room discussion, take that time to ask all the question you have, he gives clear answers.
Great Professor
COOL, I LIKE THE CLASS
Dr. Baldwin was definitely one of the best teachers I have ever had, he made Biology interesting. His tests aren't easy, but if you go to class he explains the material very well and the labs help to further convey the information. He has a passion for teaching and wants to help out students. He is one teacher you can't afford to miss out on.
Very Knowledgeable and will answer your questions. Pay very close attention and take good notes and you will do fine. Took BIO100 summer 07
Awesome. Yes, I'm like the tenth person to say that but that pretty much sums him up.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Everyone else sums him up pretty well.
I went into this class thinking it was going to be extremely boring but he proved me wrong. He's not only a great teacher but he's also a great guy! Fun to talk to, very clear and understanding, funny. If you don't like biology, take this guy! He will make you love the subject!
Study the test guides he provides, attend and listen in class. You should do fine. However, if you're still struggling... go to his office hours. He is MORE than willing to clarify any confusions you have.
He is an awesome teacher. He makes it easy so that people who are not interested in science don't end up hating it. One of the easiest classes I have ever taken, yet I learned a lot... great combo. Overall A+
He is a really good teacher. I am going to take BIO 201 next semester and I wish he taught becasue he really knows how to explain everything so you understand it. Write down EVERYTHING he writes or says and you will do great! I got 102% in the class...I thought I was hecka smart, then I took BIO 181 and got a low B...he is really good.
He is hot!
Wow! Dr. Baldwin was amazing! He is willing to answer any questions and he totally wants you to succeed. I definitely recommend him to anyone. He does everything he can to help you to understand what he's teaching. There's like no homework and if you take notes and listen, you do fine on the tests. Definitely loved his class!
I took his class in the summer and I must say even if you hate science or have never taken a science credit since your high school days, he will make it so easy for you to understand. He emails you back right away, no homework for the summer class and you don't need to buy the book. If you show up every day and study you will pass this class easily
I absolutely loved professor baldwin!!! He is so smart, so helpful and even if you dont really care about biology you will enjoy his class. Makes it really interesting and helps you in whatever ways he can. He knows everything there is to know about biology. He spent more than 10 years in school, he said it was all worth it bc he loves teaching!!
Andy is a teacher who cares about his students and his subject matter. He is very helpful and friendly. If you read the chapter and review your class notes the tests should be very simple.
Andy rocks! This is one of only two professors I've really really enjoyed going to class for out of a 3 year period. His tests and labs are easy and fun. I'm really gonna miss this guy. :(
Dr. Baldwin is an awesome teacher. He really is pasionate about bio and cares that his students learn. I have not had a teacher as great as him!!
Very smart, great lecturer. Always puts information in ways that everyone can understand. Absolutely loves teaching BIO and is one of the nicer teachers I've ever had. Only problem I had was that the tests were slightly harder than I expected (study well for them!).
DR. Baldwin truly loves his subject and it shows in the way he teaches his class. He has plenty of office hours and is always willing to help, there is no book required and he keeps the whole class involved in lecture. The tests and be tricky but as long as you pay attention and take good notes you will do fine best BIO teacher ever.
Great instructor. He is very helpful, explains the material in a down to earth way, and he is very passionate about the subject. I would recommend this professor to anyone.
Dr. Baldwin Is one of the most amazing teachers that I have ever had he truly loves his work and enjoys being able to share his knowledge with students. His classes are intense and require a lot of time but if you show up and do the work there will be no problem passing the 3test. There is little to no home work and the labs are exciting and fun.
Andy's enthusiasm and love for biology will rub off on you! For example, my boyfriend HATED all science going through high school and dreading having to take a BIO class in college, but after taking BIO with Andy, he is in love with science! Andy makes biology understandable and fun, plus he's an overall great guy! TAKE HIM!
Mr. Baldwin is a fantastic teacher! He is passionate about biology, and he knows how to teach the subject in a way that makes in easy to understand! If you pay attention to his lectures and take good notes (make sure when he says it might be on the test that you write it down and KNOW the answer) you'll do very well in this class. He's helpful too!
Dr. Baldwin's enthusiasm for Biology is astounding. He is patient, extremely helpful and thorough when a student has a question, and overall a very intelligent dude who loves biology and will probably make you love biology too.
Took this class so I could get a science credit and move on. Andy has a unique way of teaching Biology that is very well rounded and explains anything a student asks about. 3 tests and minimal homework made it easier to focus on notes and test preparation, which he gives a great review before each test. I recommend this class to anyone.
Andy made the class interesting, he took time to answer questions about everything. Almost no homework, did not need to buy the book. He posts all the slides from lectures online. Tests are challenging but he gives a good review. Nice guy, loves biology great teacher. I had no interest in Biology before this class! I recommend it to anyone!
Best lab science class I have taken so far in my course studies.
Absolutely amazing. Best professor I've had in college in any subject so far! I always liked science but this class made me love it. He is amazing and you need to take him!! No homework, DON'T buy the book, labs are fun. Just study, tests can be tricky. I studied hard and got an A, so if you work for it it's easy. Love him!
Loved it, learned a lot! Recommend!
Nice guy, but not a good teacher. His tests are confusing and consist of all of your grade. He does zero teaching during the lab and refuses to curve. Definitely leaves something to be desired...
ANDY IS MY FAVORITE TEACHER AT THIS SCHOOL. He lectures really well and is more than willing to help during labs. He gives you an idea of what's going to be on tests, and even lets you argue your answers. No homework! Would not buy the textbook unless you're a Bio major (everything's in his ppt's). Be sure to study for the tests and practicals!!!
Andy is AWESOME. Mostly hands on learning which made it fun and interesting. I didn't use the book, just reviewed the power points and lab packets given. Despite saying several times that he doesn't curve, there was a big curve in the end. This was a little frustrating for people who had already earned an A. Being too kind may be his biggest flaw.
I LOVE ANDY! Super nice, passionate, and an awesome lecturer. He made me love bio! Got an A on everything assigned. Kind of baffled some of my peers didn't, but if you study there's no excuse. Didn't buy the book, just copied everything he put on the board & used his PowerPoints he puts online. I wish he taught more classes; I'd take them all!
Only 4 exams, around 25 multiple choice and 4 essay questions worth 10 points each. Does not provide information beside lecturing. Smart man, difficult teacher.
I've taken 2 classes with Dr. Baldwin, BIO 100 and BIO 182. Not only does he exude enthusiasm for biology, he also wants to get students involved and excited about it, too. Attend class and study, tests are difficult. He's really preparing you to become a professional, and will meet with you to discuss your challenges and strengths in the class.
If you have the opportunity to take a class with Dr. Baldwin you need to do it. He makes you work for your grade, but in the process helps foster the critical thinking skills and study habits that are absolutely necessary if you plan on pursuing a biology degree. Told great stories and truly cared about every person in his class.
This is the best biology professor I have ever had. The course itself is a lot. But he makes sure you understand it and he has a lot of life experiences to go with his lectures. If you reach out for help and work for your grade you can pass and he will help you, but if you don't even try, probably won't do so good.
Dr. Baldwin is an amazing professor who cares about the success of his students, but will not just hand you a good grade. He makes his lectures relatable and is extremely open to feedback. The Bio182 class requires a lot of memorization, which for most folks requires a lot of work outside of the classroom. If you put in the work, you will do well.
I think he is one of the best professors I've ever had. I truly enjoy attending his lectures because he truly enjoys teaching it. He is really helpful if you have any questions (whether in class or emailed to him) and no question is a stupid question. I have so much praise for this man.
Dr. Baldwin is a wonderful professor and an awesome person. The points from the class all come from tests. He makes sure that you know what the exam will cover, as to make studying easier. I would definitely recommend taking a class with Dr. Baldwin.
Dr. Andy is awesome, one of the best instructors at MCC (if not the BEST), his lectures are entertaining. He maid biology fun and easy to understand, if you give this class a bit of time you'll pass with an A, WOULD DEFINITELY TAKE AGAIN!!
Great professor that knows his stuff.
Love love love! His lectures are interesting and his labs are very straight forward. There's no homework but it's up to you to make sure you are prepared for class and lab practicals, so you really learn how to manage your time to study. He is always available if you need him and responds quickly to emails. Just make sure you show up! TAKE HIM!
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. He is NOT straight forward. He lectures all day long. Exams and practicals are your whole grade, if you fail one exam be prepared to not succeed in the course. His practicals are all anatomy even though its "BIO182". He is a very difficult teacher. If he is your only option, be prepared to study 24-7.
Well let me say this, he is truly a nice person, BUT I hated this class with passion! I hated the fact that exams were soooooooo difficult. It was all about CRITICAL thinking. On short essay questions dont even try, doesnt matter what you put, he has a negative comment! This is not a graduate school, its a community college class!
Dr. Baldwin is an excellent professor. If you are a biology major I highly recommend taking his course. He makes you use your critical thinking skills and the practicals really prepare you for future biology courses. He makes lectures really interesting and makes sure you know exactly what hes going to put on the exams and pushes you to be better.
truly a kind person, and rounds grades up. be prepared to study all day long. exams are difficult, you HAVE to utilize office hours.
He's amazing!!! He's incredibly helpful and understanding. Tests are hard but if you understand lecture material you will do well. The way he teaches is very understandable. There's never any surprise material on tests, everything is discussed in class.
Dr. Baldwin was knowledgable but gave no study guides, had long lectures with no interactive material, and very difficult tests. The lab practical had an average of 44% - I have very good grades, and have taken many hard classes, but the study load in this class was ridiculous. There was also no clear path to success, just "study everything."
Even with a family issue this semester and a temporarily LOA, Andy did everything he could to keep the semester on track and was so fair with grading and lecture material. He is such a personable guy, & truly cares about the students and the material. Grades are based on tests and practicals, but he buffers points. Andy is a WONDERFUL professor.
Andy is a great professor! He is a man who truly knows his stuff, and he wants his students to know their stuff too. The lab practicals are memorization and spelling heavy, and the tests have questions that require students to fully understand the class material. Nevertheless, whatever Andy does is reasonable, and for that, I respect him greatly.
He can be short tempered and a bit moody when he feels like you're not giving the class the effort that he thinks it deserves. But if you stick with him and don't piss him off, you'll get a passing grade. He's very connected on campus so staying on his good side can have many benefits.
Dr. Andy is knowledgable. But I hated this class. His lecture really boring and all day long. His test very difficult with all CRITICAL thinking. He gave negative comments and required reading his textbook to write the chapter review. Also his labs are a pain cuz no guide. He's the worse teacher I ever have and I would not recommend him to anyone.
If you are serious student don't take this class. I'm pre-med and I took the class to review for the MATs. It's a middle school level class. Lots of essay questions. I felt cheated.
Fantastic guy and great class. He cares so much about his job, his students, and biology. The lecture is just, well, lecture with class discussion and a few unit exams. Homework is very minimal and is just a way to boost your grade. The lab is more difficult with memorization for the practicals but still not bad at all Would absolutely recommend
This class is like a kindergarten biology class. It's stupidly easy which is an overstatement. I learned more in middle school biology. If you actually want to learn anything AVOID. The guy is clueless about technology. Kindergarten level.
Grade is determined almost entirely by exams. They are difficult, and he really challenges you to think critically. A few activities act as "buffers". Lab practicals involve a lot of memorization. That being said I loved taking this class with Dr. Baldwin. He's a super knowledgeable guy and you can tell he is enthusiastic about the subject.
Professor Baldwin is a clear and simple professor. Every week there were 2 assignments and they were easy ways to boost your grade. The grade is mostly based on exams which were essay questions but if you struggle he is very altruistic. I emailed him almost every week and he was accommodating and understanding. He is there to help you!
Professor Baldwin is a great professor. As long as you put the time and effort in you will do just fine in the class. Took the class for credit but the topics are interesting and he made me enjoy what I was learning. Gives feedback, make sure you follow instructions.
This is my favorite science teacher yet. The lab will be hard but overall the teacher will give you the resources to pass of you do put in the time and energy needed personally. I was going to rate him lower after the first lab practical but he completely changed the second lab practical to round out our chances of success.
Pre-med or biology majors AVOID. This is a kindergarden level class and will not help for your MCATS. I learned more in middle school science. I'm pre-Med and this class was useless. He's not good with technology so be prepared for a remedial old-dated class.
One of my favorite professors of all time. He has lived an interesting life and shares it in his lectures. I am terrible at science but he mad it fun. It is a lecture heavy class. He is very open to concerns about missed questions on tests and will correct them if it is correct. Awesome guy I definitely recommend.
I loved taking bio100 with professor Baldwin and he made everything make sense
He clearly understands his field and the course material very well, and based on the other reviews here I'm inclined to believe he'd probably be great in an in-person course, but I absolutely cannot recommend taking an online course with him. The main issues being his poor written communication skills and general disregard for his online students.
Dr. Andy has been my favorite professor by far! You can tell he is passionate about science and genuinely cares about the next generation of scientists. He will challenge you to think critically, encourages curiosity, and is great at explaining concepts in an engaging way. Glad I got to take his class!
If you are reading this please please please take Andrew Baldwin for any biology class. His lectures and test are challenging enough to help you learn but he is very patient and willing to work with the students to help them in any way. Andre Baldwin is one of the best professors that I have ever had. He is a stand up guy who genuinely cares.
He is very knowledgeable about biology and he gives good lectures. However, his tests are not it . There is so many slides and he will ask you the most specific questions. The class was pretty test heavy. The first practical was very hard. The average was a failing grade and he said that it's common.
