Very good teacher but he's extremely difficult. His tests have word problems that are highly advanced. If you're like an ESL student, don't take.

He's hilarious and always makes things clear. He uses mymathlab for the homework assignments but suggests you dont use mymathlab to teach you and come to class to properly learn it. He knows what he's doing but watch out when he does lectures. He's human who makes simple math mistakes x)

Great teacher! I highly recommend taking his classes. His lectures are great! Be aware that his tests are lengthy, and a lot of people don't like the journals he assigns, but he is a fair grader. Lots of partial credit for your effort. He does give assignments on math lab, but sparingly.

Hands down best math teacher I have had so far. He explains things so clearly during lecture, and answers all questions with so much detail that it is nearly impossible to find yourself lost in this class. I think it is fair to say he is the only teacher who has been able to spark any interest in me for math. Do not hesitate in taking his class!

Homework all online due once a week. attendence not mandatory, but he doesnt briefly go over what you did in class the day before so i suggest go often. Answers questions in class and out of class via email or office hours. Professor is very clear, and knows exactly what he is teaching, which is great because lots of teacher nowadays dont know.

One of the best math teachers I had in Ohlone. He is new to ohlone and he is a great professor. I definitely recommend students to take his class. He wants students to pass and is willing to help you understand the materials.

This teacher is amazing. I took him for math181 as well. He is great at explaining and helping the students. He tries very hard to help everyone understand. keeps it pretty interesting and funny for a math class. not too much HW usually. tests are usually straight forward and if you do the hw and journals then you should do fine on the tests.

Professor Bloom is awesome! I never understood math before his class. Super helpful in his office hours and willing to help anyway he can. Took him for two semester. As far as the required journal, it does require work, but really does help you learn the material. His tests are really fairly graded. If you have a chance, take him!

If I could recommend one professor at Ohlone, he would be it. He is easily the best math instructor I have ever had. His tests do require you to think but he tells you what you need to know before the test. The journal, in my opinion is brilliant. If you procrastinate it forces you to go over the whole chapter and review things you may have forgot.

Hi everyone.This instructor is awesome. i have never seen such a teacher. If your attendance and if you do your journals and atleast get a passing score then there is not way to fail the class. The teacher really help students even students can make contacts to him in his office.

TAKE THIS CLASS! this teacher is great and so helpful! Ive taken both trig and pre-calc with him and needless to say he is great at teaching all math courses. Explains everything very well and is always willing to help you. Assigns journals for each chapter but is not too much work and helps A LOT. pay attention & do the work and you will get an A.

Professor Bloom is one of a kind. This professor has a great personality and makes learning a fun experience. Not does he demonstrate how to solve problems, but explains them in a sense where it becomes easy to understand for the student. Over all a great and unforgettable experience.

Examples-led teaching style wasn't for me but overall a really helpful guy who tries to keep the class engaged. I would recommend if you grasp math quickly and are comfortable with asking for help. Lots of partial credit on tests. Journals are helpful for your grade and studying.

Bloom is super chill. I really hated math before because I never understood the material but bloom helps out alot through email questions and office hours. He wants you to learn and he gives his best to his students.Just stay dedicated and you'll be perfectly fine.

Bloom is THE BEST math instructor I have ever had. I work my schedule around his classes so I can keep taking his classes. His tests are difficult, but fair and he grades fairly. There are no surprises from him. He tells you what to study and then its up to you. Do the journal and the assignments and you will be fine in the class.

Mr. Bloom is the best math teacher I've ever had in my life! He works hard to make sure his students understand the material. The BEST teacher I've ever had! Math has always been my weakest subject, but I feel as if Bloom has caught me up on all my previous terrible math classes. He explains clearly, and answers any questions. He doesn't put difficult questions on the tests, and his journal is genius, do it and you'll get an A (just don't procrastinate)!

I am not a big fan of math but honestly after taking his class i actually don't feel lost in math at all. He knows how to teach and if you don't get it he will try his best to make sure you get it. Honestly you cant miss his class it wont benefit you in anyway.

Math is my weakest subject but Professor Bloom helps everyone. In his lecture, he explains everything and you can always raise your hand and ask a question to clarify and he doesn't mind. He wants students to learn, doesn't make students look stupid for asking questions. Bloom doesn't move on in lectures until everyone gets it. Study and pass easy.

Professor Bloom is a really excellent Math instructor who actually teaches Math verses just teaching to the white board. If you struggle in Math, or it is your weak point, I highly recommend taking Bloom. He teaches well, and his journals really help you understand the material more. I definetly recommend taking Bloom, even though I got a C overall

Grading: One 15 question assignment, 1 test, and 1 "journal" (typed notes) per chapter and the final. Homework isn't graded but is given daily. Tips: Do the homework. Test questions are very similar. Do the journal. It's a great way to make sure you know what you're doing. Tests are pretty easy, and calculators are allowed.

Professor Bloom is amazing! He genuinely wants his students to succeedf If Ifyou get a bad grade in his class, it's because you didn't use your resources. He holds office hours, is in the math lab, and checks emails daily. He is there for you!! Use the resources, and you will succeed. He is also easy on the eyes. (:

One of the best math teachers I have met. He will always be there to help you. Obviously it's not an easy A unless you do your part. He doesn't require you to turn in the homework but if you regularly keep doing it then you're set for his tests. He explains the contents of the book very clearly and goes through each problem with the class :)

Nice professor with clear lectures & he's willing to help if you have questions. Ultimately your grade will depend on how much time you put into the class; go to the math lab if you have questions or if you have trouble, do extra practice problems! He's in the lab as well and you can reach him via e-mail and office hours.

I went in remembering how to +- and thought math was the devil. Now? Math is fun. He makes you work for your grade but he teaches you how. Don't miss class, do your journal, and stay off your phone! He wants you to succeed so he will be there for you. Even if you threaten to push him down stairs when he gives you outrageous problems to do.

He is an extremely tough professor, and he grades really hard,. His tests hardly correlate to the material assigned for HW, and his journal is also time consuming. He may be a good teacher, but he is overall a very hard professor. Many people like him because he's cute and stuff, but it's the teaching that matters people, not just the looks!!

Bloom's class is really hard, his tests are extremely tough and you really have to study a lot in order to get a good grade. He makes the tests difficult while the hw may seem easy, his tests don't necessarily correlate to what was on the hw. Mr. Bloom is a really hard teacher, I took his 190 class a few semesters ago and boy it was tough. He is a good teacher and genually a nice guy but he grades really hard on tests. Your grade is soley based on tests and his journal assignment, which is time consuming. Overall, I didn't like the class too much, in fact I ended up dropping the class.

While Mr. Bloom may be a good teacher, he is an extremely hard grader. People like him because he's supposedly hot and good looking, but really it's all about the teaching. He can teach, but the class is really hard because he has strict high level standards because of his good teachings. If you struggle with Math, he may be the one to take.

Although, I passed the course with a decent grade, I heard this was a newly designed course and maybe that's why I thought it was tough or was tough in general. This is a really faced pace course, it meets everyday and boy it felt brutal. His tests were a bit tough.

Honestly, he's the best professor I've ever had at Ohlone. Attendance matters because there are daily problems that count towards your final grade. He has very clear grading criteria, as long as you follow them and do the practice tests, you'll pass. He also allows index cards on tests so that's really helpful. Take his class, you won't regret it!

Very clear explanations and an engaging class even though it was 3 hours. Go to class! You can't use the book to supplement the lecture, everything is in StatCrunch. He allows an index card on all of the tests and open book on many of the quizzes so just pay attention and you shouldn't need to study much/at all. Would definitely recommend!

Professor Bloom was the most awesome teachers that I ever had at Ohlone. He takes his time to teach his students anytime when they are stuck on a subject. He is really a nice person and caring ,he really wants his students to pass the class. All of his quizzes were pretty much open notes,take good notes. Also ,he is good at replying to his emails.

Andy Bloom is the GOAT. Seriously if you need to take Stats at Ohlone take him. I have never been that great at math but he explains things really well & is always willing to help. He also lets you have a notecard for every test & all of your notes for your quizzes. He was also a United States Olympian in shot-put so thats cool too LOL. Take him!

First time taking math in college, I thought I was going to have a very tough journey. However, Professor Bloom made everything seem straight forward with his simpl teaching style and the fact that he allows notes on quizzes and 1-sided note cards on tests is just so generous of him. He's also a 2001 Olympics shot-putter. Definitely recommend!!

I am not a fan of math at all and have always found it challenging. But Professor Bloom is an outstanding teacher and made me love statistics! Be sure to do all the homework, show up to class, and pay attention. Take advantage of his office hours if you need help, they will be very useful to you and he is always willing to help! He is clear on what he's expecting. Come to class everyday and you should be fine. The class was easy. His exams were tough but as long as you pay attention in class than you are good. Would take it again with him.

Professor Bloom is very clear of what is expected. I suck at math and I got an A in the class. Yet again I put in the effort. While taking his class you must keep the "What you put in is what you get out". His class isn't the easiest but making sure you do your notes and assignments on time will ensure a passing grade. please take this professor if you want a enjoyable experience. i failed trig and barely passed algebra 2 in highschool, but with bloom i was actually able to learn stats. this class is fairly easy, workload isnt bad at all. easiest teacher ive ever had. hes also such a good human being, super understandable.

He made stats pretty easy to learn, and posts the slides he goes over during his lectures so you can go back to them. Highly recommend taking him!

Professor Bloom is a wonderful teacher and very accessible outside of class. As long as you take detailed notes and do all the daily problems/group quizzes, the material should be very straightforward and easy to learn.

Professor Bloom has accessible office hours for struggling students and replies really fast (if you e-mail before his sleeping schedule). As long as you take the time outside of class to watch his preliminary video (before lecture) and check on his feedback in Canvas assignments, Intro to statistics becomes pretty easy. Good professor

Bloom is a super nice guy, a great lecturer, and is very clear about what you need to know. Do the study guides - not only are they worth points, but you will see nearly identical problems on the exams. The class was not easy but he was very helpful and provides a lot of good resources. The textbook is online and free.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EXTRA HELP!!! I went to MLC and office hours almost everyday we had class, it definitely lightened the load since YouTube and Google can't help at all. Its crucial to reach out before you're struggling, and make sure you reach out to classmates. Daily problems help a lot, especially for reference when studying. Amazing individual.

Great teacher and instructor. Lectures and explanations of material were amazing, and was very accessible outside of class for tutoring and office hours. Learned a lot and was inspired to continue pursuing my major even though the math requirements may seem challenging.

I took Professor Bloom for the spring of 2023 for intro to statistics. Overall, great class and must take this professor for this class. One tip I give is daily problems and data project is the key to understanding the exams. He's the best professor at Ohlone and genuinely cares about his students. Gives you feed back and replies to all emails.

This professor teaches very clearly and thoroughly walks through the problems step by step. We walk through the steps so much that we spend 3 hours doing 3 problems. But this class has extremely difficult material. The math is tough, especially if you didn't take pre-calc. If you actually want to learn, his professor is definitely recommended.

Bloom is a knowledgeable and caring professor. The material's difficult but his videos are thorough, and he's accessible over email, often replying to questions within minutes. The three unit exams are weighted more than the final, so if you don't do well on them your grade will drop a lot. Definitely recommend him if you're prepared to work hard.

I took calc 1 with him, and although it was difficult, it set me up really well for my future math courses. Attend office hours and pay close attention to the study guides, they will be similar to the exams.

Mr. Bloom is a very nice and relaxed professor however, the class is quite difficult. If you pay attention to the lectures and really focus in on the study guides the class should be quite easy I struggled on my first test then progressively picked it up at the end. Good professor take him. 👍

If you've had any fear or anxiety about math due to past experiences, he will help you overcome it. His teaching style is clear, supportive, and highly effective. He uses great pedagogy and methodology to ensure students truly understand the material. I only wish he taught all the other math courses required for STEM majors!

He genuinely is a good professor. He really is there to help you learn the material. In terms of test, yes they are 60% of your grade, but compared to the study guide they are fairly easy. He replaces your lowest test score with the averages the 2 highest tests scores. do the hw, go to office hours if you need help, and you'll do just fine

Professor Bloom makes the class very organized and his online lectures are amazing. They highlight exactly what he wants and expects and are way easier than using textbooks or reading slides he provides. He recommends using his lectures. Pay attention to rubrics and his lectures and you should be good. He responds to emails quickly and is nice.

Y'all I've literally had a deep hatred for math my whole life but Prof Bloom's class was the first time ever I felt myself enjoying math. He never makes you feel dumb for asking questions, and his videos have great explanations and highlight exactly what he wants you to know for exams, hes also a nice person overall :)

I USUALLY HATE MATH, but I LOVE THIS CLASS. I took his Calc 1 class with an embedded tutoring hour. u dont have to, but I highly recommend that you show up. he responds quickly to emails & doesn't make u feel dumb for asking questions. Only one complaint: I hated how he would only open the modules we needed done for monday on saturday.
