Andy is tons of fun! he doesn't knock down other peoples beliefs, such as religion,astrology,etc...you will enjoy this man's humor & never forget him! all instructors should take lessons from this man.
Andy really covered alot of material, but made the class interesting. He's easy to understand, and is down to earth. Excellent experience. Thanks, Andy!!!
he is the best instructor ever
Great guy. Lots of fun. If you wanna get through a basic overview of psychology and not want to kill yourself just so you can get some sleep in class take this one. My other friends took other classes from other professors and they complained. I didn't complain because I had Mr. Becker.
great teacher
Excellent instructor, should be paid alot more. I really learned alot and enjoyed is methods. Thanks Andrew.
Andrew is the BEST! He makes his classes fun even if you are not interested in Psy. He gets right down to the main points of each chapters and is welling to help any one after class if you ask him for help. I would highly recommend any student to take his class. You will definately learn from this man.
....AWE, Andy is GREAT FUN!!!! Couldn't ask for a better instructor, he made psy 220 fun on a sunday evening.... Take his class he'll make psy220 easy and fun to learn..... THX ANDY!!!!
great helpful instructor
Andy is a fun and helpful instructor. He tells stories of his experiences in life and greets everyone with ease. I would highly recommend him for any Psy classes. Thanks Andy!
class can drag on but is a very easy teacher. during lectures he tells what will be on exams, and gives good study guides. He also offers a lot of extra credit. His class is very easy and fun. Take him the class is great.
He was an awesome teacher! Andy was so helpful and he is REALLY entertaining! He makes the subject matter fun. Andy, you are awesome!
Andy is a great professor and gives us study guides and makes the subject great fun
Very difficult to comprehend the material, But he is funny
Andy is a very good up beat instructor and dos'nt demand you call him DR Becker. he works with you if you are willing. Extra credit always helps to some of us. I recommend Andy.
Andy is a great teacher. He doesn't rely on Powerpoint to teach the class for him. He has a great sense of humor and makes the material interesting. His tests are not easy but you are well informed on what to study by his review sheets. I highly recommend him.
I escaped from Nariman Afari to Andy's class. Thank god!
I like Andy a lot. He is very nice and very funny in his teaching style. I felt that it was a bit hard to prepare for the tests. He gives students a study guide but only one week before the test. I would take him again for that he will let you pass and he is truly a good person.
Helluva lot a fun. The work is fairly easy, and you get study guides. He's pretty laid back.
I did not learn anything from Andy this semester. His tests are easy for anyone who knows how to cram fifteen minutes prior to taking one. He makes you write one paper, which he only grades for typos. He takes attendance, but doesn't drop for nonattendance, so the only important days are test days. Take him for an easy A, not w/intention to learn.
He is nice, funny and easy. The text book was AWESOME in that it was easy to use. He lets some people use the class as a therapy session which is annoying, but tells you what to study. So do it and your fine!
Lectures and tests straight from the book so no need to take notes. Provides pre-exam study sheets. He's very knowledgeable, but bored with teaching. He is unusually patient and answers even the dumbest questions thoroughly and without condescension.
He is a very funny, well educated teacher that made the very boring Memory and Learning class interesting. He likes to tell stories and class got out early just about EVERY meeting. He goes through each chapter of the book and gives 3 tests. No homework really, just a research paper that wasn't bad at all. He understands absences too...
Okay, so I got an A but I had to work hard for it. Andy's a totally cool guy, but he barely skims over the material in class & then dismisses an hour early, so you have to study the text on your own. Form a study group before exams & use his study guide, take a ton of notes, do all the readings & you'll pass. Do ALL his extra credit to earn an A.
COOL teach!
Mr Becker is the best teacher to take this class with. His test reviews are spot on. So make sure you write all the questions down. Then get flash cards and look the stuff up in the book and STUDY! I got an A and that was what I did. His lectures are brief but he's a very entertaining teacher.
Andy is a great instructor with lots of information provided in class. Enjoyed every minute of it. Going to take him next year for Dvp. Psych. Shorts crack me up!
Pretty Good sense of humor.
Overall, I would recommend Mr. Becker. His class is fairy easy, provided you study the material. He gives study guides before each exam that outline the material exactly. He can be rather disorganized during lectures, but follows the chapters in the textbook, so you can refer back to it if you miss anything.
Andy Becker is one of the best Phych professors at CNM. His study guides are a little scrambled, but the tests are spot on if you read the book and just study the material. This should be an A or B easy. It would be nice if Andy would have used more visual aides in his course, but I would rather have a good grade. I will take more courses w/him.
Good Class
This class was a good class. He isn't strict on attendance, but I prefer to show up if you want to learn something. Study for the tests and read the text material and you'll get an easy A or B.
Andrew Becker is pretty good. The course isn't hard at all, so there's no reason not to pull an A or B. My biggest complaint is that he regurgitates the text book when he lectures. There's no passion in his teaching which is a bummer. Other than that, he's very easy to work with. Just do the reading & you'll do fine.
He gives really good and memorable examples to help us understand the material. The tests were never as bad as we were anticipating them to be.
A lot of my classmates did not like the way he taught. As for me, he offered TONS of extra credit and graded VERY easily. He gives you everything you need, but you have to memorize it all.
Took Psych I and Psych II with Andy. Great teacher. makes class very interesting. If you make an outline and follow his lectures you will do well! Lots of memorization. Just show up for class!! Gives you extra credit which is very important to add to your grade.
Very flexible teacher. Not the most interesting lectures since he mostly lists terms we need to know on the board. Show up to class, know the terms, you will get an A.
Great guy, but I had difficulty with his teaching style. His lectures aren't very clear and they jump around. I'm never quite sure what exactly we should be learning. He does give study guides for the tests though and if you study those and pay attention in review you will do fine.
Very funny and sweet. His teaching style is very confusing but if you follow the book and memorize everything you will pass. Take advantage of the extra credit.
Andrew was a fun Instructor as far as his lectures. He reminded me of a surfer. Very educated and knows what he teaches. Attend class, do the xtra credit and study for your exams and you'll pass. I'll miss his sence of humor!
Andy is a hilarious guy, great sense of humor. His teaching style takes a little bit to get used to as he jumps around, but just pay attention in review and use your study guide and you'll EASILY pass. Also he's a cutie so great to look at all class period.
I did not try and thought I was going to get a C, but got an A?
He is a relaxed teacher. Not too tough on attendance. Sometimes it is hard to follow him but following along it the text book helps. Would take him again!
Becker is a really cool professor.Lectures follow text perfectly.Understands attendance issues.Prepare u with study guide for 3tests,which is extremely helpful.1 research paper, points for submitting possible exam question which may/may not appear on tests.Reflection paper on Tourette's video.Learning&Memory class was interesting;cool teach!
Andy is an awesome professor, he is all over the place at times, but if boring lectures are what you can concentrate with, he is not the teacher for you. He makes terms very easy o understand by using lots of examples.
Andy is an excellent teacher! I have taken him for three different psychology classes, and every time it's an absolute blast! His lectures get to the point but he has great stories to share as well. Also, he's cuuuute! And always wears shorts, no matter what weather we're having.
Andy is a pretty good guy, and he grades fairly. I didn't mind going to his class, but there were times when it got a little boring. He tries hard to make it fun though. I would take Andy again for any other classes he might be teaching.
He's great. Easy professor. Helpful and very funny
What a nice guy! His class was funny and interesting. Lots of opportunity to earn extra credit. I would recommend him to anyone! He's also very reasonable about absences and will excuse them if you speak to him about them. I look forward to taking other classes with him.
GREAT PROFESSOR, HE MADE THE CLASS FUN AND EDUCATIONAL!
Very nice, laid back and funny guy! Always made class interesting!
Andy is a really nice professor. He will go out of his way to help you if you need it even if it has to do with attendance or taking a test because you can't make it to class that day. If you read the textbook and study for the tests you can get an A. Also there is a paper but with a minimal amount of work you can get an A.
Andy is a great professor. He is very helpful. Do the work, study and you will do fine in Andy's classes.
I just finished taking Andy for the second time, and I think he is awesome. Cognitive was a difficult class, but it was do-able. He allowed a lot of extra credit, and I was grateful. I enjoyed the class. A research paper and presentation were required. Overall, it was an interesting class, and I was happy I took it. He gives you credit for trying!!
Love him! Awesome, funny teacher!
Great teacher! Explained things and gave examples that were easy to understand. He used a lot of humor in his lectures. Was a fun class to attend!
Great teacher! Uses humor to get points across. A little foul-mouthed, but still very funny. He answers questions, and only assigned one term paper throughout the semester. Definitely take him for a psychology class.
The class and exams are pretty easy. He likes to tell you all about his family but complains about Facebook is too personal. He can get pretty annoying but I'd recommend the course.
He keeps things very fun and interesting. Always makes the class exciting and fun. Kinda goofy, but very funny. He is very good at explaining the material, and likes to talk about how that aspect of psychology is in his life somehow. Fun class. I recommend trying to get him as a teacher if you are taking intro to psychology
3-4 Tests which include the final exam. Multiple choice with a few short answer questions. He has a lot of personal experience stories he shares that don't really pertain to the material but a good and funny guy. Take his class.
Andrew is an awesome teacher! He can be a little too much but his class was very interesting. Used the book a lot and a lot of reading but it does pay off when you take the exams. He even offers extra credit. Andrew definitely knows his stuff. Take his class if you can, you won't regret it.
Andrew is awesome! He definitely knows his stuff. A lot of reading from the book but it does pay off during the exams. Andrew can be a little too crazy but funny. Take his class if you can, you won't regret it. Also extra credit is offered.
Gets off topic and is very disorganized. His notes were everywhere and sloppy. You need to read to pass. The book is the only way to know what's going on. He's very nice and offers extra credit but he needs to work on lectures.
Andy is a good instructor, who knows his Psychology. He's a little odd and definitely has a grim look toward society, but in all reality, he's just realistic. As long as you listen you'll pass the test; he goes over what the questions will be and gives you the answers.
Andrew was not what I was expecting from a professor. He's super laid back, but that seems to relate to his "lectures." He basically reviews the chapter in 30 minutes, not really stopping to see if anyone gets it. Lets you know exactly what's on the exams. You need the book just to review and pass the exams. A monkey could pass with an A.
His classes are relaxed, fun and enjoyable, and you get out with more than 50% knowledge, if you focus & participate in discussions. Totally recommend him!
He's nice and funny but his notes are horrible. Don't waste your time trying to keep up, he'll give a review sheet of what the test covers a coupe days before so you'll have to cram all the info in within a day or you can read the chapters which are unbearably long and disorganized. 3 tests,ex cred, 1 5page paper, a presentation, and 2 assignments
He seems nice but he is a terrible teacher! Nothingpersonal but he isnot very organized, his study guides don't narrow it down. You have to teach yourself, he pretty much goes over what you should have read except in a messyconfusing way. I could never understand his handwriting orhis teaching method. If youwant to enjoy this subject don't take him
Andrew is a witty, nice, funny guy, but his teaching methods are not good. He teaches by going over the chapters slightly, in a very messy manner. If you take his class you are signing up to be your own teacher, I did not learn anything from him.
They previous comments weren't kidding when they say you have to teach yourself. He flies through each term since there are a considerable amount to go through and expects you to grasp it. A lot of info crammed into one chapter, making knowing what to study for difficult. Interesting subject, but not executed well. Having the book is a must.
Interesting lectures , that come from the textbook. Lots of reading.
Please just rethink this. If you care about your grade and lottery scholar. don't take him. It is up to you. I do not like is class because the study guide was too random and the tests are graded worth more. If you use the study guide, the test will not match. He will not tell you your letter grade. In my class of fall2016, half of the class failed
He has some social problems, but he is a really great professor. He swears a lot and talks way to much! He is neurotic but that makes him cute.
He's a great teacher, just make sure to show up to class. For tests he gives you a study guide that matches the the test pretty closely (its mostly just vocabulary). I wrote one paper for the entire semester. He is very laid back and for the most part you dont really need to read the text, just focus on the vocab.
Andy's classes are mostly tests based off of vocabulary and concepts. If you show up to every class, you are likely to pass. He reads out of the textbook and makes his lectures based on reading out of the chapters. There aren't many papers or projects, and he wants you to succeed so if you need something just talk to him about it.
Teacher was great, you must read the material or you will be lost. His writing is horrible so you must pay attention or you can easily get lost. His test are made up by him and class mates, which makes the questions confusing. He knew his material, and delivered the material you need.
Really nice guy and hilarious lectures. Come to class to get lecture notes for the exams. Rad the textbook because everything on the exam is on there and in his lectures. Gives good study guides for exams, just show up to class to get them and hear what you will specifically be tested on. Sometimes gives extra credit. Is understanding as well.
I took his class in Spring of 2020 right before COVID. He does online classes so it was easy for him to adjust the class. He does a lecture every class but he makes it fun. I don't mind lectures so I actually enjoyed the class especially because I am genuinely interested in psychology. It's an easy A as long as you show up and take notes.
I don't know what professor everyone else rating this guy took, but it's nothing like what people say. I took him online for developmental psych and our class got a total of 2 emails the entire semester from him. He's completely disorganized, vague on assignment criteria, grades and gives NO feedback, forgets to upload assignments... STAY AWAY
If you want a class that you actually want to go to and be entertained by, TAKE THIS CLASS. 4 exams, 1 paper, 2 super easy in class activities, and study guides provided for the exams. He talks about his life experiences a lot, do not be surprised. The classmates write the exam questions, super fun! Absolutely take this class!!
Do not listen to the posts that say he is hilarious, etc. The class is relatively easy in that there is one paper and four tests. I did well on these ONLY because I knew the material prior to the class. The class taught ourselves entirely from the book. The 'lectures' are downright offensive and Andy has at BEST a surface-level understanding of PSY
Very enjoyable for a morning class. Very interesting professor and fun to listen to. Casual-professional. Basically the only grades are exams that you will definitely need to study for but it doesn't take long nor much effort. Follow along in the book with lectures, only need to know definitions, and if you miss class just read the chapter.
Becker's notes were often disorganized and sometimes illegible. He also goes through things very quickly so reading the textbook beforehand helped. The lectures themselves were fun, but he did sometimes make inappropriate comments and jokes, and he swore quite a bit. The topic was interesting though. Maybe with a different teacher next time :)
I liked this professor and felt he was a great communicator. I would take his class again.
Psyc2120. He was a great teacher. He made the lectures interesting and funny! He related his life to a lot of the topics we went over. There is a 5 page research paper he requires but do not over think it! There is a lot of reading, and taking notes will greatly help. He hands out study guides and goes over them in class.I recommend
I absolutely enjoyed taking this course! Professor Becker did an incredible job explaining the course material and providing additional reading materials to further my knowledge throughout this course.
I do not recommend his online class to anyone. It was VERY disorganized. All the content was copy and pasted from the previous semester with the previous semesters due dates! Which made it really hard to figure out what is due or not. HINT: nothing was hardly ever due. There might be a homework assignment once a month. avoid this online class.
He's very fun and very funny. The book is definitely a must-have, and so is studying, but he's very chill with attendance, responds quickly, and was very cool with accommodating life. There aren't too many assignments, so if and when you do get them, make sure to study, book and notes are again, very important. He's good with study guides as well.
Becker is an awesome instructor, his quizzes are hard, you definitely have to high light important notes because the exams are hard.
Mr. Becker was such a good professor, I loved all his lectures throughout our semester, if you love psychology it's super interesting, he is compassionate and very supportive! I definitely recommend him, and would take him again. Also the feed back he gives on discussion boards is very effective and makes him very involved and personal.
He was a pretty OK teacher, his lectures didn't make sense, simply because he talked a lot about different things that didn't really make sense, he would change the subject very often, he gets through notes like he's rushing to get out. He only has 3 exams which is really good but grading is out of 110% so be careful!
Doing the intersession class. SO disorganized. Have no idea what/when to do things Only 2 exams and 3 short discussions for 12 units, with ~100 slides to cover each; you have to be self directed. The "Grades" section is 75% things we "don't need to do" so they get automatically marked as 0. Due dates are literally from years before. Very confused
Lectures were all over the place. I think whether or not this is helpful depends on the student. He was constantly relating psych terms to his crazy life events, which helped some students remember them but confused others. There are a lot of exams, but study guides are always given out. The textbook will be your best friend in this course.
